Segments

  • Chris Day song 'Expecting Great Things' plays 50:27–53:24
The stripped portion opens with Chris Day's song 'Expecting Great Things' playing in full. The lyrics center on coming to lift the name of Christ and expecting God to demonstrate his power. A host reacts afterward, calling it a good track and asking about the album.
  • Hosts discuss expecting great things from God 53:37–57:26
A host shares that he has been thinking about not putting God in a box and denying God's power by assuming he will not act (seg-00049 to seg-00057). Guest Chris Day (speaker-2) responds that scripture calls believers to approach God with confidence and ask, noting the line about expecting great things started to make sense the more he read scripture (seg-00058 to seg-00063). The hosts then discuss moving beyond a posture of only repentance into the abundant life and joy God gives (seg-00066 to seg-00077).
  • Interview: Chris Day's ministry in Newell and move from Nebraska 57:28–1:01:38
The hosts interview Chris Day (speaker-2), who is from Newell, Iowa and serves as associate pastor of youth at Bethel Baptist, overseeing student ministry and worship (seg-00080 to seg-00083). He recounts six years in Ogallala, Nebraska, moving back to Iowa to be near family, and being close enough to be present when his father went through colon cancer and a long ICU stay (seg-00101 to seg-00115). His former pastor affirmed the move might be God planting the desire, and an Exodus passage about Moses returning to his family confirmed it for him (seg-00117 to seg-00131).
  • Apologetics: defending the faith with gentleness and respect 1:01:38–1:12:12
After plugs for Chris Day's album on iTunes, Facebook, and ReverbNation (seg-00136 to seg-00138), a host asks about his monthly Wednesday apologetics night for students (seg-00144 to seg-00153). Chris cites 1 Peter 3:15-16: always be ready to give an account of the hope within, with gentleness and respect, noting believers often leave off the gentleness and respect (seg-00165 to seg-00168). The hosts discuss today's marketplace of competing beliefs and the need to explain what distinguishes Christianity (seg-00173 to seg-00187). A host recounts being asked how he knows his religion is the true one and answering with an analogy of someone questioning whether his wife is real (seg-00213 to seg-00221). They close by proposing a future apologetics show with Chris (seg-00209 to seg-00212).
  • 'Greater You God' by David Bishop 1:12:13–1:17:27
Chris introduces a song his friend David Bishop wrote in 2012 when they led worship together in Nebraska; it is about God's greatness, seated above all thrones and over everything (seg-00231 to seg-00242). The song 'Greater You God' then plays in full (seg-00246 to seg-00284).
  • Hosts react: sovereignty lyrics, album plug, Zune banter 1:17:37–1:23:07
The hosts praise the song's lyrics about the sovereignty of God; Chris argues for simple, theologically rich worship songs over thin 'happy happy Jesus' tunes, though such songs have their place (seg-00285 to seg-00299). A host reads the iTunes album URL and ID for 'Our Great Redeemer' and notes it is track eight (seg-00304 to seg-00308). They riff on Chris's nearly identical T-shirts and cover art (seg-00309 to seg-00321), then tease Dan about his Zune and PC loyalty, dubbing him the 'technological correspondent Dan Hudson' (seg-00329 to seg-00335).
  • News: the stolen heart of Saint Lawrence O'Toole 1:23:07–1:28:44
A host reads a news story: the 900-year-old preserved heart of Dublin's patron saint, Saint Lawrence O'Toole, was stolen from its iron cage in Christchurch Cathedral with no sign of break-in (seg-00341 to seg-00344). The hosts riff that a cat must have stolen it, escalating to a panther (seg-00347 to seg-00378). They debate relic veneration, with 'Ben's word of the wise' advising not to leave a heart in the open air at a church for people to take (seg-00362 to seg-00364).
  • Interview: gigging versus leading worship 1:28:47–1:31:00
A host asks Chris whether performing gigs differs from leading worship; Chris says he is not a performer but a worshipper, and performing feels like a normal service where people just are not singing (seg-00387 to seg-00399). The hosts riff on the habit of calling out the next verse quickly before singing it, a holdover from hymnal days when you might skip verses (seg-00401 to seg-00405).
  • 'Glory Shines' by Chris Day 1:31:01–1:36:57
Chris introduces 'Glory Shines,' written in November 2011 and not on the album; he tried to move away from pronoun-heavy modern worship writing by actually using names for God (seg-00412 to seg-00426). The song then plays in full (seg-00428 to seg-00494).
  • Hosts react to 'Glory Shines' 1:37:07–1:38:38
A host says the chorus soars and would make a great alarm-clock song to inspire the day (seg-00495 to seg-00496); another imagines a huge orchestration behind it (seg-00497 to seg-00499). The hosts ask to play auxiliary percussion on Chris's next album and reveal they are themselves musicians, a bass player and a keyboard player (seg-00502 to seg-00503).
  • Break bumper: Wayne Stewart clip 1:38:38–1:41:04
A host announces a three-to-five-minute break and plays a clip from Wayne Stewart, who was on the show last week, directing listeners to reverbnation.com (seg-00504 to seg-00506). A worship song by Stewart plays (seg-00507 to seg-00528).

you are an all consuming fire We worship you

with holy fear and die. Let our praises rise to you.

Let our praises rise to you. As we sing holy

holy are you god and worthy worthy

is the lamb you're faithful you're just and true Holy

holy are you god. Yeah. That is a good one to fire up. Yeah. That was hip.

I like it how it turns, what do I I don't know how to describe it. Like, but, like, like, the just before it, the like, during the chorus part, it, like, it it it changed to a more a more, like, driving rhythm, and then it went back to to rocking again. I don't know. It was cool. It was it was a nice little change, though. I liked it a lot. Yeah. I think that's very Thanks. Now, so is that one on you have some you have an album for sale.

You can find it on iTunes. Is that one on it? That one is on it. That's actually the first track. Alright. Alright.

Expecting great things. I like that. I've been thinking about that this week, actually, about, generally speaking, not not putting God in a box. Not putting God in a, in in a worldly box that says, these are the things he will or won't do.

If he hasn't said he won't do it, don't take it off the table that he could do it. Right. Yeah. And and and sometimes we are we deny his power by assuming that he won't demonstrate his power. And, I don't know. I don't know. That's I've been thinking about that this this week, and I, there was a part in there where he said, you know, like, we come and are expecting great things. And I and I think sometimes we we cut God in our own mind down,

and and and by doing so, sometimes fail to recognize him because we assume that he will not act in that way. He will not act powerfully. He will not act even out of even within his own character, we don't recognize him. I don't know. I agree. Yeah. Well, you know, I think a lot of times too that we I think sometimes we feel a little awkward like we can't expect God to do things or we can't expect things from God, but yet scripture tells us time and time again to

when we approach God through prayer, we're supposed to approach him with confidence and ask. Yeah. And so it's like, you know, we can't expect things because God wants to do things. So it's just simply coming to him. And I felt really awkward putting that line in at first. Yeah. But then the more I started reading scripture and the more I started thinking about it, it just really started making sense that, you know, we we should be expectant because God is a great God and he can do great things. It started to make sense. Yeah. Well, Jesus said we have not because we ask not. You know, A lot of times we don't ask him like, well, he can't do it or he won't do it.

I think we we get stuck in this stage of, you know, like, when we when we when you come to to know God, and and you get to the stage of repentance, I mean, there is the, you know, the Isaiah, I'm a man of unclean lips. I recognizing where you're at, compared to the glory of God. There is that.

But if we don't ever get it's not beyond that because, like, we I mean, that's that's gonna that's present always. Yeah. But recognizing that that is not the, that's not the end of the story. Because if that was the end of the story, it's it'd be a crappy story for us. Right? Mean, would it? Yeah. Like, ultimately, if it's like, oh, I just realized how how junk I am. Well, the end, that stinks. But but the whole the full council of god, the the whole story is is that, we stink, but he's awesome. Yeah. And and even through that and even though we stink, you know, through his through his work and and then through our being able to to to understand him, we can expect great things. That's, like, that's how you end up living

life abundantly is is recognizing, you know, how gracious God is, not only through salvation, but, I mean, through through his counsel on how to live live a life that doesn't reflect your nature. And, I know sometimes I think we don't get beyond that. Like, if it feels so, I I think, appropriate to be, to be repentant,

and and to recognize, you know, where you're at compared to God. But, you know, if we don't ever move beyond that, it's just a it's a way for us not to live out that abundant life and that joy that that otherwise God has given us the ability to do. I like it. What are doing over there? I wasn't paying attention. Didn't hear. Hear what you think that you said there, Ben. Hey, what'd you do to my thing? God took care of you. Man. Hold on a second. It's totally broken. Did you not pay attention? I'm cutting you out. My mic's got some problems. Hold on second. So so you're from from Newell. Right.

What do you do there? Are you are you a worship pastor? I mean, are you. Yeah. Just. I'm the associate pastor of Youth of Bethel Baptist. Okay. So, I oversee all the student ministry stuff but I also oversee the worship ministry too. Cool. Cool. That's I mean, that's a

I can't leave you alone for a second. Ned's our lead interview, man. When all things look like they're going down, Dan takes over. I I'm just kinda think. I'm just So your first name. That's crazy. Yeah. How'd you come up with that? No. I I was just looking at a a Googled map. You know? It's kinda like it's it's kinda an island out there. It's it's a it's a smaller town. Yeah, it's about nine twenty people. Okay. Yeah. So, so I'm just trying like do do they do they like your style of music or they they want to really want the hymns or they do a blend or is there a battle over that? I I don't I don't want to start any big fights. I'm just, you know, sometimes you get a little rural. It gets a little more It's the gospel of jets and sharks.

Yeah. Come on. Hymns. Hymns.

Modern Jesus. No. I I I appreciate appreciate what what what you got going there. It's No. Thanks. And we we do a blended service. Uh-huh. We try really hard to make it fifty fifty. Mhmm. 50 him 50% hims, fifty percent Fifty fifty hims. You know, and that's over a six month period of time. It's not like you might walk in some week and go, well, they don't do hems. Right. We do, but Sure. Sure. We try to blend it very well. Yeah. How's

how did you end up at Newell? God. He does that stuff. You know? Yeah. No. I

I was in Oglala, Nebraska for six years before I came to Newell. It's one of those things where being at that time, let's see, that's four years ago, so being 32 and single,

really wanted to be closer to my immediate family. And that actually ended up being a really good thing. A year and a half ago, my dad went through colon cancer. Oh, yeah. And went through a lot of really, really nasty complications. Was in the hospital for like thirty six days. Was in ICU for nine of those thirty six, and for four nights in ICU, they were giving him four percent chance to live to make So it

we Oglala to Burlington, I grew up in Burlington. Okay. That was about a 10.5 drive. Newell to Burlington is about four hours and ten minutes.

So during that time it was really nice to be that close because I could just drop everything and go. Yeah. And not have to worry about the the travel. Oh, yeah. That actually ended up being a really good thing. But how I got to Newell,

my parents asked me one Christmas, would you ever think about moving back to Iowa? And I said, sure, if God opens that door. Yeah, absolutely.

So just started praying about it and approached the pastor of the church I was at, said I'd like to be close for my family. We kinda had the conversation. Thought it was kinda selfish. And then about a month later, he was having his devotions in

Exodus, I believe, where Moses goes to Jethro and says, look, you know, I want to go back and be closer to my family. And what did I mean, God did it, but what did Jethro do? He said, okay. Go back. Yeah. And send him back.

So, you know, our pastor came in and said, you know, I gotta share this with you. This really might not be a selfish thing. This might be God actually planting this in your in your heart saying, it's time for you to go back. So that's actually how I got renewal. Oh, cool. Yeah. That's pretty cool. Yeah. Yeah. God works in in,

you know, providential ways, you know, things happening around you and and he def I I I can see that. Yeah. Absolutely. Interesting. So you can you can learn more about, about Chris. If you go to facebook.com

backslash our great redeemer, which is the name of your of your album. Yeah? Right. And and you can, you can get links to to buy that. If you go to iTunes, you can find it there. If you if you just do a search for, Chris Day, our great redeemer, you can, you can find it there. It'll pop up on iTunes there. Also on, on the reverbation.com and on Facebook, can find him for more more information about Chris. Are you are you still a single man? I'm still single. Yeah. Looking?

I don't have any ladies in mind. It's just a general inquiry. Yeah. I mean, yeah, I'd love to be married and have a family someday. Yeah. Mhmm. What so let me ask you this. So you are you spend you you're you're able to be in in full full time ministry.

We talked just a little bit before the show started about starting a Wednesday night apologetics thing at the church. Tell me a little bit a little bit more about that. Yeah. No doubt. Yeah. We

our student ministry, we've been trying really hard over the last couple of years to to really be grounded and rooted in God's word. I mean, obviously, every minister tries to do that, so it's nothing new. One of my leaders a couple months ago came to me and said, I've got this idea. You know, what would you think about doing an apologetics night once a month on Wednesdays

with the students and said, well, let's kind of flesh it out. So he came up with this idea of what it would look like and we talked through it. And our first one, actually our second one was a couple weeks ago. And you know, we want to want to teach our students about apologetics because apologetics

are so incredibly important. It's important to understand why we believe what we believe. It's important to be able to defend why we believe what we believe, and it's important to be able to do that from a standpoint where we don't come across like Ben and I were talking earlier,

that we don't come across as arrogant. Mhmm. But at the same time knowing that even Jesus said the gospel is offensive to some. So,

you know, if we're doing our job and like in second Peter or first Peter three fifteen and sixteen, it says, always be ready to give an account of the hope that lives within you with gentleness and respect. Well, I think a lot of times we leave off the gentleness and respect, and we just give an account. But a lot of times when we give the account, it's very much in your face. You know, you're you're wrong. Here's why I have the hope, dude. Yeah.

You better forget it too. Yeah. Repent and believe. Right? So so yeah, we're trying to teach them how to how to do apologetics with their friends in a way that is attractive, in a way that because Jesus says that the gospel is offensive to some, we know that some of their friends are just gonna be turned off by it. So we don't need to do the turning off. You know, that's the job of the Holy Spirit. So we're trying to get our kids to to understand that and be able to have good solid answers

for why they believe what they believe. I I think that's more important now than at least than it has been in my lifetime. You know, I grew up in in the eighties. I mean, it was just hey. I mean, it wasn't like everybody did church, but it was, you know, not odd to go to church. There weren't as many voices against

the church and and speaking out and and really making you prove what you believe. You just people, you know, oh yeah, you're one of those people and they just kind of accept it and and really, we're in a in a marketplace right now where there's a lot of beliefs out there and a lot of conflicting ideas. Well, that's even true within the Christian community too, though. You know what mean? Some people some people see like, it's nice to be able to explain what the difference between, you know, the faith that you're trying to purvey and maybe some of the other sex of Christianity that are, I don't either causing trouble at the moment or have gotten themselves embroiled in something that that no one quite understands. You know? And it's it's it it is. It's it's just really nice to be able to talk with any type of knowledge and forethought that you've put into,

your faith. You know? I mean, to to figure out what what it's all about, how you how you can defend it, how it's, you know, fundamentally true. It's a lot more fact based than most people wanna believe. Most people wanna believe it's it's a a a magical sky fairy, you know, that's tricked you into believing that, you know, everything is gonna be dandy. And and that is I couldn't be any further from the truth that the relationship is real and and and historically, apologetics wise, it it proves itself to be fact based and and actual. Especially, you know, we have this

a culture is really big into tolerance and and you know, the idea that we're all we're all right. You know, so some of so somewhat consistent. Well, how what makes your religion right as opposed to what I or what someone else believes? How should I why should I believe it's you have to say? And and that's important. We have an answer. I sometimes I feel inadequate. You know, I'm like a pastor. I'm supposed to know this stuff, you know? And and I know it, but I I too often just say, well, I just know. You know, I mean, come on. We just, you know, come on. You know, apologetics

is huge. Yeah, it is. To for for our kids to to have that ingrained in in in their lives and the critical thinking and and everything. Well and and some of that reinforces,

that that that it's not something to be afraid of. Right? Like, it's not like if you dig deeper, you're gonna find out god is a fraud. And and I think sometimes I think sometimes that feels like the case is like, well, I don't wanna push too far beyond this. Like like, when all those people got slaughtered moving into the the land of Canaan, and the Israelites had to take a bunch of people out. And you're like, oh, I don't know about that, but I better not say anything because otherwise, poof, god disappears. Yeah. Right? Not gonna happen. Where you have a question is not not just a question about the story, but generally a question about what does this what does this tell me about the character of God? Like, what what can I learn about God through this that otherwise, like, obviously, if my reaction is not consistent with something that God has done, I have something to learn there? And it's an opportunity to learn what that is, not not a position of which if you just press a little too far, you're gonna find it that your whole world is gonna crumble. And so and I I think sometimes embracing that as if, I think people get the impression that following Christ is the same thing as, as abandoning your mind as abandoning your mind. God is is the opposite of, believing in a in a world order or even science for that matter. Right? As soon as you say that I follow Jesus, then all of sudden that, you're you're stubborn when it comes to the scientific community. And I, you know, I was talking with my little girl about this the other day. She's, she's four.

And, we were talking about science or whatever. And and, before the school gets to her, I said, well, science is study of how God did things. And that's how I want you to remember science. That's all it is. It's exactly how things work and how God set it up. And, I'm hoping she's gonna say that to somebody when she gets into school. Take that. Take that. Good, Mike. You need to attend the apologetics class that Chris Day is putting on. I can't drive all the way out there. I'm too busy loving Jesus at my house. I don't need your facts. Yeah. I I I think it's I think it's very I think it's very important. And I think I think the thing is is is, you know, it's right to say that people will. There are people that just aren't going to accept it. Mhmm. But but, legitimately, you have people who've been presented with such a different

worldview, and their biggest concern is is is being duped. And the thing is is you can find other

spiritual paths, other religions that they have, you know, tried or fallen into that have ultimately duped them, and they have no reason to think that Christianity is different. Mhmm. They don't. Right. Right. And so, like, you have to walk you have to walk that path with them. You have to, you know, identify, you know, what what is it they were believing that ultimately was not true? What about these other things makes Christianity different,

than those things? Because sometimes the the easiest deceit that the devil can put out there is that there is not a distinction. We should totally do an apologetic show. Chris, you wanna come back for that? Sure. I don't know what you say. You better show up with some stuff now. You can't convince me Jesus ain't real, but I'm not very good at remembering why. I'm totally gonna need help. That's my problem too. It's like, want once I I'll I'll go through the whole process. I'll learn. I'll study, and I'll I'll come to a conclusion and go, okay. That's good. And then I kinda move on. So all the details kinda float out of my mind and and the whole stuff the scripture says not till that float out of your mind. It just kinda floats out of my mind. Yeah. And I'm going on to my next thing because I've already I've established in my own mind why I believe that and why I, you know, I'll go to the wall, die for that.

But sometimes I'm like, because I've actually had this in the last couple weeks. I had a guy ask me. He goes, so how do you know that your religion is is is true is the true religion compared to everyone else's religion? And the first thing in my head was, why don't you shut up? You just did. Okay? It's just stupid face. And and, of course, that's not that's not what came out of my mouth. Right? But I'm like, why do have to ask me that? I love Jesus. I know Jesus loves me. I've had a I've had a love interaction with him. I heard this guy once. He told me. Yeah. There was this guy in a sweet suit, and he was sweating and stuff. And he's like, hey, And I filled him his blanks, and it made so much sense. And I got a tattoo, and all of a sudden, I love Jesus. I don't know what happened. You you know you know, the the the question is weird, though, to the extent that it's like someone came up and asked me and said, hey, man. How do I know your wife is real? You know what saying? Like, someone that you you were in a relationship with Yeah. You know, that you spend time talking to,

writing things to, thinking about, and and and and it has a broad influence in your life. And someone says, hey, man. How do you know that wife of yours is even real? Yeah. I can't pull out the evidence. I'm just like, I I just She's just she's right there. I mean, we we interact all the time. It's it's a real relationship. It's it's and and that's that's, I think, where that reaction comes from is you're like, what what do you mean? She's right there.

How could you say that? But but to to that guy, you have an invisible wife, and you're kinda kooky. I know. Right? What do you say to do like that? Shut up. I'm not good with it. What do you say? We may have to we may have to pay for Mike to go to this apologize class at the I I said something much. Chris Dave Foundation. Online? I said so log on. You should totally do online apologetics classes. That's the best. See how incredulous I just added my job description.

Hey. Let's say let's tell Ben what he should do with his life. This is fun. Ben, in your spare time. Your radio show stinks, dude. Give it up. You should be a shoes.

Oh, hey. You're listening to live from the path. Thanks for joining us so far today. Let's let's continue with the with the tunes from, from Chris Day. Maybe tell a little bit about this, David Bishop number, Greater, Greater You God. Yeah. This is a sign that, a good friend of mine, David, wrote about, what's 2012,

so about six years ago. We were leading worship in Nebraska at the same church together, and, we always kinda used each other as a sounding board for songs. And he'd bring a song in and play it and we talk about it. And I'd bring a song in and play it and we talk about it. And some of the songs were just kinda like, you know what? Maybe you shouldn't bring that out again. But, you know, every now and then, we we we had songs that were really good, and this was a song that he wasn't real sure about when he played it the first time. Said, man, it's a great song. Instantly became one of my favorite worship songs,

you know, ever. And it was when I found out I was gonna record an album about a year, year and a half ago, I called David the the second or the day after I signed my recording contract and said, look, I wanna use your song greater, you God. What do you think? And he said, yeah. Absolutely. Go for it. But the song talks about God's greatness, how God's been seated above

all thrones. You know, he's he's the king over all kings. Nothing else is over God. God is over everything. And just generally the greatness of God and how great God really is. I like it already. Yeah. It sounds true, I think. Love to attend the class. You'll have to email that. So awesome.

The, this is great. Are you God? You're listening to live from the path. Holy beyond your faithful

and true Your justice is secured.

Holy god, you are awesome in praise. Holy god,

you are mighty to say and praise to you god lord of heaven

None is your equal. You're matchless and wonder.

Holy god, you are awesome in praise. Holy god, you are mighty to save

and praise to you god lord of heaven lord of and praise

to you god lord of heaven lord of earth none can compare to you got.

None can compare to you got. None can

compare to you got. Lord of heaven, lord of earth.

Well, that one's fun. Yeah. Is. That one's fun to sing. I I I'm a terrible singer, Chris. I I'm just awful. I was gonna join in. But there's no reason to ruin it, you know? Every time I felt the spirit move me, I I decided it really wasn't the spirit. It was just me making a bad decision. I don't wanna compare it to a slide whistle, but it's kinda and prick. And he's like A slide whistle. Like a slide whistle.

Hey. Just not as, like, circus y, though. He's just being nice. Don't don't talk about his song like that. I really like it. I was trying it out as low as I could to see if I could get away with talking like that. I really like lyrics that talk about the sovereignty of god and and his going back to there are so many other religions out there these days that that that he is he is above all. You know, I just that just gets me going.

We we we just need to really keep affirming that even within the church. Yeah. Because we forget. Well, the thing I like about it is it's a simple song. I mean, nothing about it is complicated. And the words are they're simple and they're concise. You know, they convey a lot of doctrine, a lot of truth, a lot of theology, like you're saying,

you know, about the sovereignty of God. And that's I think that's something that we miss a lot of times, especially in modern worship stuff. Mhmm. And I think we're starting to see it come back, you know, come back to more of a theologically based. Rather than just a happy happy Jesus. Yeah. Yeah. And I mean, you've gotta have those songs too. Sure. Sure. But, you know, we really need a a See, Dave? You thought you were gonna have a bandwagon doof on the happy Jesus tunes, and that's not what happened. Chris said, those are okay. It's balanced. It's all balanced.

That was cool. I'm sorry. Go ahead. Did you wanna make fun of Dan Moore, or did you have more things to say? No. That's it. You're close enough. You could hit him. I can't. I'm elusive. And so that that's number eight on the,

It's facebook.combackslash our great redeemer. And and if you go to his reverb nation page, you know, Chris Chris has a lot of of basically the same shirt. Now there are distinctions between these shirts, but they're subtle. So your job, if really you just have some spare time, just, sit back,

light a candle, listen to some of his tunes, and see how many differences between these shirts you can pick out. You can spend a good two hours doing it. It's a way to spend an evening. Yeah. There it is right there. Loving Jesus, finding distinction in the shirt patterns. Did you find it? Yeah. It's it's under songs. Yeah. Right under tunes. Our great Redarmer, we won't run away. So tap. How how, that's kind of a how did you do your own cover art? Who does your cover art? The label did the cover art. It was pretty cool. Yeah. How do you get a label?

Do you think we have any shot here? Do they does your label do spoken word albums? I accidentally preview played it. I'm sorry. Nice. That sounded good, though. Mighty

mighty fine boys. Mighty mighty fine music. I was trying to look at the at the reviews that Ben saw, and I can't see it. So do do you know there's probably no way to know where these people are living or where they're at, where they're buying tunes. We don't know if it's like, you know, LA is going hot or something. I mean, it's just kind of, you just have so many sales. I mean, you don't know. Yeah. Don't know how that works. I don't know. It's like, you know, even with sales, I don't know where my sales are at right now through like iTunes. Uh-huh. It's a quarterly thing that I'll find out. Pull up in a limo and say, here you go.

Here's your check and some deer sausage. Yes. Make deer sausage level. That's gotta be cool, though. So, like, this came out in 2011. Was it late two eleven? It was September 27. Alright. So relatively new out there. Yeah. It's still pretty new. Still pretty new. Is

this, iTunes is a distribution channel. Do you have it anywhere else where people could pick it up? Amazon. Okay. Cool. Amazon. Digital download on Amazon? Yeah. I like that. Are you on Zune? I'm not. Dan, no one uses Zune. I'm a Zune guy. No. No. Zune. I I I have an IBM. They're keeping open the Zune marketplace for Dan Hudson over IBM and a Zune. Dan's 1997. Whatever the thing is, you know, it's it's not a Mac. I'll put up with that way. I have a PC.

Why would I put a Mac software on his PC? It messes it up. Dan, I don't think you do. Forget it. Forget it, Dan. Dan's been indoctrinated. We're going to technological correspondent Dan Hudson. So I was cranking up the Zoom. Heck, I have solar panels. Oh, yeah. Hey. You're listening live from the Path. We're in studio with a special guest, Chris Day. You can find out more information about him by going to facebook.com

backslash our great redeemer. That will be his music page. Make sure you like it and buy stuff from him. It's a good encouragement. It's a good investment. Yeah. It is a good investment. They've they've shown that, proof that digital downloads hold its value because there's no degradation of quality. Just as good as the day that you bought it. Actually, isn't that bad for the industry? A bit? What's that? Just just leave what I said as it was. I mean, it was solid gold. I'm sorry. Yeah. I know. I'm very sorry about that. Stick with it. So let me ask this question, fellas.

Have you ever had your heart stolen? Okay. I I didn't follow this when it came out the first time. Like, I'm gonna help. I'm here to help. Alright. Well, tell okay. You just tell me how you can help, and I'll tell you if it applies to me. Okay. Police in Ireland are studying security camera footage from a cathedral in Dublin after the preserved heart of the city's patron saint was stolen over the weekend. The 900 year old heart of Saint Lawrence O'Toole was taken from the iron cage where it is normally kept in Christchurch Cathedral. Police and the cathedral said, the bars were wrenched open, allowing access to the heart shaped wooden box that held the relic bolted to a wall in Saint Lawrence Chapel. Per the Irish police. Security cameras over the cathedral's welcome desk, but not the interior of the chapel or the cathedral. The heart disappeared between Friday evening and Saturday noon. Cathedral staff called the disappearance of the relic truly awful and strange and said they were shocked and saddened. Added to the mystery, there was no sign of a break in, and nothing was taken from the chapel other than the heart. Although Irish media said gold candlesticks and other valuables were also there.

Now wait a minute. Is it stuffed? No. Is it a stuffed heart? It's preserved. Like like what? What? How did they do that? Maybe it was a cat. You think a cat came in and stole the heart? No. It's a heart. I don't know. You know that's not good. Beef jerky.

Heart jerky. I know. Okay. So not only did the cat steal it is he put it in a dehydrator and then passed out to his cat. Well, how many 100 years old is it? I think it's pretty dried out. Well, maybe they kept it in the icodines. Oh, two oh, so he was born in, 11/28, lived until 1180, and was made a saint in 12/25.

Wow. Can you apply yourself to be a saint? No. This other people have to know. That's not his fault. He didn't Jesus has to do that. He did, he Become a believer. Now see, this guy didn't know about that before. Uh-huh. Yeah. He's not like he said he has the application before he was gonna die and said, you know, put me up for sainthood. They didn't even have the King James back then. Boys. Well, he was prince I mean, none of them went to heaven. Do they had a prince James, bible version? That'd be funny. Prince.

It was before the King James. That's funny to, a ten ten year old, 10, 11 years old. That's funny. Maybe not to adults or people who have any type of discernment. But totally to the layperson, that's funny. I'm no stuffed shirt. I'll laugh it up. It's not it's not big enough. No. It's great.

So, anyway, I can help with the stolen heart. If your heart's ever been stolen, Ben's word of the wise, don't keep it in the open air at a church for people to take. For thousands years. Sacred, though? Can you not can you not keep anything in the lord's house? People steal it. That's kinda creepy that they have, like, his his his act his part. What are they gonna sell it? I yeah. Hold on. What are gonna do with this? Hold on. It's just like the tattoo thing. You know I'm saying? Like, you might just you might just be moving your object of affection just somewhere where it not might not belong. You know? Like, the heart of this dude I mean, it's either Jesus' indwelling presence in him that's important or or it ate. Like, go ahead and bury the heart. The actual organ itself, you could just, you know, slice up and serve for dinner to do you about the same purpose.

Or you mean you don't have It doesn't look that well protected, to be honest with you. Like, when they said it's in a box, I mean Do you have a picture? Yeah. They're like slots. Hold on. I'll I'll find it. Do a bunch of business for just a minute. Dan, have you ever been tempted to steal an organ? You know, when I was a kid, I used to eat liver, but I never stole it. My mom bought it at the store.

I used to think I'd look good in a ZZ Top beard, but I couldn't I can't grow one of my own. So I I mean, I contemplated stealing it from him, but I mean, I don't think it was worth it in the end. You know? So Yeah. Yeah. They'd they'd recognize it. Yeah. Mean I have it like on album covers and stuff. You wouldn't get very close. Whoops. What if they ever get that thing caught in the car door? Don't be there. Videos with the cars, you know, like, they're a long beard. I think they know better than that after a while. Just like that lady with the super long fingernails. What's There it is. That's the

That's what I'm saying. Does that does that look very security? Not even the clothes. You're gonna put somebody's heart in there? That looks like a cage. Yes. It looks like soldered copper pipes put together on a wall. I'm just saying, like, if you if you Put your parrot. If it meant enough to, like, preserve a heart and, like, I think I would protect it better. Look at the holes in the wall. I mean, that cage looks like it was, like, thrown together. It doesn't look like it was made for the Dan's right. I think a cat got it. That's a good thought, Dan. I think it did. Dan is right on this deal. I think a cat got into it. By the looks of it, it might have been more like a panther.

See? That's some strength. Dan, you get an itch and you take a mile. You'll see. A little cat can't rip that. You said one reasonable thing, and all of a sudden, it's a panther. Alright. Anyway. Anyway, here it is. You know what it looks like? A panther? The pink panther?

Here to help with your troubles that stole hard life in the past. That's that's it, fellas. See how I played that up to make it sound like it was gonna be love advice. Okay. That's what gets him in. Wait. Hold hold on. Hey. Hold on, Mike. Hold on.

Let's do another let's let's talk to Chris some more. You're gonna about to rip into something. No. I wasn't. Hey. So do you have are you a are you a gigging man? Do you have gigs around town? I've had some. I've had some. It's mainly mainly going to lead worship for different camps and whatnot.

But last Saturday, I actually had two in one day. Oh, sweet. Up in Spencer. So that was that was a lot of fun. I mean, I suppose that they're they're different, you know, between playing like a show for somebody and and lead worship.

Do you find yourself if you spend a lot of your time leading worship, do you is it is it still comfortable to go out and kind of actually just perform for folks as opposed to leading them, or is that a weird transition for you? Or how is it? No. You know, I always try to be upfront and to say, know, I'm not a performer. I'm a worshipper. Mhmm. And you know, I don't know if you'll, you know I don't know if people can tell a difference. I think people can. Yeah.

But you know, when I'm up there, it's just like I'm leading, but people aren't singing. So it's like normal. It's a regular service. Just like home. I try I say the verses really quickly before I sing them, and then we all try to sing them together. Jesus loves me this. Know. Jesus

loves me. That's all worth worth it. You know what's the word? I think I think they have to teach you that in, your worship pastor college. Like, to say the verse super fast so everyone knows what the new next verse is, and then be ready to sing it regular when it shows up. That's a hold that's a holdover. That's a holdover from when they used to use the hymnal were four verses, and maybe you didn't do all four. So, like, you gave the start of the next one. But somehow, it's crept its way into modern worship where the verses are like, oh, on the screen. You don't need to do that anymore. You can't shake it. Yeah. Or or when you're singing a song that isn't in the hymnal. Yeah. But it's everybody's favorite. Yeah. But we bought the new hymnal that didn't have that song. Yeah. That back in the day, that was kind of always the issue. You know. That was the big thing. Who took family of god out of the hymnal? I'm so glad. I'm apart. Come on. I'm apart. Everybody knows that one. I'm watching the bottom. I can't I can't find the old one. I dedicated that to my aunt Vern.

What'd you do with the old him? That was it started as a legitimate question, Chris. It had every opportunity to go on a positive bettor. It could be a panther. It could be.

You never know. Alright. So I tell you what, let's before the 11:00 hour, let's let's sneak in another tune. Tell me a little bit about Glory Shines.

Glory Shines. It's I've been trying to take a move in writing songs where I've noticed that I've started to fall into the typical pattern that I don't like as far as modern worship and use a lot of a lot of you. You know, although although I know it's referencing God or Christ,

you know, I'm trying to take a step back and actually use names Yep. Instead of just pronouns. I've noticed that I've written a lot of stuff that's we or I as well. And so I wanted to try to write a song that didn't do any of that, which I failed. But

but Mister Panther. Came up came up with a song. I actually wrote this this last November 2011. So this is not on the album. It's a song that we've actually just recently started doing with our student ministry.

It just talks about the glory of God and how glory God's glory shines. It's just really that simple. Awesome. Alright. Well, let's, let's get it on. This is, glory shines. You're listening to Chris Day on live from the path. You came to earth.

The word became flesh. You walked among us. We showed you the cross.

And through your death, We are made victorious over the grave.

Your glory shines brighter than the sun.

Your patience is kind in drawing us to you and Jesus glory

is what we seek to give You came to work, The word became flesh. You walked among

us. We showed you the cross. Through your death, we are made victorious

over the grave. Your glory shines brighter than the sun. Your patience is kind.

Drawing us to you. Jesus glory

is what we seek to give deserve all honor and praise your glory

shines hallelujah to shines

brighter than the sun your patience is kind drawing us to you.

Jesus' glory is what we seek to give. Deserve

all honor and praise your glory shines Your glory shines. It shines.

Your glory shines. Your glory shines.

It shines. You came to work, the word became flesh. You walked among

us, we showed you the cross. And through your death, we are made victorious

over the grave. Hey, man. That's that chorus soars. Yeah. It does. It soars. I'm gonna have to become a better singer so I can rock out to Chris Day action. You ever get one of those tunes like every once in while, you hear those tunes that you wish you could do program to be on your alarm clock tune? You know, when you wake up at the morning, if you heard it, you'd be, like, super inspired to rock the day. I think that'd be one of them. I think I'd throw that on my alarm clock too.

Please don't leave. Please don't leave. I'm gonna ruin it. I I I just I like when I was listening, I was thinking, especially during that during the chorus, just think of this huge orchestration behind it. Right? With the the the the glory shine things kinda riding on the top of just a just a lot of stuff, like, culminating in this in this massive chorus. Yeah. I may have overdone it in my mind, Chris, but I that that was in my head while you're singing it. I think it's awesome. Yeah. No. I I think you're right. I think when it I think if you had a full band to put behind it, could do a lot of layering. I think you could make it really, because that, you're right, the chorus is huge, and really the bridge, you could draw the bridge out a little bit better,

and the bridge would just explode and then the chorus would explode right after, you know, go right into the chorus. Just really huge. It can certainly be. Yeah. It'd be epic. Like, it'd be just be like the monster of the album. Yeah. I want I want hey. If you record that for your next album, can we come in and be on it? Can we play auxiliary percussion? Like, it's something you don't have to turn it up or anything. No. You could just tell us we were on the thing. Okay. Yeah. Sweet. Done. Awesome. Alright. They they won't say this, they're actually quite talented musicians. Really? Yeah. That's that's that's here or there. Glorious. No. I'm not singers. No. I'm an awful I'm an awful singer. Bass player, keyboard player. Speaking of another excellent singer, hey. We're gonna take a quick break. We'll be right back in about, about three to five minutes. I'm gonna put on a little bit of, Wayne Stewart who was on the show last week.

Make sure you, you check him out. He's on, reverbation as well. Just go to reverbation.com look for Wayne Stewart. Here's a little clip from him. He was on the last week at Live in the Path. We'll be back in around three to five minutes. We have gathered here

with one purpose. What a worship event. So as we lift our hearts

in offering of praise, let's worship Countering

is the presence. How can we not be changed? Fix

worship him, folded by his mercy.

Let his healing flow as we're fixing
