  • Opening banter: Christmas extravaganza recap and tonight's lineup 0:08–4:46
The hosts open live from the Pathway Studios in Johnston with banter about 'subtractive edition' editing, then recap the recent Christmas extravaganza (poorly attended Wednesday night in a blizzard) and a low-key New Year's Eve year-in-review broadcast. A host lays out tonight's lineup: Onyx 2 in studio, proof 30 of the God-is-Imaginary series, and Dear LFTP advice on buying raw milk from the Amish.
  • Sponsor reads 4:48–6:43
Sponsor mentions for Capano's Coffee and Gelato in Ames on Lincoln Way, Valley Services Cleaning (ValleyServices.net), and OnPurposePromos.com (Jared Roy does the show's shirt work). The hosts riff on mocha with cinnamon and an imagined gelato fight.
  • Interview: Onyx 2 introduces themselves 6:43–10:22
The hosts interview Christian contemporary duo Onyx 2, Denise Forney and Suzy Robes-Wongerman. The women explain they met around 2008 singing backup at a local church, started playing as a duo around 2010, and released their first CD 'Lessons Learned' at the end of August at the Iowa State Fair. They explain the Onyx 2 name: the onyx stone rolled away at Easter, darkness reflecting light. The 'year of the microphone' running gag recurs throughout.
  • 'Walk Away': song story and live performance 10:22–15:43
One of the Onyx 2 women tells the story behind 'Walk Away': the chorus came to her heart and head and she wrote it on a steering wheel (on a candy wrapper) while driving, then finished the verses with her partner about a year later. The duo performs the song live in studio.
  • Post-song banter: 'Walk Away' and the CD 15:45–18:28
The hosts praise the performance (a host notes he's never heard Mike call something 'pretty') and draw out the song's message: at the moment you most want to give up, that is the time to actually give up and let God take care of it. They plug the 'Lessons Learned' CD, available at Cafe Hope and at live shows, and mention an upcoming Onyx 2 show at Fire Creek Grill in West Des Moines on February 27th.
  • God-is-Imaginary proof 30: 'Examine God's sexism' (read aloud) 18:28–22:22
The hosts begin week 30 of their walk through godisimaginary.com's 50 proofs, reading this week's proof largely verbatim. The proof argues the Bible's God is an 'absurd, unmitigated jerk' rather than all-loving, citing 1 Corinthians 14 (women silent in churches), 1 Timothy 2 (no woman to teach or have authority), Genesis 17 (circumcision covenant with males only), John 20 ('touch me not'), and 1 Peter 3:7 ('weaker partner'), plus rhetorical questions about women disciples, elders, and Bible authors. The proof concludes that modern societies reject the Bible's sexism, which proves 'God is imaginary.'
  • Rebuttal of the sexism proof: context, marriage, and responsibility 22:23–34:25
The hosts push back on the proof point by point: the proof author is ignorant of what the verses mean, and the rest of the Bible humbles men too — worth comes from having a Savior who died, for men and women alike. They walk through 1 Peter 3:7's 'weaker partner' as a potter's fine-china analogy (delicate, valuable, treated with special care, not abused), Ephesians 5's call for husbands to love like Christ loved the church (an awesome, humbling responsibility), and the Corinthian context (men and women seated apart, shouting questions across the room, so 'be silent' addressed disorder). Headship is framed as responsibility for the marriage covenant, not authority, citing Malachi 2 and Proverbs 2. They argue abusive readings come from misunderstanding Christ, not from misunderstanding gender roles. Comedy bits punctuate: the Roman 'pater familius' spelling bee, Dan's purple t-shirt and 'Barney' birthday-party singing, and a caveman-club submission gag. The Onyx 2 women weigh in: God calls us to out-serve each other, and God doesn't keep score.
  • Proof 31 teaser and the performer's desk bit 34:25–36:39
The hosts close out 'God's 30 for 30' (God 30, imaginary man 0) and preview proof 31, 'Understand that religion is superstition,' reading its opening about an all-observing news network and the problem of suffering. They riff on a fictional Onyx 2 'performer's desk' that sponsors could fund.
  • 'You Are Mine': the song's origin story 36:39–39:22
One of the Onyx 2 women tells how 'You Are Mine' — the first song they wrote — poured out of her while she was crying on the couch during a hard season, after feeling urged by her heavenly father to go to the piano; Denise had just invited herself over for lunch and entered them in a talent show. The song's heart: 'You are mine, I am yours, I want you back, I don't keep score' — a God who calls the broken back no matter what they've done. The hosts tease Dan about being asked to sing along.
  • Onyx 2 performs 'You Are Mine' live 39:32–44:08
Onyx 2 performs 'You Are Mine' live in studio with guitar and their trademark harmonies; Dan audibly joins in singing at points ('Dan only sings suspended seconds').
  • Harmonies praise, upcoming guests, broadcast info 44:10–46:28
The hosts praise the duo's harmonies ('as if you're one person') and note the CD is at Cafe Hope on Jordan Creek. They tease a band that has visited two or three times without ever recording a CD, then announce Cass Lester and Double J visiting on the 21st (at the Volody Muse on the 17th with Echo, whose 'Broken Connection' album is out) and Aarondale returning in February — with a running joke that Aarondale owes a host $15. Broadcast info: live Monday nights 10–11 at livefromthepath.org, Saturdays 10pm on 99.3 KTIA.
  • Dear LFTP: the illegal Amish raw-milk run 46:28–54:14
Mike, addressed by name on air, wants to buy raw milk from the Amish for his wife, but raw milk sales are illegal in Iowa. The hosts riff on the absurdity of the transaction — an undisclosed drop location, money left and milk appearing, 'Miami Vice' with the Amish — and conclude he must obey the laws of the land or work to change them (Pennsylvania or California being legal states). The banter spirals: an Amish auction story (an Amish man who buys power tools he can't use and resells them on eBay), almond milk tasting 'like toenails,' and a planned disguised road trip with ZZ Top beards to fetch milk. KTIA radio listeners are signed off for the night.
  • Dear LFTP: the widow cropped out of the church directory 54:14–59:21
A listener writes that her husband died a year ago; four days after the funeral she received the church pictorial directory with his image cropped out of their couple photo, and the cropped photo is also on the bulletin board with two other cropped widows' photos. The hosts say she's not overly sensitive — cropping a deceased person out without asking is invasive, though likely a socially-inept mistake rather than malice; they would have printed the full photo, since everyone knew him. They joke about church bulletin boards and suggest she tell church staff to check with families before doctoring photos. The Secular answer: tell whoever is in charge and the clergyman how she felt and ask for a replacement photograph to be taken and displayed.
  • Dear LFTP: the panhandlers who declined the groceries 59:21–1:08:14
A listener offered a panhandling couple (with a baby and toddler, sign asking for food help) her family's dinner groceries — premium spaghetti sauce, ground beef, spaghetti, fruit cups, canned soup — but the man declined and suggested she go to an ATM and withdraw cash instead. The hosts debate: raw ground beef is useless on a street corner, and the 'premium sauce' framing was a bit self-righteous; graciously accepting unusable help is the kind option. One host recounts an anecdote about 'Doug,' who offered a hungry man dinner and coffee but refused cash when the man preferred money and smelled of alcohol. The Secular answer: some families are truly in need and should be guided to a shelter; some are professional panhandlers whose tax-free money does quite well. The discussion devolves into comedy about homelessness hypotheticals, rooster panhandling, and chasing raw Amish milk.
  • Sign-off: prayer request and sponsor thanks 1:08:15–1:08:34
The hosts close the show: they ask listeners to pray that the show's discussion would glorify God, thank the sponsors whose money keeps them on the air, and remind listeners they're live every Monday night from 10 to 11pm at livefromthepath.org.

Live from the Pathway Studios in Johnston proper. You are live from the path. Is that disingenuous of me? Yeah. It's best to assume all are there. They always say it's better to do subtractive edition than it is edition edition. You know what I'm saying? Like start with everything and lose and try to build. I've been out of school for years. I don't know what it is that you're saying to me. Subtractive edition? Yeah. What's that new math, Ben? It's common in the technical world. Oh. We use it all the time. I don't do things like that. You know very little. All right. Hey, you're listening to Live from the Path. Thank you so much for hanging out. And we have, it's good to be back. We haven't been in the studio for at least two weeks. A sabbatical. I tell you what.

We had one wingding of a semi-poorly attended Christmas extravaganza. Oh, it was fantastic. So I said, dude, we don't do it on a Wednesday night. It's going to be a blizzard. And Mike goes, no, no, no, no, no. No, no. Put this thing out there. People are going to show up. It's Wednesday. That's the thing to do. Three months out, he says it. And so I said, fine. I trust you, Mike. You're a good brother. I believe you. And so I set it up on Wednesday. And sure enough, it blizzards like a mad fiend out there. Now, hold on. Paul said, rather not be wrong. So I'm going to let you go away with the statement that you're using here. But it's pretty obvious that I didn't set this thing up. I couldn't organize two boxes in a row. Okay. That's a solid point. So anyway, it was the Christmas extravaganza was very, very cool.

The content was awesome. Yeah. It was a great night. It really was. Arendelle did a great job. He brought together some wild swinging singers. Anyway, it's awesome. I'm excited. We're going to do it again next year. And I've talked Mike out of that Wednesday. I think it's a mistake. I'm out of mistakes for this year even. I can't even commit anymore. And then we did a year in review last year. It was New Year's Eve. You know, it could be me. But I didn't feel like a lot of people were checking out the Life in the Path radio broadcast on New Year's Eve. I didn't. Yeah. Yeah. So anyway. Dan was in sleep by 10. I might have been. I went to bed at 10 to midnight. I thought it's not even worth it.

I'm just going to sleep. Might as well kick off the New Year right with an extra 10 minutes. Should I? Exactly. I let my kids stay up. They were intent on checking out this ball drop, right? And the one's five and the other one's two. And the two-year-old could have stayed up another six hours. I mean, she was wound for sound. The five-year-old was dying at 11.45. Couldn't take anymore and about passed out. I said, all right, well, you did your best. I was going to put you in bed two hours ago, but you said everything was going to be great. And they were being well-behaved. And I said, you can stay up to the New Year if you want. Mistake. The two-year-old was up at five the next morning looking for more action. You couldn't get her down. She loves life. Anyway, it's good to be back in the studio. Here's what we've got coming on tonight. So the ladies from Onyx 2 are in studio. And I very much appreciate them coming out. And we're going to hear some songs from them. They've got a new CD out.

And they'll be excited to get to know them, hear about their songs, and listen to them perform. And also, we're on our God is Imaginary Man. And it's fitting. There's nary a lady in the studio ever. Although Bethany Joy Johnson was in here a month or so back. She was. And that's about it. Boova wore a wig one time. But that's to the extent of the ladies in the studio. And so, but the God is Imaginary proof is basically, look how sexist God is. And so we're going to walk through his proof of how God is imaginary. And it'll be interesting to look at his perspective. And he does bring up verses that are generally of discussion, even in the Christian community. So we'll kind of talk through that. I'm actually kind of disappointed. I had some very chauvinist type things to say. I feel like I'm going to be muted just for social proparity. The one way to the left. That's why they called it Deuteronomy. You know what I'm saying? That only plays in Christian circles. That joke's not funny on its own. We've also got some advice on Dear Life in the Path. Mike wants to, or at least discuss, buying illegal milk from the Amish. I don't see the problem.

You know, they've outlawed something that doesn't need to be outlawed. If I want to buy fresh milk from the Amish, I don't see why I shouldn't be able to do it. So we're going to talk about that. I don't know. I feel like that'll tap out the show. And in case you've never heard the program before, I do want to make sure that you know that Life in the Path is brought to you by the generous sponsorship of Capano's Coffee and Gelato in Ames on Lincoln Way. If you want to get a good cup of coffee, go to Capano's Coffee and Gelato. I like that. They do. I don't buy. I'd like wheat coffee, like truck stop coffee. That's generally what I drink. Yeah. Kind of the half-folder stuff. Don't look at me like that. But I like the mocha. They make a mean Mexican, Mex mocha. And so. That's the one with the cinnamon in it. Yeah, I think so. Yeah. It makes me feel exotic. I like it.

I've never had a gelato, which is what else they sell. And I feel like we should fight with it. Like we should have a gelato fight. A gelato off? Yeah. I don't know. I don't know what else. I've never had it personally, like ingested it. So it might be fantastic. I don't know if they war against each other, but we'll pick some up. Okay. Also, Valley Services Cleaning. They do residential commercial cleaning. You're kicking off the year. You might as well kick it off right. Go to ValleyServices.net and sign up and have someone come clean your place. You got better stuff to do in 2013. Hug your kids. Go ice skating. Let someone else clean your place. Go to ValleyServices.net. They are a gracious sponsor. And also, let's say you want a t-shirt, right? You say, Happy 2013. This is my year.

I want to put my face on something. The year of the shirt. Yeah. I want to put my face on things, on mugs, on shirts, other various, an apron that says kiss the bin. Do whatever you want to do, right? I feel like there's only one guy going to buy this. Go ahead. Put your own name on it. Don't order an apron that says kiss the bin with your face on it. That's going to be weird. But anyway, go to OnPurposePromos.com. Jared Roy, who does the shirt work and stuff for the show, will be able to help you out. If you're going to do it, now listen here. Don't just go to some random internet site and do it. If you're going to do it, do it right. And go to OnPurposePromos.com. Get a hold of Jared Roy and he will help you out. And if nothing else, give those guys a call. Send them an email. Say thanks for sponsoring Live from the Path. Because without them, we'd be where we belong doing illegitimate radio late at night in our own country bunker. Indeed. All right.

Anyway, thanks for listening to Live from the Path. All right. I tell you what. Let's get to know the Onyx 2 ladies just a little bit. All right. So hold on. Before we get too far into this, the Live from the Path, this is to the regulars now. This is the year of the microphone. You know what I'm saying, Dan Hudson? This is the year. I don't know what you're saying. That you talk right into it. Are you saying I don't talk into it enough? Like it's your best friend. I love it. 2013, you're the microphone. I feel like I lick it. Love it like Amish milk. That's what he's saying. Get right in there on it. All right. Okay, ladies. Welcome to Live from the Path. Welcome. So for those folks that are listening, just tell us a little bit about yourselves.

Well, my name is Denise Forney. I'm Suzy Robes-Wongerman. And we met about four years ago. We were singing backup for a lot of dudes like yourself at a local church. But we decided, you know what? It would be awesome if we formed our own duo and created a Christian contemporary group called Onyx Tube. So now, what's the name in reference to? Just a couple of Onyxes? We're wearing these rings. Not three. Two. No. That's not it at all. Actually, it was Denise's husband who first came up with the name. Sorry. The Year of the Microphone. The Year of the Microphone. Sorry. We're blundering. But really, it was kind of John that came up with it. And well, we liked the name very, very much. And the Onyx Stone. You say this so well. Just say it.

Oh. It's the dark and the light, and it reflects the light. And we want it. And now I'm… Well, when we were naming ourselves, we were trying to think of Onyx, of course, is a precious stone. And it was the stone that was rolled away, right, on Easter morning. And the darkness that is reflected this, we do belong to a world that's dark and filled of hatred and sin and shame and pain. But we want to be the light. We want to be the light that's reflected. And so when you remove that stone and you put the two of us together, we hope our music brings that kind of light to the world. That was what it was, reflecting God's light. But that's a lot deeper than I… I was thinking, oh, he has darker hair and he has lighter hair. It made sense to me. I was like, I'm really feeling… Yeah, that's bad. Me and Mike had to do what we called Pepper and Shadows. It was the opposite of what we were getting at, so we had to give up on it. We would have been really something, Ben, if you had to give it up on us. Okay, so how long have you been together? You said you just… Four years blew off your tongue, so I'm going with that.

Is that right? Yeah, we met in 2008. It was 2008. And now I guess we're going on our fifth year. I guess we are. We're going to be with each other. But we really started playing music in the community in just like 2010 or so. We recorded our first CD last year and released it at the end of August. It's at the Iowa State Fair. All right. So we're really thrilled. It's called Lessons Learned. And it really deals with a lot of the lessons we've had in our own life, you know, any kind of hurts and habits and hang-ups that we all deal with from time to time. But, you know, just to help those that are dealing with brokenness be able to reflect that there is light in the world and there's a better place for all of us. And just pain, what God can do with your pain and how he can turn. We've all heard this said a million times, but we really do feel like he took our mess and made messages that we could send. And I know that that's kind of trite because a lot of people have said, turn your mess into a message with God. But it is really how we feel. We are totally blessed with messes. Mess, mess, mess, messes. Valley Services Cleaning can help you.

Hey, hey, this is just about her now. I'm good there. I'm good. Okay, cool. Well, I tell you what, let's hear something. Tell me a little bit about the song Walk Away. That one, well, that's interesting because when we first started, you know, she said we wanted to start and go out and sing together and create music. We never really thought, hey, let's go write music. And so all of our songs have come about, we just believe kind of, I mean, like God wrote them through us and there's a message in them. Well, this one, all of our stuff is a collaboration, which is awesome. And we share quite a sisterhood there. But this one, the chorus of this one, actually came right into my heart and head and I wrote it on a steering wheel, which is something you should not do at home or anywhere else or on the road, but I actually wrote it. That seems dangerous what you're talking about here. It seems a little dangerous. But I wrote it. So you weren't texting though. I was not texting. Just writing lyrics. I had not signed any declarations with Oprah Winfrey that would not allow me to write this on my steering wheel, on a little wrapper, like a candy wrapper or something. And I did that and then I put it away.

And then I think it was a good year later that we got together and verses were formed and it all came together. Cool. That's the story on this song. Each one of them has a little bit of a different one. All right. Awesome. Well, I'm excited to hear it. This is Onyx 2 with Walk Away. You're listening to Live from the Path. I never thought it'd turn out quite like this The person in there you hardly recognize these days And you're searching for the missing happiness But there's a little voice inside you That is fighting to get out Your heart kicks and screams and fears And you are filled with doubt Lay it down, walk away Turn your eyes to me and pray This is not who you are I want to find you by your scars Torn and bruised You're confused It feels like you can't face another day But my love remains Just walk away Now I know the path ahead is quite uncertain If you cry I'll be right here to wipe your tears You are scared and tired and I know you are If you let me I will carry all your feet Hear that voice inside and go there Let it fall at my feet Let it fall at my feet I am never far from you I know just what you need Get down, walk away Turn your eyes to me and pray

You are I want to find you by your scars You're confused It feels like you can't face another day But my love remains But my love remains So just walk away Walk to my And there you'll find the chains Get to me Walk away Turn your eyes to me and pray This is not who you are I want to find you by your scars Torn and bruised You're confused Like you can't face another day But my love remains Just walk away Just walk away That was pretty It was pretty I don't do anything pretty I've never heard Mike say that before in his life That was nice though Yeah Thank you, thank you It feels like a nice tune to put on just to kind of hang out You know what I'm saying? Shut the TV off and just dig on it Yeah A hammock and a Bible and a mech smoker Yeah Have some gelato

Yeah Don't fight with it It's quite tasty It's very tasty Just love it Love the gelato Yeah, boy You know, and I think you're right The introduction was spot on talking about that Is that At a time It's weird At the times when you feel most like giving up That's the exact time to actually give up Usually people tell you, no, no, no, fight on But it Yeah Give up Let God take care of it Yeah I love it Pretty Now hold on, is that one on the CD? That's on the CD? Now let's say I wanted to purchase this CD

Where can I get it from? Soon You'll be able to get it online No doubt Right now Right now They sold music on the internet? Right now it's a guy in a trunk He drives around town Here they do Yeah We're looking into that But no, you can get it at Cafe Hope Yeah Or you can order it from us directly as well Okay, that's the way to go Yeah Do you keep a bunch in your trunk or anything? Like are you prepared for an onslaught? Yes I don't want to say people are going to follow your cars You don't want to know what she keeps in your trunk So this was just Pardon the WD-40 and the Badger I'll be back in a second

And a half of a rake What'd you do with the other half of the rake? And the chat really enjoyed it Very cool Very good I love that song Okay That's on The CD's name is Lessons Learned You can pick it up at Cafe Hope Or if you happen to see them in traffic You can flag either one of them down Or at live shows If you happen to see them out and about Check the city view of the date book Or live from the past I'm going to try to keep an eye on them See where they're at But I'm sure if you catch them on a live show They're more than willing to sell one to you Yeah, we'll be at like Fire Creek Grill in West Des Moines On February 27th So that's an upcoming show I'm looking forward to

As far as I know I'm currently not busy on the 27th of February I was going to sit at home and listen to that tune And comb my beard But I feel like Maybe I'll free up some time My hammock's on back over I'll be there Very, very cool Very pretty Okay, I tell you what Let's get to our proof So we are walking through the 50 proofs From the man at Godisimaginary.com And we are on proof 30 Week 30, proof 30 And this week's proof that God is imaginary Is examine God's sexism Man No, it's him The man that runs the website is saying it Okay I'm just the messenger So here we go

I'm going to try to truncate this down Because he's gone to town with it He's written a book Here we go If you would like to prove to yourself That God is imaginary Here's one easy way to do it Look for places in the Bible Where God is an absurd Unmitigated jerk Instead of the all-knowing All-loving Fully enlightened being That he is supposed to be The utter contradiction proves That God is imaginary The tone on this one Is a little bit spicy It's kind of rough He's gone to town with it There are many parts of the Bible That display these tendencies For example Oh no, he gave clickable links If you are a woman

The place where God's absurdity Becomes completely clear Is when you look at God's sexism The dictionary defines a misogynist As one who hates women It defines the word sexist As discrimination based on gender Especially discrimination against women Is God a sexist Here we go Look at the evidence 1 Corinthians chapter 14 As in all the congregations of the saints Women should remain silent in the churches They are not allowed to speak But must be in submission As the law says If they want to inquire about something They should ask their own husbands at home For it is disgraceful for a woman To speak in the church Other examples 1 Timothy chapter 2 Also that women should adorn themselves Modestly and sensibly

In seemly apparel Not with braided hair Or gold or pearls Or costly attire But by good deeds As befits women Who profess religion It's hard to miss God's meaning When he says Something as direct as I permit no woman to teach her To have authority over men She is to keep silent If you think about it You will realize that God started this type of sexism At the very beginning Of the Bible In Genesis chapter 17 God says This is my covenant Which you shall keep Between me and you And your descendants after you Every male among you

Shall be circumcised You shall be circumcised In the flesh of the foreskins It shall be a sign of the covenant Between me and you God makes no mention Of forming any sort of covenant With women There are many other examples That we can find in the Bible I'll pick out a couple In John 20 Jesus says to Mary Touch me not For I am not yet ascended To my father As though the touch of a woman Is somehow improper But a few verses later Is happy to have Thomas touch him In 1 Peter 3, 7 We find husbands In the same way Be considerate as you live With your wives

And treat them with respect As the weaker partner And as heirs with you In the gracious gift of life So that nothing will hinder Your prayers There are other broader Examples of misogyny That are readily apparent In the Bible as well Examples are Any of Jesus' disciples Women? Nope Are any of the elders In the book of Revelation women? Nope Are any of the books Of the Bible written by women? Nope God it would seem Wants nothing to do With women If you think about it You realize that

There's something quite odd About this situation In spite of the fact That the Bible is supposed To be God's eternal word Modern human beings Totally reject God's sexism Modern human beings Completely ignore God We make women The CEOs of major corporations We elect women To high government offices We appoint women As presidents to universities We fill our schools With female teachers The contradiction Should be as obvious As a lighthouse To any unbiased observer The reason for sexism Is in the Bible Is very easy to understand The Bible was not written

By an all-knowing All-loving Fully enlightened God It was written by Primitive men Who were flagrant sexists Just look at how men In primitive communities Excuse me Countries like Afghanistan Treat women today Those are the kind of men Who wrote the Bible And we all know it Christians and non-Christians Alike The reason why Modern societies Totally reject sexism Is because we all know That the Bible's sexism Is completely contradictory And completely wrong It's exactly the same situation We see when Christians

Face slavery in the Bible Christians and non-Christians Alike reject the Bible's Teaching in these areas Because the Bible Is obviously wrong The part that is profoundly strange Is that while completely Rejecting these parts of the Bible Christians will claim That other parts of the Bible Are God's word They are blind to the obvious Contradiction Because of their utter delusion Once you break the delusion It is completely obvious God is imaginary That is the proof What are the thoughts There's a lot of stuff there He's gone to town Yeah he's gone to town with it I feel like he's done Half his research

Which I appreciate That's more than a quarter That's true So these are hot button issues Daniel You know what I'm saying Like there's nothing That gets a group of people Riled up faster Than some of the verses That he's put forth Even God-fearing God-loving groups of people Can disagree on some of these issues We could easily take A week per verse To unpack Number one How totally ignorant he is Of what the verse is saying And number two Which is the same thing What God intended I mean he's just so wrong Everywhere

He just He hasn't He's using an online Concordance or something Or you know Bible software He got for free Because I'm sure he didn't Spend any money on it And he's doing word searches Good Jesus software Is very expensive And not for the weak of heart He does not have the logos That I have Well and you know People's perception Or their reality And he's obviously perceiving this From his own sense of reality In his world Which is human And we fail And we fall short He though is sovereign And God does not meet

His standards So therefore He cannot be real Right Here's what he's Here's what he's trying to do Right Like he's trying to play To like a woman's Sense of empowerment You know what I'm saying Like they have A worth that is Given to them By themselves And it's their ability To make it whatever they want And who is anybody To say otherwise Right The place where I disagree With him most Is he's trying to point that out As if The rest of the Bible

Doesn't apply to men either Do you know what I'm saying Like our worth is given to us By the fact that we had a savior That died for us That's true for men and women You know what I'm saying Like he's trying to start A conflict between The sexes by saying Look You're letting a man Define your worth You're letting a man do this You know And the truth of the matter is Is that If you read the rest of the Bible The rest of the Bible Is fairly humbling For a dude as well You know what I'm saying Like give up Give up your aspirations buddy Here's what I want you to do

Here's who I am I'm the I'm the sovereign creator You are A child that I love But nonetheless My ideas are fantastic And yours are generally not good And so I need you to submit To my authority And follow these things Right That's for everybody That applies to men and women Well let's look I'll just take one of these verses Because we don't have All day to do this Okay The first Peter text Husbands The same way Be considerate As you live with your wives

Treat them as With respect As the weaker partner Okay He's looking at That As Less strong Okay You have to get to the culture Of which this was written In the culture The people who read this For the first time Understood what that was There were There were two Different types Of potters There was the The common plates That they would make Kind of like you get your I don't know What's your

Your common plates But it was What is some common Dan that's That is not No one knows what you're saying Common plates I know That's what I'm trying Plates for everybody Plastic Plastic wear I don't have any special plates We only have one kind of plate At my house Dan Exactly There is your regular Common They were cheap They were made quickly Anybody could make them Because your apprentice Could make them Okay

And then there Were shops Where they were Skilled craftsmen And it was called A weaker They have as a weaker Shop And the idea is It is fine china It is delicate It was the idea of You treat this special Okay Because if you break it It was worth a lot more It's a special Wonderful piece of thing We have some china A hidden away In a cabinet That no one ever sees Because it's china Right I like to call it junk

We have some as well Yeah However You treat it special Because it is wonderful And awesome And that's what he's saying here The weaker Is the special Delicate A crafts Fine craftsman Has made this So treat that thing With respect Whether it's a plate Or your wife Yeah And he's saying Treat it like You can beat her up Come on Yeah He doesn't understand the context The thing that I

Actually love about that verse And it's I mean it's done wonders In my marriage Right But like look at Look at what God Is asking the woman To submit to Look at the type of man That God Oh in Ephesians Right Ephesians 5 Right He's looking for You're asking to submit To a man that Loves her like Christ loved the church That's a heck of Responsibility for a dude Yeah good luck buddy Yeah That's a tall order

Do you know what I'm saying That's not an easy task But I tell you what The responsibility's on the dude If you look at that Responsibility And you take it seriously It will humble you fast And you will treat your wife Very very well And frankly I don't know anybody Man or woman That wouldn't submit To somebody that loves Them like that You know what I'm saying That's the reason I submit To Jesus Christ Because he loves me like that And so If I love my wife like that I don't know why she wouldn't Yeah it's not a failure Biblical direction

It's We have some poorly Executing dudes True We have people who are I mean like If you're loving your wife Like Christ loves the church You're sacrificing You're a teacher You're a counselor You love with love That cannot be understood Right Man's failure in that Makes those type of verses Difficult for people But the standard That God has set You know I would agree If guys are acting like that We don't have a problem Right And even if guys are pursuing that

Our problem is that We have a culture full of men That aren't aiming for that standard You have Where this becomes These things become a problem Is we have perverse guys Who read half the Bible Right Who read the thing That thing empowers them Or come from a culture In which they feel like They are empowered And they read these things And it's not a misunderstanding Of gender roles It's not a misunderstanding Of sexism For that For guys in that situation It's a misunderstanding of Christ When you say That you are to love your wife Like Christ loved the church

If you do not understand How Christ loved the church You don't get it That is an awesome responsibility It's a humbling responsibility It's a daunting responsibility But a man that doesn't know Jesus And doesn't understand The sacrifice that God made That doesn't mean anything to him And he treats it stupid Right And he looks at that verse And goes Submit to me woman Yeah Make me my supper And get my slippers Right And I'll do nothing And I'll watch the game I'll hang tight When's that gelato get here Hey Hey Eve

Are you done with that apple I'd like something I'm here The whole time Which again goes to You know Completely blows out His whole thing His website And we say this every week Needs to be renamed It does not disprove God It just proves He doesn't understand the Bible I disagree with God.com Well yeah Absolutely So when it comes to Sorry Mike had the microphone I was going to say something earlier You're in the microphone You're in the microphone Here I am I think he'd actually agree with this If he understood the context

Right Absolutely So if you look at the context Of where they were in the world And regardless of where they were 90% of all societies Not even biblically Not even religion wise The man is looked at As the head of the household So in Roman times It's called Pater familiaris The man was the head of the household He had the responsibility Could you spell that Because I If you really want me to We're googling Do it P-A-T-E-R Space F-A-M-I-L-A I-A-L-R A-R-I-S

Excuse me Familiaris There's no R in it It's pater familius Familius Excuse me So that was I'm still impressed The Roman man was the head of the household I loved it Go ahead That's in all societies And if you look at the verses That he uses A lot of them are Pertaining to that society If a woman were to have spoken In church In the first century In that area She would have been Looked down on By any man Of any religion That wasn't just any

A Christian thing That wasn't a biblical thing And then along with The first Peter verse It depends on the setting though It does Because there were women Governors And with I mean they were leaders And this was a context Because there was a confusion If you're talking about The Corinthians Blah blah blah Well anyway It was They're all in one room And the men were on one side And the women were on the other And the guy would say something And there's no microphones You know So there's like Hey

And hey What did he say You're in the microphone They're talking Yeah well see See Even for the side comment Exactly That's the point They couldn't hear And so they'd yell out Hey what did he say Nathaniel And it was just It was confusing So it was like Just be quiet And let the guy Talk at home If you got a question Go home And ask the question So everybody else can hear too Because otherwise Everybody's just shouting

Back and forth That was kind of the context Of what was going on Right No and I understand And then also going off Of the first Peter verse When he talks about God's thoughts of equality Or not equality Between man and woman Because he says that God speaks to Adam In Genesis About the covenant In first Peter It talks about That they were Inherent Their inheritance of life Was they shared With each other It wasn't The man got that It was man and woman

Both were given To the gift of life That was an inheritance That they both shared Well and when We talk about We talk about Head of the household That is head of the marriage Covenant Right And it is about Responsibility Not authority Right The point is That you are responsible For that covenant You are responsible For keeping the marriage Together That is your responsibility When God looks down If there's things going on In your marriage

He's looking at you As the guy You're the head Of that marriage covenant That is your responsibility You're responsible For making sure The kids are raised well That's your deal And so again It's way more We look at it And people get upset About it Because it's like Well I'm saying That I'm the head Of the house No no You're the head of the house Because you're responsible For what goes on In your house And God will hold you Responsible for that

For the marriage covenant He's invested in that It talks about in Proverbs 2 Malachi 2 Those are places Where God's like This is a marriage covenant And if there's a problem In it Fellas I'm looking at you You're the guy Responsible for it So I like the word boss though Yeah no no That goes over well Yeah Thanks Dan Yeah Nothing says authority Like a purple t-shirt I'm in charge Around here

Somebody make me Some jello That's my impersonation You Dan Why do you talk like that Yeah It comes with the shirt I just sing songs I love you You love me I'm also available For birthday parties My CD is Not available At Cafe I'm working on it They've got standards That's why Lessons learned Make it It is on the internet Dan sings the classics No Alright well so God's 30 for 30

Yeah Broad sweep ladies What do you think What do you think Would you take I think we are all To out serve each other That's what I think God is calling us to do It's not one over the other It's I do agree That it's one of those things Where you're absolutely right Here I'm playing guitar About it But you know It's like God loves us all And We can't even see things We see things from such A worldly perspective Look out from his And in that worldly perspective

That whole Submit to your husband's thing I love how you put it Mike Because I think that's I mean That's exactly what God If you love your wife Like that Yeah What woman Christ loves the church I mean Yeah As Christ loved the church So to me That whole submission thing From our worldly standards It sounds like Men With a caveman club And women I've tried that It doesn't go over well No

Trust me It does not It does not go over well I look fine in leopard print Just throw it out there I feel like that's debatable I feel like we're on a set of brother bears These are the brother's moos Hey those brother's moos are funny They are hilarious I'm taking a compliment I have no idea Is it on television Yeah Brother bear Yeah the Disney brother bear There's two of the moos talking I have chickens I'm not sure what you're saying I know what you sound I think you were them It's possible I feel like I'm old royalties All right All right

So anyway Next week God's 30 30 for 30 Imaginary man's zero He's sure trying though We got 20 more to go He's got some room to move I think he needs to stop for a Gatorade He's running out of steam Proof number This is next week Proof number 31 Understand that religion is superstition All right I'll give you the opening salvo Here it is Let's say that you were to create A far flung news network And you somehow had the capacity To observe all the inexplicable tragedy That occurs on earth each day All the murders Car wrecks Rapes

Mutilations Blah blah blah Just 10 minutes with the news feed Would be unbearable I think I think generally speaking He's going to be getting out That God permits all this stuff to happen I see That's where he's coming from So And again Just to be clear So we walk through these Because These are barriers for this man That he's propagandizing I'll admit that much But they are There are aspects of a lot of these questions That are legitimate barriers For people that are That are trying to follow Christ Or interested in learning more about God And so

We should be ready with an answer Yeah It falls under James Be able to explain your faith And talk about what you're talking about Regardless of whether he is outlandish or not There are I think we can get to the concept Like I said Like the stuff from this week Is still debated And even in Christian circles About how those verses are to be read So So yeah We'll hit that next week That's proof number 31 And we'll see how he shakes out I feel like it's leading in God's favor But I suppose we'll see Who's to say The man has a website I mean They don't just give those to anybody He's all they have to win

All right Well tell you what Let's check back in With the With the Onyx Onyx 2 ladies I feel like Like we should have a weather desk Or like a Like a performer's desk Like let's check in with the performer's desk Onyx 2 is hanging out I tell you what We can totally get a performer's desk Feeling great in here man If you will agree to do business With our sponsors Maybe we can afford ourselves A performance desk Yeah that's an idea So this is a good motivation For you to go get your house cleaned Or have a gelato Yeah no doubt Or order a t-shirt

With your face on it Absolutely Yeah okay So Anyway we're talking with Onyx 2 You can find them on Facebook And their CD Lessons Learned Is available at Cafe Hope Or Random Trunks Throughout the metro area And tell me just a little bit About the song You Are Mine That is the first song That we wrote Actually It's a neat I love this story Because Denise She's such a driving force And I just love her so much But she called me And said I'm going to come over for lunch

And I've entered us In a talent show thing And Wait Denise invited herself over Oh I love that about Denise Hey I'm coming over That's awesome For gelato And um That was her impersonation Of you Dan Well I It was good It was good By the way By the way I can do Bonnie too I'm not doing it on air I'm not doing it on air I'm not And I'm not even in purple No but But this song So Denise Yes

She lovingly invited herself I like that about you She was coming up for lunch And she said I have a song And we're going to work it up For this talent show And I said I kept in crunch And she was on her way But um That had been I had been In a Kind of Funk For a couple of weeks Maybe More than a couple of weeks And This was kind of a hard time In my life And so This song I was laying on the couch

Actually crying And this song Um I actually Felt urged And I can only assume By my heavenly father To get up Go to the piano And this song Just poured out From beginning to end And she came And she showed me The song we were going to do And she said We're going to do this song And I said Okay And let's have some lunch And okay And I said You know what I kind of wrote a song today And I was rather apologetic

About it Because I thought it was Kind of strange That that happened And she said Let's hear it And she said I love it And we are so She put her chords on it And we started Working it around And she said We're so doing this At that time of the show And so that's kind of How we actually I loved it The lyrics that pulled out To me when Suzy Started saying it You are mine I am yours I want you back

I don't keep score And I just love the thought Of a God That doesn't keep score It doesn't matter What we've done He always calls us back And so You know Whenever you're broken You're dealing with The issues of your life We've got a God Who loves us so much Who just says Hey cry out to me I will take those Those cares and worries And that's really What this song reflects Awesome All right And this one's on the CD too Yeah Now is Dan going to

Sing this one with us I will Just tell him Just give me the song Well we wrote in This little part for you Feel it Do it Okay All right Not really Dan Just for a heads up That's a mistake Not really Not really Dan Now I'm very interested To see what Dan would do If given the open thing To say Whenever you feel it Jump in Am I curious It's not going to outweigh him Staying out of the tune But I may have to

Try it out later All right This is You're listening to Life in the Path This is You Are Mine And Onyx 2 Drowning my fears Standing in the rain I do my best But my heart still feels the pain I'm sorry for the hurt I've caused along the way So many things I'd change If I could relive all those days He said Mama And I am yours I want you back I don't keep score Here's my hand Please don't let go I am what you think And I will set you free Oh this love

Oh this love He's spoken right into my heart To accept would be my thought His word is life to me And I will trust him in all things He fills my heart Hope all that Can share the joy You bring I don't keep score Please don't let go What you've been I will set you free Sweet chain Here's my hand Won't you let go What you've been I will set you free It was kind of in my spirit I was hoping you could hear it Dan only sings suspended seconds So you heard him kind of crawl in and crawl out Where applicable I don't want to shine bright You know what I'm saying

I'll have my time Oh man Harmonies are fantastic You know I was actually just going to comment on that There's not a whole lot of people I've heard And you know we listen to a lot of music around here And you guys seem to pull off your harmonies As if you're one person And that's hard to do It's hard to do And it's very well appreciated So it was very very good Very good Boy And so that's You Are Mine You can get that on the Lessons Learned CD from Onyx 2 At Cafe Hope on Jordan Creek Or again from Trunks and stuff Okay I like that We're never going to forget that We're never been There's a band that came in here And they've been on like I think two or three times And they happen to not have ever done a CD The first time they came in

And they've not been able to live it down And they still haven't done one Actually that's what keeps them in trouble Yeah it is They still haven't done it It is We'll have them back in Speaking of Coming up later this month Cass Lester and Double J are coming in right What is that? Okay Hold on now

I don't want you to color the whole thing With the mic marker Like this was my grand scheme But a lady I know That I happen to love dearly And spend my life with Would like to get milk from the Amish Right? But I found out this Amish milk is illegal You can't buy raw milk in the state of Iowa Yes correct Other states you can Uh huh Not in this state Like Pennsylvania And California Uh huh They allow it in California Uh huh Anyway That's why those cows are always smiling So I don't see any I don't see any reason why I can't have this milk Except for the very fact that

Iowa has decided to outlaw Except for there's a Because it's illegal right? But it's a And it's an arbitrary dumb law Well why is it illegal? Uh it's a food It's a health concern Yeah Iowa is a legitimate health concern Iowa does not like the Amish That's the problem There's an anti-Amish man In the Congress Or whatever we do To make laws around here Here's the thing I've met a couple Amish They're pretty nice folks I've I bought a basket from one So I ran into one at a At a I don't want to talk to him Like there's some kind of

Faceless group of people But like I ran into an Amish guy At uh At an auction one time Right? And And he went through And he was there the whole time And uh Like He was He was He was in on the On the bidding of everything Except for the power tools You can't use them right? But that didn't keep him from Standing right in the front And perusing And picking him up And looking at him And I finally elbowed him I'm like Can you buy those power tools? He goes

Oh yeah I can I can't use them I said What are you standing up front for? I sell them on eBay He says I'm going to lose my place For the wood If I don't stay right here I'm like You're a solid Amish man I like your style I talked to his wife For a little while They're super nice people Oh yeah But uh I thought Maybe you'll sell me some milk You know And uh But they can't Because you can't Now here's what I heard Right?

Here's the deal Is that They pick an undisclosed location You leave money And then the money leaves And the milk shows up And they don't see you You don't see them You're going to have to be Right on top of that It'd get a little sour I've never heard such a Miami Vice type He type exchange With the Amish You know And I'm like How do you even set it up You know Like you can't call them And you don't want to be Seen with them at their house Because you're part of the You can't call them You set up the bird

You're part of the Illegal milk trade You know I don't even know How you like Put it on papyrus And send it out I don't know how it's done And either way I want to be involved in it But I can't Because it's illegal And I feel like It's a dumb lot Can't you like Go to the ox yoke inn And get their little Dinner buffet thing And uh Just kind of Oh you can say I'd like two gallons please With my With my paper table I'll leave a healthy tip

I'll take I'll take this Biddle honey And two gallons of milk please That's what I'll have For dinner wink I don't know Can I have a to-go bag No It's not Sorry Mike It's not legal Obey the laws of the land What have there What have been You're gonna have to move Work to change the laws Or move It's a bummer If you like fireworks Can I buy it out of state And haul it in Yeah what's the nearest state Yeah I feel like Dan's with me

On this thing I may have fireworks In my house right now It may be illegal To take it over state lines How does the milk guy Do it then He doesn't It's not illegal Amish milk I feel like this is We're just going In circles here I'm sorry Mike It can't be done There's no room Is this Is this the final rule Yeah The circle stops It's illegal Yeah Yeah Yeah Boova's right

This milk thing ain't done No it's not at all There's still time You could be in jail So you can catch the live show Monday nights at 10 o'clock At livefromthepath.org You guys have a wonderful week For you guys that are on the chat And hang out on the podcast We're going to keep it rolling Mike go ahead with the advice Dear Live from the Path My husband passed away a year ago Four days after his funeral I received my copy Of the church pictorial directory My husband and I Had posed together For our picture Abby They used the same photo With his image cropped out Oh man I don't have words

To describe how shocked And hurt I felt When I saw it While I'm healing well Knowing that my husband Is happy in heaven That cropped photo still hurts It is also being displayed On a bulletin board With members pictures Along with two new widows Cropped photos Man people are dying All over the place At the church I'd stop going Am I being overly sensitive I'm certain nobody Met any harm True Still I can't imagine Anyone would have done this To a family photo If a child had died Should I address the problem

I'd love to know What other widows and widowers Think about this Ben your take Milk hater Well okay Now here's All right So it's a matter Of coincidence now Because let's say Let's say your husband Had passed away What do they do Church directories Most often like Once a year right So if you pass Six months in You don't expect Him to distribute A new directory Right So the fact That it's potential

That you would have A deceased person In the directory Is pretty strong The question would be Was it appropriate For someone Without asking Or anything To go through And crop out A deceased person Because that seems A little invasive To me So I would say It's just a really Like it's a little Raw at the moment Like if you had A little bit more Perspective It probably wouldn't Be such a big deal But like

It's a little raw At the moment I think it's probably Worth telling someone At the church That hey You probably should Check with people Before you start Like photoshopping The church directory I mean is there Like a creepy hand On her shoulder You know That's what I was That's what I was That can't be A clean cut It's like in his Silhouette Alfred Hitchcock style You know that's bad That's that's that's Yeah cause he was

A member of the church Yeah What can he Here's first of all Don't put the pictures Of your people Of your parishioners On a wall somewhere You know what I'm saying I think that's generally A mistake That's why we don't Do directors Just we don't have A building dam And so we couldn't Put people on a wall If we wanted to The school would Make us take them down Why is Dan's picture Bigger than everybody He's taking down The president And he's put himself

Up in the classroom What's this picture Of Barney drinking milk Wait wait Is that raw milk Anyway that's Generally a mistake You know what I'm saying Don't do that That was poor taste If you are If you are going to do it I don't know You'd almost have to Hire a full time guy To keep up to date If their church is Big enough That three people Have died In the last three months That they have to Doctor the photos I would just give up on it I would just say

Thanks for coming Jesus loves you Go get more people in We're out of pictures We're done So what do you guys think Would you ask If you're the church Administration staff And this woman Has passed away And you're getting ready To print the directory Would you What would you have done Would you have printed The full photo Would you have asked her Absolutely The whole photo Absolutely Full thing Absolutely It needs no explanation They all knew him

Yeah Right Absolutely If you guys If that would have happened I would have been Kind of sore on that Situation as well If I would have seen A picture four days After you know A deceased person Getting taken out Of the picture And then just seeing me With like two parts Of the picture Cropped out I would have been A little upset about that So you should have Just printed as is Like I mean I kind of get The fleeting thought

Of the person Did it But it wasn't really I mean if you really Are that strongly Thinking about it You could ask the question Hey I'm thinking about We're thinking about Crop in the picture Would you prefer To have yourself In or out Exactly I can't imagine That you'd want to I mean any lasting memory You could have Especially in a church Within the church family That's like that's our Last picture together Yeah You know I mean Yeah

Alright that's okay What's the secular advice Secular says Handle this by telling Whoever's in charge Of that pictorial directory And the bulletin board How you felt When you saw the photo Then tell the person And if necessary The clergyman Bringing the big guns That you would like A replacement photograph Taken and displayed I am 100% sure The other widows Will appreciate it Because that happened Because what happened Was extremely insensitive Yeah I mean it wasn't Like the intentional

It's not like a guy Is like ha ha There you go He's out That's an oddball situation People who are You know Maybe a little Socially inept I would have made that Probably same decision And not have thought Any different I'd have thought Well you know It doesn't It's not here I wouldn't have put Two thoughts into it And actually Screwed it up You know And so like I'm sure they meant No harm

But anyway I would You know I'd almost And it's hard Like taking yourself Out of the perspective Of the widow But think of how badly That guy's gonna feel When he finds out How much that hurt That poor lady You know what I'm saying Like something that he didn't Probably didn't invest Too much in So I mean It's tough to look at The widow and say Now be careful How you say it But like really That guy's probably gonna feel Just terrible

Times three Yeah once he gets it Like what's happened So Okay sorry Okay I'm done I got another one Hang on I lost it You got one more It's coming man Hold on Here we go Dear lie from the path I spent the afternoon Running errands As I left the shopping center I saw a young couple With a baby and a toddler Holding a sign Requesting help with food As the husband Had just been laid off I drove past Then considered the children

And circled back I had no cash with me So I stopped And offered them Our family's dinner A jar of premium spaghetti sauce Pound of fresh ground beef Box of dried spaghetti Fruit cups That my children Usually take to school For treats And some canned soups I occasionally have for lunch Imagine my surprise When the couple Declined my generosity Instead the man Strongly suggested That I should go to A nearby ATM And withdraw cash To donate to them Because they preferred To select their own groceries

And pay their phone bills What are your thoughts on this? How are they going to Cook the meat? I thought that was A little sensitive myself Right Like where Were they on the side Of the road or something? They're begging for Food booba So they're going to Give them a can Of spaghetti sauce Probably a pound Of uncooked ground beef And then a box of Non Or uncooked Spaghetti So fruit cups Are the only ace there Well did they have a home? It didn't say

Maybe they have a home I think we have All the information That that woman had So I don't know If that means They have a home Or don't have a home I think they're But still On the street corner Where are you going to Keep the ground beef Until you actually get home? They're using their children To get some cash What's the matter with you guys? But remember how they say As you do Jesus Not they Jesus says Jesus and the boys So as you do To the least of you

So you do to me Give me When I'm thirsty Give me water When I'm hungry Give me food She gave premium Spaghetti sauce I thought that was A bit egotistical You know what I'm saying? I buy the best By the way It's premium I just called it Spaghetti sauce But done with it That's true That detail was unnecessary It was Yeah I gave her spaghetti sauce A little self-righteous there Yeah I buy the best

You know I don't know Here's the deal Let's say you're in that situation Put yourself in the situation In the family You're desperate You're out in the Let's call it legitimate For now Dan Because I can hear your mind Clocking around Going they're stealing money Anytime someone Yeah okay go ahead So alright And like you're reduced To standing out inside And someone's going to give you Something that really You can't use Is the gracious thing To take it And let it go Because she didn't give

The tenor of how he asked Right Like do you say Hey look I really appreciate it But like I can't take the meat Because I don't have anything To cook it on It'll spoil Now you would hope That if that's what he said She would phrase the question Differently Here than what she has done But let's say that was the case Would you have been offended By that Mike Or Boova What are your thoughts Okay so if If it were said in the right light I understand You know She may think that she's Giving this extension Of good measure

Of this person Saying you know I'm giving you And the way that she said Premium spaghetti Are you going to answer my question I am going to What I'm saying is It depends on how We got answered If you just said No I don't want that crap Give me cash So I can get My phone bills taken care of And pick her own groceries I specifically proposed An inquiry As to which I asked you to answer What if he said I can't cook the meat Would you have been offended No Okay Alright

Thank you very much I apologize man That's all I want I apologize for having Not answered that correctly But if you said That's not good enough Go get cash I would have said You had your chance Yeah Because that same thing Happened to my husband He offered to Take a man out And buy him Dinner and coffee And the man said I'd prefer the cash And Doug said Well no I don't I don't think You know I'm offering To feed you And he said

I want the cash So then he didn't think Maybe it was a genuine But the thing is The point is We are supposed to give And be selfless And share And whatever gifts We have shared Premium sauce Or otherwise It's not my problem Here's the deal Whether they misuse it or not I don't think that's It's going to take me forever To try to figure out Whether they're going To misuse it or not Right That's true And so I feel like it's up to me You guys are not helping

Dad's mistrust of people I just think you shouldn't Also we can't enable people That's right You know it's the double So bring them a meal They can eat it This guy had alcohol In his breath And Doug's concern was If I give you money You're going to harm yourself And possibly others But if I feed you If you're truly hungry But you're just wanting my cash So you can hurt yourself Jesus didn't say Give them cash Give them something to eat That's right I've gone I've turned around And gotten food In a drive-thru

And then come back And handed off the bag And gone Now raw meat I don't know about that So much It's like She has a stove And she doesn't want raw meat She doesn't want raw meat And they're like Here here's a pizza For you to make for me Like whatever You should have bought a pizza It was already done I'm not interested The chat is making the case That even homeless Can come up with a fire in a pan Like your average homeless person Has something like A hibachi or something Yeah but they don't have One of them fancy thermometers

To tell when it's done Here's the deal How would you know This guy was parading His young children Yes Okay It was a scam It's cold Yeah That's not even nice That wasn't in there I think it was cold You just added that in there No it's now right It could have been really hot He could have put the hamburger On the floor And there was a dying dog He was covered in gelato They were drinking raw melts There was a gelato incident Before they got there The gelato was even raw See if I was in that situation

My family would be at home And the second someone Gave me raw hamburger I'd take it home And say Here's supper I'm going back Okay now hold on a minute Hold on I'm going to go work For a living I'm going to go work I'm going to go work You won the golden ticket Okay hold on I'll put yourself In the same situation And you're homeless Now go My children weren't home I mean If you had a home My children are under the bridge Is that what you're saying I would be out in the hinterlands

Hunting You're going to You're going to leave Your wife and kids Exposed in the middle of the city To the elements And whatever criminal activity So that you can go out And forge for meat and stuff At the local grocery mart You'd take them with you You would take them with you We wouldn't go out begging Probably I can't He doesn't have a sign I would find myself a cornfield And build a little house In the middle of it And I would This is an outrageous setup By the way I'm homeless and broke I'm going to acquire land And build a home

Or I'm going to squat On somebody else's land Illegally I just happen to know I ask for permission Let me check my rescue pack And then I will just Build whatever I want I would just get out All my mobile utilities And my tent And my RV And then we'd be fine All right then Why is anybody homeless anyway I'm just on my large screen television I've got a knife With a can opener on it Okay Then you're no help All right You know what I would do If I was homeless Not be homeless That's what I would do

There I'd gather all the Never mind Okay Let's take Shut up for a minute Let someone else be least of these Let's do secularist advice What happened That's terrible All right Tone it down Secular says What happened is a shame You should not buy premium spaghettis No Some families are truly in need And should be guided to a shelter So they can receive help Getting back on their feet However in some cities You see the same people On the same streets For long periods of time Dan's nodding his head

Oh I know those folks Preach it Preach it Mike They have staked out their turf So to say And because the money They are given is tax free Some of them are doing quite well In your case The couple you saw Holding the sign May have been professional panhandlers And the children May have been borrowed How are you What are you going to get A union card How are you going to know Whether they're professionals What's the distinction Between an amateur And professional panhandler There are some Who actually file their taxes As panhandlers

There are Yeah absolutely Wow Is there actually Bad panhandlers Like Hey I'm taking your money For personal gain I only know that Because there was a big stink A few years ago Down on my 80 here And there was big Rides up in the papers Rides up Rides ups in the paper And all that stuff And yeah They were making pretty good cash Hey man We should pay an handle I got the face for it You got children I got kids Or I'll borrow some

And you got chickens And I got chickens Dude if you were out there With the sign that said You know need money And you had like a pet rooster On a leash I bet you'd get something Those dogs are cute But a rooster means like That guy's in the streets He couldn't even get a dog I'm eating this If you don't give me money What if somebody handed you Raw Amish milk In Iowa When you were We didn't handle it The Amish milk That's crazy I feel like you're On to something great We're panhandling The Lamoni

That's what we're doing We're closing the Lamoni And the Amish Slowly speed away Slowly speed away Stop Don't you Don't even know Where you got this You've been listening to Live from the Path We're here every Monday night From 10 to 11pm Here at Livefromthepath.org If you could do us A favor If you could pray for the show That our discussion Would glorify God And if you could visit Our sponsors Because it is their money That keeps us on Keeps us on the air
