Segments

  • Studio lights and opening banter 0:06–1:24
The hosts open from the Pathway Studios with listener banter about the audience smelling like Doritos, and a host shows off the studio decorated with Christmas lights and red-duct-taped rope light that he bets $20 will fall down mid-show.
  • What is Yule? 1:25–2:27
After caroling Sunday at a hospice and ChildServe, the hosts' daughters ask what Yule is and a host realizes he doesn't know either; production assistant Jacob pulls up Wikipedia: Yule is a religious festival observed by the historical Germanic peoples.
  • Sponsors and the great mug hunt 2:27–4:25
Ad reads for Valley Services (residential/commercial cleaning; call Charlotte at 515-277-5611) and On Purpose Promotions (cups, mugs, hats at OnPurposePromos.com), with a riff about a host drowning in 120 pages of mugs and giving up after three.
  • Tonight's lineup and respecting honest doubt 4:26–9:06
The hosts preview the show: godisimaginary.com proof 27, Rachel Held Evans' book, and Dear Abbies. They reflect on respectful conversations with people who doubt God or were hurt by the church, citing Job, who never cursed God, and God's answer out of the whirlwind: 'stand as a man and I will ask you and you will answer.'
  • Proof 27: 'Think about life after death' read-through 9:06–12:18
A host reads godisimaginary.com proof 27 in full: bacteria, mosquitoes, mice, chimps, dogs, and humans are all just chemical reactions, so nothing has a soul; the soul is as imaginary as Santa Claus, and Allah and the Quran get the same verdict.
  • Rebutting proof 27: the soul isn't chemistry 12:19–20:10
The hosts answer the proof: Christians don't dispute that bodies are chemical reactions; the proof's leap is a false dichotomy, since the soul was never claimed to be a chemical form. They note Genesis says man alone received God's breath, that 'soul' literally translates to breath, and that the proof offers zero disproof. A side debate: whether all creation, animals included, will be in heaven.
  • The goldfish wants into heaven 20:10–22:22
Comedy bit: a host voices a faux goldfish (identified in-audio as Ben's bit) begging Mike to take him to heaven because his fins can't bow; riffing on 'every knee shall bow, every tongue confess' becomes 'every fin will flop.'
  • Proof 27 verdict and the Buddhism rabbit hole 22:22–26:39
Verdict: proof 27 proves nothing and its animal argument is irrelevant. Teasing proof 28 ('notice how many gods you reject') with its list of religions by followers leads to a long Buddhism digression: Siddhartha Gautama, religion vs philosophy, and a Wikipedia joke that the current Buddha is Paula Abdul. The hosts bail, pleading 90% ignorance.
  • Station break: KTIA, lottery, and sponsors again 26:39–29:51
Station IDs for the Monday internet stream and the Saturday 99.3 KTIA broadcast; the hosts blame their streaming troubles on the free YouTube setup, riff on why none of them should win the lottery (absolute power; Boova would buy a Chewbacca suit), and re-read the Valley Services and On Purpose Promotions ads for the radio audience.
  • 'A Year of Biblical Womanhood' and what binds us 29:52–34:42
A CNN Belief blog post leads a host to Rachel Held Evans' book; he reads the synopsis aloud (a virtue a month; growing hair, making clothes, head coverings, camping in the front yard during her period). The hosts react: much of it is Old Testament law, Gentiles weren't under the law, and Christ fulfilled it — so which rules, if any, carry over?
  • Why did the law go away? 34:43–38:37
Extended debate: one host asks where scripture says behavioral laws pass away; another answers fulfillment in Christ (Romans 6-7) — the law prepared a holy, set-apart nation for the Savior. The slippery-slope worry: the same 'cultural change' argument is used on homosexuality; the counter: scripture itself (Jesus, Paul) marks what is maintained versus what is fulfilled.
  • How to read scripture without twisting it 38:37–52:29
Hermeneutics discussion: 1 Peter's jewelry passage warned against looking like a prostitute in that culture; reading it 'strictly' isn't automatically the conservative or correct reading. The hosts warn against twisting scripture to permit a lifestyle and against scholars who pervert the word, one confessing how hard it is to vet teachers. His landing point: major on loving God and loving people; if you must string five verses from three authors to make a point, you're probably off.
  • Live from the Path Christmas Extravaganza 52:52–54:32
Announcement of the Live from the Path Christmas Extravaganza, recording December 19 at Crown Point Community Center in Johnston (doors 7:30pm) with a live studio audience; Jeff Arundel leads the house band alongside local artists Daniel Brown of State on Sunday, Chris Roloff, Kevin Lindgren, and Sean Covington. It airs Saturday 10pm on KTIA and on Christmas Eve at the normal time.
  • Dear Live from the Path: the rude neighbor's guest list 54:32–57:49
A Dear LFTP letter: a couple hosts a 10-year holiday party for neighbors; neighbor Jim keeps inviting uninvited guests, demanded the date by email, then emailed dozens of people himself. The hosts' comedic advice: tell Jim bluntly it's not his party, make him disinvite them (he won't), open the house anyway, and don't show up at the host's house uninvited.

Live from the Pathway Studios in Johnston Proper, you are Live from the Path. Listen to Live from the Path. I appreciate you hanging out with us so far tonight. You've only been here a few seconds, and I already love you. And you smell like Doritos. Who does? In a good way. Those are people. I don't know about that. Okay, Mike might be on to something. You may actually smell like Doritos. I think that's your microphone screen. Bummer. That means I smell like Doritos. I had a snack earlier. There's a good chance of Doritos smell. All right. Hey, man, it is festive in the Pathway Studios. So here's what I've done.

I draped a bunch of Christmas lights all over the microphone holders. It looked like a frat house in here. It's going to be genius. It sure did. And it wasn't enough light. So me and Jacob taped up some rope light with some red duct tape all around the place. And I got a solid $20, and it's going to fall down halfway through the show. I can't imagine that it's going to hold. Here's hoping. Yeah. Hold on here. Check it out. There's what it looks like in here. Oh, yeah. You know that's festive. It is kind of festive. Make it Yuletide. Hey, so my kids, we were out caroling on Sunday, singing at the hospice in the child serve, the kid's place.

And we kept singing Yule. Yeah. And my daughters do not know what Yule was. And I was in the odd position to think to myself, I'm not sure what Yule is either. What is Yule, Mike? I don't know. I was hoping you were going to answer after you brought it up. No, I didn't bother looking. The kids fell asleep, and then I didn't have to look it up. Damn. That's the kind of stuff I always hear every year, and I forget every year, because it's just one of those old words that I just don't pay attention. You know, it doesn't really add value to my life, so I don't remember it. Yeah. You know, I only remember the things that really add value to my life, and… Hold on. Production assistant Jacob's got it on the Wikipedia. Okay. He's got, Yule is a religious festival observed by the historical Germanic peoples, and some

neighboring peoples. I like these leech peoples who have grabbed onto it. Who are peering over the wall going… Three doors down. I didn't get it. I think they're onto something. Hey, man, that stuff seems cool. I want a Yule like they do. I want a Yule like the Germanic tribes. Well, there you go. There's a salt for the day. Thanks for listening to Live from the Path. Live from the Path is brought to you by Valley Services. Go visit valleyservices.net or call Charlotte at 515-277-5611 for all your residential and commercial cleaning needs. You're still in the holiday times. Have someone come in and help you out while you otherwise prepare yourself. No one wants to come over to your dirty place, man. Get someone in there.

Hire someone in there. Come take care of it for you. No doubt. It's the way to do it. You can't cover everything up with newspaper. You're going to run out of newspaper. Actually, that's becoming worse. Like, the people that are a hobo in nature, in their place, like, newspapers are going the way of the dinosaur, man. Yeah, you know, that's true. You might as well get into the new age and hire someone to clean up your place. You can't clean your windows with an iPad, you know what I'm saying? The newspaper is going to be it. That'll be a sad deal when it's no longer available. I agree. Life in the Path is also brought to you by On Purpose Promotions. Visit OnPurposePromos.com and you can get cups, mugs, hats. Can you get tattoos, temporary tattoos? I don't know.

I haven't checked on it. I bet you can. You can do about anything. We were looking for, because we're going to get some mugs in here, and seriously, there's like 120 pages of mugs. I mean, they got everything in there. That's too many, really. I can't make. Like, Ben sent me over to this thing. He goes, hey, look at these mugs. What are we going to get for mugs? I said, okay, I'll take a look at it. And like three pages in, I'm like, I don't know. I don't care anymore. Like, every three page, I'm done. They always have, when you get past all the glitter and all the excitement, there's always like the ceramic, really cheap mug. And I know that because our original mugs at Pathway were the cheap ceramic mugs. Yeah.

And everybody thought they were so cool, and I'm like, they were the cheapest one. I fooled you. So anyway, if you want cheap ceramic mugs, visit our, at least current sponsor, On Purpose Promotions. Go to OnPurposePromos.com. Well, you can get you the good stuff, too. It's the good stuff. They do. It's on your budget. You can get some nice, an embroidered hat, one of those nice polo-looking things. There's all, can they do all kinds of things? We are right now in the process of getting some embroidered… Like fleeces. Yeah, like Columbia type. Yeah, those are nice. They're nice looking. Yeah, so anyway, coming up on Live from the Path tonight, we got proof number 27, GodIsImaginary.com. We're basically going week by week. This guy has 50 proofs that God is imaginary.

Today, we are hitting proof number 27, which is, I believe, think about life after death. Yep. Do you know what I've learned from him so far? No. I believe that God is not imaginary. Well, I suppose that's helpful for us then, Dan. Yeah. He is trying to say the opposite. Now, let me ask you this. So, if you're new to the show, you know, we have been, we've been walking through, and mostly what we generally find with his proofs are that he just disagrees with God. Right. Now, have you had the experience where you've had a conversation with somebody who you feel actually has maybe a logical mind on the thing and actually, you know, puts up a good argument about that God being imaginary? I think, yeah, you can have a conversation there. You know, you can have at least respect someone's opinion to say they have come to a conclusion that, you know, I don't like God, I'm mad at God, I'm angry, he hurt me, or the church hurt me, or something.

And you can have a conversation there. Is that what you're saying? Yeah. Yeah. And, I mean, I will disagree with them, but at least they're coming from a legitimate point of view. I mean, even Job, you know, laid in the dust and was a little upset, you know, and he never, like, cursed God or anything, like his wife said, too. But his wife is like, come on, curse God and die. Well, he got over it and everything got better. Yeah, it, I'm just going down a dead end. I was going to say, he got over it and everything got better. My mind went off in a different direction. Well, like, God called him out for three straight chapters. I love those chapters. Oh, I read those every time I feel whiny. I'm just like, God talking about, can you put a hook in the Leviathan's mouth? Can you pierce the nose of the Heman? I will speak and you will listen.

Yeah, exactly. That's my favorite part. Stand as a man and I will ask you and you will answer. Yeah, it's the phrase, stand as a man and gird your loins. That means cover your boys, buddy. It's coming. It's time. It's time. Mr. I'm so tough. The God of existence is coming down and he's asking you some questions. You better stand and you better answer. Anyway, we're going to look at the God is imaginary proof number 27. Think about life after death. We're also going to talk about, there was a book that was recently put out by a gal called One Year of Biblical Womanhood. And I did a little, I have not read the book. I probably should foreshadow enough. I haven't read the entire text, of course. Now, to be fair, you're not a woman.

I am not a woman. But like, she went all out. But her explanation was like, you know, so being a biblical woman means that I have to make my own clothes, means I have to grow my hair out. She would have her lady time of the month out on the front yard in separate area from the rest of her family. And I thought, you know, ah, here's the deal. Are you being very loose with the term biblical? Yeah, is that biblical or just ancient history? Yeah, yeah. And it kind of got me down thinking down a road that I didn't quite understand is, you know, when we look at the Old Testament, you know, generally us as evangelicals will say, look, the Old Testament is God's law. Now we're under grace through Jesus Christ who died for our sins. Because how, the question that I guess begs to be asked is, how then are we to live? You know, like, if you read most of the New Testament, especially the writings of Paul, James, Peter, you know, there's a lot of very practical life advice. And there's a lot of Paul, especially, talking to Jews and referring to Gentiles, which is us.

Everybody who's not a Jew, that's us, right? So, but he always says that, you know, as Gentiles are, you know, if they, you know, they're not Jews, so they're not subject to the law or these things. And I thought, well, I'm a Gentile. What am I subject to? You know, and if, is there, how much comes with the culture and how much comes with the peoples as far as it's defined, am I following God? You know, and I know through a heart subject maybe that we are. But like, I don't know, it seems like it's kind of wishy-washy. Most of the New Testament is Paul talking to the Jews saying, look, don't harass the Gentiles because they're not circumcised. Don't go after them. They're Gentiles, you know? And I'm like, well, that's me. What rules do I have to follow, you know? And so we're going to talk about that a little bit and see if we can't figure out exactly what's going on here tonight. And we're also going to have some Dear Abbies. We'll give some advice out, Dear Life on the Path, and we'll try to explain who's the what's

happening. And people got questions. They need help. And we're going to try to provide answers. That sounds exciting. It'll be exciting. I tell you, let's go ahead and we'll get right into the proof. All right? So this is proof number 27. Think about life after death. Here's the premise. If you are a Christian, then Jesus promises that your soul will have everlasting life. In John 3.16, the Bible says, for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, blah, blah, blah, blah. All that you have to do is believe in Jesus and your soul gets to go to heaven. But have you ever really thought about your soul? Troy, have you ever really thought about your soul? I have indeed. That's what I thought.

As have I. Have you ever thought about how the afterlife would work? Which life forms get an afterlife and which do not? See, now that I've never really pondered. No. It hasn't been something that's been gnawing at me. I have. Okay. Dan's in. All right. Here we go. Start with… Okay, Dan. Start with the bacterium. Does it have a soul and does it get an afterlife? No. The only thing that has a soul is what God breathed into after creating it. Man. Man.

So he continues. A bacterium is a cell membrane filled with a variety of molecules. These molecules react together in different ways to create what we call life. Although all of these molecules are reacting in fascinating, interlocking ways, they are still nothing more than chemicals reacting. The miracle of life, in quotes, is no miracle. It is a big chemical reaction. When those reactions stop, the cell is dead. Now here's the question. When the bacterium dies, does it get an afterlife? There are not many people in the United States who believe that bacteria go to heaven. The Bible does not talk about heaven being filled with all the disease, petrification, and pestilence that bacteria cause. And what exactly would go to heaven? Do all the bacteria's molecules get transported to another dimension so that they can keep reacting? If that were happening, there would be thousands of tons of chemicals leaving earth every day. Clearly, there is no afterlife for bacteria cells. Okay. I can't control it.

The bacteria part of heaven is like the hood of heaven. You know what I'm saying? Like Staphylococcus Street. After midnight, you don't go down the bacteria road. You don't want to see what's happening down there. Jeez, man. All right. So here he continues. There are not many people in the United States who believe that bacteria go to heaven. The Bible does not talk about heaven being filled with all the disease, putrefaction, and pestilence the bacteria cause. And what exactly? Okay. We talked about that. So what about mosquitoes? A mosquito is much more complex than a bacterium cell. For one thing, a mosquito is a multicellular insect with amazing capabilities. But if you look at each cell in a mosquito, it is very much like a bacterium in its basic functioning.

Do mosquitoes get an afterlife? Clearly not. Think of how many mosquitoes have lived and died over the course of millions of years. No one imagines heaven being full of septillions of everlasting mosquitoes. There's also the problem that we saw with bacteria. The only way for a mosquito to go to heaven would be to somehow transport all the chemicals in a mosquito from earth to heaven. What about mice? Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. What about chimps? Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Dogs. So what about humans? The human body is nothing but a set of chemical reactions. Blah. The chemical reaction. Who did that? That was from God. It was heaven.

The chemical reactions powering a human life are no different from the reactions powering the life of a bacterium, a mosquito, a mouse, a dog, or a chimp. When a human being dies, the chemical reactions stop. There is no soul mixed in with chemicals, just like there is no soul in a bacterium, a mosquito, a mouse, a dog, or a chimp. Why would there be an afterlife for the chemicals that make up a human body? He's making a jump then. Where's the scientific proof? One way or the other. He just decided there's no soul. He's not provided any yet. Hold on. Okay. Maybe it's a coming. The whole notion of your soul, in quotes, is completely imaginary. My soul is disturbed. The concept of Dan's disturbed soul have been invented by religion because many people have trouble facing their own mortality. It makes people feel better.

But the concept is a complete fabrication. I would, not to cut him off, but like I would throw out there that the basic contents of the Bible and what could happen to a soul if you don't do what the Lord has asked you to do, or more appropriately is if you're directed to his gift of salvation. I feel like that's not something someone would invent. Like they would say, I hope I have an everlasting soul so that I can spend it in a very bad place. Exactly. Okay. Let's see here. The whole notion of a soul is completely imaginary. It's been invented by religion. It is when you think about the chemical reactions powering your life and your brain that you realize how completely imaginary your soul truly is. And at that point, everything about religion comes unraveled. Think back to when you were a kid and you realize that Santa was imaginary. As soon as you knew it, it was obvious. Reindeer cannot fly. A man cannot slide down chimneys. There's no way for one little say to carry all the toys for all the kids of the world.

It is obvious that Santa is make-believe. In the same way it is obvious that human beings are big, walking chemical reactions. Your soul is make-believe just like Santa. When the chemical reaction sees you die, that is the end of it. Knowing this, I think this is the synopsis here, you can see that everything about religion is imaginary. God, the Bible, Jesus, the resurrection, prayer, the Ten Commandments, the creation, story, your soul, everlasting life, heaven, every bit of it, the product of human imagination. The same goes for Allah, the Quran, and so on. As a species, we have believed all this religious dogma for centuries, and most of us believe it today to some degree, and yet it is all fiction. Today, God, in quotes, is just as fictional as were the gods of the Egyptians, the Romans, and the Aztecs. Okay. Go ahead. Go ahead, Buva. First off, no one is arguing the chemical reactions inside of cell. Exactly. No one is arguing the organelles inside of cell, the nucleus, all that good stuff, branched

chain amino acids coming together, all these different things to form cells that branch together to form multi-celled organisms, which are us. So no one's arguing that. Okay. Ninety percent of your proof is absolutely pointless right there. We understand the concept that every single person, every single bit of it is chemical reaction. He hasn't said anything yet, Dan. He's just listening to all those words. I'm encouraging him. I'm getting him riled up. Every bit of it is completely moot at that point. We're not arguing the chemical reactions inside of cell. We're not arguing that that's how we exist scientifically. The question is, so let's follow his argument, is he says because of that, it precludes the soul. The soul isn't a chemical form. The soul isn't an element that branched together to create something bigger than itself or to make compounds that, I mean, the soul isn't made of scientific things.

That's ridiculous. We're not arguing that point. The soul was given to man by God. How do you know that? How do we know that? I mean, it's said in the Bible. Where? Well, okay. Okay, so not those specific points, but going back to what Dan said last week, and I liked it. I mean, man is the only thing that God talks about in Genesis that he breathed life into. That was the only thing he did, and it doesn't talk about making up the chemical makeup of the soul. It's he breathed life into us. He spoke the chemical reactions of trees and dogs and buffalo. If the Big Bang did happen, I'm sure it was huge when God said, let there be light. I mean, I'm sure there was an explosion that, you know, I wouldn't have want to have been there. It was massive.

It was astronomical. I don't know, man. I think it would have been awesome. We would have been destroyed by the matter displacement that happened in the Big Bang. If the Lord produced it and he let me watch, I'm sure he would not allow me to be consumed by it. Did he let you watch those? No, I didn't see that coming. Stand back here. Stand back here, man. Get behind my hand. Put on these goggles. This is about to blow up. One, two, three. Where's Ben? Boomer. Oh, man. Okay, so if you look at both the Old and the New Testament, the word soul that you see in both of those forms of the Bible actually literally translate into breath, which kind

of goes exactly what Dan's saying. So when we're talking about God, we're made in the image and likeness of God, he breathed life into us, which made us unique and in his likeness, frankly, that we even have the ability to have that. And so when you're talking about the biblical perspective of soul, that's what we're talking about. And in my case, it was minty fresh. And Dan's was taquitos. So quick trip taquitos. So here's the problem. What he's trying to talk about is right now, he's basically not even arguing against God right now. He's arguing against the existence of a soul, that you have a dualistic property in your body, that they're spiritual and physical. He's basically saying you're all physical without actually explaining a lot of your decision making and your feelings, emotions, tendencies, behavioral patterns, like a lot of these things that are like a lot of people who have addiction problems throughout their life or a lot of people have family history of X and X and X and X, you know what I'm saying, of behaviors, not diseases or, you know, tolerances, but we're talking like behavioral patterns that they aren't stamped

in your DNA. You know, there's a certain thing that goes to explain that apart from the cell reactions and the firing of the nuclei. And so I feel like he's more arguing with a soul's existence than he is with the existence of God at the moment. Well, and I think that's true. And I think back to the main thing, and the main thing I think we could take away from this is what Dan had said, which is he's not provided any proof that the soul does not exist. Well, you can't really. How would you prove it? Well, exactly. So it's the jump that's weird is to say something that we would all agree with, right? The cell makeup of your organism and say, obviously, because of that, there is no soul. Like you've created a false dichotomy. One does not necessarily lead to the other. One does not necessarily preclude the other. What he wants to state is that this otherwise solves all the problems that you would otherwise have to make up a soul to create. But that's not actually true either.

And so, and it's true that you can't, you can't prove, there's no scientific way to prove the existence of a soul. We've talked about this before where he's provided proof. Like if you start with the fact that God is imaginary, you will never find, you will never believe in miracles, right? Because like you can never believe anything happening outside of the system that you've already agreed to. So the soul fits into that same purpose. If you pre-agree that a soul does not exist and your belief structure is focused on the non-existence of a soul, there's nothing I could ever show you where you would say, oh, right, there is a soul. Yeah. So like that, that, that's the gap is he's presented basically something where there, there's no way to prove or disprove. He's not provided any disprove. If it's supposed to be a proof that there is no soul or that the afterlife is, the whole premise is weird too. Cause like it doesn't make the afterlife ridiculous to me to say that the mosquito doesn't get in. The mosquito doesn't contemplate his afterlife or the potential afterlife that exists.

Neither does the bacterium or the dog or the chimp. Yeah. I feel like the mosquito gets to go. Uh, I, you know, uh, people do like the, the, uh, there'll be no animals in heaven. You know, then have a soul, but, uh, all creation, I wouldn't say every knee shall bow, every, every tongue confess all creation knows who Jesus Christ is. Uh, that, you know, wanting, uh, wanting for his return, right? So fish aren't in because they lack knees and tongues. Well, I'm just saying like, I feel like, uh, like all creation is all creation. We're a special part of that creation. And we were set apart to, to be in relationship with God and have the option, uh, to worship and love and be in a relationship with him. But like, I feel like all creation is there. Uh, so I, I don't see the biblical. I'm a goldfish. Why can't I get in? I just said you could go in. That's what I'm saying. My knee can't bow.

Bop, bop, bop, bop, bop, bop. You, you, you bow automatically. Uh, uh, what was the peril? Jesus says, look, every fin will flop. Bop, bop, bop, bop, bop. He says, uh, the birds of the field, I, I feed them. And so I, you know, why would I not feed you? Uh, he loves the birds too. He just doesn't give him the option to turn his back on him. I almost wish I was a bird. You know what I'm saying? I would just obey and do as I'm told. I feel like, I feel like they're going to be there. I don't see any biblical evidence that they're not. Bop, bop, bop. Catch me, Mike. Take me to heaven with you. Bop, bop, bop, bop. What do you want me to say to that?

That's ridiculous. You want me to argue with a faux goldfish being played by Ben? I ain't going to do it. I got sold, Mike. I got sold. You don't. I just want to celebrate. All right. So, uh, okay. So, lack of proof, right? Like, uh, he spent a lot. I shouldn't have written the whole thing. No, you shouldn't have. It was a waste of space. Yes, it was. Because, like, he spent a long time building up an argument about animals, which is irrelevant, and a bunch of time at a non-proof about the existence of the soul, also a waste of space. Exactly. What was the name of the proof?

Think about the afterlife. Like the goldfish does. This is the weird part. This is, like, I, you know, I never ever, he always uses biblical proofs, right? Like, he's after, he should say, the God of the Bible is imaginary. Because, like, he never tends to attack any other so-called God out there, which basically seems to me, seems to prove that the God of the Bible is relevant. You know what I'm saying? And is, and is, is, is, is, actually, he specifically mentioned the Koran in this one. Yeah, he mentioned the Allah and then the Koran. In fact, he hasn't very often, except on the very one that he did, is when you brought up this particular part. Oh, that's a real stinker. That, that very much sounds like something I would do. And then talks about the, the polytheistic Romans and Egyptians and Greeks. Lord, help me. It's a good day. Why can't I just be a goldfish and be let in on that? Yeah, be let in.

Maybe heaven is on that hook. Oh, darn. It seems to be. Looks like I got caught again. All right, so that's, I don't know, I'd like to know who his target audience is. Right, I don't know. He's never convinced anybody of anything. He's literally trying to say, just because we can't map in the genetic project. I've never seen a soul, therefore they don't exist, so God doesn't exist. We don't know what nucleotides match up to make a soul, so there's not a soul. That's ridiculous. Like nuclei don't fire. You've used that incorrectly, by the way. I don't care. Nobody cares. Here's the thing. Apart from you science dudes, nobody cares. Nobody cares. It cares at all.

Nobody. The mitochondria might have some fire in it. If you want to work for this guy, Troy, you keep up your behavior. He needs dudes like you that can explain that kind of stuff. No one cares. What a bold statement. But everything about religion is imaginary. Feeding the poor is imaginary. We feed the singing at Mercy Hospice was imaginary. That was very real. Going to child servants and singing Christmas carols to little children in wheelchairs. That was very real. Sorry, my friend, you lose. You seem to have taken serious offense to that one. I am offended. I would sing, but I don't have any vocal cords. I'm pretty sure this is run old term. We just went through proof number 27 on godisimaginary.com. We do this every week, so if you want to check out the back proofs about what's going on and

what's, you know, basically the way he's trying to explain how God is imaginary. It looks like next week we're going to be hitting on notice how many gods you reject. Oh, man. There's a big list of them. Man. Give me the top five. Okay, here's the opening. There are literally thousands of religions being practiced today. Here are 20 of the most popular along with an estimate of the number of followers. Christianity, 2.1 billion. Sweet. Islam, 1.3 billion. That is sweet. Three, Hinduism, 900 million. Not even legitimate. Four, Chinese traditional religion, 394 million. That's made up. Five, Buddhism, 376 million. Is Buddhism a religion or a philosophy?

I think that's a philosophy. No, Buddhism is the belief in the enlightened Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama. Even Buddha himself said, don't worship me as God. No, Siddhartha Gautama, who was an Indian prince. No, I'm being honest. Siddhartha Gautama. Because I want to get that down. S-I-D-D-A-R-T-H-G-A-U-T-A-M-A. Siddhartha Gautama was an Indian prince that was the original incarnation of Buddha. What do you do for a living, Buddha? Seriously. I'm telling you. You should be a salesman. He was the original incarnation of the Buddha. He was the first guy. And obviously, you know, they talk about reincarnation of Buddha. He comes back every generation. Who is it now? Who's the current Buddha?

I don't know who. Is it the Dalai Lama? I think that's what they call the… Reveal yourself. Okay. Somebody Google. Please stop current Buddha. Just look up the current Dalai Lama is what you'd look at. No, no. Don't take the guess. Do a Google search for current Buddha and see what happens. Whatever. It could be me. So it is actually a religion. It is a religion. Buddha had a lot of philosophy. He did speak… He was a man that he talked about being a man, but he was put up by his followers as being a god and being able to be reincarnated.

Sure, but maybe isn't it possible to be… I mean, I'm really speaking ignorantly. No, that's fine. Isn't it possible to be a follower of the Buddha philosophy and go, well, there's some good things in it. I haven't read it, so I can't even talk to it. No, that's absolutely… Hold on a second. WikiAnswers.com, which I'm going to read. I'm going to consider trustworthy. Okay. It says, Buddha is not a title like Pope or King. It indicates a condition of enlightenment. It is not given to a single person. It's not limited to one person. Actually, I checked Wikipedia. It said the current Buddha is Paula Abdul. Paula Abdul is the current Buddha? Well, I'm only asking because I actually had a friend who said, hey, I'm a Buddhist, but

I'd like to attend your church. Well, I mean, there's… And so I like… There's certain… Yeah, there's things you can follow. I mean, the Buddha had said, excuse me, the original, whatever you want to call it. The classic Buddha. The classic Buddha. If you think of the Buddha, the Buddha guy, Siddhartha Gautama. Like the guy… He spoke and said very many things that… I mean, it's not necessarily just going towards his religion. I mean, there were a lot of things that he said that can be applied to everyday life. Yeah. I mean, it's not just if you follow those things that you're following Buddha. It's just philosophy, but there is an actual religion that is Buddhism. I mean, you could just follow the philosophy or you can be a full-blown Buddha. That's what I've always assumed. Right.

I had this conversation that I'm like, oh, I plead ignorant. Yeah. I would say I'm going to go with 90% ignorance on this Buddha topic. I think we better bail on it. Good move. I better study. Getting my Siddhartha Gautama's all in a bunch. All right. You've been listening to Live from the Path. We're coming to you every Monday night, roughly around 10 p.m., whenever we get stuff fired up. So I tell you what we're going to do. We're going to take a quick station break, and we'll be right back with you. Thank you for listening to Live from the Path. Hey, so you guys that are hanging out here on the Internet, if you're even there, boy, we got a real rough… We got a rough go of this Internet stuff for the last few weeks. Yeah, what's the deal? I don't know what's causing the problem. I'm sorry that we are of such terrible service to you.

We're utilizing a free YouTube item. Maybe that's the problem. Maybe we're going to put the big money in it, Mike. Well, we've got to make the big money, which means we've got to get some big money from somebody. Okay. So if you want to give us big money, I don't want it directly. I'm irresponsible. In fact, we were talking before the show started that it's best that no one win the lottery because we feel like either it would change me or the people around me. And either way, I don't want to deal with it. So I'm going to stick with the low-level work. Yeah, then I'm currently employed. I don't know, man. Like, almost all those guys come to ruin, like the guys that win the lottery. And I always think that I wouldn't be that guy, but like, I don't know. That's pretty close to absolute power, corrupting absolutely, right? You got $300 million in your pocket. Unless you gave it away right away.

Like, what if I took it and just gave it all away, like, directly? Yeah. And so I'm no longer rich, but I gave it away to somebody. Of course, maybe I'm just passing out corruption, right? I would set up some foundations that did continual help, legitimate help for people. I wouldn't… Yeah, like, give somebody $5 million a year to do with it what they can. Yeah. So I can't win $300 million and then give it to Boova? No. He just took his life instead of me. Yeah, I'm going to recommend that you do not give me $300 million. I would buy a Chewbacca suit. I'm going to be honest about that. That is the one thing I'm sure that I would buy. I hope you wouldn't lie about that. I'm going to buy a Chewbacca suit. I'm lying. I'm just joking.

I've honestly contemplated doing that right now. All right. All right. Hey, welcome back. Thank you for hanging out with us on 99.3 KTIA. We broadcast every Saturday night on KTIA. Okay, so I was checking out the CNN Belief blog this week and I ran across this article about a gal named Rachel Held Evans. And she wrote a book called A Year of Biblical Womanhood. I'm going to read you the synopsis real quick and we're going to have a quick chat about what she's got going on here. So it says, Strong-willed and independent, Rachel Held Evans couldn't put a button on a blouse before she embarked on a radical life experiment, a year of biblical womanhood. Intrigued by the traditionalist resurgence that led many of your friends to abandon their careers to assume traditional gender roles in the home, Evans decided to try it for herself, vowing to take all of the Bible's instructions for women as literally as possible for a year. Pursuing a different virtue each month, Evans learns the hard way

the quest for biblical womanhood requires more than a gentle and quiet spirit from 1 Peter 3-4. It means growing out her hair, making her own clothes, covering her head, obeying her husband, rising before dawn, abstaining from gossip, remaining silent in church, and even camping out in the front yard during her period. With just the right mixture of humor and insight, compassion and incredulity, a year of biblical womanhood is an exercise in scriptural exploration and spiritual contemplation. What does God truly expect of women and is there really a prescription for biblical womanhood? Come check out the book. So, here's my question. Her premise is she's basically trying to

fulfill her duties as a woman according to the Bible. Some of the things that she has listed, I feel, are not prescribed to women. And I thought, why do I think that, right? Because some of those things are Old Testament law that she's describing. And I thought, well, we're not judged by the law anymore. And we're Gentiles anyway. Like, we weren't there when the Jewish law was handed down. And so, we're not really, you know, judged by it. But, like, Jesus followed it and said, not one letter of the law will be taken away while I'm here. So, he used it as his example for living. And I thought, so, I mean, what laws are we accustomed to?

We don't have a bunch of ladies sitting out on their front yard during the month or growing their hair long or making, I don't know, anywhere in the Bible where it says you've got to make your own clothes and get up before dawn. I assume, is that Proverbs 31 somewhere or something? Probably gleamed a little bit from there. I'm thinking. I feel like that was kind of a, I don't know, that was taking a stretch. The head coverings and stuff, you know, I know that's in 1 Corinthians. So, I know that's,

it's debated and still relatively fresh. But, I don't know, fellas. What do you think? What do you think of this task that she's done? Do you think that, and I'm not really worried about her motivation. I don't know the woman. I don't want to judge her in either way. But, like, do you see any merit in the, in her attempt to do so? No. No, you've wasted a year. I'm sorry, Ms. Evans.

I've not read the book, so I can't, you know, comment specifically on the book. But the concept, as a writer, I think that's kind of a cool thing. It's a nice little hook. I can see her, someone doing that and having some fun with it, which I'm assuming is what she did. But some of the principles, you have to be careful of, like the Old Testament, it reveals the heart of God, but we don't like follow all the laws of the Old Testament. They refer to a specific group

at a specific time. You know, does she also scrape the, you know, get to find the high priest to get the mold off the wall and to check the mold, you know, if it is broken? Here's the thing. Here's the question that I guess that arose to me after just reading that synopsis is, I don't know why I live the way I live now that I think about it. But I don't know why, like I realize that the,

I realize that I am saved differently because of Jesus Christ, right? I realize that I am not, I am not attempting to have my own sacrifices to appease a God, right? My sacrifice was made by Jesus. I know, I know that's how I'm saved. But why, where did, why did the law go away? Like as a way of life, like I get it, that's not how salvation happens for me. But like, well, Jesus fulfilled the law. Everything pointed toward the ultimate sacrifice.

Once the ultimate sacrifice was made, it was, it was fulfilled. Well, that's what, that's exactly what I'm saying though, is I feel like the salvation part can go because Jesus was the sacrifice. But what about everything else? Keep it all? Well, that's what I'm asking. Why did, where in the Bible does it say that goes away now? Like the salvation part I get, the sacrifice part I get. We don't need those anymore because Jesus was that.

But like the sundry laws and the, what are all the other behavior? Why does that go away now? Right. Well, I'd say it's, it's fulfilled. I mean, it's like we don't, we just don't need it. It's good to read and good to understand, maybe follow the principle, the heart behind it. But, but the actual law, once you start following the law, once you break one part of the law,

you're guilty of breaking the whole law. Dan, I feel like we're going in circles here. I think we are. Because, even not fully comprehending. Well, I mean, the basis of your question is probably questionable, right? The question is, is you're asking, why do you have your sleeves rolled up like some kind of 30s tough? Let's get a little spicy. He's got a cigarette packet. All right, go ahead.

Let's get spicy in here. Continue on. But you're asking, you're asking, why does it go away? Maybe I'll ask the same thing. Why do you think it has to stay? I don't know. God set it down to begin with, I guess. Okay, but what about it, what about it makes you think it has to be here permanently? That it must persist? If God's done with it, why do you want to retain it? Well, but how do you know God's done with it?

That's what I'm asking. Well, because, just like Dan said, he said it's been fulfilled. The salvation part has been fulfilled. Like, the reason for the sacrifices have been fulfilled, but like, some of that other stuff just seems like good common sense. That was the purpose for the whole thing, though. It was a nation set apart, holy to God, and out of that nation would come a savior for the world.

And, if you look at a lot of the law, probably a lot of the things she did, it had to do with health issues, eating correctly, happening to working around the menstrual cycle so that when you come together with your husband, it happens to be the time when you're fertile, if you ever noticed that. And they just, that's why they kept multiplying, you know, because that's when they were together was during those prime moments. So a lot of it had to do

with preparing the world for the savior and having a nation that was healthy and clean. And that's why they, one of the reasons they looked so down on some of the foreign countries is they were dirtier, they didn't clean themselves like Jewish people did. They just didn't take care of themselves. They ate things that were unhealthy and had diseases. And so some of it had to do with just keeping them healthy. Yeah. Some of those principles aren't bad. I mean.

Well, I guess that's what I'm saying. Like, I just don't know, you know, how it fell off to the, to the wayside. And if that's the truth, if, if, if those laws were, you know, for that time period and for that discussion, you know, does some of that, like the problem is like, that's the main standing point that most people use when they talk about cultural changes now,

like homosexuality. You know what I'm saying? They say that was set up in that time period because of, you're basically using the same argument against, you know, bleeding on your front yard. And so, you know what I'm saying? It just seems like a real slippery slope. Except for one is the interpretation of man as far as what culture changes. And the second is the explicit nature of scripture as far as the things

that passed away. Like Paul covers this in Romans. He talks about, he covers it in Romans 7 about the law passing away and that we are under grace. That's in Romans 6. But like, and the, that's the, that's the scripture saying that this has fallen away as opposed to man saying, you know, I feel like this has changed. And keeping the law doesn't save you. Right. The salvation is still Jesus.

Like Jesus was, I mean, if, if your, your salvation from the Old Testament renew is still the sacrifice of Christ. Right. It's just looking ahead to his death in the Old Testament and then it's already happened for me. But like ultimately Christ dying on the cross was the reason people are saved. It's those Old Testament

sacrifices were just, were basically a penance, maybe not the right word, but it's like, here's what happened, you know, to pay for that sin. Here's, here's what has to be sacrificed. It's, it's, it's a visual representation of you, the, the decrepitness of your life and the sacrifice and so that we would

ultimately understand Christ and, and ultimately they would as well. And so, you know, again, I think the distinction of what you're making and I understand where you're coming from is that, well, you know, as things change, things adapt, but like this is, this is one specific moment, a specific set of things

that led up to Christ, which covers salvation for both before and after his death. And then that, that has fallen away is a specific item that has been addressed in scripture and continual revolution through the times is, is not Holy Spirit generated and so it doesn't hold the same standard. Yeah, here's the thing though is I just feel like most of the,

like most of the New Testament that we would point back to points back to the Old Testament law to back up why something is right or not right. That's, it's a, like give me an example. Like it's a random thing to say without giving an example. Well, the homosexuality thing is probably a good example. Well, but that wasn't, those, the things that are in the Old Testament law

do reveal character things of God, right? He's not saying that this has to remain because the law is still in force but like there are things that are, that reveal the character of God and the design of his creation and those things persist regardless of whether the ceremonial law But now you're, you're putting, you're putting the emphasis

on whatever you find important to be the character of God like you say the character of God reveals that homosexuality is not what they're after, right? I say the character of God reveals that they like to make their own clothes and he's pretty, he's pretty uptight about that and really wants it done Except for, you're ignoring the fact that the scripture is clear on those things, right?

Like it's, it's, Jesus is talking about things, Paul is talking about those things Pointing back to the Old Testament But not necessarily Which you've abolished The same Paul said that we are no longer under the law that we are under grace So unless you're willing to disagree with Paul you have to reconcile the two and that's the way those two are reconciled But that's exactly what I'm saying though Like you're just picking one

and saying well he definitely met that one and then you're looking at mine and going he's probably okay to change it Because he explicitly talked about that one Right? The scriptures explicitly say those things But that's what I'm saying Okay, this will probably be more topical discussion Right? But I guess that's exactly what I'm saying

is like when Paul talks about it he references Deuteronomy You know what I'm saying? Like he goes back and references the old law which we're no longer accustomed to Right, so what I'm saying is that I agree the same Paul does that just like Jesus refers back to events that he refers back to Noah He refers back to things that happened in Genesis Right

But Paul, the same Paul also says that we're not under law we're under grace So either you have to figure that the scriptures are wrong they're fallible and that Paul is confused or you have to reconcile the two and the way that those two are reconciled is to say that Paul is true that the law has fallen away but there are characteristics of that law that are maintained as specifically outlined by Jesus and Paul

But that's the thing I guess that's maybe where we're just going to have to have to whatever call it a stalemate because I feel like you are choosing which part of the characteristics you're bringing on Paul is choosing Paul is choosing Peter is choosing the writers of the New Testament as led by the Holy Spirit So basically you're saying since they didn't bring it back up again

then it's not really a big deal I would say that specifically the things that are mentioned in the New Testament that otherwise reveal characteristics of God that were also revealed through the law are to be maintained because they were specifically mentioned Right But otherwise Paul has said that the law has been fulfilled So as far as the New Testament stands cultural changes

are not acceptable it is what it is If it was brought up again in the New Testament as being apart from law and under grace then and it was spoken upon that would be the second time in the Bible at least then the cultural changes are not going to apply Well you have to look at each text and say who is he writing to what is the topic what was the message

of God to those people and in some texts God doesn't the point of 1 Peter which you mentioned earlier isn't necessarily oh no if you have an earring on man you're just really bad in God's eyes the point was in their culture wearing some of this jewelry meant you were a prostitute so really the message is don't be a prostitute so you've got to get under the scripture and kind of see

what was going on who he's talking to what is this community hearing when he says these words and some of them are very bold like you've mentioned certain sexual deviancies sure it's a deviancy no matter what generation you're in and maybe part of the message is like in prostitution it was something you don't do in the Old Testament something you don't do in the New Testament

and he's even saying here hey don't even look like a prostitute because people will assume what you've got going on on the side is probably not a godly thing so he talks about the braiding of the hair and putting the gold jewelry on let your beauty come from the inside and I don't know what her conclusion is in this book I haven't read her book and here's the only reason that I'm actually standing on this and to be honest with you

I'm playing the opposite advocate here because this is the argument that generally comes from most of the nominations that you're seeing that will accept a homosexual marriage or a homosexual priest or you know what I'm saying like people as far as the Bible would be concerned are living in unrepentant sin the sin of sexuality is not the big stoning here like it'd be the same thing if you were an unrepentant murderer and trying to become a priest like they should have

the same problem you know and so that's not the sin that I'm trying to stand on but it's the sin that is most contentious about and most argued about from the dominations that are starting to allow this thing and they're working off the exact same argument that I'm presenting you know what I'm saying like it's a cultural change we're not in the law anymore this was written during a certain time period to a certain people

you know let it go but I think coming back to kind of what we discussed is the only way excuse me to get there is to degrade the authority of scripture at some point like you have to say this part of the scripture doesn't mean either doesn't mean what the general interpretation would say it means or you do have to pin it towards say this is a cultural thing

not a biblical thing not an authority thing not a character of God thing and like that's generally how those discussions go is to say like when Dan's talking about the jewelry and the prostitution people would take that same thing and say well this section of scripture only refers to a certain cultural thing at that time generally speaking I think of sufficient word study would come to the point

where that's not true you know but it's a way to bend it and have it look like you want it to and that is the danger of people taking scripture and trying to twist it to fit what they want it to like I'm not invested in what scripture says to fit my own way I just want to do what it says and so when I come from it from that way I spend a lot of time trying to figure out what it is

direction is for my life there are people who want to live a certain way who want to do certain things and you just have to twist the scripture to let it do what you want it to do and ultimately that will happen and then that's where you get the splits well I feel like that gets kind of hard because it kind of shows the line because like that verse in particular with the wearing of jewelry

right like that gets put into two different camps pretty fast the more liberal interpretation who wants to do what they want will say that was for an older testament or for an older culture and older time it doesn't really apply to us now the more strict interpretation will read that exactly how it sits and go fine

no jewelry you know what I'm saying like I feel like the interpretation is on either one depending on which way you slide I don't think you've labeled that correctly though strict and liberal is not the right connotation because like if the accurate representation is that it's being said to a specific

culture at a specific time to read it strictly and say that it must also apply to me doesn't mean that you've read it right doesn't mean that like that's not a conservative approach necessarily it could just flat out be the wrong one you need a proper hermeneutical approach

of getting what the message is what did God what does that mean the study of scripture I just want to impress you with a big word is it a guy is Herman a man no it's just he's the clan of Udiks but you're right Ben it's everything is what is the intent of that scripture

and yeah because you can take any scripture and twist it how you want it and make it sound good but that doesn't mean you've properly interpreted what God said you just interpreted it to sound how you want it to sound so well aren't the people who are on let's

say the opposite end of the scale and you're going to say you've done the same thing though well probably here's the thing though is like that's why you have a full counsel right you have the full counsel of God you have things that reveal the character except for the

Old Testament which we can flatly ignore no that's a mistake right because it reveals parts of his character and so if the character of God is immutable if it does not change then I should be able to look at the things that are said and the

situations and try to put them in perspective of the other things that show up within the scripture this is where you run into some of the biggest problems where people subjugation of women and the justification of slavery right in the American justification of slavery like the Civil War time so like these were perversions of the

gospel these do not reflect the full counsel of God these reflect people taking one or two things that they really dig on and that support their way of life and they just rail on those but that you know they mistake the fact that both men and women were created in his image they mistake the fact that people were not born to hold on to another human being

as property in the way that it was happening during the Civil War and so you know that's that people will do that but you have to ignore the full counsel of God the full character of God to get there and that's generally what people will do well and that's it even in well forget that there are liberal scholars I hate to call them scholars or

theologians who purposefully twist words and they'll write it at such a depth that the average person can't understand it but they'll come to the conclusion of what you're saying you know and it'll it'll it'll distort and pervert the word of God but they've just convinced a lot of people and then that kind of trickles down into Sunday schools and

that's how you get these liberal churches is they've they've changed the foundation well another scholar could come in who's accurately read the scripture and knows the history legitimately not not made up history and they can come in and say pretty much you're wrong but well here's it like that's the thing that scares me a little bit is because like like I will get into you

know a theological situation I know what I believe already I know where whatever you know what I've read in the Bible and how it struck me and how I feel about it but then I'll do some research on it and it will go like it'll just bounce back and forth between two intelligent theologians on the opposite sides of the issue and I'm like I'd have been

better off if I hadn't even looked into it I had just been better off reading it saying Holy Spirit what's the deal okay good enough for me I'm out you know I'm saying because like you can get dragged either way by a human argument and just and just be taken you know and I found that to be the truth I have a very hard time finding pastors that I trust that I trust

you know I'm saying like like people who are doing especially Bible teaching like I it's hard to vet them you know because I will listen to a certain preacher for a while I'm like yeah yeah this is okay great you know this is these are great teaching parts and then and then they'll say one thing and I'm like oh dang it you know I hear you and then you and then you just got to keep going

and and so you know I don't know it just some sometimes it just really makes me nervous getting your scriptural interpretations from one source you know I feel like you need to spread it out amongst five six guys you know do some research on your own read your own Bible for heaven's sakes you know get some information out of God's words because I feel like what just couldn't what happened here like well you know I was trying to hold

down their side of the argument and I'm not even good at it you know I'm saying they would probably be much better be much more interesting conversation but like these are the arguments that go back and forth I'm like well I suppose that guy has a decent point you know and then I'll read one that I already predestinely agree with and be like yeah get him you know and so I don't know it seems kind of hard and when I

read this when I saw the premise of this book I'm like where where is she falling off the rails here like well this seems like it wasn't necessary it's purveying a God that that you know wants to throw everybody back to the stone age and have you tied to your place and like I don't know it just felt like a very odd way to go well in Jesus himself said that false Christ and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders to excuse me as

to lead astray even if possible even the elect you know and I think that's part partly what's going on now Paul talks about doctrines taught by demons and I think there are people who have gotten into the church world that have that have perverted the word of God in order to change it which is which is a doctrine of demons is no longer a doctrine of God right and you have to be careful with that so even even Bibles anymore I hate to say it but you have to be careful what Bibles you

get because they have changed some of the some of the Bible that I trusted for years and years and years I don't buy anymore because of there is a liberal slant in it and they have started changing things and don't mess with the word of God you know the word of God hasn't changed it's the same words that were written thousands of years ago and for us to suddenly say well no it's different you know we're going to neutralize things whatever no no it's not you can't politicize it and

theologians have have you know kept these great excuses and explanations but they're wrong yeah I tell you what there's not very many things that puts a pit in my stomach and usually if it if it does it has to do with deep theological issues you know I'm saying where I'm like look I know the heart of God's in here somewhere and then I attempt to research it I'm like how can I even step forward if these guys are battling it out you know I'm saying I'm just a guy I'm just a dude that is trying to obey number one

and number two which is love God with all your heart and your soul your mind and your strength and love others like you want to be loved you don't say treat others like you want to be treated and like that that was actually my out after thinking about this for a while I thought you know what I don't care I don't care I'm gonna worry about number one and number two loving God and loving people and then like the rest of this stuff I feel like the Lord will shake out on his own maybe it's still good for some people

maybe people some some people still need to follow this but like if you have to go to great links to explain around the scripture you can probably have a pretty good idea they're probably not correct right it's not that hard to read a verse and get the heart out of it yeah you know like in some of the issues you mentioned I mean it's not really hidden between you know the lines God just comes to us yeah don't do that yeah I'm not I'm not digging on that and if you're saying oh no no no you can do that then you're thinking okay you're

just probably more to the story here you have an agenda right you got a string five verses together from three different authors and go here's the thing that's not what he meant here what I meant to say was like no that's what he said you've been listening to live from the path thank you for hanging out with us so far tonight please direct any I'm sure we've caused someone to be upset about that conversation so you can contact info at live from the path dot org we love to hear from you and recognize

before you get on your high horse there friend that we just love Jesus we're trying to do the right thing or humans and we can see things the wrong way or the right way and it's very possible that you're wrong so there so thanks for listening so far as well hey so here's the one thing I want to get out of here before we before we leave I want to make sure that you you hear about a Christmas event so here's the deal is we wanted to put on a Christmas event that would kind of culminate in the stuff that that that we try to do

which is to to share the gospel of Jesus Christ to be a venue of which local Christian artists and sometimes national Christian artists can can share their music with others and and also be a part of our community and one of the ways that we can do that is we're going to put together the life from the path Christmas extravaganza and what we're going to do is we're going to record that on December 19th at Crown Point Community Center in Johnston and doors open at 730 and you can be part of the live studio

audience to come in and check that out and we'd love to have you out just to be part of that event where you have a bunch of local acts that will come in Jeff Arundel who've had on the show multiple times is hosting the house band and so he's going to be a holding court while some of the other artists that we've had on the program including Daniel Brown from State on Sunday Chris Roloff Kevin Lindgren Sean Covington and many more will be there just to share some holiday tunes with some Christmas tunes and we just want to have a good time and

we want you to be part of it so mark that on your calendar what is it Wednesday December 19th at the Crown Point Community Center in Johnson at 730 and you can come out and be part of that live studio audience so here's what we're gonna do we're gonna record that and that'll that'll be played on KTA that Saturday at 10 p.m. and it will also play the video from the show on Christmas Eve for a normal 10 o'clock broadcast at Live from the Path so please mark your calendar and we'd love to meet you

we'd love to have you come out and enjoy the show and enjoy the bands we've had on that are a giving of their time and their talent for the Lord and for the program so please come out and enjoy that Mike we got like three minutes go Dear Live from the Path my husband and I have hosted a holiday party for our neighbors every year for the last 10 years over time we invited more and more people and we enjoy almost everyone however one of our neighbors Jim is very rude for the past several years

he has taken it upon himself to invite several people to our party who who he feels should have been on the list these people are we purposely didn't invite them last year we decided not to invite Jim but after he sent multiple emails demanding to know the date and time we reluctantly did he then had the nerve to send out email to dozens of people he thought we had missed on the guest list notifying them of the party this was really embarrassing for husband and I how can I

tell him it's not his party and how do we deal with the situation with the folks we did not initially invite but now know about the party okay ready here's what you say to Jim you say Jim this is not your party to invite other people to stop inviting people to the party that that's pretty bold that feels pretty awkward though if Jim invited let's say six dudes and they show up like hey we're here for the party and you look at them people you've never met in the eye and go

yeah we didn't really invite you no hold on I didn't give you how to deal with the the guests yet I'm saying the first question was how to deal with Jim how do we tell Jim that it's not his party and stop inviting people I take a restraining order out against him that's fairly passive aggressive is it not I would cut his phone line why don't you just start with Jim this is not your party quit inviting people to it he's rude he wouldn't get he'd do it anyway I would dig up what

if you just stop inviting him he you've tried that yeah he kept he kept he kept at it at it now here's the thing if he's gonna send 10 emails to try to get himself uh reinvited he's he's gonna show up at the party no matter what you do you can still ignore those emails he's still gonna come over he's Jim you are almost gonna have to do a restraining order I'm telling you I'm teasing like if he's willing to show up at any cost yeah I mean what are you gonna do keep

him out is there gonna be a brawl at your place I don't know it seems it's once a guy's across that line what do you do about a guy like that you know yeah I think eventually you have to do the restraining order I don't think you have choice Booba what you got um 30 seconds go I tell Jim yeah you're ridiculous this isn't your party stop inviting people he says I don't care I'm coming over Booba that that's unfortunate for him you

tell him it's not his party he's not welcome there are you threatening me no you're telling me he's not allowed in your property I'm telling you I'm telling you he's coming over anyway Booba what are you gonna do if he comes over and it becomes that big of a deal and you don't want him there that bad call the cops Wiener give him an elbow yeah let's let's cause assault second off call the cops Jim needs to email those people back and tell him hey this

wasn't my party I feel like he's not gonna do the guy that shows up to your house when you don't invite him is not gonna email people back and go it's my bad that's your first step you tell Jim hey this wasn't your party to invite people to you you need to let those people know they're not invited no I'm not gonna he says no fine you man up you you tell those people unfortunately we only have a selected few that we invited you

weren't on that open up your house quit being stingy share the love of this the holiday spirit with him you say let the people in yeah let them in except for Jim let the people yeah he just needs love he's difficult let him in everyone comes in everyone comes in I'd like to see how that party turns out for you Ben all right you've been listening to live from the path please don't come to my place that this uh my advice here is not a reflection of my

general advice and my day-to-day affairs I don't want you at my house I'm showing up your house please stay in your own place do not invite people via email over thank you for listening to live from the path have a wonderful week we will see you next week
