Segments
- Show open and camera banter 0:01–1:06
The host introduces himself as Ben and opens the show with its tagline, 'honest faith, fierce grace, donkeys.' The studio crew fiddles with the camera and the host tosses the show to Mike to 'entertain the people.'
- Tonight's lineup and a new segment name 1:11–3:11
The hosts lay out the show: an interview with the band We Are Leo, a round of Dear LFTP, a special Secular vs. Solomon, and a new modern-wisdom segment. They brainstorm names for the new segment, forgetting one option and settling on 'Good advice or think twice.'
- Phil Donahue and homesick-day television 3:11–4:36
Someone asks Dan to Google whether Phil Donahue is still alive, landing on a birth year of 1935. The group trades memories of daytime TV watched while home sick: Mr. Rogers, Wishbone, Judge Mathis, Joe Brown, and a restaurant called Judge Roy Bean.
- Chat praise and funny listener comments 4:36–6:40
The hosts read the live chat, including high praise for We Are Leo's new album and a friend's iTunes review comparing David's vocals to a unicorn jumping over rainbows. They joke over a YouTube comment ('my uncle's band') and a Facebook comment ('may God be with you to the end').
- We Are Leo: introductions and the band-name story 6:40–12:01
The band members introduce themselves: David Duffield, David Rosing, Andrew, Doug Weir, and Johnny Duffield. They explain the name Leo comes from the Latin word for lion, tied to Proverbs 28 ('the righteous are as bold as a lion'), and recount being forced to become 'We Are Leo' after a St. Louis band held the trademark.
- The new album: release party and the 18-month process 12:02–17:23
The band says their record came out last Tuesday and the CD release party drew six to eight churches in their hometown. They describe an 18-month recording process with producer Ben Kasica (formerly of Skillet) on Sky's Fall Records, including one song rewritten 40 times over two to three years.
- Where to hear the album and fan mix-ups 17:23–21:12
The band points listeners to a free song, 'Supernova Sunrise,' on their Facebook page and the full album on iTunes. One member tells the story of a fan who insisted their song was Owl City's 'Fireflies' and would not be convinced otherwise.
- Amusement parks and touring stories 21:13–24:00
Answering a chat question, the band says they opened for Skillet at Elitch's in Denver for about 4,500 people and played Six Flags Great America in Chicago, where they snuck onto roller coasters between sets. They joke that riding rides is biblically defended by 'not muzzling the ox.'
- The Chinese-Mexican wrestling restaurant 24:01–26:44
A bit about a failing hometown restaurant that cycled through Chinese ownership and is now a Mexican restaurant hosting a local professional wrestling league. The hosts riff on masked wrestlers hiding their identity from family and health inspectors.
- Impressions bit and studio banter 26:45–28:33
The band's Andrew, said to be good at impressions, is challenged to perform as a Filipino man complimenting a Mexican lady's wig, including her reply. The show takes a station break while someone eats a candy bar and removes his shirt.
- Station business: off Praise 940 28:33–30:23
The hosts announce they no longer broadcast on Praise 940, clarifying they were not booted: local real-estate agent JC Walker had been buying airtime there and simply stopped. They thank Walker and confirm the show still airs live Mondays 10 to midnight on livefromthepath.org.
- Dear LFTP: atheist dating a Christian 30:27–39:46
A listener writing under a pseudonym asks how she and 'Randy,' a Christian, can reconcile raising children when she is an atheist and he wants an 'ideal Christian family.' The hosts and band call it a violation of the 'do not be unequally yoked' principle, put the responsibility on Randy, and read Abby's matching advice to end it.
- Dear LFTP: jewelry from a former boyfriend 39:46–46:10
A listener asks the proper protocol for jewelry given by an ex: she no longer feels comfortable wearing it. The group debates selling it, giving it back, or resetting the stones, with special rules for engagement rings. Abby's advice: sell it or have the stones reset, or keep it as a souvenir if the attitude can change.
- Chat questions: 'best day ever' 46:11–54:15
From chat questions, each band member describes a perfect day: a hot-air balloon over the Great Wall of China, an Indian motorcycle down Route 66 with Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen, a beach acoustic session, a book with black coffee at Starbucks, and scuba diving the Great Barrier Reef. A host's answer, a throne-like chair suspended in an auditorium, draws mockery.
- Mid-show teasers and the new jingle 54:16–55:57
The hosts tease the coming Secular vs. Solomon and more album talk, then workshop an opening jingle for 'Good advice or think twice' with a smarmy jazz-singer delivery. They cue up a We Are Leo track for the break.
- Break: 'Live for Love' radio single 55:58–58:21
The hosts play We Are Leo's radio single 'Live for Love,' which they say is number 28 on Christian rock radio in America and peaked at number 7 in Australia. They note the new album is called 'Hello' and joke about the chart methodology.
- Accordion from Russia and the Burger King story 1:01:51–1:04:40
After the break, Johnny explains he was given an accordion in Murmansk, Russia, north of the Arctic Circle, and Novus knows how to play one. A host recounts meeting a homeless man at Burger King with a journeyman carpenter, painter, ex-Marine, and psychology-degree backstory, whom he later helped get a job.
- Second hour: lawnmowers, bedsheets, church bathrooms 1:04:40–1:09:22
Opening the second hour, a host explains he gets baseball-field lawn stripes by running his riding mower into a tree stump and bending a blade. The group shares the fitted-sheet tag trick, a dirty-knee bedtime mishap, and church bathroom signs, including one reading 'your journey ends here.'
- Gas station coupon story 1:09:23–1:11:56
A host tells of a gas-station clerk who refused his coupon for being 'too close to expiration' even though it had not expired. After a brief standoff he leaves, demotes the store from his 'B gas station' to 'C,' and vows never to return.
- Secular vs. Solomon game 1:11:58–1:30:58
The full game runs eight proverbs: the room guesses secular (with a country of origin) or Solomon. Results: an African proverb about testing water depth; Ecclesiastes 7:3; Ecclesiastes 10:1; a Danish pig-and-child proverb; an Italian egg-and-hen proverb; Proverbs 15:32; a secular 'every sin brings its punishment'; and Ecclesiastes 5:12 on the laborer's sweet sleep. Troy plays the home game from the studio couch.
- Punch-Out and video-game tangent 1:30:58–1:32:49
After the game outro, the hosts talk about Mike Tyson's Punch-Out for Nintendo, one host's Game Genie-assisted win, and arcade boxing games at Dave and Buster's. One member recalls his bachelor party there the day before Johnny's wedding.
- Show tagline and chat thanks 1:32:49–1:33:54
The hosts thank listeners and the chat, restating the show's identity: honest faith, fierce grace, and sometimes donkeys, for 'guys trying to stay on the path to Christ.' They tease the chat about unanswered questions.
- Touring talk: Life Flight Festival and pastor rejection emails 1:33:57–1:41:51
The band describes six back-to-back shows in four states and playing Life Flight Festival for over 100,000 people, where they met Francis Chan. The hosts read a mock rejection email from Chan and one from Perry Noble, joking that pastors politely decline the show.
- Good advice or think twice: 'Surround yourself with only people who lift you higher' 1:41:51–1:47:55
Launching the new segment, the hosts judge the quote 'Surround yourself with only people who are going to lift you higher' as think-twice: the word 'only' makes it selfish and opposite of Jesus' teaching, though 'bad company corrupts good morals' has a nugget of truth. They agree it is fine in context as long as you also give, not only take.
- 'There is only one success' (Christopher Morley) and Frank Lloyd Wright 1:47:55–1:50:43
The Morley quote about spending your life in your own way is judged think-twice: a Christ follower lays life down at Jesus' feet. The discussion detours into Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater-style houses and a proposal for 'romping reports' from the band's road trip.
- 'Lack in will' and 'choose joy' 1:50:43–1:56:12
The hosts call the 'difference between a successful person and others is a lack in will' good advice, with a caveat to bring weakness to Christ. The quote 'Joy does not simply happen to us; we have to choose joy' is also judged good advice, with a discussion distinguishing joy (fruit of the Spirit, independent of circumstances) from happiness.
- Creation and design testimony 1:56:15–1:57:20
A band member testifies that design in music and in the stars takes more faith to explain by accident than by a Creator, noting the Earth's distance from the sun. The hosts agree.
- Closing plugs and sign-off 1:57:20–1:58:30
The hosts wrap up, plug We Are Leo's album 'Hello' on iTunes and the band's Facebook and Twitter, and urge listeners to see them live. They sign off until next Monday night.

Full transcript
And you're listening to Life in the Past. My name is Ben Foose. Thanks for being with us here tonight. Go ahead, Mike. Entertain the people. I'm going to wet your color in. I'm going to wet your road. You see how I added the head bob in there? That's what sells it. That adds it. I called my friend Aretha, and I said, what do I need to do? I get no respect. She said, we'll do the head thing. I said, all right, I'll give it a shot. That sells it all the way. That's how it's gone down. All right. Honest faith, fierce grace, donkeys. You're listening to Life in the Past. We have a great show lined up for you tonight. We are Leo's in studio, live and rolling. Hey, fellas. What's up, guys? Hey. Say that again. I'm not in the camera. Where's the camera? Everybody do it. This is it. Hold on.
You're going to have to give it to him. You don't have a choice. I'm going to give it up. Oh, man. We look good together. All right. Hang on. Did you just say something about Rupert? That's the only thing I talk about around here. Are you at the ETC? You didn't spell that right. All right. ETC. I would refrain from doing things like that without practicing. So we'll be talking to We Are Leo. They've got a new record out. They're traveling the world. And we're going to hear more from them, see what's going on. We also got a ton of stuff going on. There's people that want advice, Mike. They say, live from the path, I'm in the straights, and I need help. Help me. There might be some Jesus content in Dear Life from the Path today. Okay. So we're going to do a round of Dear Life from the Path. We're going to do a special segment on a special secular versus Solomon. This is where we give you a proverb or a word of wisdom, and you tell me whether it is a secular word of wisdom or whether that comes from Solomon or Bible, generally speaking. Okay. So we'll do a secular versus Solomon. Also, along that same line, we're going to talk about modern words of wisdom, advice that you get from your inspirational folks, your life coaches, Oprah, things of that nature.
And we're going to see if we can pick out either. So I got two different names for the segment. All right. We're going to take a – you can take a quick vote as to which one is better. The first one is – oh, I've forgotten them already. Oh, this is fantastic. Wait a minute. I would refrain from naming things until you've practiced them. One was – is it good or is it gooder? No, no, no, no, no, no. It was – think about it. Good advice or think twice. That was it. Okay. That's catchy. That's like Donahue, right? And the other one – Donahue. He's dead. I'm fairly certain he's dead. No, is he? No, he's not dead. Phil Donahue is still alive. He might be. He's got about 90 or something, but – No, I think – isn't he up there? He's still alive. Dan, Google him. Find out. Ben, go ahead.
All right. The other one had Jesus in. I got to go off my Twitter. The other one was great because Jesus was in there. It had to name Jesus, isn't it? That's about it. No, it's gone completely. We're going to go – all right. We're going to go with good advice or think twice then because I can't think of the other one. It must not have been any good. Okay. So I'll give you the modern wisdom. We're going to discuss two things, right? The first one is, is it good advice or should you think twice on it? And if you're going to think twice about it, what would have to change about that modern word of wisdom for it to be something that is biblically consistent, something that we can follow biblically and live a prosperous biblical life? I dig it. Okay. That's what's going on. He's alive, by the way. Is he? How old is he? He was born in 35. He's got to be – what? That's 110. He's barely kicking. He's in a – 65, 76. I went to public school.
That's a first year. He'll be 76 in December. December 21st. Oh, man, who doesn't like Jesus born close to Christmas. That's got to be awful. How do you know he doesn't? Maybe that's why he doesn't like Jesus. Does it say that? He stole all the limelight. Oh, man. Did you ever hear his show? You're probably too young. Were you even born when his show was on? Yeah, I used to watch – Here's what I remember. I was – Prizes, right? I thought I was really young. Did you guys do that? So what did you watch, We Are Leo, when you were homesick from school, right? And you had to sit on the couch all day. What kind of shows were you forced to watch and secretly enjoy it? Mr. Rogers. And Wishbone. Anybody watch Wishbone? It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. That was a good show. Anything that was on public television, because we only had a Nantana. Okay. Okay.
I think that's fair. I can't get behind that Wishbone thing. George Springer. It would always be on. Like when you're homesick, there's nothing good on it. No, that's true. Here's the deal. They're dominated by judges in the afternoon. That's true. Judge Mathis. Roy Brown. Judge Mathis. Joe Brown. Yeah, Joe Brown. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That Wapner got a star of the other. Judge Roy Brown. What am I thinking of? Judge Roy Bean? Yes. Oh, yeah. There was a restaurant that used to be downtown called Judge Roy Bean. I thought you were thinking of old Roy, the dog food. I wasn't sure. All right. Anyway, you're listening to Life in the Path. Man, I tell you what. This chat's already dominating. The new We Are Leo album is the best album I've heard in a long time. Exclamation point.
Is that the truth? It's the truth. It's the truth. I can't argue with that. Which one of you guys wrote that? None of you? We didn't write that. Okay, fair enough. My friend Paul went on the… You know how you can comment on the iTunes? Yeah. Yeah. And he said, David's vocals are so good, it's like watching a unicorn jump over rainbows and all this amazing stuff. It's very etherical. It's actually true, though. I saw a unicorn jump over a rainbow once. I thought, damn it. And it sounds exactly like it. Just make you think of it. Is that biblical wisdom or is that just… No, that's a proverb. The unicorn is a pagan animal. Sorry, the one horn. Did you see this? He's halfway to Satan. Go ahead. Someone's better on our YouTube and one of the bands we had on. Someone left a comment that said, the comment was, my uncle's band. That was the comment.
Like, it wasn't a pro or against, or I like this tune, or my uncle's band is great. Or you should have practiced first. They just affirmed that, indeed, his uncle's band was on the show. Nice. This is, in fact, my uncle's band. Okay, basketball 1751, I guess if I ever see you, then we'll talk about it. What a self-affirming thing to say. This reminds me of a comment we got the other day on our Facebook. Somebody wrote, and I appreciate it very much, so thank you. But they wrote, we love you guys, may God be with you to the end. And I just thought, if there's any time that I want God with me, it would be the end. Hopefully he doesn't stop being with me at that point. Oh, right, right. I like this Jesus that bails. I'll be with you for a while. Oh, looks like times are rough. I'm out. You guys got some pretty mean stuff going here. In fact, there's a horse I'm supposed to be riding. I gotta go. He's got one horn. He's difficult. But it's always very beautiful. All right, so we are, Leo. Maybe quickly introduce yourselves, and then tell us a little bit about, first of all, the name of the band, because I understand it's gone through some iterations, and then maybe a little bit about the new album. Yeah, make it happen. What's up, everybody? I'm David Duffield, and I'm from Fort Morgan, Colorado.
I'm David Rosing, and I'm from Spring Grove, Illinois, from the cornfields. What's up, everybody? This is Andrew. I'm from Trenton, Michigan. Hey, guys. This is Doug Weir. I'm from Run Lake Heights, Illinois. I'm Johnny Duffield. They told me to keep two fingers between me and the mic, and I'm from Colorado. Is that your middle name? You know what? I like that guy. He says, he says, the man said two fingers. I'm doing two fingers. I love it. We don't get that kind of obedience right here. No, this is what we get. So, anyway, I don't demand four years. My voice is stronger than everybody else. Well, I can do this. And I'd plank on your table. Okay. All right. So, wait a minute. Hold on. You guys do that. What's the deal with that? Do you do that at all? What do you know about this? We do leisure diving.
Is that the same? Oh, man. That's cool. The leisure diving is cool. That takes skill, at least, I would think. Here's what goes to the leisure dive. You jump off the diving board, and so there's a pool there, but you've got to pose as if you didn't just jump off the diving board. So, you're doing it in midair. So, like, there's a guy that's sleeping on a pillow just before he falls, and he's fully clothed and everything. Exactly. I'll see if I can find it. I'm pretty sure that we've never done that. I think Doug's lying. But I want it to go there. We don't just want to be another band that planks. We want to leave the dive. We don't want to be another planking band. What is planking? I mean, I've heard about it, but, like, is it literally just laying on it? People lay straight somewhere, yeah. Yeah. And then people take a picture of it. Like, you plank from your counter to your stove. And then you have someone take a picture of it, and you've planked the counter stove. And then that's done. People plank on buildings. People planked on our show during the Spirit Midwest Music Festival. We were interviewing a band, and another guy planked on top of them.
And so we were doing an interview and a plank at the same time. Okay. All right. Hold on. So here's a guy. Yeah, you can't see that very well, can you? Hold on. Wow. Okay. So there's a guy. So he's in a full suit. He's just jumped off the board, and he's wearing a leisure suit. Does he have a cell phone? Hold on. Let's look for another one. Oh, here's a guy. Look at this guy in the basketball getup. He's cool. That looks like the same guy's house. No, I don't think that's the same guy. Yeah, it is. It's not the same dude. What's this? Hold on. That guy was cool. Go back. Look at that minute of it. Wedding dress. Okay, hold on. Wedding dress.
Okay, this is scary. Oh, my goodness. That's a little creepy, honestly. That was a mistake. That was a mistake. Ten to midnight. See what I saw. What do you get? You should practice this before you do it. I've made three mistakes in my life, and that's one of them. Clicking on that picture. Some guy goes, Santa, leisure dive. I should have stayed away from it. What a mistake. All right. So tell me about the name. Yeah. We started out as just Leo, and it means… Lion in Latin, and I like the name. I like the way it sounded. I like what it stood for. Just Proverbs 28, which is the righteous are as bold as a lion. And we had to change it because of copyright purposes. There's a band from St. Louis that had the name Leo, trademarked. Unfortunately, they broke up five years ago. And I spoke with the guys. They were cool about it. They didn't threaten us or anything or tell us to cease and desist. They just didn't want to sell it. They're like, you guys can use it or whatever.
We just don't want to sell it. So we thought, you know what? We want to avoid complications. So it was difficult changing it. It was like six months of like ten people. Like, what about this? No, that's stupid. What about… No. What about this? No, that's stupid. What were some of the alternatives? Lucky Leo. Yeah. Somebody said Lucky Leo. This went on for six months? What about that? Six months. That's stupid. Dang it. Six months. It was not fun. Were there any iterations that didn't have the word Leo in it? Will you stop using iterations? No one says that. Sorry. Outrageous. I'm sorry. That was the one thing that we all agreed that we had to have… Keep it.
We all agreed that we had to keep Leo. Oh, okay. The name Leo. Well, some people tried to change it. There was talk of changing it. So did you have any engagements, you know, gigs where you had to play in the meantime and you had no name? Because how were you introduced? No, we kept Leo even after we changed it. I mean, we still get introduced as Leo like about half the time. Gotcha. But, I mean, our lawyer said not to worry about it. It's not like we were writing… You're not a lawyer? I'm impressed already, man. Well, you guys are cool. I had no idea. Yeah. There's a manager and a lawyer. They got vehicles to get around. People are doing things. We have an accountant. You guys have a unicorn, though, so… It was a unicorn. Oh, right. And he only showed up when you guys got here. Now, listen. The word is ethereal. I said it. You said ethereal.
Well, when a thing is ethereal and it is within that context, it's now ethereal. It's like lyrical and lyrical. Exactly. You're not helping me out much here. I don't know if that came out right. Dang it. All right. I won't say it anymore. All right. All right. So, eventually, you ended up with We Are Leo. We Are Leo. Yeah. Okay. Very cool. Tell me about the new record. How long has it been out and what's been the response so far? Yeah. It was released last Tuesday. It's been out for six days. Oh, man. And, man, we've had great reviews on the internet and good response. We had our CD release party a week and a half ago in our hometown. It was awesome. I think there was probably six to eight churches that were represented that came out and supported. And it was awesome. Cool. So, we feel really pleased, blessed. Thank you, everybody, that reviewed our album and said such nice things. We've been really – it's – one of the things that I think has been really encouraging
to us is that most of the people who review it, we feel like they actually listen to it. You know what I mean? Like, the reviews they give are very, very right on. You know what I mean? Like, this song – Yeah, it really is good. You know what I mean? They say it's great, and it is great, and I'm like, they listen to this thing. That's exactly what we think. That's a theoretical if I've ever heard it. No, but I know what you're saying. Like, you can tell, like, the way they describe it, you can tell that they actually – This song moved me because of such and such. Or I really – you know, like, it feels like they actually gave it a listen and really, like, put good thought into it. And it's all been positive. Like, we've had very little negative response, which is huge because critics normally are looking for something to pick apart, you know? Yeah, sure. Yeah. So you had your release party. What do you – how do you plan a release party? I mean, if I'm trying to plan a release party, I – here it is. I mean, it must be something – I don't know. I'm just trying to imagine this party. I'm hoping you guys have hired someone else besides Dan for your release party. We got some balloons and some confetti. So far, here it is. Here it is. Do you like it?
I assume the reviews will be great. I mean, I've never been to one. No, no, that's a good question. Yeah, thank you, Mike. I'm slightly diverted because the guy in the chat – do you guys know Schultze 11? Any ideas? Does that came up with mine? Do they say they say We Are Leo to the same thing as the We Are Farmers commercial? That's funny. We are Leo. Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba. That gives me a tickle in the belly. I enjoy it. All right, sorry. You were answering a legitimate question. I was only mildly distracted. What do you do to release party? Release party. Make it happen. Well, it's kind of a theoretical, really. No, I was like, well, what can we do to make it a party? We have unicorns. Cheetos. I thought about making cookies, but I didn't get around to it. We could lose your dog. I mean, is there like a big unveiling? Is there like a big blow up? I was chewing my fingernails. I forgot to cover it. I'm sorry.
Do you play the music live? You know what? It was just pretty much a show with all of our best friends there. And it was like, hey, we've been working for 18 months on this record. And we're done. And these are all the people that, you know, everybody that was involved was there. And we said thank you. And we all we took time to worship together and play all the new songs. And it was fun. It was it was definitely a dance party, if nothing else. But it was good. It was good to have our church family there. Oh, yeah. I feel really supported in the community. And even the pastors are one of our pastors, a little short guy from the Isle of Man, which is part of the U.K. And so he's British. And he was saying like how he just came for support. He didn't think he'd like it. He just came to be supportive. I love these guys. You're starting yourself with some honest dudes. Tell him not to write on iTunes. Yeah. And but then he's like, but I actually loved it. I'm going to go home and like close the windows and dance around my house. He could have left that part out. Yeah. It is. It is got some get up and go.
So 18 months. That seems like a long time to be cutting a record. How did it? What happened? Couldn't find a name. What happened in there? Don't explain yourself. The name each song. We have a lot of people who are really committed to. And by a lot of people, I mean, I don't know, a couple of producers and all the people at the record label at Sky's Fall and David and I that are committed to releasing nothing better, nothing least, nothing less than the best. I can't talk. It's easy for you to say. Somebody came and told us that. We said, you got the wrong guys. You hired the wrong people. So if there was one word that wasn't good as far as like a lyric or something, if there was a single word, we'd spend as much time as we had to to fix it. So we, I mean, it was eight songs, but we literally like, when we went into the record, Ben Casca, who's the formerly of Skillet, he told us, this record's done when it's good. Like, we're going to keep working until it's amazing. So one song I did 40 rewrites. 4-0. Wow. On one of the songs. Over like two or three years on one song. That's a lot. That explains why we've not had a release party. I know.
It's one and done. But I mean, ship it. Well, actually, I mean, from a guy, from a public point of view, right? If I'm going to buy music, if I'm plopping down my whatever, 10, 15, 20 bucks, whatever it is, right? Then I'm putting my money into something that you've put some time in and that you're saying, look, I didn't send you my second take. I sent you the best take, even if it took 50 to do it. So, I mean, that seems like a long time. But I mean, I would appreciate it as a guy that picked up the CD that, you know, I got some fine stuff. I agree. Now, do you have any cuts from the album on the net anywhere where people can go and check it out? Yeah, we just released a free song on Tweet for a track. So you can get Supernova Sunrise for free off our Facebook. Okay. And Facebook is? Just WeAreLeo. Just type it in. You should be able to find it. And then everything's on iTunes as well. We like that, right? Live from the Path likes that? Yeah, yeah. If you need help finding it, if you go to the Live from the Path Facebook, if you're friends with us, or if you like our page, in our list of likes, you can find WeAreLeo. They're connected right to it. And you can check that out. And me.
I'm in there. And we like you. You guys like us? Did you guys? Oh, yeah. I was quick. I liked you. If anybody acts like they even have heard of the show, we like it. You're now our new best buddies. Because we like to find people that are great and then just kind of follow behind them. Yeah. Like, hey, we know those guys. That's actually pretty much the theme of the Live from the Path program is find cool people, bring them in, and then kind of parasite yourself onto them. So, yeah. People assume we're cool. Self-promotion. Our entire career is based on you. Actually, you better pick it up. We're trying. Yeah. Actually, it's very true. So, like, our YouTube, I don't know, it's like 56,000, 7,000 hits. Something like that. Like, it seems pretty impressive to me. Half of them are just Anderson. Because she decided, like, I was lonely on some night and decided just her and her husband swung by and, like, did a couple songs and we posted those. And people really dig on her. We're not driving traffic.
No. But that's the majority of our hits. It's just someone rocks, you attach to them, and then they like you by proximity. Exactly. Yeah. So, yeah. Mike's right. We're really leaning on you, fellas. You better really pull it out. All right. So, do you have a favorite track? I don't want to hear this all of them business. We're all great. Oh, they're all so great. I really like Party in the USA. Why are you laughing? You don't even know what you're laughing at. You're just laughing because they're laughing. Ah, Party in the USA. Ah. Ah, those guys. Miley Cyrus. Yeah. I have daughters. That's worse. No, this is actually a funny story. Do you mind if I tell it before I answer the question? Is there profanity in it? No. Oh, you're probably all right.
We got a two-hour show. Go ahead. Okay. So, we're playing this show in Colorado, and this girl comes up to us afterwards, and she says, you guys are so awesome. You're one of my favorite bands. And we said, oh, thank you very much. You know, we appreciate that. And she says, I listen to you guys on the radio all the time. And thank God we're on the radio now, and we're doing good. But this was like a year ago, and we were definitely not on, well, maybe some indie station in Cleveland or something. But as far as on the radio, we're not on the radio. We're like, so we're like, we're not on the radio. She's like, yes, you are. And we're like, really? What song? And she's like, Fireflies, which obviously is Owl City. And so we just look at, no, no, that's not us. That's Owl City. And she wouldn't believe us. Nope, that's you guys. Bye, bye, bye, CD. Go ahead. Can't pull one over on me. She wouldn't stop, and it was the weirdest thing. She wouldn't stop it. You would think if you told somebody, that's not us, they would, no, that's you. That is you. Everybody's trying that all the time, right?
Like, you're Patrick Swayze. No, I'm not. Yes, you are. I know Patrick Swayze. You're Patrick. I am not, sir. And it goes on for days. Dougie, what did that say, baby? It's a message to his. Is it to a lady friend? Yeah, it's my fiance. I told you we were going to have problems with him. The guy in the construction worker's head. He's going to give us the business. Right. Do you want to say something? We can all be quiet if you want to say something sweet. Go ahead. I already said it. Okay. Oh. Hey, the chat wants to know what amusement park you had a show at. Do you have a roller coaster in the back of one of your pictures? Yeah. Uh, wow. Could be one of a couple. We played it, too. We got to open for Skillet. We won this contest through Indie Community. So, we got to open for Skillet in Denver at Elitch's.
Yeah, Elitch Gardens, which was awesome. It was like four and a half thousand people that were sold out. It was crazy. Nice. And then Great America in Chicago. And I think there's probably some pictures of us at Knott's Berry Farm, even though we didn't play there. But we did go there. We did go there. And then took your picture there. They got some pictures of us at Woodstock. We played at this camp. They had 60 people at the camp. It was a Christian camp. All we had to do was lead worship. And they didn't even have a sound system, so we just led campfire songs. Oh. Like acoustically? Yeah. Acoustic? They paid us to go all the way to California. Acoustically. What happened? Are we going to brawl? He's getting upset. I'm telling you, acoustic. All right, dude. If you don't want to play, don't play. Everything will be fine. Holy cats.
Things are getting out of hand. All right, Ben, tone this down. Get it back into normal, will you? You've been to the life of the bad. Okay, so amusement park. So talk to me about this amusement park. All right. Every time we play at Great America, they say, please don't ride the roller coasters. You're here to play. What? And I regret to inform you that I did sneak out between sets and ride a few roller coasters. Wait, seriously, though? Like, you go out there and you… Because, I mean, your show is not however long the park is open. No. And, like, after or before, you're not allowed to go, like, ride the rides and stuff? Yeah. That's not biblical wisdom. It's not? What is with it? Yeah, it's up to that. There's something about not muzzling an ox. An ox, like, yeah, like, dreading the grain, whatever. Yeah. I think the message uses the term roller coaster. That's directly applicable. That's awesome. We're leading people straight to Jesus. Thanks, fellas. Go to witnessing.com.
There's you two guys. That's theft, though. That's borderline theft. If you're inside an amusement park, you should be able to partake in it. Amen, brother. What do you want me to do? I don't run the place. What are you looking for? Wait, are the other amusement parks more amenable? Or are they all like that? Helich's was pretty cool. Yeah, they were cool. What is it? Is this some kind of Russian outfit? It used to be a Six Flags. Well, actually, it used to be, like, a little tiny, like, the ones that people die on the roller coasters, you know? Oh, sure. In the 50s. I think the mouse. What? The little mouse one. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But then it was bought out by Six Flags, and then it was bought out by somebody else. Yeah. I don't think I'd go to an amusement park that's constantly being sold like that terrible Chinese restaurant that keeps being owned by 50 different people. Yeah, here's the deal. So, if you have to put under new management at the top, like, the place is so bad, the only redeeming quality of it that somebody else is now working there, that's a problem.
That's the last thing I'd put on my side. There's this restaurant exactly like that in our hometown, and it changed hands, like, three times as a Chinese restaurant. And now it's a Mexican restaurant. And I was just, I was in my favorite coffee shop, and you know, they have the bulletin board, and there's this giant poster for, um, it's, it's, uh, the Kenosha. It's like 100,000 people in our town. It's a small town. And it's their professional wrestling league. We, the town has their own profession. They wrestle at the restaurant? Yes, at the new restaurant. Black hole of business. I don't know why they're not having a problem. Here's getting people to know. Here's, here's what I'm going to tell you. If someone says, Ben, there's a new restaurant in town. It's a Mexican restaurant, Chinese chefs in the back, professional wrestling going on. I'm so there. Under the protest of my wife, I'm going. It's like, you watch the kids tonight, baby. Papa's going out. This man's painting the town. Oh, man. I'd like, it'd be interesting. Like, are they masked? Or is it like, like Greco-Roman? One of them was. Oh, man. Here's, here's the thing.
He's probably the owner. He doesn't want people to know. Or the health inspector. I slightly sympathize with that. Because, think of this. We, we run a late night internet Christian radio program in the middle of Johnston, Iowa, right? There's very few minorities that could still fit into the category and still make us legitimate. Yes, correct. So, getting my wife to buy in that this is a legitimate program is, at times, difficult. I would like you to stay home. No, no, no. There's, there's 20 people on it. And, and people like Jesse Anderson. So, all right. So, but, but think of this guy. The guy that's wrestling at the, the Chinese Mexican restaurant. And, and he's getting, he's putting his mask on. He's saying, all right, baby, I'll be back in an hour. No, I think you should say, no, no. The show doesn't go on without the Intimidator. What do you want? Number seven? Number seven? I'll get it. I'll get it. If, unless I lose. Hey, man. I got round one with the flying burrito. There's, this is going to go down. Papa one.
Papa one, Papa two. It is true. I am a wrestler. I don't care for family. That sounds like you work from the Ilyiches. What was it? Ilyiches. Ilyiches? How is it spelled? E-I-L-I-T-E. Oh, never mind. I was thinking like I-L-L, like Y-C-H-S, like a, like a Russian. Ilyiches. Yeah. Yeah. It's delicious. He does a way better impression of stuff than we do. Yeah. I mean. Okay. Do, do a Russian guy that's trying to order a Mountain Dew. Hello, can I have a mountain? No. He doesn't know how to do a Russian guy. Do you do a Russian? No, but I've been to Russia. I used to speak Russian. But you can't do an accent? Здравствуйте. Меня зовут John.
Okay. That's not bad. Yeah. Okay. I'll buy that one. Do you do any other impressions? They're not very impressed with that Russian one. Do you do impressions? Andrew is really good at them. Andrew, do an impression. That's too much. Hold on. Hold on. Let me just… In stereo. Let me… Yeah, I'm going to pan it left, right so I get in full effect. What kind of impression are we going for? Do you have options? You do what you do best. How many do you do? Well… Mexican really well. Filipino. Vietnamese. Okay. I don't even know if it's actually Vietnamese. Here's what we're going to do. We're going to make the most out of your talents. You're going to be a Filipino fella trying to pick up a Mexican lady by commenting on how
nice her wig is. Go. Excuse me. You're… I could not help but notice that your hair is so beautiful. It is… It is unlike anything I've ever seen on a real human being. I think it is from a horse, but I love horses. What's the lady's response? Huh? You have to do the response from the lady. You're the lady as well. Oh, the Mexican lady's response? Yeah, yeah. I don't know, guys. That's very specific. Hey, that was pretty good. It was pretty good. It was solid. Yeah. All right. You are listening to the Life from the Path. We are in studio. We are Leo. By the way, we broadcast every Monday night from 10 to midnight here on livefromthepath.org. Also, if you check out the front page of the website, you can sign up for the podcast. Get the audio archives as well as the video archives. Did you bring food in here? Sorry. Was that wrong?
Yeah. Was I not supposed to do that? So far, you've taken off your shirt and eaten a candy bar. Make yourself at home. Welcome to Mr. Duffell's living room. We'll be broadcasting for an hour and a half. Does anyone else have a taste for Mexican or Chinese like I do? Yeah, I kind of do. Is there any restaurants open around here? I don't know. Nah, never mind. I always bring my own candy bar. All right. Oh, that's true. We had popcorn last week. JC's on it. We were eating popcorn in the studio last week. Quite blatantly, I might add. I almost brought some. I have Mike and I. Are they still good? I ate most of the eggs. I'll just lift his mic. All right. Anyway, you're listening live from the path. By the way, in case you're wondering, we are no longer broadcasting on Praise 940. In case you were. We've got lots of letters on that. Did you know that? No, no.
Did we get booted? No. No, so again, so JC Walker, he's a local real estate agent, and he is also, he's kind of in the radio business, and he was buying time on Praise 940, and carrying our show was part of that. And once a month, we could put a collection together, and he donated his time to us, and he just stopped using that station. So anyway. So we didn't get physically booted out or not? No, no, no, no. Although it did occur to me that perhaps our show was so terrible that they booted him. Like, only one week out of four, and it was still so bad. That'd be awkward. He didn't say that, but he's a nice guy. I'm not sure that he would. So anyway, big thanks to JC Walker. He was kind of… Big thanks for taking the fall for life in the past. Yeah, his career and livelihood has suffered for his indulgence. But he's a good man. All right, Mike, advice. People looking for advice? Oh, yeah. Hold on. People got questions for the band on the chat? Yeah, okay, yeah. Go ahead. Go ahead with the question for the band. Sorry, there's a slight delay. You have to be ready for the question when we're ready.
You ready? Yes. I'm ready for it. And go. Mike, let me ask you a question. Okay, go ahead. Wait. Go, go, go. Oh, I missed some. Oh, man. All right, I'm going to look through it. Mike, go ahead with the advice. All right. Okay. Dear Life from the Past, I have been seeing Randy, quotation, it's not his real name, for more than a year. We get along great. He makes me laugh, and I can envision us sharing the rest of our lives together. I am an atheist, and Randy is a Christian. I don't mind his family's views, and I have no problem with religion as long as it isn't being forced on me. However, think about a future with Randy. Randy, I wouldn't want his family's religious views forced on my children either. I want them to make their own choices when they're old enough to understand. Randy wants, quotes, ideal Christian family, where he raises his children on his terms and with his religious views. I don't feel children should be forced into something from birth. Again, I have no problem with Randy's or his family's beliefs. I just don't want them impressed on my children's young minds. What can we do? What do you do to help old, uh, what was this, hold on, what was this gal's name? She just talked about Randy.
She didn't give her name. We'll call her, uh, Delilah. Not Randy. Susie. All right. She sounds like a Delilah to me. Uh, we are, Leo. Any, uh, any advice? Susie. Is Susie married to Randy? She's dating Randy. I would say, yeah, I don't know how much I want to get into that. You're the worst advice call of this ever. I don't know. That's kind of personal. I would say. They're writing us asking for help and you're going, ah, that sounds like a real mess. You got to be done with that. Like you guys are meant for each other. If you. He says, that's it. This ain't going to work. Cut it out. They're going to happen. I think like spirituality is a very large. I mean, no matter what you believe, whether it's atheist or Christian or anything, I think that spirituality is such a huge part of who we are as humans that to not be able to share that with somebody. I mean, even what she was saying about raising kids. I feel like you want to be able to like she has specific views on how she wants to raise
her kids and he has specific views on how he wants to raise his kids. And and that's a huge thing. I mean, how you want to raise your kids is is a huge part of your life. And it's an important thing. And I think that if you can't share that, then that's not necessarily something to take lightly. Jumping into marriage like that would I in my mind, at least, that would not be something to take lightly. I think that spirituality and how you raise your kids and how you live your life is such a huge thing that I would really think twice before. Yeah, it'd be something to get worked out, I think, before before you get married. Yeah. I think Randy's dropped the ball here, frankly. I think this is Randy's problem because Randy knows better than this. You know what I'm saying? Randy should know a lot better than this. It should be it's his responsibility to to bring this lady on. And and if he loves her, get her to know Jesus. And if she's not if she's not willing to make that step, then Randy's he's dating where he shouldn't be dating and he should know better. That's a direct violation of the do not be unequally yoked scripture. I mean, that same area is the partnership. Yeah. What's that? Pretty close. All right. Go ahead. Pretty close. But yeah, like like I like I wish all the best for the lady. But I think this comes down to Randy and I don't think he's he's holding up his mainly
his mainly part of the job. His job is how does she describe him as a Christian is kind of a generic word. I mean, he's I'd say he's not a Christ follower. He wouldn't be this deep in the relationship for this long. He's not following Jesus. That's for sure, because there's no way those those those are two totally so far apart world views. There's no way they could get along. They could get along in a, you know, right. And I love you. God loves us all kind of way. But but not in a deep, but not look, my God is is the basis of my faith and how I live my life. And then she says, your God doesn't even exist or at all. So you're a fool. That's the thing. How could an atheist date a guy who loves Jesus and not think and not and have any respect for him? Yeah, I'm saying like, how could someone who thinks that God doesn't exist and that Christians are generally idiots, you know, have any respect as a wife, husband relationship or a father relationship when you think he's an idiot. So he's not really a committed Christ follower and she's not really a committed atheist. They're both kind of I'm going to say they're pretty wishy washy in their views. That's that seems like an opening for Randy or he needs to do his job. I mean, he could just be being weak in this deal. Like, I mean, he he's being dominated in a relationship in which he like he's not being even if it were a legitimate relationship that you could do something with. He's certainly not leading, which is his responsibility to do. Right. And so so the biggest fall fall fall fall fallacy here is the thought that you can section
off devoting your life to Christ as just something that you can agree or disagree on as part of your relationship. Oh, do we like do we like Chinese Mexican food together? Do we go to the Chinese Mexican wrestling extravaganza? We both agree. Do we like to vacation in Colorado? Oh, yeah. Do we follow Christ with all our hearts or don't we? Right. Right. I would like to say that I think that the strongest thing with me and my wife, Kendra, is our faith together. So, you know, I think it's something that that everybody should look at and see where they are with their faith, because it is going to be something that can be a huge strength in your relationship if you're on the same page. Right. The only time I've ever in in premarital counseling, you know, I do lots of weddings. I did one yesterday. And the only one time that I've really told a couple before marriage say, man, you guys, really shouldn't be together. And that was with an obvious believer and an obvious nonbeliever. And they were so apart. They liked the same movies. They like, you know, a lot of stuff they like. But when it came to faith, they were so apart. This was will not work. And they actually ended up not getting married. Based on your advice, Dan? I have no idea. They never told me.
I just realized the wedding came and left. And they never told me they weren't having it. Well, you don't think they had someone else married? I called them. I said, so, or it was this wedding coming on? Oh, no, we broke up. Thanks for letting me know. But, you know. Well, you're not the first guy on the list. Remember that guy that broke up our marriage? Let's call him and tell him that. Well, he's all right. And I think, you know, what people need to realize is, like, at first glance, it may come off as harsh. You know, say, look, you guys, you know. Different worlds. You can't work through this. You need to not go forward. But, like, that isn't just a, where are you at with Christ? Even from a more worldly perspective, that marriage is going to be problematic. It'll be huge. Exactly. You're going to have trouble simply for the fact that there was someone who was living their life with one worldview and someone who was not living that life in that same worldview. And that's not going to be a good marriage, regardless of whether you think you are being supportive of someone's belief or non-belief. I mean, you're just asking for trouble. Whether you can put it off for a month, a year, five years, you're going to run into that problem.
And this is more of a lesson for Christians. You know what I'm saying? Like, if you know and love Jesus, you should know better than to try to pull this off. Because you're trying to sneak it past God, and that's not the way to do it. Now, people who don't know Jesus are going to make these mistakes. You know what I'm saying? Because they don't know any better. They don't know how serious it is. And that's different. That is not the same. You know what I'm saying? That is not the same situation. Because if you don't know Jesus, then you can't be held accountable for knowing better. But people who know Christ should know better than them. It's just not going to apply. Because look at it from the non-believer's point of view. If they don't get it, if someone's genuinely a Christ follower, they just look at them as, oh, yeah, they're religious. You know, I don't want them to push religion on my kids or whatever. But they don't get it. If you're truly connected with Jesus, I mean, it's a life. It's not just this thing you do on Sunday. I mean, it genuinely is part of your every thought. I mean, sure, you do dumb things and make mistakes. But I'm saying it's part of who you are. And it's hard for someone who doesn't get that to identify with that. So it's just not good for either party. Well, I don't know. I would always be cautious in a relationship where they said, your potential children, there is something about me that they want to protect those children from.
Doesn't that sound like a bad idea? You should be marrying a spouse that says, I want my kids to grow up like this person. Like, if you're marrying a guy, you should say, I want my sons to be like that man. Or if you have a wife, you say, I want to raise daughters that are like this woman. These are the qualities that I want, you know. It just makes good common sense. So anyway, okay. So what was Abby's advice? Oh, dang it. I always pass it getting ready for the next question. Just a second. I've already missed it. My next one's about jewelry. It's fantastic. Did you ever get that question from the chat, by the way? Yes. So after the next advice, we'll get it. Okay. Okay. Abby's was, dear mind of your own, you can part friends and agree to disagree. If Randy wants an ideal Christian family in which he raises his children on his terms and with his religious beliefs, there will be no compromise. And if you are adamant that your children choose their own beliefs when they're old enough to understand, you and they will be better off if the father you choose for them has similar beliefs. Solid. Very solid. That's not so bad. Agree with Abby. All right.
Okay. Here we go. This one is about jewelry. And it's a question of a social protocol. Okay. Which I find interesting. So. It'll be good. I have so much anticipation for this question. Where'd it go? Let's come on. I'm really excited. A quick shout out for Adam from Great Lakes. Really quick. He just texted me and said, hey, Douglas. What up, Adam? He looks so much like Jack Black. It's awesome. Yes. In fact, I called him. And he took us out to B-dubs once. I called him Jack for like. Parmesan guard. Can he come on the show? Yeah, he can. But he's in Michigan right now. Well, he's going to have a long way to drive. How long is it going to take him? Next. Until next Monday?
Uh, no. It'll probably take him. So, like six to Chicago. And another. It's going to take him like 11 plus. He's going to lose an hour. Gain an hour? He's going to need to leave on Sunday morning. To make it here on time. Anyway. We'll prepare a seat. I love you, Adam. Thanks for the wings. Here live from the path. What is the proper protocol regarding jewelry that was given by a former boyfriend? Uh-oh. I have a few lovely items. Oh, snap. But I no longer feel comfortable wearing them. I'm at a loss and hate to leave them sitting in my jewelry box forever. What do I do? eBay. Sell them? You got to sell them? You can't give them back to the guy? Cash for gold. Thanks, dude. What is it? The views and opinions of Leo are not necessarily those of Skysfall Records and their affiliates. Check out this economy that we're in.
I like the economic impact. Come on. You know what? We're broke. Cash out. Get some gold. Let's just. I'd say this. If I was a girl, which I'm not. Thanks for clarifying. For the record. And I had the jewelry and he gave it to me, I'd probably, I might text him and be like, do you want this back? But I would probably try to get some money out of it personally. If she doesn't want it. Yeah. I would agree. If she doesn't want to wear it anymore. I mean, he gave it away. It's a gift. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Unless it's an engagement ring. Then I think the protocol is to give it back. Well, it depends who broke off the engagement ring. That's true. What if he gave her a necklace that said, unless we ever part? And it was like a half of a heart on it. That's why you mouth it down.
Cash for gold, baby. Here's the question. Who broke off the relationship? I've never given you guys jewelry ever. This is an important fact. No, it does not say who put the… I think that's the deciding factor. Whoever broke it off. If he broke it off, then I say that she can do whatever he wants to. That's kind of spiteful, isn't it? Why should it change based on who did it? I'm saying a gift's a gift. You give a gift. I'm sorry. I mean, if you thought things were going to go south, don't give out expensive jewelry. Right. I mean, be committed. Well, just for the record, I've had, unfortunately, a few past girlfriends that it didn't work out with. And I did give them some jewelry. And you guys can sell it or whatever you like. So, go crazy. Be blessed. Oh, finally. I'm free. Get your 15 bucks back. Okay, that's what I'm talking about. We're not talking about the Titanic here, the big whatever jewel that was. What is it? What is it? The jewel of…
It was a blue something. Jewel of blue jewel. I'm not sure. Let's call it the blue sapphire. You want to hear what Abby said? Wait, I guess were there any other thoughts? Anybody says give it back? It's theft. Mail it to them? It's theft. Here's the question. If she gave you something valuable, would you give it back? If it was a TV, no. If it was Billy Joel's greatest hits, sure. She can have it. After I burned a copy. I think it's… Speaking from personal experience, I've given some jewelry out to somebody. And I think when we broke up, no, I think I said throw it away because I didn't want it. So if she sold it, I wouldn't be too. I mean, you wouldn't want to be reminded of the lady that dropped you, would you? Well, I could sell it. Would you give it to somebody else? That's cheap. No. No way. That's messed up. How would she know? You can't re-gift jewelry. Go re-gifting.
Why? How would they know? Because whenever they find out, you're dead. Whatever. Quit carrying around the baggage. You broke it off. It's done. I'd give it away. Give it to a fine lady. I'd give it to a homeless man. In fact, I would start calling all your old girlfriends, collect all the jewelry, and say, look, I made a mistake. You weren't the one. Give me my stuff back. And then I would give it to the lady of my life and say, hey, man, it's a little late, but here it is. Here's everything I ever gave to anybody else. You would not do that. Luckily, I didn't date anybody before my wife. But think of it this way. I can either go out and buy one, or I'm going to go through the time to call some other lady and say, no, it didn't happen with you. Give me the stuff back. I'm going to give it to my lady. I don't know if it's, I wouldn't do that. That's ridiculous. That's because you're spineless. You don't have a spine. You got no spine. You're afraid of them ladies.
If you give something to someone, you give it to them, you got to let them keep it. That was done. It's a done deal. I agree with that part, unless I would ask, though. Because she's like this woman. She's hoarding it. She doesn't know what to do. In fact, I can help her out. Or you call her up and say, I think it's causing you to sin. Give me my lady. You prideful beast. That seems a little harsh. All right. What was Abby's advice? Abby's advice was, there's no protocol regarding gifts from former boyfriends. If you are uncomfortable wearing the items because they bring back sad memories, consider selling them. We are, Leo. Or if they contain valuable gems, having the stones reset. Making rid of something that you do want. However, if you can adjust your attitude and consider them souvenirs, then you can wear and enjoy them. Yeah, buddy. I have no emotional connection to this. You know what? These do look pretty fine on me. So is it appropriate for someone who's married to have like a little box of old stuff from former people they dated? Ooh, I don't know about that. My wife had a picture of a guy that she used to date and I threw it away after we got married.
I used to have some stuff like letters and stuff. Yeah, you know. I don't know if I started. I don't know. It's been like 26 years now. So it's like old ancient stuff, but probably crumbled in the dust. I don't know. Dear Big Dan, I love you. I saw you defeat the wrestler at the Chinese. You look hot in spandex. You were the man. Okay. Is that it for advice? That's it. Okay. So the chat really wants to know. Hold on. Oh, man. They keep saying stuff and it keeps going away from my question. If you had. I don't like that last one. How long is this show? Okay. Aren't you done? Will it ever end? I told my grandma to quit watching. All right. So this is a pretty broad question. So I'm going to have to give you some time to think. Who's the quick answer?
Who can I depend on for a quick answer while everyone else thinks about it? Me or David? We're the bright ones. Helpful. Hello. Why are we getting close together? I'm trying to get on the camera. Move the camera. Don't get closer. At least he put the shirt back on. That's good. There was a little too much man skiing next to me. Should we have a race to see who can answer faster? All right. We're going to do a buzzer. Do we need those little things? Those little Bible quiz things. Hey, I used to be in Bible quizzing. There you go. All right. You're going to rock the second one. Johnny, you're not supposed to say that on the radio. I mean, I wasn't a nerd in high school. I read a book once about a guy who was in a… Let's take a quiz. He was a wrestler. Is it an epistle? We call it a Bible wrestling. I know the epistles. I take offense to that.
I only do the knee of… Do you do the knee of… I only read the knee of… ESV is for hippies. Okay. Here's what I'm saying. Chat, I'm going to ask this question. But if we can get more specific on the questions, because this is really broad. If you could do anything anywhere, what would it be? Yeah. I would like to take a hot air balloon over the Great Wall of China. What side would you leave from, and what side would you land on? What are my options? You don't know the coordinates of the Wall of China? I'm pretty sure it runs east-west. Gabriel? And what song would you sing while going over the Wall? You finished that, but I've got mine. I would sing a new Chinese song that I'm working on. So that'll be on the next record. Do an answer. I would take a road trip on an Indian motorcycle down Route 66, and I would listen to Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen. Tom Petty, I submit to you, is the ugliest man I've ever met. Have you seen him and his band? That's not a bad choice, by the way. His tunes are all right. But he looks like a broom. I believe that's him at the door now. I've never deserved it if I walked into my kitchen.
Yeah, I just got a text from his lawyer. Tom Petty. Boost. I'm telling you. Here's the thing. His lawyer is going to have a hard time proving that he does not look like a broom. He only laughed because he looks like a broom. That's true. That's true. If he didn't look like a broom, it wouldn't have been funny at all. All right. And I'm sweeping up the floor. Sweeping it towards the door. You don't know Tom Petty. I know Tom Petty. All right. What else we got? Okay, one day to do anything anywhere, what would it be? You chose to do nothing? Two fingers. Nothing? Nothing at all? I don't know. I would have to say probably just chill at the beach with my best friends and play some acoustic stuff. All the songs that we grew up loving. You do acoustic stuff, do you? Yeah. That's really nice. Two for two, boys.
You guys are amazing. With my shirt on. I'd like to hear some of that someday. I'd like to make that clear. It's totally fantastic. Don't worry. Okay. You've already had your best day ever? It's a really good day. One for repeats. Okay. All right. Fair enough. What next? It's a round robin. You're next, Doug. I'm a pretty simple guy, so I don't know. I think I would just read a book. Any book in particular? At Starbucks with black coffee. Buy a Reese's and then eat one and go, yes, there's another one. I'm on the two towers right now. Okay. All right. Pretty good. All right. Solid. What do you got? I would probably go scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef. I love the ocean and underwater stuff.
Have you done that before? No. Oh, sweet. So it would be a new thing for me. Yeah. Best day ever. I love snorkeling. I've done that. Yeah, I've done that. Yeah. But I want to be down there for a while. Yeah. I agree. That sounds pretty cool. Are you watching yourself? Look, Mom. This is why we took the mirrors out here. You're getting a lot of these numbers. Yeah. So anyway, like I said, our CD's pretty great. You should sell those jewelry. You can read the reviews. They're all saying it. I can't believe anybody ever broke up with me. Seriously. Look at this thing. It's still holding up. I should be on the July commercials. All right. All right.
Anybody else? Mike? What? They didn't ask the band, but the question was just for the band. They probably care less what you do, but what do you think? What do you mean? Like, what would you do one day? I don't know. Do anything anywhere? I don't know. I'd just do what other people tell me. I'm a follower. I'd wait to see if someone else is doing something cool. I'm like, I should try that. Here's what I'm telling you. I'm probably going to go scuba diving with this gentleman over here. I'm going to start backwards. So here's what I think would be awesome is if you've ever been to a concert in like a big auditorium, like a really huge deal, and I would like a chair that somehow is like suspended right in the middle of the auditorium. So like, not in the balcony, but I mean, dead center auditorium, so like you're in the middle of both height and length in the auditorium. And so like you got, I mean, that is the best. There's a king seat in the house. It's sitting in, suspended in the air over everything else in the auditorium and watching the show. So that's the most narcissistic thing I've ever heard in my life. That sounds awesome. I didn't say suspended king chair. I didn't say kind of a throne look.
And so when you throw your goggles to the side, it hits the guy in the room behind him. I didn't say there would be a spotlight on me. I'm just saying that's the place to sit. They should put one in some big auditorium somewhere. That's your best day? Do you have a bedpan? At the end of the best day. No, I have a, well, I don't want to get into detail. I'm just saying like, what if you're up there and it's a two hour show? You've got to have a bedpan or something, right? It's a catheter. Catheter. That'd be the way to go. It's a, I don't want to say, best day ever. I don't want to use the phrase colostomy bag, but I'm saying something would have to be worked out. Don't make me say it again. There's dissent. You know what? My best day ever is not being at that show. Norcling in the bag. Seriously, how did he get up there? What do you need to run the pipe up there for? I hate that guy. It's a stupid guy. It's king's chair. What's the pipe doing up there? It's a problem. Daniel, did you have one? Absolutely.
I would take my lovely bride on my motorcycle and we'd go up to a mountain lake with a big old monster wood cabin, log cabin with a chef because I don't want to cook anything. And I would just sit back and relax. We'd go for a little ride and at the appropriate time let the kids come out and hang out too. What are cycles? Now hold on a second. Did anybody else mention wives, girlfriends in their answer? Wife. Okay. So everybody else is in trouble. Actually, I didn't. I got a text. Saying, what about me? I'm a fairly simple guy by myself when I'm by myself. I read a book. My lady can read next to me. Anywhere away from my wife is the best day ever. Leave me alone, woman. Fair enough. There would be a lady's chair there. Yeah. You're the worst one. At my feet. You chose the king's chair by your bag of poo. I'm pretty sure my wife would not be on board with anything that had a clostomy bag in it. Because she's a discerning woman. And knows when to say no. All right. Well, there you go. Best day ever.
I hope that met the expectations of the chat. Okay. What do you got coming up here? So coming up left still to come in the show, we're going to do a Secular vs. Solomon. I want to hear more from We Are Leo. I wanted to talk a little bit more about the album and some of the songs that are on it and kind of what was behind some of those. So we're going to get to that in just a minute. And we also have a modern words of encouragement. I'm excited for this one. And what did I call it again? Something Jesus? No, it's the second one you tried. Would Jesus agree? Question? No, think on it. Think about it. Think again. Oh, good advice. Think twice. Yeah. We're close. You're on the show permanently. This is excellent. We've got to make up a promo for that thing now. I like that. I think that could go. We've got to make that an off. What's that? Let's see how it goes first, Dan. Okay, yeah.
I better evaluate it after we do it. I love the concept, though. For good advice, think twice? Yeah. Okay, so how would it go? No, you've done this before. It tanks. No, no. No, last time it was Deuteronomy, Deuteronomy, Deuteronomy, Deuteronomy, Dan. Yeah. Yeah. That was good. That turned out pretty good. All right, so a good advice, think twice. We should have played Deuteronomy again. Oh, if you guys had practiced, you could have come up with something. We didn't practice. Okay, all right. So we need an opening for good advice or think twice. You've got 30 seconds. Think on it. Good advice. Think twice. That was it. Well, it's kind of a smarmy jazz singer at the beginning there. Good advice. Think twice. I like it. That's how I like it. That's funky.
That's all you need. One guy to come up with it. One guy to agree. All right, so that's what we've got coming up. All right. I'm trying to prepare a tune here so we can listen to a little We Are Leo. Yeah. When we take a break. I've got to potty. That's the only reason I keep bringing it up. So it's time for a break right now? Well, he doesn't need to. All right. You can just go now. You've got the… Where's my king's chair? Take me away. Take me away. Take me away. All right. All right. Hold on. Let's listen to a little We Are Leo. Hold on. So what do you got free out here on the old Facebook? Let's take a look. Yeah. Tell them exactly how to find this tune. All right. So if you go to We Are Leo, you can find We Are Leo on Facebook.
It's facebook.com backslash WeAreLeoMusic. Also, if you go to Life on the Path Facebook, you can look at our likes because we like We Are Leo. Anyway, if you go out there, if you go to the band page, you can listen to a bunch of different stuff here. We're going to listen to Live for Love. You can also… There's the Live for Love announcement. And what is the We Are Leo video? What's the content of that? Is that you guys dancing? It's when we changed our name. It was us announcing our new name. Oh. Well, we were kind of told the story. Listen to it later. It wasn't so off the cuff. Yeah. Yeah. It's in Colorado, too. Okay. Well, are you going to play it or what, man? Yeah. Well, just real quick. So tell me a little bit about Live for Love. It's our radio single that we're promoting to the radio right now. It's number 28 on Christian Rock in America. And it's… I don't know what it's at in Australia, but it did peak at number seven. On Christian Rock. That's pretty awesome. We didn't even make the charts out there.
You guys are amazing. No, that's true. Did they ban us? We have had trouble getting in. Wow. We're going to say we know you guys, though. You're in big trouble. The thing is, I don't know how they keep track of these charts, but… Somebody's doing it. Actually, how did they do that? I have no idea. Did they take up… Like, is it an online poll? No, they just pray. They pray about it? They pray. They throw it up in the air. We're regardless. No, no, no. We are Leo number seven. Number seven. Put it right down. Put it. Is that how you pray? Hold on. Lionel Richie. Don't worry. He's coming to know Jesus. I'm certain of it. Did you just say Lionel Richie?
Yeah, that's right. He loves the Lord. Hello. That's the name of the album. That's very privileges. That is the name of the We Are Leo album. I told you. Hello. All right, anyway. So this is Live for Love by We Are Leo. We'll be right back with you. You're listening to Live from the Path. I think. Welcome back. You've been listening to Live from the Path. That was We Are Leo with Live for Love. It's starting up again. Oh, yeah. Rock on up to it. We Are Leo and Oh Hush. Mike, do your business. Spangler is coming in. Let Spangler in the door. Mike, get Spangler in the door. Put your room down for a minute and open that guy. Beverages. Mine's a refill, so if it's not sealed, you don't want to drink my saliva. That's beautiful. You got a high voice, man. You guys needed an accordion.
They made me sing way higher than I wanted to. They said so that you pressed this out without an accordion in it. They needed an accordion. Who's your producer? It's the lawyer. 18 months and this one came out. No accordion. Where's the accordion? I can't believe this. We actually have an accordion. Johnny was given an accordion when he went to Russia. And Novus knows how to play one. Wait a minute. They gave? Somebody gave you an accordion? Gave me one, yeah. Who looks at you and says, that man needs an accordion. I can't take him anymore without it. And then hands went over. Well, no. It was this dude we were staying with. It was like. I don't want it. Do you know where Mermansk is? No, Mermansk. It's north of the Arctic Circle. Did you just say Mermansk? It's like 100 miles north of the Arctic Circle. And he was in the army when he was a kid. And he said that he had got it.
Did you verify any of the stories this guy told you? No, I didn't verify it. But he did give me an accordion. I don't trust anybody from Mermansk. So I tell you, I was talking to a homeless guy a couple weeks ago. Hold on a second. Now, Chad, that's not really a question, though. So technically, the answer would be yes or no. Oh, that's true. Danny Kruger says hi. There you go. Hi, Danny Kruger. How are you? Very excited. Thanks for hanging out and watching us. So that was cheating on the question part, but I like your smooth operation. That's why I said it. Fair enough? Okay. Continue. So anyway, I was talking to a homeless guy. And this man claimed, I don't know if I, have I told you about this guy I talked with the Burger King? Where you called somebody to give a job? Yeah, yeah. About how he claimed to have been. He was a journeyman carpenter, a journeyman painter, an ex-marine. He had a psychology degree. And he did one other thing, like he was a half-time paralegal. Yeah.
Yet he was homeless at the Burger King. And I wondered, and I thought, I really would like to believe this man, but I'm having a hard time. Maybe his name is William Walker. I bet he is William Walker. You never know about these people. Anyway, he ended up getting a job, because I stopped back by to check on him. And he seems to be on the up and up. The job that you got him? Yeah. Did him up for? Yeah. Still working? Cool. Yeah. Wow, that's been a few weeks. I know, it's pretty good. It's pretty good. So good for him. Success. Things are looking good. All right, well, you are listening to Live from the Path. My name is Ben Foose. Thanks for being with us here tonight. Hi, Ben. We are rolling into the second robust hour of Live from the Path. I call it the best hour. Yeah. This is when stuff really comes out. It takes us an hour to kind of get things rolling, kind of warm up, kind of, yeah.
Those professionals, they can walk in and really do the deed right on. Yeah. We've got to warm up to it. Yes, that's true. We're like that old trusty lawnmower that takes a few pulls. And then fires up, and you're like, you know what? I'd never replace her. You always try it over at the neighbor's lawn first before you make sure everything's on the up and up. Hey, speaking of which, so I finally figured out. You guys look at the baseball fields, right? And you can see how the grass looks different colors? Yeah. Okay, so here's how you do it. You run your lawnmower into a tree stump. I'm with you so far. And then it breaks one of the blades. Yeah. So, like, I got a riding mower, which is unnecessary for a house my size, but I have one. And so, like, the one I hit the stump with kind of broke the blade so it tilts down like this. And so then you ride along, and it cuts one side at a different length than the other. Like, one almost digs into the ground, and then one is, like, way high. Yeah. But after you make a pass at it, it's got the stripes. Well, wait a minute. That's how they do it. So, is it a two-blade thing, or if it's one blade, the blade's going all the way? No, no, no, two blades. So, it's at an angle.
It's not like a bolt. I mean, if one blade is angled, then it's going to be angled all the way around. Oh, you said it's two blades. Okay. Yeah, it's two blades. Yeah. So, anyway. So, every guy who mows the lawn of a baseball field. They've run it. Yeah, they've run it into a tree trunk. That's what I have to do. Yeah. Through life experience. That's awesome, Ben. I didn't do it. I had no idea. I came up with this knowledge organically. I mean, I didn't have to do any research or anything. Some things the Lord just hits me with. Here's what I do. Thank you. Here's what I do. I look out. I'm going to bless you with a tree stump. And I see life, and I take it in. Is there a tiny thing? Yeah. He's on the path. That's the life from the path guy. Yeah.
You know what Ben's done? Is we needed a logo for the show, and so Ben drew a guy who looks exactly like the bathroom guy, so you're always reminded of the show when you go to the bathroom. Every time you go to the bathroom, you're like, oh, life from the path. Pretty solid. Pretty solid move. And there's a lot of bathroom humor that happens here, too. You know what else I learned? You know what I figured out this week? That when you're putting your bed sheet on, you know the stretchy one, the one that goes on the bottom? Yeah. If you always start in the upper left-hand corner with the tag, it'll always come out right. You don't have to throw it on once and go, oh, I got the short stringy side. Oh, really? The tag is always in the top left? Yeah, the tag is always in the top left. So if you always start in the top left corner with the tag, it'll be right like it's I did not know that. You know, I've probably wasted 20 hours of my whole life screwing that up. Come on. Yeah. Flipping it back around, and usually I'll overflip it. So then I'm right back to where I started. I'm 180. You'll never get that time back. How often? I mean, I've never known guys who really change sheets. Usually a guy can go like a year and a half on the same sheets, and if they're a bachelor
especially, they don't think about it. And it's the wife who… The clean sheets are important to my wife, and I like to serve her by changing them. Because mostly because I am the reason that they're dirty. And so they have to be changed. That's all we need to know. Hey, man. So I found out last… I woke up this morning, and I realized last night… So I wore a pair of jeans with a hole in the knee, and I had showered in the morning, so I didn't shower at night. And I had been gardening, doing some weed pulling. And so I went to bed with a big old brown spot right on the exposed knee part. And I had slept in my bed with that, and my lady was not very happy to find out the fact that I slept with a filthy knee into the bed. So in case you were wondering what happened, that's what went down. That's why she's not on the chat tonight. I was not concerned with it, but I am now. All right. Yeah. That's what I'm talking about. Speaking of the bathroom guy, I found this the other day at a church. I don't know if you can see that, but it says Joseph's. That was the bathroom sign. For dudes. For dudes, yeah. Joseph's and Mary's or something? It says Mary's? It did. Isn't that kind of weird? There's a church on the other side of town that in their bathroom, in the guy's bathroom, there is a big print with a little saying on it. And on the bottom, it says, your journey ends here.
And every time I go there, I go to the picture and say, dude, why do you have that in? He looks at me. He has no idea what I'm talking about. Your journey ends here. It's right on top of the toilet. I mean, it's just like, it's like, it just doesn't seem appropriate. Now, Dan, did you ever consider that that sign is not really there? That the Lord has revealed something to you when you go into that bathroom? There's some reason that the preacher does not see it, and you see it every time. Maybe he doesn't see the depth of the message. You're seeing visions. I think that he doesn't, he's too shallow. Maybe he's too short. Maybe he can't see it at all. Who knows? Ben? Yes. Are we ready for Secular Solomon? Oh, no. I'm sorry. I have a bathroom picture. This is not what we're going to do, fellas. This is not what we're going to do. I want to know who goes around taking pictures of bathrooms. The newsroom that says, not an exit. This was in a gas station. Not an exit. So, in case you go to the bathroom, you need to get out of the building. Now, hold on. I have a good gas station story where we got it for a second.
Okay. So, I went to go buy something at the gas station, and I had a coupon. I had a coupon for it. My wife's big on the coupons. By way of… It must be a manufacturer coupon. Why are you trying to hedge out of these coupons by blaming it on your wife? Do you use coupons? I don't use coupons. I use a coupon today. 20% off. Of what? Close. Hair products? Close. A half. A half. Ulta. Actually, it was jeans. White jeans. Ooh. Here's the deal. I can't pull off white jeans. Never. No. Last time I did something, I threw it on my lap. That's because you've never tried. No. That's not going to happen. No.
It's out. Okay, Mike. Go ahead. So, anyway. I was at this gas station. I tried to use a coupon. It was 10 days out of expiration. I showed up on the 20th, and it went bad on the 30th. And I slide the coupon to him, and he goes, I can't take this. It's almost expired. Almost? It's going to expire any day. I said, what's that now? And he goes, too close to expiration. He was an Arabian, man. He goes, too close to expiration. I said, that means it's too good. And I slid it back to him. He goes, oh, no. Cannot accept. I said, you got to be kidding me. And, of course, now there's a line for me. And I'm like, okay. I can either be the jerk that argues with a guy that's obviously unreasonable, or I can just pick up my coupon and use it elsewhere. And I said, you know what, friend? I'll just go to a different gas station. He goes, they will not accept. It is too close to expiration. I've never heard that one.
I said, you're not a legitimate gas station. I said, I only stop here when the other gas station is too crowded. So, have that known as you're the B gas station to me. And now you're moved to the C. I'll drive out of my way. This is annoying. He said, thank you. And that was the end of it. I haven't been back. So, I've never encountered a situation where a guy looks at it and goes, no, no, that's too close to expiration. It hasn't been expired yet, but it's way too close. I will not accept it. That's awesome. Yeah, that's the whole story. I've never heard such a thing. That's the whole story. That's a great story. It wasn't great. It was 50-50. It's the best ever. So, what was it? Maybe I shouldn't even ask. I mean, I've never used a coupon at a gas station. I mean, what was it for? I don't want to say. Okay. That's what I thought. Never mind. It wasn't booze.
I'll tell you that. They don't need coupons for those, do they? Oh, Troy's going to text in his Secular Solomon answers. Okay, cool. Can I Skype to him? Oh, you don't have the Skype? No, it's not running. Okay. All right. Okay. Don't waste my text, Troy. You better get them right. And now, for America's fastest growing game show, Secular or Solomon? All right. You, unbeknownst to yourself, have landed in America's fastest growing internet game show, Secular versus Solomon. Okay, Troy. We're going to save the text here. If you want Solomon, do the crown. If you want secular, do something secular. Sorry. So, Engeldinger's in the… Not too secular. There are cameras. Crown Solomon. So, for those of you who've seen the show before, so, Troy swings by the show, and he's in the audience today, and he's playing the home game. So, he's sitting on the couch there. Can you see him? Who?
Troy? Yeah. Do you see him all right? I can see him. Okay. So, here's the premise of the game. Secular versus Solomon. I will give you a proverb, a bit of wisdom. Okay. And you need to tell me whether it is secular or whether it's from Solomon. Okay. If it is secular, you have to tell me the country of origin that you think it is from. Yes? Good? Everybody good? What do I win? Nothing. Satisfied. There's soda in the fridge. You may use the bathroom. Bragging rights. Bragging rights? Rights. For wisdom. All right. Now, the problem is, so, I'm going to have the answers over here. So, you fellas either have to abstain or try not to look. Okay. And Spangler can see it from in there. He's got his binoculars out.
Troy, I don't know. Troy, be honest with me. Oh, he has a view. Live from the path. Okay. Ready? Here we go. Secular. Oh, shoot. I can't see the chat. Chat, you're encouraged to play it along. You can vote secular or Solomon. Keep score at home, and we'll determine a chat winner at the end of the program. Ready? Yeah, this is secular versus Solomon. Number, yeah, here we go. Number one. Only a fool tests the depth of the water with both feet. Only a fool tests the depth of the water with both feet. Secular or Solomon. Secular. What's the motion for secular? You can actually use your voice. Secular. Secular, uh, country. Country of origin. We should let the Bible quiz guy answer first. I want to use the motion, though. No, the motion is only for people outside of the studio. You can't, you can't just pick it.
Can we do a motion for the country of origin, too? Yes, go ahead. Maybe not. I'm going to say that. I'm going to submit he needs an interpreter. Okay, so secular China. What do you got? Secular China as well. Okay. I wanted to smash a gong, but I don't have one. Fair enough. Gong! Namaste. I don't know, I don't know how this is going to go with you fellas. All right, what do you think? Secular or Solomon? Secular. And country of origin? China. They're rocking the China. We, R. Lee was obsessed. Go ahead. Secular. Okay. Hang on a minute. Okay, secular country of origin? Thailand. Thailand? Did you already see it? Secular, I have no idea what country.
You'll have to take a guess. It's the nature of the game. Peruvian. Mike, secular or Solomon? I'm saying secular and Filipino. Daniel? I'm going to say secular Russian. They're not wise. You'll see about that. I'm pretty sure everybody wanted to guess China, but they just felt bad because… They felt like they were bandwagon. I understand. Here we go. Only a fool tests the depth of the water with both feet. Secular. African. Told you. Which is more of a continent, but that's as general as we got. It does not include China, however. That was a big wrong. That's close. We're going to have to be out on the country, Tori. I don't want to tell you. Okay. Here we go. Frustration is better than laughter because a sad face is good for the heart. Secular or Solomon? Frustration is better than laughter because a sad face is good for the heart. Jesus doesn't say things about sad faces. That's secular.
Nation? Chile. Chile. Daniel. Secular or Solomon? There's some stuff close to that. I'm going to go Solomon. Okay. Solomon? Johnny? Secular. Oh, I don't even know. Canadian? Where's the wisdom from the Canadians? Yeah, why not? Canucks? Secular Russian. Russians. I'm going to be on this one. I think it could be. Andrew's in for Solomon? Does there have to be a direct quote? It would be helpful to know the version of the Bible being used sometimes. I'm not going to tell you the version. If he tells you the version, then you'll know it's Solomon. Here's the following one. By the way, it's from the ESV. Oh, secular. That sounds Russian to me. Namibia.
Secular? I also say secular. Secular? All right, here we go. Frustration is better than laughter because a sad… Troy's going to say Solomon. Troy's on for Solomon. Frustration is better than laughter because a sad face is good for the heart. Solomon. Ecclesiastes 7.3. Ah. Solomon. I'm so embarrassed. I said secular. Here we go. I'd like to thank my mother. Good job, Troy. Here we go. Next. As dead flies give perfume a bad smell, so a little folly outweighs wisdom and honor. As dead flies give perfume a bad smell, so a little folly outweighs wisdom and honor. Secular or Solomon? Secular. Secular. Troy? Troy goes crown. Solomon. Okay, Solomon. I'm going to go Solomon. Solomon?
Solomon. Andrew's in for Solomon? Doug says Solomon. Yeah, I'm going with Solomon. Is it the folly and the flies? Is that why we're all going Solomon here? It's a mistake if you go by the language, but go ahead. I'm not giving you a wink or anything. You pick it out on your own. I have nothing invested in your win. Secular. Country. Belize. Belizeians have a fly problem. Solid. Lots of folly and flies in Belize. Go ahead, Dan. I'm going Solomon. Come on! I don't know the Bible. There we go. As dead flies give perfume a bad smell, so a little folly outweighs wisdom and honor. Solomon. Ecclesiastes 10-1. Troy cheated. Korean? Why? It's not up for dispute. We're calling it solid. That sounds secular.
For the purpose of the game, we're saying Solomon wrote Ecclesiastes. Which he did. It's up for it to me. Not by me and not for this game. Here we go. Give to a pig when it grunts and a child when it cries and you will have a fine pig and a bad child. Give to a pig when it grunts and a child when it cries and you will have a fine pig and a bad child. Secular or Solomon. Troy says Solomon. Solomon? Definitely he says. Definitely Solomon. Couldn't be any more Solomon. I've seen Solomon and that's him. Thanks, Troy. Yeah, you do have to keep track of your own score. We can't keep track of the chat's individual scores. There's too many people on the chat. I can't be keeping track of your score for you. Okay, go ahead, Dan. Secular or Solomon? I'm going secular and I'm going to go Aztecs. That's a race of people. It's not a country. I'm going to go. That's an awkward moment. I don't forget it. Yeah, somewhere secular.
I don't know. Dan's going to California. Okay, Mike. Secular or Solomon? I'm going to go. I'm going to agree with. I'm going to say secular. Okay. Where from? I'm also going to go with somewhere in Cuba. What are you pointing to me? Yeah, yeah. I was going to say Southern Hemisphere. That's how I was thinking South. Just to reiterate, Troy does go Solomon. All right. Definitely Solomon, he says. Secular and I'm saying Peru. Peruvians. No, no, no. Sorry. Brazil. Brazil it is. Brazil. Secular and I'm going to stick with China until it works out. The Chinese are going to rock it until it happens. There's a lot of people there. They're bound to say something. Boy, Troy, no one's agreeing with you, man. You're having a rough time.
I'm going to have to say secular. Britain. Those Brits. They got a problem with pigs and kids. The old English. Pigs and kids. Moving on. Secular New Guinea. The New Guinea. New Guinea. Next to Papa. Secular China. Chinese. Double up on the China. Here we go. Give to a pig when it grunts and a child when it cries and you will have a fine pig and a bad child. Secular Denmark. Oh. Sorry, Troy. Made to save Denmark. What a Dutch. Solomon. I have this mistake, man. Mistake. Here we go. Better an egg today than a hen tomorrow. Better an egg today than a hen tomorrow. Secular or Solomon. Oh, yeah, Troy.
It came first. It doesn't say. Troy's making the, here's the house, here's the people. It's not a steeple motion. I don't know. I don't know what that means. He says Solomon. Oh, secular. Okay, Troy says secular. Better an egg. Yeah, secular. Dan. As a very, very sad, sad, secular person who just doesn't like life. And it's probably, probably someone. Where are sad people? Is that what you're thinking? Yeah, where are sad people at? Russia. Russia. Yeah. Yeah, it's got to be a Russian. Yeah. The Republic of Georgia. Yeah. Okay. Yugoslavia. Okay. Slavs and Croats. Got it. I'm going to secular and Nicaragua.
Slovene's got it. Yeah, I'm going to say secular and I'm going to say Russia. Burma? Russia. Troy would like to change his voice to Solomon. Definitely. Yeah. He loves Solomon. Solomon is. All right, go ahead. Secular Chinese. I like his persistence. I'm going to have to go with Doug. Secular Chinese. Chinese. Rule it. I'm going to go with secular Uzbekistan. That's not a real country. Secular Russia. Secular Russia. Qdoba. Troy Solomon. Again. Yeah. Troy says Solomon. Okay, here we go. Better an egg today than a hen tomorrow. Secular Italian. Man, Troy, you're a fool. I don't understand why you keep picking Solomon.
According to Dan, people weep in Italian. Well, you know, they have to crack eggs to make all that lasagna. The chicken stuff doesn't. Isn't the bread the primary ingredient of lasagna? Better an egg today than a hen tomorrow. Enjoy life. That's what they're saying. Live life, Dan. Live life today than a hen tomorrow. Not. The hen's the one that's like walking around clucking. Don't they usually say have the hen so you can have further eggs? No, they're saying live for the moment. Quit planning forever. Well, that's a good way to see yourself without eggs. They're saying live before you live. If you're an egg, you're just sitting there. Not be an egg. It's better have an egg. Dan? I thought they were saying it's better to be an egg today than be a hen. No, no. Better have an egg today. Oh, you're not encompassing being the egg in itself? You're not becoming an egg or hen. No. Well, I would have said Italian. How did you guys? Did you guys take it that way? Oh, that's obviously Italian.
I have no idea how to take this. It must be mafia related. Were you transubstantiating yourself into an egg or hen, or did you think having an egg or a hen on hand? Who says egg now, hen tomorrow? I just think they like eggs. Jesus said, I will teach a man the fish, he'll live for life. Not just give the man the fish, and the Italians are on the other end, eat the egg now, and we'll see if the hen feels all right tomorrow. That seems a mistake. All right, here we go. The Italians can't be trusted. Troy says Solomon. That's a bad proverb. Those who disregard discipline despise themselves, but the one who heeds correction gains understanding. Troy says secular. Those who disregard discipline despise themselves, but the one who heeds correction gains understanding. He's apparently also kicked a field goal. Secular or Solomon. David. Solomon all the way. He's in for Solomon. Yeah, I'm going to go with Sally. Sally boy. Solomon. Solomon. Solomon, Solomon. Double Saul. You're in. Troy says secular.
I'm going to go with Solomon. Okay. Solomon. Everybody Solomon. Those who disregard discipline despise themselves, but the one who heeds correction gains understanding. Okay, chat's on for Solomon. Proverbs 15, 22. Man, Troy. Solomon. You got to get out of the New Testament, bro. Or Ager. Whatever. All right. Here we go. Every sin brings its punishment with it. Every sin brings its punishment with it. Secular or Solomon. That ain't Jesus. Jesus didn't write the Proverbs. He wrote the Bible. Daniel. Secular or Solomon? I'm going to go with secular, and that sounds like a Nazi. We'll punish. Just because you said it with an accent doesn't make it correct. Nazi land right next to Greenland. Thank you, Dan. Every sin brings its punishment with it. That's definitely secular, and I give it West Germany. And Troy's going to go with Solomon.
Troy's in for Solomon. Donnie. Solomon? You're in for Solomon. Secular. And from where? Chimbo. Switch to Zimbabwe. Now's the time. Martian. That is a planet? He's all right. He's had a lot of caffeine. All right. Leave him be. Sounds good, man. I'm going to give you Uganda. Solid. Yeah. Andrew. Yeah. I'm going to have to say. He's going across the wall, Mike. He's going across the wall for you. I'm afraid of my waters, friend. I have one brilliant thought of night, and you're taking it from me. Secular. Egyptian. Egyptian. David.
He's in for Solomon. Every sin brings its punishment with it. Secular. Romania. Oh, that's pretty close. Troy tried to say that was from the Colossians. He even made a specific guess. Shoot. Sorry, chat. Did I miss something? Is there something I should be looking at here? Eat the egg. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Okay. Ask it again if you have a problem. What is the question for David? JC is not in the studio. He's at home. Most of the questions have been like, do you like blue? You know, pretty deep question. The chat is not really in depth. We are Leo also answers questions on their Facebook, yeah? Yeah. So if there's something we don't get to, and I'm sorry, if I do miss your question, I do apologize for that. But if we don't get to it, feel free to post them on their Facebook. Well, I'm sure they'd be able to get around to it. You guys also have a Twitter feed, right? Oh, yeah. Do you use the, who does the Twitter?
Does everybody do the Twitter? We all do. Okay. Is there, now, is there a guy that does it worse than everybody else? You don't have to say, but look at him. What do you mean by work? Like, I'm not going to, I'm not going to set parameters. I'm just going to say. There have been certain discrepancies as to what's tweetable and what's not. But we're going to write a book that we're going to be releasing in 25 years of things we wanted to tweet but didn't. Okay, brilliant. Is the lawyer going to be involved with this? So look for that. Got those attorney fees piling up. After tonight, probably, yes. So I just want to say we love people from all races and we're un-attorney. Yeah, we love the Italians. I don't know what everybody was saying about the Italians. You guys have set yourself under legal restriction. That's a fool's break. You just got to be able to run off the cuff. Let her rip. That's what Paul did. Got himself beat up. But he's Paul. That's all I'm saying. That's how it's going to happen? Okay, here we go. Let's see.
What do you got? Oh, okay. The sleep of a laborer is sweet whether they eat little or much. But as for the rich, their abundance permits them no sleep. The sleep of a laborer is sweet whether they eat little or much. But as for the rich, their abundance permits them no sleep. Are you saying laborer? Yes. What does it sound like I'm saying? Is that a Labor Day? Sleep of a laborer. Yes. It's themed for the holiday. Where are you at, Dan? Are they union or are they real workers? It doesn't say. There's a union break on the second line. 15 minutes paid. Wait, I'm going to say that is a Solomon. Solomon. Mike. Troy says secular. Secular. Troy says secular. And what was your guess, Troy? He said the middle of the ocean. Troy, that's not even country, man. Seriously. I will go with secular. Dang it.
I'm going to say Solomon. I'm going with Solomon. With Dan. Okay. Solomon all the way. Double Solomon all the way across the sky. Double Solomon all across the sky. I'm going to say secular on that island that they were on, on Lost. That's the place of origin. With the dinosaurs? Yes. You've not seen the show, have you? I got three shows into it, and I thought it was a dinosaur until I quit watching it. I thought this is stupid. I don't believe in dinosaurs. I don't believe in dinosaurs? Yeah, they're not real. Those bones are all fake. Unicorns, I mean, dinosaurs, no way. I'm tired of being light, dude. I've seen a leprechaun on television. Moths also aren't real. There's just some ugly butterflies, and they wouldn't admit to it. It's your step-cousin butterfly. You would come to our party. Yeah, I am. What do you got? Sorry. Solomon. Oh.
Sally. Secular. Country. Go on, all in. Nova Scotia. Really go wild. There you go. Nova Scotia. Here we go. Troy said whatever the wrong answer is. That's what he wants. The sleep of a laborer is sweet, whether they eat little or much, but as for the rich, their abundance permits them no sleep, Solomon, Ecclesiastes 5, 13. Bonus. Thanks, Dan. You, whether you realize it or not, have just been a part of America's fastest-growing game show, Secular or Solomon? Joe. Secular or Solomon? You have the opening that says the same thing that you say. I don't have an ending. We should get one. It's a lot of work. You know how much it took me to cut out that king and put his head on the boxers? Hold on. There he goes. Look at it. I got to go frame by frame trying to keep up with the Mario Man. Isn't that pretty cool? That Secular guy wasn't…
Look. You can see the guy's face leading head. Is that Soda Popinski? Yeah. No. No. It's not Soda Popinski. What's Bacho Man? Oh, like the big one? Yeah. Like the punch-out without Mike Tyson? No, it's Mike Tyson's punch-out. No, Mike Tyson's… Oh, yeah, he does. Dang it. You guys ever play that punch-out for Nintendo? Mike Tyson's punch-out? It was awesome. It was awesome. Mike Tyson… You know, I have the generic one that is not Mike Tyson. I don't know why they just labeled me as a poor fella, but they didn't sell me the one with Tyson in it. I got the one with Mr. Dream in there. And I've never beat it legitimately. I cheated and beat it with Game Genie, but I didn't… I couldn't beat it straight up. It whooped me too many times. I couldn't take the failure. Have you played those boxing games at, like, Dave and Buster's where you get to put on the gloves? Yeah.
You have to, like… Yeah. Yeah. It's hard to do it without looking like an idiot. You know what I'm saying? Like, because you should take the stance, you know, but no one ever does. They just stand straight and… No, dude, when I did it, I was falling into it. The next day, I could barely move my arms. I was so sore. Yeah. Because I did it for hours. Oh, too long, man. And it was the day before Johnny got married because it was his bachelor party that we had at Dave and Buster's. Uh-huh. It was very exciting. It was… Would you call it intense? It was intense. It was pretty intense. It was a circus. Yeah. You know who rocks at that game? It was a circus. I've never been to a circus. It set me off as intense. Okay, sweet. All right. You've been listening live from the path.
Hey, thanks so much for joining us. Thanks for hanging out on the chat. I really do appreciate that. Like I said, we are broadcast every Monday night from 10 to midnight. We are about honest faith, fierce grace, and sometimes we're sometimes donkeys, which means we like to… Sometimes it gets pretty serious in here. Sometimes it gets completely off the wall. That is the life of some guys that are trying to stay on the path to Christ. One way or another, that's what we're going to be talking about. So we hope you are comfortable here and that you want to join us. What are you laughing at? I'm trying to put on my legitimate program. You're missing the great stuff on the chat. So I'm right. I love you guys. They're princes, but we are Leo. Not the other losers. Definitely not those other guys. They won't ask my questions. Bummer. I wish I never saw the chat. I know there's been a few times I think I'm like, this is great. They keep writing stuff like, what happened to you guys? How did you get stuck here? Would you ask them if they'll make me lunch tomorrow? Do you guys make lunches? Yeah, that's cool. I'll be by. Hey, we'll make a lunch.
Okay. Well, that was easy. I thought there was going to be more trouble than that. It was pretty much… It just so happens I'm free. So, we want to talk about the CD, right? More stuff on the CD? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Actually, so what do you guys got coming up? Like, when you leave Iowa, where are you heading? Well, we're going to be in Iowa tomorrow. We're playing in the Quad Cities, Muscatine, at a church there. And actually, the next six days, we have six back-to-back shows. And it's got to be four different states, I think. So, yeah. Cool. So, but we're happy to be here. We just came from Life Flight Festival. There was over 100,000 people there. It was amazing. That's huge. Wow, that is. I met Francis Chan. Oh, really? He shook his hand in the artist room. So, I was like, that was so awesome. And we had a great show. There was tons of people there. And it was, yeah, it was awesome. Does he talk softly in person?
He just was very humble and said, thank you so much. And shook my hand, asked what band we're from. What? I asked a direct question. Does he talk softly? Yeah, it was soft-ish. It's not a denigrating term if he's a soft talker. I'd just like to know in case we run into him. I don't want to talk boisterously and offend him. I just feel like he would talk softly. Hey, Francis. What's up? I read your book. Hey, thanks, fellas. By the way, what's wrong with you? I've come on your show, but you said I was a soft talker. And I'm really upset about you. I heard you were doing my crazy love series. I don't want you to because you're going to give me a bad name. There's a reason you guys are internet only. I'm worldwide. Because you're obnoxious. Francis Chan does not endorse you. Dang it. He seems like a nice fella. Go ahead. He's keeping it close to the vest. I'm going to take it to my grave. He talks soft, but I straight sit in front of these guys. I wish I could be Francis Chan.
I'd have a good story like he didn't like me. Actually, I went to go talk to Francis, and he looked at me and rolled his eyes. Let's invite him on the show. You want to? We have a long line of people that have said no to coming on the show. Oh, yeah. We find pastors that we really like are people that we find to be great spirit authorities. And then we send them emails and ask them on the show. And we like to post on how they politely decline. It is awesome. I'm sorry. His schedule is full. Or, he really can't get involved at this time. I have lots on on Monday night from 10 to 12. I'm very busy. It's all booked up. It's your automatic email response. It just sends out. Francis said, dear life in the past, I'm resting my voice. I've been talking all day pretty loudly. He's never coming on. For once, I'd like to get an email back that says, I checked out your show. It's awful. It's not going to happen, fellas. I cannot donate my time to this. Seriously. Why would you even ask me? I'm surprised God has not struck you dead. Anybody that has to talk about woolly mammoths and freeze pops and Jesus in the same three-minute period. Seriously.
Who broadcasts ADD from 10 to midnight? Love, Francis Chan. By the way, I said this very softly when I was thinking in my head. The last two we've gotten back is sent for my assistance. We can't even get to the main dude. I think the last one we tried was Perry Noble. He wasn't having it. I'm sorry. My skipper is just too full. Dude, I don't go on any shows where it has four words in the title. It's just luck of the draw. Sorry, fellas. It's just kind of one of those things. I can't make it. Not that it ain't great and all. I don't know. It sounds like you have some cool stuff coming up. Yeah. Any… What? It's not your guys' fault we're junk. Let's keep on. Don't feel like you've got to rescue the show. We'll drown our own terms. What's the… So Life Flight was cool. Is there… Is it like we'd say if you had to look at the last, say, 12 months… Or maybe let's go from 18. We're working on the record.
Does that one stick out as the big one? Or is there a show that really sticks out for you that you said, look, I… I mean, I grant that there's probably a lot of cool ones, but I'm asking for a non-diplomatic answer. You know, if something stuck out as the coolest show you did over the last 18 months, anything float to the top. The release party. That was… That takes cake. Not because of numbers. It was such an emotional moment. You know what I mean? Yeah. Because some… Like, we've had some shows that have been huge numbers, like, you know, like… And those are really cool, but there's something so emotional about having all of our friends and everybody who's invested into our lives. And, you know, like our… David and I are brothers, and our sister was there, and, you know, just different friends and family members that were so invested in this project there, seeing us, seeing the completed project, you know? Yeah. But then there's also… I mean, there's lots of other shows that are big, like, you know, lots of people, really fun. But on an emotional level, for me at least, that was probably the best one, personally. So… I don't know about everybody else. Anyway, two drink minimum. So, what was…
Two drink minimum. So, if I gave you a choice, right? So, if I said, look, if you had the choice to play in a intimate room, 40 people, or a giant room, 4,000, but the 40 people really dig you, 4,000, most of them dig you. What's the choice? You like intimate scene or big odd choice? Should we make it, like, intimate 200? No, 40. 4,000. You take the 4,000? If it was intimate, like, 200, 250, I'd take that. My favorite show is a medium-sized room with, like, wall-to-wall, like, 400, 500 people. That's my favorite shows. Okay. Because you can connect with everybody. When we play bigger shows, like, 4,000, it's like, you can't even… It's really hard to connect with the people in the back. And I'm really… I love to connect with people and interact. So, if there's, like, 400, 500, and they're, like, wall-to-wall, and everybody the whole room is, like, the whole land. That's what I love. That's my fave. Because everybody's just… Everybody's in on it? That's intense. That'd be cool. It is intense. And that's what it was at Life Flight. It was pretty much wall-to-wall.
It was a barn. It was probably, like… I would say, like, 400, 3, 3, maybe 300. Who's the headliner for the festival? We are, Leo. We were. We're pretty good. Francis Chan opened for them. Okay, come on up here, go. Come on up here. I hear these guys are Leo. Who was it? Like, Reliant K was there. 10th Avenue North. Jeremy Camp. Sanctus Real. I mean, there was a bunch of… Yeah. Blindside was headlining one. Did anybody even tell you why they wouldn't come on our show? Any of those guys say anything? Or who doesn't… Did they mention us at all? Or who handles their email? Just a contact person. It's all we need. We are Leo, Sid. You guys are great. This is going to be awesome. You guys are fantastic.
We have so many contacts now. Prince Chan. It's live right back. We talk to your friends. Who? And we defended you in the face of them accusing you of being a small talker. They seem to be slightly drawn back once we started making fun of you. Actually, here's… They came back to the show. I'll tell you this, though. There was actually a pretty cool video out of him and Mark Driscoll and another guy talking about why he left, like why he left Simi Valley to go do something else, because that was kind of a big deal. Yeah, it was. But anyway, the interview was very interesting, the stuff he had to say. So just kind of a side note. If you do look on YouTube, or it's on Vimeo, actually. You can just Google Mark Driscoll and Francis Chan, and there's a pretty cool interview out there with him doing it. I bet that's good. Yeah, it is pretty good. All right, very cool. All right, let's… I'll tell you what. Man, time is flying. Let's get to at least a couple of these. So here's the premise, right? Wait, did you want to do your introduction? You've forgotten already, haven't you? You wrote an introduction over here.
The song… Oh, oh. You'll fit right in here. What was the title again? Good Advice? Think twice. Pooch and cats. Pooch and cats. Pooch and cats. I can't remember how it was. Pooch and cats. It's good advice. We should record together. Don't think twice. Pooch and cats. Dude, my wife… I spend days doing that. My wife says it's never going to amount to anything. But sure enough, recording artist… Yeah, dude. Johnny says, we're going in the studio with it. There's a guy doing it. It's like fighting a worm under the rock. The lady says, no, thank you. This man says, yes, sir. Keep it. Okay. All right, so here's the deal. So we're going to look at some advice from either famous people or like modern day advice. Because people struggle.
They look for inspiration in their life. If you get, either you get down or like you wake up, you want to see a fresh inspirational quote. Type in daily inspirational quote and you got 50,000 people that run some kind of email list that send you some sort of inspiration daily. And life is stressful. Yes. So like… They need help. You need something to pick you up, keep you going. Now, the question is, is that if you're getting that advice, is it biblically sound? And if not, what would it take to make it biblically sound? Because the things that you're finding to inspire your life, there's plenty of biblical inspiration. And it's not… There's nothing wrong with like finding inspirational phrases from non-biblical sources. But the question is, is like, are you filtering them before you do so? Fair enough? Okay. Fair enough. So here we go. This is a question is good advice or think twice. Here's the advice. Surround yourself with only people who are going to lift you higher. Surround yourself with only people who are going to lift you higher. Good advice or think twice? Mike, what do you think? I say that's bogus. I say that's think twice. Why? I guess that kind of depends on where you're at. Well, no, no. It's inherently in the phrase, right?
Only surround yourself with people who lift you higher. That leaves no room for you to lift others. I think it's bogus. I think that's a pretty selfish way to go about thinking. It's exactly opposite of what Jesus said. The first will be last. The last will be first. However, I think there's some nuggets of truth in there. Because I think the Bible says somewhere that bad company corrupts good morals. Yeah. How do you interpret the word surround? Because there we get into the whole unequally yoked thing. Are we talking like surround as in your close group of people that you surround yourself with? Or are you talking surround as in I don't talk to or love anybody who isn't? Now, you know what I'm saying? Like, it's all how you interpret it. I think the phrase hinges on only. I think that's the issue. Because you can surround yourself. You can be with wise people and become wise. But if you're only around people, I mean, that's all about making you look better. It's like hiding yourself in a more Jesus example. It's more sticking yourself only with your church family, right? Which is great. You know, it's good for you to grow in your faith in Christ. But if your faith is never tested and you never get the opportunity to share that faith with other people, what have you done? You've taken the greatest gift ever given and you've kept it to yourself. It's easier to live the life when your life is only surrounded by people who are also doing it. Exactly. I think it's kind of bogus.
And what did Jesus say? You know, when you feed the hungry, you fed me. When you visit someone in prison, you visit me. These are people who you probably would not consider higher than you type of thing. No one's going to applaud you and think, well, that guy's really cool. He's hanging out with prisoners and the poor and the naked people because they need help. Why the naked people? I want to throw that in. Close the naked. I think there's a group of nakeds running around there. I was naked and you clothed me, Jesus. They need Jesus. I have a T-shirt that says, saving the world one naked person at a time. They need Jesus. Well, there you go. Wait, did it cost money? Yeah, it's actually to help people who don't have clothes. Do you wear that shirt? Okay, well, that's better. Okay, take it off. So, actually, I think I'm back to, it does hit on the surround. Because, right, there is something to be said of making sure that you have good people around you to be encouragements to you, to be examples to you, and that type of thing. But beyond that circle, if that's all you're doing, you're obviously, you can't positively impact the world for Christ by any means if you're only staying around other people. So, if you follow that strictly to the words that they're saying, that's you always taking and never giving. Like, I'm always taking good company. I'm always taking good inspiration. I'm always taking good people who are willing to build me up and push me in the right direction without ever giving back to either those people or the people that are beyond that group to say, look, here's my experience. Here's my witness. Here's whatever. And not giving back to them and being an encouragement to other.
It's kind of like the high school thing where I only hang out with the popular people so that people will assume I'm popular, whether I really am or not. But everybody else is. It never worked for me. I don't understand why. I showed up at their house all the time, tried to be buddies with them. And they never talked to you? They wouldn't let me in. Who's that guy? I tried to bake her a cake or something. I even said two larges and two Diet Cokes. That would be $17.95. And they said, don't come in. Stay here. I'll get the money. Okay. So, we say. It's a 50-50. Yeah. So, it's a think twice. I mean, you can follow that in the appropriate context if you think twice about it. Make sure you're following it. But if you think, because I think the initial reaction here, if you're not coming from that mindset, is to, I need to eliminate all X in my life. Like, the first thing you do is start making cuts and say, I can't take these people. And there are people that are poisonous to you. That's true. But that also is a very you perspective. It's coming from a position of me. Me, me, me, me. And if you're singing the me song, that is going to be a problematic for you in serving Christ later down the road if you can't, in a healthy way, get off of that and be able to give yourself to others and of others in your Christian way. Okay.
I'm in. All right. Here we go. There is only one success to be able to spend your life in your own way. There is only one success to be able to spend your life in your own way. Good advice or think twice. Who said it? Christopher Morley. I've never liked anything he said. I don't know him. He's a man of his person. Anything he said? Apart from this, no. But he's really irritating me. I would think twice. Think twice on them, too? When you become a Christ follower, you lay your life down at the foot of Jesus and you live his way, not yours. But isn't that spending your life the way you want to? You want to lay it down for Christ. Well, but there's still times. I know what you're saying. There's still times you're going to want to do certain things. And Jesus says, well, don't. I was more joking. No, I know. Are you being serious now? I'm very serious. Look at me. I'm serious. Have you seen his shirt?
He ain't messing around. That's right. I don't mess around with him. Yeah, it's not bad today. It looks like Frank Lloyd Wright designed it. It looks like someone threw a baseball in a window. I love Frank Lloyd Wright. That's what it looks like. It's a classic. Frank's a good guy. It's a classic piece. Actually, he was kind of crazy. Was he? He was really crazy. Did he cut his ear off or anything? He was spending his life the way he wanted to. I'll design my stuff. I'll show them. People say, don't design Frank. I say, whatever. They'll talk about me years after I die. This house is so funky, no one will move in. Actually, what is it? There's a Frank Lloyd Wright house that has two rivers coming into it, or two streams or something. Yeah, like, what is it called? Falling something. Yeah, so like two different streams or whatever come together and converge on the house. It's in Pennsylvania. Yeah.
It sounds pretty cool. Except they charge an outrageous amount to tour it. I'm going to send a guy in there with a camera. What are you guys doing? Go through Pennsylvania? Yeah. Yeah, in like a week. Okay, there you go. Two weeks. You guys want to call in from the road? Yeah, do you guys want to do roving reports for us from random places? That'd be awesome. If you don't want to agree now, I understand. Could we call it romping? Romping reports? Romping with We Are Leo. Because we're kind of a big deal. You want to associate with us. This is important. Okay, you're in then. We're going to call you next Monday. We'll ask our manager. We'll see what he says. Give me his phone number. I'm just going to call him directly. I'm tired of this. If he's watching right now, he might not. I love you. Just kidding. Oh, Taka's watching?
Yeah. What's up, Taka? We love you, Taka. You're the best. You're all right, as far as I know. I've heard good things from these guys. What was the answer? I don't know. Go to Bice, think twice. I think everyone else. I think twice. I think twice. All right. The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack in will. The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength and not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack in will. I actually agree with that because I think that if you lack strength and knowledge, but you have the will, then you will go and gain the strength and knowledge. You know what I mean? Like, it doesn't… I don't know. Go, Pat, go. Go, Pat, go. And the Broncos. I like it, too. I like it. On different levels, even spiritually, you can… If you lack the will, a lot of people just sit around and wait for God to do something in their life, and he's like, well, get up and do something, you know?
And actually puts you in the best spot, right? Like, not relying on your own strength or your own knowledge, but basically having the will to, you know, follow Christ or do whatever it is that you're pursuing. I don't know. I'm going with good advice on that one. Good advice? Vince got good advice. Mike? Solomon. Well, I'd be a fool to go the other way. Troy thinks it's terrible, but I think I'm all right with it. But I just think that it's not all about your own will, but I think sometimes it's just making the decision, even in your weakness, to take that to Christ and say, yeah, I'm weak, but I'm going to take it and say, hey, I need your help. Even if it's just reaching out in weakness to say, I need help. Yeah. Oh, I mean, and that's the strength is knowing where you're weak. I mean, a lot of times we try to make it sound like we're stronger than we are, as opposed to say, you know, I can identify where my weaknesses are, and I'm willing to give that up to the one that I know is stronger than I. And there's strength in that. All right, here we go. Joy does not simply happen to us. We have to choose joy and keep choosing it every day. Joy does not simply happen to us. We have to choose joy and keep choosing it every day. Good advice or think twice? Yes. Good advice. Good advice?
I know. I have to choose. I have to choose. You know, it says put on different things in the New Testament. Put on these attitudes. Put on the joy of the Lord. And so I think that's what we choose. Mike? Mike, you always look like you're trying to disagree but refuse because it's consensus. Because you guys say real smart stuff, and I think, lawnmower with the blade pit, cutting grass. That's pretty cool. I'm a dummy. I can't say it when we do stuff like this because I always think it's something dumb to say. Yeah. Mike, do you choose joy daily? I suppose. Well, I'd say that's probably true, right? Because there's, I mean, there's seasons of life where something has affected me in a way that will not affect me, that hasn't affected me that way previously. Like, you know, one day, one week you forget to take the trash out, right? And you come home, you're like, ah, crap, I'm going to take the garbage out. It's another week of garbage in the garbage can. Dang it. And then, you know, it's no big deal. But then two weeks later, I do the same thing, and now I'm really mad this time because I had something big to throw away, and now I can't throw it away. And so what's the difference between the two weeks, right? Like, why did I choose joy one week and okay, and then why was I so upset two weeks after? Because it's piled on, right?
You're letting the piled-on negative experience overcome your joy. That's exactly right. I think you've got to choose it. The Holy Spirit living in your life produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, so that the more you allow God to control your life. Now, wait a minute. Does that mean if I'm not growing? I mean, let's say I'm not joyous. Is it because I'm not growing closer to God? It's because you're not allowing the Holy Spirit to work in your life. So it's a natural fruit byproduct. So it's a works righteousness. I'm not doing it. No, it's allowing. Go ahead, Dan. What? Don't make me call Chan. Francis says that to my dad, Hudson. I'm just so mad. He's going to agree to come on the show because he's a nice man, and he's going to find this on the internet somewhere, and I'm going to feel really bad about it. He's going to find you. He's going to find you so you can run and tell that. He knows it's all in good fun. He fell in his own life in the past. I wish someone would make fun of us on the internet. The problem is we do too good of a job on our own. We don't need them. That's what it is.
Yeah. Yeah, I think you have to choose. I totally think you have to choose, 100%. It talks about being transformed by the renewing of your mind. You know what I mean? Renewing your mind is something. You have to renew your mind. You don't get transformed by following the pattern of the world, and the pattern of the world is negativity. You know what I mean? And so to be transformed, you have to continually renew your mind to a position of joy rather than negativity. I think that. But I think you can also not confuse happiness with joy because you can choose happiness. That's a different. But I think like what he was saying, I think that joy is a byproduct of walking in the spirit and letting him work in your life. Yeah. Happiness is a byproduct of your circumstances you happen to be in. And you can choose to be happy about it or you can choose to wallow in it. Yeah. I think that's the big thing is that choosing joy means that you don't let your circumstances dictate your life. You know what I mean? Like if your circumstances are negative, that doesn't, you know what I mean?
That shouldn't affect us as believers because we choose to let God work in our lives. You know what I mean? So it shouldn't affect us. Circumstances shouldn't affect it. Yeah. So I just want to say a real quick thing. I know some of you guys were talking about science and God and did God create the world and all this sort of thing. But I just want to say that I've thought about this a lot. And, you know, a lot of science is actually speculation. You know, science used to say the world was flat. And then, oh, no, no, no, it's round. And every day science is changing. There's changing what they're saying. I honestly, when I walk out at night by the ocean underneath the stars, it takes way more faith for me to believe that this was just kind of accidentally happened than to believe that someone put time and thought into it. When I think about music and the intricate way the notes work together, there is no way to me that that is some cosmic accident. And I believe with all my heart that God created it. There's so much design. And if the earth was any closer to the sun, it would burn up. If it was any further away, we'd all freeze. Like, there's just no way to me. So that's what Leo has to say about that. Totally agree.
All right. You have been listening to Live from the Path. That was a little bit of good advice or think twice. Yeah. Yeah. We'll have to talk about it. Dan? What do you think? What? Helpful? What were you at on good advice or think twice? What about it? I think we need more popular phrases. Those are kind of offbeat. I'll see what I can find out. Get something Michael Jackson said. We'll talk about it. Ow! Beat it. Good advice or think twice. Good advice or think twice. All right. So you've been listening to Live from the Path. We have been talking with We Are Leo. Make sure you check out their new album. It's Hello. And you can get it on iTunes, yes? Yep. Okay. And then you can check out their Facebook page or on the Twitter.
And yeah, just make sure you're checking them out. Be on the lookout for dates and support them live. Here's the deal. It's very cool to come and check out and buy their CDs and stuff. But you've got to give them some live love. Make sure you're checking out where they're going to be. Get in a bus. Find a guy with a van. A legitimate guy in a van. Don't just find somebody. Not just anybody. Get a legitimate van. That would be not sound advice. Okay. And go check out We Are Leo. I think twice. Live from the Path. Woo! That's right. We are Live from the Path. Check us every Monday night from 10 to midnight. Thanks so much for listening. We will see you next week.
