Segments

  • Show open: Spirit Midwest festival preview 0:24–5:12
The episode opens from the Pathway studios in Johnston proper with a preview of a packed show. The hosts note Mike Foost is absent tonight and run down the night's lineup: phone interviews with Jeff of Satellites & Sirens, KJ, David of We Are Leo, and Tanya Hughes. They preview their first-ever live broadcast from the Spirit Midwest music festival, camping on site both Friday and Saturday, and their own Truth Talk stage show Saturday at noon.
  • Interview: Jeff of Satellites & Sirens 5:12–16:57
The hosts interview Jeff of the band Satellites & Sirens by phone. He describes a new album due in September, the new single 'Ready to Save' going to radio, and how the album was funded through Kickstarter, including a $10,000 tier to tour with the band. He reflects on two Dove Award nominations as encouragement, the band's ridiculous early name ideas, and whether digital music makes autographs awkward.
  • 'Ready to Save' playback and post-interview banter 16:57–19:27
The hosts play a snippet of Satellites & Sirens' 'Ready to Save' and react warmly to it. They recap the interview, note the band was nominated rather than winning the Dove Awards, and point listeners to the band's website and social media. One host admits looking at the band's Facebook photos mid-call and spotting a keytar.
  • Interview: KJ on teen rap ministry 19:27–30:04
The hosts interview KJ, a young Christian rapper playing the festival Friday at 7:35 on the Rock Stage. KJ explains that his dad started rapping first, that he survived a fatal car accident at age one, and that he sees his music as his calling. He walks through his 'God Music and Money' album and cites Matthew 6:33: serve God first, make music as ministry, and let money follow. They discuss his music videos, his Truth Talk stage talk on the life of a Christian teenager, and Christian venues in Minneapolis like Club Three Degrees.
  • Troy arrives; festival lineup and hype 30:04–38:28
Troy Engeldinger drops into the studio and the hosts recap the evening's interviews. They hype the Spirit Midwest lineup: Jess Anderson, Vance Lambert, Syndrome of Fire headlining the Rock Stage Saturday night, Saved on Sunday, On This Rock, and Jeff Arendale. They praise the free festival as the ministry work of organizers Alan and Julie and joke about whether Melchizedek will come up at the Truth Talk stage.
  • Pathway Church plug and show concept 38:28–40:00
The hosts plug Pathway Church, which meets at Wallace Elementary with services at 9 and 10:30. They lay out the show's concept: people trying to stay on the path Christ wants, sometimes talking serious theology, sometimes donkeys, all to worship Christ and glorify him.
  • Interview: David of We Are Leo 40:00–57:56
The hosts video-call David of the band We Are Leo, whose debut single 'Live for Love' has been on Christian radio for three weeks and is playing in Australia. He describes the 18-month album made with Ben Kasica, who recently left Skillet, playing Rib Fest in Michigan, and a band assembled from Colorado, the Chicago area, and Detroit. When David asks how the show started, the hosts explain they are from Pathway Church in Johnston, Iowa, and set up their own ministry center studio to interview bands on their own terms. A running Jimmy John's gag threads through the call.
  • 'Live for Love' playback and banter 57:56–59:18
The hosts play a snippet of We Are Leo's 'Live for Love'. Troy returns to the screen and the hosts banter about whether any of them could replace band members, pitch themselves on egg shaker and auxiliary percussion, and lament that broadcasting all day means they will not get to watch many sets.
  • Golden labradoodle Nugget 59:18–59:55
A host shares that the family got a golden labradoodle yesterday named Nugget, after the chicken nugget. They riff briefly on the name, then pivot to dialing the next interview.
  • Interview: Tanya Hughes on obedience and provision 59:55–1:13:57
The hosts interview Tanya Hughes, a gospel and soul singer playing the festival's main stage Saturday at 1:25. She addresses a host she greets as Ben by name. She describes the last ten years as a preparation period, losing her husband in 2001 and other close people, and stepping out in 2009 to do music full-time out of obedience with no assured paycheck. She tells how God provided through music when her husband's state job was frozen by the Minnesota government shutdown. They discuss her eclectic style, her 2006 hymn project, and her outreach work: partnering with a friend's homeless transitional center for women and organizing a Twin Cities artist fundraiser after tornadoes hit four blocks from her home, raising over $100,000.
  • 'Great Is Thy Faithfulness' playback and post-Tanya banter 1:13:57–1:17:30
The hosts play Tanya Hughes singing 'Great Is Thy Faithfulness'. A host says he grew up in an older Baptist church and is floored when hymns are done well. They note her varied career, including opening for acts like Ray Charles and Franklin. One host, who introduces himself by name as Dan Hudson, jokes about going on tour and only eating blue M&Ms.
  • Festival logistics and merch bit 1:17:30–1:24:25
The hosts muse on the economics of touring Christian bands: 50 bands with merch tables at a free festival, vans and trailers, covering expenses off CD sales. They plan press passes and lanyards modeled on Needtobreathe passes, drift into a bit about the word 'loom' versus 'weaving machine', and joke about Dan playing his out-of-tune guitar.
  • Jared Roy printing call and gumball machines 1:24:25–1:35:45
The hosts call their friend Jared Roy by phone to ask whether he can print LFTP shirts, lawn chairs, and lanyards in time for Friday. Jared says his print film is on backorder. While waiting for him to call back, they heckle Olson over a gumball machine on eBay, and after Jared joins they joke about printing the show's red guy logo on gumballs and shaved heads. Jared says he can probably do the chairs.
  • JC Walker thanks, posters, and festival rumors 1:35:45–1:40:35
The hosts thank JC Walker of Iowa Realty, who donates his Praise 940 radio show time to LFTP on the first Sunday of each month, and recommend him to anyone selling a house. They riff on selling old posters and gumball machines, joke that Justin Bieber might show up at Spirit Midwest, and land on a bit about wanting Jared to make a 'no bakes?' shirt for rumored festival guest Michelle Bachmann.
  • Verse of the day: Hebrews 10 on deliberate sin and cheap grace 1:40:35–1:51:18
A host shares the verse he has been pondering all day: 'It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God' (Hebrews 10:31). The hosts read Hebrews 10:26-31 aloud and discuss how it is written to Christians about deliberately continuing in sin, not to unbelievers. They debate the church's danger of making grace cheap, the gap between the sacrificial system and a distanced modern faith, and land on the distinction that actions, not just words, make a profession of faith true or a lie.
  • Mike Foost calls in from the dining room 1:51:18–1:55:03
Mike Foost, the co-host who was absent all show, calls in while painting his dining room yellow. The hosts tease him and Troy over who owes whom money for the festival director chairs, riff on yellow reminding them of mustard, flowers, Jesus, and school buses, and say the show's first hour was good before the last half hour capsized the boat.
  • Sign-off 1:55:03–1:55:31
The hosts let listeners off early, wish them a good week, and close with a reminder that LFTP will be broadcasting from the Spirit Midwest music festival Friday and Saturday, a free show with many bands.

up on Friday and Saturday I mean there's some top-notch talent gonna be there yeah we're rocking and rolling yeah it's gonna be pretty good pretty good noticeably absent tonight is is Mike Foost who oh what was it what did we call him Martin anyway yeah anyway he's he's tending to some important important operations at his own castle sure so good luck to him with that we'll we'll miss him tonight but he will be be rolling in in full force at the spirit Midwest music festival so we'll see him then and we do expect a tardy but ever effervescent Troy Engeldinger rolling in here about 10 30 awesome to get on get on with the Lord's business here at live from the path this weekend's gonna be a marathon it's gonna be crazy yeah and you guys are camping oh

heck yeah it's gonna be a little scary it is it is we're gonna bring soap I here's the deal so so we're broadcasting from the spirit Midwest music festival both Friday and Saturday and Saturday this is a first time at this type of operation and in the history of the world yeah yeah it's not it's not been done okay so we're that good so it's gonna be hot it's gonna be sticky out there we're gonna be we're gonna be out in the sun doing interviews playing music run around getting video bands we can put it on the air we are gonna be some gamey fellas it's gonna smell like a fish hut in there at about 11 30 at night and I don't think that's gonna prove between that time and the time we get up say around 7 it's not yeah it won't get better it's it's yeah I'm a little worried yeah I'm concerned it's for breeze yeah I would get I would say good idea yeah two bottles for breeze

some soap on a rope there's gonna be shower somewhere around there or a hose or something you would think so they're gonna have water games you can just go down the water slide down the water I'm just guessing but I'm guessing that they frown upon bathing in the water features that they're gonna be proud we don't tell them that's what you do hey it looks really really kind of here can we can we do this once excuse me can you ask for permission you try it can you hold my loofah before I make a run down it and then toss it down the side oh oh anyway anyway it's gonna be a ton of fun so we're gonna be broadcasting basically for the entire festival starting at four o'clock on Friday all the way to the till they shut it down Saturday around 10 you need some five hour energies or something it's gonna be it's gonna be some wild times gonna need something but but here's the deal is I'm I'm I'm Jesus jazzed for what's going on like there's gonna be a ton of

awesome bands there but there's 50 bands yeah there's 50 bands there's gonna be some food there there's gonna be the the the bathing or the water features we're gonna be doing a we're gonna be doing a on the truth talk stage so there's gonna be some really cool folks in there on that truth talk stage included the corn 3d who we talked to last week and KJ who we're gonna be talking with here in just a few minutes but we're also gonna be doing a live a live from the path from the truth talk stage at noon we're gonna do a formal a show for about 30 minutes then we take some questions and kind of discuss what it is that we're about for another 15 we've been preparing for that for about three weeks yeah is that on Friday or Saturday Saturday Saturday that's gonna be Saturday yeah so anyway that's like a good spot isn't it prime time right there yeah and we're opposite some I'll have to check the schedule again but there's some solid dudes before and after us

so if we can that's a mistake it well maybe people need a break between solid dudes and then they're coming in for us you don't know I'm gonna go get some pizza yeah we got from life in the path that's yeah that's what I'm thinking is going to happen so I'll tell you what let's uh but right now we need to get uh we need to get in contact with uh satellites and sirens hold on I got tunes coming from somewhere but it's really nice there they are okay I got them all right I'll tell you what let's uh let's see what's going on with satellites and sirens let's see if they're hanging out stop that that's cheesy come on we're both cheese Jeff hey Jeff this has been with live from the path how you doing great man how are you doing we're doing great this is uh Jeff with satellite and sirens they're going to be at the rock stage at 8 20 on Saturday at the spirit Midwest music festival um and boy there's a seems like there's a ton going on in the uh the satellites and

sirens world oh yes absolutely what's uh maybe time I saw uh I saw so is it potentially a new album coming out in the September time frame yep September new album comes out uh our new single actually just hit radio um last week so it's just starting to uh get added to a lot of the the uh radio stations and we're just uh kind of booking up now and and getting the fall uh in the spring uh getting the dates together and things like that so well that sounds pretty cool very cool is it uh it I mean uh it would be helpful to kind of call and harangue some radio stations in a plane ready to save oh absolutely because we can do that I mean that seems like something we could put some effort into we got friends in places I love that idea well okay I'm gonna think on the best way to make that happen but I think I think it should be done now do they uh do you have free promotional copies for this radio station do I got to convince them to go buy it oh well we'll get some free ones out for sure

you know what Jeff I knew you were the man you're gonna give out free tunes this high class operation they're coming your way sweet well that might degrade your operation I would I wait see how effective we are first um so um you know one of the things uh so like I said you're gonna they're gonna be at the rock stage at 8 20 on on Saturday so where are you guys coming from um we're actually going to be in uh Peoria Illinois um the night before that so we actually have a little bit of a trek to get there but um you know it's it's not too bad and we're actually excited to kind of come up to that area we haven't played in Iowa yet so um we're looking forward to it huh we'll open up a whole new world for you I see your tour dates here and I don't see Iowa on the list I'm a little bit upset what was that um I'm just looking at the tour dates here and I don't see Iowa on the list I was just a little it's not on there oh I mean um it's from August 18th and on it starts post yeah spirit Midwest man that's because they

know that's when everything starts now after Iowa now so Jeff so if we're looking at satellites and sirens.com um there's a there's four dudes hanging in a mess of pedals which which one is you um I am the second to the left ooh ooh that's a fierce look you got on your face yeah yeah I'm definitely the most attractive one well I mean I can't outwardly second that but I mean I can ascend I can nod my head although the guy on the far right is fetching anyway so are these all the non-working pedals I mean well you got mad through about in the street and everybody tripped over him and you took a quick picture how'd that work that's great well you know we just kind of threw a bunch of stuff down on the ground and uh we just kind of fell on top of it and we just landed so great and they took the picture right at the right time and you know that was actually a one take right there and uh that's awesome move anything and put anything in place it just all just

landed right there so it's kind of crazy so some people like pay for photographers and stuff you guys don't need to do that that's awesome yeah no we just uh yeah we just went up to this this area kind of we had this idea that the cover of the album is actually just all the gear and so what we did is is I thought it'd be really cool for the shot of us to just kind of throw it all on the ground and just kind of get in the midst of it because that's kind of how we are we like a lot of gear and a lot of things and and so we kind of we like to use a lot of that stuff a lot of stuff that's there we actually use on stage and that type of thing so so you actually plug it in yeah it's not just props so I noticed that did you um the album was funded was it funded through Kickstarter yeah the album got funded through Kickstarter for the new one and uh it was uh it was actually a really great um kind of come together project I think for the fans and friends and

family and all that kind of stuff and us uh to just kind of be able to to do that um it was it was really cool to see it fund um it's kind of exciting because sometimes you're not exactly sure you know as as a band you're like okay am I are we actually out there connecting are we making the connections do people want the this new record and so it was great to kind of see all that come together yeah and so for the folks that may not be familiar uh and you can stop me if I'm not uh describing this right Jeff but so Kickstarter is kind of a way where where fans or people that support what you're up to can go and kind of make micro donations to support the project right yeah exactly there's a certain time limit um and then by however much somebody uh gives to the project they actually get something out of it so um you know for you know $30 you get a pre-release copy of the record with um a copy of the DVD of the making of and you know all these different things all the

way up to like if you gave $10,000 you actually go on the road with us for a week so oh man I knew everything in I wish I would have known that I had $10,000 last week and I spent it like a fool I know maybe we can pool our resources well I'm gonna have to sell some stuff I'll just apply for my school loans and then drop out and I'll give the money to you guys that that is amazing yeah that's a that's new testament right there number one fan that's straight out of the book of Acts as long as you put me in the band as number one fan there you go oh she'll need a t-shirt yes number one and two and okay I like that so I you know I had a question so the the band's name is is satellite and sirens what uh is there a favorite name you had that you didn't end up using or is that that kind of been the deal from the start wow I had the worst time thinking of a band name um I actually was just trying to name the most ridiculous things that I could possibly think of um and I really

honestly don't remember any of the other names that I tried to put out there just because they were that bad or is it because this one's so good that everything paled exactly I'm gonna spread a rumor that you had just had previously landed on the fighting pandas and then gave up for satellite sirens that's what I'm gonna go with perfect done done so this uh this past round uh so satellite sirens was nominated for for two dev awards have you um I mean what was that experience like that's gotta be pretty cool man it was uh it was one of those things that kind of blew us all away we didn't really expect it um and to be up against you know some of the people that we were up against you know the toey max in the third day and the switch but um the red you know it was just kind of like man to even be you know knowing first off that we had absolutely no shot in winning against any of those people but just the fact that we were able to be um in the same

league as those guys um was was just kind of a real exciting and and uh encouragement for us you know because you know the first couple years of the band um going out there just playing as many shows as you can and trying to make a name for yourself you just don't really know um exactly what uh what's gonna happen and so you definitely go through the ups and downs and so certain times where you're kind of like well I don't you know as am I supposed to be doing this God you want me to keep going you know how what do you want us to do and and the encouragement is just kind of like that okay um it came at a great time because we're like well let's do a second record and there's kind of some good encouragement for us to take it out there and just keep doing it so oh absolutely yeah that's awesome that would be difficult I think to decide to try and figure out if you're doing it for yourself or if it's just a fun thing or if this is what God has in store for you or you know yeah trying to figure

that out I can't that would be really and that's you know that's a pretty that's a stiff struggle struggle all the way around I mean that that's something I mean I think anybody can can relate to is you know whatever I work in an office building and the question is am I working for Christ here or what you know am I am I being validated is this something that God wants me to do or am I am I you know should I be pursuing something else and I've just gotten comfortable where I'm at or I really like this because I like the the money or the atmosphere or whatever I think that's something anybody can relate to I think it's a lifelong struggle when it's it's hard to when it's like you know a goal and a passion to that that you know I've my entire life had this goal and passion to do something musical and and sometimes it's hard to look at that and be like okay is this is this my selfish desires is this why I'm doing this or is this really something that

is from you and that you want me to do and so it is it's definitely a hard thing yeah yeah yeah but and it helps when other people confirm what God's doing through you you know it's the awards and the and the whole popularity growing with the band and everything that's that's awesome well cool well well I tell you what Jeff I really appreciate you taking some time out of your schedule to to give us a call we look forward to seeing satellites and sirens again they're gonna be at the rock stage at 820 on Saturday definitely go to hit iTunes and pick up ready to save I think it's a it's a buck right 99 cents or do you charge 99 cents awesome right now are you able to jack that up like if you wanted to charge five bucks could you or is it is it pretty standard at 99 cents um you know technically I think we could charge whatever we would like to charge but I don't think anybody would buy it at five dollars so you know what Jeff's a

marketing genius and he's good people but you don't need as many people to purchase it is really smart idea so so how do you how do you do autographs with that you can't like sign the the CD if it's it's it's on digital that that's like a whole new wave here how are bands doing that that's rough how how are people wait I mean they can't come say hey can you sign my CD because I bought an eye on iTunes it's true you have to like find each other's Twitter now oh there we go that's what that that at sign is you know you're like that's that's kind of like finding something for somebody you know I would feel like that's dangerous if by by selling digital music and people don't have something for these signs so they come up with weird stuff like can you sign my elbow or my shoe or something like it seemed like it

could put you in an awkward position exactly I've had people sign my shoe before I knew you would do that inside or out out I just wondered that's true valid question yeah there's there's some funny things that people want you to sign so I my favorite though I find an iPhone so I'm like iPhone I'm like wow man I cost a lot of money for you and you wanted me to put my signature on it so that means a lot I think that's that's a commitment that's a commitment to Satellite and Sirens which I get in full support of I think you should be because they're that great that's so I tell you what Jeff we're we'll let you go go back to bed or whatever it is you're up to at this late hour we look forward to seeing you on Saturday and hopefully we'll be broadcasting for the festival so hopefully we can kind of hook up again and talk some more with you and the rest of the fellas yeah I'd love to see you guys meet face to face

for sure all right sounds awesome thanks Jeff well thank you guys all right bye bye bye so here I'll let you hear a little bit this is a this is a little bit of a ready to save by Satellite and Sirens yeah I like this yeah that's nice sound to it maybe that's some pretty big names and the whole double word thing yeah they win it or they just not they were nominated but I using the word just I think is doing a disservice that's a well it's a honor to dominate it no they didn't win right but yeah I said that right you mean what I mean sorry I apologize but to be yeah they were mentioned in in the same category and in this I mean that that's that's that's really neat that's quite an honor yeah yeah that's that's pretty cool I don't believe my name was mentioned at all that evening either I came up but I was in the technical awards the things that happened before the video brought you know that's that's how it is a list of life of a man like

me that makes sense that makes sense well so so again just to remind that they're gonna be at the rock stage at 820 on on Saturday and you know you go go check them out if you go to satellite and sirens.com you can get a link to all their social media they're on Facebook MySpace you can check out that picture we were talking about he does look pretty fierce though I mean that's yeah I like it I was looking at it while we were talking I just felt like we were friends right yeah I was gonna say that and I thought maybe that'd be weird that'd look creepy and then I also saw a picture I was looking at their Facebook pictures and I saw a keytar that's so awesome but I didn't want to be like I'm stalking you right now what is a key tars is that one of those keyboard guitar things yeah a keytar a keytar oh which one of the dudes plays that I need more information we're okay they'll need a pebble for that we're gonna have to get a hold of them

fellas when they when they come to the to the festival we'll try to we'll get an interview with them on Saturday see if we can talk to them it's gonna be awesome all right so anyway that's a satellite and sirens you can check them out at at satellites and sirens.com now how can we remember that though so it's the spelling okay did we get an answer of how they came up with the name it was it no but I think it's on their website if I remember reading it well no it's not on their website I did see it somewhere though I don't remember what I said maybe they've got some they do some cool posting on YouTube they've got some cool clips out there so definitely you know we hit their hit the hit satellites and siren.com and check out there they got links to Twitter Facebook and YouTube and you can check out their stuff there okay hey hey I told you we got it we got a rolling evening let's let's get a hold of KJ keep it moving all right here we

go let's see what's happening I should start before I start talking before I make phone call that's filling the silence but it's cool to hear this noise yeah it makes it sound pretty legitimate yeah so our website we should be going to KJ hey there we go KJ can you hear me all right buddy yeah how's it going all right we're doing good how are you pretty good pretty good all right very cool well you're on live from the path this is this is KJ he's going to be playing at the Spirit Midwest Music Festival Friday at 735 at the Rock Stage I'm pretty excited to have you come down it'd be my honor to come down and have some fun with you guys it's my first time coming there so you know we should have a good time what so if someone hasn't seen a show from from KJ what can they expect at the show a lot of heightness a lot of a lot of good entertainment a lot of ministry and lyrics you know just a lot of fun energetic hype show very cool so what

what got you into that like you talk about the using like this form of entertainment as a as a ministry how did you get into it the way I got into it was my dad started rapping before me and I thought it was very interesting what he was doing so I wanted to do what he was doing and I believe that God called me at a young age to do this because um before when I was one years old got into a fatal car accident and um but I came out alive no scratches unharmed and so I believe that my life has a purpose so one of my gifts that I use is rap very cool that is very cool so go ahead Dan well I was to say have a traumatic experience like that oftentimes that kind of gives you a little heightened purpose than than the average person who's just kind of you know living day by day and not thinking about it and so well and that's and that's that's kind of cool because that you know there's sometimes so many people um you know have they spend a lot of time trying to find their purpose for Christ you know what what is it that I'm

supposed to be doing with my life uh and that's got to be pretty cool to to kind of get the sense that that you you're being carried along for a reason and God's got some plans for you that's that's cool yeah so uh here's the here's the one thing is so I was uh I was checking some stuff out um and you you've got to go to YouTube and check out uh KJ's music videos I mean this is this is some sweet production these the tunes are hot and the uh the production on the videos is just awesome I mean I uh I I watched a bunch of them and they're they're all pretty sweet nice did you um I mean how did you come up with kind of the concepts of those videos KJ um the way that I come up with the concepts is me and my dad go through them uh see what we think should be the main push and drive of the video and that's what we target so um you know I get a lot of help from my pops yeah is it so is that him that's in the uh so I in the God music and money video uh and the do something with it is is he in both of those videos um he's in the God music

and money video okay so who's the guy that's played your dad in the to do something with it that's actually one of my dad's good friends oh he does a sweet job anyway they're really cool I I would highly encourage you to go check them out it hit his YouTube it's uh oh you know what I meant to write down it's it's KJ uh do you remember what your YouTube tube name is KJ uh KJ2 that's right that's what it was yeah so you go check that out on YouTube uh it's they're solid they're all some pretty sweet video is it the letters KJ or is it K-J-A-Y yeah it's K-J-A-Y okay if you type it in for YouTube it's K-J-A-Y too yeah okay for people like me that'll confuse me um so so tell me a little bit about so the the last thing you came out with was was titled God music and money uh and that's that's the title track off of that tell me a little bit about that song and kind of kind of where you're coming from with it God music and money explains uh the priorities um to live in a a good holy life um right now the reason

why I came out with the album called God music money is because for teens nowadays our priorities are mixed up you know we uh worship money cars clothes jewelry and all of this other materialist things um but in the Bible in Matthew 633 it says seek ye first the kingdom of God and all this righteousness and everything else will be added unto you so I say I serve God I make music and get money serving God he's the head of my life so I serve him and then my ministry is my music to uh spread the word of Jesus Christ throughout the land and then because of that God um God blesses me um and I prosper from my ministry which is the getting money part that's a pretty good plan yeah that's a I got a win-win you gotta dig on those priorities absolutely uh so you're also gonna be spending some time at the truth talk stage I think that's at 1 p.m oh so he's one of the top builders so we're gonna be at the truth talk stage uh at noon and the court these before us and then you're

after us so we we decided that we were the kind of the the rest act where they could see some sweet guys and then kind of take a break go eat some pizza yeah there's gonna be some barbecue stuff like that there do the water slide and then come back for KJ when he's on at one exactly um but uh but so they have you set up at the truth talk stage um what kind of stuff can they expect to hear from you as part of that discussion um what I'm gonna be talking about at the truth talk stage is basically what a Christian teenager goes through um in his everyday life being surrounded by teens that aren't Christians um I'm also gonna be talking about the problems and situations that I face personally um in the high school because I go to a public high school yep um then I'll be also talking about uh my personal testimony and why I believe that I was called to you know teach the truth of Jesus Christ at a young age that's great because that means a lot more coming from you as opposed to coming

from me who who they didn't have high schools when I was young it was just kind of they were just thinking about it and they're like maybe we had to do school sometime and they they kind of did it later so so you're someone they could relate to if someone's in in you know school right now so that's awesome that's great I mean good to hear that that is true Dan is pretty old I don't know if you can if you can see him I try to turn that camera a little bit closer to him but he's a pretty he's a pretty old the camera takes about 35 years off me it's great so I see okay I was looking at your page here you're gonna be at Jordan Creek on August 5th and 6th yes and 6th okay yeah so is that the festival yeah oh yeah that's the festival yeah well I was just confused because I didn't know if there was like double if you were going to oh you had anything else going on yeah side of it yeah gotcha okay so like like so do you have do you have venues that you're in Minnesota right yes like are you finding

that there's there's a lot of venues that are that you can go and perform in or is that is that kind of tough to I was just trying to think of what we had around here besides maybe the festival and there aren't a ton of places to like venues that would be able to to facilitate a kind of the types of acts that we'll see at the at the festival do you have a do you find that you're you've got some places to perform up there or do you kind of does it take some effort to get around no there's the places to perform Club Three Degrees which is a huge Christian nightclub downtown Minneapolis then you know the regular venues churches yeah my concerts what else you know sunshine festival is up here sure there things like that did that that just happened right this is that sunshine festival just went on yes did you were at you were at it this year yep I performed on the main stage this year got rained out during the performance oh no but I'll be there next year for the main stage cool very cool I you know I haven't made it

up for that would you would you highly recommend that oh it's it's the place to be in Minnesota for festivals it's where it's at we're gonna we're gonna have to hit up they'll be calling us after this oh I'm sure I mean I then are you I mean are you young enough to travel are we gonna be able to make it up there with you you know give me enough days notice and I can hit the shakes or whatever exactly and you know this is weird so I was going around and I was just kind of checking out some media and stuff on you and you you must keep a pretty tight regimen I mean you've got some you got some beef on you on the top yeah I'm just saying him and I look pretty much the same I mean I'm built well and yes he's like the same guy yeah that's that's that's not true I'm built like a spaghetti very cool well I tell you what I I'm excited to come here yeah I've I would have to figure out a way to get out of our broadcast so I can hang out because I'm I'm really interested in hearing your

truth talk stage stuff and catching and catching at the hard rock stage do you have you'll have CDs and stuff for sale while you're there right yeah we'll have a merch table there very cool can anybody pick a are there some online venues people can pick up your stuff yeah you can go to iTunes Rhapsody CD baby you can go on my actual website listen to kj.com that's listen to kj8y.com and you can order online very cool awesome well KJ I really appreciate you taking some some time out of your day to visit with us we look forward to seeing you it's again he'll be at the Spirit Midwest music festival Friday at 735 at the rock stage and then at the truth talk stage at 1 p.m. on Saturday and that we'll be broadcasting there so so we hope to run into you and maybe talk a little bit more yeah it would be my pleasure to see you guys meet you guys have fun with you guys there so yeah awesome all right well sounds awesome thanks again for your time have a good one all right you too all right bye bye all right he seems to have a

have a lot going for him he's got it together yeah and I'm not kidding about his videos I mean they are sweet looking yeah I mean they're they're nice I mean and the tunes are cool it's uh yeah he's got that they know how to pull off some media uh in the uh him he's I was impressed very cool I was impressed it's really neat what what you can do these days you know without having some big monster production studio I mean I mean the technology it really helps the the little guy to kind of do stuff and kind of get known yeah noticed and and have have a legitimate ministry like you're and he's traveling around doing these talks and yeah and that's great well it's a cool it's a cool ministry too because they're um I think he's got he's got some great opportunity because I mean you're right I mean you can get up there as Pastor Dan and start talking about a bunch of stuff and um but I mean coming from a guy like that who's got uh who's got some experience he's he's in a in a public forum uh and he's

living it right for Christ I mean that's a that's a cool ministry to be a part of yeah I love it how old do you think he was he's high school I was gonna ask but I just didn't thought that might be really young but he sounds like mature yeah he's in high school must be it has to be an upperclassman junior senior ish I don't know we'll ask him yeah we'll ask him hey hey Spangalanger what's up not much how you doing good long day work but figured I'd come by and say hello fair enough fair enough choice of choice of the other toy uh I know you're here from the very beginning but like we've got a jam-packed we were two interviews in we got two more coming up we are Leo's coming up at 1040 and then we're gonna to uh to have some have a chat with the with the the beautiful Tanya Hughes who has just an amazing voice she really does I listened to some of her stuff this week and yeah I was real impressed yeah yeah so it's there's some stuff going down I believe she was pretty impressed with my vocal sound as

well I'm sure of it she sent me a message I sent her a demo yeah what do you think of this um voice good do you like me so uh what do you what do you think of me that's weird yeah I don't want to talk about you anymore let's talk about me we talk about me some um you know it's a question we've been talking a lot about the artists it'll be at the the spirit Midwest music festival definitely if you hit spirit Midwest dot-com you can get the full schedule uh they're sliding people in and out uh I just noticed some changes actually within the last few days oh really um so I mean definitely go out and check double check the times um so besides it you know satellites and sirens is going to be there we just talked to KJ is going to be there we talked to the core the last week he's going to be there um he sounds like he's got a got a really cool testimony at the truth talk stage and and and you can check out his performance uh also a friends of the show just Anderson's going to be in town Vance Lambert's

going to be in town syndrome of fire is going to be headlining the rock stage on Saturday night um a saved on Sunday is going to be there on this rock is going to be there Jeff Arendale's playing I mean it's they got everybody they got everybody too much fun it's gonna be sweet I'm impressed with this group of people I don't know how large a group it is you know do you know how do you know how big I don't you know we know Alan and Julie but how big of a group do they have the plans this thing they put a ton of effort into this yeah and and there's not like they're out there making big bucks and it's free you know I mean they get some support from stuff but I doubt they're like you know this is like they're doing it as a ministry yeah and I think that is so cool uh because you know people like me sit and think about it yeah we should do we should have bands yeah but I'm not gonna we've even tried to pull stuff off and it's

I mean it's low rent we've kind of we've chickened out at the last minute like we can't we can't pull this off but what they're doing is awesome yeah yeah and it's like you know I've lived in Des Moines most of my life it was away for a few years they how much is this their eighth or ninth year in a row doing this or I can't uh yeah it's close to that somewhere close to that maybe it's like why did I know about this before last year me I probably did and just like yeah that is really neat but didn't do it rather than than actually go out and and well you know that's the thing it's it's one of those things where you hear it and you're like oh man that'd be kind of neat to go to uh and then and then you don't do it but I but I promise you like the if you make it out there for one year you want to be coming back I mean it's just a it's a cool vibe there's a I don't know they got it spread out nice they got some different stuff going on the tent stages

get full of you know couches and chairs and stuff to sit at I mean we're going to be there and what else do you want come on uh I think they'll notice an instant increase this year in attendance I think there's no doubt about it speaking of I will tell you yeah I'm trying to get Friday off but I will definitely be there on Saturday okay Saturday and and you're going to be there Friday okay I'll be there okay we called your boss Joey Spangler is going to be there Friday matter of fact you called Scott yeah I got your HR person in my phone right here I can go ahead I can get you fired let's put it that way all right let's not do that please let Troy off for his Jesus festival okay can you get Troy Friday off you need some sensitivity training on Friday oh man so I anyway it's very cool I mean if you're um you know churches can take their youth groups out take your kids out it's a safe environment uh man I don't know I'm just I'm excited I know

that's uh when we're ramping up to it we don't talk about much else because I'm just jazzed about it yeah and here's the other thing is it's a it's an excellent arena to get to know musical artists that otherwise frankly I think have trouble getting exposure right say like I mean there's a there's a Christian radio station in town there's a few actually um you know but some of those those bands that are hovering just under I mean I've heard Jess Anderson on on on polls um but you know that are hovering just kind of under the water uh I mean you can you can catch them at festivals like this uh and it's a it's a tough it's a tough gig for people that are trying to serve Christ and make money and keep themselves afloat and maybe support a family or whatever exactly it's not an easy life it's not an easy life for anybody uh you know non-christian acts but you know Christian acts are I think are probably in a different even a different position because there's an

automatic thought of uh you know is there a conflict between my making money off this deal and trying to serve Christ you know and that's why I think KJ's uh you know perspective is a compelling one because I mean he addresses that head-on let's you know let's serve God first uh and enjoy the fruits that God provides right that's that's a way to roll about it yeah absolutely I dig on it all right um I was trying to think if there was anything uh anything that we've got going on um that was we're talking about there's so many cool artists going on there that uh besides the fact that we're so we're gonna be at the truth talk stage if you have any questions for us I mean we hit a lot of it on the chat um we won't be able to broadcast it live and do a chat with it I think the technical aspect is gonna make it difficult but we will try to kind of you know get the show archivable so that we can post it so people can check out our truth talk

stuff um but there's a lot of cool stuff for that truth talk stage I'm kind of excited for we're not gonna be able to swing by there as much as I'd like to when with all the music going on but um it's gonna be pretty sweet do you think we'll talk a lot about like Melchizedek and I think it's gonna come up yeah I think it's gonna come up that's a pretty hot topic out there in Christian world people are banging down the doors and saying tell me about Mel I need I need more information we just don't get enough constantly running through my mind so how is that gonna work King of Salem life in the path are you guys gonna just choose a topic and talk about the truth of it yeah how is that gonna work I think we're just gonna fire it up we're just gonna do what we do if we're gonna do what we normally do we're gonna do no preparation and show up and otherwise it'll just look fake and we'll be like that's uh and uh topic number six is

gee Mike I think that uh you're let's do that classic bit about you and Dan's shirt that's not a bad idea we actually you could do you could be the the I don't really want you to do the bikini but like the boxing lady except for you'll have you do a laugh track you can put on your on your swim trunks and do the laugh track and then can I hold the applause sign like when you guys are done you know yeah I think that would be good yeah I frankly think we're gonna need it I think we're gonna need it indicators when the people are supposed to be enjoying the show you don't think it'll be spontaneous I don't know and overwhelming I think people will just automatically start clapping and laughing Mike's how great we are my experience has not been that just because we think something is hilarious because we're laughing at ourselves to what other people are up to on the other end we don't know they're all

sitting there staring at the computer going really this is pretty lame I've actually heard that are you serious people just kind of staring like what actually I can here's here's how I know things have gone terrible uh suddenly I find that my wife has uh had amazon.com purchases time stamp during the show real quick we're gonna we're gonna run to an interview in just a second but real quick we are from pathway church and you can catch more information if you're looking for a church family you can find pathway church we meet at Wallace Elementary services at 9 and 10 30 you can go to path online the path online dot org for additional information so if you're looking for a church home we'd love to talk to you more importantly and I do mean that if you're looking for a relationship uh with Jesus Christ we have questions about any of that uh we'd love to be able to help you out the whole concept of the show um is is

these are people who we are people who are trying to stay on the path uh that Christ wants us to be on um and we're trying to reflect what that path looks like sometimes it it reflects um you know sometimes we're talking about some serious stuff sometimes we're talking about donkeys all the time we're having fun and trying to worship Christ and and make sure that he is glorified through what we're doing so like that that's kind of the concept of the show is what we're after um and if we can help at all answer questions uh if you think we've you know led you in the wrong direction ask away uh if you want to know more about big mail ask away because we got the answers we can help we'll probably laugh at you I that Amazon thing was a mistake because I have been ordering I've been ordering chords we like this is quite the operation we're trying to pull off at this music festival and there's like little chords and things that we

need as part of it I have been kind of overdoing it on the Amazon that was a woman I apologize dear wife that was a mistake of mine to bring that up to my own peril so uh you know my mistake oops I've been I've been known to do that I tell you what let's uh let's see if we can get a hold of the folks from from we are Leo everybody uh talk amongst yourself trying to find them they they have a website we are Marshall we are I think that's a whole different thing yeah we are Leo did you eat the original band members we are farmers hey guys David hey hey this is well I can uh we can hear you but we can't see you yeah let me try let me try calling you okay sweet that seemed to work last time okay please please stand by for a call from we are Leo I tell you could get up and kind of use the bathroom or something but I wait a minute I think this is gonna go well it's looking promising oh oh man there he is hey

David how's it going it's going great this is uh uh who the man that you are seeing on your screen right now is David from we are Leo welcome to live from the path hello David hey how's it going guys going very very well good so now uh David is a are you generally a man that is up late at night are we keeping you from bed uh no I'm up late at night usually what do you know now hold on a minute what are you generally doing up so late well um playing shows oh that's right praying they normally start at seven so that we go on at like eight you know then we sign autographs for an hour or two afterwards and then you pack the trailer and then you go to your and then you're all wound up from the show so do you have a do you have a favorite late night uh like restaurant haunt that you that you like to hit after a show uh you know what food is a really big kind of issue for our band I don't know we're kind of picky oh really do you do Jimmy John's Jimmy John's is one of our favorites because I was

gonna say you did Jimmy John's but you know I just had to guess how could you tell that by looking at him well look I mean he has the wholesome look here's what I would say David you might want to take a look yourself in the mirror and say what about me says I love Jimmy John's it's about quality you look like a man who loves a sandwich looks like a man who likes food so fast he freaks it's weird I have this crazy high metabolism oh I used to have that it stopped sorry so it's fine my wife my wife always says she hopes our kids have my metabolism but yeah but when I got married I was trying to gain weight I don't try anymore it's natural there is no try it's better when things that things are supposed to get easier as you get older oh it is okay well there you are well I think pants are feeling loose get older what's that are things getting easier as you get older everything's easier all right well I'm gonna grab headphones real quick like I'm having trouble hearing you guys okay

cool it'll take me like two seconds all we're gonna talk amongst ourselves Mississippi so what do you think I don't know so far so good yes he's quality order some Jimmy John's let's have him join our group we order Jimmy John's and have it delivered to their house but that would freak here's what I would say I think we could order order Jimmy John's and have it sent to David but if he's a man a sharp man and he looks to be a sharp man to me he would never give out his address to you we're gonna send Jimmy John's to you you could probably find it on the internet Chris you'd have to pay for it but it's still a nice gesture wait we can find your we can find your address on the internet Daniel probably it's a crazy world we live in that's true don't freak him out not that I'm going to that would just make me feel so oh it looks like he's a 17 and neck size in the shirt well so so there's there seems there's a lot going on in the world of we are Leo you have a you have a fresh album coming

out tell me a little bit about the album we're really excited about the album we worked on for about 18 months which was crazy and we made it with Ben who recently just quit Skillet I don't I don't know if you guys know him but Ben Casca produced it we've been friends for about 10 years so we've been talking about this project for a real long time she lured him away from Skillet so you're saying well I couldn't take all the blame but just trying to get something going that's all you know they're all still great friends and I know he's doing a lot of work for them still I think he's gonna play on their next several albums so very cool yeah very cool so what's the debut single is that is that live for love yeah live for love it's been on the radio for three weeks now and it's going pretty well super poppy really poppy we just got to an Australian Christian station today so we're on the radio in Australia we're really you have arrived I would say so yeah they won't

let us in there we've tried has banned us we are banned in Australia so I don't know if I let me do Jimmy John's there I don't know Jimmy John's a Jimmy John's I'm gonna Google that have you seen that commercial there with it where it has the Chinese guy and they're trying to do a they're trying to do it's a pitch and it's not going very well it's got a bunch of really well he's probably Japanese Japanese yeah so anyway he folds his arm and there he's not going and then all of a sudden he goes Jimmy John's Jimmy John's and they show up with a bunch of sandwiches what's that yeah yeah yeah that was us that was totally that's that was got his band not only do you do radio but you do TV as well that's impressive yeah I'm not really what I was gonna say we're worldwide but that's that is not true there hey we're on the internet we are Leo is true is in Australia we barely make it outside the barely make it outside the

confines of our radio studio so all right so we are Leo is gonna be you guys are gonna be on the rock stage on Saturday at 620 correct right yep we're looking forward to coming to Iowa we played at a couple churches before in Iowa I think we played a church in Pella a few months ago and we had a good time with those guys and why haven't you played at our church well what church to go to that's an awkward question Dan please do not accuse the guests it's got to be something with well you know what we'll have Jimmy John's I'm gonna take that my manager says I'm not allowed to talk about denominational differences I think okay we're non-denominational so we laugh at everybody you can say anything you want with us nice one thing I actually love about our generation is that that we are all about Jesus and we're not too worried about religion so yeah no doubt no actually then I was making fun of Dan and thank you well dad let me finish I about that not a fan shirt and

I actually just started reading that book is it is excellent thank you so far so hello and it's sorry it does a good job of that so we might have to do that so anyway go ahead yeah go ahead I'm hearing a woman or a girl's voice is yes oh there you are that's me there you go yeah there's yeah there's four people in here yep there's that's Troy Spanglinger or something like that or something like that you beaverdinger be Spanglinger it works nice so all of them the beep the beep the beep so what do you guys get in town are you gonna be here Saturday or Friday or when are you gonna be able to make it in town well we got a show in Michigan on Thursday hey is that the is that the where's the community advocate rib fest is that where you're coming from yeah well that sounded pretty sweet you should you should pocket some of that and bring it with yeah we'll try we'll put it in the freezer for you now

I mean I mean you don't reveal your industry secrets but I mean how do you get booked at a at a community advocate rib fest because that sounds awesome I have no idea you'd have to ask our booking agent that's awesome I'm gonna give him a call because he sounds like a man that makes magic I'm gonna start singing so that I can go to rib fests because that sounds like awesome yeah well the weird thing about rib fest is they want us to play for 90 minutes which for us being a sort of up-and-coming band is quite a long time yeah yeah so we're gonna probably play a couple of our songs twice but hopefully they won't notice they're eating ribs they won't what's that dad it's not like a they're eating ribs they won't notice it's very noisy bones it's been a while since I've had ribs but I don't think it's similar to the you can repeat the first set because the bar crowd has had too much that barbecue sauce is pretty spicy I don't know where you're buying ribs from but

you need to switch vendors so you guys originally from the Chicago area is that right we're based here actually the weird thing about our band is we're kind of from everywhere so me and my brother my brother's the drummer and we're from Colorado and then our guitarist is actually from like North Chicago area and our bass player is from Detroit so we're from all over how did you get such a such a varied group of fellas together um well that's a stumper yeah so me and Johnny started in my brother and um as we play we met on a band that's like things progress we found like a guitar player that was a better fit and a bass player that was a better fit are you there yeah yeah we're still here okay holy cats we've just gotten really close to you so when you come to Spirit Midwest if Ben and I play a couple instruments and we're a better fit will you dump two of the other guys I like a man that's open to options here's here's I tell you what David is a man I work

we're good buddies already he says you want to send me Jimmy John's look up the address you send it over you guys you guys rock at the tambourine I'll put you in yes he's a man of the people I love it wizard at auxiliary percussion I can do it I play a mean egg shaker oh yeah I've seen it so can they um where can people can they pick up live for love um yeah you can get it on iTunes um yeah we are Leo on iTunes and uh people have been asking us for years are you on iTunes and we're like no we're not we're exclusive you can only buy our CD at shows but now we're on iTunes so nice good yeah you could also uh you could also catch the band they're um they're all over the social media you can check out uh hello we are Leo dot com uh which is a again that's the hello is the title the uh upcoming album and uh there's connections to their uh to the YouTube to Facebook and Twitter and you can also sign up for their uh for the mailing list and uh I would you go check out YouTube they've got some uh somebody posted uh a copy of

the tune with the lyrics on it uh on YouTube recently yeah so you can read through them uh it's it's worth checking out happen every day and I'm like who are these people that are doing this well we get around just good Samaritans yeah well very cool so so just uh just to reiterate uh we are Leo they're gonna be at oh you know what what where did I put my list I had it up already they're gonna be at the at the the rock stage on on Saturday at 6 20 um they're gonna have a merch merch available can you pick up that now is that is the so you have a single out is the album ready to go the album is we've been uh we've been selling it um at festivals this summer oh very cool cool so yeah do you have t-shirts we do we have every sort of thing that you could want I'm in yeah I'm looking for a bean bag chair that says we are Leo on it can you help me out with that I got some spray paint that's a good answer I respect that we were so indie we get yelled at constantly by our booking agent and our managers and our record

people just because we came from like hey we'll just do it ourselves so nice I love that I like it so so do you guys realize I believe you scored pretty well if you're on the rock stage that's that's in the air conditioning correct is that the one that's in the building I don't know about that it might be pretty steamy at least last year was yeah but I'm not sure there's actually air conditioning that building might be steamy all get out I remember going in there a couple times thinking I better check out the rock stage and I was going into cool off all right well you might have the spot now I could have broken down in the last year I don't know but but that's so you guys have have been to the festival before yes yeah we were there so it's a word this is our that we are broadcasting from there this year we're gonna be broadcasting both Friday and Saturday and this is our first year for that we did swing by and put up a very mediocre tent and table there we had a

hand-drawn sign it was I mean it was just lame it was super I believe I laminated it so anyway we're going we're high dollar this year and we're going with a full-on broadcast operation so we were there last year and we also we have a really good relationship with with Julie and Al who put it on and they you know direct a lot of bands our way so that we can you know talk to you guys and try to get some media exposures through it so we do have a good association with those folks they're good people guys are fun to talk to you no one's no one's really said that that's not come up before that's no I'm serious I it's like the least awkward I've felt on radio before so awesome that's good we do what we can so what's your address again for the Jimmy Jones order and Dan comes and swoops in with the awkward I tell you what he's now has me motivated we're going to Australia we're going to Australia yeah I was trying to look that

up I think they're there actually so it it's weird we were I was thinking about it this week it's like we're obviously not in trained radio personalities we're just like what's what's speak for yourself like the thought was is like well you know I don't know really how do we conduct some kind of legitimate radio interview so people don't hang up the phone and we decided that that was really wasn't worth our time to try to figure out so we just say hey what's up David see what happens I hear you play music all right all right did one of you guys found the life from the path you want me to get started well it's so it came out of we're all from pathway church here in in Johnston Iowa and so we had we had started t-shirts yeah yes we have hoodies we have black hoodies I've lost someone made up of it mugs we've got keychain anyway go ahead anyway so so like on chairs we're not yet why don't we have David make he seems to

have a hand in it I think by this Saturday we will yeah I'm so uh so anyway have some ribs kind of they might have like barbecue sauce on them but I can the tracks ants we you were trying to answer a question yeah sorry so we ended up getting in on this oh there was someone that was doing like an internet type of broadcast and and Dan it is a is the pastor at the church and he ended up being on there for like a pastor's Friday and after him he and and Mike who's another guy who's generally on the show we're done they said look would you guys be interested in in doing a show and we're like well of course sure why not because that's awesome if Jesus wants it to rock it'll rock if he if it needs to fail we'll probably learn something from it so we're gonna go ahead and do that and uh so you know we did that for a while at a more uh at like a legitimate operation and then we ended up kind of setting it up at our own

our own ministry center it because it gave us a lot of freedom to kind of interview bands when not in a specific time frame and then kind of do things on our own and so that's kind of how we ended up here we've been doing for about a year almost a year and a half now that's awesome yeah and we're in Australia yeah and the yes they can watch us in Australia and eat Jimmy John's at the same time we're getting into the market yes what so I tell you I tell you what uh David I really appreciate you hanging out with us tonight um I look forward to seeing you uh at the hard rock stage at the at 620 at the spirit Midwest music festival and and like I said we're going to be there broadcasting so um if you guys got any time uh before or after you're set you want to swing by the stage we'd love to kind of sit down and talk some more with you guys yeah absolutely love that all right awesome well this is uh this is David he's with we are Leo make sure you

check him out uh you go to uh check out their new album uh you check out their website hello we are Leo dot com Facebook Twitter spirit Midwest music festival they could use the support and buy the lawn chairs thanks David thanks David thanks guys all right thanks bye bye he's a cool guy yeah he is a cool guy I like David man and he likes Jimmy John's and Dan can tell just by the look of him here's the deal we're three for three on awesome people yeah we're winning this is a good night this is an excellent night I'm excited we are unnecessary that that is the crux of the matter is it not we are ultimately unnecessary obsolete oh man yeah definitely so definitely check them out um shoot I meant to play a little bit of the tune I think I had the tune uh up and ready to go let me see if I can get you a little bit of it I love it when it's just me yeah I'm it makes I try hi everyone I try the eyebrow thing yeah

wait it doesn't work as good when you're looking at yourself you gotta look like yeah there you go that's there you go that's why you're here Troy let me entertain you I can't leave you guys alone for a minute I've tried to do the eyebrow thing I'm trying to put something together and I tell you what I leave you guys alone for just a hair and look what happens the place the place falls apart and then I get kicked out of the screen oh I kind of wanted to know why they were called we are leo oh sorry sorry so here's a here's a little bit of the tune uh this is ready to say by we are leo are we talking to the singer yeah yeah singing uh singing the keys I think I think I could play guitar better than this guy you cannot I'm in that guy would I'm gonna date uh yeah I'm gonna interview that guy would rock you something fierce I got the egg shaker for real though if they yeah if they ever need any old testament songs I'm there oh that's right I do need to introduce

him to Dan the old testament rocker never mind they're gonna take you on you're gonna be an opening act do you do any 80s uh old testament songs I do some disciples I rock those anyway it's the best we are leo awesome awesome there you are Troy you're back in action so definitely uh check them out um pick up that single from iTunes uh that's exciting they're gonna be man hey here's the deal Dan see here's here's where I'm a little bit irritated now because like because we're broadcasting all day oh no we don't get to really watch we're not gonna be able to make it out to these fellas okay you're working the booth Dan we're going out whatever we'll we'll go out to the bands and we'll like skype call you or something face-to-face or something okay now we can do that yeah that we can do we could so we'll be on location that's fierce speaking of a dog random comment we totally got a golden labradoodle yesterday you got one her name is

nugget as in chicken nugget does she leave any nuggets all right Dan anyway it's a puppy I'm totally cool with just randomly walking over and interview fans or whoever wants to be interviewed okay all right so we can we can interview the audience I think so okay hold on a song there so hold on we're knocking it down who we're going now this is Tanya so far so good well this is Tanya hey Tanya this has been with live from the path hey Ben how are you I'm very well or this it's late are we keeping you up well it's okay I'm gonna do this interview and then go on the crash afterwards I like it well so you were listening that voice you hear on the phone is Tanya Hughes she's going to be at the Spirit Midwest Music Festival 125 on Saturday on the main stage and I will I will tell you this so I was listening to some music and read some more about Tanya and she just has a beautiful

voice it is yes absolutely it is beautiful Tanya it's and the cool thing was if you if you listen to some of your music there's it's varied like what there was one of the hymns that was out there was just was just awesome but it's I don't know there's just a lot going on and and reading through kind of some information about you you've had a pretty pretty varied experience in the music industry haven't you I have I have well in life period I just the last 10 years have been just this preparation period for for me God is just really tried to get my attention and just completely trusting in him and so a lot of my music namely my current CD I'm ready now speaks about those those things that I've gone through for the last 10 years losing really close people who were very instrumental in my life as well as my ministry so yeah it's been a rough road but but it also speaks about my my triumph and my victories and that there is hope in Jesus Christ very nice

so you oh sorry can you hear that we're playing a little bit of the music behind you maybe not it was a little loud I was afraid we weren't gonna be able to hear you so so you're coming to the Spirit Midwest music festival like I said you're gonna be at the at the main stage on Saturday and one of the things I that I was reading so it sounds like in in 2009 you kind of kind of made a big shift in your life and and to doing music full-time what was that transition like it was hard stepping out completely on stage that not really knowing what was to come you know when you when you when you step out and when you leave something that that of assurance you know working a job you know that you're gonna have that paycheck coming in every two weeks but then when the Lord tells you to do something and you have no idea what's in front of you it's a scary scary experience and you just don't know what to expect so I did it out of obedience and I also did it because

it was a passion of mine and here I am today I've made a CD and I'm making a living off of it and God is good so I did the right thing and that's that's awesome that's it's interesting because we've heard that that's a kind of a consistent thing from a lot of the artists that we've talked to yeah it's people that are willing to I mean really let God take the reins and watch what God produces in their lives right definitely I mean out of obedience is where your blessings come from I don't believe God will tell you to do something and then leave you high and dry as to how to figure out what's gonna happen next so I believe when you obedient and you follow through with what he says he'll take care of you so and that's what he's done so I'm grateful for that absolutely that's extra scary when not only are you needing to provide for your own needs you have you have a family of children you know you've got a just all the responsibilities of life and I just put it all on the line and

say well here you go God do with me what you want that is that's gonna be frightening yep so definitely frightening and definitely a test of your faith and I tell you what and here in Minneapolis we just had a government shutdown for 20 days and my husband actually worked for the state and we're like oh wow Lord what are we gonna do but I tell you during that three week period God provided for us like you wouldn't believe and that was through music for both of us both my husband and I we do music and I believe that what he wanted us to know that no matter what happens that he is our source not the government not our jobs not anything else but he is our source as long as we put him first absolutely that was an experience for us so um I was gonna so I was like I said you it's just like you have a like a really varied career um you know musical theater uh leading kind of a kind of a group um are you primarily working on on your own nowadays are you still kind

of dabbling in those things primary working um as a solo artist here what mainly what I do is uh go into different churches and work with their worship teams and choirs um I do occasionally do um theatrical stuff I have been featured in black nativity here at the number theater um and also at the guzzly theater one of the largest theaters here in the United States um so I do that occasionally musical theater but mainly what I do is um I lead worship at different churches and and work with different teams and do concerts here and there so um it's been a great experience cool and how would you describe for people that are that come out and and they're interested in hear you um how would you describe the type of music that you do well um I would say that my music um it's very eclectic I do a lot of traditional um things I also do a lot of jazz gospel or rock you'll hear a whole bunch of different um things um in my music but lyrically of course there are there talks about Jesus but you you can

hear some contemporary gospel you can hear some old hymns I have a hymn project that I that I uh released in 2006 so you'll hear something um from that project too so I would say you're going to hear a whole array of of of music and I believe from children on up to um your grandmother they would enjoy the concert that's coming up this Saturday awesome you and I'll tell you this I um uh I mean I like a lot of the a lot of the music that's out there today um but I can be floored by by an old hymn uh I grew up in like a you know in a in an old older Baptist church and uh yeah and and Tanya's great is thy faithfulness will do it I mean it'll it'll floor you it's it's excellent it is an excellent I think what hits it well go ahead no thank you I was just gonna say thank you for that compliment that's actually one of my uh faith uh my my favorite hymns and it was actually one of the hymns that probably ministered to me the most especially when I lost my husband in 2001 and just knowing that even through something that big that

God was still there he never left me he never forsaken me so that that hymn was very dear to me it is very dear to me and and so um yeah I'm I'm glad that you enjoyed it as well as I do so I did I did and you know I was I would just listen to the couple more God alone uh is also an excellent like it's um I I'm excited to see what the the live show I mean there's just some there's some funky stuff going on I like it yeah I don't know it's it's gonna be excellent I'm pretty excited for it well great I'm excited to be there I I can't wait to actually meet you guys in person and can't wait to really minister um to the crowd on Saturday so I'm excited to be in your hometown yeah should be it should be a ton of fun it sounds like the the the weather is is perhaps going to hold out might might be cloudy but not too hot so I mean I'm excited for it yeah that'd be all right it's been hot lately yeah oh man it's steamy um go ahead what's even hot Minnesota right I'm sorry it's even hot Minnesota it's

really hot here we just um I just ministered here um at an outdoor festival it's probably 95 degrees and I was out there for an hour but we made it through thank God oh man so so do you have a you know did you uh how do you nonchalantly wipe the sweat off your forehead when you're trying to sing out in the 95 degree you know what Saturday I didn't have anything I oh no I just didn't think I didn't think it was gonna be that hot so I was using my hand yeah yeah I've been there I'll be better prepared this coming weekend I preach I'm not I don't sing or anything but I've had times I'm not prepared it's hot and it's just and it's just running down your face and it's just embarrassing I think everybody's going dude would you just get something and it's nothing you can do you're just like okay just here wipe my forehead with my arm and yeah that's a little awkward yeah it just sounds like me last weekend so if if you're interested you can find more information about Tanya at

TanyaHughes.com it's also on on Facebook and and definitely so you have you have CDs for sale correct I do yep I do a couple of them CDs once again a hymn project which are probably familiar to most people great is our faithfulness is on that one and then my most recent one titled I'm Ready Now will be available as well awesome very cool that's gonna be cool I was gonna say earlier I think I think one of the things that makes the hymns so powerful sometimes now is at least every church is a little different like we just don't sing them you know I mean the last 20 years it's so rare for me to even hear a hymn and when I do especially when it's done well it's just like man it just gets you going so so I'm gonna have to get I'm gonna have to pick that one up I want that yeah and you know one of the things I one of the reasons I decided to record a hymn was for the very reason I felt like they they were almost becoming extinct like people didn't really know they didn't have that connection with with

what my mom you know and my grandmother used to sing and so I wanted for people to be able to to be able to minister that or be able to be ministered to through those songs that I grew up on because the message I think is so powerful yeah and and again kids love it people my age love it and then you have older saints who love it as well older people who love it so so I also noticed Tonya that you're up you're very involved in in some social outreach where you're at the the homeless and and most recently some tornado victims how did you get involved in that I have a friend who owned who started excuse me a homeless transitional center for women a couple of years ago and she started that with a family member and she branched out on her own out on her own and wanted to partner up with somebody who could really get her out there and a little little better in a different audience and so I decided to partner with her because I've always had a heart for people and always wanted to help and always wanted to be involved in the community community so I decided to partner

with her and introduce it to people that that who needed help and who who she didn't know and who could help partner with her as well and so that's kind of how that that started and then as far as the tornado victims I was really close to to where that hit matter of fact four blocks away and so that was really that was really close to home and so I felt like you know this is my community I'm really close to it I gotta I gotta do something and so my friends and I decided let's have a um a fundraiser to help our our neighbors to help our our community because we are supposed to be the hands and feet of Jesus and so seeing the devastation all around us we decided to get all artists that we knew in the twin cities together to donate their time we got together this time we raised over a hundred thousand dollars both in in-kind donations as well as well as monetary donations so I was proud that it turned out the way they did so that's cool we were able to help some families think about tornado is a long way to go but yeah I say it just keeps going

it's not like you one one shot in the arm and you can walk away I mean it's a lot of rebuilding and a lot of putting things back together and and not only physically but emotionally yeah from from situation like that so it's awesome when you see right and I find that you know a lot of people think oh I don't have the funds to do this or the funds to do that but people are just reaching out just for your time just to come and talk to them just for maybe a meal or or whatever it is so I would encourage people to do whatever you can do it may seem small to you but it could be big in someone else's life yeah you know and I think that's a that's a tough thing for folks I think you're right sometimes we see things that are so massive and we don't know where to start as opposed to just you know whatever you can do whenever you can do it you know whatever helps and sometimes we hear that I think people feel like it's like it's you know kind of placating a little bit you know oh you know whatever even the little things help but

it's true I think you know even making the gesture oftentimes is much bigger than I think people realize yeah absolutely absolutely so I am I had a young lady who was in need of she was displaced and they're all over the place her mom and dad are in a hotel and so we were able to kind of help her out by offering her shelter here so something as little as that could help a family so awesome I would encourage people to do that all right well Tony I really appreciate you taking your time out and we're sorry we kept you up but thank you for for sharing with us she's going to be Tanya Hughes is going to be at the the main stage on Saturday at 125 you can find more information about her at Tanya Hughes dot com and what we're very much looking forward to seeing and matter of fact we're going to be broadcasting there for for both Friday and Saturday so we love it if if you have some time either before after you said you could swing by and we could talk a little more I'd love to do that thank you so

much all right well thanks for joining us have a wonderful night and we'll and we'll see you on Saturday yep we'll see you we'll see you bye bye thanks Tanya all right she's yeah she seems to have a good heart for for ministry and and everything I mean all right so I want to do you have some music for her yeah hold on let me show you let me do a little bit of greats I faith much yeah I'll get you some here I could listen all day well I'm gonna try to turn up here I don't know what I've done I've done something oh no it was certainly working during the phone call there it is okay hold on let me get you just a little bit of a way in let her ride through the course she's got some pretty good pipes just let that thing ride throughout the show anyway that was a that was a Tanya Hughes I would I would definitely recommend you to go check out her website Tanya Hughes.com has a lot of her story there yep yep of course the music she's I read somewhere on there she's open for like Ray Charles and yeah

yeah some big names are we the Franklin yeah like she said that's what I was when I was reading I mean it's just so much that she's been involved with like it just sounds like a pretty a really interesting story and things that she's seen and done and been a part of and it sounds pretty neat let that thing slide I might have pick up that him album I wonder if I can play guitar for her I don't know what's giving this newfound confidence Dan that you're just gonna like jump in and go on the road with people I'm pretty sure I've got it hey yeah this is Dan Hudson where's our van where we going next everybody and by the way I only eat the blue M&M's all right I I'm not saying you're you're not someone to contend with Dan I'm just saying there's some pretty solid folks out there I don't think they're just gonna give it up easily guys think they will he's gonna say you know what Dan you take the place I'll go back to the I'll do your church preaching I'll go back to

washing dishes I'm gonna lay it down all right so uh boy boy lots of lots of cool bands I don't know where they get all these people I don't know I mean it's really kind of cool they're coming from all over yep well they're in that little network now right what's that little network now sure yeah they all know each other now so but still I mean it's just like I mean I think it's just really cool that these bands come you know it's not like they're the spotlight I mean they are for a few moments but but even then there's there's three stages I mean you know if I'm Joe band in Michigan you know and and I'm what Joe band Joe band I'm Joe band and if someone says hey come to Des Moines Iowa you know and I'm like well who am I up against you know all these other people it's just really cool they're coming yeah I would agree and it's expensive to get here I mean oh man yeah you think of their primary expense not only are they leaving you know friends family

whatever but like I mean yes it's not cheap it's not easy to get around they're oh you know they're taking some kind of giant van or trailer combination or something and they cover their expenses with the merch table usually that helps them but but when there's 50 other bands with a merch table that it's not as easy yeah it's not like you're gonna sell eight hundred dollars worth of CDs because the guy dude next to you is trying to sell eight hundred dollars exactly you know so and it's it's tough and it's a free festival I mean it's free you're getting in for free what is wrong with people why aren't they coming got to go out of it with well they are coming they are coming there's no doubt about it they're gonna be there and I'll tell you this there couldn't have been like some of the nicest people that I've been dealing with this week to like try to get this stuff set up I mean if you think about it you know both KJ and

Antonio are in Minnesota so there are time you know it's 11 o'clock at night 10 30 at night nobody flinched at the time they're like yeah you know come on they're musicians the musicians don't sleep I don't know like you know some of the band and some of the those dudes it a lot of those shows do start earlier than like what you know whatever I used to play in bands and and the shows would start at nine we'd be out of there by like one your average Christian show the venue doesn't necessarily support it till one although I'm really interested in this club three degrees that KJ was talking about I'd like to check that out Minneapolis right yeah yeah we're gonna okay road trip I'm on it we're also going to the is that an intern job I mean yeah we need that van back we got to get that van back well syndrome of fire will be in town we'll just take it we got keys they're making legitimate use out of it I think we gotta let them keep

rolling they're gonna be there they're they're headlining the hard rock stage on Saturday I bet you know we've we saw their live show back at the house of bricks a while back yeah but I mean it is and actually I also mean pants wouldn't check something out that they did downtown but I'm excited to go check them out I played guitar for them and they asked me to leave it really hurt my feelings poor guy Dan they just don't understand you they just looked at me like they don't understand you well enough there's a guitar sitting over there I think we should get a little it's out of tune you're just being modest we got 50 bands I don't want to show them up let's let's leave the spotlight for them yeah so anyway I mean like I mean all those folks to be the light switch who's in here is going to be on there man it's just I I'm now getting a little disappointed and don't take this the wrong way because I'm really excited for our broadcast but

like I'd like to go see these people we're gonna have to make sure we get some good footage oh you know if it if it goes down we just take the first couple hours you know look at that we're awful we seem to be missing a power cord well I guess we'll go watch the bands we're gonna sleep in the tent and take all the the benefits of being the broadcasting fellas at the show but otherwise we're we're ditching out oh we're gonna make press passes aren't we yeah oh we gotta get on that that's on my list it's like this week you do that Dan you got that okay what's it gonna look like I don't know shall I patterned after our need to breathe passes whatever you gotta do yes and okay so the picture has to have a little red man on it though see a white do the bathroom I can do it you can do it you do it okay we did a laminated we need lanyards all right okay on it we're in we're on we need to say life in the path on the

lanyards that'll be too too hard I'm not sure we turn around on the yeah yeah you know you can't weave them up at home I'll see what I can do get the weaving machine what do you call the weaving machine how sewing machine yeah listen I mean a weaver you know makes them okay listen to your chat nobody's gonna know that they're homemade they're gonna look high class Danielle's gonna knock it out of the park with it and you're not gonna say anything you see you're not gonna say anything you're gonna keep quiet there you keep it yourself you see otherwise it's gonna be trouble this is driving me nuts are you talking about a loom yes okay a weaving machine you know one of them fancy weaving machines bring me the weaver I must weave loom who comes up with the word loom do you ever get a word and just go who did that yeah yeah I like weaving machine I think pillow does that for me pillow seems like a funny word to me hello I remember I remember one day I

mean like 20 years ago I was like the word of first of all I couldn't think I how to spell it I'm like of simple words are going like who came up with that word in the first place stupidest word I haven't used it since we're talking OF right yes yeah but it's one of those mind blocks just going like I've done that before I never really stopped at the word of I can't think it's like a blockade what is it what for me oh this embargo is ridiculous oh mercy all right well I tell you I don't know should I bring my guitar yeah please do no doubt Danielle and I are bringing in checkers can I can I be the I want to be like the underwear guy from New York I was walking around my underwear oh you shouldn't do that at all you could charge a dollar for a picture you guys should charge a dollar for a picture here's the deal dad's gonna you're gonna have to turn in your pass and then you do whatever you want I'm afraid that I can't have you going undies and lanyards around the spirit Midwest

he's probably not he's probably on ebay I haven't seen Keith forever I've got I've got a gumball machine on ebay right now and you think Olson's after it yeah yeah there he is woohoo hey Olson what's up Olson chicken chicken chicken I'm gonna come in sorry that's one of my favorites what is that oh I'm not doing it that's fine you don't have to good I'm not okay I'll I'll post my uh let's see I'll get this up and I'll put it on survey can bid on it hey just so we're clear we do not have any legitimate material for the next half an hour most legitimate right like I like we had a lot of we had a lot of cool interviews I'm probably gonna stop the recording and uh we're gonna continue broadcasting illegitimate material okay hold on telemarketer okay I knew he was awake all right hold on and then if it gets too bad we could play rock paper scissors there you go there we go all right see is he calling back or is he gonna work at work home right now Jared Jared Jared

Jared Roy hello hey hey it's you're alive from the path hey how's it going Jared you're my hero doesn't sound like you what do you mean it doesn't sound it sounds it sounded different for a second hey can you play the guitar is this Jared Roy it is I've been smoking a lot of cigars lately oh okay you know what I knew that about him I actually I took him for a pipe man we need shirts quick oh okay no I mean quick I'll be there in 20 minutes in all serious Jared are you up and ready to roll like can you produce shirts well hopefully soon I'm actually I'm missing the film that I need there's my back order so I'm actually spelled out I get the film no see that's not good enough Jared we still love you man okay all right well I think we were just that we talking all these people that are coming to the festival we talked a lot of really cool bands and and they have some merchandise and we thought we should put something together but you know we didn't make any preparations or

anything for it so we thought we'd you know roust you out of whatever the thing you're doing at a quarter half to midnight and just see what you were up to whether you could produce shirts directly I've actually got it myself kind of do some stuff but I was a kid much easier anyway to print some stuff on the pad printing but do you have a do you have a special area set up in your place to do all this printing yeah I do my wife's kind of taking over half take over half the room with her scrapbooking stuff so I'm gonna have to win it back here pretty soon it's a battle of space it is gonna be a battle and I think I might my arm wrestling skills are up to the top let me ask this Jared have you ever Indian leg wrestled your own wife I'm trying to decide whether it's a good idea or not I just thought I'd ask you first I don't even know what that is you have yeah I'm gonna say the same thing I don't know that I know what that is is that where you like you lay on the

floor and like yeah and you throw somebody over yeah I played it that sounds really lame it's not it's a pretty good time I'm just saying I don't know like I thought of a few days ago and I thought who could I Indian leg wrestle and my wife was the closest person I thought well I don't really want to ask that I need to check and see whether that's gonna work or not I don't I wonder what you're seem unfair to it what would that reaction I always get that mixed up with the Indian rub so you know like the arm burn so here the question one of the big questions we had is is can you do lawn chairs and lanyards lawn chairs and lanyards I mean two separate things or beanbag chairs those are three specific items people are requesting I suppose I probably could the lawn chairs throws me and I like the tube like the you know like the old tube ones like the stretched belt stuff I think they need to be like the director chairs you know

and have your name on the back that's what I've been picturing but I know it's those I could totally do yeah a life in the past star yeah with our names last yeah Jared you're my hero Jared Troy Elginer has six hundred dollars he's willing to part with to buy whatever me and Dan and Daniel asked for I'm totally cool with it so if you could just open up a tab and we'll we'll randomly email you what we want and just feel free to bill Troy sounds good I'll have everything overnighted by tomorrow then all right sounds good I like that we'll see what happens Dan are you did you so so Olsen found your gumbo machine that is there that's it like 81 bucks I know what are you expecting it to go for you know if I get 65 I'm usually happy oh man that thing's really right you got 10 hours left I've sold one for 160 before really I haven't haven't sold any for a long time I haven't I have a warehouse full of these things you have a warehouse well

it's more like a budget storage garage but it's still nonetheless let's just say I have a lot of them it's a house of wares and if I would sell them I would actually have cash rather than paying someone to store them yeah I'm not a very good business person I know I'll buy these and I'll put them on a shelf and I'll pay someone I think I saw your place on storage wars the other day you probably you know I haven't paid them for like two months all right and this one we got like 47 gumball machines and as you can see like 13 grand or something like that it's crazy they'd make money off it man hundred bucks that sounds pretty good all right oh gumball machine well Jared I think that's all we needed really we just want to see what what was going on at your place can you put a logo on our gumball machines yep it's like stainless steel yeah just bring it to me I love this business of yours I love it Jared's an amenable guy Jared we could be friends

he's a guy to get in the cooots with we should hang out I can pretty much print anything on anything so I think you bring me towards head I can print it on that I was just about to say that too can you put the red guy on his forehead I will shave my head and you can just put the red guy on the back of my skull we can get Rick Rayner to do that in the last one I could totally do that yes I just I'm trying to think of the most tactful way to put this but like remember the red guy does look like the bathroom sign that's fine I would be careful as long as no one comes up behind me I'm just what I would be careful about an excited man that comes up anywhere near you it's just so convenient in the crowd it's like no man not what it's for I'm not going in a further deal I'm just saying be careful with yourself appreciate it all right Jared we'll let you back to your own business it's good talking with you

hey you too guys have a good night all right we gotta call Jared more often I don't know if he can set up shop at church like in between worship sets he can just make some shirts real quick and that'd be cool give it a nice vibe we need to have like a hashtag and in between services you can get shirts out of the lobby yeah except for we won't take your standard buddy you got to trade us in for temple bucks pathway bucks buy it from Jared or or spend five pathway bucks and become worshiper of them oh that's just scary these are all good ideas Dan let's just implement these directly you don't need a filter or a staff or anything you just I think I think we're holding you back I agree

just think how much more we can be doing I'm a bird I need to sweat my wings and fly let me soar all right we might have to cut this donkey show early we got 24 minutes all right anyway you're listening live from the path I had an overarching point oh we're gonna be on praise 940 this week all right the praise 940 show and that reminds me um because I don't say it enough because he has been very gracious donating his time for our show um JC Walker who is a um he's a real estate agent with with Iowa Realty um he normally has a show called moving Iowa you can catch it on 98 3 on wow FM on Saturdays it's somewhere I think it's in the 11 to 1 hour somewhere in there um but um uh he has been a very good uh benefactor of the show

um he donates his time for that show to us uh the first Sunday of every month on um on praise 940 I wonder if he's gotten any feedback from that you know I don't know I'm afraid to ask him yeah because then you then you then you'll remind him that we're doing it and then he'll be like oh yeah that's not doing anymore you guys aren't really doing much for me but anyway he's um he's a very cool guy uh actually worked with him when he um we sold our house and um and he was great to work with so uh just in general I just want to say thanks to JC Walker for doing that um thanks JC he just he offered out of nowhere he just said you know I'd like to uh I think there's a a spot for a show like yours and uh and I'd like to to offer you to donate the time so I you know I really appreciate him

doing that he you know it's not like we owe money or anything he just offered it for free out of the goodness of heart he's a wonderful man he's a good man yeah if you're trying to sell something you give him a buzz I would I would recommend him gumball machines yes he's in the market I have uh some random posters I need to sell like what I have a Star Wars poster why are you getting rid of it because it's old and crumpled and I'm eventually just gonna throw it away why did you treat it so poorly did we get moving because I have two of them oh I'm a hoarder you're doubled up I bought two on accident no I bought one and then bought another one on accident didn't realize it was the same poster dude I totally accidentally gave you $50 for this poster I already have now what do I do seven at Walmart long night was it how long ago did you buy that I don't know

Justin Bieber poster is that what it was dude if I got a J Beams poster I would throw that right up yeah I don't think you're ready for this jelly he would go up on my wall why isn't Justin Bieber at Spirit Midwest I he might be he might be this is not an official press release but Justin Bieber actually so a legitimate opportunity and I don't think we haven't confirmed this I'm not sure whether this is actually gonna happen or not but I think Michelle Bachman is but it's supposed to be at the festival and we might be able to snag her on life on the path to do a quick yeah we're gonna try yeah so I here's you don't know you don't ask her if she has no bakes if she would has no big cookies I think it's you think a person like that would be prepared right I mean they got to appease a bunch of people I would hope that they have some kind of bus with some no bake cookies on it with their logo or some F&O's yeah I

bet Jared could make shirts for her he could make a mint they could go national there you go see Jared's got it he we got to work this for him I want Jared to make me a shirt that says no bakes question mark that might be here's the problem is that might catch on in the pot crowd yeah for unintentional reasons it's not my fault it's not my problem your mind is crazy and then on the back just have a recipe so that no one gets confused this is gonna go well this is gonna go well I'm gonna have to make me so many shirts anyway he's gonna get all of his business from me I wonder if he'll charge you for each like screen and everything probably I mean it's part of the business actually so but here's here's my biggest concern is we I think we can flood a lot of a lot of stuff Jared's way we got to make sure he's charging appropriately he seems like a man that would you know yeah yeah yeah oh I can see you're a starving band I'll just go ahead and lose money on this that's

what I'm saying like we like here's the here's the deal we can flood money we can flood stuff towards Jared okay and then have him quote us a price and then add at least two bucks to whatever he said that'll be our cut two bucks per whatever don't give him one we keep 50 on commission okay I like yeah that's what we do I like it hey that would be a great idea I need a cookie cutter in the shape of the path guy that's an excellent idea we need no wait can you cookie cut no bakes well yeah I'm sure yeah do they do they fall apart I think I like your style you know we do whatever we want we're live from the path we're live from the path we'll do as we please that's not true all right well you're listening live from the path in all seriousness I think we're probably are going to get you out of here but you got anything going on Dan here here's my verse of the day I read this today I read it yesterday I've actually read it

before but I read it afresh let's hope so I refresh myself I read it afresh and I'm really rereading it and pondering this verse all day it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God what in what context is that verse being used what would you think can can you read that again for me it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God like well he's adjust I mean if you're God for a guy sitting I'm saying nation of Israel causing trouble being warned yeah yeah it's written it's written to Christians I mean my first thought is obviously written to the you know pagan people it's written to Christians the first part of the paragraph I mean this is like the sermon in two weeks so yeah here we go yeah if we go on sending deliberately after receiving the knowledge of truth there is no longer remains a sacrifice for sins but a fearful expectation of judgment and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries dude he's talking to Christians yeah that's

fierce that's intense that's very intense Hebrews is an intense book read it again for if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of truth this is Hebrews 10 26 okay there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins this is in the context of talking Jesus and the cross and you know we've accepted him everything but a fearful expectation of judgment and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries anyone who has been set aside anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses how much worse punishment do you think will be deserved by the one who has spurned the son of God and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified and has outraged the spirit of grace for we know him who said vengeance is mine I will repay again the Lord will judge his people it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God that's talking to the church boy yeah

but that wasn't the context of if you don't repent I thought you right this is the Christian who says whatever I'm gonna do what I want I'm gonna live my I've seen Jesus deliberately keep sinning so but yeah I'm just gonna keep going the way that I'm going that's crazy that's not okay I was gonna say it's not a Christ follower if you're deliberately someone who calls himself one yeah yeah yeah because I mean you can recognize it one of our bigger fallibilities is like recognizing the truth of Christ and saying you know I believe that but I mean if you continue to act in a fashion as if that isn't true or you think you're scamming the Lord yeah with your behavior Jesus words out once in a while people are weird like like you're gonna get the Lord on a technicality this is the Lord we're talking about here oh sure like like like the people Paul was talking to you on the you should we keep on saying you know by no means right like it's that come on yeah you know people

are goofy yeah and this is this is right after he says we have this confidence to enter the holy places by by the blood of Jesus by the new and living way that he opened through us the curtain that is through his flesh you know like this entering into the holy holies the presence of God through his forgiveness through his his grace all right let us draw near to him with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith of you know sprinkle clean from the evil conscience and their bodies are washed pure with water hold of the confession you know whole thing and then he goes into the oh by the way yeah yeah I mean well I mean that's that's the work out your salvation with fear and family I mean just recognize that that I mean it's not an easy boat and there is a there are consequences to taking it lightly there are consequences to denying truth by your actions if not by your words of your mind I mean you're you're you can become a serpent's tongue not because

what you're saying is wrong but because your actions make it a lie by the way that's the big distinction between a truth and a lie is really the actions that follow what you said because like you whatever it is that you say could end up being true or false based upon ultimately what you do afterwards right yeah yeah so I think I think the church is in danger in this generation or the past few generations in the last 300 years I could probably go that far when is wingly and stuff maybe 1600 so it's been a few hundred years of really making grace cheap you know and and I 've heard tons of sermons where it's you know it's it's I mean we're saved by grace and it's a gift and it's amazing and it's awesome and that that's the first part what Hebrews is talking about here but man we're responsible you know we we take it so lightly and it's almost encouraged I think in our churches I say whatever what's that oh I agree yeah yeah it's

just like I gotta forgive you whatever and and man he went to obedience then it's hard finding that spot where you're not living completely in fear of everything you do and then not taking it too lightly I think I've struggled with that forever yeah yeah being I mean yeah because it's not like he's waiting to zap you you know because oh you made a mistake or what you did something really stupid because we all do right you know we all have moments of weakness or whatever but this is this is the deliberate use the word deliberate we keep keep on sitting deliberately you know yeah full wide open eyes wide open mind fully engaged I know what's wrong I don't give a rip I'm doing it exactly what we're doing wrong yeah and we've all done that at times I'm talking about this appears to be like a pattern like it's a it's a this the life you chose it's like well I you it's it's it's a it's basically worshiping an incomplete God like you're not

recognizing the completeness of of what he's given you he's not Lord yeah yeah he's my king yeah yeah he's not your savior right no he is your savior king thing yeah he's just my he's just my priest he's just my mediator he's making on savior right like the whole premise is well we are he's still saving me but I'm not permitting him to rule over my life I'm just using him as a tool to be saved and we're okay with that I mean we're taught to be okay with that yeah and yeah I don't want to be like the the fire you know dude who's always like hell hell fire you know I mean that doesn't you know but at the same time we've lost it well and you know and that's one of it it's this seems like a weird thing to say right but like it's one of the fallibilities of of getting away from what was the sacrificial system I mean you screwed up you killed the thing I mean you you were the you had to take the thing up and watch it die and be a part of the

process of atonement for your own sin and I think as wonderful as a the gift of grace is sometimes we're too distanced from it you know I'm saying like which is sometimes like when you do a communion or something we say you want you to think of the of the of the crucifixion account and things like that it's because if you're too distanced from it you don't have the experience of of watching the impact of your sin and having to be a part of what that what that sacrifice was and so it just to people who aren't in the right mentality it cheapens grace because you you are not getting the full effect of what your punishment so should be what you deserve in repercussion for the thing that you've done yeah yeah it's almost like you should you know slide in the the passion of the Christ DVD every time you do something stupid or something but then I think how is that yeah it's like oh yeah oh yeah well thanks you know I don't know I I sit there

and ponder this stuff you know and I really like that verse like all of that that was thank you for reading that oh it yeah I've been reading it all day I appreciate it it kicks you in the butt it does it does Hebrews does a really good job oh I remember yeah my dad and then the youth group did the Hebrews study a couple years ago and wow it is I kid you not it was me and my dad sitting in our coffee in our kitchen table and I had Bible in front of me my laptop right here yeah I had a concordance right here and then him and I are melding minds together just thinking about this process this yeah and as you can imagine me and my dad both sitting at the same kitchen table just battling each other on an intellectual level got kind of deep all that was extremely intense it couldn't help it yeah probably one of the best best Bible studies I've ever done in my entire life so how we got into Hebrews this summer at pathway is I had a had a schedule up through the end of the

year and it was actually know usually in the summer I do some kind of light fluffy stuff not necessarily fluffy but you know funner talking about sheep and stuff sheep and and cotton candy and and you know stuff that if you're on vacation you miss a week you know it's no big deal or you know like I had a text last year we did text about the Bible I just think I had text to plan like ways to use the Bible so it's not really wimpy it was just you know yeah it was just different and in the in the last 24-7 prayer room we had I'm sitting in the holy holies in there that we had that set up and and where I was sitting in a little tiny enclosed curtained off area with with all the lights off and the music playing and I don't even know how I have no idea I don't even remember the process now but I left that one day going we're going through Hebrews just hit you I'm thinking I've never gone through Hebrews like on a Sunday morning you know in my life it's like I is really in the summer we're gonna go through Hebrews you

know I mean honestly I like that I've been home that's true it's a powerful book it really is I mean and we're we've really kind of just scratched the surface but it's a man well yeah that's the thing with it is there's just there's just so much I mean you you kind of have to pick some small spots and and really go to town because I mean even some of those chapters I mean you could spend five weeks on a single chapter of it absolutely it's a tough one yeah yeah that's good and it's kind of he keeps I mean he is he is pounding on the Jewish believers pounding on them yeah you know at which which in turn he's really kind of pounding on us with the well I don't get too much in the two weeks from now sermon but but you know is we think we have pressures and all this stuff and people are pulling us away it's like nothing compared to what they had I mean you know that was blasphemy yeah for a Jew to turn to Jesus I mean they killed Jesus for that you know and so there's a lot of pressure for them to turn and he

keeps going don't do it don't do it you know stay faithful keep doing it yep so anyway that's what I've been doing all right well you are listening to live from the path sorry yes you have been that was with Mike Mike Mike can say something right here Mike miss you well I thought you said Mike was skyping or something no no we could have skyped Mike in he might still be up well then he could have been here I know he's working on something whatever Mike error that explains why I got no text back from him I texted him at like eight and said hey do you care if I come into the show tonight I don't know what's going on no text back let's see hold on let's see if he's up lazy hey Mike yeah Mike you're on where in the world are you Mike where in the world is Mike foost

I'm painting a dining room oh man if I knew they were going to sing that Mike I wouldn't I wouldn't put it on the air there it's a real debacle I understand you can't control everybody what do you say you're painting a dining room yeah it's yellow it's very yellow does that remind you of flowers mustard Jesus Jesus school buses it makes food taste good you said there was a dining room is this how the whole show has gone no we actually had a pretty good hour and 20 minutes it's just taking a tank it wasn't nearly this good the last half an hour has kind of taken a we all started talking

capsized the boat hey but we did decide we'll have life in the path lanyards at midwest spirit midwest and director chairs yes with stars with stars so that's been productive who's buying the director chair Troy Jared well Troy's buying it Jared's designing it I guess I was told that I'm buying them yeah thanks Troy Ben and Dan told Jared that I've got 600 bucks that I'm just willing to hand down we thank you yeah well you'd otherwise waste it Troy let's be honest oh come on maybe like rent and

power water all that good stuff yeah all that sounds like a story on why you don't you don't want to buy these chairs what's your story on why you won't chip in at all uh don't ask me you want to chip in with me uh no I already heard you were covering so I spent some money whatever Mike thanks for texting me back your dining room walls are more important Troy your text did not require a response it was I'm gonna be at the show what do you want me to write back you're a good guy Troy thanks for showing up my friend no I was kind of expecting
