Topics covered

Segments

  • Show open and social media banter 0:01–1:41
The show opens from the Pathway Studios in Johnston. A host jokes about social media presence, counts 506 Facebook likes, and riffs on the Proverbs image of the contentious wife as a dripping faucet before addressing another host by name.
  • Coronaed out of travel, cheap gas 1:42–3:24
The hosts note they are on the air two weeks running, then discuss travel plans cancelled by the coronavirus, the stock market, and Saudi oil price cuts that pushed gas under two dollars a gallon.
  • Guest intro and cheesy Christian shirt stories 3:24–6:16
The guest, Blake Stanley, is introduced as founder of the BLDR clothing line. Before the interview starts, the hosts trade stories of cheesy Christian T-shirts: a grandma-bought Christ shirt, a ripped Jesus doing a push-up captioned 'bench press this,' and a 'gee whiz' thumbprint shirt.
  • The oil-producing Bible ministry fraud 6:17–16:03
A host reads a Chattanooga Times Free Press investigation of the 'His Name Is Flowing Oil' ministry in Dalton, Georgia, whose Bible allegedly produced oil that lab analysis matched to Tractor Supply mineral oil after leader Jerry Pierce admitted buying gallons of it. The hosts debate discernment: how to stay open to the Holy Spirit without being duped, why centering a ministry on a miracle inverts Jesus's own pattern, and why 350,000 vials should never have left town.
  • Why Blake started BLDR 16:04–22:05
Asked what moment led him to start the line, the guest explains his designer's frustration: cheesy in-your-face shirts turn people away, many Christian brands are made for profit by non-believers, and he wanted his gifts to serve the gospel. His earlier brand Tetelestai became BLDR, short for birth, life, death, resurrection, designed so the acronym itself starts a conversation.
  • Proclaim, don't campaign 22:05–24:27
A host roleplays spotting the BLDR shirt on the street while the guest delivers his fifteen-second gospel walkthrough. The hosts land on the line's philosophy: proclaim the name of Jesus, don't campaign it, since the cross has been flattened into a brand instead of a story people can walk into.
  • Spring line, pop-up camper, and bldr.faith 24:29–33:17
The guest describes the ninth collection, including a spring line with an ancient-Jerusalem topography shirt called 'where Jesus walked' and a pierced-wrist hand-sign shirt quoting John 15:13. He talks about printing shirts at home, running pop-up events from a converted vintage camper, and loving face-to-face conversations over online orders. The segment includes studio chaos, a 'Boulder Faith' pun on bldr.faith, and the Instagram handle.
  • Stewarding the business and wrapping the interview 33:18–37:31
Asked about scaling, the guest says he never dreamed it would get this far, defines success as stewarding what the Lord gave him even if it ends in two years, and dreams of a coffee-shop storefront. The hosts wrap the interview, plug the Bob Eisenlauer complaint line at (515) 517-0085, and follow up on last week's advice segment.
  • Dear LFTP follow-up and the daddy-daughter dance 37:31–40:20
A host checks the complaint line and follows up on last week's advice about a stranger's child coming into a listener's home, confirming with his wife that calling the police was the right call. He then muses about the daddy-daughter dance, the impossibility of recruiting volunteer 'rented dads' in the current culture, and the sadness of that.
  • Dear LFTP: the estranged brother and the dog 40:22–47:31
A listener writes that five years ago her brother, recovering at their parents' house, watched their alcoholic father feed his dog Pepper chocolate until the dog died, blew up at their father, and cut off the family. She has now found her brother married abroad and asks whether she must tell her parents. The hosts advise she is not obligated to report back but cannot lie if asked, then argue from Luke 6 that the brother must forgive actionably, doing good and praying for his father, even while keeping healthy boundaries.
  • Dear LFTP: is it a good baby? 47:32–54:17
A new mother writes that her husband's grandmama emailed asking whether the baby is a 'good baby,' a phrase that is a pet peeve since the grandmother is strict and quarrelsome. The hosts advise against picking a fight over it: just reply that the baby is great and move on. The Secular answer is to dodge the premise entirely with a brief pleasant reply.
  • Outro and sign-off 54:17–54:44
The hosts close with the complaint line number, thank the guest, point listeners to bldr.faith and the Boulder Faith Instagram, and sign off with the line about being faithful in the means while God handles the ends.

Live from the Pathway Studios in Johnston proper. You are live from the Path.

And you're listening to live from the Pathway coming from the Pathway Studios in Johnston proper. What the heck is going on over there? You can reach me at my Insta handle. Don't go to it. I'm not on Insta.

Oh, man. Yeah. Hey. Maybe we should ask people to give us an Instagram handle and then text the complaint line if they have any. This is a mistake. Alright. Yeah. Whatever. You you know what? We're getting on the Instagram. It's a it's a foregone conclusion. It's gonna happen. Yeah. By the time we roll this thing up, something else will take over. We just dominated Facebook not, like, a month ago. We got, like, 500 some likes. We're like, we're counting it. I'm already working on our TikTok, fellas. Don't worry about it. Oh, so I won't let the kids on the TikTok. That's probably a good idea. Yeah. Because what's that? Are we still over 500?

Yes. Yeah. Five zero six. It stayed this time? Oh, Yeah. Remember that drippy faucet they talk about in the songs of Proverbs or whatever? That's us. That's we just slowly filled a bucket. We're the woman on the roof. Yeah. Proverbs.

I'm waiting for the YouTube hits to kinda start decreasing. Can they do that? No. Hope not. They they can't take them away. Take them away? No, Dan. No. That was worthless. There's no YouTube penalty. 700. Okay. Hey. You're listening live from Pat. Thanks for hanging out with us. Hey. I wanna note. Four four of the annals. That's two weeks in a row, boys. We are actively on the air for two weeks straight. Yeah. No breaks, no sicknesses, no traveling. Now that here's the I was supposed to be gone, but I got coronaed. The the the corporate folks said, look. No traveling. The corona's going around. This is awesome. And so I was You got coroned? I did. I got coroned. I was, I was supposed to be in Minnesota this week. I was supposed to be in Virginia next week. Coroned out of both of them. Wow. This is hilarious. Yep. This whole thing. Yeah. Everybody I know in the medical field, they're like, yeah. It's it's a it's a it's a virus. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You can catch it. Yeah. But But the stock market, friends, the stock market If you're not immunocompromised,

it's not statistically negative. About, though? The stock market's about oil. That's not even about the virus, but it depends on if on on which news channel you are. You're gonna be like, oh, it's it's it's virus problems. It's it's an oil problem. Alright. So I thought here's just okay. I don't mean to take up show with this, but, like, from what I understood, the Saudis showed up, cut their own prices, right, in attempt to to to try to move some oil and was pushing everybody else out. Now there's a now there's a war on it. And now there's a war on it because the Saudis run most of it. Is that is that why I was able to fill up for less than $2 a gallon? Yeah. It sounded like $23 a barrel. What? Yeah. And so, like, at at its at its highest, right after the stock market crash two thousand eight, your barrel price inched up towards a 100. It was like $80.90, 100 right there. Now here's the deal though. Relatively speaking, I'm not paying a fifth less for gas. So somebody at the refinery is done taking a 2 couple cents shillings in his pocket. Casey is sitting there just breaking into money. Oh, jeez. Yeah. Okay. Anyway Alright. Well You're breaking Did anyone else We're here to break down economics and drinks? Buy a barrel? Like, when prices got low, I thought I could walk through barrels.

And I'm like, give me a barrel of sweet stuff. I'll make it myself. I'll just pump it through my own beans. What what is this water world? I need a whole barrel of Go Fuel through my distillery. I'll take, through containers of Oklahoma crude. Alright. Let's say, hey. For a man who I I'm I'm sure, but not sure whether he's ever tempted to buy a bell or oral, Blake Stanley. Blake? Yeah. Thanks for joining us in the studio. Yeah.

We're sorry. It's not his fault. This is the show he came on. I I didn't explain like this would go down like this. Yeah. I just don't have the gift of discernment. Yeah. People don't come on when we give them the afford Right. Yeah. We gotta we gotta, like, schmooze people into here with with lies. I made this show sound much better. Anyway, we're gonna catch up with him. He is is the founder and purveyor of the, BLDR, clothing line, and and, here's the deal. It caught my eye. And I I'm gonna share, something that he said, and this is the whole reason that he's on the studio right here is because I saw this news article, and it said, people do do making Christian T shirts. I'm like, Christian T shirts. Cheesy. And then it says later in the article, he says a lot of them are cheesy. I'm like, I love this man already. He gets up. Bring him in.

Okay. So so we're gonna catch up with Blake. We're gonna find out more about his business, ways that you can support that. And and, frankly, may maybe you're someone who's seen a Christian T shirt, and you're like, that's Cheeseball. Is there a way to get this thing right? And we'll see we'll see what you think. And maybe you're someone who wears cheesy Christian T shirts Oh, man. Like me. I used to do that, especially in junior high. My grandma had got me a shirt that said Christ, and it had a shield on it. And I never wore it until I went to go see my grandma. And I'm like, yeah, grandma. I'm a solid disciple of Jesus. I would not I would just wore this shirt, and I didn't know Jesus, like, properly till I was probably 25. But my grandma was sure fooled because I said gee whiz and wore that Christ shirt. You said gee whiz. You should get a a a T shirt that says gee whiz and then just Christ on the back of it. This is who I am. People would know that you're real. She's like, oh, man. Is that the gee whiz shirt? That's awesome. And that really speaks to my soul. I totally got I I got dug in on the cheesiest one, which was, when my dad and I started working out when I was, I mean, 13, 14 years old, I thought it was the coolest thing on the planet. There was the shirt that he wanted to get that had Jesus just, I mean, jacked, like, completely ripped. Uh-huh. And then it had him, like, doing a push up, and it's got the cross on his back, and it says the sin of the world on it. And then on the back, it says bench press this.

And I was like, that is the coolest. Like, yeah. You think you're tough? Jesus could bench press the sin of the world, you pansy. And I'm like, dad, we gotta get those shirts. But my dad lovingly never got those shirts. And so yeah. So thank you father for that. Blake is here to change the world. I I I wish I would have bought, like, three copies of my fourth grade or third grade T shirt because it was it was awesome. What was it? It was great. It was a it was a giant thumbprint. Said gee whiz on it. The body, and it said, loves me. I'm thumb buddy special.

Oh, no. Oh, man. That wraps that up. Example of awful. That yeah. That's a that's a great Valentine's Day card. Yeah. Making fun of Mike Tyson. Lot giant giant giant thumb with a face on it, and he looked happy. Jesus is example. He had Jesus. Okay. God loves him. Alright. Here's the deal. We're This could be redeemed. So we're we're gonna get to that. But real quick, I just wanna and I I I think we talked about this in one of one of the chat conversations, boys, but we didn't get it on the air. Ministry with oil producing bible shuts down after being exposed to fraud. What? Hey. How could that be? If you wanna vote for this as a the Insta handle, this is the time. A ministry called his name is flowing oil,

excuse me, based in Dalton, Georgia has shut down following an investigation by the Chattanooga Times Free Press. The ministry centered around a Bible that allegedly miraculously produced oil, which the group called a sign and wonder. Jerry Pierce, a leader of the ministry, has admitted to buying gallons of mineral oil from the local tractor supply company, though he says he never put the oil on the bible or in the bible's container. Completely separate. Completely separate. I just like the oil. Use case. We yeah. He's got a slip and slide. Pierce has said the bible has stopped producing oil in early January. Oh, man. Around the time of the investigation. The lord stopped working. I got hold on. Now you have to realize what level of a shammery you're running when the Chattanooga Free Press That's what I was gonna say. It was like the epitome of detectives came came through, through.

And they're like, alright. We got the big guns coming out. The Chattanooga Free Press is finally hitting up on us. We gotta get this figured out, fellas. Oh, boy. Pearson fellow leader Johnny Taylor said their decision to end the ministry had nothing to do with the Times free press proof. Of course not. Nope. People who used the oil claim they experienced traumatic spiritual incidents or were healed from ongoing health problems. Ministry leaders report they have given out 350,000 vials of oil, which they said flowed from the book. As part of the Times Free Press investigation of the ministry of scientists at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, people with nothing better to do. Wait. Wait. Did you say 350,000

Yeah. Vials. Yeah. Vials. I was thinking 350, then a a thousand kept lingering. That's a that's a lot of people there. There's a broader point to this article. $14.95 apiece or $29.95? You know, it didn't say. It didn't say, and the website's down. But

that has nothing to do with this. So as part of the Times Free Press investigation of the ministry, scientists at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga analyzed samples of the bible's oil. How do you get to how do you get to college to do stuff like that? Like, aren't they busy? Do you just show up with the file and say, hey. Look. This they think this is coming out of the KJV. Can you check-in? This is the University of Chattanooga. I think no. Don't think they're doing anything else. It's the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Even even better. They're they're not doing anything else. Satellite things on this show. They found it to be nearly identical to oil sold by the Tractor Supply Company.

The chemical compounds seem to be remarkably similar. A local church miracle. Where his name is flowing oil held prayer meetings has asked the ministry to no longer use its facility. Oh, no way. But again Apparently, it's the it's a real devil on the map. Now hold on. That okay. So now let me ask you this. Okay. Where

where should people people have gone, woah. This isn't right. Okay. Like, here's the thing. Because, like, when when you when talking about spiritual things, right, like, we are, to our own detriment, closed minded to the spiritual aspect of our world. There's no doubt. Right? Like, a lot of people just do not take miraculous healings, miraculous works of the spirit, and we we put that really shallow. Like, it just you know, we just don't see it very broadly, especially Western culture. Right? Yep. So in that vein to say, look. We know this is a problem anyway for us. We don't tend to take this stuff in.

How could we easily look at something like this and go, woah. Ah, man. This is I mean, this I want I would like to be more open, but I feel like Yahweh is not being praised by this oil producing bible. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. I can I can help you with the quick signs? Okay. Help me. One, the name of the ministry is called his name is flowing oil. Is it? No. No. Does anything strike you from the scriptures that says his name is flowing oil? Does God ever refer to himself as flowing oil? Yeah. You can call me Yahweh or Flowing oil. Flowing oil. No. It doesn't strike you. Now if you here's the thing. If you told me some guy somewhere

had a bible that flowed oil, I might be like, okay, let me check it out. Right? But, like, if you start up a ministry and that is the title, you've put the cart before the horse. You're obviously gonna sham something. You're not just Ted's Baptist Church of which he has a bible that flows oil. You've centered your whole thing around this. Anytime you center your whole ministry around a miracle, you've actually done the exact opposite of what Jesus did. Jesus played down his miracles in light of teaching. I'm pretty sure there's an obscure story about Elijah at

a a an olive press or something, and the god showed up and said, my name is Oh, dang it. He's got us. He's got us, Mike. Well, you're you should be embarrassed. Are you sure about that, Dan? I'm sure there's not. Oh. Hey. That's not convincing, though. I don't know Elijah well enough to know what we've been I've never read the bible. So

Like, how much do I know about Elijah to what point I I could call out of random obscure reference? Yes. I was gonna do Moses. I thought I better go to Elijah quick. So that's the name. Moses, I would've called out. It would have been very disingenuous if after the burning bush, Moses started the first church of the burning bush. Yes. Right? Because it it would be His name is fire. It would be the the creation for the creator. You missed it. Right? And I suppose you're right. This is a telltale. You missed it. Who cares if the book produces oil anyway? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Especially use it to heal. I'm just saying, like, I knock everything off off the anything that sounds spiritually cool,

I'm like, I don't know. I'm totally buzzkilled by all of it. Right? And I think that that's wrong. I think that I'm not open to the holy spirit doing cool and great things. Yeah. And so, like, I could I mean, I wouldn't have got sucked into this one, but something very similar. I mean, I'm I'm available to to think. I don't know. Maybe I don't know. What do I know? You know? Well, and here's the deal. Like, there's something to be said for for holy spirit discernment. Like, we ask for this kind of stuff. No. Now that's true. God, is this thing producing oil? I'm praying earnestly. God goes, no. No. It is not. Right? No. I mean, if you're if you're actually praying and asking, I feel like he's gonna answer, and you will know it's a fraud. So I mean, mean, silly question, but why would he use, like, motor oil when he could use, like, olive oil or something? Because I mean, is someone gonna taste it? Or I I don't know. It's it's mineral oil. It's mineral oil. Mineral oil. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. I was thinking I don't know if that's any better than motor oil, but I feel like No. Yeah. They use That was like a trap oil. Wouldn't olive oil be more biblical but probably more expensive? More expensive, but I'm sure he's making pretty good, you know Mineral oil they use in transformers, like, to cool down most of your transformers. Well, like in the movies. Tractor supply store. Yeah. Yeah. They use mineral oil for a cooling capability. My guess is the closest store to him is the Trapper's Nest. That's right. And that drove the entire I was gonna say they they don't really make 55 gallon drums of olive oil that that easy to grab. It doesn't raise red flags. Wait a minute. Charge that to his name is flowing oil.

His name is extra virgin flowing oil. Oh. From the finest wine presses. Okay. Now here's the so I here's the thing, though. If you boost it up to a broader principle. To Dan's point, 350,000 vials. 350,000

still. That's what I'm saying. Yeah. Listen. Listen. The Lord is capable of healing if he wants to with absolutely nothing. But but but that I mean, he's gone beyond, like, the 14 people that come. That's exactly what I'm saying. I mean That's a lot of people. This shouldn't have made it outside of whatever kooky existence

he's put together. Right. Right? People should go, hey. I'm offering free flowing over oil coming from the KJV. No. Thanks. I'm good. Right? There there's there is now sheep, back to Mike's point from last week, granted. But I mean

I mean, let's let's do the discernment thing. Right. Let's do the discernment stuff. And and and on behalf of your family and friends, let's just be kind and look out for them and say, no. Don't don't don't plant the seeds off the TV. Don't order the oil. Don't order the eagle statue from the Crystal Cathedral. Quick. And now, Kevin, we're we're kind of making fun of Christians, but, I mean, we're talking to a world of people that sell out toilet paper because someone have a bad cold in China. Yeah. So it's like all of us. I mean, yeah, it's symptomatic to a bigger issue. But there's no doubt about that. We we make foolish decisions a lot. We jump on things, but, like, I feel like we should be called to a higher standard than that. I mean, I like a stylish NASCAR

sweatshirt because it's cool. Yeah. I mean, you did get sucked into that, but at least it's not a vial of mineral oil. Yeah. Alright. Anyway, it's a fraud, just in case we missed it. And I I'll I'll send out the link so you can read it on dsrn.com of which this guy's thumbnail is, I mean, is a dead giveaway. That was sign number two. You walk into it. This guy's got a thumbnail that's like 10 inches long. Holy cow. It is. Look at it. Look at it. It's at my d grandpa's. Yeah. I wanna I wanna call them. It's too bad they're closed. I wanna I wanna hear them answer the phone. No. Hold up. Are you talking about a physical thumbnail like a man has? He's held He's holding the oil producing bible. That's gross, guys. I thought you were talking about, a compressed file No. On your computer. His thumbnail thumbnail. The end of his thumb. Gotta be half inch. Yeah. That's an accountant. That's so gross. I don't know. I've known other accountants with that. I don't know why. That's an accountant. I don't why is that an accountant? No. I don't know. I don't know. I've seen accountants with long fingernails. Maybe it's part of a It's a weird coin. Stereotype that you just created. Just had to count. Yeah. I'm sorry. It got it got out of my control. Alright. Alright. You listen live from the path. Here we go. We're we're ready to back in. Let's let's catch up with Blake. Alright. So so so, Blake, that that setup notwithstanding.

Oh, yeah. Tell me a little bit about if if there was a moment or a series of moments or conversations that said, this Jesus cloth that I'm seeing out there just isn't I'm not sure it's doing what we think it's doing. Yeah. Was there a time for that? I think it was yeah. I don't know. I I had the creative mind, like, from the beginning. I was just like, the Lord gave me that. And so I, like, can definitely tell, like, a good design from a not so good design. Right. You know? And so I think that was one of the things I was like, okay. Like, this isn't working. And it doesn't do its job either because

it also turns people away probably more than turns people on because no one's gonna see a Sprite shirt that says spirit on it instead, and you can be like, I'm gonna, like, come to the Lord. God works in big ways, and he can use that, like you said before. Yeah. The the muscle one works, though. But but, like, I think, like, that was, like, kind of a turnoff for me. I was like, okay. Like, I want I want to represent the gospel by what I wear and have a conversation starter, but that

I didn't see was gonna do the trick. Yeah. Agreed. Agreed. And so so you thought to yourself, this is people have it's it's always more nuance. People have the right intent here. Yeah. But if it's not doing what we want it to do, where's the gap? And you think design it's a design problem. Yeah.

I think it's a design not necessarily just a design problem, but it's just like the intent behind Even I know there's so many Christian brands out there that aren't even, like, created by Christians or believers themselves. They're just created literally just for profit. Yeah. And there's, like, a market out there, and so people, like, just do it for the profit, and so they just come up with whatever they can. Right. You know? So so what when was the moment where you said, if I recognize this reality,

I feel like I'm I'm gonna do something about it? Yeah. I think it was mainly me, myself, like, trying to figure out how I'm going to, like, use my gifts for the glory of God and the gifts that he's given me and give back in that way. And so

using my my faith in a positive way, I looked for that for a long time because I did have I went to the Morning Christian. And so it was a long time. I didn't start this until senior year of high school, and I was looking for an outlet for my faith for a long time in my creativeness, I guess, you could say.

And so I don't think there was one moment. It was just a lot building up to it, and I just it it kinda just came to me. Was like, okay. I'm just gonna full on do this. You know? I'm I think the whole like, my high school, I kind of, like, had in the back of my mind, like, I wanna start a clothing company or something like that and use my my gifts for the glory of god and because that turned really into graphic design, and that's an outlet for that. And so I I always say that the person, like, seen like, where puts the shirt on, it gives them confidence, and I I love that aspect of it. Like, you're literally clothing yourself in Christ when you wake up in the morning. I I pray that it's their prayer that, they go out and,

try to proclaim the gospel to whoever they see. But like I said before, like, these other cheesy shirts, they're very, like, in your face. And Yep. You you know without a doubt that that person's trying to do that. You know? Yep. That's not a bad thing. But I think vice versa, it's like instead okay. It's gonna confuse that person next to them and be like, okay. I don't I have no idea what BLDR means. Like, I have no idea if that's a Christian T shirt or just a regular T shirt. And don't I know what that is, I'm gonna ask about it. You know? And so there's these people that don't even, like, have the idea that they're about to enter into a Christ centered conversation, but they are because the I again, my prayer is that everybody wearing these shirts is, like, going out on mission every day that they wear one. And so instantly, just like you're able to walk someone through the gospel, you know. Yeah. Right on. So so I think that gets into my next question then is that,

as you look for the the opportunity to create something that does that, you ended up with BLDR. Yeah. Were there multiple iterations? Tell me a little bit about how you came to that and, and how how it's been working. Yeah. So I it really did start, as that desire

of looking for a way to, like, confuse the people around you and have them really just not know what they're, like, asking about and that conversation to be started. And so it started as to Teleste apparel, which was simply just like it's it is Phoenician Greek. Mhmm. So the last word of Jesus on the cross paid in full, like your debt is paid in full. And so it had that same desire and same goal of, okay. What what does that mean?

And so I that kinda just transitioned into this whole thing of, okay. I want it to be more gospel centered. Mhmm. And I didn't there was no, like like, I think, progression of it coming to this. It just, like, happened. Yep. And I was just, like, inspired, and it came to me. And I was like, okay. This could be something. It could not, but I wanna run with it because I feel like the Lord laid that on my heart. And so BLDR stands for birth, life, death, resurrection. And, again, it's like my my my desire is for someone wearing the shirt and if they they're asked about it, not just to be like, it's Santa birth, life, death, resurrection, this cool company, go see it. You know? Because I I've seen like, had friends that do that or me myself that's done that before.

But my true desire is literally just someone to be like, okay. Yeah. My shirt, like, it means the that Christ came to Earth, and was born, and he lived a perfect life of servanthood, and died a sinner's death that we deserved for ourselves,

and three days rose again conquering that sin and death so that we may live. And again, as simple as that, you're walking them through it, but in a more like spirit led way, and you're saying, okay, here's the gospel. I'm laying it out for you, and do you have questions? Like, can we talk more about this? You know? And so that's really, like, my desire. I you know, I do like that because I think a lot of times, cheesiness aside, a lot of the the apparel

draws you to a specific thing. Right? Like and it tends it tends to be death on the cross or something like right like that. And it it doesn't really give you much room to have a conversation. It's an advertisement. Yeah. And and I don't know any place where I feel like the advertisements

of of the good news has actually landed on something that helps change people. It's just something you take it puts it on the level of everything else that you're looking in as opposed to a story that they can walk into. Yep. It's we like to say proclaim and not campaign. So, like, proclaim the name of Jesus, and don't campaign it because he doesn't need to be campaigned. Like, just simply proclaim who he is and what he's done, and it's there. Boom. We've we've made the cross a brand. Yeah. You you know? So it's, hey. It's a cross. Oh, I know what that means. Yeah. You know? Well, I wanna I wanna see how this works. K? So so Mike's walking down the street, he sees your shirt. Okay, Mike. Have you been to Boulder, Colorado?

No. Actually, my shirt stands for birth, life, death, resurrection, and it's all about Jesus, and it's all about the gospel and how he came to Earth and lived this perfect life of servanthood, died a sinner's death that we deserved, and rose again three days later. And it's literally just the biggest proclamation of grace that's ever been displayed, and he did all that for you. That sounds awesome. I'm in. Is there any is there any water? What is stopping me from being baptized right now?

I'll take a case of those shirts. It's actually here's the thing. It's it's it's you're right. The the the conversation is the whole thing. Because the gospel's deep and, like, a pithy shirt can't get it done. You can't tell that whole story in in this thing. Right? Like and, like, I mean, for what you summed up in ten, fifteen seconds, that's deep that's deep enough to see whether this conversation's gonna go anywhere else. Right? But, like, like, you go you go lifting with Buva here, and he's wearing his through Christ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. And the guy's like, I can lift that weight without your Christ or whatever. Right. So Right. We're done talking. I don't need you. I'm on steroids. That's all I need. I can buy steroids. I was 12. Yeah. Thanks for ripping me apart there, Mike. I'm just I'm just saying if that's what we're It happened. I wasn't there. You were wrong. Yes.

And a child. And know you went back and bought one. And you sent the gospel back. That is I do I I I don't have you so so how have the interactions been going? Like, have you have you had the opportunity before people have asked you about it, and you're like, yeah. Here's the deal. Like, because I think what people are afraid of is they're like, oh, man. What if they actually want to know? And then I tell them what I think the gospel is, and they're like, okay, dude. Fine. And then they leave disgusted with me. Yeah. That would be people's concern. Right? Yeah. And I think it definitely is. And I've had so many different interactions, like some where they're so open and they're, like, eager, and they just let seed planted.

And others where I, like, I start talking about it, they're like, oh, okay. Like, fine. And, like, really just shut the conversation down. And, again, like, that is a seed planted no matter what it was. No matter the conversation was shut down or it kept going, like, a seed is planted, and I think that's the most important part about it. And so, like, I think it's, like, tool it's a tool for proclamation is, like, what we like to say. And so it's not just this T shirt, but it's that approachableness

that, okay. What is that about? And so, yeah, there's been so many different conversations. And even the cool ones where it's just like, okay. I'm gonna tell you about this. And then you're like, oh, I'm a believer too. You have that connection. You know? Yep. And I've had people, just reach out to me that, like, instances like that where, like, I met this awesome person, like, just at a coffee shop. They asked me about my sticker, and, they came up to me. And, we just started having a long conversation about our walk and faith and just really getting confidence in that. I think it's just huge.

And I've even had people literally, like, be like, okay. I had a friend that I was trying to, like, tell about the gospel for so long, and they asked me about my shirt, and I told them. And that was the thing that literally they, like, asked Christ into their heart right there. And I was like, wow. Like, that that's our mission, and that's, like, what we desire out of these shirts. But, like, actually having that happen is huge, and that's, like, the most encouraging thing ever. And it's like, okay. This is, like, has a purpose, and it has a mission. And, like, that motivates us to keep going. That's cool. Yeah. That's gotta be really cool to hear. Yeah. Yeah. No doubt. Now let's talk about let's talk turkey on these on this clothing line. You whipping them out of home? I mean, you got the prints and whatever in your Yeah. I I was late here. I was printing a bunch of shirts he's wearing when he got here. So Yeah. But Man's trying to work, Ben. I was waiting for him him in here. I was at the come and go.

We chose different paths for our life. Okay. Like, of them all of them are person personally done by Blake? All but the fifty first shirts that we bought out out of some other company we've printed. Sweet. Now now so you just,

do I see that you just launched the spring line? Yeah. So tell us a little bit about that. Yeah. Super excited about it. So every season, I think this is our ninth collection that we've done. We just kinda come out with this, just a new design on the back of every shirt. We've always done bolder on the front. That's just because that's the conversation starter. But, actually, this one, we've actually one of the backs of our shirts has the same purpose too. It's the topography of ancient Jerusalem, and we're calling it where Jesus walked

because it was literally where Jesus walked. Mhmm. And so it just this design that's, like, super obscure. And, again, like, what what is that? And you can literally just, like, again, like, talk about the like, birth, life, death, resurrection of Christ, or you just talk about, like, yeah. This is where, like, you like, our savior was on Earth, like, here. You know? And so that that's really awesome as well as another design, which is has the hand symbol

hand sign for love. It has the pierced wrist. So it's Jesus, like, saying I love you. And it says greater love has no one than this that someone laid down his life for his friends. And so just two kind of like Easter kind of inspired shirts and colors as well. But, yeah, we're really excited about it. Yeah. It looks cool. And so, like, if people wanna pick these up, you can certainly do it online. Yeah. And is it bldr.faith. Faith. That's right. Think. Bolder Faith. Yeah. Yeah. There we go. Love it. Bldr.faith. You can go, pick up the stuff, order it online. But you also do, like, pop up camper events? Yeah. Yeah. Once in a while, we do that. We have a we converted it last summer just like this old vintage camper that we turn into some it's like concession stand, spiritual food.

But we we we've done it, I think, four times now and just at coffee shops, at camps, and kind of stuff like that. We're we're just kind of popping up and really just like I love it because, like, so much of, like, these orders and people, like, support is just so, like, on screen. Like, I have no interactions with anyone. Like, I don't really see anyone ever. And so I think the really cool part about it is, like, I actually get to, like, see people excited about this mission and face to face interactions and conversations with people. I love that. Right on. That sounds awesome. Ran into somebody, like, just on the street that you did not know owned the shirt and they have one of them shirts on, you're like, yeah. Oh, yeah. And they have no idea who you are? Yeah. All the time. Oh, I I love that because, like, people are like, oh, do you just, like, go up to the tell them? You I'm like, no. Like, I'll I'll go up and be like, I like your shirt and, like, kinda, like, see how they, like, might, like, start that conversation or something, and some people, like, don't even, like, talk about it all. Be super awesome. Shut up. Hey, man. But Don't buy my shirt and act like a jerk. Yeah. And if someone comes up to me, like, I've had people be like, oh, like, do you I've heard, like, do you and I'll tell them that, like, I've I started it, but, like, I've never, like, gone up to someone and told them that. I I love, like, seeing people be excited about it, and it's not about my brand. It's about Christ's

mission through it. So yeah. Well, I just I I can't get it out of my head. I'd be super disciplined. What if you want a guy wearing your shirt's a big a big jerk face? You know what saying? Like, he's out there yelling at people, tearing it up. Here's the deal. I guarantee that there are people who listen to the show who are terrible people. Yeah. They're awful. Yeah. We don't ever get to meet them, though. That's what I'm saying. No. That's true. That's true. Blake gotta look at them. As long as I'm not terrible while they're listening to us. Yeah. Still no guarantees. Can't control that. Whatever. Come hang out with us. Yeah. I mean, they can come in. Yeah. I'm just saying try not to act like a buffoon once you got the podcast on and not wearing a BLDR shirt. I agree. Preferably not. I mean, I'm glad you bought it, but don't act like a buffoon. I just it's terrible. I just got it that it was boulder. I just got that.

Yeah. That's awful. Was that I mean, did you intend that, or is that you you found that out? Of course, they did. That was from the I it actually did start as boulder like Iraq, like crisis Iraq. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And then I just trend I was like, wait. This makes more sense. You know? Yeah. We're living out our bold faith and These shirts peel like an onion. I'm telling you. They make me weep. It's not mineral. A lot there's a lot of different people like, say, builder and stuff like that too. I I never I never really correct them because I'm like building the kingdom. That'll be fine. Yeah. I hey, it treats it treats it treats BLDR like a like a Jesus parable. It's a Hindu word. Like Matthew Matthew does it one way, and he he has a particular poem about it. And then Luke tells the same story. He's like, yeah. I mean, same words, but I really mean this other thing about it. You're like, man. Yeah. This is fun. Yeah. This is gonna be alright. That's cool. Okay. That's so so if you're interested in the clothing line, one, you can go check it out, b l d r dot faith. You can order stuff there. I there's a cool looking drinker. I just saw the coffee mug. The teak the the there's like a teak drinker? Yeah. Yeah. Oh, man. That looks pretty awesome. What do you mean? What are you shaking your head? It's legit. Of course, that's the one thing you fixate on. You know I love them.

Yes. Agreed. Which is why I said, of course, that's the one thing you fixate. Okay. Okay. So I run the same age. I love it. Okay. So I don't know what just happened. I feel gross. I think I threw up my mouth a little bit. It just came to me. I don't think, boo, we've noticed.

I have a little I have a little view through the Yeah. Yeah. While you were trying to defend yourself, he gave you the belly flash, and it was gross. I mean, it was it made me stick to my stomach. This man needs a shirt. Yeah. Man, we do attempt to make legitimate shows. Sorry. Not today. Not today. You know what? We we really give it a shot. And then I feel like sometimes

when I'm doing alright and Dan's doing alright and Mike's doing alright, that's the one time Ben's like, alright. I've got freedom. I could be me. It's my time to shine, fellas. That's true. This is my job to keep this pony show in order and I did that. Keeps us in play. That's my fault. And with I'm with Blake. I'm sorry, Blake. I'm sorry, Blake. It's it's like I apologize that you now have to be associated with that. You don't have to tell people you were on the show. It wasn't. It's okay. Alright. It's okay. Okay. So anyway, b l d r dot faith. You could pick it up. Also, to to keep up with, what's going on with the company, it sounds like Instagram's the right place. Yeah. Okay. Do you man your own Instagram page? Yeah. Is there anybody else? You got a team of people? I love it. I love doing it. Okay. If it comes out, it's from you. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. That's super cool. What's the Instagram handle? Boulder Faith. Boulder Faith. BLDR BLDR Faith. I love that. Yeah. I feel stupid that I didn't get to catch it on the outset, but I feel very excited about it. Totally just gotten to listen to a sermon about

about your yes yes be a yes, your no be a no, you know whatever, and I'm like, I I've been really trying to work out the times when I'm I've acted a fool, and I've tried to use my words to make it not sound like I've acted a fool. And I'm giving that up. I'm just gonna smile and admit that I completely missed it. And I understand it now, and I think it's great. Yeah. Now now here's what I will will say. If you are looking for any plus size models, let me know. I've got you. We can take care of it. Sounds good. What? Oh,

Ben. Hey. You gotta you gotta keep that in your face. I I appreciate that, Ben. I'll fix it. Again. I'll fix the rest. Plus side model plus size models. Yep. Your camera, the the just fell. Behind the monitor, I think. Wow. This is just in shambles right now. This is great. I don't know what happened. It's the oil producing bible. That's what did it. It threw the whole thing. It's the oil producing bible. The vial leaked. That's great. If we would've just bowed to its wisdom, we would've known this was gonna go so poorly. Again, this is my fault. I'm I'm I cannot think of a single time in the past ten years that this the wheels have fallen off quite like this. Yeah. We are really sorry about that. Cried before. So so so how does this how does this scale for you? Like, what's what's the next big step for you as as a company? What are what are your goals for the next couple years? Like, what's what's what what will feel like you have really established yourself Yeah. As a company, whether it's, for the fashion, whether it's because of of what you guys are trying to do from a Christ falling perspective. What's what's what's goals for you guys? Yeah.

I think that's it's a tricky question. With the sense of, like, I feel like the level of success or whatever, like, is here. You know? Mhmm. And, like, oh, there's so much growth that could happen, but, like, never did I ever dream that it would be where it's at right now. Like, I was like, oh, I wanna start this thing that people get people excited about their faith and what they're doing, and I can use my gifts for the glory of God. And that's where I started. I ordered 50 shirts and never did I would I ever believe I'd even sell a 100 shirts. Yeah. And where we're at now, like, beyond does that. And it's crazy. You know? And

I think that's where I was like, okay. Yes. I have dreams, but it's like right now, it's like I wanna steer what the Lord Yeah. Has given me, and what the mission that he's placed in my life right now. And if that means it lasts two more years and then something happens, it doesn't work out anymore, great. You know? And it it had success for the kingdom. Yeah. Even if just two people came to know Christ from it, you know, or seeds are planted. You know? That is, like, success when I see it. You know? And so

I think big dream would be opening, like, a storefront in a coffee shop and something like that. And I think coffee shops really just, like, have this community surrounded around them and stuff, and it's almost like a this hidden kinda like if you have a Christian band that, like, switch foot or need to breathe that don't actually say they're Christian, you know? Mhmm. So people listen to them and hear the gospel. And the same thing with a coffee shop. You can have this ministry base where people are coming in not expecting it, and same thing with the t shirts and stuff like that. So, like, that's a big dream, and I hope that can happen someday. But, again, it's like I am, like, stewarded what the Lord's given me now, and I'm excited about where it's at now Perfect. Yeah. And where it can go. You know? That's awesome. I like that. Yeah. You let God you let God call the balls of strikes. Right? He says whether things are successful and whether they're not and whether it's time to move on and and whatever. That's perfect. Yeah. That sounds very, very cool. Yep. Alright, man. We've been talking with Blake Stanley on here on Life on the Plath and path. I don't know. I'm having a rough day. I'm having a rough day. Leave me alone.

Leave me alone. Anyway, you can find out more by going to bldr.faith or finding, Bolder Faith on Instagram.

Yeah. Maybe right now would be a good time to plug the complaint line, Ben. Yeah. That's a good idea. Hey. Maybe you think the show's terrible. I understand. This has been a rough day for everyone, primarily you, but also me. And so, you can hit us up on the complaint line. That's (515) 517-0085. The Bob Eisenhower, real estate complaint line, (515) 517-0085. Now you can say anything, including good things about the show, but realistically, it's probably a complaint. And, you can do phone calls or texts and go ahead and hit that up and and let us know what you really think. Yeah. I agree. I checked, the complaint line, and I did not see a response from, from last week,

where we had given such iffy advice on that Oh, man. The ladies entering the thing. I was hoping somebody I so I I had that follow-up discussion with my wife, and she said you guys were right that, yeah, you you would have to call the police. I mean, that's just your hands are tied. Society is what it is. It's police time. That makes me sad. And I It still makes me sad. Yeah. Totally against any advice we ever get. We're always like, just man up. Come on. But it's like, no. Police Last week, we had a situation where we we do live for the past, and and we had a person that, was asking about somebody coming into their home. Yeah. And a child just and a child literally coming to their home going kinda crazy, and they didn't really know what to do. Like, what's the advice on on how to get the kid out of your house? They told the lady, or no. Do you physically remove the child? And we've been doing this for years, and I think it was the most like,

I don't know. We have no idea what to do in this situation. I'm a big monster. I don't wanna touch a kid and, like, push him out of my place and or yell at him or something like that. And then the cops show up and be like, hey, man. You're the size of a car. You didn't need to intimidate that kid. So it's funny on those exact same lines, I I took my daughter to the daddy daughter dance or whatever up at the school, you know. And like over the past three, four years, there's been an increasing amount of women bringing their daughters because I don't know, the dad's gone or whatever, you know. And I thought to myself, like, if society was not what it was, like, I I'm sure I could get good Christ following rented dads to take these kids. I think it'd be fun, you know. Right. But like, I certainly cannot do that. No. It's way out of bounds. There's no possible way anybody ever agree to it. And, like, the whole thing is so shifty anymore that I'm like, I I mean, I got five guys right in my head right now that would love to do this, regardless if it was a boy or a girl. They they just wanna show up and be loving and be like, yeah, I'll take you to the dance. Great. Yeah. And I'm like, it would never fly. And I thought, that's sad. This is just sad. Right? But it's it's so true that you couldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. And so the only option is is is is the mom has to show up with the kids and and bless them for doing it. I you know, no actual problem with that, you know, but, like, I just I just thought I mean, as much as I

had my parents were divorced when I grew up, no one wants to be the weird guy in, say, later elementary school and early junior high where you're doing something different. Right? If it's a daddy daughter dance, you'd prefer just to have a dude with you so they're not like, you brought your mom. You know what I'm saying? Just not another thing for them to make fun of besides your teeth, your hair, your the way you dress, or your smell. Right? Like, all the number fours that you generally get nailed on just don't do anything so obvious. And so it just it just it just stinks is all. You know? Yeah. And there's nothing and there's nothing you could do. And and I thought, man, could get some dudes. And I thought, there's no possible way I could get dudes. Our society is too far ago. No. I just I couldn't do it. I couldn't do it to the guy or the kids. It's horrible. So, anyway, mild disappointment for Mike at the daddy daughter dance. Okay. You wanna do some advice, though? We got time? Yeah. We do. We gotta, like yeah. A little bit. Okay. Here we go. Oh.

Holy cow. This is my favorites. Sorry. I I I hadn't previewed this one. It seems it's waiting. Dear life from the path, five years ago, my older brother had an accident and needed to live at my parents' house while he recovered. Okay? Brought along his four year old dog, quotes Pepper. The dog needed to be on a special diet. My father, who is a major alcoholic, enjoyed having Pepper there. But because he is an alcoholic, you can't tell him anything he doesn't wanna hear. Because my brother had been seriously hurt and was in a hospital bed in a wheelchair, my father fed the dog. Despite my brother's pleas, my father fed Pepper whatever he wanted, including chocolate.

Made Pepper very sick, and he was dead within three months. Oh. Wow. No. The vet said it was because of what my father fed him. Mhmm. My brother blew up at my father. He called him every name in the book, including with the comment that my father was a filthy drunk who deserved to die in the gutter. Despite his injuries, my brother left the house and has never spoken to us again. Regrettably, my mother and I were both dependent on my father and didn't wanna anger him, so we took his side. Almost done. A month ago, I decided to track my brother down. He is now married and lives out of the country with his wife, daughter, and in laws. My brother told me he's sorry for not staying in touch with me, but he no longer wishes to speak to our parents. My mother is pressing me for information, but I'm afraid to tell her and my father much of anything. Should I tell my parents about my brother? Question.

Holy cat. Alright. I mean, it went into a lot of detail here. The I I I don't know why if he he included the part about the dog to really drive home Drunken dad. Drunken dad. Yeah. You know, like Been hurt. I've been hurt. Yeah. I've been hurt. And and the extent of what he did, he couldn't even, you know, get away from the bottle long enough to not kill my dog with whatever random food is there.

But long story short, a guy had we'll just call it a rough family life, has gotten some air and some space away from that and seems to be doing okay? Does he have an obligation to come back and reunite and figure out how to make that dynamic work again?

And remember, you're a follower of Jesus. Right. And he may or may not have spoken somewhat to this area. Yeah.

Well well, the actual question was was His question was, do I have to tell my mom I have to tell mom? Because I have an answer for that, but I don't know. Yeah. Okay. Answer that one. Because I would say you did the research and found them. If they wanna find them, he can too. They can too. So you're you're not obligated?

I mean, I'm not saying you shouldn't, but you're not obligated to. I feel like If they wanna find him, they can find him. Like you can't lie about it. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I don't lie about it. That's the that's the bottom line. Like, if she asks, you have to tell her. Like, we just live truthfully then, so that's it. You know? So Have you talked to your brother lately? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He doesn't like you. Yeah. Not a big fan of y'all. You know? So you might wanna leave him alone. Understandably. Yeah. Yeah. You killed his dog. God dang. So your question is, should the one who's angry and left because he's still in the wheelchair and everything? I don't know. I it does not speak him for How long has it been? Four years. Four years. It's a quick Four years he got married and out of a wheelchair and And he moved out of the country. Like Within loss.

Yeah. He must open up a T shirt business. Yeah. That's She said, I'm out. That's weird. What's happening? He it's in English. It is And all the Greeks are like I'm out. What is that?

What is that? Oh, that's hysterical. Only know quinoa Greek. So it's okay. So he's a Jesus guy wearing one of these shirts, then, yeah, he needs to to reconnect with mom and dad. But if not, I mean, you know, it'd be healthier for him, but but, I mean, he needs Jesus first, and that Yeah. Know? I really I really don't want him to have to reconcile with his family.

Yeah. I know that's not the right way to to live with him, but he does have to forgive it. That's what yeah. Exactly. Right. He's living with this anger. He needs to forgive immediately. That's the thing. Like, that's automatically, that's the thing. Now argue the thought process of does forgiveness mean that I need to get back in contact with my my the rents? Because I think a lot of people would say no. Forgiving them is fine if you just do it in your heart and go, no. I do forgive them, and that's it. But that's not right. If you're thinking that right now, I think you're wrong. Forgive I the the forgiveness of that, it comes with actions. He says do good to your enemies. Right. Bless your enemies. Yeah. Pray for those who abuse you. That there is there is action the things you can't do by not contact. We're we're we're taking up Luke six right now at church, and that's exactly what this is. It's the love your enemy situation,

and we we really miss the actionable portions of that statement. So so to be clear, doesn't it mean you have to live with them. It doesn't mean you let them care for your dog again. It doesn't mean you have to live in their defined role of what a son is supposed to be doing. Right. If it's not if it's not right, if it's not righteous, then it's you don't you certainly don't have to live by their definition of what you're supposed to be. But harboring ill will and not it's just it's a problem. Yeah. It's a problem. You need to forgive them actionably. Correct. God Tammy Oh. Yeah. God doesn't just forgive you in his heart and stand standoffish and, like, I'm not actually gonna interact with them. I forgive him, but that's not who he is. So that's not who we should be. Right? No. That's the straight up truth. Yeah. God forgives us the way that he's like, he's back in the trenches with us. Yeah. His his number one concern really should be his his

alcoholic father coming to Jesus. Right. You know, as opposed to my petty, you killed my dog. I hope you go to hell. I mean, that doesn't seem that's a that's a big woah. Right. I mean And and and and we can approach that without with being able to acknowledge that's legit hurt. Right? But certainly legit hurt that the king knows Yeah. Of course. Course. And the king can handle and the king wants you to have to bring to him. Right? Right. And then we're talking about turning this thing around and going, look. I mean, let's be honest. Your dad's in the straits and you know that. Right? And and, like, your anger for him is wasted, although palpable, wasted. Right? Like, we're gonna pray good things for him, and then we're gonna try to do that as well. I get it. It's a sticky situation.

I feel for the man, but, like, it's just not an option. There's some serious Jesus moving in in in being able to forgive that and and move forward in a, in a constructive relationship that's that's that's God honoring. Correct. Because I mean, that's a that's a huge opportunity for for the dad to to reconcile with his son. Yeah. And like, that's huge. That's huge. When you offer that kind of forgiveness, you're able to show who Jesus is. Yeah. Alright. Let's see what Secular has to say. Secular says, I'm guessing your parents wouldn't be pressing you for information if you hadn't revealed to them that you found your brother. If that's the case, that was a mistake. Moses. By the way, have you seen your brother? If you must reveal anything,

tell him your brother is well and happy but hasn't changed his feelings about them and still wants no contact. Okay. That's what we said. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. I mean, that's that's it seems unnecessarily harsh on that side. But Right? Yeah. Dummy. If you wouldn't have said anything, I wouldn't be freaking asking you. Told the truth to your mom's stuff.

What's it like to be so dumb? What's that feel like for you? Forget you, secular. Whatever. Alright. Here we go. One more. Dear life from the path, I just received a brief friendly email from my husband's grandmama. Mhmm. In it, she asked me if our newest addition was, quotes, a good baby. Oh. Oh.

Phrase is a pet peeve of mine. When she was talking about how many how my mother-in-law wasn't a good baby, I told her that all babies are good babies. I may not be as upset as I am by her using those words if she wasn't terrible with children. For example, overly strict, too high expectations for babies. And if she didn't have a knack for getting into fights with with and complaining about nearly everyone. Boy, you just don't like your husband's grandma. Oh, yeah. Okay. We could have saved a lot of things. Grandmother in law. That's all it is. I want to respond to her email, but I can't bring myself to agree with the premise that the possibility exists that my infant or any infant for that matter could be anything other than a good baby.

I also don't I also don't wanna start a fight with her that would seem petty. Right. And I don't want to blow off do. Yes. Yes. You do. But I also don't wanna blow off her email. What should I do? Here's the deal. You need to go to soapbox.com

and get yourself one because you, sir, have about 75 sentences from one, which should be, hey, man. You don't like the old bird. You can't say anything nice. I would just not reply. How can I reply to this email while still holding the fact that I hate her premise? All all babies are good babies. All babies are good babies. There's no bad inherent baby, you terrible old crone. What? Very babble. Why

are you so mad at grandpa? Yeah. Man. Come on. Have you are a human being, and so is she. Not everything has to turn into a giant political debate She or social debate. It can literally just be, our baby is great. You're missing the That's all it freaking takes. She wouldn't be upset except for the old lady is terrible with children. Doesn't matter. Overly strict Doesn't matter. And has too high expectations. Doesn't matter. What does she expect out of a baby? Why is that baby not holding their head up? Yeah. Is that the auto hire you can lift your eyebrows, baby? Tape a ruler to the back of a baby's head. It needs to be held up. It's freaking ridiculous. I mean, maybe she grew up in Sicily or something. People rough on babies there. I don't know. I don't know why she's so cranky about this stuff, but you're not. Yes.

Here's the deal. You're not gonna change this old woman with your email. It is not it is not gonna change seventy years of being this person by going, now, grandma, what you don't realize is inherently there's no such thing as a bad baby. What you're putting on that is like, no.

You could formulate the most understandable argument on the planet, but it means nothing. So what you can do is you can love on the on the old gal and just be like, my baby's good. Know? Actually She's wonderful. Think away. I'm I'm in I I think Blake's on to something here. I I think you just say, grandma, the baby was sitting from the mother's womb, and that's how it goes. Yeah. That's it. Peace and peace and we're out. We both agree on true things. Let's move on with her. Oh, that's phenomenal. I'm good with that. Hold on. Now listen. I I think she needs to be the adult.

What? This but this is way blown out of proportion. In it, she asked me if our newest addition was a good baby. You should reply, yeah. She's great. Yeah. She is. She's wonderful. She's got postpartum depression. Everything's terrible right now. Just just suck it up. Say, yep. Great baby. You're well, I feel like you're making excuses for the for the the crotchy old woman. She's not she's she's like 90, Dan. Oh, yeah. I'm not saying she's great, but I'm saying that mom's getting a little she's just over Oh, you're arguing that mom has postpartum depression. Cranky with the grandma. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I thought you were saying the 90 year old woman has postpartum depression. I I think that's a really post. For the last seventy years? That would be a rough I just can't shake it. The last time I was pregnant was when I was 26. I'm now 86. That's why I'm so strict. Postpartum depression. That's why all these babies are bad. But the grandma is terrible with children and has a knack for getting into fights with and complaining about nearly everyone. Yeah. Not like me. Not like yeah. Not like me when I complained about her today. Not an aggressive everyone. I'm not aggressive person at all that I find a pet peeve.

A pet peeve in in my husband's grandmama's email. It's so good, baby. Listen to here, Myrtle.

Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. So either just answer ignore whatever other things you've blown into it and just answer the just reply honestly, yes. We're having a great time. Blah blah blah. We really enjoyed this time together. Yeah. Hope everything is well in Marionsville, Missouri. Live live free and die. Yeah. If someone at the QuickTrip asked that same question, she wouldn't get all irate and throw a sucker the true. You over by the hot dogs and someone says, you got a beautiful baby. Is she a good baby? How dare you? Yeah. I know if it's a good baby. Are you saying there's a possibility that she'd be obviously not good? Yeah. How about some mustard to the eye?

Yeah. Right. I like No. It's physical violence, Mike. I like your style. I don't know how my baby It's a very interesting retaliatory response. Mustard. You can say No. You need to look at your grandma the way that Jesus looks to your grandma lover. Right. Like, the the the one of the core questions is is does your answer depend on someone else's thoughts? Like, do I if if you're at the QuickTrip and somebody says, hey. Is your baby a good baby? You go, well, that depends. Do you think all babies are bad? And are you rough with children? What's what's it like to be a gas station philosopher? Is it a lot of fun? You're the you're the yahoo Socrates. You've done a great job. I'm gonna get me a chair and sit at the seven Eleven for me. Now if you've read in the third piece of Plato's, the republic, you could understand that technically speaking, there's no one that's good or bad. Well, you mean, woman. You know you're a bad gas station philosopher where people are like, go back to revelation.

We're tired of this. We've heard these prophecies. Just tell us how we're gonna burn already. Is that for us or not? Okay. Here we go. Segler's advice, and we're out. Segler says, in the interest of whatever family harmony is left intact in granny's wake, limit the drama and give her a brief reply that doesn't refer to good biblis. Something like, it was good to hear from you.

Yes. Dodge it entirely. Period. Flee from old women. Yes. Please. Let that be your only response. It was really nice to hear from you, Myrtle.

I love it. Don't don't actually respond to anything in the email. Dear dear new mom, do you have a good baby? Good to know you're doing alright. Dear grandma, good to hear from you. That's the way it takes Forget everything we've said. That is the right way to do this. That is the right response. We are incorrect. Oh, if that's not on the sermon on the mount, it should be. Just ignore people in general. Blessed are those who ignore their grandmother. Say whatever you want. Alright.

Maybe you're this this this grandmother, and you hate that advice. Try the complaint line. (515) 517-0085. Call or text if you get around to it.
