Segments

  • Opening and one-year anniversary kickoff 0:09–1:52
The one-year anniversary show opens with banter about no-bid cookies and the anniversary spread of pizza, soda, and popcorn. Ben introduces himself and the in-studio crew: Dan Hudson, Mike Foost, and Troy Spanglinger. He previews the night: year-one highlights and lowlights, a prayer-room discussion, and clips of past musical performances.
  • Year-one highlights: the Dave Funk interview 1:52–7:51
Answering Mike's question about year-one highlights, a host names politician Dave Funk's appearance – specifically asking Funk whether any statehouse politicians are smelly, a question Funk refused to answer. The hosts recall a co-host wearing a suit and tie to angle for a job with Funk. They joke about what Funk's appearance says about a politician's desperation, and about a show that failed to record.
  • The year's musical guests 7:51–8:40
The hosts marvel at the caliber of musical guests over the year – record-label artists, up-and-coming Christian acts, and Spirit Midwest Music Festival headliners. One host admits he thought Christian music was dead before the show proved him wrong. Ben from Certainty reportedly said the band's reaction was 'that was cool… wonder if they will ask us back.'
  • Leftover bits: phone-test roaming and the creepy window guy 8:41–9:39
The hosts recall testing the phone system by roaming the halls of the building, and the creepy man pacing outside the studio window downtown. Brief nostalgic bits between larger topics.
  • The Decorah Eagle viewer envy 9:39–11:17
The hosts joke about the Decorah eagle-nest livestream on Ustream drawing up to 200,000 viewers while their show draws a couple dozen. They admit to watching the eagle themselves and set a goal of shutting down Ustream.
  • Funk follow-up and the butter-mint banquet story 11:18–13:47
The hosts revisit the Dave Funk interview – over an hour of political blathering they could not steer, and their failed attempt to get him to name a smelly senator off-air. A host tells the story of a preacher banquet attended with Newt Gingrich and Michelle Bachman, where he watched Ben pick up a decorative butter flower and eat it, mistaking it for a dinner mint.
  • Anniversary party versus the national championship 13:48–17:21
The hosts note the poor scheduling of their anniversary party on the night of the college basketball national championship, joking that Jesus is watching their show instead. They discuss Pants ordering a four-by-five-foot Fathead donkey decal for the studio. Ben thanks listeners for a year across three studios and different time slots.
  • The one-year highlight montage 17:23–24:21
A rapid-fire highlight montage of the year's on-air moments plays – one-liners, bits, and catchphrases from past episodes, introduced as one year of Live from the Path. The hosts react, noting they missed 'all the Jesus parts,' and Ben thanks long-time listeners.
  • Recording Tales from the Path and Cinema Fire fondness 24:22–25:07
The hosts recall the hours-long struggle to record a 'Tales from the Path' Jack and the Beanstalk radio play, undone by Mike's head noise. They praise Cinema Fire as favorite repeat musical guests who feel like part of the show family.
  • Band rundown, Tim Cooper's hippos, Skype stunts 25:07–31:20
The hosts run down the year's bands: Cinema Fire, On This Rock, Saved on Sunday, The Salt at Central College, Jess and Jordan Anderson (Jess newly signed to BEC Records), Certainty, Tim Cooper and Friends, and Eyes Wide Open. They recall Dan asking Tim Cooper whether his mother was fat during a bit about the hippos Cooper draws on his mail, and their failed Skype experiment calling strangers named Jesus Christ in foreign countries.
  • Dropped ideas, Jared Roy, and the coming music season 31:20–34:25
The hosts list show ideas that never happened: a prank script with replacement co-hosts, an inflatable deer-versus-bull lobby fight. They remember convincing worship pastor Jared Roy to be their first musical guest under scary homemade lights, and credit the Spirit Midwest connection for the flood of bands. They look ahead to music season and mention David Crotter trying to get on the show.
  • Jessa Anderson – Not What I Thought 34:27–38:27
The hosts play Jessa Anderson's 'Not What I Thought,' noting its nearly 12,000 YouTube views from their earlier broadcast. A host admits listening to it repeatedly and recording his own rendition he decided not to post.
  • Matt Cassidy's fill-in and the mooning debate 38:29–42:42
The hosts recall Matt Cassidy filling in while Dan was out – getting fired up about Dairy Queen and throwing a pin, nearly getting kicked out. This leads to a debate: is it wrong to moon somebody? A chat participant says it caused him to stumble; the hosts riff on geometry ('two half circles'), the Golden Rule ('moon unto others'), and a restaurant story about a kid mooning junior-high girls.
  • Pants' Holiday Inn rolls lie 42:42–43:40
The hosts recall Pants faking a phone call to the Holiday Inn to score fresh rolls, calling it 'the biggest pack of lies.' They joke about ordering the rolls for the anniversary show and plan a Tampa trip. One host declines a campus-pastor invitation, citing his enjoyment of mooning.
  • The Ireland mooning regret story 43:40–48:01
Ben tells his Ireland mooning story: on a 40-minute trip to Ireland with his wife, he mooned the countryside on a whim and took a photo. The photo was shared with a friend whose camera broke; she set the folder as her screensaver, broadcasting Ben's backside in her home. He calls it a regret and sings 'Forgive me, Father, for I've mooned.'
  • Deuteronomy or Dan – the game 48:02–1:01:46
The hosts debut a new game, 'Deuteronomy or Dan': Dan reads a law and everyone guesses whether it is from Deuteronomy or invented by Dan. Rounds include not eating animals found dead (Deuteronomy 14:21), not riding a donkey sidesaddle (Dan), defect-free sacrifices (Deuteronomy 17:1), not touching entrails (Dan), the ox-and-donkey yoke (Deuteronomy 22:10), wool-and-linen clothing (Deuteronomy 22:11), not waking a neighbor before sunrise (Dan), no interest on loans (Deuteronomy), sun-baked honey and damp raisins (Dan), and eating grapes in a neighbor's vineyard but not basketing them (Deuteronomy 23:24).
  • Post-game: Praise 940 and the vineyard law 1:01:46–1:05:34
After the game, the hosts discuss the Praise 940 radio rebroadcast of their show and whether the AM audience will send letters. They dig into the vineyard law's context – vineyards as all-you-can-eat buffets, watchtowers, and the Israelites still wandering the desert. Pants keeps eating pizza in the viewing room while watching the eagle.
  • Vance Lambert – Just Vance 1:05:36–1:09:11
The hosts play Vance Lambert's YouTube parody 'Just Vance,' his take on Lady Gaga's 'Just Dance,' following his Skype-in performance test. The lyrics are fragmentary in the transcript. A host praises his voice and claims he could beat him at arm wrestling.
  • Arm wrestling and the church dodgeball tournament 1:09:13–1:18:40
A host arm-wrestles Mike live in the studio and wins, to Mike's embarrassment. A host recounts the church dodgeball tournament: the Pathway team lost every match, including to teams named Halfway and Little Red Riding Hood, with worship pastor Jared Roy limping. They plan their own broadcast dodgeball tournament and reminisce about youth-group dodgeball in racquetball courts at Crown Point.
  • The 24-7 prayer room: plans and broadcast 1:18:41–1:23:01
The hosts preview the church's 24-7 prayer room starting Sunday – two straight weeks of round-the-clock prayer in hour slots. They will broadcast live from the prayer room for the next two weeks, with bands rotating between the prayer room and the studio. They discuss logistics: whether the show's noise undercuts the bands' prayer time, and an IHOP Kansas City-style worship set idea. A host shows off the studio's 'Jesus table,' whose wood grain resembles Jesus' face.
  • Prayer-room memories and silent listening prayer 1:23:01–1:33:30
The hosts share prayer-room memories: one host's first solo 3 a.m. shift with his brother Trey – sitting holding hands at the table, drawing with crayons, unsure what to do, then breakfast at Burger King. Another host prayed through all 350 names in his phone across two hours. They discuss the silent listening room, needing multiple visits before it 'sinks in,' detractors who tried it once, and never having had a dramatic weeping experience. One host describes walking out at sunrise feeling refreshed.
  • Jeff Arendale – Race 1:33:30–1:40:44
After a podcast and newsletter plug, the hosts play Jeff Arendale's 'Race,' a song based on Paul's writing about running the race to win and finishing for Christ. Arendale is heading to Nashville to record. The hosts note you can tell the singers genuinely believe what they are singing.
  • Prayer as asking the Father 1:40:44–1:44:35
A host reflects on his three-year-old daughter Grace, who stopped asking properly and just says 'chocolate milk' – and how teaching her to ask like 'a kind girl asks' reframed prayer for him. Prayer, he says, is the Father wanting to help if you simply ask honestly, the way he wants his daughter to ask him. He contrasts this with his own hissy-fit prayers and bedtime-checklist prayers.
  • Checklist prayer, God's boundaries, the Bible not outdated 1:44:35–1:50:36
The hosts expand on prayer as relationship versus transaction: treating prayer like God's answering machine, doing the checklist (forgiveness, try harder, goodnight). One host argues God's boundaries – in Deuteronomy, in marriage, in parenting – exist for a reason, pushing back on 'the Bible is outdated' by pointing to the 50% divorce rate. Another host notes how often gratitude is just a perfunctory list before the wish list.
  • Gratitude and seeing as God sees 1:50:37–1:55:56
A host describes how his 14-year-old daughter Shanna's simple thank-you for her bass clarinet lessons reframed the cost as a joy – and how God must respond the same way to genuine thanks. The hosts discuss praying to see situations as God sees them rather than through pride or selfishness, and getting their house in order so prayers are not hindered. They close excited for the prayer-room season.
  • Wrap-up, video chat idea, chat shout-outs 1:55:57–2:00:32
The hosts wrap the anniversary show: an exciting year ahead, a plan to broadcast from the prayer room, and a 10-way video-chat idea to connect with other prayer rooms worldwide. A chat regular's name sparks confusion (Kunger vs. Conger, jokingly the daughter's secret roommate). They shout out Joel Kahn, Bean, Conger, and Stacy for keeping the chat rolling.
  • Closing comedy video: Peter, Jesus, and the Pharisees 2:00:33–2:09:26
The show closes with a comedy video: a sketch where Peter bothers Jesus (who claims he only pretended to play hide-and-seek to get rid of him), a 'first Christian church meeting' with rules about t-shirts and beards, Jesus reading each disciple's minor sins back to them ('You're all evil. There is no hope'), a Pharisee boasting about his following, and a heaven-admission shakedown ending with 'you had your chance and you blew it.'

Live from the Pathway Studios in Johnston Proper, you are Live from the Path. Hey, you are Live from the Path on livefromthepath.org. Hello, everybody. What's that? Welcome. Everywhere I go. It's great to be here. I got to love Jesus stronger. Where's that from? Ben said it. That's me. That's classic Ben. Yeah, classic Ben. Oh, man. Hey, hey, it's the one-year anniversary show Live from the Path. Yeah. I'll eat a no-bid cookie for that. Oh, the woman makes to kill her no-bid cookies. It could kill me. Thanks. They're good. So, I mean, there's a huge turnout here. There's a huge turnout. And you're missing out. We paid off on everything. We said there's going to be pizza. There's pizza here. There is pizza. I brought it. There's going to be cookies. Good. There's cookies here. We're in good shape. Soda. Where are you, popcorn? Dig it. We got it all. Anyway, you're listening to Live from the Path.

My name is Ben Foost. I'm glad to be here tonight. With me in the studio is Dan Hudson, Mike Foost, and Troy Spanglinger. Hi, everybody. Hey. I'm glad you guys can make it in. Hey, we got a really cool show for you tonight. We're going to be reviewing some of the, I don't know. The best of. The best of over the last year. I don't think we have time. No, no. I couldn't squeeze it all in. And I prepped a video of some of our highlights over this year, and I'm just saying it was tough. It was tough to get it all down. As a matter of fact, I probably could have run another, I don't know, 45, 50 hours worth of content. Yeah. Easy. With the quality that is pumped out of these airwaves on a daily basis. Definitely. Yeah. So we're going to talk a little bit about, look for the highlights, maybe the low lights of the past year on Live from the Path. Yeah. We'll have to talk about that. What's the middle worst? I'm scared about that. You guys have, they've probably lucked out too, because like some of the worst of the worst, we didn't even end up recreating. Like we didn't podcast or anything. We didn't, you know, pump it out there as a second visit. I recall like the worst ever. I can't even remember what we were doing, but the worst ever, something happened and it didn't record. And we were like going, that's all right. Oh, no, that was, we'll talk about this in a little bit because this is a classic, but

it was the very beginning of the Dave Funk Show did not record. Oh, that was it. I thought that was like later on. No, there's been another show that we, that we had. It was like six months in or something. That was the whole show. Yeah. We had like 10 minutes worth of material and then an hour and 50 minutes worth of nothing. It was bad. And it was atrocious. We hit a wall. It was our first, we hit the wall. Like we walked, well, we, we, we kind of, you know, pounced into this thing like, oh, this is whatever, you know, come on. We're just, yeah, but it's just no problem. And we hit a wall. We had no idea. Well, that's the truth of it too. It was like when we first started this show, I was under the impression that they were going to stop us. Like we were just going to show up, doof us around for a little while. And then six months in, they were going to go, look, we actually need, we have some good content coming in. You guys are going to have to go. And we thought, well, we had a good run. Shucks. You know, but apparently that's, that's not the case. So it was meant to be. Well, actually it is kind of the case because now we're doing it by ourselves on our own network because we, if we weren't, we weren't no longer sponsored there. It's very same thing Oprah is doing. True. Harpo. Oh, good. That's good news. We're following the Oprah line of progression. Or, or Oprah's following us. I actually, I have noticed that my weight has been fluctuating.

Hey, hey, oh, hey, oh, that's terrible. I'm just waiting for that cash flow. Wait for me to hold on. Hey, oh, that sounds like one of the guys from Gremlins 2. Hey, seriously, Gremlins 2 is awesome. Hey, hold on a minute. Hold on a minute there. Hey, oh, we're also going to, so in addition to our high and low lights from the first, first year broadcast, we are going to be talking a little bit about prayer. We have a prayer room coming up here at Pathway. We will be broadcasting live from the prayer room for the next two weeks. We'll have a couple bands in on each night. We'll be talking about kind of how the prayer room is going, what our experiences have been, what some of their experiences have been. It's going to be pretty sweet. Yeah. I'm pretty jazzed for it. Oh, yeah. And we're also going to, we're going to go ahead and look back on some performances over the year, because I'll tell you this, without the bands and things that we've had in here, I mean, they're the draw, obviously. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We are not the draw. We've had a ton of talented folks in here that have taken out of their time to come in late at night for a bunch of yahoos on an internet radio show to play their music, and it was very, very cool of them, and we've had a lot of cool folks on. And the caliber of television, the caliber that's been in here. Yes. I mean, I would expect us to be drudging the streets for a guy with a dobro, and we have, I mean, we have record label artists in here. We have up-and-coming Christian artists here. We have headliners at the Spirit Midwest Music Festival coming in here, and they are all, you know, they're great people. They're talented musicians. They're God-fearing folks, and I didn't expect that. I did not expect that, because if I came in here and looked at the trio of us and thought, oh, yeah, this is going to be fantastic.

Yes. You know, I mean, I'd have walked right out. I'd like to know what they honestly think. I mean, they're leaving that very first evening. That's true. And they're going back to their vehicles. What's that conversation? Maybe we could get one of them to tell us. Well, what did you guys honestly say? What did you honestly say to the car? The first time I walked out of here, I was like, oh, that was two very long hours. But, but see, you know us. Yeah, that's true. That doesn't count. I can't really be like, man, I'm never going to talk to you. My wife says that after five minutes. I'm never going to talk to you again. Are you still talking? Shouldn't you go find something to do? Maybe a hobby? Don't you have a program you like to watch? You said, till death do us part, let's give it a shot. We've tried the worst. How about the better? You'll go to heaven. I'll be left here. We did not have to deal with you. Seems like a win-win. Insurance money? Oh, man. Oh, jeez. Well, so I didn't give you guys much time to think about this. And, Chad, if you can chime in unsarcastically, feel free to do so. Unsarcastically. Mike, any highlights? Any highlights over years with the broadcasting? You know, actually, we were just talking about that.

And I'm fairly certain that we had politician Dave Funkin here. And I had the, I had an awesome time when he was in. I think we were all proud. An awesome time. I asked him, I asked him if any of the politicians at the state house were smelly. He refused to answer. He got a little uncomfortable. And then I wore a suit and a tie and tried to, tried to get myself a job with him while he was in the store. He didn't think that was cool. Yeah, that was, those are my favorite points. He was not responding right after his appearance here. Ate, ate that, ate this because I was worried about it. Actually, that's a good thought, though. Like, what does that say about the desperation of a politician if he agrees to come on our ragtag operation? That's the truth. Although, I'm pretty sure, and I could be wrong about this, but I'm pretty sure he did it as kind of like a favor because he knew some of the guys at the station or whatever. Oh, yeah, yeah. It wasn't. Yeah. Yeah. It was really funny. You know, the thing is, like, we have, and when we had our first couple bands in, I don't know, like, once again, these people just amazed me, you know, like, the level of talent that comes in here, and I didn't expect it to be that way. I thought Christian music was dead. I thought it was crappy. I hated it. Like, I didn't listen to any Christian music outside the show. You only listened to me. Well, and Jared. But I didn't, I just didn't like it. Like, I didn't think it was commercially viable. Sorry, Jared. I didn't think there were good bands out there, and I was totally wrong. I was blown away on the amount of talent that we've had come through here.

Vance, especially, Vance Skyped into the show. I thought that was extremely cool. We've had deep-down conversations just about what it's like to try to live a Christ-filled life with people who are doing that kind of thing. Yeah. And I don't know, almost every show that we have abandoned here, I'm blown away. Yeah, and Ben from Certainty said, so we wondered about the reaction. He said their reaction was, that was cool. Wonder if they will ask us back. So cool. Hey, cool. It's not, I hope they don't ask us back. He could have just spelled that wrong. It could have been a typing. The wording could have been interpreted incorrectly. That was a mistake. I could have been sleeping. What was I thinking? I'm all huffed up on Jesus, and I make mistakes. I'll agree to anything. That is the problem with throwing it out there for God and saying, Lord, I'll do whatever you want. Where do you end up? Late night internet radio with a bunch of yahoo's in the studio. You know, we should have gotten that clip of where we were trying to test out the phone system, and we were roaming the halls. That was all right. That was a good time. Yeah, that was good. What I miss the most is creepy guy in the window walking back and forth downtown. I only saw him once or twice, but he really did creep me out. Yeah, he was kind of creepy. Yeah, he was a frail, frail monkey. Like, he looked like at any moment he might. Never mind, here he is. There's another creepy guy. Pets has got it under control. What is it with windows and creepy guys?

We need to get rid of windows. Well, you wouldn't see them if there wasn't a window. They're drawn to it like a moth to the flame. That's true. All this light in here, they're coming. Yeah. Actually, that is the goal of this eagle here. So, the Decor Eagle has come by just to, frankly, we're trying to siphon his viewers. So, here's the deal. We put on two hours worth of broadcast. Quality broadcast. Yeah. Put some effort into it. Try to think of stuff to say. Display stuff for Christ. We get 20 people. Nine people. Whatever. And then this eagle, a dude just drops a camera in this eagle's nest. Eagle gets 150,000 viewers. Single camera action. Like, we've overdone it. On the same network we're on. So, it's not. Yeah, it's Ustream. Yes. Yeah, that's it. Yeah, same. Yeah. Because I'm like, wait a minute. I mean, I think he took some of our people. Yeah, that's probably what it is. I think it would be more fascinating to see me in an eagle suit just walking around. Just saying it. I think we could set that up. I'd do it. So, I guess on the chat, how many of you guys are watching that eagle? Admit to it.

I do. 200,000 people. Holy cats. Yeah. They shut it down. That's my goal. I want to shut down Ustream. What do you mean they shut it down? There's 200,000 people watching it at one time trying to watch the eggs hatch. I just don't. I checked it out for two seconds and the eagle was facing the other way with his back. You can see the back of his head. And I thought, this is stupid. I saw him feed his little egg eaglets. Is that how you say eaglets? It draws you in. Is that what you say, eaglets? Yes. Those of us in the know. I guess. Eaglets. Part of the 200,000. We're part of the number. It's across the board. People dig on it. It is. It's really cool. Dan, no highlights? Any other highlights? You know, that has to be one of my biggest highlights is the smelly politician thing. I mean, that was hilarious. Because part of me wanted to laugh and part of me wanted to say, I bet he's never got that question. And part of me wanted to sink deep, deep, deep down into my chair going, I'm a guest as well. I don't belong to this program. I don't associate myself with you. As soon as I found out he wasn't going to give me a job, I thought, well, forget it then.

Forget it. You're all smelly. You know, the problem is we have no legitimate interviewing skills. So like the conversation with Dave Funk, if you let a politician run the table, they'll run the table. And he was, no offense to him, but he was blathering on for, I mean, an hour and 20 minutes. And we tried to draw him into some conversations, but he wouldn't bite. I think we were trying to get him to say a certain local senator was smelly. Yes. And perhaps a potential upcoming governor. Yeah. And he refused. Absolutely refused. Or an outgoing governor. Yeah. Now, probably to his credit, he wouldn't play ball. And we even tried to get him off the air to say, look, all right, we're not broadcasting anymore. Really? Who stinks? Who's smelly? Yeah. Who's smelly at the statehouse? Who is it? Who would you not want to stand by? We really need to know this. He wouldn't pony it up. As citizens. Concerned citizens. Now, that's the question, though. Like, is that a high, is that show high moral character? Or are you just playing the game so well that you won't, you don't want to delve in? I'm thinking that's playing the game. Yeah. Because, you know, somebody, the wrong person gets a hold of that clip. What are they, what are they going to do? Put up a political line that says, Dave Funk thinks that guys are smelly. I mean, that's a detriment to you?

It's amazing the things that the ruined people's going to see him in his next campaign. He's just a guy that tells the truth, you know? Congressman Funk thinks people are smelly. Maybe he thinks that of you. Maybe he thinks taxpayers are smelly. You as a voter are smelly. You know what else he thinks is smelly? The Constitution. I can see it coming already. He hates the smell of your liberty. Freedom. Do you smell that, Dave Funk? We didn't have any politicians after that. No, I know. You'd think they'd flock. I think that was a good move. They hit the circuit. WHO, live from the path. There's still time. We could still reel them in. I think we could. I mean, again, they do get desperate. Say, hey, man, come on. We've got presidential candidates coming. Yeah. We are going to be the hot spot here in a few months. We are now. Should we get Gingrich? Do you want to have Gingrich on? Yeah. I want to see how far they'll pander to us to try to get the evangelical vote. I think that would be awesome. We had some nice meals. Yeah. Nice hotel. I just had a flashback to Ben. We went to this preacher thing. Oh, jeez.

And they gave us this nice meal, a little banquet. And, you know, all the big wigs were there. Gingrich was there. And who all was there? Bachman. Yeah, Michelle Bachman was there. Who's that other guy? Wait a minute. Was this the conservative religious conference last week? Hey, it was free food in a motel. It was great. I didn't ask what you thought. But I just asked, is that what it was? It was a really good conference. But anyway, we had this really nice dinner going on. And, you know, everybody's in ties and suits and everything's great. Everything's all fancy. And there's this little… I refuse the suit, by the way. Yeah, he was on one of those. Little saucer with those little butter patties that look like little flowers, you know? Yeah, yeah. And they pass the rolls. And then we kind of pass the… And I'm kind of watching what's going on on the stage. And out of the corner of my eye, I see Ben reach out with his hand and pick up a little slab of butter. And I'm thinking to myself, dude, use a knife. He's a little refined. And then I see him stick it in his mouth. That's awesome. Did you think it was a dinner mint? Yeah, I thought it was a big dinner mint. You have… Okay, okay. And I'm thinking, how long would this take for him to just barf? Okay, being a guy that has DJed a lot of weddings and seen my dad DJ a lot of weddings, seen my brother DJ a lot of weddings, the look of those things are very similar. They're tough.

When you see the dinner mints, and then you see the butter flowers. Yeah, when there's something right next to the dinner rolls. I'm just like… I'm just like… You never know. Somebody might eat the roll and just have a mint. And then Dan sneaks in his chair and goes, I'm just a guest here. Man, that roll made my breath horrible. I think I need a dinner mint. Oh, that's butter. It was awesome. I was just… I can't remember what I said. I kind of finally said, okay, I've got to break it here. Did you just eat that butter? Why didn't you stop? Well, I'm watching out of the corner of my eye, and I'm like, did he just put that in his mouth? I'm pretty sure he just put that thing of butter in his mouth. Don't even try and play it like you saw it in slow-mo. You're like… Oh, no. It was just like… Well, I was just still processing. Why did he pick up that butter with his fingers? Ooh, butter. You're just feeling the texture, and you can't do that with a knife. Dan goes, I think we made a mistake here. I shouldn't have brought him. I mistook Jesus tapping on my shoulder for indigestion. Put that man back. I should have waited to see what the Lord had finished saying. Instead of, hey, Dan, get that guy. It's, hey, Dan, get that guy out of here. You've been listening to Live from the Path. This is the one-year anniversary show. If you grow tired of the basketball game and you'd like to swing back down here, we are still offering free pizza, soda, popcorn, free hugs from Rick Gray, and we'll keep pants at least 10 to 15 feet away.

This is a perfect example of our broadcasting excellence. Let's go ahead and plan our one-year anniversary party with pizza, popcorn, and beverages on the night of the national championship basketball game for college. Whatever. We're trying to beat out our competition. Here's what I'm telling you. They don't have pizza. We're going to shut down Ustream. Here's what I'm telling you. Jesus is watching our show. That's right. Somebody else is watching our show. Well, technically, we're going to be honest. Jesus is watching the basketball game. No, he's not. No, he can block it out. He's all powerful. He's just like, man, I really don't want to watch that basketball game. He takes in what he takes in. He says, no. Baylor? What does he need to watch it for? He already knows what's going to happen. Goaltending in the third quarter. He already knows what's going to happen with this show, too. Yeah, but he likes to be part of it live. Because where we are gathered, there he will be. Exactly. And like I said. Until we put that fathead donkey in here. That basketball game. Oh, yeah. Pants ordered a fathead donkey. It's going to go right behind Troy. It's going to be awesome. Okay. All right. You're listening to the one-year anniversary show.

So thank you for hanging out with us for our life in the path. We've gone through three different studios, some different time slots, a lot of different stuff going on. So I really appreciate you guys as listeners. I know it's – I'm not sure I could stay up late and watch this calliope going on. So we really do appreciate you guys doing so. And for those of you that have been hanging around and watching this show since the beginning, we've put together some clips for you to enjoy. Anyway, so this is one year of Live from the Path. Live from the REMAX studios in downtown Des Moines. It's 6 a.m. and you are live. It's a lot of pressure. It makes me probably the old guy in the room. I'm sorry. I got three chauvinists looking at me saying, what are you doing in the kitchen, Mary? What do you want? I don't go to a movie with Whoopi in it. I mean, I'm a maggot. Bacon, I think. And cheese. You can buy this mouse for $19.95. And here's a little Jesus. Cerebral because I like to put my favorite things on my boxers. So hey, you guys. Where is American Samoa? I don't have much of a back hair problem. But I mean, if I did, I wouldn't want to have to ask my lady to take care of me. And it says I'm overly acidic. You seem to both have possum-type characteristics that I can all-knowing. Can we say butt? That's why I go speedo. Very nice. Very nice. The origami undies. You're way too intellectually invested in your underwear. I wore a hole in my pants. Right. I mean, my boxers were shown when I left at 4 in the morning.

Your grandma's friend is really Ben Vereen. It's like holding a very warm, dead fish. Oh, this will save me time later. I won't have to re-watch the show. It's a long delay. You know cars can't function on wall peanut butter. Does that help? It's very adult, Daniel. We tried to pick him up, but he stopped to pee in the bushes. And we couldn't wait. You spent your holiday season hawking pagan Christmas wares? I got it, I chicken. Just saying branch out a little bit, that's all I'm saying. What? This is going to be the most interesting three minutes of radio I've ever heard. Men do not smoke Virginia slums. There you go. Nice to say it. Do lights jump from one head to another? You can't convince your mind to allow yourself to pee your own pants. Like it's out. Chicken, chicken, chicken. Old some ketos and chicken, chicken, chicken, chicken. I got this cat skeleton to me. I'm full. I'm hungry. I think I'll have that again. You're listening to Life from the Past. My observation in life is the whiniest people on earth tend to be Christians. Okay, first of all, you're not funny. So don't even worry about it. No, I thought it was great. I don't need your approval, Daniel. Slowjack. Hey. Slowjack. Look at that slowjack. Find me a slowjack.

Come on, man. In either case, I'm growing my mustache in here until the world understands me for who I am. Not just a cool guy in a sauna, but a well-educated man who gets all his information from Live from the Past. There is a half-naked bust mannequin woman in the church office, along with a plastic BB handgun. And I say, what goes on in here? It's like that time you claimed that you created the peanut butter that rolls up like a deodorant. I've said too much. It gets hot and burns me. Where's them shady internet characters? That's who I want. Giving my kid a pucker on the head. I've always been just freaky. Looks like the back alley, you know, used donkey dealer. Who left my underwear outside in the rain? What's next? A bag full of aphids that eat your face? Christians don't have gas. That's the deal. Do not ever buy deodorant at an airport. Next time I find a naked dude out rolling around in my rock garden, I'm going to come look up for you and say, you caused this. What's I've got to do with it? Big sir, the best waterbeds, that's for sure, big sir. Waterbeds. Funk kind of did that on that smelly politician question. Yeah, that's true. Funk, I've worn a dress. Oh yeah. I fell asleep at the wheel. We had like a gang of feral cats. What's a doobie? Hey, you know what? You're fat. Donkey ribcage, 30 bucks. Where'd you get that?

There it's coming. Oh. Okay. Anyway, you're listening to Silk Sheets and Rainbows. My name's Ben. I call it the street Jesus. Now hold on, hold on. I'm not past this yet, Cassie. I'm sorry. You don't like any sandwiches? I've written Abby and said, Mike and Ben, they make fun of my shirt every single week. They say I look like a couch. What should I do? Hey Ben, the van's going to stink. I could have said it was Big Jager if I'd have known him face to face when he was my father. This has been Live from the Path. Daniel, what did I tell you about that? We'll see you next week. Have a wonderful week. It's jazzy. I'm trying to put a little culture in here. It sounds like rain. This song is way awesome. It's funky. It's like… That's more like a chicken thing. Dan? I'm going to go for it. You see that move that they do where, like, what cruise? I speak Portuguese. Hey, hey, no. King de Guadal. What? Dan started it. Alright, ready? One. From his hiding place, Jack is… Dan's breathing heavy.

Microphone. Jack is hiding. That head thing was classic. And Jack rushed out and grabbed the hem. That's realistic. And then Jack took a grab. What do you think an accosted head sounds like? Excuse me for that. You've been listening to… That hurts. The one-year anniversary compendium of Life of the Path. Thank you for hanging out. I don't know. I think we missed all the Jesus parts in there. That's very true. Oh, yeah. Jesus. Yeah. And we love Jesus, and Jesus loves us, by the way. By the way, yeah. So, the last two scenes, and they're some of my favorites, is us trying to record our tales from the path. And that particular one, I had to cut out… I mean, it must have taken us an hour to record that goofy Jack and the Beanstalk, because we could not pull it together. Mike and that stupid head noise. It was classic. I couldn't reproduce it if I wanted to. It's awesome. I'm only good at a couple of things. Oh, mercy. I forgot to… Oh, there's one of those… You know what? Some of the best show moments that we've had in here over the years have when Cinema Fire comes in. Yeah. How many times have we had them fellas in?

Three? Two? No, just two. Just, man. Seems like six. Yeah, it seems like they were just part of the show. We were going to have to start sending them a paycheck. Well, they called, like, once. They were on the road, and they called in, and they were touring. And I guess they've been on chat here a couple times. Yep. They popped in with different things. So… Yeah. It's kind of like they're part of the family. Yeah, yeah. They have kind of the same… And we've gone to some concerts. That's probably why it's like, we just feel like we're always stalking them or something. Yeah, that's true. That's true. Which you should definitely go see. In fact, they just played a show, what was it, Friday night? At Central College, yeah. With On This Rock and… No. No, not On This Rock. Saved on Sunday. No, that was two weeks ago. Dang it. They were at Central College on Friday or Saturday with the salt. The salt. Yeah. The one-man salt. But yeah, they're always a ton of fun. I remember the first time they came, like, we didn't really have a good feel for how many people were in their band. And I…

Like, all of our rooms have been pretty small. Yeah. And we got in there. I mean, and we were packed in. Yeah. I mean, packed in there. You got pretty stuffy. Yeah. It was pretty tight. But they were… They're awesome to have in. They're really… I mean, they're fun to talk to. They're Christ-centered. They've got all kinds of cool stories. And stuff. Yeah. They're awesome to have in. In fact, that's where we were talking about them, about the House of Prayer. And that's where we got in that big debate about the International House of Prayer and the International House of Pancakes. Oh, right. Them trying… In fact, IHOP, incidentally, is Kids Eat Free on… In April. Florida. Whatever. I didn't know that. Florida Clothes. At the House of Prayer. Does that mean I'm still a kid? No. At the Pancakes. At the Pan of Cakes. Hey, I look like I'm 12, so I think I can pull it off. Sure. That's what I thought, too, when I first met you. You know what?

I think you were… When you first met me, I was taller than you and like 20 years younger. I'm pretty sure you were 12 when I first met you. Maybe. But what I love about the bands coming in is that it's been really cool and they play some really good music and, you know, I enjoy music, but I'm not like a musician. I can't appreciate it to the level like the part you guys do who are actual musicians, you know, and I have a tendency to listen to music and kind of like, oh, that's a nice beat and catch a few of the words and then I'm like thinking about, oh, this is really nice. Oh, I wonder when it rained last, you know. I'm just thinking, who knows what goes through my mind? You're not cultured. Yeah, they'll usually end the music. Well, Dan, what'd you think of that? I'm like, popcorn. That's true. I thought it was really nice. I don't know what to say. That was awesome. It's a band that comes in that there's always like, and they all play good tunes, but there was one tune out of like the whatever three or four that they generally play that I really like, hold on to and keep, you know. And, you know, in fact, on this rock, I think he has two that I remember constantly that come up in my like day-to-day life. I'll think about it and then saved on Sunday. And then, of course, Syndrome of Fire's got some. And, man, we've had, who else have we had? We've had Jess and Jordan Anderson in here. Yeah, they were excellent. Those were the folks where Jess had just signed with BEC Records. And they're re-releasing her album in May. So you can, because we had, in fact, we had a bunch of people watch the show with Jessa and Jordan. And then they came up to me and asked, like, where can I buy the CD and stuff at? And she was like in between labels or talking to a label or whatever. So couldn't sell the most current one. But that one will be out in May.

So, you know, pick that up. That's exciting. Yeah. In fact, and we should have a signed copy coming. I recall asking her when they were here if I could have a, if we could have a signed copy. I'll bet they remember. She didn't disagree. Yeah. We'll have to, what we'll have to do is just cut that part of the show and email it to them. Yeah. And so we'll just cut that part and then we'll send it out and we'll see if we can't get some tunes. And it was funny. So we have clips of Jessa up on YouTube and somebody did a video response to it. This happened this week. Did you decline it? No. I thought you, did you? No. I didn't. So someone did a video response to one of Jessa Anderson's songs. Like, they responded on ours and showed, like, themselves playing it. It wasn't very good. It wasn't classic. Yeah, I'm sure it's flattering for an artist to have someone out there who's like, oh, I love this song and they wanted to cover it and they wanted to play it and everything. It wasn't very good. That's like me going to the Saved on Sunday website and going, YouTube girl, YouTube girl. Actually, we're not bad, Troy. Sorry. I wanted to jump into that one. When I was here, I was out in the actual non-studio. I was hanging out being the live audience and I was just rocking on the couch. I was like, man, I'm loving this. Him leaning back, YouTube girl. I'm like, yeah.

That one was kind of catchy. Yeah. That was great. Yeah. And let's see, Certainty has been here. Those guys are a ton of fun. Oh, man. Yeah, they are. They're very cool. And then we had Tim Cooper and Friends. Tim Cooper and Friends. Eyes Wide Open been here recently. I mean, we just had a slew of bands in here. Remember that time? Okay, so this is one of the classic one-liners that I could not find fast enough to get it in there. But when Dan asked Tim Cooper whether his mom was fat. Oh, yeah. That was classic. You're a horrible person. He is a horrible person. We were talking about Tim Cooper draws hippos all the time. Like on his mail. He sends mail to people. Those are lizards. Lizards on the mail. No, no. Hippos is studio. No, no. Uh-uh. No. I just listened to the show. I just listened to it this week. I posted the lizard on the- That was a side conversation that was about a lizard that he drew and posted on Craigslist. All right. That's right. He was trying to sell it.

Yeah. The hippos he draws on everything. And so we were trying to- Dan goes, we should do a Freudian couch session on why you draw hippos. Was your mom fat? That, again, is a good example of the quality that we produce here. Which is why people constantly- I thought you were sensitive, man. Not really. No. You know, what was happening is we were talking about something, and Dan kind of- He probably started thinking about something else. Popcorn. And he's like, is your mom fat? Is your mom fat? Remember- You remember that time we- So we were playing with the Skype. Like, we Skyped a few folks in. We were trying to look for somebody in a foreign country with the name Jesus Christ. Or like people from the Bible. We were looking for them on Skype and then tried to call them without regards to like what time of day it was in their country. Yeah. That didn't go very well. It didn't go well at all. No. No. You know what might be interesting, too, is the ideas that we've come up with that we've had to drop. Like, we've had, you know, so the end product you see is the best of the best, which is maybe kind of sad. But there's been a thousand ideas behind it that we've thrown out there, and they've failed to come to fruition. Yeah. And I don't know. It's scary. Like my video skit?

Yeah. Yeah. Just certain ideas that we thought we were going to do. We were going to try to pull off, and then we, I don't know, they got shoved away somehow. They sound so good up here. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, man. I wrote this. In fact, I still have it. I should still use it. But I wrote a script for, like, we were going to try to pull a, we're going to pull a prank. So, like, I was going to go through and record myself in each one of the spots as if Mike and Dan had been let go of the show, and, like, I had different co-hosts. And I had a whole script ready to go, and the script was all right. But, you know, things you just never get around to. It didn't quite come to fruition. Giant deer head. Yeah. We were going to have an inflatable deer and an inflatable bull fighting out in the lobby. Yeah. We never did pull that out. We still have those, though. Yeah. Yeah. We got a picture of Jared and that inflatable deer. Yeah. Those are funny. I mean, you end up being, like, an eight-foot-tall inflatable deer head. It's pretty cool. Yeah. Oh, we should have dug up the footage of Jared playing in front of the crappy lights. Poor old Jared Roy, our worship pastor. We had him in. Oh, man. It was, well, probably a couple months in. Yeah, we were pretty fresh. It was pretty newish.

And we're like, we need to start having musical guests. So we convinced our worship leader, Jared Roy, to come in. And he's such a sport. Because we put them up and we hung these lights from the ceiling. And they were just scary and ridiculous. And it was not a good production. Little disco room. And he totally agreed to do it and never said two words about it. And, you know, he helped get our music ministry kind of off the ground with this show. And so that was really cool of him to do. But, boy, I wouldn't have wanted to be him that day. Now, in the beginning, weren't we, like, contacting all kinds of churches, asking them to bring their church worship bands out? Yeah. Yeah. And then we got connected up with the Spirit Midwest. And all of a sudden, things started flying. It was like there's all these bands out there we didn't know existed. Yeah, no idea. That's pretty cool. There's just a ton of them. Yeah. In fact, I mean, we got three or four more on the line that we're looking to get in and see if we can't get them to come in the show. So that would be pretty cool. And, in fact, what I'm really looking forward to is we're coming up on music season. Like, Spirit Midwest is in August. And we have a season of prayer we're going to talk about here for a little bit tonight. And then after our prayer room kind of comes and goes and we see what the Lord's got left in the shake, then we'll hopefully start heading on to some bands. It'll become a music season and we'll start promoting the Spirit Midwest Festival. And we just get talent after talent coming in here on the way up to the music festival. And so you'll see a lot of people that you've seen before, you know, familiar favorites like Vance, hopefully we'll be able to make it in, save it on Sunday, all those guys that we've had in here recently. And then hopefully some new characters to come in and either, you know, dislike us and say so in the car or hopefully we can have them back in. Or say it's cool, I hope they'll have us back. I believe David Crotter's been trying to get in, hasn't he? You know, him and David Bush, we should have him come in. Maybe he's playing again this year.

Do a little duet. I'll call him. I'm going to call him personally this time. You have been listening to. That's not good. Ivan's in the stream. That is what we are. Is that that again? Anyway, you've listened to Live from the Path, broadcasting live on livefromthepath.org. You can catch us during the week on that same website. You can find archived shows, links to performances from some of the artists that we've had on. You can also sign up for the podcast and the newsletter. We were talking a little bit earlier about Jesse Anderson, so I thought we'd go ahead and play a clip. This is not what I thought. This is, if you ever listen to the local Christian Station 99.5, let's get some airtime on there. And she has, I think this is over 11,000, almost 12,000 YouTube hits on this video from our show. And it's really taken off. It's quite the popular song. This is Jesse Anderson with Not What I Thought. This is no ordinary, rational feeling. I am overtaken by a panic and run. I have fallen by the wayside many times before. And I have learned to use this love as a weapon. And I am caught up by the common. And as usual, I have nearly followed till my spirit was numb. I continually ascend to a never-ending, collecting all the things that matter the most. And you're not what I thought when I saw you. I have been running for so long and so far. I haven't got what I thought I would find to fill the empty up. But you're not what I thought. No, you're not what I thought. There is a manor I've quietly tucked away. Yet it is fighting for a place at the top. I am dying to believe I'm big enough to try. But it's a battle I am losing alone. And you're not what I felt when I saw you. I have been running for so long and so far. I haven't got what I thought I would find to fill the empty up.

But you're not what I thought. Ooh, I'll cover it when I was missing all along. Ooh, I'm giving everything for the war for this one. For the war is one. I thought when I saw you I have been running for so long. But now I'm about something else, something more. No, you're not what I thought. Oops, I got it. All right. Yep. That was Jesse Anderson, Not What I Thought. Yeah, that one's flying off the shelf. I like that song. I have listened to it several times myself just because I enjoy it. Oh, do you? I do. I think she's good. And then not what I thought. I like to do my own rendition. I recorded myself doing it and was going to put it on the YouTube. But apparently that doesn't go over very well. Why would I Skype you in? What do you mean? I didn't try to Skype in. Oh, no. Sorry. What are you even talking about? I'm mixing two conversations. The chat is talking about Skyping in Matt Cassidy and then something about you. And I thought, I don't want to Skype my kid. He's in the studio. Sorry. Because it's not what I thought. Everybody has those things. And they came to church. They came to our church and performed, too. And they did a great job there, too. They did.

I held that baby. Yeah. That big kid loved me. I gave him chocolate. You did not. First of all, it's a girl. That's why they'll never come back. Uh-oh. I gave someone else's baby chocolate. Bummer. That actually, that was also, that was a very awkward moment. So Dan was out for the week. And so we had Matt come in. Matt Cassidy came in. And he has much more of a personality for like a talk radio type of deal than we have. Yeah. And he was getting all fired up about Dairy Queen or whatever. And it's like reeling back and yelling and throwing pins and stuff around. He threw a pin. Yeah. He threw a pin. I was going to kick him out. Ben told me I couldn't. I did say that, yeah. I said, one more time, and you're out of here. Do not throw another pin. He didn't throw another pin. That was, I'm trying to think if there were any other wild, there weren't really any other wild happenings. We've never had unruliness. I mean, we had some issues at the old studio that were always comical. We had those folks that tried to bear their business to the world. Do you remember that? Oh, yeah. Remember we had some kind of half-flasher at the other studio? Yeah. I'll say, too. It was a lame attempt, for one.

It wasn't good. I don't remember. You know, I've never had that problem. If I want to show my goods, I'd get it done. I don't know that I would fail at it. You really just creep me out saying that. I'm just going to throw that out there. Are you telling me that you don't have enough practice? Hey, let me ask you this question. Is it wrong to moon somebody? Yes. Why? Because it's just immature. Why? What about it? Is it immature? There's something kind of indecent about it. But what? But what? I mean, is it all right just to walk around with no pants on? It's two half circles combined. It is only a behind. Yeah. It is only a behind. To you, but to someone else. Yeah. Why would anyone be offended? That'd be like showing somebody your foot. Everyone has a foot. All right, Hugh Hefner. Yeah, exactly. You have fun with that one. It's just a breast. But that's different. Yeah, that's just a circle. Hey, I thought we were talking about two half circles coming together. We're talking about behind. So two buns make a breast.

What prompted you to go down this road? We need to stop doing this geometry. Somebody was telling a story at work about sitting at a restaurant with a bunch of kids. Like there was like 12 or 13 junior high girls sitting next to her and her two younger boys and the dad. And so anyway, they were leaving and the girls were leaving at the same time. And this kid is like doing the armpit wind at him. And the dad makes a message. He goes, you know, if that was your older brother, he would have given him the moon. So then the kid whips out the white, the pale pasty white and shows it to these ladies as they're driving away. And I thought, well, that's funny. And I thought, I'm not supposed to enjoy that. That's not funny? I thought it was funny. I think that I've mooned somebody. I've done it. I don't remember. We can't remember when I've done it or what cause I was doing it. Okay. Well, Chad says it caused him to stumble. How so? Like you saw somebody's moon and you're like, where do you go with that? Yeah. It wouldn't cause me to stumble. It would just make me go like, that's just not right. That's something I don't need to see. Put that away. But yeah, please. Yeah. Yeah. Cover that up. Why does he have, maybe he, well, all right. All right, fine. Hey, remember that time, sorry, the chat was mentioned in, remember that time Pants was lying about calling the holiday in about them fresh rolls? Yep. We're trying to score some, we're trying to score some fresh holiday in sitting rolls because they're excellent. And Pants puts on this big story as if he's calling them on the phone.

Yeah, I talked to the manager. That was pretty funny. Yeah. It was the, it was the biggest pack of lies though. I mean. It was. They weren't nasty. Who said that? I've not trusted him since. Come on, woman. You know them, you know them rolls are decent. Oh, you gotta get them fresh. Oh, they're fantastic. Yeah. There's something fierce. We, ah, we should have, we should have ordered those for the one year anniversary show. That's what we should have done. Yeah. That would have been the thing. We can't do anything right around here. Nah. Next March, we'll go to Tampa for the, uh. We still got pizza. Yes. We stay at the Holiday Inn Express. That's exactly right down the road from it. Are we go, oh, you guys are going to Tampa. Well, yeah. Me and Troy are not going. Oh, hey. You guys want to be our next campus pastors? No. No. I still, I still enjoy a moon in too much. I obviously can't be part of this deal. I don't know if enjoying mooning is what's keeping me back from Tampa. I don't like being, I don't like being mooned, but I don't mind mooning somebody if I think it's necessary.

Obviously, Mike doesn't embrace the golden rule. What? Do unto others what you would do. Well, he says he doesn't mind it. Yeah. I'm not offended by it. So, I guess that does kind of embrace it. Moon unto others. Moon unto others the way that others would moon unto you. I said I don't mind it. That doesn't mean I enjoy it. We're going to hang that up in children's classrooms. Moon unto others the way that others would moon unto you. Well, that's just ridiculous. Now, I didn't say it like that. I just said I'm not offended by it. So, here's a regret. Let's put it this way. So, we went to, my wife and I spent a semester in London, and we decided that we were going to go to Ireland. Oh, Ireland-y. But we didn't have any money or time to go hang out in Ireland. So, we took this boat from Wales just so we could, like, walk in Ireland and then walk back. I mean, we literally were there for 40 minutes or whatever. And I did moon. I did have the moon out in Ireland. Was it one of those moony beaches or something? No. It was cold, too. It was really cold out. So, what was the specific reasoning for mooning? I just thought, I'd like to have my butt out in Ireland. Why don't you just, like, ask if you can use someone's shower real quick or go to the bathroom? Oh, right. That's not more awkward. Excuse me.

Can I use your shower? I came over from America. Can I use your shower? Okay. Ask if you can use your bathroom real quick. I don't want to do it in their house. I kind of like being out. I was going to say, you're going to have your moon out in Ireland. There was nobody around. It was, I don't know, 38 degrees out. It was like the countryside or something. So, there was absolutely no driving reason for you to moon, except for the primal need to moon in Ireland and have it out in Ireland. That was the only reason. I can't imagine the thought process of like, I'm happy to be in Ireland right now. I said it was a regret. I think I'll drop my pants. Your bum has tasted the wind in the Ireland ways. Sweetie, you know, we're in Ireland now. I think my butt deserves to see this. These hills are gorgeous. Check it out. Whep. This is the oddest conversation I've had in my life, I think. Whep. I don't know what sound taking your pants off makes, but whep sounded like it really was going to fit there. I didn't say it was a good decision. I'm just saying that's what happened. So, here was the worst part. That's not even the worst part. Or the best part, depending on who you are. So, I took a picture. And so, we took a picture of it. A friend of ours who would become friends after being overseas, her camera got stolen or broken or whatever. And so, all her pictures were ruined. So, to help remember her time, she asked if she could have copies of our pictures.

So, we just copied everything and sent it over. She didn't know. And she didn't really. We just sent the digital files over. That's the best part. So, like, she sets the. She didn't look through all of them, but she set that folder as her picture screensaver. All of a sudden, my butt is out of your house. That literally just made. I mean, that atones for everything that you did, just wanting to take your butt out when you were in Ireland. The fact that you made someone scrolling screensaver with you just like, hey, it's Ireland. Woo-hoo! Oh, man. Oh, the same for service. I can't quite think of what the conversation was when she had to call my wife and say, hey, by the way, Ben's butt is on my computer at the moment. I swear I didn't take the picture. Maybe it was a mistake. I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't have done the same thing today. Although, if I hadn't, I wouldn't have been able to tell that story. That's true. Wow. Who knows where that picture could be right now. Facebook profile. You're doing this pretty good for streaming, yeah. You're listening to Live from the Path. Forgive me, Father, for I've mooned. In Ireland. It was a mistake. Forgive me, Father, for I've mooned. Oh, I think we have an English. All right. Moving on. So, here we go. If you're just joining us, you… We're sorry. We're sorry, yeah.

My apologies. It's nothing. Hey, it's honest faith. That's what happened. If you're just joining us, you're listening to Live from the Path. We have a new segment for you tonight. Okay, and I'm trying to think of the best way to put this. I'll tell you what. Why don't you just sit back and be prepared to enjoy Deuteronomy or Dan? Deuteronomy. Dan. Deuteronomy. Dan. Deuteronomy. Dan. Very good. That's Deuteronomy or Dan. If you would have had that moon shot, it might have been better. Boom. Right at the end. All right. So, the premise of the game is this. Dan will give you a law, and you have to decide whether it is a legitimate law from Deuteronomy, from the Old Testament, or whether it is a law that Dan made up. Okay? All right. All right. Here we go. All right. This is somewhat tough, because some of the laws are just kind of laws, and some are just like parts of conversation almost. So, this might be a part of a verse that is part of a law. For example, the first one, Deuteronomy or Dan, do not eat anything you find already dead. Chat? Deuteronomy or Dan? Pat, how many pieces of pizza have you eaten? And was it dead? Was it dead before you got it?

We're about to know whether or not that's a law. I'm going to say, what was it again? Do not eat anything you find already dead. I'd say Deuteronomy. I'm thinking roadkill. I'm saying Deuteronomy. I'm saying Dan. I'm voting Deuteronomy. Chat, we have a Dan. We have a Deuteronomy. What do you got, Dan? It is Deuteronomy 1421. Boom. Score one. Deuteronomy 1421. Don't eat the roadkill. Is that the entire verse? No, it goes on, but I don't have that with me. It's just context. Well, that would be handy, wouldn't it? Yeah, it would. So I can verify your sources here? We can grab a Bible or something if you want to. Deuteronomy 1421. You can look it up. This is a mistake to tell this, but it was so, uh, I've thought of it. That's how all the greatest live from the path conversations have gone. Errors today. So we, um, we were in some kind of, I worked at the, uh, a restaurant. I was in Ireland and I saw a dead muskrat. I was in Ireland and I was mooning and I saw a dead deer on the road and I wanted to eat it. We were in some kind of a restaurant battle. So I worked at a, at a pizza joint in Altoona and there was a, another fast food restaurant close by and I can't remember, we got in some sort of, uh, tiff of playing pranks. I think they, we offered to trade them pizza for food. Uh, we think that we got hosed on the food they provided and I think that's where it started. So anyway, so we got and we, me and this other dude went and got some, uh, some suits at

the, at the Goodwill or DAV that we thought would make it look like road crew. And so we went driving around town and found like a dead raccoon or skunk and we shoveled it up and put it in the back of this, of the, of the truck. And then we hung it over the, uh, the fast food restaurants drive-thru box. Oh, oh, that just seems like disastrous for a customer. Yep. And then decided it was a terrible idea and pulled it back. Especially since they had like a camera. Yeah. Yeah. I wonder who did this. It was a mistake. Yeah. I've worked at a couple of fast food joints. What was it? What was the verse, Dan? 1421. Okay. A steel trap up here, man. You shall not eat anything that has died naturally. You may give it to the sojourner who is within your town. Yeah. And he may eat it. He may give it to the alien. Or you may sell it to a foreigner. Wow. If they don't have a green card, go ahead and sell it to them. For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. Quotes, you shall not boil a young goat in its mother's milk. Man, Deuteronomy is rough. There's some odd stuff in there. For example, Deuteronomy or Dan. Okay, I'm ready. Do not ride sideways on the back of a donkey for that is detestable to the Lord. Dan. So Dan. Do not ride sideways on the back of a donkey for that is detestable to the Lord. Dan.

Even Pat says Dan. All right. Pat and I are looking at Dan. Okay, I'll vote Dan. I'll go with Pat on this one. I'm going to actually go Dan as well. That was way too obvious. I should have saved that until later. And the Lord said unto thee, ride your donkey in the correct fashion. Oh yeah, didn't ladies do that? They probably did. It wasn't against the law. That's in the Western movies. It does not say anywhere in the script. Wild, wild Babylon. The ladies did not ride donkeys in the Old Testament. They walked with the fowl. It's the wild, wild Babylon. I'm sorry about that. You thought wild, wild Babylon was funny? I'm just getting a graphic for it. I was disgusted. Go ahead. Deuteronomy or Dan. Do not sacrifice to the Lord your God an ox or a sheep that has any defect or flaw in it, for that would be detestable to him. Deuteronomy. That's got to be Deuteronomy, right? Unless Dan is slick enough to include Lord your God. He's a smoothie. If I hadn't recently seen the Ten Commandments, I might believe it's not Deuteronomy. Your God of bondage. I'm going to say Deuteronomy. I'm going to go Deuteronomy. Deuteronomy. Chat. Votes are for. Let's see.

Deuteronomy, dude. The woman calls it the dude. Nice. Dan is the dude? No. Oh, Deuteronomy. She calls Deuteronomy the dude. Okay. Yeah, that's Deuteronomy. 17-1. Thank you. Ah, Dan. This was hard because it was kind of long. And it's like, how do I shorten that? Okay. All right. Do the outro again before Dan starts. Go ahead. Deuteronomy. Dan. Deuteronomy. Dan. Deuteronomy. Dan. Do not touch the entrails of a dead animal that lies along the side of a road. You will become unclean before the Lord your God. Oh. Wait a minute. You could… You could touch other parts of it, just not the entrails? Or you could sell it to a foreigner. I'm going with Dan. Can you read the question again? Do not touch the entrails of a dead animal that lies along the side of the road, or you will become unclean before the Lord your God. Oh, man. Yeah. I'm saying Dan.

Just to be a pass, Deuteronomy. Pants? Pants says Deuteronomy. Chet says Dan. It's 50-50 on this one, Daniel. It's Dan. Oh. Come on. No entrail touching. Come on. You tarnished my perfect record. I was doing good. Do not plow with an ox and a donkey yoked together. Oh, Dan. Dan. You know what, Dan? I thought you could handle this. I thought you could handle these questions. You did quite the poker face. You did a secular Solomon that I thought was top-notch, and then you get your own segment, and this is what you do. Do not drive a Dodge Durango, Deuteronomy, or Dan. So what's your answer? Dan. Dan. Deuteronomy. The chat's voting for Dan. Deuteronomy, 2210. Oh, yeah. No way. 2210. You're kidding me. Do not plow with an ox and a donkey yoked together. You didn't see that coming? No, I didn't see that coming. You pair of bongos. Okay, you know what? I set you up.

That's question one. When I go up to the big guy, why not? What's wrong with a donkey and an ox? Yeah, good luck. I'm sure he's going to deal with your pipe questions. By the way, Lord and Savior, what's with the donkey and the ox and the donkey? That's so cute. I appreciate salvation and everything, but come on. It's like, thanks and all. Like, really? Maybe they fight. Or they fight with each other. Yeah, whatever, Con. You missed out with something fierce. All right, Deuteronomy or Dan. Do not wear clothes of wool and linen woven together. Pan says Deuteronomy. I'm waiting on this one. I'm waiting for other answers. You can't wait. Fine, fine, fine. Deuteronomy. Actually, no, Dan. Excuse me. I changed it. Dan. Pick a horse and bet on it, Dingle Dinger. Deuter Dan. I go for Deuteron of Dan. I'm picking Dan. I go Dan. I'm going Deuteronomy. It is Deuteronomy 22, 11. Come on! Strangely, the verse right after the ox and the donkey. It's a wild, wild Babylon. I'm going to do that periodically throughout this show. You're going to do it on the other side of the door if you do it again.

All right, Deuteronomy or Dan. Nice. Do not wake your neighbor before sunrise, for that will cause great strife between you. Dan. Oh, no. Yeah, Dan. What verse, Dan? Oh. Oh. Trying to catch him up. Okay. Do you think you're very tricky? Do you think you're tricky? It's a wild, wild Babylon. It's catchy. It is catchy. Do not wake your neighbor before sunrise, for that will cause great strife between you. Dan. Yeah, I vote for Dan. That's all you, brother. Pants. I'm with Pants all with Deuteronomy. Two dudes. It is Dan. It is a Dan. It is Dan. I redeemed my losing streak. Dang. There are three more. Okay. Do not charge your brother interest, whether on money or food or anything else that may earn interest. Deuteronomy. Deuteronomy. Dan. Look me in the eyes. Pants and Deuteronomy. It's Dan.

It's Dan. The eyebrow raised. It's Deuteronomy. Ah, yeah. You conniving sneak. You've been charging people interest for years now. What can I say? I have a red Deuteronomy. I'll loan you these two avocados. I've been too busy selling roadkill to foreigners. I can't be bothered with these rules. I like that guy with the cart full of roadkill that he'll, hey man, you from around here? No? Well, then you can buy one. Do I know you live in this village? No? All right. You want a roadkill? Well, there's something to say when you say you're part of God's chosen people because look how he treats the people that ate. I want to get the fresh meat. By the way, there's just a list of clean birds you're allowed to eat. Don't eat anything that died of natural causes unless you're selling it. Unless you're selling it. You sojourner. Go ahead. Go ahead, Peg, and bite the bird. You own it. Do not eat honey that has laid in the sun or raisins that have been stored in damp places. Honey that was laid in the sun? How is it supposed to get to your mouth from the hive? Dan. Yes? I'm saying it. Oh. No, that's Deuteronomy. Dan. I'm voting for Dan.

That's gotta be Deuteronomy. Pat, you can't bow out. What are you voting? Pat says Deuteronomy. Deuteronomy? It is Dan. Ah. The lady in the sun. That's a good one. I don't believe that Andover fest. I thought I was gonna have to go home and move my raisins. Get them out of the cellar. Get out of those damp places. Told you, woman, you can't keep them in there. They'll get moldy. The Lord is getting upset. All right, last one. Deuteronomy or Dan. If you enter your neighbor's vineyard, you may eat all the grapes you want, but do not put any in your basket. I'm sorry, I had to do that. That was nice. Deuteronomy. Dan. If you enter your neighbor's vineyard, you may eat all the grapes you want, but do not put any in your basket. Here's what I'm doing. I'm gonna vote for Dan, but I'm gonna keep fingers crossed on Deuteronomy, because I would like to go mingle in the vineyard. I really want to just go into somebody's place and be like, mm, I'm loving these grapes. Biblical precedence. It's a buffet. Dan the man. Yeah, I'm voting Dan. Deuteronomy. Deuteronomy. Yes. 23-24. Mike. Okay, what's the full verse there, Mike? Okay, Deuteronomy 23.

I think that's the full verse, but look at that. Okay, I got it right here. Some of these, that's why it's kind of hard. Some of them are just like a statement, and some go into more detail. You had me fooled, because with the first couple questions, I think you set us up to think that you were a dunce and weren't gonna be able to pull this game off. Oh, really? And then you come a-running. What did you say, Deuteronomy 23? What was it? 23-24. 23-24. I'm on it. You couldn't remember 23-24? I thought he said four. Okay, when thou comest into thy neighbor's vineyards, then you mayest eat of grapes. Little King James. You mayest eat of thy fill at thine own pleasure, but thou shall not put any in thy vessel. So, long story short. Well, maybe that's just a metaphor for kitchens as a whole. It's the American Standard Version. I'm gonna see Ben in my kitchen someday, just making sure he doesn't have any Tupperware with him, eating my food. Eat all you want, just don't put it in the basket. Settle down, dude. I left my vessel at the door. It's all good. My vessel's outside. I can't bring it with me. Just eating my fill. So, yeah, everybody's vineyard is like an all-you-can-eat buffet. Oh, that is good news. You can eat as much as you want when you're there, but you just can't take any away. Yeah. That is good news. That was before Tupperware parties. I really like Deuteronomy or Dan. I love it. I really like that game. I love it.

Yeah, you have just, if you're new, you have just experienced Deuteronomy or Dan. Deuteronomy. Dan. Deuteronomy. Dan. Deuteronomy. Dan. And break. Fantastic. I love it. Deuteronomy or Dan is killer. Oh, wait. Are you calling him Dan the Dunce or are you voting to watch Dan the Dunce? Well, that hurts. I do love me some Dan the Dunce. That one is way underrated. I had a cap for sales taken off, but Dan the Dunce is solid. I think it looks good. Anyway, you're listening to Live from the Path on livefromthepath.org. You can catch us every Monday night from 10 to midnight. Also, hey, did anybody on the chat catch the Praise 940 show broadcast on? I caught it. It was yesterday at 5? Yeah, I caught it. Mike did not care for it. No, I didn't. 5 in the morning? No, 5 p.m. Okay. I have to confess, it was on. 5 in the morning, I was not there. I was laying on the couch and then I drifted. And then when I woke up, it was like him time. I thought, that's got to be quite an extreme for Joe 940 listeners who's listening to, you know, follow your poo, track your poo into, hold me and grace. And I was just like, wow, that's quite a radical change. They'll get letters on that. They will get letters.

You think we're going to get kicked off a.m. 940? I don't know. I'm just thinking, it's not the same crowd. Was poo tracker the wrong thing to put on there? I thought poo tracker was all right. Sure, I thought it was hilarious, but I was asleep at that point, I think. I didn't hear it. Because I think we're riveting. Oh, it's life in the past. You can't really pay attention during the actual show. Popcorn. Popcorn. Man, those no big cookies are really good. I wonder how many M&Ms I really can eat without getting sick. I wonder if I could eat more red ones than yellow ones. First, let's try the red. Can I put any in my basket? Well, so that's a good point. It's referring to the lack of refrigeration with the chat as hypothesizing because they couldn't store it. But it really didn't say you have to wait for them to call you over. So, I mean, they could have just fresh picked. Are you talking about the grapes? Yeah. About just walking into someone's vineyard, taking it? Yeah. I mean, the way they did vineyards. I mean, if your neighbor owns a Hy-Vee, you can just kind of walk in and eat whatever you want as long as you don't put it in your cart. They always put these big, tall fences around the vineyards and then had a watchtower type of thing for people to watch so people wouldn't come in. So, I kind of wonder about the context of that, too. Of course, at this point, they didn't have land yet. They were still wandering in the desert, getting ready to go and get land. And so, it was kind of looking to the future. By the way, when you're going to stay in one place long enough to plant a vineyard, go ahead. See, I'd be kind of mad about that. In all honesty, you're sitting here listening to this as it's first being said, and I'm

like, all right, I've been living in the desert for a really long time. When I settle down and get my vineyard, I've got to let this dude walk in and eat all of it? Get the lazy bum. Can I go have his goat? Yeah. If they do dare walk into my vineyard, they can have all they want, but I'm going to threaten them so they don't come in. Threaten them? Yeah. Like, hey, man, you stay out of my vineyard. That's what you're going to say? Yeah. I think about it and then stare them down menacingly, like, hey, man, don't you come near my vineyard. Listen here, Hezekiah. Stare to my vineyard. Pants is having more pizza. Pants, are you kidding me? That's like 17 pieces. I had two. That is my vineyard. I was going to explode. How many have you had? He's at our pizza vineyard. He's walking through the life of the past pizza vineyard. Don't take any home with you. I better not see a vessel. Don't put any in your vessel. We found out by the side of the road. You better not be Jewish. Sell them. Oh, man, boomer. You know, we were talking a little bit earlier about Vance Lambert, who Skyped in. It was our first test Skype performance, and it went all right. Yeah. It went pretty cool. But Vance put together a classic YouTube clip, which is him doing a parody of Lady Gaga's

Just Dance. And my wife actually was mentioning today that she just recently heard that song, Lady Perry. Otherwise, she hadn't heard it prior to that point. Bow, bow, bow, bow. Oh, the real one she heard. Yeah. Yeah, the real one. So anyway, we thought we'd play it for you, because I do enjoy it. Yeah, it's good. It's pretty cool. This is Vance Lambert with Just Vance. I could somehow figure out what this industry's about. They say I think I threw up in my mouth. Just a laces. Maybe backup singers. Two, three or more. Who's your band? Not a shameless plug to sell my CD. No show. Cocktail. Just Vance. I'm sorry. I love his voice. Yeah. He saw it. Yeah. I'm pretty sure I could beat him arm wrestling. No. I don't. Did you? No. Didn't you challenge somebody to arm wrestling? Who was in the studio that you tried to get to arm wrestling yet? I've challenged a lot of people. I'll arm wrestle you. In fact, who was in here? You know what? I was going to arm wrestle somebody's wife.

It was them fellas from Boone. Oh, Next Crossing. Yeah. I was going to. What's her name? Jebba? What was it? I don't remember what it is. It was Deba. I was going to arm wrestle Deba because she plays the piano for Next Crossing and I was going to try to get the job. You're not going to take my invitation, are you? You want to arm wrestle? Yeah. Seriously? Sure. Talk amongst yourselves. There's a man competition going on. Our eagles are kind of falling. There we go. This is going to last a while. Two, three. Mike, this is embarrassing. You're embarrassing yourself. And he wins. I was victorious. Did you see that? It's more dramatic if there's like a knife on the other side. I won. I can't believe it. Mike, listen. I need to break. Hey, Olsen didn't get to see it. Can you do it again? I'm the strongest man in the world. Hey, Olsen, who won the game? Which game? I think you kind of won.

Are you talking about the dodgeball game? Oh, man. I am still sore from that. Tell me about it. Okay, so here's the deal. We went out and some dudes from the church were playing dodgeball. We're excited for a dodgeball tournament. Olsen says, hey, man, you wanted this dodgeball? I said, heck yeah, I'm in. So we go up there and we didn't practice or anything. I did a few stretches, but I don't know how to… How do you practice dodgeball? I guess you can. We can get some balls and then dodge them. Dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge. So we showed up and we played the first game. And so it's a best… You play two matches, double elimination, right? Two matches and you're out. And it's a best of three in each match. Okay? So we played the first match and we got beat. We got hosed on a couple of riff calls, but otherwise we got beat something solid. So, I mean, I almost threw up after this first deal. This was a first… Is that intense? Well, it's a full court… Or either that or I'm just in terrible shape. But, like, it's a full court dodgeball, right? I mean, you're running around. You've got to speed up, grab them. You're jumping, dodging, throwing, sticking, weaving. How many around a team? Six. Unless you had a chick and then you could have six plus one. So you've got to have pretty good aim, then, to fire those at people. And they're little balls, too. So, like, if you throw them too hard, they take a flip.

They spin around. Because they're kind of like a Nerf ball thing, right? I mean, like a harder, harder Nerf ball. Yeah. I kind of thought I grasped that from a conversation earlier. Yeah. So, anyway, I mean, so I had to go out and I was getting drinks and, like, I could taste… You take a drink and you don't want to swallow because your mouth tastes funny. I was terribly winded. That's disgusting. I'm just saying. It's like your teeth are in revolt and putting out some kind of toxic… No! We don't work this hard and we're the teeth. We make holes in teeth. So, anyway, we got beat on the first one. It's the candy creeps. And then we had to play… We got to skip the next game, but we had to play the next one. Is Pants having more pizza? He's watching the eagle. He's watching the eagle. Oh, look up. I see the eagle. That's our competition. We got an eagle. Oh, Pants is in the viewing room watching the show, but watching the eagle on his computer. It looks like he's on communityestatebank.com right now. He's also doing his online banking. Hey. We're riveting as a closed financial institution. We're talking about dodgeball here. Come on, man. This is terrible. We need to get a camera for out there. Yeah, no kidding. Just so we can bust Pants doing stuff you're not supposed to. Pants, there's 52,000 people watching that.

Watching that vulture right now. And you're one of them. That's terrible. Anyway, so we played… So I was terribly with it. I about passed out. So we got to play another one, and I barely hobbled my way into there. And I also fall over dramatically. Like, I kept getting hit on my way somewhere. So I barely get skidded on the side of the face or something. And then, like, I fell back and skidded five feet. It was embarrassing. So, yeah, we got spanked. It's the best… So I said double elimination. We ended up playing three games because we were the pathway team. And there was some team, unfortunately, named Halfway. And you're in the gym, and a guy goes, Court two, so I'm halfway. And we're like, we got to play again. So we actually had the privilege of losing three games. Or three matches. Because we lost one on Halfway's behalf. So you guys didn't win a single match? No. We did not win a single game. Playing the Girl Scouts? Wait a minute. It's like a best of two games per match? So they won two times each time to win the match? Yes. You lost six games total? Yes. Yes. Please tell me you did not have Pathway shirts on. Everybody but me. Oh, so that's okay. Yeah.

The guy that flies back seven and a half feet from getting crazed. Now, Jared wasn't in good shape either. Yeah. Was he flying back seven and a half feet? He was limping on Sunday. Me and the worship pastor are both office jockeys. Dan, can you… I got to eat popcorn. It's popcorn. It's good. I told you I was thinking about popcorn. You have one on your collar in between one of your chins. Yeah. Oh, ouch, bro. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I think that deserves a… An apology and three… Three put-ups. One of your chins. Now to put down, you got to put up. Now you got to say three things that you like about Dan. Yeah. That's what my seventh grade science teacher used to tell me to do. If you make time to someone, you have to say three things you like about him. Go. I like your second chin and your third chin. Dude, you just… This is exponentially growing. He's extra special. I had to say one more nice thing, Dan. His shirt is making me epileptic. I thought Deuteronomy Dan was fantastic. Hey, makes up. All right, whatever. Yeah, so one of the… The second team that we played was called Little Red Riding Hood. So we got beat by Little Red Riding Hood. Was it majority ladies?

It was a kid beat by a Girl Scouts. There were. Now, one of the teams did have quite a few ladies. And we got beat. And like I said, Jared got… Jared got so winded, he couldn't even come over to where we were at after there was like a side of the floor we were at when we got out. We had like weight in the middle on one side. He got hit and just kind of drug himself and his dead limb over to the edge on the other side and stayed there until the next match. You should have imagined Jared's guy to come around and do it. I'm really glad I didn't sign up for this thing. But obviously not. It's… Now, here's the deal. It was really fun. I'm totally… Even though we got spanked, I'm totally going next year. Oh, I bet. It's exciting. Also, let's talk about planning one of our own. Oh, heck yeah. Our own dodgeball tournament? Yeah. We're going to broadcast it. We're going to break the cameras out, and we're going to do play-by-play on the dodgeball. Dude, I did that for Shelly's Poke. I was their announcer and everything like that for their dodgeball tournament my senior year. You're on for it. Cool. This sounds awesome. Obviously, the very first building we will build as a church will be a gymnasium. Oh, man. Ha! We need it. We can just have a court. They should do dodgeball outside.

Let's do the basketball court. No, because you think you've got to chase the balls. Every time you miss, you've got to go running after them. Well, we can put in barriers or something. Well, when we had a youth group with my dad like 8,500 years ago, we did it at the – I can't even remember what the place is called, but we did dodgeball at the – Oh, Crown Point. Yeah. Yeah. Inside the – The little gymnasium thing they had. What do you call them? The racquetball courts. Yeah. Those are small. Big dodgeball down there. It's real small. We got in a lot of trouble at that place. Yeah. I don't really want to talk about it. Imagine getting a fisticuffs at the racquetball. Okay, so I went. My little girl used to go – Gracie used to go to tumbling, you know, and they used to have the tumbling class in these racquetball courts at the Y. Does Pants have more pizza? I was just – yeah, it looks like he's eating something. Pants, we – He hasn't stopped eating. You think I look bad. Why did we leave the – Anyway. Anyway, so anyway, there's a – it was in a racquetball court. Next door is two dudes playing racquetball. One guy is 6'5", and one guy is like 5'4". So there's a huge difference. And the 6'5 guy got a temper on him. And he's got, like, more shoulders than any man is allowed to have, you know.

Like, they're sticking out way huge like a superhero. And he's wearing real tight shorts and stuff. And he keeps rubbing his bum to you up against the glass because that's how he gets ready. Like, he gets back there and does this. And he threw a temper tantrum that I couldn't even explain. Like, he was getting mad throwing things, you know, whatever. He took it. He had big goggles on. And I just – I thought after the watch tonight, I'll never play racquetball. Just in case a guy, you know, because they do it like a pickup basketball game, you know, like you stand in line and whoever happens to show up, it's their turn to play. And I thought, if that guy ever showed up at my – I just don't know anything to do. I don't like racquetball. That doesn't make it sound very fun at all. No, no, no. He's disgusto. I like racquetball. Do you? I've played maybe once. Because I'm a 6'5 guy with a temper that nobody wants to play with. What? No, I'm kidding. Hi, Sonia. Did you see her? Sonia! Anyway, you've been listening to Life from the Path on lifefromthepath.org. Ben? Deuteronomy. Back to you. Deuteronomy. So we have a – we've got a prayer room coming up. It's coming up – Sunday. It starts on Sunday. Yeah. Woo-hoo!

So our church does a 24-7 prayer room for two weeks straight, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Someone will be in here praying, and you take – you sign up for an hour slot, someone comes and relieves you, and then they pray for an hour and whatever. It's a really cool time of prayer, and we're coming to that starting on Sunday. And then towards the end of that prayer room, we're also firing up another prayer room. It's downtown to pray for an event that's down there. And I don't know. It's going to be cool. It's going to be cool. It's a pretty cool season of prayer stuff going on. And we will be broadcasting. So the prayer room will be happening during our normal broadcasting time, and we will be broadcasting. Yeah. Now, are we going to have bands playing? Are they going to play while other people are in the prayer room? Yeah, probably. Yeah. We'll have some playing. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. So we've got – some of the bands that have been in have agreed to come in and take an hour in the prayer room and then take an hour in here with us so that we can – So we're going to have two bands in tonight? One band in there, one band here, and then they're going to switch places? Yep. Exactly. That'd be awesome. Yeah. Yeah. So are we going to open this up for anybody to come and pray? Is it an open – or is it we're really kind of wanting that band to kind of hang out by themselves and do their thing? What do you mean? Well, it would stink. I wanted to come.

Yeah. I mean, like if Pants was to come and bring some pizza and pray, or are we just inviting that one in particular? Because you reserve a certain amount of time. Yeah, really, are you taking away some of the down-to-business prayer if you have an atmosphere? No, we already blocked them off. Our show's blocked them off. Well, but that's what I'm saying, but for the band. Like if the band was – I mean, is the band really getting the full extent of the prayer room if we're in here making a hoot and hollering and calling a bunch of noise and having a bunch of people out there? Well, they can sign up for more if they want. I just meant – I'm bringing this to the pathway. Well, hey, come on out too. You can pray. Oh, sure. If they want to, I guess. Okay. Because I guess what made me think of this was I was talking to someone on Sunday who has been down to the international – the IHOP in Kansas City where they continually have live bands and they're doing worship sets. And I thought, how cool would that be to have worship sets going on here? And we don't have that big of a worldwide audience thing, but we could say, hey, a couple nights during the prayer room from these two hours, we're just going to play worship. Wouldn't that be kind of cool to come and be a part of that? Worship in the middle of the night? I'd do it. I'd do it. Yeah, definitely. Of course, we haven't talked to those bands about that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't know if they do worship stuff. Yeah, who knows? It'd be kind of cool to set up some different bands to come out and play some – like the acoustic stage at the Midwest thing. Yeah. Just some light worship stuff.

We have djembe here. We have congas here. They could bring their own stuff. Or halfway to a symphony. We've got a djembe and congas. All they need is everything else. No problem. Show up. I think it'd be kind of cool, though. I mean, I never thought of it until talking to this person Sunday, and I thought, wow. Well, maybe we'll try it out. I probably need to get around to it with this pair of – maybe this pair of – we'll talk about it. Yeah. We'll find some folks. Yeah. Yeah. So – What? I'm in. You say that to everything. I know. I'm in on a lot of things. Hmm. Normally not negative things. Well, that's better. That's good. I thought I'd throw that disclaimer out there. Why are you looking at me like that? Anyway, like I was saying – Can they see Jesus on the table? Yeah, they can see the – Can you see the Jesus table we got? Yeah. From trash. Of course, we have the kind of – He's kind of broken up with the –

With the thing on the table. What do you call this? Doesn't that look like – Is this the hair? That's the beard. And here's – Like his nose is up here because it's – Isn't that his head? Oh, yeah. The table didn't have a leaf in it when we got it, and we had to put the leaf in for it to get it to the right size, and now it doesn't look as much like Jesus as it did. Yeah, take the leaf off and put it together, and it's a Jesus table. It's pretty awesome. It's obviously intended for life in the path. Yeah, okay. And the prayer room. Okay, we'll get this back on, Troy. All right, Troy. Move that eagle out of the way. No, no, that's fine. What are we talking about here? Oh, yeah. We were talking about something. Prayer. Prayer. Yeah, the prayer room. See, how this – Isn't it easy to be distracted when you're praying? Yeah. Yes. Try being in the prayer room with your brother. Well, not you. Me. With my brother. It's kind of ridiculous. Huh.

It really is kind of ridiculous. Three o'clock in the morning, right before school, the first time Trey and I ever signed up for ourselves. My dad would take us every once in a while, but we really want to do it on our own. It's three o'clock in the morning. Trey and I are driving our Ford Aspire, so we're cramped together like this. We're driving both really tired. We get here and sit down, no idea what to do. We're basically just sitting there like, so, should we pray together? We're holding hands, sitting at the table, and I'm just like, this isn't like saying grace at lunch, and he's just like, I don't know if we're supposed to be like holding hands right here. Did we say three nice things about each other? He was like, should we like go off into different rooms and kind of do our own thing? I was like, well, I don't know. Call dad. And he was like, no, I'm not calling dad. It's three o'clock in the morning. I was like, dude, seriously. Call dad, because I really don't know what we're supposed to do. I don't want to screw this up. We're both sitting there like drawing with the crayons, just like, is this praying? Are we worshiping? Are we doing it? Yeah. Yeah.

Is this the right thing to do? And he was just like, dude, I don't know. We get out of here, go to breakfast at the BK on East 14th. We drive home. My dad's just sitting up, just like my dad would. He was like, so how was it? And I immediately say to him, were we supposed to like hold hands at the table? And my dad just started cracking up laughing. He was like, you seriously were sitting there holding hands at the table? He was like, I love the fact that you're brothers and you're very, very close to each other and able to do that, but you didn't have to do that. And I'm just like, that is not necessary. Trey and I were sitting at a table, holding each other's hands for like 15 minutes to three o'clock in the morning, just like, and looking around the walls. Dude, I almost wanted to walk with him. With the walls holding hands, just like, and pray for them. Walk past. And that guy. And then them. I think one of the coolest things I ever did was, I got the weird idea. I came in,

I was probably a junior, senior in high school, and I came in, and I had, my phone book was full on my phone. I had like 350 people on my phone. And I went and I started listing off all the people on my phone. And I literally drew out the name of all the people on my phone. And it took me two times going back and forth doing an hour to do it. And my dad walked in with me one day and he was just like, I can tell that's your sloppy handwriting. Did you do that? I was like, yeah, man, I thought about how cool. man, I did. Yeah, yeah, I did. No one was here to hold my hand. And I totally did that. I was holding hands with Trey. And I wasn't drawing. I mean, I was actually praying. I was just like, man, this is so cool. I like ran my hand out of the list. And I was just like, God, just bless all these people. I was just like, this is, I don't know why I hadn't done this before. To your people.

I mean, yeah. It wasn't that in the back corner. Why are you, why are you connected? I was praying for your people. You put them on the wall. So they became our people. Yeah. They're not just your people. There are peeps now. Now they belong to Jesus. Hey, it's cool. I know a couple of them that have probably been impacted by that. So I'm happy. I bet you're right. Praise Jesus. Sorry, I didn't mean to go on a three and a half and a rant. Not holding hands is detestable to the Lord. Sometimes I have everyone hands with Jesus. Deuteronomy or Dan. Jesus, show my hand. Listen, Jesus, I'm right handed. You know that. Can we just sing a song together? Can we just sit here? Seriously, have any of you done like the silent? Thing. I tried it once. What do you mean? Like have no noise at all going on? There's been a couple of programs where we had like a silent room.

We just sit there and listen. Listen to me. yeah, yeah, yeah. It's creepy the first time. And then at the end of the program, I got to the point where I really like enjoyed it. Really? And I can't even tell you why. It was just very peaceful. It was just like, okay, God, I'm just here listening. I don't know if I'm too ADHD to do it. Cause I, I tried it once. I was just sitting there for, oh, I'd say it was three minutes. Yeah. I didn't really put all my heart and soul into it. I'm just like, that's, I think in our society, when things are going so fast and everything's happening so much, we don't take the time to just stop. I tried to. And it, well, it takes us, it took me a week. Yeah. To get to the point where I'd go in there for five minutes and then 10 minutes and then 15 minutes. You know what? And actually, my dad could do it.

I can't. Some of that has to do with your, with your maturity in your walk with Christ anyway. You know what I'm saying? Cause like, well, the first couple of times I'd come in this prayer room, I dragged every bit of baggage I ever had in here. And I thought I was going to slay through it, you know, in the hour that I was here. And then I was going to walk out a new guy, you know? And, and so I was, I was misrepresenting the prayer room to myself. I looked at it as more of a quick walkthrough counseling clinic than an actual sit down conversation with my creator. And that was a mistake because the thing is, is that you'll, it'll, it's not going to ruin your prayer room experience, but it makes it very, very difficult to, to get out what you're supposed to get out of it. And, and frankly, it makes that silent room just about possible because you'll be sitting there going, I have a ton of bad stuff that we need to be talking about. Just sitting here doing nothing is really not helping me. Oh, I agree. Let's get this figured out. Right. And so, and so, you know, you're like, get me,

you know, I just want to get to a place. I want to feel better. I want me to feel better, you know? And, and it's, there's nothing necessarily wrong with that. It's not a terrible thing. You know what I mean? You know, God loves you for a reason, you know? So he doesn't want you to be downtrodden and terrible all the time, but it's the relational aspect. And I think, I think I'd really like to give that silent room another go. Like, I think I, I think I threw it aside a long time ago and I shouldn't have. I know what you mean. I felt so selfish when I wasn't able to do it. I was thinking to myself, like, you know what? I spent all this time praying and me talking to God and me, me sitting there saying to God what I want to say. And I couldn't spend three minutes listening. Well, maybe that's the whole importance of coming back multiple times. Yeah. You know, is, and there's some people who will come like once or twice or three times. There's no way they even have a clue the impact of the room because it takes me about seven times before I start sinking in like, okay, now it starts hitting you.

Yeah. Before. Otherwise I'm, I'm praying and I'm doing stuff and it takes multiple times for me to, to kind of get to the point of being able to listen, being able to really worship, being able to go to a different level than, than just walking around praying for people. Right. So I think, I think it's, that's hugely important for people. I try to get there at least once a day. I think every so far, everyone we've had, I've been able to get in once a day, at least I did pretty good in the last one. I think I got in once every two days. It wasn't too bad. Uh huh. I was pulling some wicked hours, but I loved it. It was cool coming at three o'clock. There was one day I came in at three o'clock, stayed till four left for, I think it was an hour and a half. And I went and slept out my car and set an alarm. And I came back into five and then I left and I came back in at nine. I left and I came back in at 11 or 11 to one. And then at one o'clock I bolted to work cause I had to be at work at one 30. Yeah. And that was like one of the best days I've ever had in my entire life at work. I was just like, man, dude, sweet. This is awesome. I'm sitting here.

I'm like, man, that was, that was a great morning. I was able to think about all the stuff I was, I was thinking about in the prayer room and it really helped me. I probably should have been thinking of work probably about at work, stuff like that. Well, I was just like, man, that was, that was a great morning. It was cool just to take the, the hour and then, then have an hour or two off just to kind of think about it and go back and be like, all right, cool. We're back in. It was just really cool. I mean, every time that I've done the prayer room, it has been nothing but, I mean, complete awestruck for me. I was just awesome. Have you ever run into anybody that does not like the prayer? Like they said, it wasn't for them. There has to be some. Sure. There has to be some detractors. But usually they haven't come enough to get it. Yeah. You know, they tried it once or something, or I've had people who come and maybe their third time all of a sudden just hit them like, oh,

you know, um, and I've had, even myself, I've gone through times I've not had any like great experience necessarily, like some people have experiences in here and I've gone through multiple times where I have, I don't know if I've ever had like an experience, you know, like, like some, wow thing other than it's just a great, as a whole, a great experience, you know, it's because you're praying and you're in, you know, you're connecting with, in a pretty high level with God. Um, there was some people have just absolutely life changing moments. Yeah. weeping before the cross. Um, I mean, I've heard all kinds of stories of people just, just really having impactful times, which is really cool. Yeah. And actually, you know what? I think I had this conversation with you last time we had the prayer room because I started to feel, uh, like there was something wrong with me because I would, I would, I just never had them, you know, like I just never had it.

I don't burst into tears and I don't, you know, have a huge, whatever. I mean, I mean, I've wept in there. I've done that, you know, but I, it's not like I, I don't know, like I don't walk over the, you know, the, the, the prayers on the wall and go, Oh no. you know, and then I, I weep, you know, I just kind of look at them and go, okay. You know, I didn't know that, uh, you know, I'll pray for that, you know? And so I, I started to think, is this, is this all there is for me? You know, people are showing great transformations for Christ and be like, you know, crying,

weeping, you know, either with joy or pain and, you know, and I was, I was good at putting on a show saying that I was really strong in Christ, but I really wasn't. I mean, I was 15. There wasn't really much I could be strong in Christ with, but, uh, I walked in, I was like, Oh cool. There's a bunch of names on the papers and all this different stuff. And I was like, Oh, that's awesome. And I said, I felt selfish afterwards because I looked for my name and I looked for my dad's handwriting and I was just like, Oh, my dad wrote that. I was like, Oh, so he's praying for me. That's cool. That's cool. And I was like, why am I doing this? Why am I not praying for everyone else's name? So let's move on to somebody else and I can pray about somebody else. I just felt so selfish afterwards, but I was sitting there. I was like, Oh cool. I could tell my dad was writing.

No bless Troy. And I was like, Hey, thanks dad. Yeah. Thanks. Oh, you too. Thanks. Not horrible, but that's a maturity thing though, too. I mean, Oh yeah. And the, I mean, over the years that I've been able to do it, I've been, I've taken more and more stuff out of that room. I mean, it's, it's so refreshing to go in there when it's night and come out when it's light out. And it's just like, it truly feels like a brand new day. I mean, it in not in a non cheesy way of saying it really feels like, I mean, you walk out and it's like, you feel refreshed. You feel like you're ready to start the day and you see the light and it's just like, man, thanks God. I mean, really you look out and you see the sunrise and it's just like, thanks for another one. I mean,

like, thank you so much. We never stop and say that, but thank you so much for just another one of those that I get to see. And it really makes you stop and think about it. It really makes you stop and really, really break down the kind of stuff that you take for granted every day. Yeah. I agree. I was waiting for it. I concur with whatever was said. It was poetic and popcorn. Yeah. I thought it was great. Wow. You know, you're listening to live from, did I just hear a wild, wild Babylon? He didn't do it. He didn't mention it. I better not have. You're listening to live. Did you, Hey, are you turning up my headphones over there? No, I didn't. You skis. It's getting, it's getting really, really loud in here. I didn't do it. I think you did. You're listening to live from the path. on live from the path.org again during the week. If you haven't signed up for the podcast, please do so.

It's an audio podcast to go straight to your iPod. Oh yeah. I was doing it with my chair. I'm sorry. You're punching me out over here. Sorry about that. You can also sign up for a newsletter. It gives you a heads up about events such as the one tonight, free pizza and popcorn soda for our one year anniversary show. Good stuff. This pants is taking it all. Yeah, seriously, he's been the only guy out there eating that pizza. It's a one bank garbage disposal. Yeah, but I mean, I think pants is eating the pizza in half. If I've been keeping a good enough eye on him. After he does, he ate half a pizza, did his banking, ate half a pizza, watched the Eagle. Come to live from the path. It's constructive for your bank. Although, to pants's credit, he did just order a four, four foot by five foot donkey to put in the studio. And so, I can't really begrudge the man anything that he's up to. Yeah. It's going to be pretty sad. Did he order some more lights to put on it? No. We are going to have to point one on it, aren't we?

I'll do it. Pants, you lazy slug. Pants, you know how I feel about lighting up the donkey. He's trying to buy our love. Can't buy me love. Sorry. Well, he's fantastic. Hey, so, I think, there's another guy, Jeff Arendale has been in, has been in the studio a few times. He was in here with Certainty, and those guys did a really good job. You'll see Ben from Certainty pop into the chat every once in a while. Those guys are fun. And, and Jeff came back. He is going to Nashville, I think within the month, this month, for some recording stuff. Like, he's going to Nashville and put some of his tunes down. And so, I thought maybe we'd share one of his tunes that he did. This is, this is called Race. And I, and it's, it's based upon, you know, Paul writing about running the race to win, you know,

and finishing the race for Christ. So, anyway, this is, this is Jeff Arendale when he was on Live from the Path singing Race. By a great cloud of witnesses, we will throw off everything, and so we entangle. Let us run with perseverance. Race marked out we follow, with our eyes fixed on him. And the cloud of witnesses, watches and cheers us on. We will fight the good fight, we will be and we will run with perseverance. We will run the race laid out before us. We will run with the rise upon Jesus, seeking Jesus' face. We will finish the race of first, despite the joy set before him. He endured the cross for us, scorning all his shame. We sat down at the right hand of the Father. Can we really fathom that he took all of our blame? And the cloud of witnesses, watches and cheers us on. We will fight the good fight, we will race laid out before us, we will run to seeking, finish the race. We will finish it strong, running with our knees up. It's marked out before us, we will finish it. And that was Jeff Arendale, and he was singing Race. And again, actually, we'll be seeing him and the guys from Certainty.

I can't remember if they're either coming here next week or the week after. They're going to be participating in our prayer room and join us in the studio for an hour. So it'll be exciting to see them fellas again. See how everybody's doing. It will. What I like about him, and many of the guys that we've had in here is you can tell they're truly believing what they're singing. They're not just trying to throw some clever words together and make a tune or something. They really believe this and really live it, to the best of our knowledge, I mean, we don't follow around with cameras yet. But I'm working on that. Sunday. And the technology. As soon as we get the… You know, one of the things that I've been thinking about as we're heading into the prayer room is that for some reason, this just hit me. It's two Sunday when I was listening to the message. I was thinking about something else. Popcorn, popcorn. But I thought… Because the message was… You know, it was kind of half on prayer. You know, what do we got going? And you know, how you're praying

and why you're praying. And I've developed a thing. My three-year-old daughter has been… She stopped asking for things. Like, you know, she's gotten a little bit older and she somehow reverted back to her toddler stage where she just says a word. Like, she goes, chocolate milk. And then goes, uh. You know, I'm like… I'm like, will you stop that? You know? And she's been doing it a lot lately. You know? And I'm like, I don't understand what's happening. What's happened here? You know? And so, finally, you know, she did it last week and I've been telling her, like, she'd go, blanket. And I'm like, listen, I said, Grace, Daddy really loves to help you. But he really loves to help you

when you ask. When you ask like a kind girl asks. And when you ask how you're supposed to, there's nothing mommy and daddy like to do more than help you, help you do things. And for some reason, I was sitting there listening to the message this Sunday and I thought, that is exactly what prayer is. Daddy likes to help you. But you have to ask him and you have to ask him in the right way. All he wants you to do is ask. Daddy, that's his favorite thing to do is to help you if you just ask him. Yeah. And I thought, I'm not looking at my father like that. I'm not looking at my father the way that I'd like my child to look at me. You know, I mean, all whatever, you know, discipline and, you know, parenting styles aside, like, I want my kids to know that I, you know,

I want to help you. That's what I want to do. You know, and in this particular stage of your life, I want you to ask like an appropriate girl, ask, you know, not throw this hissy fit, you know? And I thought, you know, the way I pray could be pretty much equated to her hissy fit some of the time, you know, like, oh God, give me this, give me that, you know, thank you for this. I'm not really, really talking to you. I'm just saying what I think I should say because it's time for bed. Yeah. You know, and I've really attempted to get away from that and I try to put myself in some kind of mindset when I pray like that to really realize who I'm talking to and I can't do it.

I still can't do it. I think you know, Seth, you know, and I usually preface my prayer with that. It's like, I know I'm not coming at this right, but just realize I'm doing this earnestly because that's all I can do. You know, all I can do is look at it as an honest conversation, you know? Right. And I thought, I thought, that is honestly how I want to pray. I just want to say, you know, here's what I'm thankful for here's what I need, you know, and if that's not what I need, help me change it. And all I can think of is if God looks at me, you know, even closer to the same way that I look at my daughter, we are serving an awesome God. You know, because I really think that's how he looks at it. I really want to help.

I really want to, I want to help you, but I need you to ask me and we'll get some things done. You know, as long as it's best for you, you know, I think we can help. And so, I don't know, it's just a different attitude towards prayer than I thought. Am I really asking God for anything, you know, or am I just kind of keeping him as a sideshow? You know, like I say, yeah, you know, God's got this taken care of. I'm not worried about it, you know, but I haven't even asked him about it. I haven't even talked to him about it. It's not a conversation I've had. You know, if I say, look, we're installing a, we're building a deck next week. My old man's going to bring all the lumber and stuff here. Help me. He's good at carpentry work or whatever. And then I didn't even ask my old man.

I didn't even tell him I was building the deck. You know, I didn't even talk to him about it. I just figured he'd show up with the stuff because my old man's solid. Because he just knows. Yeah. So, you know, while it's given that God knows what's going on with me and what I have coming and what's coming up for me and what I can do for him, the conversation still needs to happen. You know, like it's not a relationship without the conversation. And so, it just seems to me that, you know, you can approach or I can approach my prayer life in just a little bit more honest setup. Like, I really am talking to my father and not to, you know, nothing or just an omniscient being that I have good respect for but really no relationship with, you know. And so, I don't know,

it just hit me as I'd really like, I'd like my prayer life to more shift towards how I want my daughter to ask for juice. And so, I thought, well, that's perfect then. I'll just stick with that. Yeah. That's awesome. Yeah. Like, that's a really cool correlation. I never even thought of it like that. And as a father, you really enjoy that conversation. You really enjoy listening to your daughter, you know, help you or ask for help because, I mean, you know, okay, I can get her juice anyway. Right. And you're going to get her something. But just something about that dependence and just saying, Daddy, you know, I need some juice.

Can I have some pig milk? Yeah. Okay. Yeah. I'm happy to get that for you. Got it. Definitely. Man, that's kind of cool. Coming right up. Yeah. So, so anyway, I was really, for some reason, I was just really excited about it. And actually, I had a, I don't know, like I talked to, I talked to my daughter differently after I even thought of it. I thought, yeah, yeah, that's, yeah, this, yes, this is what I want. And if that's what God wants out of me, you know, I can do that. I can do that. I can do better about that. And there's no reason for you to just throw it. Because I think there's a, there's a small danger,

you know, when you start, when you start a relationship with Christ, you know, there's a small danger into saying, you know, look, he's the cornerstone of my life. He's got this covered. I believe in everything he says. The Bible's dead on true. Jesus died for my sins. Well, you know, he's my savior. Great. We're done. You know, I know where my failings are in the Bible. So as long as I say, look, you know, I need forgiveness. I sins. I, you know, you died for me. Okay. I appreciate that. And, you know, I'll ask for forgiveness again. And then, you know, I'll try to do better, you know? And like on black and white, it all seems like a,

like a, like you're doing it, you know, a checklist kind of, you know, like here's what God don't want. Here's the things I need to cut out of my life. Lord, help me cut those things out of my life. And then that's it. I think I don't need to address him personally. He knows, you know, I don't need to talk to him about my relationship with my wife or my kids or my job or, you know, what he wants me to do professionally, what he wants me to, you know, what he wants me to do for his, his body of work. You know, there's no need to really go into all of it. I'll just say, you know, kind of point me in the right direction, Lord. I'll wait two seconds while you respond. Okay. Good night. Thank you. Amen. Done. You know? And so I thought that that's not a prayer life. That that's me talking to God's answering machine. Like he's not there and I'm just kind of giving a quick synopsis of what I got going. That's time all his time and he can get on to other people, you know?

And that's not the, that's the relationship I've set up, not the relationship that he set up. And so it seems to me that, you know, if I, if I, if I'd like to continue to grow in my relationship with Christ, then it's best to meet him on his terms. He set things up for a reason. He set up how you pray for a reason. He set up, you know, our marriage system for a reason. He set up, you know, even the Deuteronomy stuff, you know, like they sound off the wall, but whatever. He set them up for a reason. There's a purpose. Because he knows people, you know, and people like, you know, they look at the Bible sometimes and go, oh, it's outdated. You know, that's, that stuff, you know, back in the day, of course that made perfect sense, but now it's a little outdated. And then, you know,

you look at it and you go, well, look how it's working now. You know, like, you know, you look at, you look at what the Lord says about, about a lot of things about marriage in particular. You know, he set those things up for a reason. And they said, people will go, well, it's outdated. And you go, well, look how it's working. We're 50% divorce rate. We're kids out of wedlock left and right. You know, we're broken homes. That's all you can find, you know, and, and, and the Bible's outdated. The Bible's incorrect. You know, the Lord's word is what's not working. That's that, you know, and so, you know, sometimes, you know, when I look at something, I go,

you know, that probably applied to Middle Eastern desert times, you know, but seriously, does that apply to me? And the answer is always a prophetic yes. Yes, it does. It does apply to me, you know, because when we, we, we don't follow the way he set things up, it causes all kinds of pain in our lives and hardship and heartache. And, you know, I mean, man, so often people kind of mean, and their lives are just in ruin and they're distraught. And the whole time I'm thinking, well, I have the answer. And, and you explain to them, you know, Hey, Jesus has a pattern for this. And it's like, Oh, I don't need that. It's like, but that's exactly what you're missing. don't give me that same old song and dance, you know, I shouldn't be doing this or whatever, you know, I mean,

yeah, the fact of the matter is if you hadn't done this, this, this, and this, that, that went outside his, his loving boundaries, uh, you wouldn't have any of the pain that's in your life right now. Right. You know, I mean, that sounds a little cold, cold and harsh at times too. It's like, well, what are you saying? It's like, well, well, that is one of, I mean, that is what you're saying. Oh yeah. And there's three of them like, really? You know, like, is that lying thing really that big of a deal? You know, if I tell a little white one here and there just to keep me from getting fired or something, you know, certainly the Lord doesn't want me to get fired. Well, the Lord wants you to, you know, do whatever,

get rid of whatever you've been doing to get fired. Why don't you go to work and act like a man, you know? And, you know, what, what's the honor of thy father and mother? I'm like, but they're crazy. They don't listen to me. They have stupid rules. Go to bed at 10. Why? You know, uh, you should have done it. I should have done it. You know, the thing is, cause it just, it just, it develops a pattern. It's there for a reason. And frankly, I shouldn't even care. I shouldn't even care what the reason is. As long as God says, here's the way to go. I should be enough for me to go. All right, fine. I hear you. Who are we to ask God? Why? Right. You know, well, why did you put that in?

Right. Why you asked me to do that? Just, just, just my favorite. Are you sure? Like, really? And going back to the parent thing, how many times do we put up boundaries and the kids don't get it? And we know exactly why. Well, you know, why don't I want you to run toward the road? Because there's a bus coming, you know, and it's going to run you over. But they don't see the bus. And, you know, they're like, why? You know, how come? I want to go get my ball. You never let me play in the road. Yeah, come on. The road looks like so much fun. Road. Mmm. And we're just that same way. Yeah. I don't know. I just, I think I really like the, I like the thought of that.

I like that. I like the reference of it. You know, every once in a while, I feel like the Lord will throw out little tidbits for me. You know, stuff that will keep me going. You know, to get me a little bit more motivated than maybe I was. Little insights? Yeah, a little thing like, yeah, yeah, I do like that. So anyway, I think that is a really cool way to look at prayer. Well, kind of along that line with the father-child relationship and prayer is, you know, how often do we, in gratitude, you know, we kind of go through this list. Okay, God, thank you for the day and thank you for the food. And here's what I want. Right. And I mean, I'm guilty of this myself. It's like,

okay, I got my little thank yous done and I'm going to go on. And it kind of hit me tonight as I'm sitting in the room and Shanna's getting ready. Cheryl's going to take her off to bass clarinet lessons and she's trying to find a checkbook to write her monthly, very large check for her, you know, bass clarinet lessons. And just all these things around band, you know, with our daughter. And Shanna, you know, she's 14 years old. She says, guys, thank you for all the stuff you do for me for my bass clarinet and teaching, you know, learning this. And I'm just like, I mean, I'm sure when I was 14, you know, I pretty much thought I deserved it, whatever I was getting. Right. They have to do this for me. They're my parents.

Because I want it. Because, look at me, who wouldn't want to do it? If they owe me. If they didn't want to give me a bass clarinet, they shouldn't have had kids. But suddenly it kind of, you know, went from, man, this is a big pain. We've got to go over the West Des Moines and we've got to do this. We've got to write a check. You know, I'd have a lot more money if I wasn't doing this. It was like, man, write two checks. Yeah, you know what? This is kind of cool. Yeah. And what did it take? Really? Just a meaningful, a simple, yeah. thank you. Yeah. You know? And you know what? And in fact, you know,

we're created in God's image, you know? So, if that feeling responds, you respond to that feeling from your own kids or from whoever, you know, you've got to figure God responds the same. Like, they meant that one. How often do I just not even think? Right. Although, in the last few months, I'm much more intentional about, I mean, every night I go to bed, I'm like, God, thanks for another day. You know, another day here. I mean, I thought I'm not too worried about going there, but you know, hey, thanks. Life's still going on. Right. I love that feeling. I definitely know that feeling. Yeah, yeah. You just,

God's awesome. And just to be intentional about thanking him for things is, it's big, but we so easily, we forget. We just take it for granted. Well, right now, absolutely. Or you go through the list, you know, thank you. Thank you for the day. Thank you for the food. Thank you. Chinese food's awesome. Great idea. Thank you for leaving the F&O's open. Thank you for creating the word buffet. Yes, yes, yes. Great idea. Yeah, I don't know. I think there's, there's just, there's a, it's what gets you excited in your walk with Christ, you know? It's what you get excited about your religion because there's so much,

there's so much more than you think there is. Every year, every day, you know, maybe not every day, I don't really run across every day, but I'd say, I'd say every couple months or so, I run into something where I'm like, I thought my relationship with Christ was getting there. I kind of had a plan, you know, I'm going to get my Bible read and I'm going to start working on this and you know, I go to my LTG, I go to my Bible study, I attend church, I try to volunteer to do stuff every once in a while. I'm trying to treat my wife better, I'm trying to keep better out of my kids. I'm doing all these things. I'm like, this is what the Lord wanted from me, you know, and then a month later, it's not like he, you know, he compounds another load of stuff on me,

he's just like, I just want you to move your camera over a little bit, I want you to just look at this a little differently, I want you to look at this how I'm looking at it and it just seems like the more you earnestly try to meet God at his standards and his prayer and his relationship, the wider the camera gets, you know, and the more he's like, look, you know, the more you listen and the more you think like I think, you'll see things the way I see them, you know, and you don't get so much colored by, you know, the pride lens or, you know, the selfish lens or the self-serving lens, you know, like all that stuff, it's like the Claritin commercial where everything's kind of fuzzy and it just kind of goes away and that's one thing

I've been really praying for lately is like, I don't, I just want to see things how you see them so I can make a good decision. I want to make a decision how you would make a decision and so, you know, I've been really praying for just like, like eyes to see what he sees. Like, I don't want to see what the situation appears to be to me. I want to see what it is. What is going on here, you know, like, like, you know, you see a, you see two dudes fighting or whatever. You see, you know, a situation going on and usually I look and go, what a pair of idiots and then you roll away. You know, where God would look at that situation and go, that guy needs help

and this guy's been strung out since he was 10. You know, both of them need me. You know, and I just, I never look at situations like that. I walk away from it. I thought, I just, I really want to see the things the way that you see them and just keep my mouth shut for a while. Let's try that because what I've done so far isn't really working great. Yeah. You know, so anyway, that's why I'm kind of geeked up about the season of prayer coming up and especially the prayer room and I just, you know, there's multiple verses in the Bible where it points to the prayer of a righteous man is a powerful weapon and kind of getting your house in order and getting your priorities straight with Christ so your prayers don't become hindered,

you know, so that they can be answerable because the Lord's not going to, you know, answer prayers that are not to his glory. So, you know, those are two things that I'm really excited to see because he's done a lot of changing to me over the last year and I feel like, you know, my prayer is going to carry a little more attention than it used to because I'm asking for things that are to his glory. And so I'm really excited to see how the prayer rooms go. Benton. Yeah. I agree. I agree completely. Thank you. We could have got a stand-up monkey to do more than you're doing tonight. And no wonder Pants is watching the Eagles. I'm disoriented. Seriously. I ate a bunch of pizza. I drank, I mistook this regular Coke,

this caffeine-free Coke classic for a regular Coke. It's eaten away at my liver. You've only had it for the last five minutes. I know. It's crazy how fast it can attack you. I can feel it. It's deteriorating. It's full of gluten and milk hormones, non-organic, hydrogenated soybean oil. Dang it. You're listening to a lot. That is rough. You're listening to Live from the Path. This has been the one-year Live from the Path anniversary celebration. A woo-hoo. Thanks for being on. We really do appreciate it. I don't know. We're going to keep rolling. We have an exciting year coming up. Yeah. There's big stuff coming up. There should be some really, really cool things happening. Lord willing.

Things are in the works. We're going to pray on it. It's going to be on the topic of pray at the prayer room. We'll see what the Lord's got going on. How many live broadcasts have ever come from the prayer room? Ever? I don't know. Probably none. I don't know. None. Until now. We'll have to get on the 24-7 website on the little wheeling wall and link our thing on there. I didn't even look at you. Join us live. Yeah, we're praying live. We're praying live. Although we'll be broadcasting live. How can we do that and be a little more interactive and not just be talking with the band but be doing prayer stuff too? Well, I mean, they could get in on the chat over here.

Yeah? Who? People in other prayer rooms. Okay. I mean, there's always multiple prayer rooms going over the globe. Actually, we can do up to a 10-way video chat. Really? We could have people video chatting in? Yeah. Yeah. There's some software out there for that that we can do. I signed up for it. It's kind of spammy. But, yeah, we could do a video chat with other people. I mean, they shouldn't be saying anything, right? They'll be praying. We're going to show a video of a guy with his head down? Well, no. Like, we're going to have people praying while we're in here talking but what about

this going on in other prayer rooms and other parts of the globe? I mean, they're happening all over the place at any given time. You know, wouldn't that be pretty wild? Hello, Kunger and Deheasy. Oh, there. Who's Kunger? I can't see. It's in a, the color of the font is to the extent that I can't see it. K-Hunger? I think it's Kunger. Is that a last name? Kunger? It sounds like a, now don't take this the wrong way whoever you are, but it sounds like what they would name one of those like prize gorillas at the zoo. Sure. Like a San Diego zoo. Kunger. Sure, Kunger. Yeah.

Yeah, absolutely. The ones that know sign language and can do the blocks and whatever. I knew a guy named Conger when I was in college. That's not him. I knew an animal that's a Conger evil. See, I don't know what to do here. That just killed the conversation. He's a conversation killer. That's usually my job. You've taken my job. Oh, I don't mind it at all. Dan usually dominates it, but this time Troy's taking it over. I'm usually that awkward person that says, what did I even mean? Dan, don't you know that? Mean. I have a mean pair of shoes. But Kunger is your daughter's roommate. Father of the year over here. Conger? Conger. Kay Unger. Kay Unger. What's your daughter's roommate's first name?

She currently doesn't have a roommate. Well, she seems to be mistaken about that. At least not that we know of. Sneaky. She has got some news for you. You're going to get a call right after this. I love you, Conger. I love you. My Christmas card will totally be improved this year. I hunger for Conger. Ah, Dan, will you quit it? That's really creepy. Oh, no. You have been listening to Live from the Path. But not anymore. Thank you so much for watching. In all seriousness, thank you for those of you that watch the show. A special shout goes out to Joel Kahn who, frankly, we wouldn't have much of a show

without him keeping the chat rolling. Between him and Bean and Conger and sometimes the supported wife, Stacy. I mean, you guys are on it. You're after it. It makes the show a ton of fun for us to do. So we really appreciate you guys being out there keeping it up. We will hope to see you next week. We'll be broadcasting live from the prayer room. And by special request, you can enjoy the following video on the way out. Have a wonderful week and thanks for watching. I am walking in the dirt. Hey, Peter. Peter. I am walking in the dirt and the rocks and the… Huh? There's Jesus. Huh?

Jesus isn't a rock. Hey, Andrew. Man. Andrew is my friend. Andrew. This way. Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, oh boy. Hey, Jesus. Hello, my son. Have a seat. Hey, Jesus. I was just sitting here with my stick enjoying the sunshine. Jesus, I thought we were playing hide and seek and you weren't hiding. No, Peter. I wasn't playing hide and seek. I only told you that so you would leave me alone. You see, I'm Jesus. I'm an important guy. I have important things,

heavenly things to think about. You're always bothering me with your problems and this guy's talking about what he wants for Christmas and… But Jesus, I thought you are our friend. I am your friend. I just don't have time for you. Oh man. Hello. Welcome to the first Christian church meeting. Here are the rules. rules. Rule number one. Spend all of your free time in church. Rule number two. You're not allowed to have any fun unless you're laughing at how dumb the devil is. Rule number three. Wear t-shirts with my face on it. Rule number four. Always smile and act happy.

And finally, wear a stylish beard like mine. I knew it! Jesus! Look! Tricey said, you said I could be a Christian if I gave up all my fun and grew this beard. Look at my beard! Well, I heard that you missed the prayer meeting for a silly game. But I had tickets to football, Jesus! Incredible! Lose your light, stroke down, kick the field goal, and the ref's hand is good! Be quiet. Oh, football! No. Yeah, I can't believe my dad showed up. How embarrassing. Oh, crap! My fake beard fell off! They're totally gonna kick me out! Er, wait. What's he saying?

We're all going to play football or something? Yeah, football! Yeah! Alright, stop. Stop crying. Rise. You can be a Christian if you promise to burn all of your footballs and never miss church again. Promise? Oh, boy! Think he can fly? Here he comes! Well, alright. Now it's time for me to tell you all what you've done wrong since I last saw you. And don't try and hide because I'm Jesus. I will find you. Let's start with you, Peter. You lied to your mother the other day. Andrew, you said a naughty word when you hit your finger with the hammer. James, you laughed at him when he hit his finger. Moving right along, John, you drank too much wine the other night.

Not way too much, just enough to make me angry. Matthew, we fell asleep in church, didn't we? Yes, we did. And Thomas, you were slow dancing a little too close with that girlfriend of yours. Let's see, and you… I forgot your name so you're off the hook for now. Um… Philip, I saw you smoking a cigarette behind that big rock the other day. Thaddeus, I hate to say I saw you stick up your middle finger as someone who cut you off when you were riding your camel. Benjamin, you aren't wearing your WWJD bracelet. Jacob, I don't mind you saying my name but not after you stub your toe. Frank, you know what you did. I just can't repeat it

because I'm Jesus. All right, all you sinners, come with me. It's time to pay the piper. It was only one cigarette. I heard that. Look at all these sinners. Listen up. Listen to me. I'm Jesus. Listen to what I have to say. I have done many wonderful things. I have healed many people of diseases. I have performed many miracles so that I can tell you this. You're all evil. There is no hope. That's it. Thank you. Hey, everybody. Look at me. I have the holiest donkey in the world. I have never had so much fun in my entire life. All right. Stop. Stop. Get me off this thing. I walked on water. I think I can walk to the door.

Hey, Jesus. Will my donkey get into heaven now? Just one moment of peace, please. In the name of me is going on in here. Yeah, he said that to me. Can you believe it? And so I says to Keith, I says, listen, I'm a Pharisee. I got mad ladies lining up around the block. What? Let me see. There's that. There's that. Oh, man. We're going to get it. You're not supposed to be having fun. You're supposed to be praying and reading your Bible. And you guys, how do you expect to get into heaven by playing board games? Whoa, whoa, whoa. That's cool. Hey, guys. And these three think they can get into heaven just because they dress like the wise men. They said he was

pretty mad. Well, I'd be mad, too, if I had to trot around the desert in those sandals. Have you seen them? They're so B.C. You know, Rome's not only the most powerful nation in the world, but we're also the most stylish. I mean, do you know how cool you look? Why, thank you. No problem. Check it out. Repeat after me. The before thou except after thine. You know, I think your feather plume is poofier than mine. Well, they look the same to me. What do you want me to do about it? Hope you don't think you're going to the dance on Friday. Ahem. There are those Pharisee thugs staring up trouble. Let's go check it out. Yes, my associate and I were wondering. That is to say, we were hoping

you could get us into heaven. We know a lot of Bible verses. As you can see, we're very nicely dressed. Nicely dressed for a camel dealer, maybe. I think he got that outfit from the temple lost and found. Well, I think he made that robe from his mother's curtains. How much money do you have? Oh, there you go. One coin. Are you serious? Well, I can get you more. No, I'm sorry. You'll never get into heaven now. You had your chance and you blew it. Well, I guess I'll be going then. That sucker doesn't even realize as I kept his kind. 3 00 00 00 00 00
