Segments
- Show open 0:02–1:04
Produced intro voiceover ('From Wolfshoot Studios, Downtown Des Moines'); the host introduces himself on air as Ben Foost and trades shared-womb jokes with a co-host.
- Opening banter: cranky dads and physiology gags 1:10–4:05
The hosts riff on dads who punish kids for waking them up, being cranky when woken (Olsen is named as famously cranky), and a long bit about why a prosthetic eyeball wouldn't move.
- Juan Pablo Velasquez news and political ad mockery 4:07–9:34
A Des Moines Register story (blog post by Tom Alex) about Juan Pablo Velasquez being arrested mid-haircut leads into a long mockery of cheesy political attack ads, plus an eyebrow-hair gag and a Sixth Sense-style farm-chemical radio spot one host loves.
- Pathway Church toilet commercial pitch 9:34–12:03
A host pitches a church ad: camera on a man on the toilet reading shampoo bottles, reaching for a Bible — cut to 'Pathway Church.' The others pan it, and note the women in the room already vetoed the idea.
- Show agenda 12:04–13:13
The host lays out the night: bathroom commercials, the main question of whether you can follow Christ without being part of the church, and a teaser about Mike's trouble with wind direction.
- Woman marries herself in Taipei 13:15–23:37
The hosts read and riff on a China Post story about Chen Weiye, a 30-year-old Taipei office worker who married herself in a full white-dress ceremony with 30 guests, calling it non-binding.
- Praying dog video and cinnamon rolls 23:38–28:16
The show airs a viral video of a dog 'saying grace' (voiceover prayer, set to Third Day's 'Born Again'), then the hosts eat cinnamon rolls brought from the Holiday Inn Express and joke about the free breakfast.
- Street interviews: why people skip church 28:19–31:45
The show plays a man-on-the-street video from Cartersville where passersby say they don't need church — 'religion is private,' 'hypocrites,' 'many paths to God' — then frames the night's question from it.
- Biblical basis of the church 31:46–38:33
The hosts discuss Acts 4, the church as Christ's body and bride, and how denominations and branding grew out of pride and followings around teachers' styles (Ben's, Mike's, and Dan's approaches are named as examples).
- Home churches and Sunday guilt 38:33–43:32
Chat questions: the rise of home churches, whether to feel guilty skipping Sunday when meeting other times, and small groups as enrichment rather than obligation.
- Must a church have a recognized pastor? 43:33–45:30
A chat question on whether a church needs a titled pastor; the hosts land on biblical precedent for leadership exercised through spiritual gifts, while warning pastors can become a church's worst enemy through ego and turf.
- You can't be a body on your own 45:31–51:44
The hosts argue you can't follow Christ solo — likened to a severed finger kept in an underwear drawer — and unpack accountability versus judgment, and why people avoid the Bible and church to dodge the consequences of sin.
- Watered-down, marketing-driven churches 51:45–1:00:20
The hosts charge that churches water down truth to draw crowds, market like businesses, and get shopped like consumer products; they recall the rich young ruler and 'let the dead bury the dead,' and remember a first-time visitor named Jason.
- What to look for in a church 1:00:21–1:02:12
The hosts say a church's first job is connecting people to Christ and growing them, and that members should be free to serve with their gifts — even a pottery class, if that's how people meet the Lord.
- Q-tip ear story and bean-counting 1:02:13–1:05:16
A host confesses he jammed a Q-tip in his ear before Sunday's first service and preached half-deaf, then pivots to the trap of bean-counting attendance and apologizing for unimportant things like acoustic week.
- The church family you lose by opting out 1:05:16–1:08:47
The main cost of skipping church, the hosts say, is losing the family — who's at the hospital, who calls out your blind spots — with a callback to the shared-womb gag and Ben named as the one who'd call you out.
- Church hopping and a Pathway testimony 1:08:48–1:12:39
A host tells how he first came to Pathway — asked by Troy to fill in on piano, put off by the auditorium, the tall pastor and the sermon topic — and stayed; the rule: it's fine to move churches, but evaluate for biblical core values, not chairs.
- Pre-blessed food sketch and show plugs 1:12:43–1:17:12
The show airs the 'Pre-blessed food' comedy commercial, then plugs lifefromthepath.org, the newsletter and YouTube channel, with a bit where 'Mike' calls in about business cards.
- Westboro Baptist's constellation of hate sites 1:17:14–1:21:16
A host recounts browsing Westboro Baptist Church's many websites (barackbeast.com and the like, every post signed 'Godsmack!') and marvels at the slick web design wrapping deplorable content.
- Summary: even the lone missionary is in the body 1:21:17–1:23:04
Summing up: you can't follow Christ and opt out of the church — even a lone deep-cover missionary in Uganda is still part of the body, supported by it, and owes the body his gifts.
- Window-washer evangelism role play 1:23:05–1:33:20
The hosts role-play witnessing to a window washer at a coffee shop who says he can worship God at home — cycling through bad rebuttals ('God hates church sissies') before landing a workable, honest invitation to Pathway Church in Johnston.
- Next week: Christ-curious 101, plus Vance Lambert 1:33:21–1:37:18
Preview of next week's 'Christ-curious 101' for seekers and returners, plus news that Vance Lambert — a friend of the show — will appear on the Christian Music Awards on TBN, playing guitar with Robert Mouti.
- Is downloading a lost CD piracy? 1:37:19–1:44:11
The hosts debate whether downloading a broadcast show you missed, a lost CD, Citizen Kane or E.T. is stealing — with a wrecked-car analogy — and mostly conclude it's wrong, detouring through julio.com and peacoats.
- Fight stories 1:44:11–1:51:01
The hosts trade almost-fight stories: a third-grade run-in with Joey Osborne, a construction-site confrontation, a Godfather's Pizza parking-lot rumble, and a windshield-ice prank — closing with a reading of James on the tongue.
- Trash dive and the northeast wind 1:51:03–1:54:47
A host reports his trash-dive haul (scroll saw, drill, drill press) and an unsold salon chair headed back to eBay, then the hosts tangle over what a 'northeast wind' means and whether wind can change direction.
- Halloween jokes and a Christian take 1:54:48–1:57:21
Cloud and knock-knock jokes from a host's three-year-old daughter Grace, then the hosts' Christian take on Halloween: nothing with death, Satan or evil — fun costumes and nursing-home visits are fine.
- Sign-off and closing song 1:57:21–2:00:21
Final plugs for lifefromthepath.org, the newsletter and YouTube (performances by Vance Lambert, Jeff Arendelle, Cinder of Fire), next Monday's 10pm–midnight show on desmoinesamplified.com, and a closing song performance.
Bible references
- Acts 4
You know, you just kinda look at Acts chapter four and you kinda get a glimpse of them gathering regularly.
- James
Was just reading James last night and I'm like, he wrote it for me, why is that stupid tongue
- Genesis 2:24
You say two become one. Well, one is already one.
- Genesis 9 (rainbow covenant)
Maybe that flood thing was a good idea. Shouldn't have said I wouldn't do it anymore. Stupid rainbow.

Bye. From Wolfshoot Studios, Downtown Des Moines. You are live from the past. Nobody's on the spot. You are listening to live from the past on demonicamplified.com. My name is Ben Foost. I'm glad to be here tonight. What are you doing over here? I'm here. Will you get out of here? I wanna run the host. Hostess with the mostess. I'm the hostess. I don't like being this close to you. That was kinda creepy. We were in the womb together. That's bond. Alright. After that experience, I think I've decided to part ways.
No one ever wants to be in the womb with me. So you're a kid, would say, let's go to our room. And then they always assume you were saying vroom, Be quiet in my dad's sleep. Dude, I don't know how many times I heard that, like how many lazy dads do my friends have? But every time I'd go over to somebody's house, they're like, you gotta be quiet doing my dad's time. That was that was me growing up. Yeah, see? I mean I mean my Yeah. My dad worked second shift and like during the week, was just gone, but then Saturdays, when it, know, it's playtime Yeah. It was like, that's It's gonna be quite deadly. Freaking freaking dad. Gonna run my childhood dad. Then we'd wake him up and he wasn't happy. He taught me a lot of words. He had the strap. Exactly. I'll show you. Are you are you guys cranky? Like, you get cranky when you get woken up from stuff?
I'm I'm told I am. Oh. Nah. Not you? No. No. I don't I I don't get cranky if I'm woken up. Unless I have a delicious From asleep. Cinnamon roll from Holiday Inn Express. Olsen is cranky. No doubt. Is that true? Yeah. Oh, he says he's cranky. No. I don't get cranky when I wake up from asleep but I get cranky in other facilities. I don't know exactly when they are, the woman will probably tell you better, but like being waking up in the middle of the night, I'm not really in a foul disposition. Yeah. But there are times when I'm cranky and I'm not really sure what what brings it on. I usually don't know I'm cranky till they tell me. Do you believe it? No. Oh, yeah. I don't believe it either. What do they know? They're just looking at me wrong. Okay. Well well, for goodness sake, stay away from Olsen. Yeah. No kidding. He's he's he's gets cranky. Maybe we could help Olsen with this problem. We'll call him every hour on the hour tonight. You think he's a greeter? Yeah, really. He's the choice. That's why nobody comes back. I felt bad but like I saw him so we were we were at church on Sunday and I was walking down the hallway at this at the Johnston Elementary that we where we meet and there was a there was like an old woman a picture of an old woman in the hallway and doggone it, if it didn't look just Olsen in the eyes. In the eyes? Yeah. He's yeah. Olsen has a woman of of an old lady or vice versa. He could take it as a compliment. I don't think that's how he took it. So he didn't think of it as, oh, she has the eyes of a young man. Yeah. 30%. Yeah. It was a 30% resemblance. Did you show it to him? Yeah, he saw it. Oh, so you talked about it already a little. Yeah. Oh. Was he a little cranky at the time? I don't know. Maybe that Yeah. Maybe that's why he didn't take his That's why the family will never come back. When they put like a phony eyeball in you,
Haven't had that done yet. Does it why doesn't it move? Like why does it just Well, you gotta have your muscles, you know. Well, can't they attach it like a lot of muscles? They can do everything else. More than three. They make a cow out of a petri dish. They can't get your your phony eyeball to attach to something. Joystick on your knee. Boy, that'd be that'd be awkward when you weren't A webcam. When you first got it. You're sitting there in your office playing with your eye. Is it does that look right? No? No? Is it to the right? Well, that yeah, maybe. Yeah. Maybe that's why they don't do it. Probably so. Joystick eye and whatever. Yeah. I guess just to circle back to top off the week, Olsen was also accused of looking like Juan Pablo Velasquez, who was getting a haircut at a strip mall when officers took him into custody Tuesday for allegedly robbing a Southside credit union. Oh. And they found him out the haircut place? Yeah. So if you go to the Des Moines Register and just just do a search for Juan Pablo Velasquez. Oh, Juan Pablo will probably do it. He's a it's a blog post by Tom Alex
and Mhmm. Yeah, you know, I think that old woman looks more like him. He looks grumpy in the picture. Yeah. Did you notice that the that the one register finally endorsed their political candidates? Yeah. That was a shock. You know, me me and the wife were were talking about this and and and she goes, you know, who who's waiting for the newspaper to come out with their endorsements? Go, yeah. That's right. That's the that's the guy. I I had no idea what to do until the newspaper told me. What an embarrassing Must have been a day when it was that way, like long before any of us were born. Yeah. Maybe so. It was a much You know what you know what's a tradition of the past? These political ads. Like, who is who who is affected by these like like they they play some scary music and then they show a jail closing and they're like Creepy guy. My opponent likes inmates and wishes they could get out early and run the countryside. Bad decision for Iowa. You know, like like who what? Who who can who seriously dreams these up and goes, this will reach every man. Every man and woman in The United States will watch this and go, yeah, he's not for me. Yeah. The guy that likes prisoners or whatever. Like I wanna know how you're gonna vote on x y z. Right. You know, I could give a rip if you know Well, that's the thing, it's like it's so like usually, like like I don't know, probably twenty years ago, you could tell what Hollywood was trying to do to get you feel a certain way and now, if you do it in the in the old fashioned way, you're considered cheesy now. You know, like if you if you bring scary music right at the right time, you know, like people are so used to it, they can see it coming. But somehow the political ads haven't progressed past this. Yeah. Like this So they still have like like like they'll say the worst things possible like genocide, murder, drug abuse and then they'll show the opposite candidate like smiling like he's at a picnic or something like like so and so loves ghosts and then there'll be a ghost flying by. You're like, there's like this A vote for John is a vote for dead people. It's like the cheesiest thing ever and and for some reason like the political savviness just hasn't gotten to the commercials. Yeah. Like they'll try every underground trick known to man except for the commercials where it's just blatant. Here's what's sad though, those are geared toward the dumbest people cause people with a brain already know who they're voting for. Yeah. They're looking for the dumb person who's like, I don't know who to vote How do you how are you undecided? How's that even possible? They're having a clue between, know, this extreme and that extreme. That guy hates corn, I love corn. Yeah. He's out. That's it. In the midst of The United States worst financial crisis since the great depression, Doug Larson poisoned his dog.
Never mind. Not only does he hate economic prosperity, he hates animals. Do you love Fido? Then hate Doug Larson. And then they'll show a picture of Doug Larson like smiling, I really hate animals. With an axe. Now that's what's sad about the whole process is elections are decided on the most ignorant people. I I really think there should be some type of IQ test before you get allowed to vote. That that's like totally They can call me all against names for that but I I mean. They probably can't think of much, really. Yeah. If they could think. You're a you're a corn hater. I hate you. You look at it and bring my strap.
His handkerchief is made of hemlock. Sniff it. What is that? What's hemlock? I was trying to say hemlock and I I couldn't think of anything to put it into. It's how it's how it's how Okay. First of all, the kind of guy we're talking about doesn't try to fit hemlocks into a sentence. He doesn't wake up in the morning and go, man, I'd like to use hemlock today. How's it gonna be done? He thinks, I I knew I should have labeled these boots now. It's a Play Doh. Which one of these goes on? That's how that's how they used to there was the execution method for the early Greeks is to take hemlock. Oh, yeah. Yeah. The hemlock society poison? Yeah. No. It's a it's a type of chocolate dye. Kinda like Exelax. You know what I don't like it when you I don't like it when you raise your eyebrows when you say poison. You know what I mean? Dude, gross. You have a you have a a hair hanging from your eyebrow. Do I? It's about
I don't know. It's about four inches long. It's hanging from your right your left eyebrow. Can you see it in front of your face? No. Left eyebrow? Yeah. Oh, I see it. Yes. Can you see it, Brad? Right hanging down. Yep. You got it. You're good. Well, that's grody. So I think my favorite commercial right now Okay. And it's on the radio. It's at four inches. And nobody I know has heard it because I I listen to old people radio, know, was like WHO, like I have since I was 18 though. But my favorite commercial, I can't even tell you what it's for, some farm chemical and it's like a total playoff of sixth sense, you know, and it starts out, you know, it's like, you know that fly you swatted mom? It's still here. It has creepy music. And then it's like all these insects in a field like they move out to the country and he sees all they don't they they're dead, but they don't know it yet. I mean, it's just awesome. I just love it. I can't tell you what they're selling. That sounds like something that people would think was funny. I know it's like I don't know who they're selling that to because I'm like going, yeah, I'll never buy ever. I mean, but it's cool. Wow, Dan. I think it's really creative. You listen to life from the past. Man. Can we come up with a church? Simplified.com.
We can come up with a church commercial. I can almost What what's not gonna happen is that you would be on the church advertising board. That's a guarantee. I wanna do the TV ones. You know, like they always a few years ago, always had some preacher out there saying, come up with some dorky thing with like a weight bench in the background. Yeah. Then they'll show him kicking a soccer ball, play life for Jesus. So some dude that just totally looks like, really? Did you did you wear that on purpose? Even worse than what I wear. What what sweater vest should I wear for this deal? It's it's 85 degrees out. I don't wanna look like I'm dressing up. But it worked. People showed up in droves because of that. From what I heard. Maybe we should do it. That's how I've said. I've always thought about it. You wanna do a commercial? I think it'd fun. Dude, let's do it. We went to Sean and I, a few years ago, to QCCI, had a thing, meeting for commercial people. It was like, gonna cost like a grand a month, we had like a one year program. We were just too new, we didn't have any money. We still don't still don't any money. But you know, anyway, we didn't do that. But I always thought we'd kinda cool, kinda fun. Hey, let's do it. Let's shoot one and then we'll we'll play it we'll play it on the radio show. We'll just get a projector and Yeah, whatever. We don't need to pay for a commercial time somewhere. We have a radio show. It'll become viral video. Yeah. Okay. Let's do the let's do the let's do the guy on the let's do the guy on the toilet.
What? The guy in the toilet. Let's say okay. So a guy, intercede I'm a I'm a say right here that the women have panned this commercial idea. They don't think it's it's it's No. This is funny. This is funny. Okay. So so camera cuts in on a guy sitting on the john appropriately placed. Alright? And then you see him reach over and he grabs the shampoo bottle from the shower and he turns it over and and starts to peruse it and he goes, reddit. And then he grabs lotion or whatever and he starts reading the back from him. Mhmm. Reddit. And so you see him like grab three or four more things. He's reading everything in the bathroom he can reach from the toilet. And then all of sudden, you see him pulling a bible and he goes, ah, and then it cuts. Pathway Church. He cuts what? He cuts one? No. No. Oh. It cuts away. That makes it flow. It cuts away. Okay. The bible helps indigestion, is that what you're trying to say? It's ridiculous. It's a great laxative. Yeah. And it helps you with Help you with your business.
That's the line. I don't know. Well, not the way you've sold it. It's not Beano. You can't vote twice. Chad, that's a boo and a double boo. Oh, all from Bean. So so coming up today on on Life on the Path, bathroom commercials, and we're gonna talk later on the show, we're gonna get to talking about whether it's
whether it's possible to follow Christ and not be a part of the church. Because actually I'm seeing that's a pretty prevalent thing I think. Like the people get they get sick at church for whatever reason. Are they hurt or something? Yeah. Yeah. They they think the church It's swindlers, hypocrites, whatever it is. And they don't wanna be part of it. They say, I'm just gonna follow Christ on my own. So I I think we're gonna we're gonna talk about that a little bit and see whether that whether that's possible and and still being biblically consistent. And I think that in logically that'll kind of extend to, you know, what what should our expectations as someone that wants to follow Christ be of the church as a body? And and and maybe here, we're not talking about the biblical church which is everybody, but the community of which we decide to, you know, attend services, if you wanna think of it that way. What what what are should our expectations be from a church? You know, so so we'll get to that here in a little bit. Mike's having trouble with the wind, the correct direction of the wind. We're gonna we're gonna get to that. Yeah. Once and for all. Chinese woman marries herself. That's interesting. Biblically truff troublesome. You say two become one. Well, one is already one.
Yeah. Well, but It's a biblical marriage inherently. Something to think about. Very odd. Is she a multiple personality? I don't think so. I didn't read the story actually. See, it's Middle Eastern, Chinese lady and That's not Middle Eastern. It is. When you say you're from the Middle East, they don't say you're from the Far East, that's China. The Middle East is not China. Looks like we're here in the West Coast in Iowa. That's all for three on any geography. She's international. She's of an international descent. She's worldly.
Anyway, I it's what anyway, she's international. Okay. And, yeah, she decided that, she said 30 she turned 30 years old, she said, I haven't found anyone to share my life with but it's time for marriage so I'm gonna go ahead and and marry it up. So she married herself. Although she didn't rule out a second marriage in case her first one doesn't work out. How do you divorce yourself? If you can help with that. Disaster. If only I had the camera down there. Yeah. So anyway, she she married herself. So how do you divorce yourself? I mean I mean, that's just weird. Like she was getting along fine with herself till she got married. Yeah. Things are falling downhill from here. And then the spark went out. I just don't like me like that. I like that shirt. I don't like that shirt. Where's the romance? The thrill has gone.
What if that is pretty bad. What do you do, you know? How do you how do you leave a fight? Stop following me around. We just need need some space. So I like, I actually don't even get the crux of the story, like, she's officially married to herself? I'm pretty sure she probably went to some kind of Unitarian church and got this thing done, you know, where, you know, I don't I don't Obviously, it's not possible and and obviously it's even relevant. I'm just wondering what, yeah, why? Was it just to get her name on the paper or Well, ceremony would be kind of a pain, wouldn't it though? Like she'd have to run up there and then run back and then change her clothes and then haul back up. Or maybe she would paint her face, I don't know how he'd do How's that look when the dad's walking her down the aisle? So are you the groom right now or are you the bride? Yeah, really. I think if I was her dad, I'd say, look, I just I'm not gonna participate. For sure, I'm busy. And he'd say, I'll see if my dad will marry us and he'd say, shh, quiet my dad's sleeping. Don't wake him up. Okay. Here we go. So it's from the China. Here's from the the China Post. That's what I said, China. November 16, 30 year old office worker Chen Weiye married the love of her life, dash for pause, herself. The Taipei City based woman. I like that. She's based in Taipei City. Dad, has everyone referred to you as either being fun Johnson Johnson or based in Johnston? Like you free float to various cities. Maybe that's Using that. I think that Yeah, that's good way to introduce yourself. I'm Mike Foose, I'm based in New Moy. Yeah. I like that. But otherwise, I'd I'd go Yeah, my operation is wide reaching, but I do all my main work here.
Mothership is. Alright. So the Taipei City based woman who is no longer single by her own admission wanted to show other ladies who have hit their thirties without a manifested prince charming that they are not failures. You must learn to love yourself before you can love others, said Chen, who also plans to embark on a solo honeymoon to Australia after she quits her job as a study abroad coordinator to the land down under. Chen explained that when a woman in Taiwan enters her thirties, getting married and having children becomes the main focal point among concerned family, relatives, friends, making a single independent woman feel like a failure if she has none of these things. I explained that although many people freely express their love for others through flowers, chocolates, and expensive dinners, they are less inclined to pamper and shower the same love on themselves. The same token, expressing your love for a man through marriage and a huge wedding banquet should be something you're willing to do for yourself. Self marriage seemed like the logical solution, he concluded. Self marriage. I love this. Alright. So let's see. The sixteenth October 16 ceremony rivaled that of a couple nuptials the world over, involving a full white dress, wedding invites, bridesmaids, groomsmen, tricky,
and 30 guests who showed up at the Taipei City banquet hall that Chen reserved. The newly wedded lady even created a Facebook fan page that encouraged fellow women to have, quote, much fun as I did. Making it clear okay. Here's the kicker. Making it clear that she has had several boyfriends and relationships, some of which almost led to the altar, Jen described herself as neither unmarriageable nor against marriage to another person. Obviously. Well, now she's a bigamist. She also considers this marriage non binding, meaning she is free to marry someone else. I'm gonna worry you but I won't commit. How do I get one of these non binding marriages? At least she made the commitment to forever love herself. Does she have a wedding ring on with her hand? You know, frankly, all of this could have been accomplished with a Hallmark card delivered to herself. You know, know, you're right, I am pretty okay. I love the way you look at me. Man. I know everything about you. Mirror. That's
that's just strange. I I I don't even know why this made the news. They're stretching for stuff to put in the news nowadays. I mean, like, think of it this way. Forty years ago, someone comes up and says, hey, man, I'm marrying myself. They they call somebody to come look after you and probably take you away. Exactly. They don't send out a camera crew. It's probably a conversation at the local watering hole. Hey man, did you hear Steve's marrying himself again? Yeah. It didn't work out last night. I tell you what, he makes good rocking chairs though. You know, just leave them be. But this is like a gallon in China. Mhmm. I mean, nobody sticks out in China. Wasn't Taiwan. Taiwan's different. Yeah. Chen Wei Hai. I love it. That's a cool name. I've been to Taiwan. Ni hao Chen Wei Hai. But even there, there there's like millions of people and she just wanted to stick out a little bit evidently. Well, maybe this is a Maybe she could get a man out of it. Maybe she should be tall. Some guy looking to to Actually, that's a pretty dead giveaway. A woman that is I don't know, this is gonna come out wrong, but like any woman that goes through the process of marrying herself, seems pretty high maintenance to me.
Nobody can treat me the way I deserve. I don't think I'm going down that route. I think I'm with you. Well, wedding ring is probably gonna drive others away. Exactly. Well, you say married, no, no, it's to me. Good luck finding a suitable, you know, your prince charming dude with the highest integrity and good meaning thoughts trying to find a already married woman to date. I wonder what her wedding album looks like. I mean, there's just so many things. Where would you sit? I'm with the You know what, I'd just sit in the back. There's no aisle, isn't She had groomsmen, it doesn't say what she did about the groomsmen. I'd get You'd have to get your brother to do it, wouldn't you? I don't know, or somebody. Don't you always get like family to do it? Let me Okay, let me ask this. Let's say someone you know that you like, like one of a good friend of yours comes up and gives you this plan that that's what they're gonna do. And you know, it's not it's non binding or anything and they say, look, I really I really want you to be there as a groomsman. What do you say?
Okay. Just because it's fun. I think I could go. Yeah, I'd probably go. Yeah. Alright. So that they were What if they're like dead serious on it? They're really committing to this thing. Okay. If he owed me money, I would say, look, you pay me my $50 you owe me and then you can start spending money on this this fictional non binding self marriage. Dan, would you be willing to perform a service for a single person marrying themselves? I would not. Yeah. You would say no? You think the justice of the peace would do it? Well, they'll do anything for money. I mean, he I don't think the j p can bargain. I think he's he's a, I'll do whatever you want for a price. Like, I don't I don't think they're like He's a street hustler. You want a chicken, whatever, $75. I have a friend who who's a guy who was a bridesmaid before.
Why? The girl resisted. Well, nothing to She's her best friend. So she figured why not. No requirement, whatever. Yeah. Did he wear the same color as the other bridesmaids? I don't know. In a suit? You'll have to ask Matt Cassidy. Oh, no doubt. Yep. We should see that on viral videos, which I believe is on this station. That's what I understand. Yeah. What is it, Saturday nights? Yeah. Saturday nights, think it's at 10:15 to midnight. You can catch viral videos with Matt Cassidy. Matt Matt Cassidy. I'd like to see some video of that. Yeah. There's Oh, these pictures. I'm sure there's a Nobody's got pictures. I bet he can do a self marriage. See if he'll do He's already married. That'd be kinda unfaithful. Pants, would you perform one? Pants, would you perform a Yeah. Pants does wedding ceremonies. Is he? Yeah. No. No. He's not even listening. Never mind. Pence. Never mind, Pence. He's out. Obviously,
if you break this down, just just just so we're clear on this, this is not a biblical marriage, self marriage is frowned on. Well, it's probably not even mentioned. It's not even mentioned? It's kinda ridiculous. And by the way, don't marry yourself. Yeah. Says you're between a man and a woman so I guess a woman and herself doesn't fall apart. So just to bring it all back to Jesus here, You know, it's like funny but she needs the Lord. I mean, there's a lot of things the bible says not to marry like dogs and animals and pigs. Mean, it really literally says all these things. Like Doug Lorson. Like Doug Lorson. He's a dog killer. You know, here's the thing. And he wants married a chicken. This has to attest to you the awesomeness of the God that we serve, you know what I'm saying? That that he just can't imagine him up in heaven and this lady goes, I'm gonna self marriage and God just doesn't go,
I didn't even know, this is new to me. You know, like I know everything, I see everything coming, I knew this has been coming for years and I'm still ashamed of it. Like I just don't know what to do. Maybe that flood thing was was a good idea. Shouldn't have said I wouldn't do it anymore. Stupid rainbow. Who wrote that down? I told you guys leave that out there. Stupid rainbow. We're gonna take a quick one minute hiatus so you can see this
this overly cute video of this dog praying and then we're gonna come back with whether you can follow Christ and and not be a part of the church. So enjoy this praying dog on Life From The Path on demoniamplified.com. Django. Django. Hey, buddy. You hungry? You are, sleepy head. You are. Good morning. Good morning. Hey.
You wanna eat? You hungry? Are you hungry? Yeah? Okay. Well, come here. I'll tell you what. Come say grace. Come say grace. Dear Lord, say grace. Dear Lord, thank you for this day and everything you've given us. Thank you for allowing us to be the man the man and puppy that you've allowed us to be. Father, thank you for our friends and family, their prayers and support and energy that they give us. Father, just guide and guard and watch over them as they go through the days ahead. Father, I do ask a special prayer that you help me to not chase the neighbor's cat and to listen to my master whenever he asked me to do something. In your heavenly name, we pray. Amen.
Amen. Alright. Go eat. Good boy. There there it was. The overly cute puppy praying. Was that was that third day playing in the background? Yeah. Actually, someone else who had been listening to who'd watched the video mentioned what the song was. It was Born Again by Third Day. There we go. Yeah. So there you go. Dig on it. Man. Now what are you doing? Mike? Oh, there's Pants. Pants, you wouldn't do it? Pants wouldn't do it. What are you doing? Mike.
What are you doing? Nothing. Are you eating are you eating that cinnamon roll? Yep. Hey, Mike finally brought in Where'd you get to When did you pick up these cinnamon rolls? Me and a woman stay at the Holiday Inn Express. The rolls are excellent. Yep. Oh, I love them. Yeah. I stayed there on Saturday night, I'm bringing them now. They've been in my car three days. Whatever. They still taste good. Yeah, all good. They still can do better. Yeah. Who knows how long they were in the closet at American To be honest with you, they taste just the exact same as they did when they came out fresh. Yeah? Lot of chemicals? Well, yeah, were I tell you what, we talked them up and they weren't as good as I recall. I don't know if it had to do with the preparation or maybe I I set my bar too high from last time I had them. But they were excellent. Were they warm when you got them? Yeah. Yeah. They were. I think they're fantastic. They
said free breakfast so I took a platter, I took some. That's nice, I like it. Yeah, I took four actually and I ate one this morning. I intended to bring in four for a possible guest and then I convinced myself on the drive because I was hungry, thought, what am gonna have with that? Maybe ghost rider out there would have wanted one. If I married myself, I could split Oh, We're sharing the buffet. You still have to pay for yourself, sir. Seriously? He's he'll pick up the tab this time. He's taking me out. He's in the bathroom, he'll get it. I'm gonna go warm up the car. Those holidays in similar roles are brought to you by the Holiday Inn Express, the preferred
choice of hotel staying from the guys from Life and the Path. Agreed. Yeah, I like it. Alright. So did you have a good time? Yeah, we we we pretty much We were about to fall asleep at 08:30. We got rid of In the morning? No, at night. Oh. We got rid of them kids and then, like, we went swimming, we took the kids swimming in the pool or whatever and, you know, and then they they they went with with her mom and and she was kind enough to watch them for, you know, the night and so, you know, they they went away at like 06:00 and we went out to eat or whatever and then we went to Target, so we could just walk around Target without the kids and then That's okay, Target. And then we went to the hotel and I was like, well, I'm getting pretty tired. And the wife goes, well, you know, it's a night about doing things that you can't normally do with the kids around, so if you wanna go to bed, I guess. And I'm like, well, I'll go to bed. I'm pretty disappointed. What do you mean? Okay, I'm even older than you are, but still, if the kids are gone and I'm in a motel with my lovely bride that the
thought on my mind was I'm not gonna tell you the whole story, Daniel. No, I wanna know more. I'm gonna tell you no more about it. We got Nobody knows. We got these cinnamon rolls Secret. And I went to bed. That's all you need to know. I'm just saying the last the last thought on my mind is, I sure would like to go to Target right now. Okay. Now, I I wanted to also say that we watched an hour of the Food Network before I fell asleep. We watched That would make me fall asleep. Unwrapped about candies and whatnot. It was very interesting. It was a good time. Holiday Inn Express. Okay. Alright. So here's so here's the question. Okay. Is it possible I I think to a certain Sometimes we're seeing the thought of the church. People people are talking fairly negatively about the church as a whole. Who? People. People as a Let me add them. Are they married? Are speaking poorly of the church. Hold on. I'm gonna take a nonchalant pose here so we can really speak on this on a personal level. Okay. Alright. Ready? So so I guess I I've I've been hearing more and more from folks who are like, you know, I I don't We do both cameras. Yes. Don't wanna engage Yeah yeah yeah, go ahead and get them. Actually, you know what? Hold on. I had a pretty cool, here, instead of just saying people do it, here I have an example. Okay. Okay, here, hold on. Listen to these, listen, here's a quick video with somebody went out
in the streets of Cartersville and interviewed people. Where's that at? I don't know. International? It's just we hit the streets in Cartersville. Somewhere in The Middle East. Yeah. Alright. Alright. So here here, actually, check this out real quick and then we'll come back when we'll talk. Dang it. I believe in God and everything but I believe him in my own way. I wasn't raised in a church, and I don't know. I just always believed that you don't have to go somewhere to worship. Do you go to church anywhere? No. I don't. I most certainly do. No. Right. Yes? No. Do you go to church anywhere? No. Not right now. We're in the process of finding a church.
Alright. Now see this. No. No. I don't. Don't want to. That's a good question. Just because I believe they push too many issues on you and they all say you're a hell in you anyway, my own personal belief is your gut tells you what you do is right or wrong. So I don't need to go to some place telling me automatically that I'm automatically gonna be in the wrong everywhere. Religion is private to me. But I don't think it's necessary. And I think it's, instills fear. I think it's I mean, that's a huge question. Because I I didn't I was, like, more spiritual
than that. I was more in the spiritual belief, not the Christian belief, but I'm starting to get into that Christian belief thing. Organized religion, I feel skeptical of. It's pretty boring, Hypocrites. There's lot of them out there. I don't like people that just go to church on Sunday and get back to their normal lives during the week. I didn't like it when I was little, and I'm not forcing it on anybody. When
I've gone, they've always been highly after my pocket, and I get skeptical of that. I do not believe in organized religion. I think that's very hypocritical. I think that you can have your own personal relationship with God, and it can be in any forms, and there are a lot of paths to God. And I'm actually a preacher kid. I should go to church. I should go to church a lot more. To go back to church? I guess if I wanted to, I thought I needed it. So they're I guess there was a glimpse of maybe
what some of the thoughts out there are. So maybe if we start from a from a basic context, one of the people had said, you know, I can follow God. There's many paths to God. I can follow God my own way. The church are hypocrites. I prefer to have my just my personal relationship with Jesus Christ. So I guess the first question is, biblically speaking, because if you're we're gonna assume I'm gonna make the assumption that if you're trying to follow Christ, if you're claiming to have a relationship with Jesus Christ, that it's the relationship should be biblically based because that's that's where the story of Jesus comes from and the any reason to see Jesus as a figure to follow is based upon the Bible. So I guess from there, can you just follow Christ and not be a part of the way we look at the church and and still be biblically sound?
You know, the thing that stuck out to me listening to these people talk is they all said, I think, I feel, I believe, this is this is how I'm approaching it. Boy, that's kind of risky. You know, I I live in in Johnston and Johnston police are are pretty
well known for the fact that they keep their little speed radar thingies. What do you call those? Yeah. The radar. Radar. Yeah. Radar. Are you based out of Johnston? I'm based out of Johnston and the locals there keep a pretty keen eye on people's speed limit. If I'm going down by the school where our church meets, which is 25 miles per hour, and I get pulled over for going 45, and I tell the officer, well, I just feel like it should be 45 here. I just really think. This is my approach, I 40 know you got your 25 thing, but I really think, I think 45 is more more appropriate. Yeah. That doesn't change the truth. Well, what is what is the biblical basis for church? Is that right? I was trying to take I was trying to break that down. The biblical basis. Well Well, the church is is the is the body of Christ. You know, it is the gathering of Christ followers who come together with that common goal
to worship Jesus, to to learn the apostles' teaching. You know, you just kinda look at Acts chapter four and you kinda get a glimpse of them gathering regularly. It wasn't necessarily, you know, Sunday at 10:00 type thing. It was like all the time they were meeting day and night in each other's homes, in in the temple area, and anywhere they could get, it was gathering. For the Was it was it set up by Jesus? Absolutely. I mean, he's the head. Okay. You know, scripture declares him the head of the church. Know, he uses some interesting imagery with the church. We're his bride, is which kind of a little freaky if you're a guy going, wait, man, I'm no bride. Yeah. But you know, whole idea of the church is the bride and he is the groom and and that gets into That's self mercy. It's funny now. Hugo bride. You can see how that works. Yeah. I mean, and then that has some imagery of the time, the culture of that time with waiting for the groom to come before the marriage. And the whole idea of that is, one of these days, I'm coming back, be prepared, be prepared. The church is the bride who is preparing for the groom to come back. And he always came back at any moment. You never knew the trumpet would sound, the groom would come and the party started, whether ready or not. So, the bride had to always be ready. That's the idea of the church. That's the imagery of the church. We always have to be ready
because he's gonna come back anytime. We don't know. So, it's this gathering of people who are followers of Jesus. I mean, that's really def It's it's not that building on the corner of 4th And Elm that has a cool sign and a nifty name Yeah. That's irrelevant. The church might happen to meet there. It's impossible to go to church, you are the church. Right. You know, and that's where we get kinda confused when we talk about Like, these people are confused in how they answered it because, well, this is how our culture takes it, you know. Right. So how did we get from, you know, how did we get from description of the church, you know, from from back in bible days of You're basically saying they are the church, a group of people. Like when they Like in the New Testament when they refer to
the church at Thessalonica or the church at Corinth, know, they're talking about people that would meet almost daily, like you said daily or a group of people in a town, they consider you the church of that town, know, or the church of Johnson or the church of whatever. How do we get from that into you know, the once a week Mhmm. In the morning, Sunday, this is when church meets here. And and this is what label we're gonna give ourselves as
the name of a church. Right. You know, I'm a baptist Lutheran, whatever. Right. It doesn't matter. I think it boils down to back to pride. And and they're right, the church is full of hypocrites because none of us are perfect. None us have got it figured out. And so, even in the time of Jesus, different rabbis had different followings and they had different slants on teaching things. And within the Christian church, people came forward who were teachers, they'd have a little different slant, they kinda say, I like I like what Ben's approach on stuff. And and people are like, well, I like how Mike does it. And and there's three or four that say, like, how how Dan does it. And pretty soon you got three groups, and before you know it, they gotta they gotta name themselves. Well well, Ben church is over here, you know. Right. And I think that's just how it just kind of evolved through time. And then they started getting organized and and kind of running it like a business rather than the bride of Christ. And it became, you know, here here's what you're gonna believe if you're gonna come to this church and and here's what you're gonna do and blah blah blah. And then they started having brand, you know, branding basically and and pride in your brand and none of that's biblical. Right. You know, mean I mean, it's not necessarily unbiblical but it's not really biblical either. Okay. That's why we went non denominational as a church is I didn't want any baggage
and people always come and say, well, are you? We're a church. You know, it's like, well, no, but what are you? Had a message this past week, well, we're looking for a non denominationalist Baptist. And so then you're looking for a Baptist church, know, because we're not Baptist, we're non denominational, you know. Yeah. And and even within the brotherhood of independent Christian churches types thing that that we're really kind of part of, we're even more independent because we're like, we're just we're just what what you see is what you get, you know. Right. Read the bible, we'll do what it says, not do what it says not to do and you know Yeah. It's simple. Yeah. We complicate it. So, actually, let's let's hit a couple of the questions from the chat. So, the summation was, so it seems as though church wouldn't have to be what we think of church but could really be a small group type setting, correct? Yes, no. Yeah. It's a gathering, yeah, yeah. Okay. Was, there was something on the CBS Evening News I think last week about the rise in home churches. Yeah. Yeah. People that are Yeah. Mean Some organic
Yeah. Swelling. Which you know, the funny part about that is is that you have to label them as home. Like it just doesn't matter. They're just churches of people. Where they meet is not is not relevant that they're doing at home is cool. The Judean Park, whatever. So and then the question I don't know where this is going. The question is, should we, as followers of Christ, feel guilty about not showing up on Sunday on occasion Yes. If we are otherwise meeting with our church group Very other times throughout the guilty. Yeah. Yeah. Thanks. Next question. Next. Well, and that goes back to once you identify yourself with a body of believers and say, okay, this is this is this is where I'm gonna hang out. This is gonna be my family. You know, this is this is my church family. And you're gonna have within that family your smaller groups. Okay. This is my smaller group of people I really hang out with a little closer way and I have the bigger church family. Somewhere in there, you you you take responsibility and you do your part. If you don't show up weak, you know, is is god like frowning and screaming? I don't think so. I mean, we encourage it because goes back to pride. We want the numbers high, want the percentages high and boy, I'm gonna have my church bigger than your church so make sure everybody come up. And if people don't come, then everything kind of falls apart and you can't sustain a ministry. It's kind of a double edged sword. Right, well and I suppose, like when you say that there's a rise in home churches,
think, yeah, home churches, you know. And I'm just as guilty of this as everybody else. I think, well, churches, they're not a real church, you know what I'm saying? Because they don't have at least every number of people and they don't have a gathering whatever. And I think it does boil down to it's the same. It's a body of believers getting together to talk about their savior and learn and walk. And you know, I have a We go to our small group during the week and like I consider that like enrichment to my Church light. Well, yeah, maybe. Less filling? Maybe.
Not as much Dan. Much happier here. He's just terrible. Makes me feel guilty. But you know, like I don't go to those things because I feel like I have to, you know, like I'm being forced to, like I'll be ostracized if I don't. I go to those things because I like to be around other believers that are living life just like I'm living life. We can talk through biblical stuff along the week because frankly, when I miss church on Sunday, it grounds me out when I go. I just feel like I've
done, I'm starting to sing out on the right foot, it just feels like I've come back full circle however bad the week went. When I show up back up at church, I can get my heart right and get my mind right. And then I start thinking, every day should be like this. Like you don't really need to save it up till Sunday and consider it a car wash and back out you go. Right. You know, and I used to really look at it that way, now I just really like to go but I think church gets lost in the misconception of what it is. You know, people believe that their hang ups are the same hang ups that everyone in the church has with the perception of them. Like when someone who doesn't go to church normally walks through the door, they think that everyone else is thinking, well, those people don't show up here. They need this, they need that, they're bad people, they don't this, whatever. Misconceptions
which are sometimes true, sometimes the church does view people like that but on the other hand, we're all here for the same reason and if we as the can get past that, then I think you can get a lot of people who aren't currently following Christ to believe it. If it's genuine, it's genuine. If you don't have to put on a show then there's no strings to fall. Right. Right. You know, and the the early church, it it really did both. They met in homes oftentimes morning and night and then did work in between because it was, you know, it was like, do you believe in Jesus? Oh, maybe we'll go ahead and burn you at the stake. You know, so it was more intense than like, they would just try to work this into their schedule. Right. So, anyway, met a lot individually in in the small groups. But then, there was like the gathering that it was the church.
So, the church of Thessalonica would be like the church would get together once in a while and do stuff. And that's how a lot of these home church movements are doing. They're doing a lot of small group stuff and then I don't know how often, once a quarter, once whatever, they'll just get together and do a big celebration thing. I think that's difficult culture structure and stuff because because you do have because also there are responsibilities with leaders within the church to make sure there's adequate accurate teaching being done. Yeah. People's needs are being met and and maybe they have a system for that, you know. Well, it's That was one of the one of the questions from the chat was, so must a church have a recognized pastor? I don't know if recognized. I don't know if they have a title. To
be a church, think to be part of the full working body of Christ, God gives gifts to his people, spiritual gifts, and all those gifts should be present. And if a body is functioning well, be someone there who will rise and and take that role on. It is it is biblical to have leadership because Yeah. Because the You know, Paul spends time talking about what it means to be a leader of a church. And so, you know, it does seem like it's it's consistent biblically to to have someone that is kinda wrangling this operation and and keeping it focused in in the right way. See, sometimes I think pastors are the worst enemy to a church depending on the situation. Murr gets back to pride and ego and and my turf and I need you to need me. Yeah. So I create these boundaries where you can't do this but I can, so here's what I'm gonna do and you do that stuff and and when it's really important you call me, if you know, if it's just picking diapers in the nursery, I'll go ahead and call you, you know, type of thing. Yeah. And that's kind of a self perpetuating, but not necessarily biblical. Right. Know, it's it's we're all just believers Right. Doing different things. It's biblical to have leadership to the extent that someone has been has a spiritual gift that is help lead folks. That doesn't make leading
folks more important than being led by that person and utilizing whatever gifts that you have for the church. But it is just the nature of the beast so that things run, know, have a chance at running correctly. So like this communal church idea seems like there are, although there's certainly nothing wrong with getting together in community and worshiping Christ and talking about it, it does sound like there's a biblical precedent for leadership within, if you would think of it as a church body. Yeah. Yeah. Definitely. So can you do this on your own?
I don't think so. You can't be a body on your own. That's like cutting a finger off and I'm gonna cut off my finger and I'm gonna put it in my underwear drawer and at some point, it's not a finger anymore. It's detached itself from the body. It's just this cold, stiff, deteriorating flesh, that's kind of a nice image, in your underwear drawer. Did it have to be Really taking a tack on Why your is it so cold in my underwear I mean, you know, that's what people do is they'll they'll detach themselves
and then they kind of start fading away and and and their spiritual life, they might tell themselves, you know, I can do it, can I'm good. You know, I I say a little prayer before I go fishing or something or I worship God in nature or whatever. Not that you can't do that but if that's your church, it's just not church, you know, it's just you fishing. Well, think you're probably missing on a lot of the accountability stuff, you know I'm Yeah. Like when people say, you know, I think you can get to God in many different ways, you know, Whatever led you to God, whatever your circumstance prior to knowing Christ, you can get there in a lot of ways. That's true. Like whatever your previous circumstances, it doesn't even matter what your previous circumstance is, you can always get to God. There's a lot of to get there. But but like the the accountability part of it is is a lot of it, you know, like they they say, you know, when people say, I just don't look at it that way. Or the church is full of hypocrites, you know. And we are. Yeah. We we are and we and we are, you know, and and no one wants to be held no one wants to held accountable. You know, no one wants to feel like they're doing crap wrong and then people are coming down judging at them, but that's the difference between being judged and being held accountable. And I think that's probably the difference between a healthy church environment and one that's not doing real well. One that's judging you and making you feel judged, as long as you're not putting that on them as their characteristic against you, like you're not saying he's judging me, when really they are just trying to say, look,
if you and I agree that we're both following Christ here and we agree that the manual on following Christ is the bible, then what you're doing is not matching up. That's being held accountable. That's not judging, that's just saying, look, we're both after the same thing here. We're trying to talk this through. We're trying to help each other out. And I think that's one of the things, the reason you hear things like, I find God in my own way, I found different ways to connect with God is because people have trouble accepting there should be consequences. Right? And the minute that I agree to a worldview that says the bible is God's word and completely true, you've accepted that there are consequences to your behavior. Right? And so as long as I don't accept that, I still get to to live off a shallow thought that there are not consequences to me acting however I act, even in small ways. That I can I can do small things with no impact to people? As long as I don't murder my kids, beat the dogs or vote for Doug Larson, I'm cool. Exactly. I don't have any problems. Yeah. Right? And so but the minute that I accept a savior, I'm accepting that that there are consequences to the things that I do and and that I think is a barrier for a lot of people is is the admission that hey, not only am I not perfect, which I think most people will admit to, but there are consequences to my imperfection when it comes to God's judgment and and I think people don't wanna they don't wanna get there
because they Some of it is because they're trying to hold on to a self a self confidence thing, know, I'm not that bad. And if I have to look it through God's eyes, yeah, my sin doesn't make me that bad. Yeah. You know, so I think I think that's one of the issues that that we have have trouble broaching is accepting the fact that that in an honest world, there are consequences to my behavior. And to the extent that I have to acknowledge a god that looks at my behavior and judges it, I have to accept that that consequences are true and real and I think that's where people run, that people run away from the fact of admitting that there are consequences to my behavior. Well, the church the church and the bible are almost the same thing in in the reasons that people don't wanna go. There's a lot of reasons that people say that they don't wanna go to church and some are legitimate, you know, some churches are a drag and some churches are judgmental and whatever. Know, we have our failings just like anybody else. But the church and the bible are a lot of the same things. There's reason. I tell myself there's not a reason. There's a reason I didn't read my bible for a long time because I don't wanna know what's in there, you know I'm saying? Like I don't wanna know what the Lord I wanna be happy and comfortable with what I'm doing. You know, I know me, you know, I'd help an old lady across the street, know, I do nice things for people, I hate everybody, know, I'm generally an okay fella. You don't steal cinnamon rolls or anything from I what don't feel appropriate about a cinnamon roll for the number of people that were in my party. What if I was a fat man, then would I be getting your judgment? But but you know what I'm saying? Like, I did not want to read my bible because I didn't know what he I didn't I didn't wanna see what I was doing wrong. So you could be that person who says, well, I think this. Yeah. Like I I think You don't know the answer. Right. I think the lord's okay with this. You know, I'm I'm sure the lord's probably fine. Well, I don't wanna check. Yeah. You know, like I don't wanna I don't wanna read my bible daily so I can find out how much of a jerk I am, know. Well, as soon as you get past that because you start thinking, not consciously but ignorance is bliss, man. You know, I don't wanna know all the things I'm doing wrong. And the problem is is that
God's salvation is bliss, you know what I'm saying? The fact that someone has died for you no matter what you've done, that should be enough to pump you up anyway, you And to realize that the Lord is judging you but he's already judged He's already put that judgment on his son on your behalf, you know, and to realize that whatever you had coming to you has already been taken from you. And if that gift is not enough for you to realize that the God that you claim to believe in really does love you more than you're willing to admit, then if you can't admit your failings in his eyes, then I don't think you can admit his love for you, you know what I'm saying? Like I think it's a double way to look at And that's the ultimate comparison is that the depths of my sin are equivalent to the depths of God's grace plus one. Right? Like he he's got it and then some. And and and without acknowledging that there are that I am fallible and that there are consequences to my behavior, I can't completely even attempt to understand the depth of God's grace
to be able to look beyond that behavior and still see me and still love me. Mhmm. And so, I I think that's a tough part. So so I guess, know, Well, so I I That's a reasonable question. So have Do we do we think that there are there are churches that have failed to speak the truth and operate according to scripture? Oh, absolutely. Absolutely. And here's why, because they want a bigger crowd. They wanna appease more people, they want people to be more comfortable with what they're doing and not feel guilty or bad or like, wow, I need to change. And if I just water things down, if I just make it really I mean, grace is pretty easy, so I gotta be careful how I say that. But if I make it just like you just be who you are and it doesn't matter, God just accepts you into heaven as you are, then you'll have a bigger crowd. But if you say, wow, here's what God God will accept you as you are, but he wants you to take the next step and I want you to change and I want you to be like him, that that's a whole different ballgame and that's that's Even Jesus had troubles with crowds when he said, okay, here's the deal, here's what I want. And tons of people turned around and left and he's like, well Right. There's a cost. Who who who was that guy like, what do I have to Lord Lord, what do I have to do to follow you? And he's like, sell everything Yeah. You know, and and and follow me and the guy walks away dejected. Mean, he's
he's talking to Christ and he can't get it right. Yeah. What was that what what was that what what book was it in where he the guy wanted to bury his dad? Oh, that was the bible. Sorry. Where he goes he said he come and follow me, you know, and the guy's like, okay, Lord, let me bury my dad first and the Lord says, let the dead bury the dead. Know, see, when I read that, this is the kind of thing, the reason I didn't wanna read my bible because I thought, boy, that guy sounds reasonable. He's my old man. I'm bury my dad. Apart from him sleeping all the time and hit me with the switch, he was okay, you know, I'm pretty sure he loved me, you know. And Jesus says, drop it, it's not important, you know. I'm like, well, I think that's We got things to do. I think that's ridiculous. Yeah. You know, and it takes you a while to get past it and it takes you a while to say, you know, open me up, Lord, I ain't getting it, I'm stonewalling you. Like, you know, it's not like you're fooling him, you know, where you gotta look to the Lord and say, look, I'm not getting it, I'm in total disagreement with you here, you know? Help me help me know why, help me know why, help me to figure out why you you know, why you why this is the way it is. See, here's what's crazy is that churches, you know, yeah, we've done some watering down of things and that kind of stuff, but we have become these marketing machines where we're just trying to market to people. Right. And you know, if you get a little catch a little Jesus along the way, that's cool but we want your attendance, we want your dollars, we want your children in our program so we can compare notes with our friends and say we have a bigger and better, happier, more dynamic church than you have. And it's like we're doing a disservice
to everyone, to believers and non believers alike, rather than saying, here's the deal, here's Jesus, take him or leave him, you know. And I am I'm horrible for people who come to church and want me to do a sales job on them. I don't do it. You know, I just don't do it. I just don't I might call them and say, hey, we know what you think. Can I answer any questions? Something like But I'm not like, you know, we this is what we can offer that x y z church down the road can't because we're awesome and they're not. I mean, that that's you know, what what do people look for when they look for a church? As consumers, because we approach it like consuming Yeah. It's everything wrong compared to what we're talking about. I shouldn't say wrong, but it's not at all on target with what we're talking about. No, that's true. I think maybe to a certain extent, the churches are fallibly trying to meet the demand of a culture that's not actually seeking Christ. Yeah. They're just seeking a don't know And
some of them, you know, cut it short like, know, as long as we get them in the door, let's just get them in here. You know, some are doing it with with a decent frame of mind, they're just misguided. You know, like, let's do whatever it takes, just get them in the door, the Lord will get them from there, you know, and they And we do our best to be relevant. I mean, I'm not Right. Because I don't wanna sound like we're just, know, we're only doing what, you know, no air conditioning in our building, know. I mean, wooden pews. Exactly. But I think that the toughest position to be in is a family who's moved away, they've had a church, they've been connected with and it's it's their home and it's like they're
they've really connected there and they moved to a different community and they're trying to find a church. And every once in while, have people coming through and that's, you know, I guess in the way, we're marketing to them too and and I just feel bad for them because I think it is the hardest thing in the world to try to find a church when you've had one. Yeah. You know, that I mean when you've had that body experience thing like, man, this is my church. And you know, if I were looking for a church, it'd tough because like Well, Pathway is a church I'd look for. You know, I was like the planter guy so it kinda has the stuff I would do. But, know, we look for, has it got the right music? You know? Well, is that really? If you're already a believer, is that the one thing that I'll go to a church that that is biblically messed up, but if they have music I like Right. Is that gonna work? Or,
you know, they have the right comfy chairs. Like sitting down in there because they're fluffy and the other one has a hard chair. Do they have a worshiper of the week? They have a worshiper of week with recliners. Do they have donkeys in parking lot, that kind of stuff. I mean, we look at all the wrong stuff and we should be looking at is it doctrinally pure as far as, you know, is it biblical Well, but that's the thing, it's like what we're talking about, like, do most people know the difference? A lot of people don't. Do do they know if they're doctrinally pure? That's the boring part of the pamphlet and the website, like your missions statement, you're like, alright, yeah, Jesus Yeah, that's true. Here's what we believe. Jesus is the Christ, you know, he died for us, blah blah blah. You're like, whatever. Everyone believes that. But it's not true. No. No. They don't. If you'd get down to like bullet point number 11, you'd realize that maybe you're not You don't quite believe what we're saying. Wait a minute. We we had a family, it was a guy who came a few weeks ago that it was a first time guest and and we ended up like, he came to both services and and was gonna help with like tear down Yeah. Yeah. Then we had supper or lunch with him later and and had actually talked with them a couple three hours. And that was a situation where they've they've lived in one area, solid family sounds like, they're looking for a solid church. And so I asked, well, how how'd you find us? Know, well, found us online, did a search, Googled whatever and read the core values. Oh, yeah. You know, it's like I mean, he did it right, you know? Yeah. Now, from there, was he gonna connect? We don't know. I don't know. I was actually thinking about that guy this week now that you say that. Was weird. He just popped in my head. Uh-huh. Jason. Weird. Yeah. Are you listening to Jason? Jason?
That's a way to close I was like We're thinking of you, Jason, all the time. If you're the next one in, you get the free bozo button. I mean, you know, it's like didn't wanna market it and and like try to sell it. I just said, here's how we here's who we are because it's just like if you try to sell yourself on someone you're dating to marry you, I mean, that only goes so far until they they date you enough you go, yeah, don't think so. Right. Or you think the same toward them. Joining a church is like a marriage, know, like you're really gonna make a commitment. So you can't do it by yourself. I guess so. Problem solved. So it's like it was a pretty frank conversation, well, here's how we are here and here's how we do this and here's our thing and and you know, you'll be able connect or not. Well, think that's true too though. I mean, if you take our church and then there's a church down the road and we share the exact same biblical core values and you pick
the other church, great. If you feel connected over there and you find a body of believers that you're Whatever, go over there. The kingdom hasn't suffered or gained anything, it's believers already going to a different community and the kingdom's fine, the church as a whole is fine. Yeah. We'd love them to connect here, you know, but if if we're not a connection If we're not a good fit, we don't want them to connect here because that'll be awkward for You know, like, I think the one thing that most churches wanna know is like, you know, why not? You know, is there something that we need to work on? But I mean, if you're asking wholeheartedly like, why didn't you choose us, you jerk? World's greatest, don't know. Discerning. I didn't think You saw our website, there's people walking through leaves in a lonely desperate walk towards the Lord or trying to change it. What about that don't you understand? So let me ask you this. What is What's the responsibility of the church then? Like, let's say I'm someone that's looking for a church or I'm in a church. What should I be looking for, Liv, in a church that is supposed to be following Christ? Like, are the characteristics of that church?
Well, you wanna have a church where the number one concern is getting that person or family not only connected with Christ if they haven't been connected yet, but in a growing relationship with Christ. And whatever that means. I mean, whether it's through music and arts and and teaching in small groups and classes and whatever. Yeah. I mean, from there you kinda decide what to go with it. But that's the number one goal is that you're helping them connect with Jesus and and help them grow in their faith so they're not in the stagnant, you know, just going through the motions thing, you know. It's probably a better, deeper answer for that, but that's kinda the nutshell.
Well, think that kinda goes back to a little bit that we were talking about a couple weeks ago about what you do in your life could very well be inconsequential to the Lord as long as you're doing it for him. You like, you could be a bank teller or a plane operator. It could be very inconsequential to what you have going on, unless the Lord has a specific plan for you to do a specific job or whatever, and as long as you're saying, Lord, help me find it, he'll get you there. But not everything is a huge heavy deal and I think your place in the church could very well be the same thing. Like someone says, well, we don't normally have a group between sixth grade and high school, we don't do a preteen group. And someone's like, I'd really like to do that group. Maybe the Lord set it up for this dude. Give something to do in this church. Take their spiritual gifts and let them use it.
I don't suppose you wanna go way crazy with that, but I mean, as long as you're willing to give them something that they can grow in the Lord with and attach themselves to the church with, I don't see anything wrong with it. I mean, wouldn't end the pottery class, but if other people dig the Lord through pottery Yeah, why not? We don't have that. I fall into the trap sometimes as the guy who does the bean counting and comparing the notes and okay, where were we from last year and last quarter, blah blah blah. And I had a family, friends that have been here the last two two Sundays, you know. And I'm
It's like part of me wants the music to always be exciting and dynamic and just go, yeah. And last week it was acoustic week, you know. And, you know, the whole church would just look like they were sleeping the the whole time, you know. So, I I almost felt like I should apologize but I didn't. But, you know, that thing inside me is like, oh, man, I should well, we we just didn't give our best. It's like, people at the same time, they were connecting with God. Yeah. Because, okay, so there wasn't a drummer, you know. Mean Was it? Yeah. What's the big deal? There'll be one next week. You know, it's actually cool to have the a little bit different flavor every week, I think, because it hits people that the other stuff doesn't hit. But I have to remind myself of that. I've done that before too, like I've invited people to church and not that you're the greatest thing ever, but it was your week off. You know, and so we had a guest speaker in, I'm like, oh man, wish I'd invited him when Dan was here, know. We're just like, oh man, Dan's preaching. Oh man, if Dan's not here, they're gonna be so disappointed next week when he comes back. I often wonder if people have to apologize later for like, no man, he usually does better than that. Yeah. That was kind of a downer. There's nothing Actually, that shirt is pretty much what I thought it was gonna be, but the sermon is usually much much better.
And I and I always have the I have to feel like I have to apologize half the time for things that aren't important, you know. Like like last Sunday, the first service, first Okay. I I'm getting ready for church Sunday and you know, I don't like q tip my ears every day or anything but for some reason, thought I'm gonna q tip mine to get my ears all clean, know, it's Jesus day and I don't know, like push too hard. I did something where like, you had like this this I couldn't hear out of my right ear. And it was like, it was really messing with me. I'm like, okay, I damage myself? Could I just push something in? I mean, what would happen? And so, the whole You're like a cartoon character. It was awful. So, the first service, I'm like, I have no idea what I sound like. I can't really hear myself and I'm like, talking real loud. I'm telling you. Actually, that did happen. Me and Dan got in trouble for talking too loud over back by the sound booth. People are trying to worship Jesus. They're like, oh yeah, by the way, I can't hear myself. So I got this thing kind of rigged up. It's gonna be a secret until we get up there. So I really didn't know if I was talking softer to compensate. Because you know, when like your ears are plugged, you hear yourself really well. Yeah. So I didn't know if I was talking normal or if I was talking loud. High Fidelity Dan inside his horn.
So I was thinking more about silly things like that than like, oh by the way, here's here's the scripture for the day. Right. Here's what I've worked on for the last week. Hopefully a little bit Am I gonna sound good doing I gonna have flow? And so, yeah. I get caught in it too. You have to continually remind yourself of what's important and So what I tell you what, what's what's the main what's the main disadvantage to someone not attending a church? Little
Not be We won't even say attending a church, we'll say not being part of a church body. Not having a family. And I mean like, know, sometimes I have friends where like a family member dies and it's like, they don't have a support that people who are already connected, you know, have. They might get friends and say, we're really sorry but but no one's like there. No one Who's at the hospital? You know, when when they're in in trouble? Who's who's celebrating the birth of their baby with them? Know, bringing meals to their house or you know, whatever it is the church Well, what if someone says, have a regular family, I don't need church family for that. They're lying. I I think it translates more specifically to your to your walk with Christ. Like, that's You need the support of a church family. Like, I think God obviously understands this is this is not easy. Right? I mean, the the people that that that will they'll point a finger and say being a Christian is for the weak,
that's that's foolishness. It is tough. It is a tough in a world like this to stick to the to the to the tenets of following Jesus Christ and you need a support system to be able to do it. And I and I think the church was designed for you to recognize that trying to go it alone is foolishness and and in the world that you that that you will be inheriting, the world that you're living in, you're going to need that kind of type of support. And the death in the family I think can equate to people around you failing and then providing examples that aren't Christ like. And that support continues to allow you to to realign your perspective to where it belongs and know that you that there is a resource or an outlet for that type of interaction. And
who's gonna love you enough to sit you down and say, wow, did you realize you're kinda out of control right now? You know, did you know what you're doing? Because we have blind spots Well, that's true and actually, outside of the church family, like socially, that's reprehensible. Know, like you can't just go over to your buddy's house and say, look, you know, and they'll say, who are you to judge? Yeah. You know, but I mean, inside a working relationship with Christ, you can say, listen, we to talk about something here, chief, blah blah blah blah blah. If you're still after a relationship with the Lord and still after trying to walk like Jesus walked, here's how to get there, here's how to get there. And so I could definitely see that as
a huge advantage, really. Because I mean, how else would anyone else know? No one would ever know that I hold a grudge against so and so from back in the day, most people would be like, yeah, he sounds like a real jerk ball. Yeah. I wouldn't like him either, you know? And then Ben can pop up and say, you need to let that go. You need to let that go. If I don't have a church family or someone who's walking with me and trying to help me out Someone who shared the spiritual womb with you. Right, spiritual womb. We hugged most of the time. We did not, we did not hug. Yeah, we didn't. Were butthons. I love you, Ben. I took the north axis of the placenta, you took the south axis. Mine was more roomy, his was air conditioned. Well so let me ask you this, what does a person do, how
Well let's say they're in maybe an unhealthy church situation. Either the church itself isn't healthy or they're not feeling connected. I mean, is it is it Is their responsibility to to change and try to become more amenable to the situation? Is it wrong to church hop and try to find a place where you where you connect? What's the role of it? Well, think there's a There there sometimes is a time to to move on. I mean, you always wanna try to stay as as long as you can. But I think sometimes also churches will will People will hang on too long sometimes. That's a hard that's a tough call. It takes a lot of prayer and discernment, know, where it really, where can God use me? Or or is God using my gifts here? Is he's got am I growing here? Is this a vibrant place? Or is it just a bunch of people sitting around talking about the other church down the road and how bad they are? You know, at some point, I mean sometimes churches lose their way
and sometimes individual churches just need to die. You know, and usually they don't know that for about twenty years till after they're dead already. Right. And you know. So maybe maybe the warning here is that it's not necessarily It's not wrong to go to find a place where you connect but make sure that you're looking for the right things when you're going church to church. Like you're not If you're passing on a church because they have sound doctrine but you're not happy with the chairs they've chosen or that the church service time is off by fifteen minutes and not amenable to you. Like you're putting a barrier in between you and that body of folks, a new But Christ it certainly isn't wrong to evaluate and make sure that you're part of a church body
that has the core values that are biblically consistent with what a church can and should be. I did that when I first came to Pathway. I didn't like it at all. Like, they asked me to sat in, Troy asked me if I could sit down on a piano for Sunday and I hadn't been going to church and I thought, yeah, yeah, I better go, know, it sounds like something I probably better do. And so I went and I'm like, who are these people? We're having service in an auditorium, the pastor's dressed like some kind of court jester and they're talking about masturbation. Like I just, this is ridiculous. You wanna read that thing? Yeah. Really, really? Yeah. That's awesome. Yeah. It was solid. Awesome. Crap. You know, I just can't, you know, I thought I thought this is this is outrageous. Okay, so first of all, I didn't care a lick about the biblical doctrine or whether it was falling by word, I'm like, this is an auditorium, look at this weird guy, he's like seven foot tall, he's freaking me out. What color shirt do they have on? The band's alright, it was multicolored just as you do. Yes. Like Toucan Sam threw up on you. Nice. And
I didn't like it but I thought, you know, I should be playing piano for the Lord and so I better go. I'll come back again. The band was alright, they were doing okay. I liked the worship leader guy, he seemed pretty nice and whatever. And so I kept coming back and I kept coming back. Christian hip. Yeah. And so I kept coming back and finally I kinda I kinda started to get it, you know, and it was as soon as because we were about to buy the ministry center and and Ben was there and and Ben stopped by and I remember I remember thinking, yeah, construction, yeah, we should get in on this. And then and then and then I volunteered to whatever, you know, talk about the ministry, go look at it or something. And I thought, I'm totally not doing anything that I'm supposed to here. Like, I'm not paying any attention to whatever you're saying, you know, like, just didn't care, I was like, it's nice to be going to church again, know, whatever. For the time. You know, and then, I mean, it's probably taken me, you know, it probably took me two years before I was going to this, I was going to our church for the biblical message and not for, you know, the The shirt. Yeah, the shirt. The the mug.

Last night, was I'm I'm I'm getting I usually do like a a compilation video for the girls' birthday, like I take their year in pictures or whatever and put it to a tune or jazz. I stole the idea from Ben because he did these things but he was doing one like every six weeks. I'm like, once a year, that's probably We call this February. Yeah. So every Once a year, I And so I've only done one and my daughter's three and so I got a couple to catch up on. So it's taken me like weeks to move all these pictures onto one computer so I can do this or whatever. And so I'm I'm moving them four gigs at a time with a flash drive, it's just taking me forever. So I'm waiting for it to transfer, I'm surfing the net and I decide I'm gonna look up Westborough
Baptist Church's website. This is a total mistake. Once again, Westborough's the crazy people that, you know, whatever, protest the the funerals and whatever, they're they're whack jobs, they're absolutely outrageous. They marry themselves. I'm pretty sure they would if as soon as they could find the hidden book of the bible that they keep inside their basement that says it's okay. But anyway, they they their websites, they gotta own like 12 of them and one of them is like barackbeast.com or beastbarack.com, because they don't like Obama, you know, whatever. And so they've put like devil hordes on him and and they're trying to explain on how he's the the, you know, second coming of the antichrist in this kind of jazz. And it's whoever's done their website design has actually done a fairly good job. Like, they're fairly slick operations, you know, things pop up, it's kinda modern and hip, but the content
is just deplorable. Like, I've never seen such a waste of time in my life. So if you get on there, are you like on the FBI watch list or anything? You know, I bet I was thinking about that last night. I was like, better not I was gonna click on here, I don't know if I want to. Well, what do you care what they're watching, Danny? Well, have enough other things they're probably watching. Yeah. That's true. This guy really likes his gun on her feet. Yeah. Is that an NRA hat he's got on? I usually buy those things just to annoy people. Yeah, well. Yeah. I tell you what, if if you ever want a good laugh and you're fairly strong in your Christian faith and don't think you can get sucked into this kind of deal, you know, go check it out. You have whatever incendiary remark you can think of that they've ever made, they own a website. Like, they hate they own godhateswhatever.com, you know, every everything. Whatever they think that god hates, they own the website too. They have a blog where they where they say something happened, they're like, you know, there's a natural disaster in Chile and they'll be like, well, Chile's a godless nation and God's finally taken him out, redemption is at hand, Godsmack. And they write Godsmack with an exclamation point after every time they think they're making a big solid point. Should we get Godsmack t shirts? That's a band. Yeah, it's band. There's like a You look like you'd be supporting a band. Yeah. Oh. Yeah, it's hard to disappoint, Dan. Could we have like maybe somebody getting hurt? Would it be Lightning striking or something and God strike. It's a terrible idea. God,
How about that committee? Yeah, the chat wants to know what you think you're on a watch list already. Well, that's my my fear could be. I mean, I've got a conceal carry permit. This plays into your jikes. Carrying the real thing your mind anyway. Oh, it's all political. Yeah. We never see the real deal. Yeah. They didn't really spill oil. They spilled Coke. Coke got traded millions to the government to subsidize the spill, and then BP took the fall for tax breaks in London. These are the things you see. That's the kind of stuff that you think. Yep. You like you see my website. Coke spill, not oilspill.com.
God hates Coke spills. I can't believe no one owned this already. He likes he likes to portray you as a Ned Kaczynski, like, I'm not near as much of a lunatic but very much a conspiracist. Like you're darn your own socks while looking at weird coincidence websites. Idaho was named the same time that a ship named Idaho came in France. Coincidence? Think not. Carrots weren't the ones before Eisenhower. How do you think that happened? The Japs. The Japs.
Those internationals from The Middle East, they cause all kinds of trouble. Alright. So so I guess to maybe summarize what we touched on before we hit the break was that I might can't see the microphone, did see it? I saw it. It doesn't seem possible to to to go with the the lone Jesus follower. You can't you can't follow you can't follow Christ and not and and opt out of the church because of what negative thing you have happened to What if you're a deep cover missionary in Uganda? You're a one man show. Yeah. But you're still you're still providing you're still part of the part of the body. You're being provided support from the body, as a matter of fact. You didn't tell anybody you were going thinking they would rat you out. You were just on your own. You just got up and left one day. Why are you trying to come up with some kind of ridiculous, like, Ugandan missionary who refuses to tell any of the covert Jesus man and you're wearing a just so you could say people in certain circumstances, you're not part of the church. You're wearing a sackcloth for no reason. You're out there. You're a different kind of cat. You can well, hey, you know, I I guess the other thing is is if if we look at this from a different perspective, you're also denying
the body what God is expecting you provide to the body. Like, it's not it's not only the fact that you're missing out by not being part of the body of Christ but like, there are there are there are spiritual gifts that you've been provided by God to help serve people and and within the body and you're denying the body that by opting out and saying, you know, everyone's a hypocrite and swindler and I'm not gonna follow it. I'm just gonna do the one on one god thing. You're that nasty piece of puzzle that fell on the floor and got kicked under the couch and nobody can find it. And it's the same on both sides. It's aggravating. And it's wearing a loincloth. Is that what you wanted, Mike? Where's that puzzle? It's not complete without that piece. That puzzle is double pre blast. Alright. Well, so well well, okay. Let let me ask this question then. So what's the what's the conversation friendly response to a guy that says like those people that we saw in the video who say Yeah, let's practice. You ask me if I go to church and I will give a you ask me, I will give a reason and you will rebut me. It's a round robin. Okay. Ready, Dan? Alright. Here it is. Hey, man. Hey, man.
What's up? I don't know how to respond to that. Well, I'm just if I'm just standing on a street corner, you come up and go, hey man, I'm gonna expect you want money from Okay. What's our situation? We've never met before? Yeah. We're we're I'm just coming up here on the street. Right? Yeah. Yeah. Should at least be someone at work. I mean Okay. I'm washing windows. You're washing windows What do I do? You're just a guy trying to spread the gospel. I work in the office with Yeah. You're washing windows? I'm washing windows at a coffee shop and you're just done getting coffee. Okay. Hey, man. Hey, that that those windows look great. Hey, thanks. Thanks. Thanks, brother. You from is your company from around here? Yeah. Well, I've I've been yeah. I've been watching these windows for a while. Well, I think they look good. Was commenting to Betty at the counter that they look good. I've been doing the same spot for a couple minutes. It should be appreciated. There are no streaks.
Whatever. Hey. So do you go to church around here? You did you go to church? What do mean, like church church? No. I haven't gone for years. Why not? I don't know. It just seems to me that, you know, every time I go, just want cash from me, you know. I walk in the door and there 's a million people descending on me trying to talk to me about this and this. Was like, you know, I God is great all the time. He can be great at my house. There's no reason for me to go. Do you know that God hates church sissies? Church sissies? You're a church sissy. Where'd you come from?
You got a smear on your window. You judgmental Christian jerk. You hiddled consumer. How dare you? I just put nose grease on your window. Clean that buster. Now give me your tithe, Pagan. That's right. Okay. So no ever tithe team, no missionary team. What is it that you said your spiritual gift was? I don't really have any. I haven't opened them yet. God hates church sissies Waiting for christmas..com. And that fails as an answer. I'm gonna set you back up again. So you go to church around here? I haven't been in years blah blah blah. Hypocritical Christians come to me all the time. They're trying to get me to take their money. Was like, I can just worship God at home. No, you can't. We have an outreach ministry, right? Sorry. I need you to talk to Keith He's better at this. He's very much better. He's especially on the greeter team. Okay. Let's try it again. Daniel, you asked me Ben Europe. Alright. Alright. Go ahead, Dan. Hey. You're the I got
my wind wall dirty. So so where are going to church these days? I haven't been in years. Slacker? Dan is out. We can't I don't I don't know how we let him outside. What's wrong with you? We're gonna put him in a cage and have people come by and look at him. Yo, you're gonna dive in these days? My my conveniently placed a fold to god side, it turns out you're going to hell. You look like a deteriorating finger in an underwear drawer. This is a mistake. Okay. I will play both parts, you will you will respond. Alright. Alright. Dan, read that read your digital bible until you come up with something better. Okay. Hey hey, brother. How's it been? Fine. How long has it been since you've been church? Oh, I haven't been forever. I don't go anymore. They just always seem like they want my money and and I I don't know. They just I it it just feels like it's more of a show than anything. Well, you know, I've been going to church for quite while and, you know, to a certain extent, I I agree with you. I mean What?
I You're didn't read out. You're you're in penalty in the corner. You know, the church is full of people. People are fallible and that's that's the deal but we can recognize that through through Jesus Christ that we can we can be saved from our fallibilities. I can recognize that from my house. What do I need to go to your building for? Well, so so you believe in God? Yeah. Of course, I do. Well, it's and and the bible, I would assume. If believe in God, you believe in the bible? Yeah. I look at it every once in a while. Okay. Well, one I guess one of the things a belief in God is the Bible is God's word and God actually talks about the benefits and and basically his his dictate of of being part of the being part of the church. Yeah. But I think that was a church like, you know, the long ago church. I mean, church today is not what the what what God meant it to be. Well, and I, you know, I I think to a certain extent, you might have a point there. And I think there again, the farther as a as a a or as a nation, as a people that we get away from God, the church stops looking like the church that God intended to be. But but then again, he doesn't exempt us from being a part of a of a church body just because we think it's heading in the wrong direction. I mean, what you're kinda doing is just closing your eyes and saying, I I I don't have to deal with this. God has given me responsibility but I'm just gonna, I get to bow out of it because it's not what I want. And you know, if it you know, again, if you have a belief in Christ, I you know, and he says I want you to be part of this body, that's kind of a weird position to take. Would you like to share a womb with me? Church You're pretty close. What church do you go to? I go to I go to Pathway Church in Johnston. And I guess let me let me You're not one of them hip churches that like, I don't know, like, come as you are, you know, whatever, just here's here's some food, let's talk amongst ourselves kind of thing. I'll tell you that as a as a church, we we strive to be consistent with bib with bible teachings. So, I mean, you you find a place for me in the bible where it says you gotta have press press slacks,
you know, we'll probably change your ways. But to this point, we want you we do want you to come as you are because that's that's where Jesus is willing to meet you. Well, that sounds that sounds just great. Alright. I've try I gotta finish washing this window, but it was nice talking to you, dude. Yeah. Yeah. Let me go ahead and give you one of our cards from the church and I'd love if you can come by. Just make sure if you stop by, come find me. I can introduce you to folks. Okay. Cool. It's nice to meet you. Alright. Your tithe letter's in the mail. Because Did you know that jerk face that was here earlier? We're we're praying for him. Just tell me he won't be there. He's he's one we're trying to push into self self worship. Have you ever thought of a nice boat on a lake? Daniel, have you ever thought of starting a house church? We think you'd be great. Kind of a grassroots thing? You're an outhouse? Go ahead and practice at home for a couple weeks.
Maybe you should stream at YouTube. I don't know. Cheesy? I don't know. Honest, maybe. Here's the thing, like, I think everybody's afraid of sounding cheesy. I think everybody's afraid of of using a God cliche and and you know what? The way to get around that is to get your nose in your bible. Know, I mean, take take take all the popular phrases that people usually use to get people to church and realize that there's 300 other ones that you can use in the same book. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. There's there's there's just almost unlimited amounts of things you can say that prove God's love, that's what the bible is, you know. And so, you know, if you're tired of hearing the same old thing, you know, do something inventive. Be creative, man. Well, I I guess Take up interpretive dance. Do you think it's possible to to drive the thing the wrong wrong direction? Because one of the things that, like, the guy that says, you know, I follow Christ, I just do it at home, he's being inconsistent. Like He's not truly following. Well, right right. So, I mean, is it wrong to say, you know, maybe we're not talking about the same thing here? What's a better way to put it? What's a better way to put it besides, you know, if you believe in the bible, then then, you know, if and you believe it's god's it's god's inspired word, you know, the church is is is a sanction by him. The Lord set it up, you know. He set it up, he set you up with spiritual gifts to be a part of it. Well, guess what am I afraid of is like if I say, well, you know, but God said, you know, you start describing what the bible says about about the church body and the bride of Christ. I don't know how you can bow out of being Christ's bride.
If, you know, if if the church is as important to the extent that he says, this is, you know, this is my bride and then say, well, you know what, I'm out. I'm out of this. But I'd like to be a second cousin of Christ, you know. Exactly. If I could be the first bride I show them for a while, I I drink a few, I do something funny and then I go to the hotel. But like, I I mean, that seems that seems appropriate because that either goes one or two ways as they think about it or I suppose they could just bypass it but but is it likely they can say, you know, you're right, that isn't consistent. I don't believe in God anymore. Like that's not likely. Well, but It's not likely. But tell me how many times God surprised you with something like that though, where you've said something and you thought, boy, this is not gonna go over very well, you know, and you said it and they said, okay, you know, or they at least half listened, know. Yeah. Because because I think you always have the the worst result in your head, you know, what's gonna happen. Like, you're gonna say, you know, know, I I I go to church here and here, would you like to come and, you know, you always think that they're gonna give you the you know, and then walk away and then get on their motorcycle and you know, go cause trouble. You know, in a sackcloth. We're gonna get milkshakes and cause some trouble. They'll be sorry. We're gonna put Pop Rocks in your soda. Wait. Come on, Doug Larson. We're out. Can we kill a puppy? Anyway, but you know what I'm saying? Like, always have the worst outcome
pictured and and more times than not, you know, when I muster enough strength to say, Lord, help me do this and I go do it, it doesn't turn out near as bad as I thought it was gonna be and frankly, I'm glad it's over with. You know, that sounds kinda weird but like, I'm glad I've done it, I'm glad I've talked to whoever it is and if they've wanted nothing to do with it, then whatever, at least they know where I stand and I You know, have to I don't have to There's nothing else I can do here, you know? I kinda like that. Yeah. Alright. I'm gonna go find a guy washing windows at the coffee shop. Maybe that's the new maybe that's the new approach, witnessing, get it over with. That's a good propaganda piece. Just just And you know what? There's a lot of truth to that. Get it over with either way. You know, bring it up to them so so, you know, you've invited them, do it wholeheartedly, do it earnestly, you know. But and and if they say no, then, you know, at least they know where you stand on it and it's not gonna be a confusing issue. Mhmm. And and if they say yes, then whiz bang. Yeah. Pick them up. See, you know, the most awkward thing is of having someone find out that you follow Christ and you weren't the one that that gave the example or like Yeah. Told them. Yeah. Because that's embarrassing. Yeah. I mean, it's like, what have you been up to? That's true. Yeah. Like when they witnessed you. Yeah. Like when they witnessed you. Okay. You can listen to Life on the Path on demoinamplified.com. Coming up next week, just to to give you a heads up, we're gonna try you know, we were thinking about what direction we could what direction we could provide for someone who's, I guess, Christ curious.
Like, someone who who maybe has has been has not had a relationship with God, may be interested, may be seen at some time or other but like, hey, man, I can see you walking me. Are you gonna stop it? Sorry. That's it. I'm switching to the Ben only cam. Where's my where where are you at, Eagle massage? There's Big Ben right there. Hey, everybody. This is just old Ben talking to you one on Wanna get married? Hey, Ben. What's Look at DVD. Hey, could you do a Ben Ben cam? Yeah. Yeah. I could probably do that. I'll work on it. Alright. So anyway, so I guess next week we're gonna try we're gonna talk we wanna talk about where do I start? So if I'm if I'm interested in following Christ or just interested in God in general and I just I just don't know where to start. I'm not sure what I really believe. I'm not sure what's true and what's not true. What can I start doing to kind of pursue that? Or I guess same on that same road, if I've if I walked away from God,
where do I start? Now what do I do? Like if I I I felt like I I had it down when I was, you know, in fourth or fifth grade and then I stopped going to Sunday school and we moved away and I just haven't been back and I don't even know what to do. These might be good things too for if you're a little unsure on how to approach someone in that situation as the witness Witnesser. That you wanna talk to somebody and you're like, I just don't I don't know even know come close what to tell them. You find someone that's been disheveled with God and and you just don't know how to how to even approach it, know, maybe we'll hit some of that too. Yeah. And so like, if you if you know of anybody that might be interested in that conversation and they wanna kinda listen to it in a, I don't know, a safe manner, they don't have to look at us, they're not gonna be in the room here, we're just gonna be guys sitting around talking, I think we'll probably share a lot of our own experiences as far as, you know, coming to Christ and, you know, if there were times where we felt separated, that kind of thing and how our how our journeys have gone. That's that's a little too high ended for me, how our lives have been led. I don't know how to say it. We're all on a journey, a spiritual journey. Yeah. I feel blessed. I can't say stuff like that. I know. Yeah. I don't get away that. I don't like it when they heavy it up. Anyway,
next week, that's what we're Hey, did you tell Vance Lambert's gonna be on the Christian Music Awards? Oh, yeah. I sent that out. If you if you had signed up for the newsletter, you would have known. Vance Lambert, who's a friend of the show and who was who was on the show Did you check with him first before you call him a friend of the show? No. Is that we're just a one ended friendship here? Yeah, whatever. Let's say let's say that we creep him out, he's I he's still a friendly to me. Well, can we claim other people to be friend of the show? Sure. Like, who do you wanna say? Julio Iglesias? We've not engaged with him. You're not just because you're not signed up for the newsletter, Conn. Go to the website and sign up for the newsletter and then you will get the newsletter. Yeah. So anyway, Lance Lambert is scheduled to appear on the Christian Music Awards, scheduled in TBN sometime in November. Correct? Yeah. It was so it was recorded this week. Yeah. And then he's yeah. They'll probably be showing within the next couple weeks. Sounded pretty cool. It was it was
he was playing back out he was playing guitar with Robert Mouti, I think is how it said. That's cool. Yeah. It was I thought it was pretty cool. Yeah. I'm not on the Christian musical awards and I'm like, I'm pretty cool. I don't get that channel though. I'm gonna have to get a pirated copy and just take a look at it. Pirated copy? Yeah. Someone has to put it on YouTube or something. I'm sure. Yeah. Whatever. We'll keep an eye out for it. Yeah. Yeah. It'll be fantastic. Yeah. I can't forget any awards. So Yeah. Check him out. You get his you can check out his website at vancelambert.com. He's got a a CD for sale. He posts like fresh music every once in a while. We had to do the live from the Path Awards. Yeah. An annual thing, bring people in. I will be up for host of the year. Yes. I probably won't win nothing. Are pirates biblical? Is that what you're asking me? Or a pirated copy of self pirates biblical? Are they in the bible? I was in the Saint Thomas book that was left out
because I'm not a Catholic. Alright. Yeah. Think that's fine. If they generally post it on YouTube, that seems appropriate. Well, then you maybe shouldn't use the word pirated. What that's what he put. That's you said you were gonna get a pirate copy. Pirating biblical. Like like being an actual pirate? No. No. Don't think so. Long John Silver? Stop skirting the issue. Are you stealing movies? No. No, I'm not. Let me ask you this though. So, like, let's say broadcast TV has a has a show on that I just can't catch. I'm not there to catch it. Is it is it wrong to download that show, watch it once and then delete it? Where'd you download it from? From from other people distributing it? Some guys recorded it. Well, no, he he coulda had it legitimately. Let's say he bought the DVDs or whatever. Like, bought it legitimately. I I wanna watch it. I just couldn't I just couldn't watch it that So I downloaded, watch it and then delete it. So I I I'm using it the same amount of times that somebody else used it. Nope. That is that is no good. Oh, man. Why?
That's it. What was that what's that movie? Rosebud. What is it? Citizen Kane. Citizen Kane. So I didn't get to see Citizen Kane because I wasn't alive when it came out. So I get to download it now once and watch it and then get rid of it. I think they stopped making money on that one a long time ago. We'll put something more fresh, ET. Yeah. But what if they put well, yeah, that's that's worse. Because like if that's that's like saying ET was on ABC Family Movie of the Week and I I didn't get to see it, so then I go download ET, watch it and delete it because it was available for free. Mean, it's one of those things like if you have the movie, you could lend him the movie and it's legal. I just don't happen to know the guy that's lending it to me. Yeah. But you're trying to say that you're entitled to do everything all the time and if you don't happen to do everything all the time, then you should be able to tell her to do it later. I don't know. Well, let let me ask that. Isn't the same example, like, if I what if I buy a CD and I lose it? Is it okay to download it like two years later? No. I want it? Yeah. But then what's the consequence for your actions? There has to be an impact from me losing my CD. Well, like me saying that I wrecked my car and then I expect to I go steal a car that looked just like the other one Off the lot. Because I wrecked wrecked mine. Like I help if someone ran into my car. Crap. Trust me, I don't like the words coming out of my mouth. I love to steal music off the internet and that's kind of my deal but
it's not right. It's flat out, it's not gonna work. Bummer. Steal the car, that's that's an awesome example. I love it. I have to go buy stuff. Return your goods. So, there there are situations where it's awfully tempting but you go back to it and it's like, yeah, we're like, really not giving them the money they Well, but like that was one of things with the TV shows, like I wasn't gonna it's not like I'm buying anything to begin with, I just happen to not be available. Said if it's a TV show, they generate their income through the advertising. So if you are, you know, absorbing the advertisements and taking notes Because the guy watching it takes notes? Yes. I wouldn't take notes if I were watching it live. See, I I I DVR stuff and then I flip through the commercials and never watch them. Well, so because I'm paying the DVR charge, I suppose. So you're okay to pirate stuff because you paid extra money from a third party to record it and watch it. Yeah. Your morality is for sale to to a third party TV guy. Well, Through directory of TV. Right. But it's totally acceptable, right? Direct coming from the same place. They allow you to do a DVR. So the only I'm just tech because I don't have the DVR, we're not talking about the ability to to watch it later because you couldn't watch at the same time, we're talking about I just don't have the equipment to be morally right in this situation. Is that what we're saying? Doesn't seem like Well, that really puts a shade on it now, doesn't it? Because I was totally against it but now I'm thinking, well, I mean, if they allow you to record it and watch it later on DVR and Of course, they're charging you for that. Yeah. But they're an unnecessary middleman. Yeah. They're not paying the distributor That's like me that's like a store selling an orange for 50¢, a guy buying it and then selling it to me for 60 within five foot of the orange. You know what I'm saying? Like, it's an unnecessary middleman that they're charging you for this thing when they could just as well give it away. Okay. So I can do it then, right? Well, I think I'm on board with Ben now.
TV shows only? Well, okay now, Okay. Put put Dan's situation in context of the car. How does it relate to the car example? You have insurance. Yeah. You're paying the third party to restore your car to how it originally was. Dan's situation is like having insurance. So do I get to I get to watch or don't I? No. Give me $3 and you can do it. I will send $3 to the production company. I mean, like at church, we pay a yearly fee to use all the music Yeah. That we use just just to shine in on the screen, you know. It's
we're supposed to keep track of all that stuff and What? Let them know. You pay it? Yeah. We pay it? Yeah. Okay. Taking it from someone that stole it in the first place doesn't make a right. I'm not assuming that I'm stealing it from an illegitimate party, Vance. I'm saying that a legitimate man has it and he's put it to to share with Yeah. Let's say I own The Goonies on DVD. I burn it to my computer and then it's available for internet download. I own Goonies. I'm not watching it when the other guy's watching it. Is it your fault someone else download for making it available for other people to take? Yeah. Yeah. If I leave my front door open and someone robs me, am I just as guilty as the guy that robbed me? Can't you just go to what is it? The Leo or whatever, Hulu. Julio.com. Julio Iglesias. Hold on. I've never done it. I'm checking on this julio.com
business. You better watch yourself. I'm gonna regret it. Oh. What looks to be a clothing women's clothing line. Woah, man. There's a bunch of werewolf looking ladies in this thing. Hang on a minute. Look at this hold on. Yikes. There she goes. She's wearing a pea coat. There she is. Boy, that woman was freaky looking. My wife tried to get me to buy a pea coat earlier this week. I'd say no. You're a sucker. Pea coat. You know what that is? Yeah, I do. Well, for dudes they call I have six of them. For dudes they call it a stadium coat. I don't know why. Sticking peacoat. I I I don't know why. Like who thinks, I love the stadium. Can we catch the essence of it, the piece of clothing? I just don't understand. Yeah. Like a It's like a house coat? Or no, the peacoat's one of those real thick ones. Right? Yeah. Like, goes down to the It's short. I mean, it's It's not not To your waist or something. Yeah. Yeah. No. It's not extremely effeminate, but it's borderline. Hey, have you guys ever gotten into a fight? Have you ever come to, like, either fist to cuffs or almost fist to cuffs with somebody?
I never have. No? Mike? Yeah. Where did you get into fist to cuffs with somebody? I've gotten close to fist to cuffs and I fought Joey Osborne in third grade up by the basketball court. What was what was the matter? I can't I think he was just a community punching bag and he was running his mouth about something. I didn't really hit him in the face or anything, was like I punched him in the back or something. I made a run back. Were Way to go. Honored. Did. That guy tried to fight me once. Well, did you duck? Well, He came up and punched me in the gut and I laughed at him. I thought he was joking and he's like, but that didn't hurt. I was like, are you serious? What happened? So he kinda walked away like, oh, okay. So that happened? That's all you got? Boy, I'm hungry. I know. It's like, it's on the playground. Well, that's Well, have you have you ever been in a situation where you felt like you host the fisticuffs?
Like, where it could Like, where you you were thinking in your head, this this could come to blows. I have ran my mouth to the point that someone has said it will come to fisticuffs if you continue and How did it go? Tell me the story. It was was In the church? I was Yeah. I was I was in the womb. I was legitimately wronged at my place of business when I used to be a construction worker and I and and the guy was was
making a big big deal out of it, know, like like he was just saying a bunch of stuff that wasn't true, whatever, trying to get me to look like a big jerk or whatever. And so, I said a couple things and I, you know, I think I was fairly even keel about it and I basically characterized his personality in a short sentence and Go ahead. Anyway, he said a couple more things and I said a couple more things back and he said, basically it boils down to, look, if you wanna keep this up, we can settle this outside. And I said I said something smart alecky like, well, if I thought your fat, you know, or your fat belly could make it outside, maybe I'd meet you out there. And blah blah blah. So he come he kinda come walking up at me and then I had to drop it. I said Never mind. I said, well, we'll do this. This one time,
same job, this guy was he was I walked into a room and it it was I said to a guy, I said, man, it's smelly, you're smelly. And it wasn't smelly, like, was just normal, you know. And I said, you know, I let it go for a couple minutes and I said, seriously, there's something very funky in this room and I'm fairly certain it's you, fella, you're a smelly man. And unbeknownst to me, he was very upset by this, didn't say anything to me. And he goes and he goes, listen, if you wanna keep running your mouth, then we can settle this right here. And I said, why don't we just meet at the flagpole, 03:00 if you got some free time on your hands? Once again, totally unbeknownst to me, I think we're just doof doof doofing around. He's mad. He's real mad. So he he's out of my car when I'm walking out to work and he goes, you ready to do this mouth? And I said, mouth? I haven't been called that for years, you've been talking to my mom? You know? And and he was mad and he had to be physically restrained not to pound me to the pavement and I ended up apologizing to this guy like the day after like I I had to go up to him and say, listen, I tend to talk to people like I've known them for years and I have the personality of an ape, I apologize, I way overstep my bounds and I said, if you're still upset at me, I totally understand but I want you to know that I didn't mean anything by it, I just I can't control my tongue sometimes, I'm an idiot, you know. And he said, it's okay, he goes, but you need to watch your mouth and watch who you're talking to like that because you are gonna get your and I said, probably. I said, but I appreciate you not being you. It wasn't you. I totally had it coming. This has like been a problem my whole life like I like I mean and I prey on it constantly about watching my tongue. Was just reading James last night and I'm like, he wrote it for me, why is that Stupid tongue, it's just I mean, it's just awful. Like I said, stuff will come out of my mouth and I'm like, why
would I even say anything like that? That is ridiculous. I don't know. Those are the two That's funny. Yeah. It's never been like, I've been upset, you know, like personally wrong, like someone is upset at me and I'm not catching the drift that they're upset and so I just keep on talking like we're buddies and then they get mad. Yeah. That's happened a couple times. That's funny. That's scrimmage was in football, but I mean, was just, you know, that's just that's a part of the game. Yeah. I don't think I've ever been in an altercation. I for some reason, I think I seem to think that I got in some kind of like, I didn't instigate it nor why I was either the main guy, but I was a part of some sort of rumble in the Godfather's Pizza parking lot. Was there for I was there for that. There were two dudes confrontationalizing, Amano Amano and Ben decides he's gonna stick his face in there so he gets between them and the dude spits it big. Yeah. And That's what it I thought, I wasn't I wasn't you know, mad. Thought, gross. Why did he spit?
You know, you could have thrown a punch or something, know. Did you have to spit? That's disgusting. If Big takes off his glasses and wipes them like, oh, well this is just a sad sight. You know, I can't I don't wanna watch this. Oh, you know what, another time mom's gonna fight is when we put It was really cold outside and we dumped water on a guy's windshield and and let it harden there and just kept doing it like every half hour, was freezing. Oh, yeah. And so we throw We put on there a layer of Put on there a layer of freezing and boy, this guy went mad when he came back in. Yeah. He was pretty pissed about that. Yeah. I don't know what to do. Yeah. He didn't spit, which was a bonus. Yeah. He just yelled for a while. Well, he was The ultimate and I I don't We never got around pulling this off, but this was the ultimate prank that we were thinking of, is there was a kid that really irritated us and we thought what we would do is take some of that You know how they etch glass, you know, like so it looks frosted? Oh, yeah yeah. Yeah. So we thought we'd take some of that and try to sneak it into his windshield wiper reservoir. Yeah. So so then he would he would turn it on and try to wipe his windshield and it would get like worse and worse. Except very well could cause an accident. Yeah. We decided not to do it, but we thought, boy, if we were different folks, this is a genius. That would have been awesome. By the way, that is not endorsed or affiliated with Life From The Path. Oh, no. Don't do it. But it would be funny if you did. But don't do it. Maybe you can just go get someone else's windshield since yours was ruined for free. Talk about it. I regret that. I should've brought her up. Ignorance is bliss. I'm telling you. You wanna open that bible, you'll be sorry. I'm just kidding. Open it. Yeah. Yeah. It's best to know. So, Michael, what was know Dan and I were at we're at the church camp this week, you went you went on the trash dive, did you find anything good this week? I did. I got a scroll saw and a drill and a drill press. Oh. All working condition? Yep. Checking both out. Wow. And I think the guy must have just given up. You know, it might be getting a little older and he thought, don't wanna do this anymore. And so he's chucking it. And so I picked him up, crash Whiz bang. Wow. Those are pretty good finds. I don't have any hits on my salon chair. Yeah. It's still in my storage shed, by the way. I I Did you give me some fresh pictures? I need to put it back up on the eBay. I need to get it out of my storage shed.
Did you take pictures though? It's in a storage shed. You take pictures and I'll sell it and then I'll come get it out of your shed. Otherwise, I'm leaving it in there. I feel like I'm being blackmailed here. Like, if I don't take pictures of it so you could sell it, then it's gonna stay in my storage shed. Yeah. That's what happens when the wind blows in from the Northeast. I don't understand that, by the way. Have we talked about this, the wind yet? Uh-uh. No. So when they say the wind, they say we got a north Let's say we got a northeasterly wind, does that mean it's coming from the Southwest and moving northeast? Like they say, we got a wind out of the Southwest, is that a northeasterly wind? So it seems like they say it two ways, right? They say, we got wind out of the Southwest or they say, we got a northeast wind. Is that the exact same thing? I think the I think when it's When they say, like, it's a northeast wind, I think it's the It's coming from the North.
Because what a nor'easter was is bringing in cold and cold has to come from north, it's coming from like Canada and and South Dakota and stuff. You just attached a semi word that sounded like the one I said and then acted like it was totally cohesive. A nor'easter? You took the name of a storm and then compared it to the description of wind. Wait a minute. That's not apples to apples. Hold on. Northeast wind is out of the wind? What does that mean? I can't trust the chat for anything. They say stuff like that. Please please confirm, Northeast wind is out of the north. Okay, yeah. It's actually moving Southwest. Yes. If it's coming from the Northeast, it's moving towards the Southwest. Makes sense. Wait, can it be coming from the North but going a different direction?
Like it blows the system is moving in from the Northeast but blows West? Wind can only move one direction. Can it? Does wind go the same way as the weather pattern is also moving? Like as the jet stream? I don't understand meteorological terms. Things Yeah and actually, wind is only going it's time it's it's a time measurement as well, right? Like a wind is only going a certain direction at that exact point in time. You know, it's not like the wind is continual and only moves, you know, once it comes from somewhere, it goes straight that way, it could within the next second, it could change rest. Right. Because because like a a storm system doesn't move at the same rate as the wind within the system.
You know what saying? Just because you have 70 mile an hour winds doesn't mean the storm system is moving at 70 miles an hour. Right. It's going in a circular pattern probably. Yeah. I don't understand But what is wind? It's Jesus. I hate Jesus. Trying remind us that you have on your shoulder. Are you going to church? Trying to blow the cover of the bible open so maybe you'll look at it once in a while. Trying to find a way to replace the rainbow. Yeah. Trying to trying to blow the one man church out of his place. Get out of there. Look, two of them are blown together now. Now there's two. There's a shelter at the Presbyterian down the hall. For some reason, the the whole weather thing, you know, it never stuck with me. I in school, you'd study it with the names of the clouds and stuff and I like I I was and I was interested. I wanted to know Yeah. Usually if I was interested, it would stick. But for some reason, clouds never did. It's like there's cumulus and hey, actually, think I was trying to think of jokes from my daughter for Halloween. Check out this one. K. Ready? Speaking of clouds. K. What kind of cloud doesn't laugh at jokes? What kind? A serious cloud.
Serious. Serious. Did I tell you the jokes that I came up with Grace for Halloween? No. Knock knock. Who's there? Hatch. Hatch who? Bless you. Hatchoo. That's pretty funny. Yeah. She tells it like a champ. Nice. Nice. Yeah. It's funny when she does it because she's three. It's Oh, yeah. It's not as funny when I was It's less funny when you do it. Yeah. I would agree. You know, it's it's kinda sad when when your youngest gets to that point when they're just like, yeah, I'm pretty much done with this. And they're like, oh, I guess I was really geared up for this year. I like these. I was gonna be speed racer. My underdog costume
away. I guess I'll just go by myself this year. That's when you know they're like they're leaving like childhood, know, going into adolescence. That is kinda sad. Yeah. That's kinda sad. Maybe you guys should have another one. I've been promoting that for for years. Is that going well? Ever since that surgery. It's problematic. I wanna make sure it works now. What am I gonna do with We should your try. Destroy the costume. Used to go Ben was for one year, Ben was a vacuum salesman and he used to he carried a toy vacuum with him and he'd have the people throw the candy on the ground and he'd pretend to vacuum it up and really he'd just grab it and put it in his bag. I did that thing they always say in the cartoons like something in the vacuum company, Walla Walla, Washington. Like, vacuuming up. Nice. It's like 15. Yeah. Yeah. We we were old and creepy. We got a minute left. Christian perspective on Halloween, okay for the children to participate?
You know what? We've always done. We've always said, we'll do nothing with death, nothing with Satan and evil. You can do something fun. And we were, like, super low key. Yeah. I mean, like, even actually last few years, we'd just go to a movie, you know? Yeah. That's just how we or we've gone to, a nursing home where, like, we're serving them as much as they're serving us and then like three or four family members or something. That's that's been our approach. When I was a kid, we went through the whole neighborhoods in every neighborhood Right. Within 10 miles, you know, like, woo hoo. I don't know that it's detrimental. Yeah. I I think I think you have to keep an eye on you know, but I mean, I don't know that it's detrimental. Like if your little girl wants to go out as a horse or a unicorn or a pony, you know, whatever.
