Segments

  • Show open, banter, and tech trouble 3:59–7:38
The show opens live from the Pathway studios with singing-along banter; hosts tease band member Tim for taking his shoes off seconds after arriving, riff on the 'half jack' donkey joke, and wrestle with a broken camera that leaves one host frozen on-screen.
  • Guest introduction and studio banter 7:38–10:06
The hosts welcome the band Silversyde (rendered 'Syndrome of Fire' in the transcript) to the studio, with the usual cross-talk about being a sound guy, abrasive shirts, and the band bantering back.
  • Tour talk — Indiana, West Coast, Key Club 10:06–11:39
The band talks about heading to Indiana this Wednesday and a West Coast run in October, including an invitation to play the Key Club in Hollywood and the B-52's venue by the beach — a big deal for a small band from Iowa.
  • Plates, shoes, Back to the Future, and tour logistics 11:40–15:30
A host offers to open for the band by spinning plates (poorly); the shoe riff returns, Back to the Future's motorized laces and drying jacket are debated, and the band describes financing trailers and vans as God's hand moves ahead of them.
  • The soda negotiation story 15:32–17:58
A host (speaker-0) tells the running-joke origin of the band's 'we don't pay for soda' rule: a bar charged him $1.50 for a Diet Right out of the fountain, and he refused to pay until his booking guy, Dale, straightened it out.
  • Facebook habits and Tim's TV-news audio story 17:58–21:26
A host considers quitting Facebook for a week after noticing it turns him into a town gossip; then Tim (speaker-2) tells a story from his TV-news audio days about a reporter who held his mic at his belly button during a New Year's broadcast from Fort Des Moines, plus Anchorman, Kevin Cooney, and an Adrian Brody sighting.
  • Transition and contact info 21:26–23:02
The hosts tease grandpa in the chat, plug livefromthepath.org, the YouTube channel, the podcast, and the newsletter while the band sets up to play.
  • 'Best of Me' song intro 23:02–24:18
Cassie (addressed by name, speaker-3) introduces the first song, 'Best of Me,' as a sad song about losing the best thing in one's life — written as if she had lost the man she married.
  • 'Best of Me' studio performance 24:38–28:46
Silversyde performs 'Best of Me' live in the studio, Cassie on vocals.
  • WGN News comedy sketch 28:50–32:25
A pre-produced comedy sketch: 'World God Network News at seven' with anchors Peter Fisher and Mary Magazine, correspondent Israel Gazales, River Jordan on sports, and weatherman Al Soker (also rendered 'Soaker'). Jokes include plastic surgery ('God told me to do it'), NASA's scrubbed shuttle Angelica launch, God banning speaking in tongues ('you're fired'), the Dallas Cowboys as God's favorite sports team, and rain that breaks only when a man says a prayer of repentance.
  • Half-jack eBay gag and the rendering truck story 33:04–38:32
The hosts joke about buying a 'half jack' on eBay, then Tim recounts calling highway patrol about a man lying parallel in a traffic lane next to a flat-tired car — which spirals into a long bit about what a 'rendering truck' actually is, illustrated with a photo of a pig hoisted under a rendering truck.
  • Mad cow blood-donation story 38:33–39:44
Tim (speaker-2) explains he can't donate blood because he was in England during the mad cow scare — the dollar signs fell away when the screening questions reached it.
  • EP 'Static' and songwriting quality 39:44–42:23
The band describes its four-song EP 'Static' — sold for $6 via email/fan club — and why they chose to spend the big bucks on a short, tight-quality recording instead of a cheaper full-length album.
  • Van offer and the insurance-policy joke 42:23–43:29
A host offers his 16-passenger van as a tour vehicle (subject to his wife's veto) and coins the running joke 'the Dan Hudson insurance policy' — Dan Hudson being named on-air as the owner of the policy.
  • Song background — the suicide-note song 43:30–46:28
A band member (speaker-5) explains the next song's verses paraphrase a close friend's suicide note, which the friend blogged on Facebook before taking his life; the chorus is what the band wishes they could have said ('didn't you know that we loved you'). After a show in Benson, Minnesota with the band Fades Away, the song helped free a girl who had attempted suicide herself.
  • Second song performance ('Didn't you know') 46:29–50:17
Silversyde performs the suicide-note song live in the studio, built around the repeated chorus 'didn't you know that we loved you.'
  • Reaction, songwriting philosophy, crossover crowds 50:18–55:08
The hosts call the song beautiful; the band contrasts songs that came together in minutes ('So Sorry') with ones God made them wait for ('The Letter,' from the EP), and talks about playing for crowds that know nothing about God and feeling His presence show up there.
  • 'Don't label us a Christian band' discussion 55:09–59:12
Cassie explains they don't want to be 'that Christian band' — they want people to see something different in them rather than label themselves; the hosts agree that flowery, phony church culture drives newcomers away ('phony service equals phony God'), while authenticity and real life are what people connect with.
  • Band origin story 59:15–1:05:00
Ryan (addressed by name, speaker-5) tells how God started the band: a trip to the International House of Prayer (IHOP) in Kansas City, meeting a replacement keyboard player at Central College in Pella (where his wife works), Tim joining, Cassie becoming lead singer, and Jaemon leaving his band First Born Son. A prophecy-room word at IHOP — that their expectations were set too low — kicked the floodgates open.
  • Tim's stories — karaoke opener, David Cross, 'Thriller' 1:05:02–1:08:25
Tim tells of being in a band mocked by comedian David Cross, and of his dad taking him to see Damon Wayans on 'black comedy night' at the LA Improv; a host admits he gave up learning the 'Thriller' wedding dance from YouTube after twenty minutes.
  • Bette Midler, iTunes, juggler, carnival barker 1:08:26–1:11:36
A tangent on buying Bette Midler's 'Wind Beneath My Wings' on iTunes (with Tim's screenshot of the 'are you sure' prompt), the fear of algorithmic recommendations, the Adventureland juggler's crowd-prod trick, and Tim's story of a carnival barker selling the world's largest No. 2 pencil and 'a hamburger with arms and eyes.'
  • Metal alloy pen hunt and call-in number 1:11:38–1:13:38
The hosts eBay-hunt a metal-alloy pen ('Ben fifty one fifty' is bidding), announce the call-in number 327-1007, and read chat shoutouts ('Hi, Ben').
  • Tim's drum opener stories 1:13:38–1:15:57
Prompted by a band member, Tim (speaker-2) tells his funniest road stories: claiming his old band 'played before the Dixie Chicks' (three hours earlier, same stage) and drumming in a bar corner while opening for a karaoke set — the lyric screen in his face and a CD playing through the PA at the same time as the band.
  • Blues band past and Blues on Grand closing 1:16:01–1:16:51
A host recalls his old blues band's Tuesday-night residency at Blues on Grand in Des Moines — now closing — joking they quit playing there because the venue stopped giving them free pop.
  • Keyboard and shoe-off piano solo jokes 1:16:51–1:17:51
Gear talk about the keyboard (a Stevie-Wonder-on-Awards-shows Motif, falling apart from missing screws) leads to the bit of playing a piano solo with the shoe off, throwing it at the keys.
  • 'Faith's Melody' intro and performance 1:18:06–1:23:53
Cassie introduces 'Faith's Melody' as an unfinished song they change every time they play, performed with Sunny, and the band plays it live in the studio.
  • Post-song and the David Bush cardboard cutout 1:24:02–1:26:21
The hosts praise the stripped-down performance and issue a two-week ultimatum to David Bush — a guest who refused to appear on the program — or they'll print a cardboard cutout of him and set it in the studio chair.
  • Church disenchantment discussion 1:26:31–1:34:02
A host (speaker-0) recounts a hours-long talk with his cousin, a young children's pastor from Louisiana, about lifelong churchgoers becoming disenchanted — 'the 80 who were the 20' — and the crew diagnoses the drift from working for God to working for the church as institution, illustrated with Paul's 'run to win the race.'
  • Insurance bit and plant-the-seed ministry talk 1:34:02–1:37:56
The tired-ministry talk turns comic ('I can't protect you from God, but I can keep the rain out' — $83/month insurance), then a band member reframes ministry as plant-the-seed work: be any link in the chain, even the link that keeps someone from picking up drugs that night.
  • Promo, the Man Show, and the waffle bakers 1:37:57–1:42:50
Booking info and a promise to post the performances within a day or two, a plug for next week's 'Man Show' on biblical manhood, and a long bit about the Danish 'Waffle Bakers' box mascots arguing over who made the waffles, with Danish/Italian/Russian accent impressions.
  • Tim's wife checklist 1:42:50–1:44:05
Tim (speaker-2) shares the band's long-running joke: since God is picking his wife, the criteria are British, beautiful, rich, and loves Jesus — which the hosts promise to post on the website.
  • Accents, anniversary dinner, and the cinnamon-roll bit 1:44:05–1:47:08
Waffle-impression accents give way to a host's fifth-anniversary story (his wife ordered chili cheese fries, which he hates), a free plug for Buffalo Wild Wings and Holiday Inn cinnamon rolls, and the bit where King David eats a man-sized cinnamon roll before battling Goliath — 'King Solomon says, split the baby, eat the whole cinnamon roll.'
  • Booking info 1:47:08–1:48:42
The band gives booking contact via bookingcindermoffire.com and their website/Facebook/Myspace pages; the hosts note performances will be posted on livefromthepath.org and YouTube within 24–48 hours.
  • Pen parlance and Russian accents 1:48:43–1:51:46
The metal-alloy pen bit returns as a debate over the 'parlance' of Russian pen makers, followed by a run of terrible Russian (and skateboard-taxi) accents.
  • Close and next-week promo 1:51:49–1:53:14
The hosts thank Silversyde, note October shows with Fades Away, tease next week's Man Show ('what the biblical man looks like today'), and sign off — closing with a dead-on impression of 'the British woman.'

I like to sing along with Mike, can you go sing along with it too? Mike, what? He's not listening. I was talking to others. What do you want from me? I don't know. I like to sing along with it. I like it when you don't. Dan, how do you feel about it? I I I vote no. Well, I'm out. That's a Make mic's out. That's a debacle for me. I don't know what to do about it. You were you're listening live from the math on Where? What? Sorry. What did I say? Did you say math? Is that what I said? I could've sworn you said math. No. No. No. What's going on over there? Fettlers? What? Is everything alright? Yeah. Is there trouble? We're happy. We're all good. Okay. I'm just making sure there's not trouble. Mike, you keep an eye on for trouble over there. I'm watching Tim. Okay. Yes. Tim, did you put your shoes back on? No. See? I ought to do something like that. Seriously. We met that guy for I I mean, he couldn't have been here for thirty seconds and his shoes were off. His bare feet were out. Again, as I said, I'm I'm 27 years old and I graduated college.

I don't like pruning feet and I do what I want. Alright. For that school? I'll do as I please. I wish I had. And graduated college. It's a thirteen months two year degree. I'm stuck with this burden of shoes. What a mistake. I also shackled. I will show you the way. Alright. Well, you're listening to Live From The Path on desmoinesamplify.com. We were in constant pursuit for honest faith, pursuit to understand God's fierce grace, and generally on the pursuit for a donkey,

Which wait. Or the half remember remember the half donkey we found? I think it's called the half jack. Remember that thing? That was just a miniature donkey. I think they called it the half jack. Yeah. But you make it sound like they're just selling like the torso part. Which which half? Is the two man coffee? Yeah. Really. If you don't get there in time, does the other guy buy the better half? That's a bummer. Anyway, we That's a that's a bummer to say the least. You'll never guess what I got in the mail. I got actually, that half jack was cute enough that I almost had the had the wife convinced that that's the way to go, that we could pick up on it and it could stay in the house.

I'm I'm pretty sure they're not they're not home dwelling You can you can can what? Okay. You can I hate it when he sees the chat and then questions it and then doesn't fill us in on what happened? Sorry. Sorry. Somebody getting dyslexia from Dan's shirt. I I'm currently stuck looking on the floor. I I I don't know what's going on. Oh, yeah. You sure are, Dan. I have not been looking at the floor for quite some time. I'm surprised that you got I could be getting sick. I'm surprised you got here on time after your Teletubbies audition. I had to sign the contract. That is. We had to wheel and deal a little bit.

Here's what here's what I'm gonna do. Here's what I'm not gonna do. I will not be the triangle. I'm not sure what we're gonna do about that. Dan Dan is like I'm still stuck. He's like permanently frozen looking at the ground in his camera. It stopped working completely. He looks terrible. Hello. Hey. Alright. So in case you wanna make know you guys can't see that but, like, if you wanna make any cracks at Dan's expense, this is this is real quick. This is what he looks like. He's he's permanently doing this. So like, you won't get the joke but if you say it, everyone else will get it. Well, that's unfortunate. Know At least this is my good side. Every every five minutes, I'm gonna go, did you find it? Damn, still not wearing shoes? This is kinda awkward. I don't know. Yeah. I think I know it. Yes, sir. Is it can you can you do something about it? No. I don't I don't know. I plugged it back in. Did that help? You want a real pickle? Okay. Did you do it? Yeah. Think Mike, thank you. Trying to was trying I love track down the headphone thing and that I might have unplugged them. Yeah. I think you did. I I put it back to you though. You have to refresh it? Can you refresh it? Yeah. We're probably in a pickle. Anyway, so hey, where you are in the studio with live from the path on demoniacplay.com. With us in the studio tonight is are the folk from Syndrome of Fire. Hi, everybody. Hello. Hello. There's a lot of folk here.

Yeah. There's a you guys you guys really pan. We like to do that. Okay. Is this everybody? Is this every single person in the band? Yes. You don't have like a like a light guy or something that we're missing? A light guy. No. We are working on it. You need a I am currently unemployed. How much how much does this light guy pay? Last guy left for the Teletubby show. Guy first. So you need a sound guy. That's the most important right now. I I I volunteer for that but obviously, I've broken things already today. Interview is not going well. So a resume would be useless at this point. Right? It's like showing up at the Pizza Hut with McDonald's shirt on, you know. That doesn't work. That's not a good idea. Sound sound guy is pretty important though because that kinda can ruin you. Yes. Oh, yeah. I mean, you can be sounding really good but no one would know it and then that would be bad. Kinda like an audio visual man who runs the cameras. Exactly. The show is ruined.

I quit. I'm glad the show How is coming to could you wear that shirt in public? One? Somebody's got you picked out. Actually, is Hey. That is the least abrasive shirt I've seen him wear in quite a long time. I agree. I was very proud. It's it's solid. It's it's a color. It's kinda It's nothing. Oh oh, so I I probably did. They're making fun of Yeah. Do you really work there? They have a great there's one of the few places that has like a big and tall section where they actually are tall and and I can go there. I think Marshalls is a good one too. Marshalls. Never mind. Think they're they're making fun of Mike's shirt. What? My bad. Cousin cyclones? Yeah. Well, that's right. Yeah. That's good job, Hollywood. That's real clever.

Blue ones. Blue one, I would say, is not fine. It is awesome. I agree. Okay. Is it blue? I thought it was purple. That's purple. I'm gonna say it's purple but I'm just reading the chat. Yeah. No. That's definitely a purple shit. It's just the the camera's frozen. This probably, know Yeah. Could throw off the colors Good job, audio man. I'll work on getting that one out of there. Alright. Well, Sindrum of Fire, thanks for being here tonight. Thank you for having us. Well, I'm we're glad to have you. So why don't you tell us and for the folks listening a little bit about your a little bit about your band. Like where where you where you're from? Well, most of us live in Pella except for Tim over here. He's in Des Moines. That sounds about right. Jamin, you're in Boone. Right? You have to wear shoes in Pella so So they they have to kinda drive about a little over an hour practice time and so it becomes fun.

How often do you practice? Not enough. We we spend too much The sound guy said he quit. We have too many gigs. We spend so much time performing. We don't have as much time to practice but That's a good problem to have. Yeah. I we think so too. Yeah. So we work with it. I think we do pretty well. Heading out on tour. We are heading out on tour. Actually, this Wednesday but then in October, we'll be heading out for the West Coast. So we're really excited about that and Where where are going this this Wednesday? This Wednesday, we're going to Indiana. I don't know if Ryan, you wanna say a little bit about that. It's

Do you know the state of Indiana very well? Yes. He's the spokesman for Indiana. Yeah. We're kinda kinda in the East Coast a little bit but yeah. East Coast is a little planned out more so How'd you how'd you get the how how do you get the the tour set up? Like do you have someone that does it for you or do you just kinda call around or people call you or Yeah. We kinda need a menu too. So we're having interviews soon though. You guys, I tell you what. One. Those are pretty pretty pretty two pretty key essential parts. Yeah. Well, I've been like probably doing most of the gigs and so on most of gigs and stuff. However, like with the West Coast guys are saying that, you know, it's a little bit a bigger deal. We're actually gonna be playing at the Key Club out in Western Hollywood, the B fifty two on the beach. So like some of the biggest clubs in all of Hollywood have basically invited us to come play. Oh that's awesome. Which is kind of a big deal for like a little small band out. That's a huge Yeah. Yeah. That's Yeah. Awesome. Well congratulations. Do

you need an opening act? I spin plates. Perfect. To clarify, he spins plates poorly. Like he's terrible at spinning plates. I don't like to include that in the title. Okay. So you're a comedian? I probably am. Apparently not. Could you stand up? I I can apparently, I'm not funny and I can't spit plates. No wonder I'm unemployed. I can't stand up. I can't do anything. I can take my shoes off, Tim. Do you need a vacation? I think I've got that down. I think I've that down. Man. He would he is pretty good at it. Like, I I mean, he he in five seconds, he had them off. Like, thirty seconds within the presence and all of sudden, he's like, could take my shoes off and I turned to, know, I don't know, scratch myself or whatever and I turned back over and he is he's barefooted. I did the I did the little toe pull the other toe off and slip it up Yeah. Hey, man. Have you seen these shoes where they come like, when you buy them new, they're unlaced but they're elastic so they hold on? Really? These are the stupidest things though. I saw anything? Did I did see the someone has actually developed a prototype of the shoes from Back to the Future that like motorized

laces. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's I want some of those. You have to you man, I was waiting for that jacket that goes, your jacket is now dry. And they don't they don't have it yet. I need the shoes that tell me when they're dry. Daniel, do you know what we're talking about? Have you seen Back to the Future? I have. Don't remember the coat part, the jacket Is the second one? That It's the second one. Right? No. Yeah. I don't know. Don't worry. So he gets he gets thrown in the pond and then his jacket's all wet. That's right. And it goes This little skateboard thingy with what was that? Hoverboard. The hoverboard? Which never came to fruition. They promised me when I was like seven when this movie came out that it was coming in the next couple years this hoverboard's coming out. I have what who promised? There's a guy at the front gate. Yeah. It was Patel. It was coming out. Yeah. They in fact, they had a dude on CNN once like three years later that showed it Yeah. And how it was gonna work and it never caught on.

You I think there's a liability issue there maybe. Was because Or physics. Yeah. It wasn't true. That's why. That's a physics thing. I think they just got the green screen and they like put it on top of a box and then computed the rest of it. I'm like, oh, wow, man. That is awesome. I wanna do that. I was easily fooled. Someday, I'll be the head of this company, I thought. But, yeah. We'll see where that's going, man. I can't even get a job as a sound guy. Oh. Man. Or Mike. For the comedy. Can you just give me a t shirt? That's good enough. If you could just give me a t shirt that says sound guy and then you could stuff me in the back somewhere. I think we can afford that. Alright. I'll probably pay for the shirt because say it. I'll say blame me. I'm the sound guy. So so so do guys have like a big cool touring bus and everything or are you kinda like hitchhiking? That's another thing we're working on. How long has this thing been in the works now? You know, believe We believe Mike can drive. You

know, I've tried what you're doing before. Like when my car's broken down, I just got out of it and I said, Lord, I need a ride somewhere. Yes. And I was standing there for a little while. I think the Lord helps those who help themselves sometimes. You know what saying? Well actually you just mentioned about like all the stuff like with the tour bus and all that type of stuff. Sure. For the thing with us it's been kind of weird. God's been really moving so much with our band. It's about we're talking about four or five months ago is really when we started doing a lot of shows and the amount of time it's we've just expanded like crazy. Yeah. And so he's just really gone out before us and so we're actually going through like a lot of trying to figure out a lot of things with finances and having to buy like trailers and vans and Sure. All that type of stuff right now that normally you get to wait a lot longer to actually have to work on the trailer and just wait for the shows to show up. Yeah. Okay. Look. We bought this trailer. Now we really gotta start booking shows. Boy, that's once again, that's an awesome problem to have. It's good. Man, you just have the Lord be the manager. Things are working out okay. That's right. Yes, sir. I'd love be awesome That'd be awesome to have the Lord be your band manager. Can't you see him negotiating the price? We're

gonna need more than that. I don't wanna tell you what's gonna happen if you don't pay this amount. Do know who you're talking to? And they're they're not paying for soda. We don't. Yeah. Nope. The band does not pay for soda. A little known fact, I have been at soda. I feel very strongly they should be free. Is it Mike, you remember that place remember that that place that we played at that one time and that guy, like, insisted on charging you for soda? Yeah. This place was outrageous. What was the name of that bar? I don't know. So anyway, I can't He he walks like this. Yeah. He he walks around I don't remember the name of the guy but he does He like Smooths around. He swallows around. Yeah. And he wears a a purple on purple sweatpants combo. Oh. I like it. Yeah yeah. So That's kinda bad. So anyway Does he have shoes? To be honest, his physical characteristics

didn't allow you to see if he had shoes on or not. You you with me? Gotcha. Okay. So anyway, I roll up and I say, I have a soda, you know? And so the bartender kinda looks around, pours the soda and gives it to me. He comes over two minutes later and taps me on my shoulder and goes, that'll be a buck 50. I said, for what? He goes, for that soda. I said, oh, I'm I'm with the band. He goes, I know. I thought, okay, now this is the confrontation moment right here. You guys were that bad. Like, the the know. We haven't started yet, you know. We could have been terrible. We don't know. And I said I said, first of all, this is Diet Right. I said, Diet Right out of the fountain, you should be paying me to take from you. Yeah. That is terrible. Yeah. I said, second of all, I'm not paying for that soda. And he goes, well, we didn't negotiate this ahead of time. I said, well, I'm negotiating it now. I'm not paying for Diet Right out of the tap. That's right. It's three quarters full of ice, you know. And so he goes, well, you're gonna have to talk to your your booking guy. I said, no problem. So I called the booking, was Dale. So I called Dale Yeah. And I say, listen, Dale, this dude's trying to charge me for diet right. Said, I will pay regular pop but not diet right out of the fountain. I ain't gonna do it. And so he called back and straightened it all out. But the guy stink eyed me the rest of the night. Oh, He was very uncomfortable. I I bet Dale's pretty pretty good about it. Hey, he he can manage you guys. Oh. You guys don't know Dale. You won't be stuck drinking diet right, I'll tell you that. He'll come right to your aid. That's good. No one will put up with that. There we go. We'll take him. What?

I spent I I've I've re I found a picture of Dan to take his place as he was all frozen up. Oh. There are better pictures, especially when there's not I'm sorry, Dan. That's what you have available. It's a little stretched out. It's you what have on the Internet. You need to do a better job with your Internet presence. I got plenty on Facebook. You know, I've I've I've considered giving up Facebook for a week. I think it's time to take a vacation from it. You just got on it. I know. I I think I'm ready to get off. Like, it creeps me out. Like, like I turned into a town gossip when I get on there. Like I see what other people do, I'm like, hey, did you see what so and so was up to? Yeah. But for some reason they feel the need to tell you what they're doing. Yeah. But Some stuff's kinda like, really? Do you know you said that out loud? Yeah. Yeah. I just don't I think I'm gonna get out of it. Yeah. I say that now and I'll go home tonight before I go to bed at 2AM

and look at it real quick. Did someone comment on me? Yeah. I usually do things to intentionally irritate people. That's kind of my thing. On Facebook. We wanna know what kind of things. Yeah. Yeah. We're kinda waiting. I I I don't know. I don't really I can't remember any of my shirt wasn't enough for you? I wanna wear my shirt. I turned my face away from the microphone so you couldn't hear me. Alright. I used to work in TV news. Okay. Hold on, Tim. This is a good story. No. No. No. No. Okay. Like, you cleaned the floor or No. I did audio. Oh, okay. I'm with you so far. A news station here. Okay. Cool. And there was one the microphone thing is a huge pet peeve. Okay. And I'll I'll try and split it out here.

One dude would hold his hold his microphone, you know, down like By his belly button? Body. Okay. I'm with you. And it was just like, I wanted to I wanted to have a sign on the camera, push a button and remotely light up the camera with an arrow to your mouth. He was at one time reporting from Fort Des Moines during New Year's. Okay. And so he's in a room with screaming people with the mic down here and I just turned off fader. I was like Well, that's it. Can't hear anything. We can't do anything to help you. Yeah. Exactly. Person from channel No. I'm not gonna go. Oh, okay. Everybody knows it was John McLoughlin. No. It definitely was John McLoughlin. You know why? Because we wanted him to John come McLoughlin was a nice guy. He let me play with his high definition camera. Okay. So we know what station it's on now. When we were at a news function. Tim, I'm the I'm the MacGyver of interviews. Check it out. You're some real crew. No. Went we went and saw Anchorman with all the news people in town.

That was fun. Were there some of them that didn't find it funny? Or did they all find No. No. The it opened and it said something like, in the days when a newsroom was controlled by men and Kevin Cooney, you can hear him laugh so hard. Kevin Cooney is a really nice guy too. You know, thought I saw Kevin Cooney at the Jason's Deli one time and I did what everyone does with you think you saw him and you're not sure, I leaned my head back and I went, Kevin Cooney. And he turned around and then I hid because I'm like, I don't don't have anything to say to Kevin Cooney. We we yeah. We thought we saw Adrian Brody today riding a bike. Really? And and we both looked at each other at the same time, like, dude, is that Adrian Brody? And I I helped Adrian Brody pick out an air mattress one time. So I as per se Tim, you've lived more life than most people I've ever met. Do you perhaps own a donkey? I don't. I I want I'm in the market for a 0.5 jack. I did I did I didn't wanna say before when you mentioned that because I thought how how fun it would be to have like a miniature horse Uh-huh. Where you would just ride around the house and if you wanted to get off, you would just put your feet down and it would walk out from under. It's not lazy. It's efficiency. Tim, I would like to invite you to join our show. Don't get me wrong. If this tour thing goes well, you don't ever come back, I totally understand. But

if this all falls through, you're welcome to come back on the show. We have a chair for you. You're gonna have to bring a pad for that miniature horse tool. Yeah. Yeah. They got rules in here. He can't just be going in the corner. We've had guests like that before. You might wanna put those shoes back on. My grandpa's not invited back here. Oh, Oh, no. No. Looks like grandpa doesn't have a computer. Oh, look. Look, he's on right now. Alright. Sorry, grandpa. Was my fault. If you guys if if you wanna try to get him settled in, the the we're gonna we'll have you guys play play for us here. And while you're getting ready, I will I will regale with with stories

such as you are listening to live from the path on demonicamplified.com. We're out of we're out of entertaining stuff. That's it. That's it. That's it.

Yeah. Okay. So let me let me just take a quick look and see what you guys oh, shoot. Dan's camera's not working. Okay. How are doing about that? I love it. I'm excited. Might need to like hold this out of it. There we go. Okay. So Cassie, real quick. It sounds like the first song you're gonna do is Best of Me. Yes. What can you tell us about the song? Is well, it's kind of a sad song.

I don't even know how to actually go into it but it's just it's it's basically when someone loses the best thing in their life and it's taken away and just basically, it's a song of sorrow. It's just sad and I I kinda took it as the the man that I married to, the the man I love. As if I had lost him, it it would you would take the best of me because he's everything to me. So kind of a sad song but it's truly we all go through sorrow and so that's what it's about. I like it. I was That's the best thing that's ever been said on this planet. I know. I know. Apart from what Tim was saying earlier. I'm gonna I'm gonna loop it. I'm just gonna cut it loop and he's gonna he's gonna say, miniature horse if I lost the best of me. Miniature horse if I lost the best of me. That's all we have. We won't we won't have to record another show again. We're good for six months. Alright. If you guys ready? Am I on? You are now. Yes. Can I hear you?

Can hear it. Go ahead. Give it a guess. Okay. I can't breathe. I'll love again. It's not the end of my love high. Eternally,

I know that I should be grateful. It's haunting me. I know it's all in my head.

It's not what you know inside the feelings you can't deny before it's too late. I feel is what I want. What I have is all I need to go on, to go on pushing forward. It's not too late. Don't say goodbye. It's not the end

of our lives. How I'm Yes. World God Network News at seven with Peter Fisher, Mary Magazine, Israel Gazalas,

God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, River Jordan with sports, and weatherman Al Soker. This is WGN News at seven.

Good evening and welcome to WGN News at seven. God told me to say that. Tonight's top story, plastic surgery is on the rise and it's not just for the ugly people anymore. Mary? That's right, Peter. The results from a recent poll indicate that one out of every four Americans will at some point in their lives undergo some sort of cosmetic surgery procedure. This is a dramatic increase from last year's poll, found that one out of every five Americans would consider plastic surgery. The top three reasons people are citing for wanting to go under the knife: God told me to do it, Jesus told me to do it, and the Holy Spirit prompted me to do it. Well, it's like I always say, If the eyes are the windows to the soul, then pass me the Botox. You do always say that, don't you, Peter? I do. Yes. You do. In other news, a potentially dangerous hydrogen gas leak has forced NASA to scrub Saturday's launch of space shuttle Angelica, and it's not clear when it will be able to go up again. NASA halted the countdown shortly after midnight. We measured how that seal fits. We looked at it under a microscope. We looked at it under cryo conditions. We didn't really find anything that would tell us what common cause is, but, obviously, something is going on. God has been critical of the space program as of late, and many believe the hydrogen gas leak was of his doing. Looks like God is sending a message to NASA to stop trying to get closer to him. Ever hear of the Tower Of Babel people? And speaking of Babel, here with our international perspective is his Spanish correspondent, Israel Gazales. Israel?

This just in, God says no more speaking in tongues. I'm sorry, Israel, but you're fired. Please clean out your desk and be out of here by nine. And now with sports, here is WGN's very own River Jordan. River? Thanks, Peter. This weekend, our Fine City's two baseball teams will face off in what has become known as the Christ Town Classic. This rivalry has never been so heated, and with both local baseball teams vying for bragging rights for the rest of the year, the question remains, who wants it more? Lord only knows, but my money is always on God's favorite sports team, the Dallas Cowboys.

Yeah. But they're a football team, Peter, not a baseball team. How do you feel the Cowboys will play a part in this weekend's matchup? Well, with God, all things are possible. True. True. But since we're talking about baseball here, it looks like we're just gonna have to wait and see which one of these two teams God loves more. Yes. Or which team's manager is a better prayer. Thanks for that report, River. Now with weather, here's Al Soaker. Al, is this rain ever going to let up? Sorry, Peter, but today's forecast calls for rain, rain, and more rain. Earlier today, there was a slight break in the storm system when Joe Gadorpel of Westlake Law Enforce Glen actually said a prayer of repentance, but two hours later, he fell.

Hello? You? I know what you were doing. You were surfing eBay. Seriously, eBay? We're trying to do the Lord's work here. Get off the eBay. Turn back to the show. There's nothing good on eBay. Now that's that's a falsity. I bought a lot of stuff on eBay. That's what I'm saying. Like like those inflatable animals you purchased. Exactly. Those were awesome. Yeah. Yeah. Those would come in real handy. Yeah. So far, we've used them quite a bit. I haven't looked. Are you allowed to buy live animals on eBay? I wouldn't I don't think I would Relatable half jack. How'd I know? I don't think I would search the term half jack, to be honest with you.

That's a good point. Oh, Facebook. My bad. Facebook surfing. Alright. So we saw the craziest thing today. Okay. Let's have it. On a what was it? 2235. K. There's a car Yeah. In the driving lane, flat tire. Side. Off to the the car was off to the side. There's a guy laying down in the lane of traffic. Like, trying Like his legs sticking out? Like, no. Parallel parallel to that. Parallel. So Tim I called the highway patrol. Yeah. Tim calls highway patrol and they say, okay, we'll let somebody know but, you know, I was just thinking. I'm

serious. You think that's an actual crime? Is it a crime to lay in the street? Oh, yeah. Should've just called the rendering truck. What is that? Is that what is what is the rendering truck? Don't they pick up the dead animals? Oh, is that is that like on the farm? Have you ever referred to it as the rendering truck? No. It's never just called I don't know. Is that what they called it in the forties or whatever? I wouldn't know, mister Foost. Thanks for asking. What? What?

Why am I ridiculous? I don't know. Did I say so? I don't think so. Well, come on then. Oh, Mike's dumb too. Okay. That sounds about right. Especially hoarse tonight. Hey, that song was excellent. Very cute. Syndrome of fire. Yes, it was. Yeah. Song was excellent. It's one of my favorites. Yeah. I like it. But I mean, it made me a bit melancholy. Oh. But I got over it because I was wanting to use the break and I felt much better. I almost took my shoes off. I didn't wanna lose them though. Tim says it will change your life. It'll I promise. You know, Tim, you could write a book and it's not gonna be very long. We're actually on the tour. We're making a little stop. We're filming an infomercial.

This is gonna be great. Sea salts? Are you one of those guys at the mall that tries to sell me the thing that shines your fingernails? Look, I shined your nail. Yeah, it's so cliche. Yeah, man. Buy pumas. Buy pumas. It's good for you. Like, know it works but I don't have the money. Buy pumas? Stop asking me. I think they're meaning to say pumas. I did not say it wrong, it was pervade wrong to me. Are they selling pumas or they selling shoes? Yeah. Pumice and pumice. You know what? If they sell the puma for like $2, I'd buy it. I'm in. I would just let it loose, say, see a friend. I don't know how they got you in this mall. Alright. We're using the Life From The Path on desmoianamplified.com. We are in the studio with Syndrome of Fire. And why don't you tell me a little bit more well, actually, you can find them, by the way, on syndromeoffire.com. They'll be here pretty shortly. They'll have the the upcoming dates at on both the East and the West Coast. Multicoastal. There's there's National tour. That's right. There's pictures on there. A lot of solid looking pictures on there. You need a marketing guy? Too.

Yeah. Yeah. Actually right before we came in the reason why Tim actually had his shoes off is because we were jumping through mud puddles for a photoshoot. We had the privilege of having an amazing friend that's like just one of the best photographers in The United States that is willing to take our photography for us. That's what we're doing. That sounds like a really good friend. Why don't you jump in these mud puddles? Hey, lie under this truck on the highway. I'll get a I'll get No. This is gonna be a good one. This one will be classic. People will love this one. Why is it why did they put Tim in the back of the rendering truck?

I've never heard it called that. I thought you meant like the septic removal guys. I thought that's what you were saying. No. No? Think Why is what it's called? Okay. Number one Tim, answer it for us. Tim? Look at the like, the roadkill truck. I don't know rendering. I know rendering like they go out and get the animals from the farm. They go out and render things? Well, have stink in Des Moines that just Doesn't the highway helper do both of those things? They might. I don't know. I don't know either. Well, could either help. It depends on when they get there. They can help change the tire work. They can clean up everything. Yeah. That's true. Have you heard like that like the California's got a highway helper and they'll fill up your if you run out of gas? They'll give you like a gallon or two to get to the gas station. Yeah. Boy, that's crap. You know, because I spend most of my day making sure that I don't run out of gas places and this yahoo keeps abusing the system and getting free gas. You know what he does? He takes the one gallon he gave him, he creeps home, he creeps halfway to work the next day. Here comes Johnny Helper. Oh, man. Sorry to see this. He's roaming around with free gas all the time and I I'm paying for it like a sucker. That's right. I don't know. Maybe I should hit you right on the red ring truck. If I hacked half zombie, they'll just pick me up, take me where I wanna go. I'm not dead yet.

I'm okay. Yeah. Here's a nice picture of a rendering truck with a what is that? I'm glad I can't see that. That seems terrible. I'm pretty sure it's a pig. I think that's Body of a hog who died in transit, been hoisted under the back of a rendering company's truck. The ground up used for animal feed. Well, there you go. Mad cow. Here, I'll impress my brother, bovine sponges for him and encephalitis.

That sounds way worse. Mad cow sounds funny. I can't I can't actually give blood for that reason because I was in England for too long during the mad cow thing. What did when were you why were you in England? I was I was two years old. And why were you hanging out with cows? Oh, we weren't. We weren't. But it's that period of time. Like I I like I seriously, I was like I was like, okay, I'm gonna sell my plasma and I'm gonna be able to pay my bills. I go down like a bunch of times and then they they I don't know if you've ever given blood but they ask you all these questions like, obviously, like, okay, no, I've never done this. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, there's like, and they're like and so I'm like, okay. Yeah. No. No. No. Have you been in England for blah blah blah between this period of time?

Dude. You gotta be kidding me. England. Oh, it's alright. And the dollar signs fell away. Exactly. All of sudden, your creditors show up at the blood bank. Yeah. Sorry, Tim. It's not gonna work out. Tough break. That's that's that's the real reason. We'll your shoes. That's how it started. Or we're gonna foreclose on your fourth artery. But I really like that one. Take

the second one. And that really long vein in your legs. Let's hope you don't need a bypass. I'm drummer. A Sell my limbs. Never do business with Wells Fargo. Apparently, they can't be resupplied. I would definitely sell one of my arteries. Is that what those arm loans are? Man, that was genuinely funny. Write that down. Man. Yeah. Alright. So so with these two, these tunes sound great. Do you have them on vinyl yet available for people to purchase?

We have a EP album that has four songs and it's called Static. So yeah. We're playing We can We are not playing any of those They've written much better songs. So if you like Static, that's not how you sell it. Yeah. They've written better songs. They've they've moved on. That was the first episode of So So and now they're moving forward. No. It's an extension Yeah. That they couldn't fit on the first CD. These are extensions of all of it is a masterpiece. It's really subpar but they're making they're doing they're doing much better. No. As soon as I get a sound man. Am I not getting the conversation right? Well, actually too. It's like we could have probably done a full length. We definitely have enough material to do a lot of stuff. However, we chose to actually spend the big bucks and do it right so to actually have a really nice quality recording. So if you've heard it it actually sounds pretty tight and pretty amazing but it costs a lot of money to do that and so we just took the four songs that seemed like people really liked a lot. We did some test tunes and that's what we tagged on it. And is is this a is this Well, that's not the story I got. Would you be That's the better part though. You tell it much better than I do. Yeah. Would you be quiet? What's your You don't wanna hear a story.

EBay. Can you so can you get the can you get the CD on the website? Yeah. You could email us just through the fan club and you can just ask for us to send them a copy and copies are $6. $6. So Does that include shipping? Or do we have to come pick it up? Well you could If you wanna come to our concert it actually works better because that That's gets even even more more free delivery at the concert. With paid admin. You can actually have the you know the full experience there. So but yeah the the website we try to cater our fans as much as possible so anything that we they ask within reason we'll try to do. So Well I can I'm I can probably deliver them to be honest with you. I I don't fill my day with much. Just tell me how many orders you got and I'll I'll take them out. I have a van. Yes, a bicycle. It's

a it's a 16 passenger van. Yeah. Well, that's like an extra It's a big van. Do wanna rent it? Yes. Yes. You guys stick around. Yeah. I promised my wife I wouldn't give the van away and hang around as the sound guy of traveling musicians anymore. But if you weren't like the fourth guys this this month to ask me, we probably would have something. But she's had enough of me. She won't let it happen anymore. I listened to the wife. Yeah. She wants to she don't like the van anyway so Yeah. I'm telling you, this might be on the up and up. We'll talk after the show. Yeah. I like where this is going. Too bad. Now you have to stick around. Actually, you're I just renewed the title. I was gonna let it fall off. It has a fresh title and somewhat legitimate insurance. Yeah. So that's that's the appropriate characterization. Yeah. I said it right.

The it's the Dan Hudson insurance policy. Hey, that's the thing. I guarantee it. The Lord gave us this van. If the Lord wants you to have it, I can't argue with him. Yeah. You know what saying? Tell you what I'm We'll talk about it. I didn't drive it here. Yeah. Oh, man. Yeah. Alright. So let's actually, let's get to some more tunes. So I had Ryan you said there's some interesting background to this to the song, didn't you know? Yeah. There is. Ryan's gonna I'm steal this from you for a second. So I'm sorry about that. I've wasted my this is difficult. The mic just kinda fell. Anyway, but basically

And that's all he said. Actually this song is lot of our songs have to deal with giving us a heart for just a lot of pain and stuff that people go through. We try to kind of build a bridge, make an emotional connection with the lost and stuff through the songs. This particular one came from, I had a really good friend of mine that killed himself several months ago. And he actually blogged a suicide note on Facebook to all of his friends.

And you always hear that somebody killed themselves because they were depressed, but you never really get to get inside the mind of the person and know exactly what was going through their head, know, what could have changed, you know. And just kind of reading through the whole thing the verses are kind of a paraphrase of a suicide note so a lot of the same emotions that were kind of going through his head and to protect his family and stuff I didn't do anything word for word, you But in the chorus it's of resounding

like didn't you know that we loved you and didn't you know that things would never be the same? And it's just kind of a repeat of that and it's because if I had one more thing that I could tell him if he was here today, I would want to tell him, man I really really love you. And he'd probably still be, you know, here with us if more people would have told him that. And so that's kind of how the song came and I actually want to add just another thing to this from up in Minnesota. We were playing with our friends in Fades Away up in Benson, Minnesota. Mhmm. We got done with this concert.

There was a girl that was standing there. She might have been watching tonight and she started asking questions just kind of about this song. And it was incredible because this song really spoke to her because that's what she had been dealing with and she's like, well how did it make me feel when I lost my friend? And because she had tried killing herself and and it was and she was dealing with all that type of stuff. Mhmm. And because of the song, it helped free her. You know, we were able to really speak to her about God and Yeah. And God just started, you know, giving us some words for her and stuff. I mean, she was crying and she was just really able to receive the love of Christ through that. And it's really cool to be able to, I mean, it's one thing to, I mean, a lot of Christian bands, see a lot of people get saved at concerts, but to actually, you know, see in a more immediate like instant change of the life and death situation, that's that's even cooler. Yeah. To some extent because you get to see both at the same time. Yeah. It's silly. It was special. Mhmm. Well and I and I I think, you know, something like that,

service to remind us that God is in all places and God is in all things and there's and God will meet you where you're at and he'll use, you know, a bunch of different ways to do it. And I think that's that's awesome. You know, that I mean, you know, he's God's amazing and then he'll he'll find you and he'll find a way to connect with you and I that's that's awesome. Mhmm. Yeah. Definitely. Yeah. Alright. Are you guys ready? Yep. This is a little rusty. Yeah. Because we haven't practiced it or Should've gone over it but, you know We'll work on it anyway. We're just gonna go with the flow. Do you wanna level check on my guitar real quick? Yeah. Go ahead. You don't need it anymore. I

can hear this enough through here. Is that good? Yep. You good? Alright. Alright. Here we go. You said you were just a boar, and nobody nobody loved you anymore. Trying to get out from the pain. You left this life with nothing to gain.

Didn't you know? Didn't you know that we loved you? Oh. Didn't you know? Didn't you know? Things would never be the same. Didn't you know?

Didn't you know where we loved you? Oh, oh. Didn't you know? Didn't you know? Didn't you know? You built your walls all around,

hoping for someone to tear them down. You were there just trying not to drown. Crying out but without a sound. Didn't you know? Didn't Didn't you know

that we loved you? Didn't you know? Didn't you know? Didn't you know? We saw you. Our hearts. Yeah.

But the pain will still remain at the mention of your name. I was didn't you know you've been listening to Syndrome of Fire on live from the path on Desmoines Amplified

Dot Com. That was awesome. Sweet. I have I don't know how to react. Really liked it, but it it feels wrong to go, woo hoo, sadness. I already did Yes, it could. I already did that. Wow. It's a beautiful song. It unmanly to say that it's a beautiful song? No. I thought so too. I It's awesome. When is the next CD coming out?

These are these are awesome tunes. We're so glad you like them. I really do. So so you guys are like running off to the West Coast and everything. When do you play around here? I'm I'm sure you have a lot but Oh my like honestly, every single weekend. It's like we had recently one weekend where we didn't have anything and I was like, wow, I can be home with my husband and be home on an actual Saturday and like, sleep in and it was like unreal. And then and then they were like, yeah, we gotta start practicing again. I was like, okay. But no, it's it's a blessing though because we have so many opportunities and we just feel that God has just flooded our lives with just so much. Yeah. And the showcase coming up actually. I don't know if you wanna talk about that, Ryan. We'll get to that later. Okay. Just yeah, awesome opportunities. You know, think that's that's actually a really cool feeling when you guys kinda get to do what the Lord's given you the ability to do and you actually kinda get to feel that this is really where the Lord wants me, you know. You spend I mean a lot of people out there, myself included, you know, you kinda spin around and you're like, you know, I don't know, Lord, is this you know, is this is this really what you want from me? You know, is this it? Is this it? Is this it? You know? Right. And man, it's it's it's really cool to find, you know, just exactly,

you know, what the Lord wanted you to do and be like, yeah. Yeah. This is exactly This is working. What it is, you know? When you're getting confirmation obviously from people around you Yeah. You know, that's why you're you're you keep doing more more shows. Yeah. Yeah. Especially if you're gonna keep writing songs like this. You guys are a machine. Oh my goodness. Thank you. You're really man, they're good. I tried to write a song once. Can you sing it for us now please? Trust me, it's not good. That's why we wanna hear it. Actually, I might have that. Honestly though, it's it's really comes to it's really about God. There's some songs that we have a song that we just recently wrote So Sorry and it came together like in a matter of minutes with the whole entire band type thing. And then I mean there's little pieces that we kind of threw together before but then it all just of like well this and this and this would work together. But then

we also have songs that God really makes us wait on him for the words. We have a song called the letter that has an incredible story behind it. That's actually on our EP. It's one of our most popular songs and probably live it is probably the most like popular song. But when it really comes down to it, I mean God has really given us these lyrics. We really feel it's not just for Christians. Actually we've kind of deviated a little bit out of that spectrum. Mhmm. And I mean there's nothing greater than to go you know and play in front of a group of people that don't know anything about God and also the presence of God shows up and they're trying like what in the world's going on? Right. What do I make of this? Yeah. And so it's It's a really good diet right. So so

so that's that I mean God's given us gifts. We've definitely followed through with them and and spent our time. But at the same time, he's really given us the brought us to where we are and he definitely walks ahead of us. Well do you do you feel like that like with the with the type of music that you guys play that that the Lord's kinda giving you an opportunity to break out of the normal, I I'd say, mode that you find most Christ following bands in? Like, you get to cross over to people that may wouldn't have even, you know, given God a nod or a chance or a thought. You know? Like, think they everyone wears robes and sits in a choir and it's you know. You know, so I I mean, have you have you had some instances where you, like, you've really noticed that that maybe somebody apart from that, I know you just told that story earlier, you know, where you really felt like you God might have gotten somebody through you you know just just by giving giving you the talent that you have. I

mean You don't have to do a director. Let me put you on the spot or anything. No it's honestly it's really been ramping up lately. I mean you can just see just like with the people that come and talk to us and just and they'll mention how much this song meant to them or how much that song meant to them or that they absolutely love this. I mean they know the songs like they're so intently listening to it. Mean they're listening to the words also as they're singing like a lot of people you go to the concert and you're there and you're just so much in concert mode and feeling everything shake and and it's just like oh this is awesome but they're actually like oh we love the words to that song what you said at that part you know and it's just that's probably one of the coolest things. These words that God's given us for a lot of these songs are like actually meeting with people. I know for myself I go watch Rock Band and it takes me like 10 times to watch them before I actually grasp half of what they said. Right. And so I think it's just there's something that I was really just wanting for people to hear. And and the music that he's given us, the style of music, it it just kind of it's a very dynamic style and it just kind of reaches and kind of tries to rip your heart out. Yeah. So That's what you need. Yeah. Yeah. Heart ripping, Daniel. I mean, it's it's real it's real life stuff. It's not like you just sat down and tried to write some flowery, you know. Yeah. Whatever. I mean There's purpose in it. Yeah. Exactly. Exactly. There's We're the we're the depressing Christian man? No. No. We just we do relate with a lot of just yeah, I guess, feeling. But no. But I just wanna say that is our hope. That's we wanna build a bridge to people who would never step in a church. I mean, it's it's interesting because we're all united in this one vision that we're not necessarily we don't wanna be that typical. We're not gonna just call ourselves that Christian band. We just we wanna be a band full of people who follow Christ, that it's about who we are. I'd rather people just see us and say there's something different there than us just, you know, we don't wanna just label ourselves, it's not about that. And if they hear a message, then that's the point. But we don't wanna be saying, this this is about God and this is about this, you know, we just we just want God to to use it. Well, that's I mean, and that's that's, you know, probably the most relatable part of it, you know what I'm saying? Like, people dig on real life, you know. I mean, sometimes the, you know, the the the Christian genre or churches in general We just talked about this week, you know, phony service equals phony God. You know, people show up and they see nothing but but but flowery and Right. And and and phoniness and they, you know, if the if the church appears phony,

then a newcomer to the church is gonna go, well, you know, how much can I actually believe that your God is true? You know, I can tell that you're putting on airs here. I can tell that you're putting up Mhmm. You know, roads that aren't here. You know what I'm saying? People Yeah. People look at a a real life and say They either learn to be phony. Right. Or they go a different way like yeah. Right. And and you know what? The real god is way cooler than whatever phony god you think is gonna is gonna pass. You know I'm Whatever dude that you think people wanna see, people wanna see their father and their creator and they don't, you know and good good luck finding a second rate substitute. You know? Yeah. Exactly. Who are gonna find to stand in for the creator of the universe? You know? Yeah. It ain't gonna it ain't gonna be your faith to communion place. Well, I I think that's that tends to be where where maybe as Christ followers, we fail the most is is sometimes we're guilty of putting God in a box. Yeah. It doesn't you know, you you learn you you learn God and then, you know, the way that you you learn God, put him in a box and you just pass that box around and that's that's I think this is the biggest disappointment is is is sometimes it's that vision is perpetrated by the very people who should know better. Yeah. Definitely. Yeah. Well, one of the things with that too is just like being a Christian, mean, we're here to represent Christ to people, you know. And so many Christians we try to be a fake facade of I mean that this is you know who we're supposed to be so that's what we let everybody see. And we're not real with the people themselves and so when we're representing Christ they don't get a real representation of God even through us. Mean not just the power of God moving in the churches. Mean a lot of churches box God up but then just in us. Know it's just like we were talking last night. We want to write songs that if God gives us a song that's just a party song that's just fun,

you know, but without like all the drugs, the sex and all that type of stuff. Because God is a God of fun too, know. Right. We just wanna, I mean we want to write whatever comes out and that's the thing that Christians shy away from. It's just like you have to do this or you have to do that. You know? Yeah. Yeah. You could go out and ride a four wheeler all afternoon and God would like look at you and be like, yeah man, that's awesome. You know, because because he loves watching us you know as his children and stuff. Sure. Brings joy to him. So Well, we've we've reduced our our faith to a series of cliches and and empty actions and and that's all it is, know, really why bother? I mean Well, when I think they're saying that the Lord wants me to have a four wheeler. Pray on it. Hearing that. I'm hearing that. I think you might want You a good job know what, Daniel? Stop throwing a wrench in my pants. Just saying.

If this sound gig doesn't work out for you. I'm gonna talk to God about this. Your wife says, God definitely wants you to get a job. Okay. So it's the Lord, my wife, former man, saying, I'll get a job. I think I'm out. They would have to get a job. So I wanna know how how did you guys all meet? I mean, did you suddenly just become like this really cool band? I mean, there's gotta be You guys should start. Which one? Who wants to start? Start with Ryan. Tell it Ryan. Yeah. Did. Well

well, God started it all. It was it was a very interesting time. A couple years ago I went down IHOP International House of Prayer, not Pancake, always. But I like the Crips. Love I'm out. And that's it. I've been working in youth ministry at the time and I had a previous experience in music ministry and stuff. But I've been you know really focused in music retail and then also in youth ministry. I went down IHOP and I really felt God just telling me just to go this different route. And it was really incredible

and I was really excited and I came back and I was like okay I'm gonna be a full time musician. And so I come home and I told my wife that and she's like okay and then like a week or two later I like that too. She works at Central College in Pella and a week or two later I was like oh I guess I'm just gonna go to Central. I didn't really know why and and because of that it's the coolest story. Was I was leading the column. They it's like this worship thing that they have in the evening. I was the worship leader there one of nights and I asked for a keyboard player And and should I tell the whole story I don't know if your friend is listening. Okay. But it. Right. But basically so they lined up a keyboard player for me and they're like well this person just so you know they're not very good. And I was like okay.

And so I was prepared and they're like and so I'm prepared for this really bad keyboard player to show up and to have to you know really work with him and he shows up. And after the thing I'm just like what in the world were you talking about? Were you just joking with me? And they're like he's not the person that we you know had contacted and that person couldn't make it so they contacted him. Who's the maestro that was sitting out? He he was bound and gagged in that closet. Yeah really was he what does he got five hands? Come on. And so then, it was just basically, he came into play and we we wrote a song just like a couple weeks after that together and it was just like instantaneous and God started moving and we did another band thing and that's when Tim came into the picture. And a different thing. That's a whole long story. Don't want to even get into it. You picked him up at the blood center? Yeah. He got shoes on. Look at the poor homeless guy with those shoes. He he was home. He said, I bet we could write a song about that guy. We'll donate for half jack.

That man is real life. Get him. Get my drumstick. And after our lead singer left, basically we yeah. Yeah also Red Hat too. But we changed her name. We asked Cassie to become our lead singer which was fantastic. She's an amazing singer. And then back to IHOP again just a little while ago. Still the prayer not the pancake? Yep. Still the prayer house. But we did go to Pancake House and get our picture taken by there and set Nice. So

this is the one in Kansas City right? Yep. The one in Kansas City. And we're just kind of like God you know what's really going on? This is not really happening yet. And I was kind of getting irritated because I've stopped everything. I quit working you know just to focus on the band stuff and get everything all set out. Yeah you know what it's like. And so and we were in the prophecy rooms there and and I just started prophesying. One of the things I just started balling, but they were just like, God has you on his calendar. He hasn't forgotten about you and he wants you to know that. And it just really started speaking to me. And then the next thing that they started prophesying over was that the reason why he hasn't done anything is because our expectations were set too low and what he had for us was so much higher and so that just blew my mind and I was like I was coming back and I was like okay whatever and he was there with me and we were like both kind of excited and like literally we come back and the flood gates just opened and it was just like because it's

the coolest life lesson I've ever learned from God is because everything that he wants us to be is always up here and everything that we normally settle for is always down here. And he showed that to me through the band and it was just like nothing was happening and so it like, I'm all the way up here, you better start looking, thinking as big as possible. And as soon as we did he opened the biggest things ever, you know, up for us and things just happened by floops and he just opens all these doors for us, you know, to do different things and it's cool but it's because that's where he wants us And as long as we're trying to live at that level and trying to pursue at that level that's So that's kind of like the band story in a nutshell. I mean kind of where we're going and that's why things have like gone so crazy. And and Jaemon just joined us very very recently. He was another with another band First Born Son which was one that he had actually started and he actually left them to come and join us which was like a really hard step for a guy to do.

And but he's been just a great asset to us. He he was actually subbing for our previous bass player because he couldn't make it because of a surgery after a bunch of shows and after that, yeah, we just kind of all kind of fell in love with each other and just decided, hey, let's keep going. And so that's where we're at now. You know, I keep setting bars of expectation out of you guys like how the song's gonna go and then you beat it. Then you did another one then you beat that one. Then the story how the band came out and you beat that one. I don't think I can ask you any more questions. You know, I all I could think about during your story was, well, what the conversation in the car on the way back from the IHOP was. Ask Tim if he's married. This sounds this sounds like but can can you see this conversation, you get done with the IHOP and you say, the Lord has great things for us. Do we need a van? I don't know. Don't worry about it. Do we need a trailer? I'm not sure. Don't worry about it. The Lord says, we got big big stuff coming. Do we need a manager? Do we get a soundboard? I don't think so. Everything's fine. It'll all just work out. And it and it is. Yeah. I thought you're gonna that'd be a sweet way to, like, sneak in a little bit of Michael Jackson. Tim, you're back off the show. Sorry. You had your chance. I'm sorry. What was that an impression of? Apparently Beat it. The Beat it. Like, set the bar and then beat it.

Why do you talk like James Carville? Crazy. Oh, no. I I I feel like when he said that though, I I have to to mention, I was in a band that was made fun of a comedian, David Cross. Uh-huh. And it was the previous band that I was in and he was making fun of the name and everything but it was great. He's like, but by far the worst bad name I have ever heard of. And then the name and then he's like, those guys break all the rules. And then they make their own rules. And then they break those rules. Alright. You're back on the show, Tim.

Yeah. It's you, buddy. You want me to do it? No. I think you should. It's not I gotta wait for it. How long does it take? Let's go. Oh, this is solid. Okay, Tim. You are the show. Me and Dan and Ben are leaving. You should see me do thriller. I you know, I saw that you seen that those videos where people do thriller for like their wedding or something? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So I decided I'm gonna do this by myself, like,

at the next wedding I'm at. So so I I I I get it to on the YouTube and I start practicing by myself. And about twenty minutes in, I go, this is ridiculous. And I gave up on it completely. Oh, man. First of all, I can't do it. I'm like the whitest guy there. And second of all, it's it's it's already been done. I had to give it up. I And tried to come up with other stuff like I was gonna learn some kind of dance to Scooby Doo or something. I just I gave up the whole thing. It was a bad idea to start with, you know. Yeah. Alright. Alright. Speaking of the whitest guy there. This is solid. My my dad and I went to California when I was in high school and found out Damon Wayans was gonna be performing at the LA Improv. Okay. And we're like, hey, yeah, you know, Damon Wayans, he's got some good movies, you know. So we go, we found out that if you eat at the restaurant that they have, you get priority seating. And so

we go and we have our food and then we go in and we're we're like in the front center table. My dad and I are just having a fun conversation and then we get out there and the emcee walks out and he goes, welcome to black comedy night. But it was great. It was so good. Damon like, we're like Damon Williams, like, talking to us from the stage. Was really cool. Was like Like, did he say, what happened? Did you fellas make a wrong turn? No. Don't know. Don't know. Bette Midler's in the other in the other theater. Yeah. Oh, no. Bette Midler. Bam. Where did that come from? I don't know. That's yeah. Wouldn't have chose that. That would have been the first one that came to my mind. What do you mean? That's

for you right there. Is this man in the mirror? No. It's wind beneath my wings. Wait. Here we go. This couldn't have gotten any worse. Not only did the original play but Ben added his own his own vocal stylings. I was asked to purchase purchase that song for for an event. It's like to play at an event. And so I bought it on iTunes and it

most was appropriate pop up ever and it said, are you sure you want to purchase it when you eat my wings? Do you know what you're doing? I literally did a screen print of that. Like, this is this belongs in the history. Actually, that's that's the problem nowadays with the way that these all these programs track you. Because if you go in there and buy Wind Beneath My Wings, it doesn't know that you're buying it just for a single time. And so next time you come in, it's like Suggestion. Suggestion is Celine Dion. Tim, would you like Celine Dion? See that you have poor music tapes. Know, some selections that we have chosen. I'm sorry. Can I interest you in Tito Puente's greatest hits?

No. Oh, Tito. Oh, poor Tito. I didn't mean that. Is he dead? He's no. He's he might be dead. Either that or he's in his apartment listening to the radio going, oh, no. And then he turns sun and goes, they don't know music like I know music. Every whether he's disappointed, happy, or otherwise, he every time he he goes, oh, and then switch to the drum. Like the juggler. Whoop. Okay. You lost the cat. No. You never you ever been to the Adventureland and seen the juggler that got there? Like when the show starts going poorly, he's like whipping bowling balls around or whatever and then if no one starts reacting, he just goes, whoop. And then you go, yeah. It's

like the instant exciter, like a cattle prod or something, you know. Except for for people. Yeah. People prod. Yeah. But that's what guy was thinking when he was in the road. He got a flat tire and he got out his car and he's laid down. I did I didn't see one of the the games on the main street or whatever. Mhmm. And this I don't really spend my money on those kind of things. But I had to I had to go I like where the story's So far you've bought and bought went beneath my wings and play games with the evangelist. No. This this they had, like, you know, their their wearers and the guy was like, come see the largest number two pencil in the world. Stuck gorillas and colors nature never intended. A hamburger with arms and eyes. And I was like, you know what, sir? I'm not gonna play your game, but I appreciate your salesmanship. Oh, nice. I'd like to see that pencil. I'm

interested in that grilling. You see those you see those pens that write with metal instead of with graphite? Like the it's it's a combo between a pencil and a pen but it writes with actual metal alloy so it doesn't smudge. Like, it looks like a pencil but it doesn't smudge like a pen and it writes forever. You've yeah. You're with me. Yeah. They want $30 for this amalgamate but I tell you what, this seems like the way to go. Yeah. I agree. It's amazing. Who wants to buy one? Dan, buy one and and let us check it out. And make that too. Let me check it out on eBay. Okay. What would it be called? Metal pin. Metal pin. Start there. Really? So Do you have the music forever?

Well, don't maybe not forever. I might have oversold it. Okay. Heavy metal Lutrol drug rep pen. Oh, that's that's different. This seems like a terrible Who's selling pens on eBay? That better be something fierce for you. There's a lot of pens on here. Alloy Writer. Yeah. Who's Wait a minute. Alloy? Who's going under the name Ben fifty one fifty? Hey, hey, if you guys wanna call on the show, you can. The the number is 327-1007. I totally forgot. I keep forgetting that we offer phone calls. You can advise. You can dial us in. If if anybody has a good Bette Midler impression, call in with that would be awesome. This is the Pentel Energel Alloy Liquid Gel Roller Pen. Yeah. Don't know, Daniel. For $7.97. No. That's not the right one. This thing should be in the league of $30. Well, maybe it will be in fourteen days. But right now, if you bid on it. No. This is not the right one. Is there a reserve?

Doesn't say. Okay. Yeah. This doesn't seem legitimate. While Dan's looking that up, let me remind you that you're listening to Life in the Past. Can you find me a Hamburglar costume while you're on there? Halloween's coming open. Don't wanna be empty handed. Hi, Ben. From certainty. I was making sure it wasn't someone absconded with my name. Is it Ben Hennessy? Yeah. Hey, Ben. Hey, Ben. Do you have a metal alloy rider? Or you just know a lot about it?

Got a Hamburglar Christmas ornament. No. I can't wear that. I could've told you that had you not even said it. Somebody said, who owns a Big Mac belt buckle? Said, that guy right there. There's no doubt in my mind. Just a hand puppet. He won it from a visual aid. Just so I don't forget. I I always have Tim tell the story to people that, you know, after we talk to him for a walk because it's always funny. But he has a story about when he opened a show one time. And it's the funniest story I've ever heard as a band person in my whole entire life. So, like, give him thirty seconds to tell you guys this. But, hey, just to throw it out there, he's really set you up. This better be a fantastic story. And I'm gonna frown before it even starts. You better beat this. You've raised the bar. Well, let me let me start off with the with something new. I like to say this is a different one, but I was in a different band and we played at the fair years ago. And we I like to say that we played before the Dixie Chicks. Was It on the same stage but it was three hours before the Dixie Chicks. Yeah. Yeah. I think I know which one we're talking about here though. I was in a band that actually opened for a karaoke set one time.

Oh, man. That didn't turn out well, did it? No. And and we we there I was playing drums in the corner of this bar or somewhere and, like, there was just the the the screen for the lyrics was just right next to my face just blew the whole time. I was like, I'm shutting that off. People came over and were like having a conversation next to me, do we plug this in? But the best part was That's awesome. A CD started playing through the sound system at the same time that they were playing. And I was like, someone stopped the CD. Like, there's two rhythms going on. I don't know if it's One of them is right. I don't know if it's me.

Yeah. One cared, though. They were not there to see us. Two things. First of all, I'm amazing. Dig my double rhythm. Second of all, I'm gonna give it up here in a second so we can Drum solo. Dig When I'm done with this, I'll be singing Wind Beneath My Wings. I did. At all times, can play Money For Nothing by Tire Straight without doing a thing. I was just confused. Don't know. Take it. So you were a band. Right? What was your We played we played in a blues band for a while. Okay. Yeah. Not of anything notable. You wouldn't have heard of us or experienced us for any reason. Where where'd you guys play? Des Moines. We played at, like, the blues festivals and stuff and Alright. And, you know yeah. At the Grand and that kind of stuff. Yeah. The Grand's closing down. You guys pick blues Really? Yeah. Yeah. Blues on the about that? It's going on then. Why is it going on, bud? Just got up Yeah. Just not enough. You guys quit playing there. That's probably it too. They miss you. Get back You know what? That's Bar Number two that wouldn't give me free soda.

Yeah. Really? That is why we stopped playing there. Little known story. We had the Tuesday night show every Tuesday night at the Blues on Grand. And then one night, he goes, no more free pop. I said, well, that's the end of our Tuesday night stint. The pop's, like, cheap. Yeah. I put it on there and get, like, a $12 bottle of water and I'm, really? I mean What instrument? Piano. Yeah. Oh, yeah. That's right. Yeah. Piano. Cool. He's got the same keyboard I have. Yeah. Yeah. Actually, I I picked that keyboard out everywhere. My wife gets upset with me because, like, every time I saw Stevie Wonder was on Americanada once, he was Motifa. He was on the Motifa. Everybody everybody that plays at the Grammys or or any type of musical festival, this is the boy right here. Yeah. He's a solid investment. My mine's just falling apart. Mine's falling apart. It's like there's I don't know. There's 30 screws in a total. He's probably got 10 Yeah. I Left. I used my middle c key for the upper c key because it was broken. So now the tall one's broken. He's I I've seen him there were there were a number of different shows where I saw him, like, it's time for a solo and and I see the elbow go up and come back down. And then the the shoe come off and come back down. I read Tim's book and I thought, there's no better time than to start now. Off with the shoe, piano solo. One time I thought he was walking away from the show during a solo and really he was just 15 feet back and had his shoe off and was throwing it at the piano. I hacks out Jim Duggan to turnbuckle when I came back at it. Next song I do, I'll put It's gonna be amazing. Did they hey. Ben fifty one fifty, did they charge you for soda, or were you not drinking soda? Did Hasty place the Blue Zoo brand?

Yeah. He said so. Well, I don't know. I'm not saying I don't believe him. What do guys what do you you guys got another tune on the docket? Yep. Fates Melody? You got that on the docket? Yep. Fates Melody. Actually, Let's just do it. You wanna do it? I like this. Yeah. Let's let's do it. What what's the is everybody in on this one? Yeah. Just me and Sunny. Okay. So it's kind of like an unfinished song. We change it every time we do it. We Yeah. We change it every time. It's just one of those songs. One of these days, we're gonna decide on how we're gonna do it but we kinda like to go with the flow sometimes. Alright. We do that a lot in worship, actually. Did you have that on for me? What was the

board thingy? I think Alright. If everybody's ready. You've been listening to Syndrome of Fire on the Life and the Path on demoinamplified.com. You can find them at syndromeoffire.com. They're also on Facebook and Myspace. If you like their EP, which is a a refined masterpiece Mhmm. As I've been told,

you could email the band for six bones. You can work out shipping. They're willing to to work with you. It's better if you just go to the show and pick one up there. What do then why don't you give me the eyebrows? Or or ask Mike to deliver. Oh, yeah. Mike will deliver. Our news down guy slash delivery. Yeah. That's right. Right. Slush Drive. He's hired. He's got one he's got one of them. Mike, you wanna turn that towards him just a little just a hair. Yeah. Alright. You guys ready? Very good. Alright. So this is Syndrome of Fire, Faith's Melody on Life From The Path.

Very nice. Awesome. Very very nice. Now, was that one on the that one on the new up up and coming up and coming CD? Maybe. If we finish it. Hey. Hey. You better stick around this website and watch because it's a coming. And you'll be you'll be wild when it comes out. One thing though, these are very very stripped down versions of what we normally do. So it's like I meant to I meant to say that. It's probably worth going out to the website and checking out. There's a there's a live performance that's out on the website and there's some song clips out there. That I think this definitely gives you an idea of the of the type of music, although the instrumentation, it it sounds like Quite a bit. Heavy rock. Yeah. Yeah. So just as enjoyable. That's about it. Did anyone call? Not learning the tune. They were supposed to be listening. Voice check this out. The voicing on keys and her voice together is awesome. Right.

Hate that. That's for me. That's that's how I said that. Thank you. Was unpaid solicitation. We'll take it. Awesome. I didn't really say that. I don't know. I like to don't how many are, like, watching Yeah. Yeah. It's a million.

Give or take. It's it's not a we'll just say it's not enough quite to get our buddy on yet. Yeah. It's not enough to get our buddy David Bush on. You come on. He's got two weeks. Two weeks before I make a standout cardboard cutout of him. Yes. And I put him in front of the camera. Most most of the views come come later because, you know, it's all recorded and everything. So. You hear that, David? This ain't over. Go ahead, k. So David Bush has two weeks to be on this program or I'm gonna print out a cardboard cutter out of him, set him in that chair right there and speak on half. And we'll take pictures. And we'll take multiple pictures. He's and his voice is gonna sound something like this. It'll be very unfortunate for him. He refused to come on the program. Outright refused. That's just rude. Do

you know what the cool part was? It was face to face. It wasn't even through email. Wasn't it a casual, like, just ignoring it. It was a no. No. I won't go on. Not a hesitant. I say, you should come on the show. Not a, you know, I'd really like to. It was a no. Heard of you guys. I saw that email. No. I will not. Yeah. So that was rejection at its finest. It's been since high school since I've been rejected so forcefully. And that was by my wife. I don't know what happened. I promised her I'd have a job and it looked like they started school so It didn't work out so well. This is what we agreed to. You

know, it was actually kind of funny because I was talking to our our cousin was in town this week and he's a children's pastor in Monroe, is it? Monroe, Alabama? Yeah. Think so. Yeah. Anyway, he just he got his motorcycle license. So he goes toot he went tooting around town and he stopped by Des Moines and From Alabama? Yeah. From Alabama. He well, he's got family. I think he's in Louisiana. Louisiana. What did I say wrong? Monroe, Louisiana. I was just that's just not tooting around town. That's like that's a pretty big drive. Yeah. Did I under misunderstand that? He's like, in Louisiana, you got his motorcycle license. I guess I'll drive to Iowa. Are you trying to hijack my story? No. No. I'm just trying to figure it out. Is that what you said? Did I hear you correctly? Tooting. Okay. He was tooting. He was tooting around. That's what you do on a motorcycle. And nobody knew. That's that's why they're so loud. Make all that noise. You see him driving and then you see him smiling and go, that guy must really like his bike.

Moof. Moof. He's just getting away with it. There's no one to blame but this guy. So anyway, he stopped by and and I was talking to him for a couple hours and we started talking about like like he's a he's a fairly young cat, like he just kinda he just got out of you know, what is it, seminary? Chill. Oh. Yeah. He just got out of prison, got his motorcycle license immediately. Yes. And left the state So of but he's a he's a children's pastor and and he goes to a bigger church. And he was kinda thinking along the same lines that we've kinda been talking about recently of of of people who've who've kinda grown up in church or been going to church for a long period of time and have have seemed to have just become disenchanted. Mhmm. You know what I'm saying? Like totally disenchanted with with the whole thing. Like they've become the 80 who were the 20. You know? And so,

man, we talked for I mean, probably a couple hours about this, you know, like like and I'm I'm actually just kinda throwing it out there. It's like, what's what's to be done? You know? Like like, what's to be done? Have we breeded these fellows who've been go you know, have who have grown up in the church and and, you know, they've just become so disenchanted with the way that it that it operates or the or or, you know, like, they're just I don't know. They're just just so bogged down and whatever. Like, they've lost all go. You know? Somewhere along the line, they they've they've lost focus that instead of working for God or for Jesus, you know, they they're they're working for the church. And that's that's the problem. And that's probably that's probably the big It's the thought of I'm working for the church as an institution as opposed to God is my father. Exactly. Right. We need to we need to further this building, not we need to further our body of believers Yeah. Aka the church, aka Christ's bride. You know? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I could definitely see that. I don't know, like That's my thought. Well, and it was it was it wasn't funny, but like like he he noticed Your life's in ruins. Like like like we it wasn't it was sketchy, we'll put it that way. But I I don't know. It was it was it was it was kind of amazing to hear the exact same stories and the exact same thing. Like I had talked to, you know, three three gentlemen, you know, in their fifties, you know, that I've known for a long time, you know, and known to to who've grown up with Christ, you know. Like like the these are the fellows I looked up to when I was little, you know. And and man, they just seemed so bogged down. Like the spirit of God is just a burden on them and they, you know, they just can't carry it anymore. It's like, you know, like I I don't wanna do this, I don't wanna do that. It's like, man. You know, I I just and maybe it's because I'm I'm I'm, you know, I'm fairly young, you know. We'll get you. We it'll Just wait about fifteen years. Bog you down. We need you to do communing again. I can't. I can't. You will. We're we're refelting the bottom of the communion tray. You can chip in We're gonna need a we're gonna have a men's breakfast.

And everyone's gonna come in on Saturday, and that's what we're gonna do. Like, I I don't know. Like, it just it seemed it seemed really sad because, like, looking at your future self going, is this what's gonna happen to me? You know, is this gonna be me in twenty years if, you know, if I if I continue headlong in in in the God's grace and God's love, I wanna be like a a a shell of of for God of what I used to be, you know? Like, how do we hedge this off, you know? Yeah. I mean, like, is the church completely like like diluting these fellas that they just don't wanna do anything anymore? I don't know. Yeah. I think, you know, it's a it's a combination. Like I say, their focus gets off focus. They get disappointed. They have high expectations for whatever it was. You know. I painted the church building and everybody's gonna gonna slap me on the back and, you know, say I'm great and and no one noticed, you know, and then they're disappointed or, you know, a little it's it's it's pride and and getting our focus off of God. I think it's pretty simple. I kinda oversimplify everything but Well, and I think the the focus off of God is is is probably the big thing because like, that's how you get ingratiated with a bunch of other stuff going on is you start looking at that other stuff Right. For for redemption, for worth when when your worth was, you know, is provided to you by God because you're a child of God. And I think, you know, and and and that's it's a tough thing to hold on to for a long period of time. And I think I think I get that. But, I mean, when you lose that focus completely, the world is going to disappoint you. You know that. You should know enough to know that. And if you put your faith in the world as being the one that is going to continue to gratify you or provide substance in your life and you're not looking that direction, yeah, that's where you're gonna end up and it shouldn't be a surprise. And, you know, and when when Paul tries to hedge his often, he's like, you know, run it to win the race and sometimes we just we're not even we're, like, not even handing out water to other people that are running. We're just watching it. And you know what? No one likes to watch running. No. That is true. They showed the marathon on the Olympics. I could I it was three hours of the running and I thought, that's there he goes. Yep, then. You know? Could put a tracking on him so I could at least you know, I'd rather watch the digital

like circle of him going around the corner. Like the those old Nintendo games where they show your car in the right hand side Yeah. And it's like going around the track. Where am I compared to everybody else? Nothing nothing like, you know, a and 50 sweaty dudes hauling around the city that I wanna see on camera. And then every once in a while, they stop and one guy just dumps the stuff on his head and keeps rolling. And none of them look very happy. No. They're upset. They're like uncomfortable and like, you're doing that on purpose. Yeah. Yeah. You're running. Marathon running seems like a form of servitude to me. Yeah. Yeah. Like, you know what, dude? We're you're have to we're gonna take half your clothes and we're gonna give you water every three or four miles and get going. And you're gonna have blisters. Yeah. And then you gotta do it like, you know, you gotta practice it before you can't just show up and bomb 20 miles, you know? Yeah. Like you gotta run like 18 or whatever a couple weeks before to make sure you can even finish this thing. That's not totally worth it. Anyway, but that but that and it's it's it's what stuck out for me when I when, you know, we just start to sit on the sidelines. I mean, we're worried against that. That's that's not what you're supposed to be doing. I mean, it's you know, you don't just don't just be a part of the race. Run to win. And some of that has to do with, you know, you gotta you gotta get off your butt and keep going. Part of the race is that it it it doesn't end until, you know, god ends it. And if it's not over, you should still be Well, once again, it's it's like that that that double edged benefit that we always talked about. You know that that the Lord set up rules not only for his glory but for your benefit. And that's why the Lord wants you off your keester and out getting some stuff done because you will end up a shell of what you could have been for God, you know? Right. And not only is that not serving his kingdom how how you how you could be, is man, you're missing out. What a bum life, you know? Yeah. I mean, what what what better feeling at the end of the day that that you've done what your father has asked you to do and and you know, you're moving. You're you're getting something So I don't know. That's what I like about what what I've heard from you guys guys tonight is, you know, you're not like just trying to build the band. You you know, you I I'm sensing anyway that you really wanna honor God in what you're doing. And you keep that going, you know, twenty years now, it's gonna be just as fresh as it is now. You know, you're not gonna you might get tired. You're gonna have, you know, times where you hit a wall or something but you keep it for God and and Yeah. You can't lose. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, lot of people got, you know, I'm in professional ministry. I've been doing it for twenty

six years. And a lot of people can't make it five because they're doing it for the wrong reason. You know, and they get all discouraged and they sell insurance. And I got offered a selling insurance job today, Daniel. Thanks a lot. Well, I'm just saying, you go through any insurance company, half of them are old preachers. Oh, I went to bible college. I can't protect you from God, but I can keep the rain out. And there's nothing wrong with that. It's priceless. But I but I know what he's up to and I can hedge against it for $83 a month. I will pray for you for a bonus. Rain and hail, that's in his arsenal. I can help.

But somewhere along the line that even even people who are doing it full time, you know, whether it's musically or preaching, whatever it is, youth, whatever, they they lose track. They they they're doing it for themselves. They're doing it to build this empire. They're doing it I'm I'm building this thing. It's like, you're what? Whatever. You're irrelevant. It's God's story. It's his church. It's his bride. It's his thing. You're just along for the ride. You're lucky you're a static character in in the I'm like, yeah. Can preach today. It's like, wow. Because God could take me home any second, you know. And Either way. I'm ready. Yes. I got a message prepared. If it's terrible, take me now. Exactly. Whatever you wanna do. And I don't care if anybody liked it. You know, the whole pat on the back thing is like Yeah. If I was doing it to get pats on the back, then that's for the wrong reason too. Which is gotta be hard for you guys because you're, you know, in in, you know, music and Yeah. Entertainment. Beat off the crowd and you know and and That's true. I could see that as being a tough dichotomy every once You in like if people really like the show, you're like, I hope you're or like, I'm glad you like the music but did you get the did you get the god stuff too? You know? He's what's keeping us rolling, you know? Well, but I mean, that that's that's part of the the the benefit of an atmosphere like this is that you it's not like you play a show and then you have to take a poll on who accepted Jesus, you know? Right. It's, you know, it's it's the that's part of the reality of it is that, you know, there are people that are just kinda smacked with it and then they're then they're they're good going forward. And there's folks where it has to it works into them and God and God works that way. Sometimes he smacks you, sometimes he just starts sending you post, you know. It's a it's a it's a plant the seed operation, you know. Like, we don't really care what link that we are in the chain, you know, if we're the last link and we see like tons of people come to Christ or if we're that link that somebody goes home and they just they were inspired by our music, they decide not to pick up the drugs or their alcohol that night and you know or decide not to like yell out their wife that night or whatever it might be. It's just like that it just it provides them with some type of hope. Because that's the biggest thing that I think that the church like you guys are talking about the church and just that there's a lack of hope there because like so many Christians are out there and they're doing things because they're supposed to do them and then you get burn out because you're supposed to do this for God, you're supposed to do this for God. But if you're in a love relationship, if you're passionate about being in this, you know, love, you know, the bridegroom relationship with God, you know,

mean, his bridegroom were the bride. Mean, if you're in that passionate love relationship, it's not work. Know, it's easy because you're doing it out of the passion side but if you're doing it just because I gotta do this because, you know, God told me I'm supposed to reach people and stuff and I go keep fighting through it it doesn't come naturally. If you just sit back and you just let God do everything for you. I mean that's basically what we're doing as a band. It's just like we're sitting back and like okay God you want us to do this? We're going work our butts off to do whatever you want us to do but at the same time you gotta do it. Right. Because it's cool because you don't have to really work that hard because he's doing everything for you and you're just watching it happen. Yeah. And it's just amazing that way. Yeah the power is through him. Yeah. It's always been through him. Yeah. That's what we might forget. That's how you get a that's how you get a tour set up with no bus or sound man or manager. Manager. And you say, God take it. He says, okay. What's good? Oh, don't even have half a donkey. We'll take the good or the back half. It don't matter.

We we just need a donkey. You must listen to life from the path on devoidamplified.com. We are in the studio with Syndrome of Fire. They got a ton going on. They got a little bit of some dates on the East Coast and then some dates on the West Coast. And they it sounds like there's a there's an album in the works that we hope to see sometime soon. Year? In a year? Spring. Spring? Springish? Spring. Are you gonna be able to see these That's labels. Are you gonna be able to see the performance from this show on the net? Yeah. So the so we'll post the the the performances from tonight from them. They will be on on our website which is livefromthepath.org. They'll also be on our YouTube channel. It should be up within a day maybe. Twenty four, forty eight hours. We'll see. I might do it tonight. When I get home, we'll see. Cool. So we'll get that stuff up. And then we'll we'll actually post the whole show. That'll be on the front page of Life From The Path. You can catch the interviews and all that stuff. So and that yeah. Probably about a day on that too. You know, Ben, what if I wanted to sign up for like a podcast or something?

I'm glad that you asked. Great question. Daryl. Let me put it to you this way. The podcast is available also on the front of the website. There's a get the podcast button for those of you that are literary. That if if you can't read well, there's it's purple. It's a purple icon. That's how I ended up with Wind Beneath My Wings by Bette Midler. This somebody switched the icon. No. No. It's a purple icon that looks like he's emanating odor. Okay. I'm I'm with you. He's at the top. That's that's audio that's the audio podcast. Took the video one down. It just takes too long to get it. It's a it's a two hour show. Nobody wants it. No. No one needs to see that business. No. So you can watch it on the further website, but you can't get it at home and pour over Dan's shirts with it. That's sad. Hold on. Let me put frozen Dan back up there. There he is. Boy, I'm excited about this deal. I'm just gonna put him out there and leave him there for a minute. So That's good. Anyway, you can also also also on the website,

you can can cite it for the mailing list, which I My back's getting kinda sore right I understand. Daniel, will you just pick it up already? What is down there? I can't find it. You can also sign it for the mailing list. I will I'll send you a show synopsis about midway through the week as long as well as with what's coming up with the show. And that reminds me, next week, The Man The Man Show is on for next week. Alright. Let's do it. We're we're gonna be talking about the modern man. Should I wear a shirt? Please. I beg of you. Yeah. I'm gonna yeah. Mess that you wear. We're talking about meeting people where they're at. Yes. No one's not at you wearing your shirt. How do we know? I'm sure of it. Maybe the camera will be broken next week and it won't be an issue. So so yeah. We're gonna talk about we're gonna talk about what the modern godly man's gonna look like. Yeah. What he should look like. What is lost? Yeah. Well, not you don't have to overdo it. I'm a grunt. You don't have to wear like junkyard dog chains or whatever to have to come in here.

I don't yeah. Don't get all sweaty before you come in here just to add to the effect. I don't need any of Like those two Russian weight lifters. Ew. What's that? Did I see that from? That's nothing. The waffle makers? Yeah, baby. No. I'm thinking of those guys. We used to we used to buy these hoity toity waffles at the at the Walmart. They don't sell them there anymore, but they had the waffle bakers at the top. They bought you bought you you bought a grade waffles from the Walmart? Yeah. They were Where do they keep them from? They were they were like Or the popcorn machine. They were like organic flaxseed waffles. Okay. I'm with you. The type of stuff that ends up in my place. Anyway, so they were called the the waffle bakers. And so, like, I I imagine that when you look at the front, they look like they're they look like they're having an argument as to who made the waffles. So, like, there's a guy on his side, he's like, you making the waffles? He goes, no. You making the waffles. No. You making the waffles. And the problem is is, like, it's a static picture, they could argue for these. So eventually, I just have to put them back in the cold. I say, settle down, boys. You chill out for a minute. You figure it out. You come back to me. You make a thing waffle. You know you'll make it a lot. Here's what's I'm gonna find these waffles and it ain't gonna look nothing like that. They're just gonna be Ben drinking a chocolate milk looking at these waffles going, you don't be great If they were arguing with each other about who made the waffles. No. It's it's they're they're called the waffle bakers except I think it's spelled with two k's. They're they're Danish. Are their eyebrows at odds or, like, do they are they furrowed? Or No. They're just slightly I mean, they're it's a jovial. Like, they're not in trouble yet. Like, they don't owe the waffles to anybody quite yet. Oh, so it's just a joke between the two? No. They no. They no one has really made the waffles, but they're like an hour out. So, like, if they figure out who didn't make them, they could still reconcile it and make them. You make it the waffle? No. You make it a waffle. I don't make it the waffle. What? Are they Italian? Yeah. Not really. I think they're actually Danish, but I I I don't They're they're Europe in the at all. Tim, do you know a Danish accent of any kind?

No. I don't do impressions very well. My Korean guy sounds just like the Italian guy and just like the Britishman. I don't do very good impressions. In fact, I'm a tear I'm terrible with impressions. What should I have said? Not Britishman. What do I say? No. You said it right. An Englishman? Englishman. This is the Tim knows British. Inside. You make it a waffle. Okay. Whatever. I'm single and we it's kind of a long running band joke and I'm kinda like, well, if God's gonna pick my wife, you know. It's a might as well, you know, go for it. There's kind of a list of things that would be appreciated.

Give it in a way. Give me the radio appropriate characters. No. No. No. They're all they're all radio appropriate. Okay. I mean, basically, I I like England and I find the accent very attractive so I'm, you know, a British I like the coitus of which you're approaching this. A a British a rich beautiful British wife who loves Jesus. These things are all possible. I know. It's it's like, dude, you've gotta pick my wife. I'm going I was I was Hold on. I'm put these on the website. Rich.

British British and beautiful. English. You've gotta get them young before the teeth are gone though. You know what mean? Daniel, we're trying to get syndicated in Britain. Quiet. Oh, hamburgers ruining him. Loves Jesus. Yeah. Next. Yeah. Oh, we got beautiful, rich. English. Loves Jesus. Yeah. Anything else? That's it? Most of it. Those seems like pretty easy qualifications. Yeah. Know. I'll put I'm definitely I'm putting it on the website. I'll make a do you have any pictures of you looking forlorn? I need a lady. That's what I'm looking for. You look like you may have made the waffles? I made these

Then they get upset. Who told him to make the waffles? I said, no one makes waffles but me. I'm a businessman. I'm making these waffles. It's just those waffles. I was going to offer my rich beautiful British daughter to him, but no longer. See, now that's How do they have a British daughter? That's not an Italian. That guy sounds like He married a he married a British lady. He's Hindu. I don't do accents either. Oh, yeah. I don't have a kid for my family. No. But the fancy one that's like when you when you whenever you go to the store and it's always extra fancy ketchup, you wonder what happens to the Like where's the b grade ketchup? Like always the meat is always In front of middle of ketchup. That's what's in those frozen dogs you buy Yeah. When it's pre ketchups. They get the less than fancy. I don't eat those.

Hey, boy. You know what's terrible? Chili cheese fries. What do you mean? My wife bought some chili cheese fries the other night. We went out. This was our fifth anniversary. So we decided we we found somebody to watch the kids and we went out to a place. And I hate chili cheese fries, but she orders chili cheese fries. She doesn't in fact, she doesn't know them at all. And she looks at these, like, hey, chili cheese fries. You ordered them, I didn't have the heart to stop her. So they show up. She's like, here, have something. I'm like, no. Absolutely not. So she's trying to dig out, like, the fry that doesn't have any chili or nasty nacho cheese on it. And And it you know why don't like chili cheese fries? It's because they put they put that liquid nacho cheese on there and then the chili and it's like wet. It's like wet. Soggy like Yeah. I don't know if I can say it but there's a Can I just play Jake Cake? What? Sorry. I don't know what's happening. Don't worry about it. There's a restaurant that has these they're like sliced potatoes.

Like thin sliced. Uh-huh. You got cheese and bacon on them. Uh-huh. You can plug the restaurant. It's Buffalo Wild Wings. Man. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Maybe they could deliver something. Yeah. Exactly. Or if you'd be interested in advertising Buffalo Wild Wings. Call them and say like, if we're gonna plug you guys for free, we want free We tried doing that with the Holiday Inn cinnamon rolls. Yeah. And boy, they just would have nothing to do with it. He just got good cinnamon rolls. Hey. Speaking of which, where are his pants? The machine shit. Oh. I will They're like one pound. They're monsters. Yeah. Are they for one man? For a family. Can we get a group A family man. For a manly man. A family of men. A family man. Here. We're gonna have one on next week's show. King David would have eaten this. So shall you. Well, I'd like to see the cheesy commercials where David eats it. Well, just before I go out and battle Goliath, I'd like to have me a man sized cinnamon roll. But then he pulls out the heart. And write me a ditty. And then he gets on his motorcycle. Come on, Goliath. Little God in Bathsheba, where's my sling? I told you not to wash my sling. I was gonna use it today.

I folded it. It's in your closet. King Solomon says, split the baby, eat the whole cinnamon roll. Alright. I was kinda out there feeling like, alright. He brought it back. That's that's life from the once again, we'll be posting performances of the actual talent. Okay. So let's let's say somebody in our vast listening audience, maybe even in Europe, wants to book you guys. How do they get a hold of your non manager? Do they have a a daughter that's available? They

could. They might. Mean Yeah. Hey, Tim. You don't the vloggers are going crazy right now. Tim, you don't start out with that. No wonder the ladies aren't vlogging. Hey, hold on. As far as booking, bookingcindermoffire.com. If they just go to our website and then they contact us. I mean there's links you know for the public relations for PR stuff But where we can send them then also just for booking. That's the simplest way. Goes straight to Blackberry so we instantly get it. Awesome. And we can instantly answer and say yes or no or you're absolutely crazy. So how much cash do you have? And I made the walls. Yeah. Do do we link like these guys on our website? They're on there. Yeah. Yeah. See I been I've on our website before. Yeah. I told You realize that picture that I put up for you earlier? That's what you have on our website.

Like, if they pull up the Life From The Pest show on the Des Moines Amplified website, like, that's the pic pretty sexy, isn't it? Yeah. Yeah. It's hot. Got the goatee going. Got a little, I don't even know what kind of look it was. It looks fantastic. Yeah. Anyway. So like multiple ways to reach Syndrome of Fire. You can go meet them at their website, syndromeoffire.com. Again, they have Myspace, Facebook. I think you should be able to get I think we're linked to them on our Facebook on the Life From The Past site so you can if you can get down here in the next five minutes, they will still be here. They'll sign autographs. Yeah. Definitely. Yeah. Oh, we should have you sign autographs. Do you do you have one? We're never gonna get that pin in here though. Look at us. That eBay is just not gonna deliver quick enough. Yeah. I don't know. I don't know. I need I feel bad about bringing it up because I really don't have any other information besides what I kinda put out there. I didn't really do any looking into it. I just kinda threw it out there.

Okay. It's I thought it would have legs and run for a while but it tripped over it tripped over its own pylons and it was down on the face. I'm sorry. What was that? Did I say it right? That's If I say it Niche wording is what you're so that's what Parlance is. I tripped it tripped over its own Parlance. No. No. I'm afraid not. Daniel? It doesn't a metal alloy pin does not carry its own niche wording group. I believe it does. Like like, if you were trying if you were in a Okay. Let's make them all. If you were if you were in a unique group of of Russian pin makers and they referred to it in their own way, like certain aspects of creating the pin. That would be the parlance of a Russian pin maker. Well, what I'm saying is like the the atmosphere of the word parlance could be very easily transferred over to a different style of pin and make just as much sense. Who makes the pen? I don't make the pen. You make with the Do you want a Mike, do you do a Russian?

Hey, fellas. Hey, buddy. And and lady. Do you do Russian or don't you? Of course I do. Let's say that. I I I drive kev for family. No. I say, I drive kev for my family. I drive kev for my family. I drive kev for my family. I drive I drive kev. I drive kev. Keb. Taxi kev. I've made the waffles. We don't make waffles here. Who stole them a bitten? That's back to Italian. Yeah. It's falling apart. Oh, no. Very good bitten. That's terrible. I I I can't I don't do any voices. I do I do a Hindu, but you don't like it. Yeah. You will stole up my pepperoni. Pepperoni don't go in the waffles. Stupid Russian.

Everything. Everything. You say perogies. Everything. Perogies. What you want from me? I drive camp for family. I'm not I'm the real baker. I make 300. I buy a pepperoni. I don't know. I don't know. The show's taking a taker. I know. The news expressed. Whatever. Disappointment. There's a you know, that's only offensive if to a Russian if he has a bad accent. You know I'm saying? Because, like, if you're a regular Russian, it's obviously a terrible accent. There's no reason to be offended. But, like, if you're a legitimate Russian but have a terrible accent, like, somehow you were Yeah. He goes, sounds just like me. He's totally making fun of me.

That's awful. I don't do a cab. I do the Russian rickshaw. I do the skate taxi. Do they do that in Russia? No way. Skateboard taxi? Remember we talked about that? It's like a skateboard. It's like five feet long. Oh, You taxi people on the back. That just sounds You can make the guy shuffle along with you or if he's real lazy, you don't make him do nothing. Don't we have bicycles there? Hey, Tim. You wanna ride on a skateboard taxi or not? I'll take a ride on a skateboard. Alright. That's what I like to see.
