Segments
- Show open: juggling and party-blower banter 0:11–1:23
The show opens with banter about an 'emergency entertainment kit': three lemons for juggling, a half-unicycle, a bowling pin, and cheap party blowers. The hosts riff on who would own such a kit and what the noisemakers are actually called. Light comedy warm-up before the first real topic.
- Plan to tail the homeless panhandler 1:24–6:54
A host describes a man who stands by the McDonald's by his house every day with a sign reading 'I'm a homeless vet. Need help,' changes clothes, and must go somewhere at night. He floats a plan to tail the man to expose him as a fraud, and the group debates whether that is ruthless, whether panhandling is legal, and whether the man should be prayed for instead. The bit spirals into jokes about demanding the man's tithe and sending an offering plate down to the homeless.
- The Million Dollar Mall comedy bit 6:55–12:18
The group develops a comedy bit about buying the failing Southridge Mall and turning it into the 'Million Dollar Mall': visitors pay $20 entry while a total of one million dollars in vouchers is hidden around the building — in ceiling balloons, toilet dispensers, hand dryers — with games of chance throughout. They work through logistics: vouchers instead of cash to avoid robbery, payouts on prepaid debit cards, security, and night-vision cameras in the darkened Target. The bit includes a plan to sic a listener named Brett Rogers on making it happen.
- Contact info and podcast subscription push 12:19–15:05
A host walks through the ways to contact the show: Skype screen name 'Des Moines Amplified' (no phone line), email at lifefromthepath.org addresses, the website, chat, and Facebook. He explains the RSS feed and iTunes subscription for the podcast audio, notes the feed does not yet include video, and says some listeners signed up over the weekend.
- CafePress merchandise and sound-ministry fundraiser 15:05–16:29
The hosts talk through the new CafePress merchandise page: Life From The Path logos on boxers, mugs, a wall clock, and a Flip HD camera, each marked up $3 over base price. The $3 margin goes to Pathway Church's sound ministry to raise money for needed equipment. A host addresses a listener named Dave about whether he has seen the merch.
- Sound-team back-sweat gag 16:30–17:21
Comedy tangent about how nobody wants to join the church sound team because a host sweats through the wireless microphone packs under the stage lights. The group riffs on projecting the sermon onto seats via osmosis and spraying it on chairs.
- Homeless callbacks and the third-caller clock gag 17:21–18:20
The homeless-man tailing plan resurfaces; a host offers to borrow 'Daniel's' bicycle for the stakeout. The group invents a 'third caller' gag — offering a free $35.99 wall clock to the third Skype caller despite having no phone line.
- Cinnamon rolls and the Dave Funk site numbers 18:20–18:58
A brief aside about sending a clip to Holiday Inn Express for their cinnamon rolls. Then the group learns the previous week's show was posted on the Dave Funk website and drew eight full video views plus 45-50 partial views, joking that the partial viewers only watched the parts Dave Funk appeared in.
- Election day and the third car loan gag 18:59–19:25
Election talk: 'tomorrow's a big day' for voting, and the group ribs the campaign types. Quick gag about someone receiving 'a third car loan' before the phone rings.
- Skype caller Joel Kahn: exam grading and mall seed money 19:25–23:25
The show takes its first Skype call: a caller named Joel Kahn, calling from his phone, who just wanted to test Skype mobile. He explains he is heading out to grade AP math exams (cameras not allowed), and the hosts try to sell him a 3% partnership in the Million Dollar Mall for $2,000,000 plus a free wall clock. He declines and mentions Shark Tank as a better pitch venue.
- Dan Hudson introduced as 'Velvet Crush'; the hip-phone plan 23:27–24:33
Speaker-0 introduces Dan Hudson on-air as 'Velvet Crush himself' and 'Dan, the old testament rocker Hudson.' The show then riffs on a host trying to convince his wife to let him get a 'hip phone,' being told 'the Lord has put you on a plan' — and on a caller addressing Ben by name, noting the Lord speaks directly to his wife. The sound catching up with the video is also noted.
- Emma's bunny crackers: 'God said I can have bunny crackers' 24:34–25:39
A host tells a story about his oldest daughter Emma, who claimed 'God said' she could have bunny crackers for breakfast, and later that God said she did not have to eat eggs for lunch — until Amanda put the smack down. He is proud she speaks with such authority and concerned she is putting words in God's mouth. The hosts riff on children having a higher sensitivity to spiritual things.
- Ghosts, demons, and familiar spirits 25:39–30:48
A long discussion on whether ghosts are real: the hosts' position is that apparitions of the dead are demonic, that 'grandpa Bob' cannot become an angel (angels are created messengers with specific purposes), and that consulting the dead violates Scripture. One host recounts a 40-day church-plant fast during which his five-year-old daughter said she saw a man in the house. A chat question asks what demons gain from impersonating dead relatives: the answer is to pull people away from God by degrees. Paraphrased support: 'apart from the body, be present with Christ' (2 Cor 5:8); a general Deuteronomy reference about the dead.
- Psychics and alien life 30:50–33:52
The hosts take up whether believers should consult psychics: stay away, they say — looking to the future and the dead clearly violates Scripture, and experiences people have are real but demonic in source. Sylvia Browne, Oprah, and Ghost Hunters are name-checked. On alien life: if all creation groans for Christ's return and everything was made here, any life elsewhere would not be eternal-soul life. A chat question — 'does childish behavior bring you closer to God?' — gets the joke answer 'brings you closer to time out.'
- Asking hard questions of God; the Bible is not black-and-white 33:53–38:08
The hosts argue that no topic should be off-limits to bring to God: hiding questions is hiding from God, and everything — ghosts included — should be approached through Scripture, Christ, and prayer. They revisit an earlier 'black and white' discussion: the Bible guides fully but requires interpretation, so hard questions get taken to pastors and to God directly. One host addresses Ben by name in agreement.
- Reading Matthew to a two-month-old; 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice' 38:09–44:42
A host tells of reading Matthew aloud to his two-month-old daughter and stumbling over a line Jesus repeats verbatim twice: 'I desire compassion, not sacrifice' (Matthew 9:13 and 12:7). They compare translations on-air — KJV 'I will have mercy and not sacrifice,' NIV 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice,' NASB 'I desire compassion and not sacrifice,' NLT 'I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices' — and discuss the meaning: not checklist religion and temple sacrifices but a merciful heart. The line becomes an on-air refrain, applied to the homeless man: 'don't harass that poor homeless vet. Show compassion.'
- Faith healers, energy medicine, and chiropractors 44:43–50:55
Relayed from the chat: is there a biblical issue with faith healers like Benny Hinn, energy healers, acupuncture, and reflexology? The hosts draw the line at where you put your faith: trusting something other than God for healing is the problem, but believing God designed the body with points that respond to pressure is not inherently ungodly. The talk extends to chiropractors and the 'gray area' of obsessive dependence on treatments, plus a principle against complaining ('do it without complaint').
- Earwax candles, quackwatch, and garden bugs 50:55–56:21
The health talk turns comic: earwax candling (the chat's 'Olsen' points to quackwatch.org as debunking it), a plan to dare Pants to try one over Skype, and a host eating garden lettuce straight with ranch — bugs included. Tales follow of swallowing a goldfish for a high-school vaudeville project.
- The Revelation hand-on-fire story and live stunt 56:21–1:00:55
A host recounts his high-school world-religions project on the Book of Revelation: he laced his hand with hand sanitizer and held it over a candle while reading the tribulation part. The studio then attempts the stunt live on-air — it burns instead of flashing off — while the group discusses the terrible Ghost Rider movie. The bit runs into the wedding-DJ and Saint Joseph stories.
- Wedding DJ story, Saint Joseph statue, and Olsen's vanilla dare 1:00:55–1:05:08
A host and Ben DJed a wedding at the 801 Grand Building, where free mouthwash in the bathroom upped the venue's swankiness — until a guest sneered at the store brand. Comedy spins into a story about his wife trying to bury a Saint Joseph statue to sell their house, and callbacks daring Olsen to drink vanilla and Pants to try the earwax candle.
- Burning the oil slick 1:05:08–1:06:02
A quick tangent on the big oil slick: why not just burn it off? The hosts muse that it might have worked at the start before the slick dispersed, though the toxins and authorization would have been issues.
- Whiskey, the Red Onion, and the London semester story 1:06:03–1:15:23
Talk of whiskey and a bourbon party leads into a long story: a host's semester abroad in London through community college, where his future wife Amanda won the scholarship (he wrote both papers) and he paid $8,000 to go. They flew Mike and Jared out for a weekend; Mike's arm fell asleep for twelve hours off the plane. London highlights: the Red Onion restaurant's endless free hospitality, historic castles and cathedrals, and a rant about London's total lack of handicap accessibility versus America's excess — down to handicap parking at Target.
- Skype caller Jared: kids, airports, and Mormons 1:15:24–1:26:25
Caller Jared, in Delaware with three kids, poses his airport dilemma: two daughters (six and eight) need the bathroom, there is no family restroom — the group votes for the men's room handicap stall. They revisit tailing the homeless man (Jared: tailing is fine; asking for his tithe is 'absolutely warranted'), joke about a reverse-mission homeless offering plate, and discuss Mormon missionaries — inviting one on the show — plus a Bible-college 'cult class' where a professor invited missionaries to speak.
- Skype celebrity hunt 1:26:28–1:30:45
With the Skype directory open, the hosts hunt for celebrities to prank-call: John Bon Jovi, Yul Brynner (dead), John Goodman, Clint Howard, Tom Hanks, Sylvester Stallone, Gilbert Gottfried. They debate whether 'bastard' is sayable on-air, which prompts a look at the King James wording.
- The KJV says 'bastard': Deuteronomy 23 and Zechariah 9:6 1:30:45–1:33:12
Prompted by the Skype hunt, the hosts look up 'bastard' in the King James Bible: Deuteronomy 23:2 ('a bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD… even to his tenth generation'), Deuteronomy 23:1 ('wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off'), and Zechariah 9:6 ('a bastard shall dwell in Ashdod'). They riff on how restrictive the old covenant purity rules were and mention Leviticus 17 as 'filled with all kinds of exciting stuff.'
- Tower of Power's 'What Is Hip?' video takedown 1:33:14–1:34:36
Dedicated to Bill Conn: the hosts watched Tower of Power's live 'What Is Hip?' video and were disappointed — five dudes who look like Tom Selleck and Weird Al Yankovic playing horns in flowery Magnum PI shirts was 'not hip at all.' A segue about the Robert Palmer music video and a scary-doll post office commercial follows.
- Post office renamed for Iraq/Afghanistan veterans 1:34:37–1:35:57
The downtown post office was renamed the Veterans of Iraq/Afghanistan War Post Office. The hosts support the troops but roast the politics of it: save the letterhead money and give veterans better pensions instead.
- Skype donkey hunt, Methuselah, and Rue McClanahan 1:35:57–1:42:47
The Skype directory hunt continues: 100+ people with the full name 'Donkey' (including one in Norwalk, Iowa and 'the love doctor one' in Whyalla, Australia), searches for Jesus and Nebuchadnezzar (none), a Perth 'donkey' who is not online, and a time-zone debate. Tangents: growing hair like Methuselah, a Keith Richards impression, and Rue McClanahan's recent death — Maude, Golden Girls, and what Dan's era called 'getting active.'
- Tambourines at church and Jesus' new guitar 1:42:48–1:44:07
The hosts imagine tambourine dancers in the church auditorium, then ask what brand of guitar Jesus would want: a Taylor, though the quality may have cheapened since they sell at Best Buy. Talk of 0% Best Buy financing tees up the money segment.
- Dave Ramsey, car leases, and debt freedom 1:44:07–1:52:40
A long money segment: a host's painful car lease (over mileage, turn-in fees, cumulative payments for a car they must give back), the Dave Ramsey program ('live like no one else so you can live like no one else'), four-walls budgeting that kept food on the table, and the liberating feeling of paying off a car and a credit card. The hosts defend Ramsey getting rich off the program ('he's educating people'), roast 'free advice' like maxing cards for perks, and note the spender/saver marriage dynamic with Cheryl. Closes with a Harbor Freight credit card joke.
- Sign-off and church announcements 1:52:42–1:53:20
Sign-off: lifefromthepath.org, Pathway Church in Johnston, Iowa (thepathonline.org), services at Wallace Elementary at 10 AM with two services starting in September, podcast signup, and 'back next Monday night from ten to midnight.'
- Outro music: ZZ Top's 'Sharp Dressed Man' with Dustin McCray 1:54:16–1:59:01
Post-sign-off music segment: the hosts take listeners to the Texas Motor Speedway (350,000 seats, '37 people' at their show) for ZZ Top's 'Sharp Dressed Man,' featuring 'our own resident shop dress band, mister Dustin McCray' from West Virginia. The music plays out to the end of the recording.
Bible references
- 2 Corinthians 5:8
apart from the bodies, be present with Christ
- Deuteronomy
scripture is very plain. Don't talk to grandpa Bob… I think Deuteronomy talks about, like… with punishment of death
- Matthew 9:13
but go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy and not sacrifice for I am not come to call the righteous but sinners for repentance
- Matthew 12:7
there it is in Matthew twelve seven again. The exact same quote
- Hosea 6:6
I desire compassion, not sacrifice — the line Jesus quotes in Matthew 9:13 and 12:7 originates in Hosea 6:6 (not cited on-air)
- Zechariah 9:6
And a bastard shall dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines
- Deuteronomy 23:2
a bastard shall not enter the congregation of the Lord. Even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the Lord
- Deuteronomy 23:1
He that is wounded in the stones or hath his privy member cut off shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord
- Leviticus 17
Leviticus 17 is filled with all kinds of exciting stuff
- Philippians 2:14
Do it without complaint — phrase matches Philippians 2:14 but no reference is named on-air

Full transcript
What an embarrassment. Zach, we're looking at you directly. Entertain people while Hey. So keep working on something. I do juggle. I'm looking for jugglers. Nothing to juggle. Yeah. I can do under my legs, behind the back. Oh. Yeah. This is real. What do I can What could you possibly be looking for? Yeah. Something to juggle. If you have three lemons in your bag or something. Done, we're for the boys. We got microphone thing. Very rarely do you have an emergency entertainment kit that contains three jugglings, a half a unicycle. And a bowling pin. And those things that go I would leave it to Dan to to actually have that. Yeah. Good. What are those things called anyway? You know, you blow in them and they go Yeah. The Little whistle thingy? Party driver. Party blower. That's all. Yeah. They don't really whistle. They just kinda Just yeah. That's the exact sound they make. No. They don't It sounds like unrelated paper. It's not a goat They paper. It's not used to. No. Back in my day. Actually, that's true. Some of them But they're so cheap, they don't. Some of them if you buy the cheap cheap ones, you get the without the actual whistle on it. You're you're my cow. And then if you blow again at the end of that, then it goes I
don't know about that. I must only have had the cheap ones. Yeah. You I think so. And the paper, swim trunks. Exactly. Here's toy. So here's what I need your help on. So there's a guy that stands at the Donald's over by my house by the dolls, and he's been there for ever since the weather's got decent, And he's homeless, man. He claims on the sign. He says, I'm a homeless vet. Need help. You know? And so he's there every day. Every day I pass him, every day he's there. He changes clothes, and he has to go somewhere at night. So I'd like to set up a sting. Like I'd like to follow him and it's it's not illegal to tail somebody, right? No. That's legal. Is it You just happen to be going where they're going. Is is panhandling not illegal? I think it depends. There's something You can register. It isn't like New New York New York. They they really cracked down on that. Can you register as a Panhand? Because they're just like yeah. There was a big article in newspaper. It's been a couple years maybe several years ago now because that that the Merle Hay exit on I 80 is like a hot spot. And they were talking about some of those guys make $35.40 grand a year Yeah. Just sitting on the interstate. There was there was an old story about a guy in I think out of LA
who he would put on his raggedy clothes and all this stuff, maybe in a long scraggly wig or And then he'd he'd do that all day and then he'd go in the back alley it was like his Mercedes literally and he made $100 a year. And they put down like Panhandle or whatever. That's their occupation. Oh yeah. Legitimate IRS deal. Really? Well but if it's legitimate can you can you lie? Can you can you tell falsehoods on the sign? What's the table you're Like how do you even get to be like mean, to be honest like I'm perfectly capable of working. Yeah. I just want your money. Yeah. To be honest. I mean you can't you can't you can't people can you people can be sued for false advertising. Sure. Can you sue this guy? He claims to be homeless and shot. You try. Small claims court. Maybe I should you you think that would be ruthless to take a a homeless vet to small claims court? It would make the news. And say, look, that's false advertising. You are neither homeless nor a radio show. I don't know. It's
true. There's gotta be at least one of them And at the same time, it's pretty hard work. I would not wanna do that job No. When it's like really really hot or really really cold or even if it's just a nice day, I I don't wanna just sit there and Yeah. You know the you know the problem is you know what? That's probably a crappy job too because you make your most money in the most destitute of situations. Yeah. Like, if it's pouring down rain and you're still, I'm homeless, man. Need to help. They're like, oh, man. That dude's rough. You know? He's not even hiding, you know. But what are gonna do with the people that wanna buy you a sandwich? Then you're like, why actually I think my wife gave them a a McDonald's gift card once. Yeah. And ever since she told me that she did, I've been I've kept my eye on them. Yeah. Like a sneaky weasel. That was my gift card. I'm on to you. I had a double cheese coming. I'm a I'm a stake him out. Like, I I I don't know. I mean, because he's out there for a long time, but, I mean, he's gotta call it a day at, like, eight, 09:00. Yeah. I'm stake him out in the parking lot. I'm a follow him home. See where Hire an investigator. That's the highest cost to me, man. Yeah. He's killing. You could you could pray for him, Mike Yeah. Instead of following him around. Well, I wanna make sure he's a liar first. Maybe he's on the up and up. Doesn't he need prayer either way? Maybe not. He's on the up and up but still has got nothing. If he's a slick willy, I mean, more power to him. He just he's he's he's adapted himself so he can live his life in a different manner than you and I can. That doesn't mean he's living it poorly. He just, has allowed his But it is like false pretenses. Yeah. Unless he's a liar. That's my point. Like, if he really is homeless and he really is a vet, first of all, he's not doing a very good job at panhandling because, obviously, he's still homeless. And second of all, if he's not currently homeless, then he's lying. And is he tithing?
If he's not giving a difference. He's bring an offering plate down the homeless people. Yeah. Maybe he I saw they give you a dollar, give me a dime. You think it would be wrong if I stop by at the end day and say you owe the lord 10%? Let's have it. Damn it. You should that is what you should do. You're a new poll, Dan, or a a reverting poll who's gone from from being the man of god back to the tax collector. Oh. Don't don't don't. That's not for taxes. Yeah. Like anybody's gonna take you serious. I'm a man of god here to take from the homeless people. Oh, we're a caller. Yeah. That's that's that's not the part of church that most people don't want anything to do Yeah. I'm here for your salvation, but I'm gonna need some tithing upfront some here. Cash. How much you got on you? We're gonna definitely do CC stuff. I bet they don't hear that too often. It didn't be a good conversation. That would actually be that would be better than telling him you should do that and film it. And Glad I wanna exploit the man. I just wanna make sure he's not a liar. I think he's being duped by him. Not to avoid him but just just to Did you ask him a direct question? No. Would talk to him. Yeah. You have a lot of presumptions here. Yeah. It's true. Yeah. Why don't you ask him first? Maybe he does really sleep under the bridge. Ben Film. I don't think does. There's no good place to sleep around there. That's the thing. I'm gonna take his change of clothes. I don't know. He doesn't have a bag on him. Somebody's gotta be keeping the bag somewhere. He's got a Mercedes around the corner. He goes somewhere. Though though they always say home is where your heart is? So if your heart is under a bridge, you are not homeless. Not He's not happy. Not homeless is where your heart is. His science I should say just don't I am without constructive building material. I don't have an adequate shelter. And that's even a stretch. I mean, a kibble is a good place to sleep. Where would you sleep if you were homeless? Under a slide.
At a park? Yeah. About in a slide? You'd get arrested right away. What about in, like, the the like, a water slide? What do I care? I care if they rested That's true. That's even better. They can do is kick me out of the park. Give you something to eat. Yeah. And they can't be in the park all night. Like, how many times they're either gonna do I I don't think they're gonna throw me out of the park like four times before they actually finally take me in. Either way Or never Or not come back and you're free for Yeah. Or I get to stay. Yeah. I'm I definitely stay in there. That play equipment they put the kids in, there's a bunch of tunnels and holes and roofs and stuff. Yeah. You could stay in there. You could easily sleep inside one of those tunnels. I bet you could. I bet you could hunch back in Notre Dame yourself in a mall. You know, like find somewhere to sleep. Just thought that would be fun is to try and try and get yourself locked into the mall. I mean, where they didn't because you're thinking like, do they really walk around every inch of like one of those huge stores like the the Yonkers or Village or I don't know whatever. Well now they have the motion detectors you know it used to be they'd have to walk cameras but yeah. But you could find you could easily find a corner you know. Remember when we're gonna change we were gonna try to buy Southridge Mall Yeah. And turn it into the movie? You could buy it for nothing. We were gonna Is there any stores open in there? Yeah. I've been there for years. Oh, no. It's terrible. It's half empty. It's it's not doing well. That's the truth. Well, it hasn't for like twenty years. I don't I don't think it's been that long. Well, it's been probably ten. A while. That's that's half of your original statement. Yeah. I scaled it back. Ten, twenty. That's more accurate. Grand
assumption. It's been a million years. Southbridge has been in the tanker. 10. I rounded. But we were gonna buy it. I think we did we tell you this about Daniel? I remember you talking buy it. We're gonna change it to the million dollar mall. That's right. Yeah. Where's Brett Rogers. How much were you gonna buy? Brett, if you listen to the show, I'd like you to work on this. This seems like something you might be able to pull off. Yeah. So we high we we we we buy the mall, and you pay like $15 to get in or $20 to get in or whatever and we've hidden a total of a million dollars in this mall. Yeah. And you gotta find it. There's like a there's like a thousand balloons up on the ceiling and you could try to shoot them down. There might be money there. You can get like people with guns in. Well, we we'd have Okay. We have to give you the pea shooter or something. Yeah. Yeah. And even better, charge them a buck for a shot or something. Yeah. Give them even more. There's like there's a rock climbing wall, there's like there's like a bunch of activities where you could have fun even if you walk in and muddy, but the point is if you pay us $20 to get in, it's like gambling but with games. Instead of table games or whatever, you're running around, you're climbing walls, you're shooting balloons, games of chance. So you should probably walk out of there with $12 Right. Most of most of the time. Right. You might find you might find a 50 a $50 voucher if you're willing to pull the fire alarm which you thought was a fire alarm. Was a winner. Exactly. 200,000. And like every time there's a there's a like a dispenser on the on the toilet and every time you flush it, it kicks you know, it could kick out a voucher for $3 or whatever. You push the hand dryer, maybe a voucher will come out or maybe it's a hand dryer. Could be right. But I mean, think Maybe it's dog poop. Let's say you could get in there You might wanna consider it. You could get in there $20. I mean, you could have a whole day worth of fun chasing money at the price of $20. True. And there's a guarantee there's a million dollars in there somewhere. Like, may be it's probably aggregate, like, ball put together, but there's a total of a million dollars in there for the take. Every day and whatever comes out Do you actually have stores in there too or you just No. Empty it all But you can have different activities in different stores or whatever. And like you you could run different things during the day where you know at 09:00 all of a sudden there's like a there's we let loose a guy in a bowler hat and you know if you can find him and steal his hat there's $8 in there.
When you feel bad, once people start getting onto this bowler hat idea, gonna be like, I was telling her, don't want to go out today. John, get out there. But I don't want to go. We said it was gonna get real pricey trying to the security in this place because I mean Yeah. If there's a million dollars for grabs, that means everybody around you is likely to have at least some money on them. And you know, some of the like, what we were gonna do with the Target, it was just gonna be dark. Like, I mean, dark. The Target and there was gonna be $200 on the floor in the Target but I mean you're all dark in this abandoned Target. People got cell phones. We don't allow cheating. Yeah we'll have to take all that stuff away and we'll have like night vision cameras. Like we'll have guards in there with vision cameras to see what's going on. Smack people around when they can't see it coming. Yeah, we could back it up. If someone got the million, they wouldn't get the million dollar the first day. It's all about this is a question from the chat. Could we back it up if someone got the million the first day? The whole point would be You'd have to be real smart about it, right? Just like if you open a casino, yeah, you might have $100,000,000
on you. It's not all gonna leave the first day. The chances are whatever. A gazillion. I'd be the guy who loses the million the first day and my business closes. So maybe You know the you know the bonus part is though, is like if somebody showed up to rob you, they're in the same boat as everybody else. Yeah. Like, try and find it. You gotta find it. You wanna know the good luck. Know, it's like that you can't just say go to a safe against like, it's in here somewhere. At least it'll be here in eight minutes. Yeah. Good luck. Know? The best thing to do is a you your own map that that showed you where the the true money was like like as the owners or would you not even know either? Yeah. How do you keep the employees from stealing? Well, think I think you'd have to have We would do vouchers. Like it wouldn't be actual money out. Like you would have to bring the vouchers and cash them out and obviously if we see the Yeah. And you'd Just like a casino is. You'd have to pay I think we do payouts on a prepaid debit card. Cause that way you don't have to keep a million dollars in cash in the premises because then you will get robbed. Right. We just have to have vouchers equivalent to a million dollars. Yeah. Yeah. But see, I work But that's what I'm saying. Like, do you have obviously, there's gonna be certain hotspots throughout the place Yeah. That's gonna have a couple grand or whatever it is. Are you gonna know where it is or do you guys even know where Yeah yeah we would know where it's at because we would But so that's the thing is a robber's gonna come and he's gonna come to your house and say take him to the map. Yeah. Shoot me. Whatever. I'm not gonna give you $20,000 just because you're some kind of You'd rather die? Shoot me. It's I'll do it all for family. Forget it. Shoot. I wanna die. I don't wanna give you that. Now if they threaten my family, I'd probably have to turn over the information, but you shoot me. Yeah. I ain't giving you nothing. Replaceable. Okay, real quick, I meant to cover this at the start of the show, but there are ways to contact us. The best way to do it is to Skype. The screen name here is Des Moines Amplified. It's all
spelled out, D E S M O Y N es Amplified. Feel free to call us in via Skype, but we don't have a phone line that comes straight into the station here, so use the Skype. You can send us an email, anything basically at lifefromthepath dot org we'll get, although we won't get during the show. You can also visit the website at ww.lifefromthepath.org. Please, can also participate in the chat or we are on Facebook. Those are ways to get a hold of us. While I'm thinking about it, there are actually a lot of cool stuff going on at the website if you guys can make it out there. If you go to lifefromthepath.org, we've made some
changes to it. Most recent show is still on the front. There's kind of a description of the show that we didn't have out there before. On the left hand side, there's a button there that says subscribe to podcast with a little orange icon. That's an RSS icon. If you don't know what that is, it's RSS stands for real simple syndication. It's like a newspaper basically, right? If you subscribe to a newspaper except for here you're subscribing to something electronically. And just like the newspapers have that little orange bucket, you have to have some way to receive the information other than your general email box. There's things called RSS readers. Google has one. Yahoo has one. If you just do a search for RSS feed. If you use Microsoft Outlook, a newer version, they will handle RSS feeds as well. But anyway, you can subscribe, to the show via that RSS feeder or you can subscribe to the podcast.
You can't find it on iTunes currently, but if you click that subscribe to podcast and then choose iTunes, it will put it into iTunes for you and you can get the audio version. Did you try that? Yes. Yeah. You can get the audio version. In fact, have some people that signed up over the weekend. Sweet, sweet. I don't know who it is. If you do the RSS feed, you get the video too? Yeah. The RSS feed is, well actually the the one that's out there is actually just for the audio. I I was gonna put, the video feed out there. I probably should. It links to where we post the videos. So I'll work on a video feed too so you can pick your poison on that deal if you want to. I I know sitting at the computer and watching for two hours is kind of tough. But if you put Oh, not it on an iPhone Oh, you do that, Dan? No, I'm just Okay. That's okay. You use your time wisely. This is high quality stuff. I'm saying most people are probably riveted right now. So anyway, if you could jump out to the website, you can sign up for the podcast. You can watch recent shows, old shows. There's also on the right hand side, there's a list of upcoming shows and previous shows. And one of the cool things about what the radio station's offering is you can kind of go in and comment on the old shows if you like. Didn't see that. We'll be posting a synopsis of the show. I'll type That's kind of dangerous. Yeah. I haven't seen anybody comment on the old shows. They're not doing it but you can. It's available. So I put it out there so you'd have a way to do it. So you can go out and do that. Also I added merchandise.
Did you go look at the merchandise, Dave? I did. You can go to, just click on the merchandise There's a link and it basically we're shilling. We took the Life From The Path logo that we have and plastered it on every piece of material they had on the Cafe Press website. Did you find the paper underwear yet? There there is a pair of dudes boxers out there. Yes. I want the paper ones. $15.99 to pair of dudes boxers. Now now here's the deal. Father's Day is coming. Yeah. There's mugs so these mugs are reasonable. $13.99 for the mugs. That's reasonable. The clock the wall clock seems alright. No. No. No. That wall clock is egregious. Live Path modern wall clock, $35.99. Woah. That seems awesome. Wow. Hey. We do have Live From the Path flip HD camera. Some of those flip cameras. Oh, really? Yeah. It's got the logo on it? Yeah. 192 point 99 dollars Buy one for all your friends. You set that at $3 profit margin? Yeah. Yeah. So here's what we did. Everything is at a $3 profit. They basically give you a base price for all these products when you buy them from the website. We mark everything up $3 The $3 goes directly towards Pathway Church and we're actually using it to raise funds for the sound ministry for some equipment that we need,
large sum of money that we need to raise and if God's behind it, I'm sure he'll come through with it. So this is Maybe not to to do that. Live from the past merchandise sales. He might. Not that wall clock. He might. Yeah. He might. So You said communicated well, by the way, the last two Sundays. Yes. Very good. Thank you, Dan. Yeah. Right. Very nice. In the way of uncommunicated, people know. How are people to know what the lord wants to tell you Projected to their osmosis. Brands. Yeah. We spray it on the seats. People sit on it. They just learn it. That's disgusting. We're trying to get people into church. It's a wet goof seat. Come on in. Welcome. Yeah. I'm disgusted and I attend the service. Or maybe I'm disgusted because I attend the service.
Who's to say? That's why the dwindling numbers. Actually, we're having hard a hard time getting people onto the sound team because every time Dan does a service, he he gives us the wireless, the wireless pack and he's got back sweat on it. Yeah. He's back sweated onto it from the service. In his he is standing under some some bright lights pointing at him. Not, well, not as heat intensive anymore. Yeah. No. It's getting better. I agree. In either case, yeah, we've had to put gloves back in the sound industry. Did we agree that I was gonna I was gonna tail this homeless man? Was that a good idea? Can I borrow your car, Daniel? You can borrow my bicycle.
Hey. That's even better. I tell you what. If you're having trouble calling the if if you're on the chat and you're having trouble calling the Skype and you want me to call you, I'll call you. Just say, call me. I can pick that out. Hey, you. I'm gonna see whether you bought anything from the website or signed up for the podcast. And if you've done both of those, then I'll I'm willing to call you on the Skype. That's cool. Are we giving out a free clock to the third caller? We don't have any money invested. We don't have We literally I thought that was pretty good safe. That was pretty safe. There's no phone. So Hey. That's yeah. That's good. Just Okay. We we outed. Third caller. Clever idea. Yeah. Life in the past clock. Go look trying to find the number. Not Skype. That does not count. Yeah. But that's not that whole setup that you just had was not advantageous except for to laugh at somebody and go, we don't have a phone. They keep calling and, you know Well, it sounds like we're offering something that can't we can't fall through. That's true. $35.99. I don't I mean, give them mugs. We should give out those those Holiday Inn Express cinnamon rolls. Did you send that thing in? Let me That little clip? Were gonna send a clip into the No. No. I'll I'll get to it. Oh, disappointed. Did you see that they posted last week's show on the the Dave Funk website? I heard that. Oh yeah? Yeah. We got some pretty good numbers from that. Really? We had, eight people actually watched the full video, which is a lot for a full two hour video coming from somebody else's website and then there were like 45 or 50 that that watched
portions of it. Probably just the ones Dave was on. These Who idiots? Didn't know how to say that. Yay, Dave. They're all campaign people. I hate those other guys. Exactly. You see, you seem, you know, interesting. Tomorrow's a big day. It'll be interesting to see how that all turns out. Yeah. Tomorrow. Yeah. Are you going out? Oh, absolutely. Are you going out to participate? Yeah. I gotta do it. Yeah. Hold on. Is that for me? Let's see what we got here. It's a third car loan. I'm the homeless guy.
Don't follow me. I'm busy. Isn't that the beginning of a song? Yeah. Hello? Hello? Hello? Who is this? Con. Joe Con. Who's Joe Con? Joe Con? Thank you thank you for joining live from the path on desmoinesamplified.com. Yeah. I had to turn down my sound so I wouldn't get feedback. Yeah. Yeah. No. No. That's that's a good move. Hey, Lucky win. That took pants two months to figure out. Old pants. Con, what what's on your mind?
Well, I just wanted to try to Skype mobile out. I I just downloaded on my droid, and you've been talking about Skype all the time. So I I go, hey. I'm gonna call live and. Are you Skyping from your phone? Yeah. This is on my phone. That's awesome. That is way off. Joel Khan is cool. Yeah. That's pretty slick. Does he look grady and unflattering? No. He no. There's no no video. Oh, no video. Lost you. Yeah. I'm still watching you guys. Wait. Oh, you can still see the show? Is it live or are we, like, delayed? It's delayed, of course. So you can't see the face I just made at you, you won't know for a while. Wait for it. It's coming in. Wait for it. Well, that's pretty It's really weird. Your lips don't mess the sound at all. That's normal. Yeah. We we pipe in voice behind Dan. We're all ventriloquists. Hey. So Joel Kahn, you're heading out to a to a conference here this week, are you not?
It's not really a conference. It's more we're just grading those exams. Oh, yeah. That's right. Grading exams. Like a good time. Grading. This is quite the operation he's involved in, though. Like, they're they're grading they're grading some exams. I mean, and there's, like, It's like a pyramid scheme, this thing. There's levels and levels of dudes grading exams, looking to having some other dude look It's like AP math exams. Oh, okay. AP math. Yeah. Is this how you have to do it? Is this a requirement to grade these things or it just for fun? Not a requirement, but they give you a rubric and they expect you to follow the rules for the letter. Yeah. See, even the fact that the that the word rubric is involved Yes. Impresses That's me. I mean, this is this is something. Yeah. It sounds actually it sounds actually like a like a pretty cool thing to see and then and then leave. Guys, can you video that and send it in? No. What's that? Can you video parts of that and send it in for us? No. Cameras are not allowed. Oh, no doubt. Yeah. You want to see if could break it? It's the AP math exam, Daniel. Hey. My daughter's gonna be taking it someday.
So This is this is top secret stuff. Con, were you willing to to put out some seed money for this million dollar mall? You know, I was thinking about it, but Just say you gonna cost less. You're gonna have night vision cameras and security. I mean, we are buying a mall. We're gonna he's gonna crash. We might as well go whole hog then, right? Yeah, a simple investment of $2,000,000 will get you a 3% partnership in this deal. And a free clock. Yeah, think we can If you put $2,000,000 into a Joel Cutt, I think we can get you that clock. There's no doubt. Well, let me ask the wife. We'll we'll go back into the safe and and see if we got enough. Yeah. We might sign the clock too. Yeah. For 3,000,000. And then you can't see what time it is but Yeah. You you know. It's quarter past the deep. Have you guys seen that show Shark Tank? Yeah. That's you we could go on that show and pitch the the mall idea. You're out. You're not coming on that show. You naysayed it. You said bad things about the million Did I? Did you? You kept bringing up ridiculous situations that we wouldn't have thought of. Hey. We gotta think this through or else there those investors are gonna tear down. The brainstorming has been done, mister Johnny. Grab onto the horse. I want part of this action. Now that we're going with it. Okay. You guys. The only thing that you came up with was my family being kidnapped and ransacked. That's true. You gotta think about these things. You keep that map map laying around.
They might just cut off your thumb and put on the That's true. The security thing. Joe Con. Joe, you're still on Con? Oh, yeah. Listen to all of it. Yeah. Yeah. He's still hanging out. Excellent. Wait. Anything else on your mind? I thought from the beginning, it'd be a terrible interview. No. I thought it's been going pretty well. We're we're giving dating advice. Did you have a question? No. That's good. That's good because you're married. Don't take advice from Velvet Crush. Trust me. Yeah. Oh, man. This is Velvet Crush. No, Garner. I prepared a good introduction for Dan. Okay. Check this out. And to my immediate left is Velvet Crush himself, mister Ike Whether that's my wardrobe or a couch, Dan, the old testament rocker Hudson. How are the days of Elijah?
We did Sunday would have been an awesome time to play that. I I could have pulled out all the good old testament stuff. Didn't do any of it. Yeah. Well, what were you thinking? I have no idea. I was not thinking. I caved to the pressure. Actually, the sound has caught up with the video. It's pretty cool. Oh. I tried to convince my wife to let me get some hip phone, and she said the Lord has put me on a plan to not have a hip phone. Dude, you're like two weeks away from homelessness. You gotta stay next to that guy at McDonald's. Can't a guy dream? I say, look, I I need hip phones when we get money back. She goes, the Lord has put you on a plan. Keep repeating hit phone ain't in it. Hey. I was like, Ben, the Lord speaks directly to my wife.
Amazing. Actually, I was amazed this this past week. And I don't know. I'm somewhat proud and somewhat concerned about this this this this particular item here. But, my oldest daughter, Emma, wakes up and, and she goes, usually she she could only have cereal like once or twice a week because otherwise she eats eggs and oatmeal and other stuff. And so she comes in and she goes, dad, God said that I can have bunny crackers for breakfast. And I said, he didn't say that. She goes, God said this is the deal. I get to have bunny crackers for breakfast. And I thought, well, maybe maybe that is the deal. So why does it say? Who who else speaks with such authority? I the gave bunny crackers. And then later on the day, like, at noon,
Amanda was making egg sandwiches or something. And she said, God said, I didn't have to eat eggs for lunch. And Amanda put put the smack down and said, no, he did not say that. But then I thought, well, at least at least Tim was taking God's direction with full authority. I'm I'm pretty sure she's putting words in his mouth. God says it. I'm in. But at least she knows that, you know, God's running I the I think I think that children, I mean, in honesty, have a a higher sensitivity to to spiritual things and and to I mean, truly, the spiritual world. I mean, I don't know that that I doubt that was a god. Does that count like ghosts? I don't believe ghosts are real. They're they're demonic. They're not if you mean ghost as in a human being who's died and their spirit is floating around, how many people that's not they either they're to be Paul said apart from the bodies, be present with Christ if you're a believer. So there are Can people see angels ever? Yeah. So so it's can't my can't my grandpa Bob be an angel? No.
No. An angel created being a grandpa Bob would be a spirit that went on to be with Jesus, and he's busy. You can't graduate to be an angel. Like, they already exist. Messing around with us. Why would they do that? But there are angels that are the word angel is the Greek means messenger. So we've kinda made that a sexy word. Oh, angel. It just means messenger. So God has spiritual beings that are messengers. It's not like they're just floating around like, well, heaven's kinda boring. I'm gonna hang out on earth. I mean, they're they're always here for a specific purpose to do a specific thing. But the Lord will most certainly not send my grandpa Bob. No. Matter of fact, scripture is very plain. Don't talk to grandpa Bob. Oh. Really? Yeah. What's to say? With I think Deuteronomy talks about, like like, mean, with with punishment of death. Is it because at that point, if grandpa Bob has shown up, he's likely demonic?
I would say so. Because God wouldn't send Grandpa Bob angels that would take messages back and forth are the angels that were with him like prior to like people dying and going up, correct? Like you were saying, it's like Remember it. And then if you're seeing grandpa Bob, it's obviously not either of those two things that God said, so it's gotta be something that's not what God Yeah. Has said. And I I don't I don't doubt that people have seen things, but they're not angels. And they may look like grandpa Bob and they may But it sound like grandpa might know things grandpa Bob knew, but demons have been around for centuries. They're slick. True. Yeah. They know everything there is to know about grandpa Bob. Exactly. They just can't control They can speak in his I mean Well, yeah. I mean, if they're mean I don't like demons parading around like other people. That seems slimy. Call a familiar spirit. I don't like it. See When we started our church, we had a forty day fast prior to the church starting, the whole church thing. I mean, like, everybody took like a day type thing. And then through the whole fast, you'd give up like something. And and at that point, our youngest daughter would have been, oh,
five ish. Say five. And, you know, we didn't tell her she's gonna you know, I'm not you're gonna fast, you know, but but we she must have heard us having conversations And, you know, what are you gonna give up? You're gonna give up anyway, one day she just said, okay, I'm gonna give up lollipops. I thought, well, that's kinda cute, you know. Yeah. And of course, like, from day one, almost every day people offered her lollipops Yeah. During that. Was just hilarious. And she was strong. She was just like, nope. Well, anyway, four weeks, three weeks, I don't know, whatever, into this thing, she's laying in bed at our house and and and it's a pretty intensely spiritual time. I mean, you're starting I mean, you're planning a church. I mean, it's like a god thing going on. And she tells me that she saw this guy in our house.
And and she I mean, she explained it to the detail what this guy looked like. And he looked at her, and I don't I don't remember it well. She could probably tell a lot a lot better. And and I was just kinda like one of those freaky moments of wow. It wasn't like a a scary demon thing. It was it sounded like it was almost like an angel. You know, like she thought that was pretty cool. Mhmm. And I was like, well, you know, what do you what do you do? It could it could have been maybe she had, you know, too many bunny crackers or or whatever. Whatever. Right. Or Yeah. It could have been children, young children, just can see things we can't see, I think. That would creep me out. Yeah. Think I would be creeped out. I'm creeped out right now, and I'm not even firsthand to it.
I'd be down with it. It'd be kinda cool. I just wanted to say something different than everybody else. I'd I'd be pretty creeped out too. Yeah. I was creeped out with the whole demon thing. Yeah. That's creepy. I won't tell those stories. Yeah. That's And the and the the question, on the on the chat was, like, what would the the purpose or benefit be of the demons to, like, look like grandpa Bob, for example, or any demonic behavior? And I I think Pull you away from God. If you start Yeah. Trick you. Yeah. Exactly. Exactly. All of sudden, oh, grandpa Bob. You look for grandpa Bob for advice rather than God, than scripture. And then you have these guidance spirit guides, you know, anything that just slowly, gradually pull you away from Jesus. Or it confuses you and so now you start thinking about other things Exactly. And opens up your mind and Alright. Because demons are stupid. Like, if you come up to a person with any type of faith with a direct affront and say, you know, the lord is a sham. You know, people will go, the lord is not a sham. Get away from me. You don't speak to me this way. Yeah. You know? But then if you if you if you kinda be like, hey. The I think that's my grandpa. You can't believe you know? Like, grandpa missed you. You know? And it's like, well. Grandpa says Jesus maybe isn't everything I think he is. Wait a minute. You sound like that demon I was talking to. Is that ectoplasm? The question was, does childish behavior bring you closer to God? And the answer was childish behavior brings you closer to time out.
But I guess along those lines, think these are questions that maybe some people that follow Christ are afraid to ask because they just have a shallow they have an interest in it, but like, I guess in that same same realm, how do we you know, what was the the biblical thought on psychics or the concept of alien life forms? Daniel? Here here would be my take on well, the psyche's easiest. This is what I just already said. Stay away from them. I mean, it's very specifically I I need to get my bible software on my laptop so I could give you a verse and chapter because I just don't remember anything I can look up. Like Sylvia Browne? Exactly. So like, again, I think the thought of this is is that it's not necessarily like, things that people say they hear, see, feel, whatever, could really be true. Oh, yeah. But but I mean Just not what Oprah tells you it is. Right. They're but I mean, they're the source of which is demonic. Or ghost hunters, you know. Yeah. It's like, yeah. Whatever. Exactly. Yeah. I'm not I don't doubt those things happen and that they see it or feel it or experience it. It's probably
not, you know It's just not good. Well, how do you know how do you know that they don't have messages from God? Demons? Well, like, the the psychics, the things that people see, they think they see, that kind of thing. They they are are not following God's pattern. I I mean, you know, the whole looking into the future, looking to the dead, that type of stuff is is totally completely clearly a violation of scripture.
And so why would you say, I'm gonna go ahead and follow that advice? That'd great. The dead don't answer questions. The Lord answers questions. Exactly, exactly. So if someone is running into something, again, maybe the thing to look at really, is what you think you're seeing, believing, feeling consistent with the character of God, which I guess again points back you know, why it's important to know your Bible so that you can know whether Even an angel of light can be Satan in disguise. Right. So you gotta be real careful. Yeah. He's crafty. Oh, yeah. Now And on the on the alien life form thing, here here's my take on it, not a scientific thing scientific thing, but if all creation is groaning for the return of Christ and all creation includes everything, then why would the people on, you know, Pluto give a rip what's going on here unless we are the center of God's creation? I mean, not necessarily, like, you know, the center, everything revolves around us. But, I mean, he all of his love, all his all of his compassion, his mercy, his death, everything happened here. Right. His created man and everything else he created for our enjoyment.
Right. So it might be, you know, 40,000,000,000 light miles away light years away. If there is life, it wouldn't be an eternal soul type life. It'd be you know, there could be. Maybe there's It could be just a giraffe. It could be yeah. Wearing a hat. But why? Can't see it. Who cares? You know? There's $10 underneath my hat. Good luck. Because I'm a giraffe and you're not. We have a giraffe because yeah. Sometimes I think like removed from Christian thinking, I could I could sort of buy into someone saying, how naive are you that we have an infinitely big universe. Mhmm. So big we don't even know how big it is. Right. And
how naive are you to think we're the only Like it. We're the only creatures around. Like Yeah. You know, you've got so You egotistical of you. Yeah. Yeah. And it's like, you know, maybe maybe even Or how do we know there's not a whole another universe in a whole another area of space? But And then you bring the Christian thinking back into it just like you said and you're like, okay, have There's answers of why that isn't true. And so that's what I think is great about the Bible, I mean among a lot of things, but is that you can look for it for answers because if you don't have that you may be asking that, you know what I mean? You may be saying, well that sounds legitimate or again how naive are we to think this but then you bring the biblical element to it and you can have an explanation for it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, I I actually think that's like the like the ghost stuff especially, I didn't have your camera on the whole time. The whole time you were being a dingus, nobody saw it. I had a I had a red Are you feeling like a failure? I had a red doggy balloon that I was rocking in front of the camera. Was the coolest thing you'd you'd ever seen
and you missed it. Almost like a created being on another planet that we couldn't see. Indeed. That's what I think aliens. The giraffe. I think that the ghosts and stuff things are interesting because I think if you're not confident in your faith, your reaction to say no, none of that exists and
deny things that are actually real, is things that people sometimes will see or experience or feel the need to or you start buying into that but in the wrong stream of mind and it starts to totally pull you away from God. Breaking down the thought that whatever is going on shouldn't be broached through scripture or through Christ or through prayer, I think that's where we get a lot of hang ups with a lot of people that are trying to follow Christ is they're afraid to ask certain questions, they're afraid to think certain things and to inquire as if saying, Hey man, are ghosts real? And Jesus is like gonna shake his finger at you and say, You don't question Yeah, like because you don't obviously know anything because you wouldn't ask that question. Yeah, that's exactly the arena in which it should be approached. Like there's no other arena to approach it. If you're gonna approach it, I mean, you should approach it based on what you believe to be God's inspired word to you.
What's the thought that God would say, Look, I'm gonna put together I'm gonna inspire people to put words together for you to be able to, as a guide for your life so that my character is revealed to you, oh and by the way, I don't care to give you direction in life. It's completely inconsistent, right? Obviously God wants you to go to him for direction and there shouldn't be a topic that you're not willing to broach with God because at the minute that you start hiding that stuff, it doesn't feel like that, but you're hiding it from God. You're saying, Oh, I'm afraid that my faith will be shaken if I don't get the answer you want. Well, if your faith is in an all knowing, all powerful God, what can shake it? What like you're assuming the answer is gonna come back countered to what the truth of God is. Yeah, like God's gonna go, yeah, ghosts are real. Let grandpa Doug out every once in while. Well, goes back to that black and white discussion we had, you know, month or whatever ago. People in the chat were involved, you know, and and we were talking about like, the bible isn't always black and white that clear. Right. Yes it's all there to guide you. I mean it is full in and of itself but you have to interpret a lot of it. Mhmm. So it's not You don't literally flip to the page that says ghosts.
You know and like it's not gonna say that. Gotta what it says and that's why you know you talk to pastors who devote their life to knowing these things and and you know you obviously try and learn it yourself but you know you take a lot out of it. And then even aside from that, if you still can't find the answer you just take it to God. Like you said Ben, you may not It's not all just just clear or just black and white like that. You're gonna have a lot of questions that aren't exactly just in in the the Bible directly or, you know, and just take it to God. Ask. I mean Absolutely. Yeah. I got a good question for you. So I had I had a real weird experience today. And it's not like weird, ghost like crazy experience, but it just it was just odd. I sat down to read to my, you know, two month old daughter, and I've just picked up the Bible, we were just reading, you know, some parts out of Matthew, whatever. She pay no attention at all. You know? I thought she would like my smooth baritone, so I just thought I'd read her some stuff. So, anyway, I'm reading I'm reading, you know, the first, whatever, seven, eight chapters in Matthew. Yeah. Chapter one's pretty pretty hot with all those names. Yeah. In birth, other mugi, birth to Yeah. I and what I ran across
from was, like, I I I read it and, yeah, you know, I've read most of this stuff before, you know, some parables and whatever. And then Jesus there there's two two verses in that in that part of Matthew that I have read Matthew a lot. You know? Like, I was I don't read my Bible, obviously, as much as I should, but when I do, I always read the New Testament, and I always start right in the beginning. Here's what's gonna happen. And so I always get to Matthew. It always happens. Jesus said to the Pharisees twice, the same verse, repeated verbatim, he said it twice. He said, I seek compassion or I desire compassion, not sacrifice.
And he said it twice and it was really weird because I've read that book a 100 times and I don't ever remember reading that verse. What version? The NIV. Is compassion or was it obedience? Well, it was it said, I desire compassion, not sacrifice. I'll look it up. I think the weird part was is that I I never remember reading that verse before And and the fact that Jesus repeated himself to say exactly the same thing twice, this is outrageous. I don't even know what this Like,
it seems to me like an ambiguous statement. And then I thought, this should mean way more to me, the fact that the Lord has said it two times within the last Mhmm. You know, five books, you know. Yeah. Two different groups of people or the same people It or was Pharisees It was talking to the Pharisees in both occasions. Well, I'll find it. Well, that's what's interesting is that like it's not like a book that you just you know you read and you're like, oh, good stuff, know and then you put on the shelf and I mean you Yeah. Every every month, every year you know you you you go through it and you you find new things and now you're a parent or now you're a whatever you know and you find Season of life. And yeah. Know one one verse, yeah, a different season and you know one verse can mean so so different to you later on depending on what context you're looking at. I mean you always need that guidance you know. Alright. So here we go. I'll I'll give you a few different versions of this. It's Matthew nine thirteen. King James says, but go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy and not sacrifice for I am not come to call the righteous but sinners for repentance. Mhmm. New International Version, but go and learn what this means, I desire mercy not sacrifice for I have not come to call the righteous but sinners. New American Standard Bible is, but go and learn what this means. I desire compassion and not sacrifice. Yeah. That's what I got. New American Standard. Yeah so it looks like most of them are mercy. The New Living translation is I want you to show mercy not offer sacrifices. My desire is for mercy not offerings.
And that's exactly what the teaching is. I mean it's not through works but through faith and showing compassion to others. And they were famous for not being merciful. You know, they were like looking for people to slip. And you are nowhere near the microphone. They were looking looking for people to fail. Yeah. Yeah. So they were they were pretty famous for What's the sacrifice part? Like, the mercy part, I guess. They're they're probably talking about the the,
you know, the temple sacrifices. Like, the straight up atonement, blood blood for sin. Yeah. If they're walking around, like, did me two goats today, you know, and they're like, want your heart. It's really, really usually what he's getting at when he speaks like that. I mean, that's really cool. You you you did your check off list, did my sacrifice, gave my tithe. Well, that's what and that's what a lot of people, especially if you take it to to today's age, a lot of people don't get is that they're, you know, say, hey, you know, I'm a good person. I did charity work every once in while. Gave this or that or I All those type of things. The fall day is, hey, I'm not Hitler. Right. Obviously, Hitler's in hell. Mean, that's obvious. I'm not even near that. But it's like But you're closer than you think you are. I mean, that that sounds terrible to say that but it's like Yeah. You're closer than you think in God's eyes. I mean Yeah. It's perfection. Mean It's the old thing if if you're dangling from a chain, how many how many links have to break for you to fall?
It's so so yeah. But I wasn't a murderer. Well Well Yeah. But you did broke down the other links. Know? Yeah. Any sin will separate us from God. So Yeah. Yeah. There it is in it's in Matthew twelve seven again. The exact same quote. Do you have the bible in your phone? Yeah. I don't have that. I'm sad. Very impressed. I don't I I I'm sorry to say since I am not a a pastoral representative of the Lord, I do have to keep my bible on me since I don't study it all day like I should. But I don't It was just very weird. It was very weird to me because I you know, it not only revealed to me that maybe I skipped over. You know, I start skimming and I just stop paying attention. But like,
I don't know. It's just so odd that he said something twice within three verses, and it was like I'd never heard it before. I mean, absolutely, this seemed like a new book of the Bible to me. I'd never heard that. And I'm like, this has to mean something. This has to mean something to me for some reason. Yeah. So so what do think he's saying to you? I I I don't know. That well, the whole point was is, I don't I can't I can't explain it. What is it? Is it all clear to everyone else? Don't don't harass that poor homeless vet. Show compassion. Show mercy. Well, it's not like I'm saying, look homeless, man. Look at all my works. Give him another Big Mac. Don't tail him under the bridge and harass him. He's a liar.
He is a dirty money changer and I'm gonna find out where he lives. If it's Glen Oaks, I'm gonna burn his house to the ground. I'm not gonna do that. They catch people pretty quickly at Glen Oaks. Maybe it's a senior partner. Okay. Dan, I think this is gonna out who asked this question, but when we were talking about psychic and things of that nature, do we have a biblical issue with What
about faith healers? Like Benny Hinn? Yeah. I'm not sure whether they're talking about Benny Hinn or people that like Or like energy healers. Like people that Pow. They're not claiming to heal. They're like saying your body can heal itself and like acupuncture uses energy points and that kind of thing. I think they're trying to figure out whether belief in that that line of holistic
health thinking is counter to. I don't know. Some of that stuff kind of crosses line in the Middle Eastern religions Yeah. Stuff. But I honestly can't tell you where that line is and where it's not. Mean, because the body does heal itself, and the god created us in in such a way that I think there's a lot of things we don't access because we're in this, you know, age of medication. Yeah. And, you know, if I just take a pill, that's all I need, you know? And maybe God had something else in mind, you know? So I don't know if I have an intelligent answer for that. I think that's fair. I think that's fair. Like, to the extent that your I think maybe, you know, this is just me obviously, but the, maybe the line is to the extent that you start putting your faith in something other than God for the healing, like that's where you start to run afoul. But if you're, you know, if you believe in a body that can heal itself because God created that way and the power that God has put to do it Well, when do you cross that line and say, the Lord wants energy, to do
you cross a line as opposed to the energy God's given you. I mean, so I say that the body should heal myself. I have pancreatic cancer. Why is it heal me or take me now, Jesus? Is that the is that it? I think you're you've kinda jumped to a different ship. You're What do you mean? You're on a different ship. How how Our ship sailed. How wait. Me the difference. You paddled out to a large You say you say that that that a a body that heals itself and as soon as you start looking outside of the body that the Lord provided you Well, I think you're talking like if you have allergies, you can do one thing or you can take Claritin or something or maybe something more than that. Things
like acupuncture I think are the interesting part, right? Like where you say there's certain pressure points in your body and you stick the pins and that's not your Western modern medicine. It's not ungodly really, but you're saying that within the body there are energy points, of which you put these in and your body will react in a certain way and you're not really putting your faith in something else. It's just the belief that there's points in the body. I mean, Bible is not, doesn't pull them a medical book and say there are not points here. And I think the question is, it's one of those things where like there are some things that are tied to some of that Middle Eastern medicine or medicine that's not of a Christian nation. And I think people are wary of that line, but otherwise that type of healthcare does make sense for people. And I think that's where the concern is. Mean it just tends to a lot of that stuff tends
to go into some pretty wacky stuff and if you instantly categorize it, that's where maybe some people like, oh you're one of those or something. My mom used to read books on reflexology all the time and she, oh, these little things you push your toes, you know, you do all this stuff. Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah. And it was a little clever. I mean, always kinda some of the stuff I read from it was like, okay, that's kinda weird. You know? But I don't know if it worked or not. Don't honestly That's the question. Just because it seems quacky as a healthcare issue, it doesn't make it ungodly, right? Yeah. It doesn't separate
you from God. Okay, if you're going What if you're one of those people that walk around every day going, I just gotta get to the chiropractor again and you're living your whole life talking about how you need an adjustment. It's Well, like yeah. And and that's where like like it's not like outright not biblical but you're you're starting to like you become obsessive on something where it's like maybe I don't know. I don't know. You know I mean? Uh-huh. I don't know the answer to that either but I mean it's like maybe you should trust God a little more and I don't know. Been talking about it so much. I don't know. That seems a little shifty though to the extent like I mean your body can have legitimate physical problems and your faith in God is not necessarily going to do anything about that. No. True. But I mean like some people are, you know, take a little too far where that's always what I'm afraid about even going to the chiropractor is like then you, I'm afraid to become one of those persons who, and we all probably know somebody who's like that, is like all they live for is like that they have to, you know it's like there was a day when you didn't get adjusted and you probably were okay. Yeah. And then some people have problems but it's like there's some people out there that are really ridiculous about it and they're like they can't live a day without being adjusted and they complain all week about it and you're just like, I don't know. There's some And you're right because it is a gray area but there's something about it to me that doesn't seem Christian about that. Mhmm. And I I can't even And and I can't even tell you why I think that I guess but like there's just something about it that that makes me feel like you're putting too much emphasis in that. Yeah. And I'm not saying that you should just trust God that he'll heal you. So I don't even really know. It's a great year to me. It's as fun as you like. But it's like Yeah. But there's just something about that that makes me feel like maybe you shouldn't act like it. Well,
maybe the the maybe the bigger point is is that maybe it's a a if it becomes a stumbling block for what the Lord has you doing, you know, maybe that's that's that is the only concern, you know, like if you can't You can't see through If you can't talk to anybody about Jesus today because you weren't adjusted or, you know, you you haven't had you haven't had a a colon cleansing in three days Well, could even and, you know, you could barely function. Right. Right. You know, if it's standing in your way of of you know talking about Jesus to anybody for any it's it's standing in your way to doing anything, you know. Yeah. And I don't think somebody would stand there and actually admit that yes, I have purposely not talked about Jesus today because of that but it it it translates, know what I mean? It it ekes through and it affects other parts of your life. Just like you know you shouldn't as a Christian I mean you should not be a complainer and and Right. You know it may not I don't know if it says that directly or not but it's kind of a Do it without complaint. Principle, right? Yeah. Mean, so
And if you're walking around complaining, you know, you can be a great Christian but if you're complaining all day long because of this, you're not probably gonna be serving well. Well Or you know what I mean? Yeah. And I think the I think the perspective on the chat is actually a pretty good one. They said, if you take the same example, the same could be said about watching a TV show every week, running every day, like whatever it is that you're addicted to that is keeping you away from God, really the issue. Addictive behavior in any facet of your life Sure. That is not And that goes back to why we've been hesitant on getting TV because I'm like I just feel like I know we'll waste a lot of time with that we just don't need to do it. Know I mean? There's sometimes where we're like, man, wish we could just turn a TV show on or we were in a lot of movies sometimes. But I just feel like I'm keeping that out. I mean there's the money part of it but I'm also keeping it out for a reason because it's like we There's other things we can do with our time and if I'm worried about that that might be sort of addictive behavior to waste time, I'd rather just not be tempted and not not have it, you know. Sure.
Yeah. Gross. Whose dog is it colon cleansing? That's disgusting. Yeah. Whose dog? What? I'm not even sure what a colon cleansing is. They they run yeah. They run stuff through it. That's enema. Cleans it out. Is that same? That's different. When when you take stuff internally and just things just kinda When you put some fiber in and let it sand scrub its way down. Like this. There?
Don't get them back out. My bum is clean. That's all I know. I don't need any other added products. I'll keep the flow going. What about that that ear inner earwax cleansing thing like I've heard The tea kettle? A friend a friend of mine Fire. A friend Yeah. Yeah. The fire. Yeah. And the friend of mine, his dad's a doctor and they say they do it once a year. Don't know how often they're like, oh you've never known life until you've you know done this. You're intrigued. Know like Yeah. That's Woman's gun. It sounds crazy too. Alright. Not crazy but I mean it sounds like wow. I mean from what they say like sticking comes out out or whatever and like
there. It's gross. Woah. Hey, man. Let's do one. Do one live in the air? Let's let's I need this. Dangerous. Have you also heard about that Pants, do you have an earwax candle at your place? We're totally Skyping you into earwax candle yourself. Yes. Please please respond to me directly. Can you do it with a match? You tilt and and and when it comes pouring out, like it's like a fountain of earwax coming out your head. Now see, would say the lord put that wax there to keep dirtiness out. And you're giving it free rein. You're opening up the bug channel. I'm keeping mites and and and and dust bugs. They need a home. They don't they don't wanna limit them there. The earwax is the goo that keeps them out. Did you know that that that a spider can actually get inside your some somebody died or or had a I don't know whatever, but they had an actual spider in their brain nesting or whatever. Oh. That's yeah. It's crazy. Yeah. I ate some bugs for dinner. Now that we're on That's probably not the same, but You're stupid. They might crawl up there, I guess. What is that? Is it out there? It's a hey, man. Olsen says it's on the quackwatch.org.
That's funny. What's quack watch? Let's see. Yeah. Hold on. I'm gonna take a look at it. Should we know what that is? Hey, man. Like like quack medical stuff. I think Olsen's saying, why ear candling is not a good idea. You'll burn your brains. Your guide to quackery health fraud and intelligent decisions. Holy buckets. Forget that, Pants. This doesn't look good. Olsen, you're gonna have to talk to my wife about this. Cure mini disease, AIDS, sinusitis. Pants, I think we better try it just to see whether it's still good or not. Can you? Yeah. He Maybe we'll have to try a colon cleanse on him. Pats, we're gonna get you We're not Skyping at.
We'll do we're gonna do audio only. Get one of those little chairs with the thing on it. Where's that? He can't get well, he gets to where he needs to get fast enough What happens to for that sort of thing. Seriously. Like I talked to him and I know he can hear me. I I can see there but he doesn't respond for like twenty minutes. He's thinking. You got him on? No. Oh. No. Oh, you mean on the chat? Yeah. Yeah. I don't know what happens to him. Anyway, yeah, we harvested some lettuce or spinach and some stuff from from our garden and I just thought I'd eat it straight, you know, because that's how that's how it grows. That's how I rule. So I would just take it out and I put some ranch and I ate it and there was there was some bugs on it. You didn't run underneath some water or nothing? No. The woman did that for her and the babies. I thought I was gonna go au naturale and then I'd already committed to it. I'd already said I'm gonna eat it straight. I don't use that one when had bugs. I mean it's going down with my digestive juices. I mean it's not like it's gonna survive more than three or years. I swallowed a fish before. Is that what you do? You look at the bun go, good luck. Yeah. You're not gonna do it. That's ridiculous. You done like the goldfish thing? Yeah yeah. Did it for a project in high school. Like my my topic was the We had a certain like time period in history and mine was like that vaudeville
time. So I I did my presentation then I unveiled a fish in a bowl and swallowed I got a nick. You better believe it. People people are suckers for tricks. I did a I was in a world religions class when I was in high school and I did my last project on the Book of Revelation. And so I went through and I did this whole big deal and I brought like a candle with me and I lit the candle. And then right at the very end, as I was reading kind of like the tribulation part of the Book of Revelations, I had laced my hand with some hand sanitizer, which is which will burn. Right? But if I laced my hand over the over the candle and then my hand was on fire. I held I held my hand out on fire for about six seconds and then I waved it out before. Because if it burns through the hand sanitizer, then your hands don't. Yeah. Right? But if you really lather it on there, I mean it'll burn that sanitizer for a while so I had them and my hands were on fire. Both hands? No I just did the one because I thought if I was in a real pinch I don't want both my hands on fire. Because then I couldn't reach out. Can't clap them together. Can you throw fireballs if you have enough of it? I suppose you could. Well, it probably go out when you threw it. Right? Yeah. Probably. I don't know. So what was it? Till they till they really liked that then? Oh, yeah. Got an a. Yeah. Yeah. That sounds pretty cool. I'm gonna try that at work. Yeah. I don't think that'd go well. Is there hand sanitizer in here? I'm gonna try that at work. Let's talk about derivatives.
Yeah. It's phone based, so you can't see what I'm doing, but it's a good effect. I've slit my hand on are you doing it, Mike? What? Are you using it? No. He's just using it. We just you can get it He feels kinda dirty. Sanitizing my hands. He cleanses his colon earlier. I don't have any points to bring home. Give me something to bring home, and I'll light my hands on fire. Yeah. Yeah. I always thought it'd be kinda cool to be a ghost writer. That movie was terrible. I'm not saying it was a good movie, but when I was a kid and I had the comic books It's terrible. I just thought that'd be kinda cool. Have a motorcycle and be a I've only walked out on two movies in my life. You walk was that bad? Yes. It was I didn't think was that bad. I did. Were you were you a Ghost Rider fan though? Oh, no. Yeah. So that's probably you were like, what? Yeah. Just I mean, if you're a ghost rider It's terrible acting. Mean Somebody's Are you doing it? Does it catch on fire? He throws the camera if you're Oh, he's he's trying. It just gets hot and burns me. He was trying it. We worked on some more and do it again. I just had a pool of it. It burned my head. Put some in your ear. Dude, You gotta put more, I guess. Dude, what was Come
on. It burns, man. Machines look clean. You're not working? How big of a how is that a big enough pole? What do need your hands for? Look at it. No. No. You need some more than that. I think we're running out, though. No. Mean Is that enough? I guess if anybody from the radio station is listening, you're running out of hands. Might need to replace. Is that enough there? Yeah. That should do it. You rub it in? Rub it in or just let us Leave it in a pile. Wait, show the is the camera safe? It gets hot and burns me. How did you do it, Ben? How did you do it? Maybe I didn't use such cheap hand sanitizer. They had had a little more alcohol in it. This is the personal care. No alcohol. It had it had a ton I got it from I was working at Gotham. What's in here? I dipped my hand in whiskey. Hey, There's no I just lathered up my hand with it. Maybe there's moisturizers and vitamin E. That's the problem. That didn't look like a a lather. That looked like a Well, but I I I thought the pool would be safer. It just it heated the entire thing and then super concentrated on my hand. There's marks on it. I look like I subscribed to some type of paganism. There's no. No. You're you're looking like Jesus. I got what what's that what's that called? The the what's the circle in your yard? What do you have? Stigmata.
It's not stigmata. Bring worm. You're trying to sell your house and you buried a satan sip upside down in front of it. My wife tried to keep it to do that. No. Did she really? A friend of hers said it worked. And she's like, we're having trouble with the house. I said, we're not bearing saint Joseph. She goes, if it works, it works. If it does I mean, what's the big deal? I said, I am not I am not bearing this. She goes, but he has to be prominently displayed in your house at your new house after you sell the house. I said, Saint Joseph is not being displayed in my house. I said, I'm not gonna have it. Is that the guy with the warts? That's Saint John's. That's the guy without the warts. Yeah. It's I bet I think it's spelled w o r t. Like, it's not Saint John's wart. Seriously, it burns me. I mean, there's a mark. Let me see. Let me hold up the camera so everybody can look at it. He's like, he's crying. Quit being a big weenie bag. You light your hand on fire. Here it is. I I have the necessary materials. Come on, ghost rider. Yeah. Moisturizer's nothing. You light it on fire, it burns your skin.
Fact. I'm gonna look I'm gonna look into some better hand sanitizer. No. Then you can try to Kerosene. You're probably right. It has too much good stuff in it, like moisturizer and stuff. There's any there's there's no good. Right? There's no smelly stuff? Probably makes it worse. There's not any information about what's in here. Yeah. It's just generic. Somebody probably put something different in here. They just use the same bottle and refill it with Dawn dish soap or something. Probably. People do that. You know, I tried the personal care line of my People do that. I've read about it in books. Okay. I do it too. Yeah. That's
it. Anyway, Ben and I DJed a wedding, like, last week, was it? Yeah. And it was at the 801 Grand Building. Oh. And so it's like up on the one of the topper upper floors, you know. And so we go rocking in there, and, you know, it's it's almost time for the wedding to start. I'm like, well, you know, I gotta go to the bathroom. And so I go to the bathroom, and there is mouthwash in there. You might go see there's guy in there. And and cologne. No. See, I don't go to them where the dudes in there. I mean, what kind of job is that? He goes to the left, sir. Yeah. Yeah. That's no good. But there was mouthwash in there. And so here's here's what I did, is I took some, you know, blah blah blah. I used it. I'm like, is the coolest thing ever. Know? I go rock it back out. And I just I happened to be standing by a random dude, and I say, hey, man. There's mouthwash in the bathroom. He goes, I don't really like the personal care brand of mouthwash so I don't use it. I was like, how many how many swanky events do you go to where you have a, you know, on the type of mouthwash they have for free in the bathroom. Wait. Hold on. Did you put your mouth on it? No. It's a squirt. It works just like this. It's not like union mouthwash. Yeah. Somebody's taking a rip of it. I You tell you swallow too much of it. I really like mouthwashing. Personal care is the best.
But I don't know. I thought what what an arrogant jerk. You know? Who who looks at free mouthwash and goes I don't like that brown. That's not for me. You don't keep your own mouthwash on you, so you'll take what we provide. Exactly. You know? Until your breath comes off like SIRTS every hour of the day, I think you can have a squirt or two in your breathing room. Ups the think that really ups the ante on a place, though. Think I we need to put that in the Pathway Bathroom. Yeah. I mean, how close is gonna be? I mean, people when you you don't use, a big gulp of mouthwash. It's just a little bit. And that I mean, I think that ups your swankiness by 20%. Was it like a pump like this with the cup dixie cup type things? Dixie cup pump pump, you're in. Probably more than like Dixie. I mean, it was probably like a what was it? It was a Dixie cup? Yeah. Like with little Murphs, Smurfs on it or something? That wasn't cheesy, Dixie. It was like a it had a bow tie and a cane. Wait. That's mischievous. And a monocle. It was the classiest Dixie cup you've ever seen. What's your oh, Pence is his brother's father-in-law that that that wouldn't do it. Pants, I knew you were on the chat. Now he comes He's an arrogant jerk, Pants. I'm sorry to say it. Pants, you gonna do that air candle or ain't you?
What were we trying to get Olsen to do that he never answered for? Give us a free building somewhere? No. What was it? Some kind of Give me a job? Tooth healing. What was it? Yeah. Vanilla. Yeah. No. The clothes. Drink the vanilla. Yeah. Yeah. The the yeah. The vanilla. Olsen, did you ever do that vanilla? You kinda dodged that one. Answer for yourself. That's why we found the medical quack website. Oh, you don't have a candle? Anywhere in the house? Can you use just any candle? No. No. I don't know why there's a special I don't know why anyone would take medical advice you just let me set my hand on fire. And then store it up just so you do it. And then when it burned my hand, here's your reaction. Look.
His hair is on fire. Oh, guess that didn't work. Well, then how come you didn't try that vanilla stuff? Hey. You know what? Compassion, not sacrifice. That's what he desires. Feel sorry for Mike. I'll feel sorry sorry for for hand for the good of your radio show, you dirty heave. This is exactly what he's talking about. I'm not sacrificing my hand. But I would feel bad if you were burned. But I ain't doing it. You're listening to Life in the Path on devoineamplified.com. Thanks for being with us. Pants,
did you try it? Pants, I'm gonna you call me directly. I wanna see you I wanna see you do it again. Did you light his hand on fire? Do you have some decent hand sanitizer that needs a high alcohol content? Or dip your hand in whiskey. Do you have any high proof alcohol? Do you have a bottle large enough to fit your hand in? No. You can pour it out and put it in a bowl. Think it's You're not gonna waste that much whiskey. Whiskey is expensive. Well, put your hand in and then drink it after. Pour it back in. Pour it back in. Whatever. Since you have to waste it. I mean, wash your hands first. Speaking of burning things off, this is probably a stupid comment, why don't they just, like, burn this oil on this big slick thing? I think that's a good idea. I think that was the plan, and they were they could have done it, but they had to get some sort of authorization. But the whole country would be on fire now. It's like Yeah. Now it's too far from Yeah. But at least you know where it is. It'd be easy to find. Look, there's gotta be some oil in there. I I suppose that's different toxins in itself when you I mean Yeah. Well, it's actually too late now. Now that it's like started to disperse itself, it's not near as effective. If you like right when it started, you would have lit it on fire, then it would just kept burning and it would have obviously slowly gotten larger because it wouldn't be able to burn it off as quickly as it pumped out. But, now that it's kind of like balled up and went around everywhere, it's not as not effective. Nasty. Pants are are you gonna do it? Pants give us a call. I want to see you light your hand on fire
with some high proof alcohol. Does Pants' dad have high quality whiskey there he's gonna use? I don't know. I think Pans might have whiskey. I have whiskey at my house. Really? I don't drink it. I bought it as if I was gonna learn to drink whiskey. Actually I'm not a drinker. I'm not a smoker. I'm not a drinker. I don't have any good habits. Decided Which is really a habit because I only break it out every once in a while. I I even lost it. I don't have it anymore. Well, it's somewhere, but I haven't seen it in a while. So anyway, but I bought this whiskey because I thought in in a in some kind of situation, it feels like it would be appropriate to have a shot of whiskey. So but I don't wanna be the sissy who's like 15, 60 years old who's never had whiskey at all and then I act like a real Donald Duck about it. So so I pick some up. It's pretty nasty stuff. Yeah. It's not good. How about something like twenty five years ago? I probably I would still have it if I hadn't thrown it away. I mean I I used to do we used to do like shots in college on With whiskey? Captain Morgan. Really? Which that's like a spiced rum but I mean it's kind of along the same lines and oh man, I can't I probably can't even do that today. We would I can't even just probably smell it because it ugh. Ben and I played at a bourbon party one time. Yeah. Like they hired us to play and they were like, it was like a bunch of bourbon swillers, know, they'd swirl it, then they'd have a sniff of it and then they'd drink it, know, and they're like, all the bourbon you can drink. I'm like, that's terrible. Am gonna do with that one? Soda, We dirty
went to what was the name of that restaurant we went to in London? London? The Red Onion? Yeah the Red Onion, yeah. This place was awesome. Like I've never seen hospitality like this before. This is fantastic. We went there and the food was great and it was reasonably priced and whatever, after the meal was done, the owner of the restaurant came to the table and he's like, did you enjoy your meal? We said, yeah, whatever. And he's like, would you like some coffee? It's all in the house. I'm like, sure, coffee, that sounds great. Then two minutes later he's like, is the coffee good? We're like, yeah, it's great, thank you. He's like, how about a Danish? It's on the house. That's awesome. It's on the house. We're like, great, know? And then five minutes later he comes back, he goes, you don't go as good with that Danish? I said, no. It's very easy. Warm bourbon. He goes Oh yeah? He goes, you don't need a lot of it, just a little bit. You know what? You need to try it, it's on the house. Wow. And this dude just kept showing up with more and more like free goods and he was just super nice. Yeah. It was the coolest experience. That was in London? Yeah. That's Yeah. I spent a What was the deal there? That's awesome. Yeah. It was great. That's the only time we ran into it. We So the thing is me and my wife, or she wasn't my wife yet, but we went to London for a semester abroad through the local community college. This was a total rook by the way because
they offered this thing to go through the teaching program. I was going to school to be a teacher. She didn't know what she was going to school for, but wanted to be one of the classes with me. She decides that she's going take the same Intro to Education class that I'm in. So we go ahead and we sign up for this deal and we find out that they're going do a scholarship for one person out of this Intro to Teaching class. It gets down to the two finalists, my future wife and I. She's totally, she's a bag. She's in here because I'm in here. She doesn't wanna be a teacher, but she's down to the final thing. So we both go in there and we do interviews. I had written her her, like, resume paper. It was good. She's pretty good with people. I'm not good with people. She gets the scholarship. So she gets the scholarship. So better eyes. Let me make sure you wrote both papers? Yeah.
You were the two finalists for the trip to London. Yeah. Right. So except for so here's how it came out though. If she's going for free, I'm paying $8 because she won't go on her own. She doesn't wanna go by herself, she's gonna be there. So like if I don't go, she's not going and I couldn't just take her spot because that would be totally unfair. She wants to go if I'm going. Right? Yeah, right. So she's going for free, I'm paying 8,000. We go. Okay, so we head out, we're there for a semester and then we decide that what would be really cool is if Mike and his wife could come out. So we looked around and Amanda,
because she was going for free, had room to take some government money for a student loan, right? So we get some money out and we pay for Mike and Jared to fly out. We found a great deal to get them to come to London for a weekend. So they fly out on a weekend. It's a lot of travel time for a weekend. A whole day and then a lifetime and even though it sounds great, you would only wanna do it once to like haul out on a Friday and leave on a Sunday to go to London, stay there and then fly there. Right? We get so Mike and Jared fly out and Mike gets off the Mike gets off the I forgot about it. Or or gets out out of the airport and like his arm is asleep. Like, his right arm is asleep, and he can't I mean, mean, so he's he's hauling it around like this. You can't see it. He's doing That's terrible. So, like, I thought I thought that I thought they'd be hungry. And so we brought, like I brought some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. His backpack. We're not off the plane two minutes. He rocks up. I don't know if you know Ben very well, but he doesn't move at a a quick pace. He's not a gazelle. You know, he kinda he kinda goes places. You know? He goes to London. He's gone for two months. We show up one weekend, and he is, I mean, motoring everywhere he goes. We get off the plane, he is standing, like, at the gate, he's like, hey, you guys hungry? I bet that was a long flight. I baked some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Do you want one? Look, I got little Cokes. Would you like a little Coke? Let's go. We gotta get going. And my arm we've been on an eleven hour flight. My arm is asleep now. It won't work. Yeah. I I get off the plane. I can't smoke properly. Like, I'm having to pick up my own arm and drop it again. This my arm was asleep for twelve hours when I got off this He looked ridiculous. Seriously? I couldn't open a door. Like, I kept doing this and I just swing. That's crazy. It was it I thought I was gonna have to cut it off. Like the princess bride. I thought it was done. It was absolutely terrible.
He was I mean, it was funny for for a good, you know, twelve hour stint or however long it took to wear it off. Like, dude, are you okay? He's eating the sandwich by holding his other arm up. Like, he keeps falling behind understand why you don't use the other hand, though. I can't. You could've smoked with the other hand, eating the sandwich with the other hand. I didn't. I didn't, though. I picked it up, and I told it was good. I am right handed. I'm sticking to it. I've made the decision. Life will not change. Cut it off, I'll be destitute. There's nothing I could do. It was outrageous. It was a good time though. Like you We got to go around You know what I liked about London is they don't do What is that? What was that? Screensaver. It's good. Aliens? Yeah. It's Uncle Bob. I've got a message. Can I continue telling my what I liked about London story? Yeah. Go ahead. Or should I wait? You have any idea? Weird. Anyway, like we went and saw a bunch of historic stuff like old castles and jazz. Yeah. And
like old the old cathedrals, you know, all all kinds of stuff, know. Ben knew all the name of them. He had this big plan, you know, once again, hauling throughout London, you know, a thousand miles an hour. Here's what this is. They used to drag a guy in parliament. He was dead. He still voted. Dude's crazy. And, anyway, we go to all these places, and there's no handicap entrance. There's no handicap ramps. There's no excuse for anything. You know, like like, you know, you come to America and they and they facilitate everything for everybody. Yeah. And London's like, you know, look, the staircases of these castles are a foot wide. If you're too giganto to get up the stairs, you don't go. Too bad? Yeah. I'm sorry, you know, but we can't be putting in handicapped ramps up the side of the Kingdom, you know, it's not gonna happen. No. But they don't have like they did they I don't even pick on handicapped people, but you know, if you can't make it up the stairs, they don't have a service elevator for you. It's just not gonna happen. And it seems kinda like a hard line but maybe it was just a kickback for how far that we've taken it.
Everything has to be accessible to everybody. When someone be, when do you look at someone and say, sorry, that's the brakes? Yeah, that's I didn't go to college from the United Negro College Fund. You know why? Tough brakes. I'm a white fella. I don't get to go that way. So when does that start happening to everybody else? What if they say, look, I'm sorry, that's just the deal. Can't accommodate you. Everybody gets to But there's play a lawsuit in your hands if you say, I can't accommodate you. Yeah. But know, that's the thing. You're always like, I'm perfectly acceptable not taking that scholarship money because I got no business taking it. You know? Exactly. I don't know. It it seems it seems ridiculous. And London was hard lined on it. I feel like those parking spots at, like, the the Walmart and the Hy Vee are the same way. I mean And there's and there's I have to use my own legs to get Yeah. You're You got wheels and stuff. I mean, you go farther back. And there's, like, at Target, there's, like, a ton of them. It's, like, the whole It goes to battle a little overkill on it. It's it's, like Well, as long as they relaxed how you get them. I mean Oh. You could have like a I don't know what the requirements are, but Yeah. Weak like stuff. Yeah. Yeah. You got one. Maybe you see those people that that roll up in the handicap sticker and then they get out and saunter in? You're like Yeah. First of all, got something like ingrown toenails. They've got some like yeah.
They've got some like car that you're thinking either it's like a sports car or some big old SUV homer and you're like, hold on. I don't believe that you're, you know, handicapped right there. It's your motorcycle with your little handicap. Yeah. Think. There's a bunch of weird noises coming to it. Yeah. I think we're getting some action on the Skype. Hold on a minute. Who'd this be? Fire department. It's probably who you can't purchase. Jared. Who? Jared.
Who? Jared, you're live on the radio. Oh, hey, guys. How's going? Hey. What's up? Did you just did I wake you up? No. Not at all. Okay. Good. Are you just dropped my wife. Was in here to go to bed. Are you still in Delaware? Yes. I am. Sweet. That means it's 12:20 his time. What are you doing? Go to bed. He was sleeping. He doesn't wanna say. I'm still on central time. I just can't get out of it. Are you there with like, so is is it just you and your and and all your children? Yep. You're a maniac. He's got he's towing three kids across the country. Would've left at least one of them Yeah. That's impressive.
They're good kids. The airport was my only big concern, but they were actually really good in there. What's the plan? Like like, do you buddy system? One gets to buddy with you and then the other one has to buddy with each other, or do you do like a Von Trapp family row through the airport? Actually, have all the kids are in the same color, bright green tennis ball green shirts. And, you know, give Jonas the Mohawk and hopefully make them as stand out as possible. And then, you know, hopefully, I can keep track of them even if they do happen to wander a step or two away. Well, what happens if Would you go would you go for a leash for your children? We've had this discussion. You know, I've I've We've done that when they were really little like, you know, going to like, not Disney World, like a Sword Art City or something like that because you know how I love Branson. And so but we've been down there. Know, and people look at you like you're some kind of a torturous villain but I that I that's yeah.
It'd Question be different for you guys though. Okay. Alright. Here's here's the dilemma. Okay. Pretend that you've got, you know, little girls that are say, I don't know, six and eight, something like that. Okay. And and you're in an airport all by yourself with three kids. Okay? Mhmm. There's there's no family bathroom to be found and your kids have to go to the bathroom. What do you do? We're under the assumption that six and eight is agreed to be a little old to be daddy in tow into the male restroom. Or saying that a six and eight is a little too young to be standing outside the bathroom alone in an airport. Agreed. Yeah.
I'd take them in the men's room. Yeah I think so. Would you? Would you take You can't take them in the stall though. Like, you leave them You in the can't go in the living Yeah. Room with can stand outside their stall. Yeah. Mean Yeah. But are you saying that you had to use the bathroom or they had to use the bathroom? Well, they had to. What do you do if you have to do Yeah. That's good question. Yeah. That'd be worse if you had to because if they have to, they can kinda watch each other and you stand guard out. You know? They can scream if something's happened and you can run-in there. But you don't really wanna stuff them in the stall with you waiting for them to do. Yeah. Well, they're not that big.
Well, it depends on the airport. How many people do you let in your bathroom stall? No. No. I'm not talking about the stall. I'm gonna talk the bathroom myself. There's a lot of people coming and going. It'd be freaky sitting here. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Of course, eight. Eight's getting up there. Yeah. Boy, how's your daughter there? Everybody's voting for the handys in here the handystoll. The handystoll. In there with that. Load them up in the handystoll. What'd you do, Jared? Yeah. The janitor's closet. I I went in I mean, I I didn't feel like I had a choice. I mean, the kids are either a pewter pants out there or I you know, we have a kid out in the hallway, you know, the cost to get stolen. So I took him on to the men's bathroom and I get this look from this this older gentleman in a suit And he was like, you know this is a men's bathroom here. I was like, look, what do you expect me to do? Leave my kid outside? Did you hit him? Or what what what do you want me to do? Was was he like actually giving you the roast? Why would he care? He gave me the roast. Mean, he was washing his hands and he was standing there with his suitcase and he looked at me and he just he gave me the whole I mean, he was just like shaking his head and you know What a cool snick. Why don't you take him into the Sky Lounge? You're big bucks. Jared, do you have big bucks? Exactly.
Wait. Scan your card. Get in there. And I did not know that. Jared, we're trying to open a million dollar mall, and we're gonna need some funding. Okay. I'm gonna take that as yes. Put Jared down as a donor. Look at the end up being on our flight. He ended up flying on our flight, and the kids were, like, totally, like, giving in the stink eye the entire time. Oh, that's awesome. Yeah. Is it? Is it really awesome? Can I vote for that? Compassion, not sacrifice. Man, that means something to me. He's not sure where to put it. Is it wrong to send your children out to stink eye people on your behalf? No. Like
It refusing your resources. Yeah. Yeah. You created that child. I mean Hey, Jared. Let me ask you a question. Do you find it inappropriate if I tailed a homeless man to see if he was truly homeless? Boy, I don't know. It's because I haven't heard the rest of the conversation. Just to see That was it. I don't know. Jared's a smart man. Okay. Didn't that he's been very recovered. Yeah. What was the answer? Know, I don't I don't I don't necessarily think so. I mean, if it's if it's already quite if it's questionable. You know, if you see the person down there and, you know, you happen to see them across town at the video arcade later on. What year are we in here? Now here's what I'm the the situation is not like I see him panhandling
during the day and then I ran into him with the big steer later, you know. Like, I have no reason to believe that he's false. But on the other hand, you know, if he's out there every day, he's going somewhere at night. You know? I I mean, he's he's got to be going somewhere. Obviously, he's homeless. He said he is. Yeah. I I don't buy that. See? I think that's false advertising. I I I mean, it's a little creepy. You gotta give that. But Is it tacky to go up to a homeless guy and ask for his tithe? I think that's absolutely warranted. We we have offering plates. We could we don't use them anymore. We could I don't need anybody else. Claire and Dan said it's a good idea. We're gonna do it. Our new church homeless team Yeah. On the streets. All over town. They think that we're dropping off food from the cantina, and really we're trying to collect money. I'm pretty sure people are already doing that somewhere. We're we're the reverse mission. What did you moment you take in today? Let me count it. Yeah. I I you owe me, it looks to be, $2.50
and at least three cans of those green beans. Yes. Here's a question for you. Do the do the Mormon do the Mormons do they target homeless folks as well? You don't have door to knock on. It kinda takes them off their game. You think it could fuse them to the point where they just go into midair and go to first. Well, I don't know what to do here. Yeah. Probably. And probably they probably seem too intimidating coming arc style after them. They always gotta double double them up. They always got two by two. You think they're like, do you think the Mormons go in seedy neighborhoods? Like, places where we lived in the South Side was kinda where I lived was kinda seedy. Oh, it wasn't that seedy. Yeah. Where'd you live? There was a guy with a beer that stood outside the my house and he's going, chicken chicken chicken chicken chicken. Yeah. Let's see. Keith That's not true at all. That was most likely Ben wearing a beard going, chicken chicken chicken chicken Okay. Keith, he didn't live outside my house. That's outrageous.
Oh. You guys need to have a a Mormon come to your show sometime. Yeah. We really should, actually. I'd be interested to talk to them. They're so serious. They are kinda rough to get along with. Dude, you can wear you can wear that tie again. Yeah. Can wear that tie. That's I'm interested in joining your organization. What do I have to believe? Several weeks ago, we had we had one come come to our door and I was just getting home from work. Nice. My wife was at the front door and, you know, two guys staying there whatever and so I'm like, oh, hey, you know, you can tell what's going on from the very beginning. But, yeah, it was it was it was awkward though because you know I I didn't feel like I was prepared enough to to really know what how to handle it. So I kinda just was like, okay, you know, and and you know let them kinda go for a little bit and then and then I You know, they And they're and they're pretty good though at what they do. Yeah. You know what I mean? I mean, they're They're trained well. Yeah. They're they're good. Exactly. They're trained well and and then they were like, well, maybe we could stop by and and, you know, talk again with you or something. And we're like, no. You know, I appreciate everything but you know we we know what we believe. And then even like still, you know, they they know what to say then and but Yeah. So you really gotta like I was trying not to be rude and just shut the door on them but you kinda wanted to. So I don't know. It was I never really experienced one before exactly, I, you know, was trying to be nice, I guess. Yeah. Yeah. We used have a cult class at at Bible College and we had a professor who was he was great with people like that. He'd invite them in his house. He'd walk down the street and grab them off the street and say, Hey, come on in, let's talk. And he would actually bring them in. He would invite them into our cult class and have them sit in front of the entire class and, you know, tell their spiel. I mean, that's that's one great group of people if they'll walk into a class that's named cult class. Yeah. Really? They, hey. Yeah. I'll tell you about the entire year. That'd
like I'm running a class called this guy's a nerd. And then say, hey, You wanna be a guest speaker at my this guy's a nerd class. Of course, they're thinking we're all a cult. Yeah. That's true. Yeah. They're thinking, awesome. I get up to I mean, there's some things to be learned from those guys. They're they're flagrantly Mormon. You know what I'm saying? They don't hide it for nothing. They're bald. They don't walk up to anybody. They're old, man. I mean. I mean, they're completely real flamers. They have it all backwards, but I mean, still. Yeah. There's things to to to know. I agree. Well, for sure, you can't argue with your fervor. Did you say fervor? I did say fervor. That's unfortunate for you. Dude, would you like to be a guest speaker at my This Guy's a Dork class? Yes, I would actually. I am available.
I had a actually, was three days ago I had a fervor and I put a Genus Genetics. Is that still right? Did I say it right Dan? I have no idea what you're saying. What is that word you used at the front of the show? Oh exegetical? Had a fervor. Had a fervor and I had took some exegetical. I was under the impression my body would heal itself. Exogenic. So I lay nude in my rocks. He healer me, Jesus. I'm nude just like you created me. Well, it's not working. Shall return. Or closest available to the video store. Either give me a new liver or come to Earth, whichever. I'll take whatever you got. Alright. Jared, well, I appreciate you answered the phone. I I I thought it was hit or miss whether you'd be able to pick it up at this hour in in Delaware, but thanks for picking up and being on the show. There you go. Well, thanks for calling, guys. Have good night. Alright. You too. Good to see you, Jared. Bye bye.
That's it. We're making some way on this Skype business. That's right. I like it. It's just some weird noise. It's be a great time to make some prank calls. Yeah. There's money on this deal. Like, you can it's free if it's Skype to Skype. Like, you call me, they got a Skype. Make a phone call. You can make a regular phone call. Yeah. Yeah. Isn't that what we just did? No. Jared's on the Skype. Oh, really? On the video? Video was on and everything? No. No video. Why don't we see Is he on the show? Is he watching the show? Or is that how we knew? Or what's still? Yeah. He was he sent me he could chat you can chat through the Skype and I think the show is not coming in very well for him, but I could tell that he's still on Skype. So we knew he was he was around. Yeah. He wasn't literally waking him up. No. I could see him. Yeah. Yeah. No. I just didn't call him out of the blue but there like a Is there like a Skype phone book? Yeah. You can look people up. Yeah. Is there any celebrities we can Skype right now? There's always like 1,600,000 people Who online or who would you like to call? Let me take it. John Bon Jovi? Yul Brynner. Yul okay. Yul Brynner's dead. He's not gonna He won't pick up? Hold on. He's with grandpa Bob right now. Not John Bon Jovi. Hold on. Nope. No John Goodman. No John Bon Jovi. See if John Goodman is available. Like from Roseanne? Yeah. Who else who who how do John Goodman do you know? We don't want his on Facebook. No John Goodman.
I wanna find him. Who else do we want? Clint Howard? What if it's not the Clint Howard, just a Clint Howard? Yeah. True. Hey. He shouldn't use that handle. You need to do that you need to do those Facebook comparisons. We still haven't done. Yeah. That's true. Oh, yeah. Haven't seen mine. I don't I I'm not saying that I don't have a Facebook account in here. They're highly anticipated. I can log in. We'll do it. We'll do it for next week. I'll put it on the I'll I'll put it down. We'll make sure we do it next week. Alright. Oh, I'm writing it down. Go about your business. Did you find a celebrity that we could who else can we Skype? Tom Hanks. How about Sylvester Stallone. He ain't got nothing going. Gilbert Godfrey. He'd be he'd be fun to talk to. He's always irate about something. Is. Even when he's not irate. What's going on over there? I brought it.
Apparently. Yeah. Is it good? It's solid. Where you at, Joel Hold on. There you go. There. I got it. Tell me what you think. Are you in cahoots with Joel Collin about that? He said wigs, question mark, and I like to pay it off. Man, I had one coming. I didn't wear mine. I didn't anyone else was gonna do it. I can't hear him this wig. It's not very loud. You ever seen Austin Powers? Go back to business. Oh. Fat bastard. Actually, I look pretty good. Got a pretty goodness. Huge fat man. Yeah. Yeah. Hey. Hey, buddy. Can you Skype him? Hey, brother. Who? The fat bastard. See on the Skype. I'm not gonna do it. Well, okay. Hold on. If
there's someone under that handle, I will certainly talk Yeah. To Sounds like a maybe. Dude, you lied to me. There's no one on Skype. Is Oprah Skype able? Oh. Oh, it just called him. What? Oops. Let it go. Yeah. Let it Hello, fat. Or mister Bat. Is fat your first name? Hold on. Here it goes. He's Brienne and Silver Blades is the name. It says it's connecting.
Is he in Australia? It doesn't say. Who? His status is unknown. Is No. He's not online. Oh, we lost him. Oh, it's too bad. Bummer. Can't you see if he's online or not? You can contact us via email. You can visit the the merchandise corner. Good clock. Yeah. Get a I'd stay away from the clock. The mug seems reasonable to me. The mug's, like, $13. We should have a clock for in here. That'd be Yep. There it is. What verse is it? There's two. Deuteronomy twenty three two and Zechariah nine six. Who's your daddy? Hold on. Zechariah seems to be interesting. And a bastard shall dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines. That don't sound good for him. That does not sound good. The Lord's upset. Hold on. Let's see what else is gonna happen. I'm getting that put on a shirt. There's no doubt about it. Next football game, you're gonna be holding us. Zechariah, whatever. Whatever's in the that one. Yeah. The reference Deuteronomy quotes,
a bastard shall not enter the congregation of the Lord. Even to his tenth generation shall he not enter the congregation of the Lord. Oh, that's pretty bad. Thought that one even better. Yeah. Tenth generation. Neither an Amorite or a Moabite. We need a card check. That's like Yeah. No. Wait a minute. Eight hundred years. No. That's a long time. I don't know. That seems fairly restrictive, Dan. I mean, a guy can't help that he was a bastard. In the Jewish time, it was huge to keep the race pure because that was where the Messiah was coming from. They couldn't intermarry. They couldn't there's a lot things they couldn't do. We still frown on intermarrying. Deuteronomy 20 three:one says, He that is stones or hath his privy member cut off shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord. Does it say stones? It does. He that is wounded in the stones. Wow. That verifies how I've been speaking about that. Does that mean that you've It certainly has to mean you've been stoned because you've done something. No, I think man's stoned.
Leviticus 17 is filled with all kinds of exciting stuff. Or has his privy member cut off. Privy member. Privy member with stones sounds like to be what you think it means. In fact, it is. Anyway, he he ain't coming in. We don't we don't have those people. Wonder what cost did you think? What did you say? Where am I looking at? So what's Leviticus? What's stoned? Yeah. Yeah. Got stoned? This is for you, Bill Conn. Coming out to you. Talking about the digital world on the Robert Palmer? Yeah. Have you seen this music video? It's terrible. I'm certain you have not. Have you seen it? Why would you look at me and say that? I don't think so. I am hip. You don't know hip, brother. Hey, man. You here's the crap part. Is that have you heard the song, what is hip?
What is Hip? Ben? Oh yeah, yeah definitely. Okay. Never heard it. You with me? Okay. So it's a hip tune. Like there's horns, there's funk bass action. I mean it's a hip song. Me So and the daughter checked it out on YouTube the other day, and it is most certainly is this it? Yeah. Yeah. So we check out the live version of Tower of Power doing what is hip, and it is, like, five dudes who look like Tom Selleck playing the horn section. Like, I mean, like like a a version of Tom Selleck and Weird Al Yankovic. Like, they all have perm hair, and they have the crazy flowery shirts like Magnum PI, and they're they're go like, they're they're doing
huge horn lines. You're left, right, and and they're doing they're doing health. I mean, just ridiculous operations. Like, it was not hip at all. Like, the guy in front was hip. He was, like, pointing and telling people what to do. Yeah. And then there's a bunch of point extras in the back trying to back up the hipness. I was very disappointed. I was hoping Tower Power was predominantly hip people, obviously. Did you guys see that guy did you see the commercial for the post office where the the guy delivers the the scary doll that moves around the house Oh. And freaks out the couple? No. No. Oh, anyway. What? He's also he's getting more work. The guy that played the dad in that, I saw it was in another commercial, and I was kind of impressed with Why would the post office have a commercial? To get people to ship. If it fits, it ships, Dan. Oh, yeah. Oh, those little box things. That's right. I'm like Oh, by the way, don't forget to mail a letter to Grandma. I'm sure people are forgetting the post office. Did you see the staircase? I need to get something between here and the other side of the country. How will I do it? Yeah. What? Rabid donkey? Is that still available?
What is that number for that donkey? Type in the donkey. See if donkey's on the I'm type in donkey on Skype, see what we got. Did you see the did you see they changed the name of the post office downtown? Oh, yeah. To what did they do it to? Veterans of Iraq slash Afghanistan. Yeah. How do how do you how do see the receptionist there? Yeah. Right. Take a How much is this gonna cost? You know what I'm saying? All new letterhead, all new everything. I mean, I support our troops and whatever, but I mean, honestly Politicians. Who comes back from war and goes, well, at least they named a post office after. That was worth everything. That was worth my left leg. You know what? Save the money. Give them better pension. You know? Give them more benefits when they get back. What who's gonna write the whole thing anyway? Please ship to veterans of Iraq slash Afghanistan war post office downtown Des Moines. Yeah. That's ridiculous. I did a I did a Skype search for Donkey.
We we maxed out. There was there are at least there are a 100 plus people in Skype who have listed their full name as Donkey. Donkey like McDonkey or just No. Like, full name Donkey. Like, my name would show up full name Benfus. Their name shows up Donkey. Like, not even Donkey? No. No. Donkey. And then and then here's here's where the name So we got 08 in New Zealand. 051 in United Kingdom.
062 in China. Donkey in China. Alright. So Great Yarmouth United lunchtime there. 1971. Norwalk, United States. 397. Norwalk, Iowa. Perth, Australia. Oh, don't 557. What what what's the time thing in Australia?
It's twelve hours, isn't it? I'm gonna find out. You don't know. You're just making that up. I'm pretty sure it's exactly twelve hours. Exactly twelve hours. Looks like you're in Australia. I got this covered. Okay. Well, he's not gonna be on at noon or whatever. We'll call it. Well, yeah, how do you know? Maybe he's nerdlinger. He sits on his butt. Kind of guy sits as screaming his donkey? He's probably not the coolest man out there. See if he'll be in my this guy's a bird class. Do you want me to call him? Did you check it yet? We know it's we know it's daytime there. Okay. It's gone. Perth, Australia, full name donkey. No birthday. '2 it's 02:43 in the afternoon. Okay. Let's call him. So you're wrong about twelve then. Oh, Oh, he's not come on. Pretty close. Nobody's online. That's fourteen hours.
Well, it's pretty close. Twelve, ain't it? So I'll show you now. You seem to be okay with ten and twenty, and then you're going after me? You're going twenty four hours in a day. You were like Look who was judgmentalish. Alright. Let's call donkey monkey thirty 5. Donkey monkey. In Greece. Okay. Athens, Greece. You wanna see what that guy's found? Come on, man. What are these people doing? Don't know. Donkey loves cat here in Iowa City. Giant donkey, Canada. Call him. Call giant donkey. But it's kinda middle of the night in Canada, isn't it? It's quarter to eight in the morning. That's not gonna work. Well Canada has
time zones too. There are times. It's like Flowers. Yeah. They're in the same time as The United States just right. So I mean it depends where you're sitting in Canada but I mean it's likely to be the middle of the night. Yeah. Like same time now. Well, right. But it could be It's it's definitely not. Be 09:30 in perfect. If it's like California. Okay. Here's a guy with a full name donkey that goes under the Skype name, the love doctor one in Wyala, Australia. I don't think we wanna talk to him. We don't wanna talk to no love donkey. Did you call him? No. He's he's not answering either. I'm gonna give up on it. Alright. Fair enough. That's too bad. Oh, it says whether it's nighttime or not. That's cool.
World time zone. Quarter to eight in Athens in the morning. Legitimate. Call him up. Was he the big donkey? See how many Mohameds there are. This is not gonna go well. Hey, man. See if that guy who got hit by the car, Lord Jesus Christ, is on the Skype. I'm not gonna you know what? I'm probably gonna be offended by how many people are going under the handle of Jesus True. On the Skype. Well, especially because someone could be Could be legitimately Jesus. Yeah. Yeah. No. They could be legitimate Jesus. Search for Skype. He came back and he got on Skype. I hope he's innovative. Yeah. Topped out. Lots of Jesus. Grandpa Bob doesn't work anymore, so I'm using Skype. Yeah. Madrid. Okay. Spain. These are legitimate Jesus. Let's
there are hold on a minute. There are no Nebuchadnezzars. It was worth a shot. What a what a disappointment. I was expecting that one. There I bought a Methuselah. I think you should grow your hair out like that, Ben. I I do look pretty good at that. I mean I'm It I don't I've never had my hair grow that long. I think I look pretty You do like some kind of Mick Jagger move or something. Okay. Hold on a sec. Let me let me get something. Let me get something to roll up. He's pretty fast on the music. Want Yeah. Me to acapella something?
I could've said it was the jaggers if I had known him face to face if he was my father. This this is good. Good. Mike's lost. I don't know. I don't know how long the length is going. You go. I don't think we funny others might not. After so long, it gets awkward. Where'd you where'd you go, woman? Get back on there. I was gonna do my Keith Richards impression, but I guess it's probably as good. You don't do a Keith Richards? Yeah. Are you ready? Check it out. Hold on. Hold on. Let me get you on here. Hold on. You ready? Yep. Stupid. That's the modern modern. He's he's he's dead.
Keith Bridges is not dead. Yeah. Is in my first edition. It's adaptable. About fifteen years ago. I I also do a Rue McClellan. Oh, she just passed. I know. That's terrible. Yeah. And the first thing I thought was how much Zach was enjoying it. Right. Was she this was she a co star of Maude? Or did she Yeah. She was on Maude as well. Was she the main star? It wasn't. Right? No. She was like the one that was always, you know, getting active with fellas. Yeah. That was Golden Girl. Yeah. Getting active. Did she play the same character in Maude? Probably. Okay. Sorry. Menendez. Getting active. What they called it in Dan's era. Yeah. We call that active.
Mod. Boy, I forgot about Mod. I don't remember. I don't remember as the mod girl. Forgettable. That's why you forgettable. Yeah. Then there's mod. It is mod. Did they have the background going real high there? Oh, you did? Yeah. No. You you did. Hear that part. I think you added in there. That's how it is. I do like wish they had yeah. That's how you sang it. Dan adds his own background vocals to their tune, bud.
He's got his own shout choir at his house. Ma. Ma. You ever see people do that hand waving tambourine thing? I think that's cool. It's not done enough. Like, they lean forward and they do some kind of in place running, and then they have their hands and they're shaking like a tambourine. Nothing? You ever tried PCP? Kinda hits on that. We we need some tambourines at church. Don't do it. Some people dancing around the auditorium. Yeah. You got hardly any musical talent, but could probably pull that out. It could be done. It could be done. Wait. Are you gonna do this are you gonna do this deal? What? Are you gonna do the tambourine thing? I did. Oh, I missed I can't it was a spontaneous deal. I've already done it. Okay. So so if if Jesus wants me to get a a new guitar, what what brand does Jesus want me to get? How much does Jesus wanna spend? I've always wanted to get a tailor, but I don't know if that's as as a quality as it used to be. I think they've kinda cheapened, haven't they? Used to be, like, really carefully handmade and all that stuff, and isn't it kinda just that anymore. Pump them out and
I don't know. If you can sell you can buy them at Best Buy, they can't be that good, can they? Sure. I mean Is that true of anything at Best Buy? I don't know. Bought a anywhere? I don't know. Where else you go to buy a TV? Walmart? Direct to the factory? They're gonna be less top of the line there. I got 0% interest on Best Buy though. Damn. You're supposed be buying things up credit or you're on the Rams. Credit, are you? 0% interest. You're on the Ramsey. It's 0% interest in a in a a future. Exactly. It paid off this month. Paid off my car last month. Did you? That's Ramsey. I'm I'm I'm Ramsey all the way. Except for Well, but only only if you only if you got into those the debt prior to Ramsey. You can't Well, I did do it prior. I I don't know. I did actually after after. Yeah. See, that's that's not good, man. I get rid of my car lease this month. We're not really gazelles, we're kinda like That that was the car you bought and then just haven't been driving to make sure that you didn't go over the mileage. Yeah. We we maxed it out like a year ago. Oh, no. And I we had no business. We got handled, man, when we got this car. Leases are not a good idea, are they? Oh, Oh, no. And I mean, they're It's terrible. And and we have to give it It's it's like, hey, we'll let you use this, pay us a ton.
I mean, cumulative over three years, we paid for a nice car to own Yeah. And we have to give it back. And there can't be one, you know, centimeter of damage on it which Yeah. Which there's, you know, there's a little bit you have, you know, you drive it Yeah. And so Oh, man. But once we're we're so glad or This is like freedom month for us. Even though we're probably still gonna owe them some money on it, you know, via extra miles and some other stuff. Like mean, guys are crazy with a lease. They get you coming and going, then they're gonna go ahead and sell it anyway. Yeah. Yeah. And then they get you right. Right. Like, you put it down payment, you pay them a crap load, and then you give it back to them, and then they pay you and yeah. And they say, well, for 12,000 you can have it. It's like, I would need 12,000. Right. And there's a turn in fee. Did you know that? There's a turn in fee. Like you're making me turn it in. But Yeah. But we were so glad to we had no business getting that in the first place. Doesn't sound like we It sounds like there's nothing but bad points to it. I don't know. Well for a lease and and the thing is we said well well what's it to to to buy and they said oh well you can't. Like like they were running it and they they went to the back you know I don't know if there even was a back. There's no bad. But like And said I actually believe it because we we didn't even have good credit at the time and somehow we we got in on this. So we're like, well, it's You know, we like It's cool. Pulled one over, you know. We're like They're saying the same thing. Screw over. Yeah. And but they said they said, no, you can't afford to own it because the payment's even higher if you own it.
And the lease payment's ridiculous too. But so we had like no option to do that. So we leased it and we did it. And and it's just like it's a It's one of those choices you made that there's just nothing you can't try and sell it. You know, there's just nothing you can do about it until you just get done with it. You're just renting a car long term. And we actually don't We we did the Dave Ramsey program and we actually luckily we didn't have to really follow through for this very long but we stopped paying it for a couple months because we said, you know, if you gotta come take this, you're gonna have to come take it because that's what Ramsey says. Gotta put your four walls up and pay. We were sometimes paying that payment and then running out of food money. And it's like hold on, this is way off base. I'm all for fulfilling my commitment but not when it's interfering with my family. And we did commit, I mean it's our own fault. Sure. But but at the same time, it's like, if you're gonna we're gonna have to pay the repercussion of whatever this means. If you have to take it away, you gotta do it. You know? But luckily, we didn't have you know, it didn't have to come to that. We we kinda caught up. But Yeah. Yeah. We're we're glad
to were real popular for a while. I think I still are. I think I still see them on TV once a while, Lisa's stuff. I've just never done it. I'm just just I know they were real attractive for for No way people do it. Yeah. Yeah. Well, mean, I mean, Ramsey says you shouldn't be you shouldn't get a loan for a car anyways. Yeah. Save up, buy car. I do that for candy bars and So what other mid grade purchase I like called CDEs. Mid grade. I didn't know candy bar was Gas. Save up for gas. I gotta save up there.
Yeah. I think our car's paid off this month. I'm pumped. That's awesome. They sent us our final payment of like like $150 and it's it's ours. That's awesome. I'm pretty pumped about it. Well, changes your perspective too. I mean, gone through the Ramsey class and then had the bad experience. And And I'm I'm kinda glad we've paid some of these prices young Yeah. Because like, you know, we'll never do these things again. Once we can climb out of the hole, then it's like, hey, we've Learned your lesson. Paid the price, learned it and Yeah. But, man, yeah, it's liberating to get rid of some stuff. We we paid off, one of our big credit card bills we had and back a couple months ago with tax money and stuff. We're like, oh, it feels good, you know? Yeah. I heard that stuff. Very sweet. Yeah. That was pretty nice. I guess for anybody listening that's not familiar, we're talking about Dave Ramsey. I'm sure you can get information on daveramsey.com, but the basic premise of his of his plan is to, you know, quit financing stuff, you know, pay your bills, pay to get your debt paid down, and stuff start living off your own money instead of living off the promises of other people's money. Live like no one else. Yeah. So you can live like no one else. Yes. I like that though. It's pretty cool. Yeah. Mean, it's true though. I mean, people people don't wanna work hard. I know. You know what mean? I mean, they don't want work hard. You know what's really cool or really kinda funny about that class is in our marriage, I'm the spender and Cheryl's the saver. And I went into this thinking, this is gonna be great because now we're both gonna be on the same page. Spender pages? Yeah. It's like, well, I'll just, you know, be in control and
Yeah. Right. She always has been in control. And every week, she'd come back going, I don't like it. What? I'm thinking, this is exciting. This is great. This is like She goes, no. I I don't want those limitations. I don't wanna be a gazelle. Like, what? Oh. What? So what? You were ready ready to get changed? Yeah. I'm like, alright. It's awesome. It's good. That's funny. Like, I'm not not and she's not a big spender. Mean, she just Yeah. You know, that was just kinda funny to hear her say that, you know. Right. It was like, well, okay. I mean, what does that mean? Yeah. Well, I wanna still do everything I wanna do. It's like, so you wanna live like everybody else? Yeah. They seem pretty happy with themselves. Dave Ramsey seems Still those miles out there? Yeah. But that's what's funny. That's what he talks about though is like, you know, keeping up with the Joneses is like, you don't know what's going on inside the Jones' house. Know? Like, they they got that car, they don't own it. They leased it, you know? And and they they're they're upside down on the house. Yeah. They can't get out. Yeah. Mean they're homeless vets on the side of McDonald's. Yeah. Hey. At least they got a post ops name out for Apparently. So But how cool is that though to to lose all your money and not have any money and now be like this multimillionaire because you're telling other people to not spend money. Yeah. That's that's a pretty good deal because everybody I mean, he's making a ton. Well, he is. People give him a lot of a bad rap about it. They're like, oh, he's getting rich off of the other I I don't have a problem with that. Teaching them. He's educating people. Right. Yeah. He's not I like It's not a gimmick. I think that's a lot of times people who haven't been through it say that. Yeah. You know what it's like? It's truly good stuff. Yeah. And and the thing is is like a lot of churches will sponsor
It doesn't you know, to get but but, you know, churches will sponsor you to take the class or I mean Right. I mean, he's got books and yeah, he's he's he's making money off it, but I don't have a problem with that. You know? Yeah. Well, yeah. He's giving good stuff. He really is helping people out. Pay money to take a class. Right. That's how I looked at it. It's like we'll take we're taking a financial class and And do you and that's the thing. It's like a lot of things that you can get for free, do you want? Do you want the free advice? Yeah. I'd rather pay It's painful. And get something good. Yeah, right. The the the free advice has got you, oh, you need to take out a bunch of credit cards to boost your credit credit score. Exactly. The free advice is you know, you buy a big house and start paying it down because that's your best investment. The free advice is you know, max out your four zero one k, always, you know, diversify your investments, all this stuff. Yeah. Yeah. What was the it's a Discover card commercial the other day. Was how'd that go? Something about it was just it was hilarious. You know, it was basically, you know, spend your way into prosperity type of thing. Oh, yeah. I mean, like in what what yeah. Just charge everything up. It'll be great and you'll be wealthy. I'm like And then there's people who will say, you know, always give you, yeah, but the yeah, but I've got a credit card, but what about emergencies? Well, say for it. Have emergency fund. Mean that's obvious. And then they'll say, well what about Well, you know I get a lot of perks and I'm really responsible so I pay it off and I get the So I'm basically coming out ahead of this deal Uh-huh. Because I'm playing the game right. It's like, yeah but you're playing If you're super game though. I mean, you're you know, you're praying Yeah. I mean Yeah. You Yeah. Yeah. The the credit card companies make money because they're being gamed. Yeah. Exactly. Right. Like I'm pretty guys in the country that are pulling this off. The big hauls really dumb. The credit card companies. Way to go. No. No. I'm not the sucker. Everyone else is the sucker. Finally, Harbor Freight has sent me a credit card I've been waiting for. I'm
