Segments
- Show open: host intro and band welcome 0:04–2:00
A host introduces himself on-air as "Ben Foust" and greets Mike; the band Syndrome of Fire is announced as back in the studio after a real wingding of setup noise.
- Pre-show banter and lineup preview 2:07–4:07
The hosts riff on a local circus at Adventureland and a movie about Facebook, then preview the night: Syndrome of Fire in studio, a round of Secular or Solomon, and talk about the book of Romans.
- Bible shopping and the Romans open-faced sandwich 4:14–8:37
A host tells how he has been borrowing his wife's Bible, balked at an $85 replacement, and found a circa-1977 Bible dumped at a ministry center. He previews Romans with a corporate compliment-sandwich analogy: Paul's letter is an open-faced sandwich – one piece of bologna under thirty pieces of bread of rebuke.
- Sandwich preferences comedy bit 8:44–10:44
A host needles Casey, who does not like sandwiches at all – bread or innards – and the table debates chocolate, cheese, and what a proper sandwich requires.
- Studio hang: bunny dream and David Bush 10:46–13:46
A band member recounts a dream about her thirty-plus pet rabbits peeing in the tour van; the table moves to yard-rabbit colonies, mic crackle, and a listener's request to get David Bush on the show, which a host rates highly unlikely.
- Van thanks and site promos 13:53–15:55
The band thanks the show for lending their van for tours, and a host plugs the show's Facebook, YouTube performances page, and lifefromthepath.org.
- Band interview: first record-label contract 15:59–24:30
Syndrome of Fire describe signing their first record deal with a label in Columbus, Ohio, getting their songs torn down and rebuilt in the studio, and joke that Chuck Norris listened to one song and loves it – and plays tuba.
- Recorded track playback: Fast Train 24:34–26:53
The studio plays Syndrome of Fire's recorded track Fast Train; afterward a host reacts and asks whether the singer doubled her own background vocals.
- House of Bricks story and Hacksaw Jim Duggan 26:57–32:38
A host tells the story of sneaking into a House of Bricks show with about four dollars, then launches into a Hacksaw Jim Duggan bit – the wrestler will body-slam anyone who asks, which is how, he says, he and Dan became friends – ending with a plea to find Hacksaw on Facebook.
- Announcement: leaving Des Moines Amplified 32:43–34:42
A host announces that effective the first Monday of February the show leaves the Des Moines Amplified platform and moves to lifefromthepath.org, keeping the 10pm-midnight slot, with possible flexible broadcast times for bands and ministry work including digital small groups.
- Fundraiser concert offer from the band 34:54–35:55
A band member offers to put on a fundraiser concert with full production for the show's new-studio costs; the table riffs on Village Inn and Life in the Path t-shirts.
- Live acoustic performance: song for loved ones 36:06–44:36
Syndrome of Fire perform a live acoustic song introduced as being about leaving loved ones behind when God sends you somewhere, anchored on hope and love that never lets go.
- Post-song: band redesign, contest, Pella show 44:39–47:59
The band discuss a coming redesign as Syndrome of Fire 2.0, a contest about a member's first concert location (hint: the United States), and a March show in Pella tied to human-trafficking awareness.
- Game: Secular or Solomon 48:06–1:05:12
The hosts play their recurring game of attributing proverbs to Secular (world wisdom) or Solomon (Biblical wisdom), with rounds covering Proverbs 15:1, Proverbs 28:26, Proverbs 13:24, Proverbs 16:18, and Proverbs 15:17 – the last sparking a King James vs Good News vs New Living Translation comparison – plus secular entries like the Lord helps those who help themselves, God moves in mysterious ways, and better to light a candle than curse the darkness. Dan is quizzed and the chat plays along.
- Gross-foods comedy round 1:05:15–1:22:03
The table spirals from tripe at a 7th-grade cultural fair into rabbit stew, seasoning a raccoon, a co-host threatening to eat a yappy dog, chicken brains on crackers, head cheese, Malt-O-Meal, and a story about a Dan Hudson stalker and his Prince-style initials symbol.
- Illustrated Living Bible bit and church plugs 1:22:14–1:26:44
The table mocks Dan's illustrated Living Bible as theft-proof, then a host plugs lifefromthepath.org, church services at 9 and 10:30, and a coming worship appearance by Jessa Anderson.
- Live acoustic song Blind and the secular realm 1:26:47–1:35:11
Syndrome of Fire perform a second live song, introduced as Blind; afterward a band member testifies that their audiences have shifted from church crowds into the secular realm, and a host riffs on praising God in ordinary life choices – job, marriage, actions – under grace rather than fear of surrender.
- Romans: the law reveals sin 1:35:48–1:39:13
The hosts dig into Romans – Paul leveling everyone under sin – and a host reads a Living Bible paraphrase of Romans 3:20, arguing the law exists to show people they are sinners and warning that culture is losing the sense of absolute right and wrong, which he calls the compass of humanity.
- Guilt, grace, Romans 7 vs 8, and the prodigal son 1:39:24–1:51:00
The table turns to self-imposed guilt in Christian life: dwelling on forgiven sin is framed as distrust of God's grace and the devil's tool for keeping believers ineffectual witnesses. They contrast Romans 7 striving with Romans 8 freedom, and land on the prodigal son – the father running to the returning son – as the picture of God's heart toward failures.
- Sign-off 1:51:03–1:52:50
The hosts close out: a co-host fumbles the transition a host usually does, they thank Syndrome of Fire, and repeat the plugs for syndromeoffire.com and the search for Hacksaw Jim Duggan.

Live Wolf Street Studios, Downtown Des Moines. You are Live from the Bad. Are we here? Where are we? What's going on, Aaron? You're listening to live from the path on 1amplified.com's travesty. Oh, man. Thanks for listening.
What? There's a lot going on in here. Man. There's nothing there's nothing I do about tethers. Okay. Get out of here. What's going on? I can't breathe. It's thick in here. There's a bunch of stuff happening. And this camera's really close. This really is, man. I'm scared. You were lucky I'm so devilishly here. We should have put like a children warning thing on there. Holy cats. There we go. That's better. Alright. You're listening live from the path on demoyneamplified.com. My name is Ben Foust. I will be your host for this evening. Hi, Mike. Hey, Mike. Hey, Mike. We've got I don't know. Oh, Is that my bible? That's your bible. Thank We got a real wingding going on here tonight. Sitter McFire is back in the studio. Hello. Hello. Hey, man. What's
up, Dan? Man. So What's up, Dan? No one talks to Dan. I thought it was a mistake, I just didn't respond. Oh, man. He must have had to say, da da da bend da bend da bend and make. Hello? Sorry. How's this thing? Is that working? Ben? Yeah. You look like You're on. Here. This is you. Look like Seriously, it's like moving in a circus around here. Nice.
Okay. Alright. Fine. We're good. We're good. Alright. We got a lot going on. Anyway, cinema five is back in the studio. It's like moving to zoo. I mean or the what's the circus? What's the circus that's in town? Who who does Adventureland? Henniford. The Henniford. The Royal Hennifords. Yeah. Yeah. We've talked about how I've been to that circus, haven't we? Bailey and Circus. No. Yeah. We talked about it. Remember I Seriously? Yeah. Remember I thought it was terrible because whatever, they didn't have any actual real animals, like big animals, they just had a dog that stole hot dogs and whatever. Would you remember that? I don't recall that. Oh, it's been a while. It was I thought you said you were in it. No. You watched it. No. I've seen it. Yeah. Oh, okay. I wasn't actually That's a whole different story. I did not remember you being in the circus. Oh, yeah. No. I I haven't been legitimately in the in the circus. I'd be looking that up on YouTube. No. It'd be there. Sorry. Alright. Alright. Anyway, good. So so Cinderflyer's here. They're gonna be playing some tunes. They got a bunch of cool information. I'm really excited to hear what they've been up to. I've been secretly stalking Jaemin on the Facebook. He does not know that. Like, probably Now. Two or three times a day, I take a look at it. It's kind of an awkward moment for all of I see what doing. How how old are you when you call it the Facebook? What do mean? The Facebook. I just you know what the problem was is I just saw that goofy movie where it was originally the Facebook and then they changed it to Facebook. Oh. They talked about that on the social yeah. Yeah. The social network movie. So they talked about was it wasn't very good. I didn't find it entertaining. I heard a of people say it was good so I was gonna see it. No. I didn't find it that good. I'll take it back off my list.
Anyway, so they it was originally called the Facebook and then they took it off to just I like it. Yeah. You prefer the Facebook? The Facebook. Yeah. The Dan. It's more proper. There it is. Exactly. So anyway, so so senator Feyer's here. We're gonna talk to them. We also got a a raging game of secular versus Solomon coming up. I'm excited about that. Solomon has won three weeks straight. Yeah. Solomon does dominate. He's pretty smart in how he you know, he's a Well, the secular guy, I don't he's kind of doofus y. Yeah. Anyway, he's I tried him out on my on my four year old last night and she was pretty good. She was 80% on secular versus Solomon. So I think this is gonna play off well. Awesome. Okay. We got that going on. And I also I wanna talk a little bit about Romans. Boy, I've been jazzed about I've been reading through the book of Romans this week and I can't I've been really really jazzed about it. I don't know if it's because I got some kind of hip seventies bible. So I lost so I've been borrowing my wife's bible, right? I was a real smooth character. Before we were married, I bought her a bible and I knew we were gonna get married at some point so I had her name put on it and I had to put Amanda Foust on there because I didn't wanna put her other name and have I I don't know how you think When you said Sheryl blank. What? When we were dating. Daniel, that's terrible.
Well, because we knew it'd change. I know You couldn't just put her head there. If I couldn't put a fake name, it wasn't real. It was it I that's what I did. What her name is? It was gold That's how I got her. You can't read from a bible. You would have melted her heart if you would already put your last name next to hers. It would have been touching. But wouldn't have been real. Would would been like, I haven't I haven't decided on you freak. She's got a first name, right? Yeah. Had her first name. And then shortly after getting married, we it was our big moment. We met the store and said, can we put Hudson on you? Cheryl Blank. You're real smoothie, Dan. So I interrupt you. Just kinda thought, wow, you're terribly unromantic. I mean, what if one of things didn't turn out? Then you have to return the ring and the bible. They do turn out. And they don't take back the first black eye. Exactly. The ring you can hawk but the bible So anyway, so I've been using my wife's bible and then all of sudden she gets she's decided she's gonna she's gonna read this thing in a year based upon the program. Oh, yeah. So now she's got my her bible held hostage from me.
So so I I went bible shopping. And I don't wanna buy one. For some reason, the Lord's word, which should be free to all, cost $85 at the at the Brookstone or wherever you buy the stuff. So anyway That's next to the $70 pencil. That's the chair massager. That's not the that's not the bible stuff. Brookstone is the technology store. Yeah. They're the they're the people with the personal fans or the the magnetic roll dice that roll to the numbers you want. My mistake. Yeah. Sorry about that. Anyway, so so I was gonna go with Salvation Army because I thought, man, I kinda like a cool bible that's seen some years, something with some style to it. Yeah. So they've really dwindled down the selection at the Salvation Army. They only have the New Testament and all those Reader's Digest condensed books where there's four books in the same one. Yes. That they that you the garage sale books, you know what talking about? So so no, I didn't wanna buy a lame, just New Testament, even though that's what I'm reading at the moment. So I left it. And so I go to the ministry center and so people at the church randomly dump books at this ministry center and I went through three or four and I found this it's gotta be 1977, this bible. You can tell by the dudes on the front of it. They're looking overly hip for Christ. Was it like the way or something or It is. It's the way. That's what I'm reading. There's a reason they donated it to the And and it was the only one that didn't have too many notes in Some people I don't like other people's feelings about Christ in my bible because what if we were wrong, you know? And there was Dorito markings on one of them. Some of have been flipping through while snacking. You can't snack your way through Leviticus. You shouldn't be doing that. They changed
his name from Paul to Paul comma man. Come on, Paul. Come on, Paul man. So And there's some real cheesy stuff in here but it's really easy to read because it doesn't have a lot of the the junk in it, like there's no commentary and even the chapter markings are really tight, like, can barely tell when you go from chapter to chapter. Anyway, so I've been breezing through Romans and I don't know, I've been getting jazzed up. There's a lot of cool stuff in Romans. A lot of the big stuff I always had a gap problem between Old Testament, New Testament Uh-huh. And and Romans really Yeah. Polishes a lot of that. It does. And there's a lot of Paul's kind of a you you ever heard anybody anybody work in the corporate world, they they tell you to do compliment sandwiches when you're giving feedback to people. You say a good thing Oh, yes. And then whatever they I just had that conversation today Yeah. With my husband. Yeah. Here's what we need to work on.
Do something nice first. Paul Build me up. This is what I like about in Romans, Paul does the the open faced sandwich. So there's no bottom. He does hey, everywhere I go, Romans, I've been hearing good things about you. And then then he talks about, you know, you look at the the people that are sitting wherever he goes, and that's you too. And then he doesn't let up like he lets it for the next, you know, 20 chapters. That's you, you're doing this and you're doing this Yeah. Like one piece of bologna and 30 pieces of bread. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Mhmm. So I enjoyed that part. That's really testing the parts. Think you're doing alright, are you? So anyway, we're gonna talk a little bit about that. I get excited about Romans. Awesome. So You're making Tim hungry with all these sandwiches. I didn't know we were Talking about Roman sandwiches today. I'll take Does anyone have Jimmy John's in their phone? I'll take half a baloney. Boy, I don't I haven't had when's the last time center of fire, when's the last time you had a bologna sandwich? Sorry? I don't like sandwiches, so very long time. I don't like it when they wanna go to Subway because I don't like sandwiches. Do you guys still go? Do you still insist on going to Subway? Oh, yeah. Yeah. That's a fair Push that microphone closer to Ryan. So you're still going even though she doesn't wanna go? I'm not dissing Subway or anything. I just don't like sandwiches. We make her go. Who doesn't like sandwiches? But like, it's not about you, Kiss. Her husband is the worst about it than we are though. Man. It goes every day. I had a bologna sandwich for lunch today. Really? Yeah. No kidding. I think it's been years. Or two pieces of chicken or dirty? Two pieces.
Yeah. Jalapeno bologna? I I get the beef bologna. Did it have mustard on it? It had mustard and and horseradish. What about cheese? No. I don't like that cheese on there. I think it ruins it. Mhmm. Mhmm. Now, hold hold on. I'm I'm I'm not past this yet. Casey, I'm sorry. You don't like any sandwiches? Like, no peanut butter jelly? Is it the bread or the innards that bother you? That's hilarious. Actually, probably the bread. I'd have to think so. I hate innards. I don't think I innards. I hate everything that could possibly go in a sandwich. I have had some sandwiches that are bad. Chocolate chip sandwich. Yes. That that would do. Now it would be that would be You mentioned chocolate. Woman's best friend. Yeah. Did you guys hear that? What? Yeah. The crackling?
I've never heard this. What's that crackling? I don't wait. I guess stopping talking and looking around isn't gonna do much. It's not like I'm gonna see something cracking in the distance. It's unlikely. Alright. Is there hair on my microphone? No. It looks alright. Do you want hair to be There's always hair on your microphone. No. Back there. What what do you eat if you don't eat sandwiches? Because that's like all there is, I thought. What did you say? What do you eat? Oh, everything else. There There's pasta, there's stir fry, like anything with rice and noodles I love. I guess there are things like meals out there. I just thought that everything you know, didn't know there's anything besides sandwiches. Things that take a lot of time. This is true. I can think of something that would be included in everything other than sandwiches. A nice stew perhaps of
No. Don't go there. Wait a minute. Tell me a story about stew. Okay. I love bunny rabbits. Bunnies are my thing. Actually delicious. Yeah. Okay. But and and when we go on tour, like, I wanna have a bunny rabbit. I actually had 30 something bunny rabbits when I was little. I actually, like, breeded them and it's a really big deal. And actually, two nights ago, I had a dream with it was me and all the guys, and we were in the tour van. And I had a bunny rabbit, and it was peeing everywhere. And the guys were like, throw it out the window. Throw it out the window. And I just kept holding on to it. I was so afraid that they would throw it out the window. Window. I couldn't No. I'm serious. I couldn't believe I dreamed this. Hey, Ben. The van's gonna stink. And Tim just keeps saying he's gonna eat my bunny rabbit and he's going too far. Poor bunny. Wow. You think know a guy, you know? I like I like barbecue sauce. Actually, it's weird that you mentioned bunny rabbits and
extrication because I was walking up to my house today and I swear there's a colony of rabbits using my front lawn as a toilet. And see, the backyard's clean because the dogs eat it. But the but the front yard looks like someone, you know, dumped a box of Sun Maids out there. I mean, it's all over the place. And I did not notice that before. You know would be funny is if they were passing around litter from your from your front yard and reading it while while they were hanging out in your front yard. Oh. Well,
it was funny when I thought it was funny. It's it's a it's a visual thing. Yeah. My mistake. I promised my wife I wouldn't talk. Anyway, you listen to Live From The Path on deboinamplify.com. I think we're blowing something up. Yeah. What is that? I don't know. I'm gonna have to start checking. Made those rabbits on the inside there. Chewing on wires. I'm hoping for that one for now. Nope. I didn't bring any Talk amongst yourselves. Yeah. Going? How's Yeah. Yeah. Hey, Dan. Hey. You know what? We haven't been able to We haven't been able to solidify him as a guest. I don't know why. After after after repeated inquiries, he doesn't seem to wanna wanna come in. And the cardboard cutout is just we were gonna do it but it was too expensive of an investment for what it was worth. You're a bitch that committed, you know. It's I don't know. I was gonna cheaper. I was gonna draw a sign but I don't know why. It was it didn't turn out very well. They just It's you. We wanted to thank you guys for letting us use the you guys' van and everything because they they let us use our,
their van for our tours and stuff, and that's just been just such a blessing for us to have that. And and, well, we were talking about David Bush on the you guys were having a show one time and Ryan and I called you back and we were coming back from the show and That was awesome. We were just wondering when David Bush was gonna be on the Yeah. Yeah. You know what, I actually got in a conversation about him again this weekend. But I'm I'm gonna put that as as highly unlikely he's gonna come on the show. That's too bad. Especially after my my attempts to get him haven't exactly been subtle. And so, I don't know. I don't think it's gonna work out for us. But, no, I'm glad the van's working out for you. Usually, we let rabbits pee in there but I'm glad I'm glad it's getting some use. I was telling Ben earlier that we're like kind of planning on well, we've been doing like, we had to replace some like tires and stuff like that but the tell them that we're gonna get a paint job for it because it looks a little off. And we thought you guys might like hot pink. Absolutely. With white bunnies kind of drawn and on the side just It's gonna be the coolest band ever. Yeah. Right. Then you'll see the little sun raisins after it. You'll be happy bunnies. And there's Tim trying to eat the side of the van.
Catch him. All the all the sudden, we see our the van go by with a bunch of greyhounds around. I said, look, guys can have the van back but Tim has to come with it. He he's not willing to park. In fact, he's clamped onto the side of the fender. Boy, Tim, you got some real problems. I don't know what happened to you. You're such a nice young man. Yeah. All he wants to do is slow cook that ribbon. You're listening live from Path on demoinamplify.com. We are in studio with Senator Maffeiar. You can catch they're on Facebook if you look up Senator Maffeiar and I don't know why I did this, like a See, actually, I turned the camera so they can't see that but I had my finger up like a like a fifties crooner. You can also go to
syndrome of fire dot com. You better you better fix it, Tim. You better fix it during the Pull us together. Trying to put on a program here. You can also if you go to Life From The Path YouTube, if you go to lifefromthepath.org at the top, you can click YouTube and Cinder For Fire is rocking their video from our show, Best of Me, has over taken Caps For Sale as the top Nice. Live From The Path production. Very good. Out for our Caps For Sale thing. Everything was fun and fun and dandy until all of a sudden they overtook Caps For Sale. I'm not serious. That one's personal.
Caps For Sale was our highest grossing YouTube hit video because we weren't in it. That's right. Was us reading a story. I don't know. Alright. Well, so now that I've got them all prepped and and ready, what's what's going on with Syndrome of Fire? Anything worth saying? Where do we start? Yeah. No. No. We watched the van. That was it. Well, there's been a lot of stuff going on.
To be honest with you, we'd take up your whole entire show if we were to tell you everything. That's probably best for everybody. Yeah. Go ahead. Ahead. I've got rabbit problems. Need to go anyway. But probably the biggest thing that most people know about we we just we sent the kind of final modifications to the contract back to the record label. And hopefully, they'll get it back to us in a feasible format. And hopefully later on this week we'll actually be signing our first record level contract. No kidding. Congratulations. Yeah. That's awesome. Tim too though? He's on it. Yeah. It was it was non negotiable. Well, that's that that's awesome. So is it is it locally based or are they are they out somewhere or is it Out in well, we can say out in Ohio. Yeah. So Columbus. Yeah. That's awesome. So So are they gonna take care of like your your bookings and stuff too and and and kind of move you about or Like
we I can't go into like a lot of contract details I understand. What's the guy's name? I can tell you his phone number or anything. But just in general, I mean, it's been like a really great blessing. About three months ago, we actually turned down kind of our first opportunity along that realm. And we're just at the time, we're like, man, do we really screw this up? You know? And it's kind of funny because it was for about a year was gonna be our our our first option. And basically, that was to get us to where we are right now. Right. And and and so we're walking into basically what would've you know, if we would've said yes to it, we would've had to be waiting yet for, you know, a significant amount of time. Mhmm.
So Guy was just very good to us on that. Probably the biggest thing is the owner of the label really believes in our band. That's, like, one of the biggest things in the industry. I mean, there's so many other bands out there. We played in a lot of different places, and we found out that we're a good band, but there's a lot of bands that have just as much talent, if not 20 times more talent than what we do. Dan, don't nod I believe it. I think every time I hear you guys play. Man, there's a lot of people out there who are these are dime a dozen. Tell you. Sorry. But but I guess just the biggest thing is I mean, God has just been really awesome to us. I mean, if there's anything that that we can say is he's provided so much. I mean, last time we were on, we we were, like, getting ready to, like, go travel all over the place. Like, how are we supposed to do this? I mean, we had the stuff lined up. We we just have no clue on all how supposed we're to get anywhere. And he answered prayer that night, you know, and it happened to be, you know, you guys stepping in and and really being part of that answer to prayer. And and because of you guys, I mean, we've been able to go and,
you know, sing in front of tons of people that we wouldn't have been able to sing in front of otherwise. And and you you just never know how these people get touched and stuff. And I I guess that's probably the coolest thing is we're we're kind of at the point where God is moving so much. It's not like, oh, we really hope this is gonna happen. You know, it's like the dreams become a reality. I mean, what his promise, you know, it was a dream that it became a promise and the promise has now become a reality. And and now it's like, okay, what's God gonna do next? I mean, just kinda like I mean, we're even talking like the other day, you know, it's possible within this next week that God could totally change the whole entire focus and and raise it up a a totally different notch. And it's just because that's what he continually does with our band. Well, that's I tell you what, that's the coolest part of having God in the driver's seat though. That, you know, like Right. Like, it's it's it's, you know, it's like, you know, wherever you want us to go, just just point a direction and we'll head that way. Boy, doesn't that message just tie into Romans. Yeah. It was a promise. It would get delivered on the promise. Now it's now it's the deal. What Yeah. Yeah. That's that's that's dead on. You're not the baloney.
I'm the baloney. Hebrew national. I wasn't really paying attention to the conversation, to be honest with you. I'd That's fair. I don't know if I said that, that would would kind of build everything together. I should have gone with the rabbit. You wanna stop paying it? When I'm not paying attention, I just go in and go, oh, come on, Tim. Come on. Then everyone goes, ah, Tim. Yeah. Well, that's that's really awesome. Hey, do you think Tim looks like Fozzie Bear? Okay, Tim. Walker, Walker, Walker. Like, I put it in I put it in the newsletter but I didn't really get any any any play out. He doesn't do that robot thing that He's you were kinda he kinda does the jazz hands a little. I think he looks more like you. Yeah. That's dead on, Tim. Do that again, Tim. Hope the camera's on, Tim. I changed it and I thought maybe Rolf Rolf was closer because of his hair kind of thing. That would have been better, wouldn't it? What a mistake. Sorry.
You you guys know Domo, the Japanese character Domo? Little brown guy with a big mouth with teeth. Well I don't don't get there. There was a there was a there was a limited edition. My brother got me this really cool limited edition Domo because he's usually just like this like an old couch, this brown fuzzy material but he found one that's it's got long hair and a beard and I was like, I didn't know they made a desert island Tim edition.
I was pretty happy. It's strange. That's the new Facebook profile picture. Yeah. Yeah. That's my that's my profile picture. It's strange that that's limited edition. That's weird. What's bread? Just because I almost forgot too. Another thing, we do have a single that's gonna be coming out here shortly, hopefully within the next month or so. It's only select few of privileged people have been able to hear it up to this point and so forth. But VIDs. VIDs. Yeah. So I think I think we might have heard it live at the House Of Bricks when we were down there. Yes. It's quite a bit different recorded. Yeah. That's one of the things, like you get to a studio and like you think your stuff is good. And they have a tuba and you go, oh, yes.
How do you know? She wants to buy. Well, was actually funny because I told you I've been following Jay for the things He gives away everything. He's such a gossip. Because we when we actually went down, we recorded this single. We thought we were gonna record a different song. We're like, yeah, this is gonna be the song. They're like, well, just come down with a bunch of other songs that you can just show us. And so we get done and we showed them all the songs. The one that we thought that we were gonna record, like, yeah. That's your weakest song. And we're like, what? Yeah. Complimenting. Yeah. By weak, you mean the best.
Exactly. And the next thing they're like, well, we're gonna do this song and but we're gonna need to rewrite like a bunch of it. So we're like, okay. Yeah. Yeah. That's awesome. That's like me putting on my best duds and something going, oh, no. No. You can't you can't commit her with that. As long as we get credit for writing the song, man. Yeah. Really. I know what she do to it. I'm excited about that song though, like, with the message. I love the message of the song because it's all about taking a stand for what is right and it's really almost like a revolution song in Chuck my Norris approved. Yeah. He Chuck Norris. He listened to it and he loves it. Did he really? Yes. Yes. Yes. No. He plays the tuba. He'd be VIP. Yeah. He actually had played the tuba. Oh, we got How did he know? He popped in every three minutes. You need the Chuck? No. Didn't really you know, we didn't know if it really fit, but it's Chuck Norris. Yeah. I suppose with Chuck Norris I'm not gonna say no. I'm sitting in on the tuba on this one, boys. You say, alright, Chuck. You know what would be creepy is if you play it with, like, his belly button or something.
Something you totally like, he he hoisted and put the tuvo on. He he talked to you with the Chuck Norris hand puppet? You gonna let me play it, aren't you? I like to live through the evening so you just check-in. I And then he says, hey, we're going to Subway. Cass is like, okay. I'm like, fine. Okay. Hey, hey, knock knock. I don't like who's there. Norris. Chuck Norris who?
I'll kill you. The Cuba? It could've gone so many ways. What went there? I don't think that was a joke, dude. Knock knock. Who's there? Chuck Norris. Chuck Norris. You're dead. We could go on that. We don't we don't we don't I don't think we even need to be here. Thought he was gonna say pass the balloon. My mistake. What I don't know. Do guys wanna hear Fast Train? Chat, do guys wanna listen to a little bit of it? So so here's the deal. Not everybody in the studio has headphones so you're gonna have to pretend to rock because Wow. They're just gonna see you not rocking and they're gonna take it poorly. Alright? So hold on. Let's do it. Okay. It's fired up. We gotta let us know when it starts. It started. Tim, they can see you not rocking. Fake tuba looks like indigestion.
That was that was like a Fast Train by Cindereum of Fire. That's awesome. Thanks, Jim. Boy, that's sweet. Yeah. That is Is it weird doing your own background vocals? No. No? Did you wait Did you did you double it manually or did they did you use a like a digitizer? Yeah. I'm sorry, what? Did you do your did you do your own backup harmonies or or did you, like, sing it once and then they digitized it? Oh, well, yeah. I Well, no, I'm trying to think. Sometimes You did it all. I sang it Oh, you're asking. Okay. Yeah. No, I did it all. You're your own stunt girl. Am I yes. Yes. I am. Yeah. Different tracks. Yeah. It was fun. It was good. That was an that's that's a good tune. Yeah. I remember it. Now we did we did that's one of them that we saw at the House Of Bricks, right? Mhmm. Mhmm. It was a little different there. Yeah. It was it was still good though. I tell you what, we were so me, Ben and Dan, we're at this House of Bricks show and, you know, like Ben and I were cool for like five minutes once back in when we were 15. Dan has never been cool. I've never been quite there. I'm okay with that. We were hanging out in the back, know, watching some cool guys around. His shirt looks like Jenga. Look at that. Oh, you can't see it. I don't have a camera on anymore. That's
a cool game, thank you. Which is an improvement for his man collar that he was wearing. Man collar. So anyway, you know, we were hanging out in the back, you know, and then they started they started rocking and we looked at each other and was like, wait, yeah, maybe we should go up there, you know, maybe we should go and hang out with the with the folks. And then all of sudden, it starts raining water because Sonny's taking chugs of it and they're like, yeah. And spit it. And we're like, well, I'm not going up there. We thought it was an unruly crowd there, bro. No. That's coming down Oh. We thought there was some kind of punk in the front causing trouble. It was like, how dare they? I normally breathe fire but I just all have is a water bottle. That's true. Cinnamon of water doesn't really have much of a a punch to it. But it was it was it was was it was cool to see it was cool see it live. It was the first time we got a chance to see you guys, you know, plugged in and rocking opposed to Mhmm. Forcing you down to bare bones in here. But it was it was awesome. It was really good. It was a really good time. Yeah. Yeah. I enjoyed it. That was a fun night. Mhmm. Everything but the onion rings. Yeah. We ordered Oh, onion man. We had to pool our money together. I think we had like $4 between us. Oh, we're we also had to we also ended up having to pay. So like we'd come in and we we kinda snuck in with you guys and Cannon Fiddick was the loaded Yeah. We're a band. But we made the I saw my shirt. Of going out to the main area and he's like, hey, you guys here for the band? We're like, yeah. And he's like, $5 or whatever it was. Oh, man. Yeah. Disaster. We thought we had we thought we were gonna live the high life. Yeah. Kings of the castle, had enough money for like four sodas and onion rings for everybody.
Then we ended up splitting the half half a basket. Aw. And then Tim came over with a full meal and Yeah. Ate it. At three sodas sat right next to us. Our stomachs are growling. It's like It's okay. It's like having a a like a like a a six foot party sub and then going downtown by the homeless shelter. Man, this is good. Good. Too bad you can't have any. I like how they always put those on. Have you ever got a party sub? It comes on like a two by four. Yeah. It's like the wood.
Because you know, when I'm done with the sandwich, I feel like building I'm gonna fix that door. You know what? I'm coming hungry too. I'm going to the subway. $15.99, you got a deal. Actually, they call that the hacksaw Jim Duggan. It's It goes in a in a two by four. Here now here's the deal with Hacksaw Jim Duggan. I he's I tried to find a Hacksaw Jim Duggan fan club. Do you guys know who I'm talking about? Hold on. Hold on. Okay. What's the deal with Hacksaw Jim Duggan? That's the lead in. Here's the deal with Hacksaw Jim Duggan.
Maloney, man. Tell you a story. Here's the deal with hacksaw jim dougans. I lead the show. I I don't respond well to people interacting. Usually, say something and then Mike and Dan kinda just do this and then I have to think of something else to say. Yeah. Was glad to see you do that. Didn't actually At least you noticed this. That's it. My This show is very much like a one man ping pong tournament. Alright. So anyway, so so do you do you know who Wait. Are me and Dan the wall? Yeah. Okay. How many? Okay.
I just want a clear one. Yeah. I'm on that. It's the blue table though, not the green one. So Hacksaw Jim Duggan was a was a professional wrestler and like we do there's this guy at work who, like, whenever he leaves his desk, we like to we we put, like, a photo frame up there and we change it out and put random photos up there that we find on the Internet. And so we were gonna do Hacksaw Jim Duggan and we thought it would be fun to take his work email and sign him up for, like, a Hacksaw Jim Duggan fan club. But I can't find any. There's not a legitimate Hacksaw Jim Duggan fan club anywhere. And I was totally surprised. And so eventually, I found some, like, old 1985 WWF
forums online and the only rumor is that Hacksaw Jim is greasy. Like, he's like like he's That has to be rumorized? Yeah. But but but then again, I I found that there was 10 people at my work who have met Hacksaw Jim Duggan and said he's the coolest guy ever. Really? Yeah. In what context did they meet him? He was very nice and he will agree to body slam you if you ask him. Like, you say, Hacksaw, will you body slam me? He'll he'll go, oh, and then he'll just do it. That's how me and Dan became friends. That was a good time. Yeah. I have to remind you, I have to keep turning your mic off because you're the crackalacka. Yeah. Wonder why that is. I couldn't hear that response. And and the camera's not on you anymore anyway. That's that's riveting, Dan. Riveting. Fantastic.
Christ would agree. Hey, is that from my book? Are you listening to Life from the Path on Des Moines? I had there was and before on desmoinesplay.com. Before I said that, there was I had a reason for telling the hacks aw Jim Duggan story and I forgot it completely. Well, Tim set you up. I don't know what happened. I was flustered. Sandwich sandwich Two by four was it? Yeah. You're right. There was nothing. I I really didn't have a reason to say that story. I just thought of the two by four. Maybe it's to keep people away from your party sub in case they struggle. You're eating it and people are like, hey, man, it looks like you got a lot of sub there. And then you can whoop him with Hey, is is Hacksaw on Facebook? Hey, can one of you guys check that out on the chat? Can you go out to the Facebook and see if Hacksaw Jim Dogan is out there? I'm just interested. Go on with your business. I'm not gonna wait until you just go and check it out. So real quick, in case anybody was listening, you didn't hear it last week or you're not signed up for the newsletter, shame on you, please sign up for the newsletter. Just a reminder that Life From The Path is moving, effective in the month of February, so this will be February 7. It will be the first Monday. We will no longer be on the Des Moines Amplified platform. So if you want to catch Live From The Path and you want to,
you will have to go to livefromthepath.org and that's our website. And right when you pull it up, Monday is probably somewhere around 09:30, I'll have our channel, I'll load it up and it'll just fly on for you. Okay? And the show will be there right there at 10:00. So you know, we're we're pretty excited about moving. We're gonna put the the studio in our ministry center. It'll allow us to do some we can have some full bands. We we might even have enough room to let you guys let loose. Yeah. Nice. And and we also we we can do some special stuff that we can't hear. We we chose the ten to midnight slot which we will continue but we might have some stuff come up where we'll be able to broadcast at different times. There's some bands and some folks that come through town that can't or frankly don't want to meet us at ten to midnight and so we'll be able to accommodate that and then we also there's some some actual some other ministry stuff that we wanna be doing through that to that enterprise, some digital small groups and stuff that you guys are more than welcome to be part of and then we're really excited about. So just keep an eye out for that. One thing and I will say this once and I will not say it again, but it is a ministry. We are moving into something and if you are interested at all in in helping fund such a thing, if you go to lifefromthepath.org
in the bottom right hand side, there's something like interested in donating, great, click here. Like I said, I've said this before when we're talking about the Spirit Midwest Festival, there's plenty of cool ministry things to do with your money. Okay? So pray on it. You know, don't just because you know me or whatever or you know us or you're in the church or whatever, you don't have to direct money. Like, pray on it, figure out what God wants you to do. Frankly, we don't even need that much but we could use some to help get us tucked up there. So if you're interested at all, we will we will be there. So Well, I'm I'm excited, Dan. Are you you excited for the new studio? I'm I'm excited. I'm excited to have a microphone and You're back on. Hacksaw Jim Duncan Duggan. Douglas Duggan, excuse me, has 24 people who like him on Facebook. Oh, wow. I'm totally in. We could double his Likeability? Everybody would love Hexah. I don't even know who he is. Hey, I got a question for you guys. Yeah. Just real real quick. Yeah. Like, I don't know how much money it costs to, like, do something like that but, like, we're just talking and we could help you guys out with a fundraiser concert. Just do a concert and anybody that pays to come, could just give you guys all the money. You guys helped us out. Yeah. We could help you guys out. We have full production. We could do it. That would be awesome. Let's do it. Let's do it. Alright. I'm excited. I'm excited. I'm excited. The bunnies are excited. Excited. I'm
taking everybody to subway. We can we can build a stage and And Village Inn. Well, that's awesome. Actually, I'm more excited to see you guys live for a full set. Yeah. It's gonna be me, Ben and Dan. Yes. We invited like 3,000 people, they all wanna come but we won't let them in. It's our private center of fun. So we make you guys up a Life in the Path t shirts and you'll wear them? Wouldn't I wouldn't agree to that. See what we're gonna do with your fundraising money? We're gonna fucking print up t shirts. We're good to you. We're gonna waste it on sandwiches. Well, two by fours. Oh, is this? That would be awesome. Yeah, be awesome. That's very cool. Awesome. Alright. Let's Let's go. We'll talk about that. Oh, man. Now I'm really excited. Alright. Alright. Alright. Something looks good. Let's do it. So I get do you guys you guys yeah.
You guys you got you got something to play? You you guys prepared to play something? Nine songs. Nine songs. Okay. Hey, you jabber along way too long. Know. I've got too long with it. Axon Jim Duggan. Syndrome of fires in the studio. I know. Dude, I totally wasted it. Well, that's yeah. You're right. That was a total mistake. Cassie, do have you headphones? I don't. Cassie needs headphones. Can use them back? I can take whoever's. Oh, gross. They they were gross before I got moved. Okay. It's all good. I'm controlling your volume. Have to do something. What? What are we gonna do? No. I'm good. Do the slower one? One? Oh, it's gonna be slow rocker. Sonny, you wanna go ahead and tick tickle your business? Yeah. Something.
What happened to it? Oh. Okay. Now go. You're on and rocking? Everybody sound good? Feeling good? Think so. Check. Oh, Tim. I think we're good. Oh, that's Okay. Tim? He doesn't need it, Mike. Yeah. It might carry. I'll check it out. Alright. So what are you gonna play? What do you what do you got for us? This is a song called Not Letting Go and it's our first love song and it was inspired by just me being away from my husband. Mhmm. Well, sort of, that's where it turned into. Yeah. It's kind of Sunny started it. It's kind of the band's what we're using it as is kind of our our goal is like it's our we all have loved ones back. Well, not all of us. I'm still looking for a British wife. That's great. British women out there. I met a lovely British woman the other day. I'm available.
I got my foot in the toilet again, Tim. Grab the two by four from the sandwich. Get me out of here. That's awesome. Love you. This is basically the first verse just talking. It's just kind of reminiscent like just some memories and stuff and then basically it's kind of our song as a band. We're we're going out and we're leaving our loved ones behind. Yeah. Can be hard. And it it can be hard. Yeah. And so we're just I cry. She she has. I I would under I I completely understand it. Like, I I I would have a a very very tough time. Yeah. I mean and it's and I bet it's it's tough too because, I mean, you know, you feel you feel like God's, you know, sending you somewhere, he's making opportunities available and so you're heading out for that and to to still have to leave something that you're really close to and that obviously you're gonna miss, that's gotta be tough. Yeah. Yes. I hear that. But this is like like the chorus is talking about the the hope that we have and that that, you know, love is strong and so that's that's what we really anchor on to. So just the fact that when we're out there, we're gonna come back and we're gonna be with our loved ones. Awesome. And we'll never let go. Mhmm. Alright. This is Sitting with Fire on Live From The Path. We have been unplugged.
This is Is this gonna work? Go around I'm gonna do him a fire. I'll fix it. Are you dragging what are you so my box moves around and he's dragging Tim What are you doing? K. Looks like Tim has very one It should be really unappealing dreadlock on the back of him. He's being dragged around. Okay. Sorry. Go ahead. Of you. I will never let you fall again.
Save on me. I'll be there beside Thank you. I love it. The chat loves it. Nice. Accusations of goosebumps and things of that nature. Oh. So good job. Nice. Very good. Bunny bumps. I like that.
I'm gonna use that from now That was funny. I like I have bunny bumps, guys. Sound good too. Did did you hear like a like a chair squeaking that whole time? No, was just like I thought it was like somebody's it was like hey man, that rig of yours varies. I dig it. It's got a nice boom. It's got a nice bearing edge on it. Since I was hiding underneath the table, I was acting like I was making the noise. I thought, I am part of the band. It's nice because it's got a nice bearing edge and if you're slapping on it.
It's nice and curved. Yeah. I'll give you $50 for it. Man, that was a no. He said no. So so what do you guys so I know you just said that you're in the middle of some finalizing some stuff with a record label. So do you do you have any any shows coming up or do you does that kind of wait until all that got got flushed out? Well, part of it's been kind of waiting for that. They're gonna pretty well completely redesign us as a band. Like, Fast Train is kind of our new sound that we're gonna have. So kinda have a, I guess, cinema fire two point o.
Yeah. So do you want me No. No. No. But, yeah, it's kind of an upgrade. It's a pretty significant upgrade overall too. I I guess the other side of it would be just complete redesign, logos, all of our web presence. Everything's gonna look different. Does that mean there's a fire sale on old t shirts? Actually Yeah. Actually There is not a fire Don't we have like a small or something? Oh, don't know. That's what Dan wears.
Tell him about the contest you're on on Facebook then. Oh, yeah. Well well, which one? Oh, the question of the day. Oh, yeah. Well, we we yeah. We have questions a week, and we're gonna be giving, like, free stuff away, like merch and stuff like that. Won. So Could you give us inside information? Inside information. I mean Actually, we can give everybody a hint for the question that's up right now is asking what her first concert location and everything, you know, where it was at Mhmm. And the venue. Just a hint, it was in The United States. Yep.
So, I mean That should help you a lot. Yeah. It should narrow down. America. Yeah. Of America. But It has to be New Hampshire. As far as concerts, well, there we we don't have a ton of stuff going on till March. And then March, we're starting doing some bigger stuff. We're doing a big thing with Central College down in Pella. It's a it's a push against slavery just worldwide. There's still a lot of stuff going on in human trafficking and stuff. Mhmm. And we're gonna be doing a big thing with them. We're also doing a big thing with, I guess, the Nazarene state of Iowa something or another.
So just March just gets crazy again, basically. And in the meantime, it's just a chance for us to breathe, write some music, hopefully get some recording time down. Yeah. And then life gets insane. So That's awesome. Yeah. Actually, it's kinda nice to be able to prepare for the insanity. Yes. Exactly. I could have just jumped you. Yeah. You need to ruin the business. Yeah. Nothing like finding yourself alone going crazy in a pink van with bunnies on it. Makes me feel very comfortable. Yeah. Here you go. Do you wanna help us paint that? I Absolutely. Mean Hey, in fact, we'll use some of our fundraising money. We're gonna end up with nothing. We're gonna squadron. Alright. So I said it was coming and I meant it when I said it. Get ready for Secular or Solomon.
And now, for America's fastest growing game show. Secular or Solomon? Wait. Is this the one where it's like the Nintendo thing? Yeah. Yeah. That's so funny. It's over. All Alright. Are we ready? Dan, have you been preparing? Have you been Wait long. We've buffing up on your Solomon to make sure you were ready? Yes. I don't believe that. Can I cheat? No. No. Do you have your bible software out? I know what you're talking about. Get out of there.
You brute. I use Can No idea what you're talking about. Can I use the the written text? If I don't No. Technology cheat? No. No. Okay. Here we go. Ready? So alright. So reminder for you guys that are on the chat, I do expect you to participate. So I will give you a phrase and basically, you need to tell me whether it's secular or Solomon. Did Solomon write it or did it happen is it not in the so I could, if I wanted to, put something else from the bible that wasn't Solomon and that technically is secular because it's not Solomon. K? But I'm sticking with Solomon. So it's either Solomon or it's not in the bible. K? Okay. Ready? Yeah. Secular Tunes are gone. Okay. Ready? First one. A gentle answer turns away wrath but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Mike, secular Solomon? No. Dan Dan Dan's face looks like like Solomon to me. Thank you. Solomon. K. Gentle answer turns away wrath but a harsh word stirs up anger. Sonny, secular Solomon. That'd Solomon. Be Hey, he's got Solomon. Cassie? I would say Solomon. Solomon. Dan? Well, that's directly out of Proverbs. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. And the answer is see, I can't look at the chat. Remember, Dan? You're you're you have to look at the chat for me. Oh, they're all saying Solomon. Solomon. Solomon. There it is. Solomon. Proverbs fifteen one. If they have internet access, they're gonna get the right answer. No cheating. Cheating is not Solomon. Yeah. Haven't thought of that yet. Wait. The lord despises a dirty cheat. That's right. Secular. There's
a way. Solomon just Bam. Here we go. The Lord helps those who help themselves. The Lord in all caps helps those who helps themselves. Start on Dan's side. Dan? Secular, Solomon? Secular. Tim agrees? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Secular. Secular? Secular. Okay. We're secular in the room. Any Solomon guessers on the chat? Secular I got a there's not a cut. I don't know when the last one stopped and the first one started. Look, we're getting some seculars. Okay. Here we go. Lord helps those who help themselves. Solomon,
secular. Duh. Are you serious? Dude, do know I mean? I no one said Solomon. There has to be one dissenter. And the origination of the Lord helps those who helps themselves was an from an Aesop fable called wagoner. The wagoner. Is that like the hawkner? Pretty sure it said the wagoneer, isn't it? No. There's only one e. No. Wagoneer. Wagoneer. Wagoneer. Wagoneer. You bought them as spelled as a wagoner. No. It's a wagoner. Wagoneer. Got it. That was wagoneer. Yeah. I can't agree with this. Sideways. It's the kids' real quick. Who proposes to read something better than I do when you can't even see it? Tim said it was probably that way. Here we go. He who trusts in his own heart is a fool but he who walks wisely will be delivered. Wasn't that mister t? Knew you beat me to it. Oh. Were you gonna say that? Did
mister t rip off secular or Solomon? He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, but he who walks wisely will be delivered. Ready? I'm ready. That's Solomon. Proverbs twenty eight twenty six, indirect. Contradiction, by the way, to the lord helps those who help themselves. Completely wrong. Grow your hair out, Betty. That was terrible. Next up. Pride cometh before the fall. Pride cometh
before the fall. Secular or Solomon? I'm pretty sure it's Danny Bonaduce. He's just everything cool. Dan, pride comes before the fold. I I don't I don't believe Solomon actually wrote that but it's in the bible. K. Pride yeah. Secular Solomon, Mike? K. I'm gonna have to go with Solomon on this one. K. Dan raises eyebrows when it's Solomon. That's his tail? Actually, Dan raises eyebrows.
This is what I do. Maybe he's just surprised. Ryan, secular Solomon's. Pride cometh before the fall. I would say Solomon, though he might not have not might not be in the bible, but he probably thought it. It was upon Right before he fell. He said, oh. I have too much fun. Ryan's found some kind of caveats. Pride cometh before I follow. Alright. The answer is unrecorded Solomon or secular.
See, it wasn't that. It's something like that. The originate from a Samuel Butler poem called Hoodabras. Hoodabras. I think you're making these up. Sixteen sixty two waggoner. It's ridiculous. The waggoneer. Okay. Secular. Pride comments before the fall. Here we go. God moves in mysterious ways. That's Santana. I was the mom. God moves in mysterious ways, anybody? Chat, secular, Solomon? That's gotta be secular. Anybody that has something good happen to them or something bad happen to them has used this phrase. We're getting secular, secular, secular.
It is secular. Origination, William Calvert's pym, God Moves in a Mysterious Way. Letter cover by YouTube. His pimp? Wait. What did you say? Yeah. I may have said him incorrectly. I can't believe you interviewed my pimp. God moves and mysterious. Here we go. Next. He doesn't understand me. Spare the rod, spoil the child. Secular or Solomon? Spare
the what? Spare the rod, spoil the child. What you got Chetzow? I don't think that's Solomon. It's not Solomon. In the bible that talks about the rod but I think that's not directly quoted correctly. Yeah. Solomon. We're getting a lot of Solomons. I was getting a secular spoil is not Secular is final answer. I think it's Solomon. Be be advised, he's taking these from the way. No. Translation. I did hate the internet search. No, dude. Alright. Damon locked in secular. We have we have some spatterings of Solomon. I'm sticking with Solomon. We're kinda sticking with Solomon. Okay. Spoil the rods, spoil the child. Secular. Yeah. Thank you very much, Secular.
Secular. I don't know. There's something about Now Spoiler your kids. He he who withholds his rod hates his son, but he who loves him disciplines him diligently. Secular Solomon. Whoever spares the rod yeah. Jesus said, man. Not that I have the bible near me. I would have said Solomon. Dan is cheating again. A spoil. I wasn't doing it till afterwards. Yeah. He who withholds his rod hates his son but he who loves him disciplines him diligently. That is Solomon. Proverbs thirteen twenty four. Congratulations.
Two points, Tim and Seth. Yay. Now, to be to be fair, the last five answers, Tim's just been going, yay. It's almost like I last one was wrong on but that's those are pretty close. He's like the fulcrum in the middle of the of the trapeze. Jesus, it was pretty close. What kind of trapeze are you? Whichever trapeze goes, he goes, yay. So it could be either a pro or a Kanye. Or a Kanye. Good.
Or a dying animal. Here we go. Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall. See, that's the one that I was Yeah. Confused with the other one. That's bible. But it's Solomon. That's bible. You can write that in the bible. Think Hey, there, you should scroll it in the line. Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before fall. Tim says, Solomon. I'm with Tim I'm with Tim on this one. Yeah. Okay? So That is some Solomon. Some secularism Solomon. Solomon. Proverbs sixteen eighteen. Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall. Dan? See see see right there though.
The other one should have been pride goes dot dot dot before the fall because that's what it is right there. Just cut the middle out. The baloney of the sandwich that you want. Exactly. You gave us just the bread, man. I don't like the bread. But then really, who goes around using the word haughty a whole lot? Yeah, that's true. I'm feeling all haughty today. Dan, what's you know Ben's gonna use that now. I'm real. I'm afraid that's gonna cost a loop. As soon as we have our own radio radio stream I mean, here's the deal, Dan. With this new radio station, like, Des Moines Amplified can we just pop in and stream for two hours and then they go back to the regular programming. Yeah. Livestream.com slash live from the path, we'll be broadcasting live from the Path 247. And and I'm gonna dedicate the 6PM hour to going, hottie Dan, hottie Dan, hottie Dan. Then I like it. Gotta Go to those food. Man. Because The guy from Subway. Because I definitely read I was definitely reading, you know, better than what's it? A feast in the house of strife or something like that. Yeah. Better a small serving of vegetables with love than a fattened calf with hatred. I'm going Solomon. Secular Solomon? Dan says Solomon? That doesn't sound poetic. I'm going secular. We're getting a lot of secular on the chat. I think it's gotta be secular. I have never I cannot I cannot say the word from the way, Solomon. It's gotta be. I've never read the word vegetable in the That's what I thought. Alright. Alright. It's on the way. Is that in the bible? Yeah. Goes all the way. Here we go. The answer is Solomon. Proverbs fifteen seventeen.
Dan, can you Yes. What kind of explanation is this? Fifteen seventeen in your What do you got? The new King James? What do got? Got everything you want. Give give me The vegetable is. Give me the new King James. Crops in every other translation. It's probably crops. The King James? Crops. Alright. Alright, Dan. King James. What's King James? Gotta find King James. Okay. 18, a wrathful man stirreth up wait. Fifteen, seventeen. 17. Sorry. Yeah. Better is a dinner of herbs where love is than a stalled ox and hatred therewith. Herbs. Herbs. Yeah. It does. Vegetables. There it is. Who? A It vegetables. Yeah. Good news says better to eat vegetables with people you love than finest meat. There it is. Vegetables. Vegetables. You you guys. New living translation, a bowl of vegetables with someone you love is better than steak with someone you hate. Thought they were two separate. There you go. Alright. Next. Here we go. Young To be uncertain is to be uncomfortable.
To be certain is to be ridiculous. I'm gonna throw my hands. Secular or Solomon? To be uncertain is to uncomfortable. To be certain is to be ridiculous. I'm gonna go with secular on that. That's tough. David says secular. I feel like we might be jumping translations. It's from the way. Man. Way man. Pass the pass the certainty. I say secular. Secular? Mhmm. I'll say Solomon. I'll put Solomon. Is this your direct, like, translation from the original text with your learned knowledge and free original the text? One. No. It's the one.
Wait. No. Solomon wouldn't be Quanic Greek. It'd be it'd be Hebrew. The Hebrew. Yes. It's from the Hebrew or the Shebrew. However you wanna play it. Here we go. Ready? Secular. It is a Chinese proverb. Yeah. Congratulations. He did two fist in the air. I'm so happy. Bean says that Ben's new bible is junk. Just saying. It's it was donated by Jorge Vilichet. Do you know what that is? He played, boss. I ain't playing. Anymore, Randy. It was that little guy from Treasure Island. See, now, you'd have to know Ben long enough that that's not the first time he's referenced Jorge Viliche. He tried to put him in a story, like, ten years ago he handed me to read. Let's say I've used it often enough, I know how to spell it correctly. That's the guy who wrote Amazing Grace.
Same. Here we go. Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam, so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out. That sounds like a public service account. Here we go. Before the dispute breaks out. Starting here we go. Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam, so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out. Secular or Solomon? Secular. Solomon. I'm gonna go with Solomon. God, come on. To bonafide Solomon? Secular. It's it's it's Solomon. It's Solomon. Definitely Solomon. I'm going Solomon. Here we go. Solomon. Thank you. 14. And all the married people in the room understood. Of Solomon. He looks kind of haughty. I know that's good. He's a little faulty. Do you know how many Solomons I had to go through before I found this one? Did you find that off of a deck of cards? That looks like it. That looks like the king.
I I thought and see, this this is my thing. Those bars downtown, a guy came walking out here. I could have put any king on here but I did like a Google search for Solomon and I I probably went through twenty, thirty pages of Solomon's before I found one that I felt was appropriate. They were all like they had a couple of them where he's like slumped over in the chair looking real I I don't know what he's up to. He was very hot. He's being a hotty. I mean, he does have 900 ladies. I mean, maybe that's the problem. He looked pretty worn out. That wisdom wears you out. Yeah. Wisdom. I mean My brain is what he texts. Next question. You nine had 100 wives constantly coming in and saying, hey, what are you doing Tuesday? Let's go out. I I I'm the king of clovers. I'm I'm busy. He just said drop the matter. Here we go. He did talk quite a bit about selling disputes with your wife and about quarrelsome ladies on the roof. Exactly. Constant
dripping and that kind of stuff. You have to know his perspective to get that. He should marry that many wives. I suppose he wouldn't. He kinda asked for it, didn't he? Yeah. I do. Get up on the roof. Okay. Here we go. Last one. Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness. Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness, secular or Sullivan. But I'm I'm gonna let somebody else go first. Good answer. That sounds real secular to me. Yeah. Real secular. Tim said or the question? Both. Is that after somebody passes gas? I would curse the darkness.
What is that? That? The darkness you found me in. Every time I come in here. Definitely secular. Secular. Secular. We got a couple of seculars in the Solomon Islands. I'm going secular. Enter the foul stench and depravity. The answer is secular, a Chinese proverb. That's that's what got. Did they think about? I think I had that on a fortune cookie. Tell you what, them fortune cookie has really gone downhill. That's not a startling. It's very disappointing. People aren't writing them anymore. Is that it? They're all happy, squishy stuff.
It's the grammar is too correct. It's too Yeah. It's too bad periods and more I actually saved a couple of them that were really poorly written. They had to be Chinese. Yeah. Oh, no. What is wrong with you guys? Can't say that kind of crap. Chinese are better at one of What's the translation thing? Dan got one that said, don't wear Django or it will wear you. And you have just enjoyed, participated in, and were overall successful at a very hard fought round of secular or Solomon. And now,
for America's fastest growing games It's over. Or Sullivan. I don't have a separate ending. That is our alpha and omega. Alright. There you go. Thanks for playing. And you've just won a pretty stiff one. Do love that game too. That's one of my favorite games. That's fine. Alright. You're listening to life from the path on demonicamplified.com. Oh, I had something. I had some soup this week that looked like innards. It it looked tripe. Mike, remember remember when had that you had that cultural fair that you did for like geography class in 7th Street And Tobago. And he made it was tripe or something. It was the It was cow intestines. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, man. Yeah. That was awful. Was it rabbit soup? Yeah. I fooled everybody. You forgot? Okay. It's cool. It's like, there's money. Here's the deal. When it really comes down to it, people can't tell the difference between cow intestines and rabbit. The element of surprise.
Can't. It's what you read. Like, did you did you tell me that isn't there a guy you work with that shoots rabbit or that brought rabbit in his, like, sackling Oh, Yeah. Remember this Yeah. Remember this dude? I can't remember. Oh, yeah. It's so fancy. Yeah. So this guy I mean, he looks like a like a domesticated Grizzly Adams. So, he wants to be grizzly but he can't he just he like like, his beard doesn't grow fast enough or his wife makes him wear decent, better clothes. But, like, he he brings like a pail to to to work that's I mean, it's gotta be big as a 55 gallon drum. I mean, it's giant. You gotta wheel it in. Oh my god. And we were going out to lunch or something and I I said, you know, you wanna go? And he goes, oh, no. I brought I brought lunch. I said, well, what what do you have? Maybe I'll just stay here and eat whatever you got. And he goes, rabbit. I said, rabbit. He said, yeah, I shot it I shot it last night. It was in my it was in my yard. I said, what did you shoot it He said, a bow and arrow. Oh my goodness. I said, where do you live? Ankeny. So so
it's the city limits of Ankeny in his in his suburban house. He whoops out his bow and arrow and and lasso's a rabbit out of his backyard. Wow. And he goes, but don't tell anybody because it's it's not in season. I said, it's not in season. Oh, So you shot a a rabbit out of season in your suburban neighborhood with your bow and arrow. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The wife says I I she hates it when I when I cook rabbit because it stinks up the house. I said, well, that's what you want in a meal. Yeah. That's how you know it's good. Yeah. It's not like when you walk into the house and you smell apple pie, you go, that smells great. Apple pie is delicious. It's rabbit. Yeah. It smells like decaying garbage in here. He was a character in half anime. Really? He was he was rough. The chat says bows are legal in town. Does wouldn't that freak you out? If you're driving Wait a minute. Like a bow by itself? Like a throwing spear? That's an that's an arrow. The bow the bow is the elastic part. If somebody had a spear, it'd rather the bow. Well, what good is it with a bow
without the arrow? I think that's what they're saying. You're saying both, you can go ahead and do Yeah. The bow and arrow. I've made a clown of myself. Wasn't following my own conversation. Here we go, Tim. Boys. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Is there something that creepy out though if you're, like strolling through Ankeny and there's like a guy out there like hunting rabbit with a bow and arrow? Yes. I would I don't know what I Flash your vehicle. I would roll my windows up. Like, I wouldn't know what else to do before Especially if we don't call about it. Hey, Steve. Hey. So does he have like the big hunting head? I mean, those are like razor
Oh, He was huge. Yeah. He was kind of like a like a man, I I don't know. He was kind of like a woodsman because we we were reciting this house. I'm sure woodman. What's wrong with being a woodsman? Did he just throw his hatchet? Got him. He wore his pants up to his up to his belly button and he had like a white shirt and and he and he and he would he always did this all the time. Like, it doesn't matter what he was doing. If he was getting a cup of coffee, he'd do this and drink it and then go back. He was very He did not do that. Oh, he did do it. Is he wearing suspenders? No suspenders. Would it be confused for the brawny man? Definitely not. He's not a wussman. He's not attractive. You see when they redesign the brawny man to make him more attractive? Yeah. I I kinda like the old brawny man himself. I have to say, didn't notice the brawny man was attractive. A little more Wait. Isn't he the lumberjack dude? The paper guy? Well, He used to be a lumberjack guy with a mustache. And they changed him over to some soap opera looking character. Well, Doesn't he look more like Bob Villa now as opposed to like Well, a haughty Bob Villa. But yeah. Yeah. He like seductively wipes the countertop. Have you seen this have you seen this commercial? No. No. I'm feeling uncomfortable right now. You should. He's
brony. Actually, the old brony Would you like a back rub? The old brony man looked like kinda like a lazy Magnum p I, like a guy who's like three weeks off the job. That's what but but he was dressed differently. He comes in smelling a rabbit. What do do with your time off? So so the question of the chat was, what's the weirdest animal you've ever ate? And someone's eaten raccoons. Is anybody a raccoon? Like, what now let me ask you this. Oh, really? It's yummy? No doubt. How do you No doubt. Let me ask you this, Chad. How do you season a raccoon? Like, what really brings out the flavor of a, I don't know, a meaty raccoon? Of garbage eater. A ruffian. I said, while you're thinking on that, Jaemin, did you attempt to eat something gross today in Ankeny, I might add? No. Not today, dude. Not today, but yesterday. Hold on a second.
Rock hold on. Someone is claiming that you, up too late, says that you threatened to eat something today and it was pretty gross. Expose yourself. Say what say what you've been doing. What did you do today? I do not recall this at all. Okay. Walk me through your day. I woke up very late today. How late are we talking? Noon ish. Wow. Do you use an alarm clock or you just, you know, you let the sun hit you? Well, today, I let the sun hit me. Okay. Fair enough. Now do do don't don't answer this too graphically but do you sleep fully, like, in, like, pajama pants? What are you wearing? The brawny man. The brawny man wants to know. Ben Ben, why are you interested in knowing this? Hold on. I'm going somewhere with this.
Yes. Very interested. No. What was that a yes to? Like, undies in Muscle Man or or like a full pants? The body Mike, I do undies in Muscle Man. What is Muscle The one shirt you can't wear in public that makes you look really awesome at your house. I'd wear this to bed. I'm here. But you put it on just before you go to bed, your belly's kinda half hanging out and go, I've hashed on your belly.
I've got two of those. Both of them I think I got from a tenth grader. What was the question? Okay. Okay, bro. Just just consider it, Jayma does at least undies and muscle memory. Okay. Undies and muscle memory. What did have for breakfast? It's noontime. You probably had lunch Honey checks. What's top of the milk? Rice checks, wheat checks? Honey nut checks. Gluten free? No. No. Just I don't know. That's a mistake. Don't Alright. Okay. Percent milk. Okay. So the seats on the open up so far. Okay. Alright. Where did you go after that? Get closer to the microphone.
I don't want this to go without everyone hearing it. I did not leave my house for a long time. Did you threaten to eat a puppy? Let's just come out with it. Oh, yeah. Well, if you wanna call that, I mean Well, I'm not really sure I would call it a puppy. It was more of like a rat pig looking thing. Has big old belly and a little pointy nose and big pointy ears. And it did not look at all like a soft cuddly dog that you would wanna hold. It yapped a lot. It was annoying. It looked like a rat. And I threatened to eat it. Wow. Well, there was. And that just flipped your mind? This image of I thought I thought maybe you were good. Don't remember because, you know, to me He eats dogs all the time. Yeah. That's what It didn't look like a dog to me. I thought they needed you and the muscle man going, oh, you puppies. Hey. You're a weird cat. It looked like I read. It was normal.
It's a normal ugly looking animals definitely. I told it that I had eaten uglier things than it before. How did it react? She stopped yapping at me. It didn't listen. So who's that on chat then? I think that's my friend's fries. Were were you at his house? Yes. Yeah. That's what he said. And it's Chex Bix. Did you eat Chex Bix with 2% No. Not Chex Bix. That's that's what they're claiming. Oh. It was I mixed I mixed corn Chex and the honey nut Chex. I knew it. That's that's awful. So you did a Chex home brew is what you did. Yeah. But you can have the Worcestershire sauce. Worcestershire. I have a question. Does anyone out there have Chex with chocolate milk? Yes. Okay. So okay. Tell my husband that because he thinks I'm crazy. Oh, so happy. With Chex.
Chocolate milk with wheat Chex. I grew up on that. It's so good. Gotta try it. Much better. Chocolate milk and Cheerios. So at Hy Vee, they had these Oh my goodness. These trial sized bags of malt o meal Different stuff. Frosted mini wheats and stuff. It was a dollar, right? No. It was originally a dollar and then it was down to like 50¢.
Oh man. And then it was down to a 0.25 and Ryan like literally filled an entire carton. I bought like five cereal. I still have a whole box. Every time you walk in the door he's like, Multi Meal, anybody? We're giving those we're giving those away for our prizes. Saw that we On stage. Senator Maffei signed this multimillion bag. Here you go. They're spitting out cereal. The cereal expired two years ago. Oh, no. Oh, man. If I went to a show and I saw Sonny spew a batch of multimillion out of the crowd. What would be funny is if you prepared at first, like, show is going on, he puts it like
gets about stirs up, takes it from on it. That'd be classic. Yeah. Molcha meal. So so here's here were the other things. I didn't here's what I can't tell. When we were talking about seasoning the raccoon, I'm assuming I'm assuming Chex mix, honey and rice, those aren't those aren't seasonings. We're talking about the Chex. Right? Yeah. Nobody really has any options for seasoning this fish heads? Has anybody eaten a fish head? Oh my. A head? Sea urchin eggs? Don't like seafood. Badarki? Mhmm. Chicken brands? That's not real. Badarkol? Is that an l I ate a well, I didn't Yeah. Consume it was in my mouth for a while, a chicken heart. What?
Yeah. Like Was it raw? Still beet? No, was cooked. No. No. It was Still beating. It was at concert I You know what happened here in Des Moines where Ozzy Yeah. Oh my goodness. That why? I was in a Brazilian restaurant where you have this little thing that basically they come around with these big skewers of meat and you have like a thing that has a red side and a green side and it's basically, you know, if hey, I'm open for business, bring meat over here and I'll eat it. Oh, that's cool. I know. So they bring these big skewers and slice off like prime rib and all this stuff and one of the things they had was chicken hearts And I was like, I'll try it and then didn't didn't Didn't taste very good? Feel very good. Interesting. Yeah. Ryan, you should tell him what you just told me. What? That you ate chicken brains? Yeah. Chicken brains. I I had a great aunt and then she would like boiled chicken brains and spread it crackers. On And she made a child Oh, seriously? Yeah. Spread on crackers? Yeah. Not making this lumpy breaking it up. Wow. She's weird. That
is weird. Are they are they cheap though? Who Chicken brains? Yeah. Well, sure. Like No. She grew chickens. She lived on a farm and Like, she grew like it wasn't so much a farm, it like acreage, but she just grew tons of It was like a suburban and she shot him with bone marrow. Lived in Akeny. She just like grew chickens yeah. It was just crazy and but yeah. That was kind of one of her big things and I mean, heads, that's pretty small in the first place. So, I mean, that's that's not a lot of She thought I might do cracker spread. No. That would not be the first thing that comes to mind. That's crazy. She told the grandkids they're they're in cheese balls, you know. Oh, here. Put this on your cracker. It'd great. You know, I might try that sometime, like, bring it to, like, a church potluck, bunch of boiled chicken brains and be like, it's a special cheese, you know. That's that Gouda stuff. No. Is that head cheese? Isn't that like a Yeah. Just call it head cheese. Brain. Is that? Like a head Brain or something. Oh. Don't look at me like I know. What are you looking for? What
do you know about head cheese? Well, let me see. I was hungry before the show started. You're lucky you can't see this chat. Yeah. It's getting bad. It is taking a turn for the worse. Let's get pancakes afterwards. Snapping turtle. Hey. Hey, the woman made snapping turtle. Was it good? Yeah. She killed it herself. Yeah. Tells to She you get it to snap onto a stick or something and then you throw it in boiling water. Wait. Hold on a minute. So, like, you see a snapping turtle, you get a stick out, you get him to latch on it thinking he's getting something to eat Uh-huh. And then you pick him up after he snaps it and drop him in a boiling pot? Yeah. Yeah. I've heard she said he screams. Oh, no. Little teaser. Yeah. Like a lobster? You know what's a convenient way to get him to to bite on the steak? Just get a miniature party sub and you got that
Oh, man. A miniature party sub also known as a regular sub. No. But it's like, you put a yardstick under it, you know. Hold on a minute, Mike. I'm really So here's the deal. Your wife tells it completely these are the following three entries from your wife. Right? Yeah. First one, no Mike. Two, caught it with a fish. Oh. Three, shot it in the head. Not lured it with a stick and boiled it alive. Well, what's that catfish noodling? She did fried it and made a soup too. I tried the fried part. I thought she I thought she caught it it with a stick. Apparently, she shot it. Your wife is carrying weaponry to shoot turtles? She could outman me any day of the week. What did you Mike told me a story about when she she wrangled like a deer or something that they'd found on side of the road. Yeah. We hit a deer and it was dying and it was flailing about, freaked me out. Don't wanna go anywhere near it. The woman goes up and Woah. Puts the man beast on it. I think the guy came a a a guy pulled over,
like, to a guy pulled over to help, you know, because we'd hit the deer and he and my He's wrestling it? He so manly man manly cowboy man and my wife went over and took care of this thing while I cried in the car. I was like, wow. I was like, it's flailing the tunes or flailing it. I was like, it's gonna kick me the face. I've seen TV. I know what happens here. I grew up in an apartment. I don't go around crazy Yeah. You know, they always show those those deer getting in the shops and, like, running around and making complete fools out of themselves and tearing the I don't wanna go near that. Yeah. Here here here's cowboy man and my lady going over to take care of it. Of course, this totally emasculated me. I couldn't have been anymore Did you stay sitting in the car? I I would stay away from it. Did you put your muscle shirt on that night? I really used to be somebody. It was very embarrassing for me. I was the thing back in high school. Back in '82. Yeah. It was terrible. Oh, man. And you still have your class ring, I see. It's it's my dad's air force ring actually. Oh, is it? Okay. Yeah. Looks like a class ring. Yeah. It kinda looks like it but Dan, did you get a class ring? I did. I never really wore it. I wore it like for a week or two and thought this was just Did you give it to any ladies as a way to show your affection for them? No. But one stolen from me and I got it back like three years later. Did she that's creepy. This is creepy. Okay. Was in college and I don't know how they found it but some they had like high school weekends and they'd come and they'd be like a recruiting weekend and somehow some girl got a hold of it and like three years later they found it up in the girl's dorm. Was it no, it wasn't in the drain. It was somewhere in a bathroom and it was like Good. Someone had taken yard and and and so they could it fit because you know how like, you know Woah. I'm like You
had a stalker. I know. I know. It's really bizarre. It's freaky. Did they find it next to a Next to a picture of me with a candle. Like, hair tape on me. They put back a curtain and were lots of pictures of me. Was weird. Tamed my Yeah. That's kinda creepy. I don't I I no one ever knows who I don't know who had it or Nice. Yeah. But my I mean, it's my initials and stuff for him. It was obviously mine. There's no other d h's in your school? Dave Harden's? Doug Doug Man, with my special little symbols and stuff, you know. You have your own Dan Hudson symbol? Well, I had the little football Like a Prince deal? Don't know if it was, you know Oh, okay. Gotcha. Were there any teachers with initials d h?

Okay, honey. You go get the deer. We need to say, we don't need the Allegro Soul anymore. She's my hero. Yeah. Oh, she's awesome. You are listening to
What? Tim. Go, Tim. Finally. Is that the way? Yeah. So here's here's the way. Oh, there it is. Oh. You even carry it with you? I do. I would, yeah. You know, there are other Bibles there that that are are actually, you know, legitimate. It's it's living. See, what this was was some some dude just like took like a King James and just said, well, think it means this. I mean, it didn't like it's not like a translation from the actual Greek. This is a translu or not a translucent. It looks like a book you would read just before you drank the It's like you wanted his kids to understand it. I wonder if Ben would want how would Ben understand this? It's an illustrated living bible. Yeah. Oh. At least it's theft proof. I mean, nobody's gonna want it. No. 71, the living bible.
Yeah. Yeah. See, but the question is if you if somebody needs you to like like, speak something over them out of the word and you, like, pull out your bible and they're just, like, looking at you like, man, I think I just asked the wrong person. Yeah. Really? Hey, dude. Page page five of the of the way translation has a guy from the third world country holding a bottle of opium. Like he's like he's about to drink it. And and next the verse next to it is, when you're trying to figure out what's right and wrong. Matthew five seven. Wanna drink this opium? I just don't know. I seem so right. I really like the way. So she yeah. She's Something. Gonna come in and do a couple tunes or whatever for for worship, and it's gonna be really cool. She was in here a couple weeks ago, and they she had been getting some rotation on 995, the pulse, and and whatever. And so she's definitely somebody to see. Yeah. Yeah. Alright. Very good. You guys got more tunes? Yeah. Yeah. Boy, I we took up all the time talking. We have one more we can buzz. Alright. What what is it? Tell me more about my eyes. It's called blind Oh, no. Sorry. That didn't work out when I said the ice thing. Alright. I know. I'm ironic.
I don't know what this I could say a lot but actually this is a song that was written before I came into the band. So would you say of all our songs it's the only song that yeah, was pre me. So I I'm gonna let Ryan kinda do we know what it means? I have an idea of what it means. Honestly, the the song is is written by one of my closest friends and just kinda came to him. He was like living under my steps. It was kinda long story. But he was
It is Brandon's. Yeah. But but I guess kinda the cool thing is about, like, a lot of the songs that that we do, it it does mean different things to different people. Mhmm. And the way that Cassie took it is, like, 1000% different than what he meant. Yeah. But but it so so I guess without throwing any inflection into, you know, what person's supposed to get out of the song, just like listen to it and see how it speaks to you and and see what it means to you. We might come up with something that we'd even know. So Alright. Sweet. Can you guys turn up your there's a there's a a monitor knob, monitor level. If you can turn it or mic level, just turn it up just a hair over where you're at so that I fuzz it down over here. Okay. Okay.
Can you hear yourself? Well, hey. Let's go ahead and try it just to make sure you're you want you're good? K. Check. Check. Yeah. Okay. We're good. This is, Syndrome of Fire on Live From The Path. Were near. Looking now, we were trapped in a crowded line. And touching you, we lost
all sense Awesome. That was sitting above fire. Awesome. It was awesome. Yeah. Thank you. One of things I just kinda wanted to say, I mean, just we just did two songs that aren't Christian. Yeah. You know? But a lot of the audience that God's been giving us lately has not necessarily been the church audience. He's opened up the doors very widely for us to step into the secular realm. And
a lot of what the people need there is to, you know, have a message of hope. I mean, it's kind of like one of the things that's as Christians a lot of times we're just like, oh, you know, we gotta tell them about Jesus and we we, you know, and and there's all that. I mean, the Holy Spirit I mean, Cassie will go off sometimes with the Holy Spirit, you know, prompts her too. But then at the same time, it's just like like everybody has like a different purpose. And whether or not, you know, we go to concerts, somebody gets saved in a concert, somebody gets freed from, you know, drug addiction or whatever it might be. Or maybe they just hear some music and they have like the will to live like an extra day, you know, and they didn't have that before they went there. And and that's just kind of one of the things. It's just like we try to write a lot of songs. Well, every song that we write is something that God gave to us. But we try to write different things that really just kind of rip up people's hearts in different ways. So it's an emotional kind of tearing thing and just makes them think about different things. Well, we were we were talking about that a little bit today actually with you know, some some people I think have have the wrong idea about how God works, you know, and and what God has laid out, you know. He he's not real specific on on, you know, the everyday aspects of your life, you know, what kind of job you have, who you marry, what you do, what you don't do, you know. He he's more concerned that as you do it, you're praising him as you go. That's true. That you're following his his word as you go and you're you're trying to live a life up to his his expectations as you go. And,
you know, you're always gonna fail at it at at some aspect. You're always gonna fall down but you're covered by his grace the whole time. And so you know, people people get too caught up in you know, they don't they they don't want a relationship with Christ because they're afraid they're gonna take over his life. But the thing is is once you get a relationship with Christ, you're the happiest you've ever been because he has taken over your life. Yes. Because you can let it go and let him have it and you realize it's not the burden that you thought it was. But And it's also not the, you know, the overall decision maker that you thought he was either, you know? Like, I I mean, ask and you'll receive and that's true, you know, but he's not a dictator. You know, he gave you free will for a reason and and so, you know, whether you you know, scoop out coal for a living or you run a bakery, you could praise Jesus doing both. Mhmm. And so, you know, people I I I think people get get to be afraid that like, man, if I if I hand my life over this deal, it's just gonna take it over, which is a wink and a smile, a good thing, you know, but you don't realize it before you get into it. And so I think that speaks a lot to, you know, your attitude in general just just in the stuff that you put out. You know, not every song has to say, you know, Jesus, every every tune, you know. I mean, it doesn't have to be that way. I mean, Christians do
you know, people who follow Christ do everything in this world, you know. I mean, name a job out there, there's a guy who loves Jesus doing it. Mhmm. You know? And so, I mean, you don't have to be outwardly blatant about it. That's the what is it? Innocent as doves and and Shrewd as snakes. And shrewd as snakes. You know? I mean, you don't have to roll out there and be, you know, innocent as a dove but a big jerk face elephant. You know? You could you could shrewd as snakes, you know? I mean, your your life will be a testimony for the love of Jesus Christ and the grace that he provides you, you know, if if you're living it right anyway. And so the the megaphone and and and the kicking dirt and the protesting is really not as necessary as maybe some people feel that it is. Agreed. Romans. Romans. Street Jesus. Secular. Street Jesus. Street Jesus. I'm telling you. Yeah. It's awesome. It says from the third testament. Here on the chat. Here comes a street Jesus. It's gonna be the only thing He I'm did go to town with that street Jesus. It's all over the spot.
Well, it's not getting a lot of action on YouTube, Mike. Did it? No. I'm telling you, if they just listen to it, the content there. There's a lot of me rambling, but Street Jesus is in there. You're listening to live from Path on Dewayne f f I dot com. We are we're in studio with with Cinder of Fire. And actually, I think I got all my Roman stuff out of the way. I got I got so excited about it. I I I really I blew it all up at the beginning there. You didn't really say anything about it. You just said I know. I was just I love the book of Romans and then you didn't really include any content as as a sandwich. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I was looking at my my way hippie bible and I got I got a million things underlined but I I can't really piece them together to what it is that I thought I was I was jazzed about. Like, one of the things I thought I guess I'll one the of things I think Paul does a really good job of kind of leveling the guy who thinks he's got it going on without God, you know, like, making it clear. He said he and he puts it he puts it pretty clear
In the way. Hey, man. Jesus said, I am the one. Exactly. It says and this is Romans four starting in verse 20 I don't midway verse 20. I better. It says, for the more we know of God's laws, the clearer it becomes that we aren't obeying them. His laws serve only to make us see that we are sinners. And I thought that helps because a lot of times, I I think that perspective that you were talking about of the of the shackle god, like god is a shackler who who's gonna tie you up and restrict your life. I think understanding the purpose of some of those, one, to keep us out of trouble and two, so that we are constantly realizing that that, you know, we need the salvation that he's offering. Because it I mean, that's the biggest danger. The biggest danger is is the hubris that says, I don't need God. Yep. Like, look what's going on without God,
you know, there's no consequences to my actions. One of the biggest failures as a as a humanity is our we're losing the the thought that there is a right and wrong. That there's a solid, there's a justice, there's a good and evil. Right and wrong, it can can be bent, it can be changed and with freedom comes the interpretation of right and wrong and it's a big danger because as soon as you start, you know, moving that around, you're the compass of humanity starts to move away from that, you know, you can't reason with a generation whose moral compass is completely off because they think it's straight. Right? It's my truth and your truth. Right. When true north is perspective Yeah. Then, you know, it's hard pointing back to it. And so Yeah. And when and and the resetting of your compass is the law of God, you know, that he's laid out and I can say, look, if I read this and I say this is from the God that created universe, he's telling me that I'm not walking right. Right? And I can recognize that I'm a sinner. Oh, by the way, he also provided the answer to that and that his his grace is sufficient to make up for my misdirection.
But, you know, it's it's a lot of times, we we think of rules as, like, he's sitting up there just just trying to shackle you down or or put you on on path because he says, well, I like to see him dance. You know, I'm God, I created him, I like to see him dance. Do this, eat this, go this way, walk this, you know, this kind of thing. It's it's really he's smacking you upside of the head with the rule knowing that you're gonna break it so that you realize that his grace is available to cover. And and that's a that's a tough thing to get to if you're on the other side of it, is to realize that that's out there. Well, go ahead. Well, I was just gonna say, I mean, like, was just thinking about the passage, you know, where I was talking about, you know, as I said before, you know, if you murdered somebody, now I tell you, you know, if you hate your brother, you know, that you're guilty of murder. And I and then it's just like or if you commit adultery before now, it's just like you, you know, lust after. And and, like, a lot of people kinda take that as this is our new standard as Christians of what we're supposed to live for. But when you really look at it, I mean, they couldn't follow the 10 commandments as it was already. You know? And and he was just like, when Jesus arrived, I mean, it we went from being under law to under grace, you know. And he's just like, kinda like saying, you know, if you thought it was hard before, if you wanna live under the law, this is a new law. And it's not possible. You can't do it, you know, without my grace. It's like Romans seven is just I mean, that's what churches preach half the time. I mean, you're talking about, like, why, like, the viewpoint in the world has shifted Mhmm. With the truth. But you hear a lot of churches preaching Romans seven, like, you got to do this. You got to do this out of reverence for God. And then you look but they skip Romans eight because Romans eight is talking about you can't do it on your own. It's the Holy Spirit working through you. It's it's God himself changing who you are inside. I mean, I could go all day trying not to do one thing, but until God takes a desire out of me to do that thing, I'm gonna have victory over it. So but one other thing too. I just wanna kinda say,
I know I've talked about this before with a lot of the people here, but it's like like Solomon versus secular type thing. Like a big life in the devil that when it comes to like a lot of different things is that you're always gonna deal with something in your life. And it's I'll just give you, like, sex with guys and pornography and all that type of stuff. It's just like once you're in it, you're always gonna deal with it. But the is thing that's a lie from the devil because it says that God has no ability to conquer that. You know? And that's like the difference between Romans seven and eight. It's because like you have all these people that are training themselves in churches for one thing that you have to protect yourself for the rest of your life that you're never gonna be you know, you're always gonna have to fight against it versus ever truly giving it over to god and say, god, I really don't want this anymore and take this completely away from me and change me from the inside so I absolutely have no desire for that. You know, and it's sorry. I didn't mean to go on I think it's it's weird that you said that because I I was actually just I was in those passages today and the the the kind of the thought that came into my mind
was like a guy standing up on a stage somewhere in a group full of people and, like, in the in the dead silence just staring at people and and saying, listen, it's done. Mhmm. It's done, you know, and then one minute pause. It's done. Like, this is over. It can be over. This is done. Because I guess I think even one one of the things, the biggest detriments I think to to the to the cause for Christ is the the constant weight of of guilt upon people that are trying to follow. It's their own. Like, it's things that that that they they can give to God and that God will take alone but they decide they're gonna carry
as if as if they're paying their penance to God. I mean, God God sent his son to make sure that that wasn't necessary because frankly, it wouldn't be enough. There's nothing you can do. There's no how guilty you look or how sorrowful you are to make that right with a perfect God. Okay? But he's taken care of that and and I think one of the biggest weights on a Christian community is is the self imposed guilt and frankly, it's a lack of trust. It's saying, I don't trust God when he says he's taken this way. I don't trust that God can change this in me. I'm not willing to give it to him. I'm gonna hold on to myself for a little bit. And and and the thing is is that's where you get a lot of time we talk about action. We talk about action in the community and going out as you go but sometimes we don't even feel like, I can't even go. I am so weighted I am I am weighed down with this stuff. I can't go or I shouldn't go. How can I appropriately represent a perfect God? You can't. It's not gonna happen except to point people in his direction. And so, you know, I I that's a real big thing that I that I think, you know, I I've been guilty of that myself. Like, I'll be sitting somewhere and and like, I'll be feeling weighted with stuff. I'm like, this isn't this isn't godly. This is me. I'm doing this. I'm putting the weight on my own back. I'm saying he has a he has a a yoke, a burden that's light and a yoke that's and and I'm deciding to take on other things as if that's gonna be impressive to him. Well, like, one of the things is like, you know, doing something for God. Just the concept of, you know, I gotta go do this for there's that love concept, of course, but it's just like God's doing it. I mean, you're you're being part of what actually God is doing. You know? And and so many times, like, that's the Christian attitude is I have to go out and do this for God. You know? I gotta do this. You know? And it's just like but I don't feel that I'm, you know, qualified. It's happening anyway. God's just saying, hey, you wanna be a part of it. You know, it's just Good point. Yeah. Totally. And if you're not careful too, there's also I mean, even though you're talking about, you know, the guilt, it's our own fault. Mhmm. Like, the enemy will try and step in with condemnation and then even try and put that Oh, sure. Like, yeah, you're and then you're like, oh, man. You know? Yeah. Double comp. That's he said Double comp. It gets even worse. And actually, think that's that's one of the the stronger tools of the devil is to is that guilt. Is is the guilt that that you're impressing God with your with your guilt and with your burden, you know. And I I I mean, it's it's a tough thing because, I mean, from a reasonable perspective, you can say, look, I I I've I've run afoul of what God has told me to do. I'm ruined. Yeah. I'm I'm ruined. I'm a man of unclean lips. Mean, how could I not feel that way? You know? That's an appropriate perspective.
It's the lingering there. It's deciding to like, recognition of sin has to happen for you to turn to grace, obviously. Right? But but hanging out in that recognition of sin and carrying it around, I mean, that that's where the devil wants you, you know? The the the guilt and and the burden and the and the punishment, the everything that God has freed you from Yeah. The devil is trying to convince you is of God for you to hold on to and that's that's the biggest lie. That's the big lie. Mhmm. And and and it makes for an ineffectual base. It makes for, you know, people who can't, you know When when I say go for Christ, I don't mean like that you're having to troll the streets grabbing people and shaking them for Jesus. I mean, be willing to embrace things in your everyday life Yeah. You know? And sometimes not even that because like if maybe I say something and if they go if the person I'm talking to, I wanna be a good witness for Christ and they ask me a few questions, I'm like, can't I can't pull this off. I don't I don't have the skills. I'm really in a bad position in my own life. Mhmm. How can I propose to witness to this guy? And the thing is, whatever position you're in, God is the appropriate answer and you can easily witness that to somebody but the it's the encouragement, the strength is through God but when you're when you're blocking that, you're you're sidestepping him saying, you know, I'm gonna decide to sit here and and dwell on this. I mean, that's that's danger and and it's you walk right into it. That's exactly where you know, where you need to be to be completely ineffectual. And if I could say something too, I mean, especially I've found that there's a lot of, you
know, like, especially in that when you're in that situation feeling guilty, understanding and having like the correct perspective of God's heart for you. Yeah. Because if you think that God is angry at you and stuff that just I I heard my roommate was listening to a sermon, it was really cool when I got home last night and it was basically he was talking about condemnation and, you know, you tell condemnation because it's always pushing you down whereas when god's, like, drawing you toward repentance, it's calling you up. Right. Mhmm. And so recognizing his voice of, you know, and his his what his heart is towards us
that, you know, he's not just, oh man, this you know, counting everything against Right. That really it's, you know, it's a it's a, you know, a good father's heart and sometimes, you know, father can be a messy thing in this world but, you know, that he's for us, you know, tastes joy in us. There it is. And I mean, like, I just I you know, like, prodigal son, yeah, it's it's a lot. But I mean, just like, you know, the kid messed up and, like, sinned against
the father and then he's just he's he's like, my son is back, know? And so I just I just found so much of, you know, our my walk and I think, you know, really everyone's walk is is is gaining, you know, the perspective of who God is and and what God thinks of me. Absolutely. Well, and, you know, I I think one of the things that we run into or the dangers we have on is is an incomplete picture of God. Like, some sometimes we say, oh, he's he's the wrathful vengeful God. He's trying to keep me down. And and if that's your only perspective, you have not you have nothing to run to. You have an incomplete picture of God. On the other side of it, if if it's the the the God that always forgives and doesn't have any rules Yeah. You have no reason to run to him there. What do I need grace for? You know, he's he's always patting me on the back and saying, great job, I just love you, Tim. Yeah. I just love you to pieces. You know I'm saying? Like like you're getting a a completely incorrect picture of God and Yeah. The the thing is sometimes the laziness in our belief structure is we wanna latch on to one or the other whichever makes it easier for us to continue being ourselves. Well,
like, one of the things too, I mean, he was talking about the prodigal son there just for, like, just a moment. But I mean, the whole thing for the son to come back into the relationship with his father, he still had to come back. As soon as his father saw him, like and, you know, his son was, like, was reeking because he, you know, homeless, living with pigs and all that type of stuff. His father ran out, hugged him. You know? And before his son I mean, his son was probably thinking that whole entire time, like, oh, I gotta tell my dad this, this, and I'm gonna, you know, I'm gonna take the lowest position that I can. You know? Right. And before he could say any of that type of stuff, his dad, you know, put that ring and said announced basically everyone, this is my son, full access to everything, you know, everything that I am. And then all it was is, I mean, kind of what you're saying. I mean, when his son was out there, he was out outside of his father's reach. But as soon as his son started coming back and as soon as his father was able to see his son walking towards him, his father ran towards him. And that's the that God is. It's just like, you know, I mean, God gives us our space. You know what mean? Because he's a gentleman. But at the same time, it's just like as soon as he sees that, you know, that we're on a turn and we wanna come back and he sees us off in the distance, he's right there, you know, giving us he he doesn't care, like, what's on us, you know, if we've been sleeping with pigs for months and we reek. You know? He he's, like, giving us that hug. He's he's like, my son, my daughter is back, everybody, you know, and
and that's the I'm sorry. No. That's good. So he came to his senses and came back, you know. And sometimes we that that point of coming back to our senses going, oh. Mhmm. And you type start headed back and he's right there, you know, he's waiting. So Well, mean and that that's the he's running for you. Yeah. He's running for I mean, it's and again, like, he sees you and you're kinda slunking in like you're gonna sneak under the doorstep and sleep by the dog, you know, and that's not that's not what he's after. And and and we gotta get past that. That's a that's a big one that I think can can can really divert you if you if you indulge in that perspective. Mhmm. Yeah. Mike, any thoughts? You are listening from Life From The Path on bornamplified.com. Be be aware that we are move stations and locations. Our new studio will be up and running here shortly.
