Segments

  • Cold open banter 0:00–1:02
The show opens with loose banter: what people say after a sermon, Wi-Fi and Facebook in church, and a meandering bit about the Angry Birds game, before turning to the night's main topic.
  • The atheist prayer room: reflections 1:02–9:02
A host recounts spending Friday morning in the prayer room set up above an atheist convention in Des Moines. He describes praying that attendees would leave unsatisfied rather than scared, and argues many atheists are reacting to hurt from rigid churches, so believers must represent Christ's love well.
  • Debating atheist logic 9:03–16:41
The hosts argue the convention's logic-and-reason branding breaks down: embracing a lifestyle that ends a generation under evolutionary thinking, performing de-baptisms, and throwing hotel Bibles in the trash are not rational behavior. Includes a joke about hotel conditioner being 'a work of fiction.'
  • Dan's draining nights in the prayer room 16:41–20:10
Addressed as Dan on-air, one host describes the emotional and spiritual drain of praying over the convention for three nights, cycling through sorrow, defensiveness, and exhaustion. He lands on the 'rabid raccoon on the leg' analogy and a Monty Python 'flesh wound' bit for praying for people who insist they don't need help.
  • Saturday in the prayer room and the 'air raid' 20:10–32:24
Another host describes his Saturday in the prayer room, praying that the attendees would leave 'confused' and full of doubt. He tells of catching flak from Christians for participating, of the group confirming their calling was to pray rather than preach, and of seeing street evangelists having calm conversations on his way out, which he frames as the air raid before the ground troops.
  • Comedy run: Crisco hands, the wedding slip, showers 32:24–42:34
A long comedy stretch: the story of shaking hands with Crisco-coated 'holy oil' hands, a wedding where the officiant introduced 'Mr. and Mr.' after a draining Saturday, wearing a shirt he had blown his nose on, chat participant SP weighing in, and riffs on football-team showers, old-style hygiene, and Jeff Arendale's dry-shower legend. Closes with the show mocking its own last seven minutes as a mistake.
  • Housekeeping comedy: deodorant shirts, bath music, the sombrero 42:34–49:53
More bits: ironing deodorant into dirty shirts, dryer sheets in the vents, bath music with Kenny G and Zamfir, the farmer's-market pan-flute player Pedro Madero, street performers, and a long roleplay about Troy's Easter sombrero from his grandma, debating whether an enthusiastic reaction to a bad gift is love or phoniness.
  • The pneumatic animatronic band 49:53–56:46
A host almost rescues a discarded full-size pneumatic animatronic band from a kids' pizza place by a dumpster. The hosts scheme about storing the five members, programming them for living Bible scenes, and dressing the horn player in a bathrobe for a nativity. Preceded by a bit about Damasus's stolen moped.
  • Break promo: AM 940 Sunday slot 56:47–57:52
The hosts plug the show's Monday night stream, past episodes, and podcast, announce a first-Sunday AM 940 hour at 5pm thanks to a donated time slot, and tease the first-anniversary collection video over the break.
  • First-anniversary collection video 57:53–1:03:57
The audio of the show's first-anniversary collection video, played during the break: a rapid montage of out-of-context quotes and clips from the first year, including the REMAX studios sign-on, oddball one-liners, and Abby's write-in about Mike and Ben teasing her shirt.
  • Show shirts after the break 1:03:58–1:08:25
Back from break, the hosts browse the show's shirt designs on-air: the 'less hair, more Jared' text shirt (made to cheer up Jared Roy), the Secular vs. Solomon shirt, a donkey shirt, and the retro sports tee, noting prices and the 'no markup' policy, and circling back to the animatronic horn player.
  • Should churches bribe people to come to Easter? 1:08:25–1:14:06
A host flags a church offering newcomers a $50 Target gift-card drawing for Easter service and asks what the others think. They find it cheesy and ineffective rather than offensive: paying people to come in puts getting bodies in the door ahead of introducing people to Jesus, and flash-in-the-pan crowds can't be served well.
  • Rent-a-bar churches and alcohol legalism 1:14:06–1:17:03
Spinning off outreach ideas, the hosts riff on renting a bar for a Tuesday service, then turn serious about American Christianity's aversion to alcohol: the Bible condemns drunkenness, not drinking, and demonizing one non-sin while excusing debt and excess is religious piety used to judge others.
  • Secular vs. Solomon game 1:17:05–1:37:55
The full Secular vs. Solomon game: the reader gives a proverb and the hosts and chat guess whether it is from Solomon or a secular source, with nationalities guessed for secular ones. Rounds include Proverbs 27:20, Proverbs 27:1-2, a Yiddish hot-bath proverb, a Russian priest's-beard proverb, a Welsh adversity proverb, Proverbs 26:22, Proverbs 9:8-9, a Turkish wrong-road proverb, and a Swedish unused-path proverb, interrupted by the John the Baptist animatronic riff and the stanky-feet prayer-room bit. Closes with a teaser for next week's 'Deuteronomy or Dan.'
  • The May 21 caravan and failed end-of-the-world predictions 1:37:56–1:45:05
A host recounts driving past a caravan of buses at Walmart advertising May 21 as the end of the world with 2012 crossed out. The hosts read through a list of past failed predictions: Albert Porta's 1919 sun-explosion forecast, eight Jehovah's Witness dates, Pat Robertson, Joseph Smith's 1891 claim, and William Miller's 1843 and 1844 dates leading to the Great Disappointment. They criticize putting words in the Lord's mouth and distrusting people who claim the Holy Spirit told them the date.
  • Every breath is preparation; inviting the doomsday group on 1:45:05–1:54:14
The hosts argue the end could come before bedtime, so quitting your job to preach only after hearing a date proves you weren't living ready. They announce Matt Cassidy's return and plan to invite the May 21 group on the show, ideally scheduled May 23 so they can announce a cancellation. They close on heresy: misleading people keeps the focus on man and dates instead of Christ.
  • Sign-off and music plugs 1:54:14–1:55:29
The sign-off: Monday 10-to-midnight slot, Sunday AM 940 reminder, past musical-guest performances, and a plug for Jess Anderson's iTunes release Syndrome of Fire with a free tune, plus a Friday show in Nola.

You know, like, we're doing it for God, therefore it's automatically okay. I know when I've had a bad day, because a lot of people say, hey, good sermon. I'm thinking, they just don't know what to sell. You know, what else do you say? Man, that was weak. Or they weren't listening. They were balancing the old checkbook. Yeah, that could be. Actually, I tell you what, Dan. Laundry list. That's the one thing keeping us from getting Wi-Fi in our areas. People will be checking their Facebook all the time. Yeah, that is the, you're going to get to heaven, and they're going to look at you and say, hey, Dan, you know, you were doing great, but the biggest downfall of your ministry was Angry Birds. And then from there, you lost everybody. It's gone. Have you played that Angry Birds? Yeah, yeah. Have you really? Yeah, I've played it. Is it good? Yeah, I got it on my iPod. It's a fun game. It's not addictive. I don't know what you're talking about. Well, you take the birds and slingshot them at like a bunch of arrows and boogers or something. You land on boogers.

Really? Yeah, I don't know. I never really got that. I mean, it's cool at all, but it's not, I wouldn't call it the be-all-in-to-all. It's all right. I think it was all right. Yeah, yeah. So what was your guys' take on the Atheist Prayer Room? What did you think? Well, I'll tell you, I'll go first. Dan spent that much time there. He pretty much camped out in there. But I'll give you my thoughts on it, and then we'll see what Dan has to say. So I spent some time in there. I was in there Friday morning with Dan. I was able to walk around. I think some of the best moments for me were, these were the best. We're kind of just sitting up top. We were on the sixth floor, and you got to kind of look down. Are you able to show photos on here? Yeah. I should have talked to that later, because I put them on Facebook. Yeah, I'll find one. Okay. I'll find a photo of it. But you can look down, and you can kind of see everybody milling about. And spending time praying up there was cool, because doing it down on the floor where they're

walking around was kind of tough, because you didn't want to be, we're trying not to be offensive, or like, hey, are you praying over there, as opposed to having to, me and Dan were eating breakfast, and I did one of these, when I was getting ready to eat, I did one, you know, wiping my, like as if I had an itch on my nose, and I do this. Dear God, bless the bacon. But that was a cool, that was kind of a cool space, because you kind of take everybody in and say, and look at all of them, and just say, you know, look. Like, my primary prayer was that they would walk away unsatisfied, because I think, you know, scaring them, like the guys with the signs, or like, you know, telling that they're wrong. I'm pretty sure they weren't scared by them signs. You know what I'm saying? Like, well, I mean, like, or tempted to scare them. They thought they were pretty funny, yeah. They were taking pictures by them, and. Like, Lord, help them realize that if they don't turn, they're going to burn in hell. You know, like, that's not effective, and that doesn't develop a real relationship with Christ, and frankly, it's the relationship part that they're missing out on. So, like, what I was hoping for is, like, if there's a way, just help them to feel unsatisfied, to listen to the people going on, and look around and say, you know what? These people are angry, and I don't understand, because I'm not an angry guy, and I don't understand why we're so angry. Or, like, you know, this is not hurting me. I don't understand why I'm getting so upset. Right. So, you know, that was, if you walk away, and you're not satisfied, or you're confused, and you're looking for that little thing more, because, like, that will always be the

case, right? Like, admitting that there's something more in your life that you don't have is a pretty solid step towards turning to God for that, right? Because people that fill their lives with money, with their career, with treasures, like, with whatever, you know, at some point, the reason they continue to pursue that is because there is something that's still missing from their life. And so, if you can recognize that and turn to God with it, you can fill the hole. Well, maybe you still love the stuff that you loved before, right? But you don't find that yearning to say, I have to do more. I have to go more. I have to find more. I have to buy more, you know? And that's something, unfortunately, these people are never going to, they're never going to fill. Like, they're never going to fill that. And, you know, the thing is, it's like, I think what they're doing here is they're trying to fill it by turning their back on the very thing that can take care of it. And because if otherwise you have an emptiness in your life, you've got to fill your time somehow to think, you know what, if I could just get these religious people off my back, I wouldn't feel this anymore. You know what? And I think, and so that was a lot of what I prayed about is just, you know, help them feel unsatisfied so that they will turn the right direction to get to the right place. You know, my observation, and this is just from, well, observing, you know, listening to conversations, not like in a freaky, you know, stalking way, but just, you know, you're sitting there at a table next to someone, you can't help it, but hear things you're saying, especially when you're, okay, I was listening in a creepy way.

I was kind of being creepy. Yeah. If I had one of those little spy kids, I would have used it. But observing their actions and their words and their attitude, I think a lot of the people in this convention are people who may be, they've been exposed to the church in some way, probably a very traditional type of, a rigid type of… Religious church. Religious church. There was no relationship in the first place. One of those religious churches. One of those religious churches. I mean, there was no, like, relationship with God, but there was rules, and they got hurt, they got burned somehow, maybe they broke one of the, you know, the rules, you know, and probably legitimately, you know, like sinners, but the church didn't handle it well, you know, rather than trying to love them back to Christ or something, they just, like, slammed the door on them or something. Right, they said that kind of behavior is not going to go on in our church. Exactly. Because these people, they weren't just, you know, I don't believe in God, they were mad at God, they were ticked off at God. Right. You know, they had a masquerade party one night, and people dressed up in church costumes, you know, priests and nuns and preachers with the robes and that kind of stuff. You know, they didn't dress up, well, one person dressed up as a banana, okay, that was kind of fun. There you go. That's just…

There's a guy having a good time with it. There, you're there to have fun. That's what they said they were there to do. So one person really was, hey, I'll be a banana, you know. But everybody else was, like, mocking the church. And it's like, if you don't believe in the church, why are you so upset about it? Why would it even enter your mind to think, ha, ha, ha, I'm going to mock this thing I don't believe in? Yeah. You know, like, I kept thinking the whole weekend, it's like, well, I don't believe in UFOs, but I don't go around mocking people who believe in UFOs. I don't go, I don't wear, you know, UFOs or stupid t-shirts, you know, stuff like that. It's just, like, kind of ridiculous, you know, because it doesn't consume me. It consumes them. It does. It does. And actually, that was one of the things that I found myself end up praying about is, you know, I prayed for them in general. And then I, for some reason, my prayer just turned over to, you know, I started to pray that us as a body of believers don't, that we're not the cause of this situation. You know, or, I shouldn't, I don't know if it's the cause, I don't know how directly that's related, but, you know, that we're providing a church atmosphere that doesn't turn people away from God. You know, that we're not a perfect, but a good representation of what Christ's love looks like. And because I figured 75% of those people down there had that exact response, you know, like they went to a church, people were a poor showing of what God's love and Christ's

sacrifice was about, and they said, well, if this is what the church is, and if this is what your God looks like, then I'm out of here. This is terrible, you know? And then, you know, you want to know where they get their ammo from? Look at the guy in the monkey suit sitting out front protesting. Yeah. Look at the four caravan buses I saw today pulling into the Walmart with the end of the world is in May, you know? And you wonder why people leave. Exactly. You know, I mean, you know, and so I ended up, I just ended up praying for us to be a good example of what Christ's love is supposed to be, a fallen example, but an example nonetheless that we can say, look, we're all broken people, and, you know, your sin is my sin. Our sin, you know, we murdered our Savior together as a team here, you know? And so it's, everything's on us. And so, and I think people have such a hard time doing that. They, I don't know, after a while, especially, you know, as you, you know, in your church, you start, you get yourself kind of weaseled up on that throne a little bit, you know? And, you know, like, well, if the Lord's not going to show his face directly today, I'll take care of the judgment today. You know, God will take the big judgment, but I'll take it today and tomorrow. And then, you know, I'm sure someone else in my church will cover this weekend for judging others, you know? Yeah. And so, you know, I don't know, I just start to feel real bad. Like, you know, some of this is our fault. You know, some of this is directly our fault.

Yeah, some of it is directly our fault. I think it is. Yeah. You're right. I mean, them staying away. It's on them. Right. And frankly, you know, even if you guys went off the deep end, our Christian doctrine flew out the window, and all of a sudden our church was believing in all kinds of crazy stuff, you know, I could still say that my relationship with Christ is going to continue. I'd be very disappointed in you guys. And there'd be some hardcore rebuke that would come in your way. But I would probably just leave and say, you know, I'll find a church with a body of believers that's following the Bible, you know? You won't get the banana suit. And the bananas will be left to their own accord. Exactly. I'll tell you another thing that I thought about. There was a guy in the news. In fact, it was one of the spokespeople for the Atheist Convention. They said one of the reasons that they chose Des Moines was because we had recently passed the gay marriage law. You know, and they thought that was great. And for the longest time, I thought, you know, between us and, you know, the Christians and the atheists, I thought, you know, the atheists always run on logic, reason, you know, thinking, scientific thinking. You know, and it never quite sat well with me, their thoughts on homosexuality.

I'm like, I don't, I'm not following you here. There's a disconnect here somewhere. And then it finally came to me that the disconnect is that they completely, they're embracing homosexuality as if it's part of logic and reason. You know, as if it's a logical means to a scientific end. If, then, that. You know what I'm saying? And the problem is, is that homosexuality in general is, is the welfare of relationships. You know what I'm saying? If everybody did it, no one could do it. You know, just like, just like, just like regular welfare. Hold on now. There's a bumper sticker there somewhere. Let that sit for a minute. Hmm. Okay. So, you know, you hear what I'm saying? Like, if everybody's on welfare, no one can be on welfare. If everybody's working, no one has to be on welfare. And, and, and the same goes for homosexuality. Like, this is where their evolution thing, this is where I see the disconnect. Because they can only, that, that lifestyle can only be purported because everybody's not doing it. Yeah. Because as soon as everyone says, okay, that's where we're going, or that's a, that's a scientific rationality, then if everybody was, was, was gay, then nobody could be gay. We're done in one generation.

Because there'd be nobody. I mean, wouldn't that be the, wouldn't that be the, would that be the natural selection? It's a, it's a, a change. Like, let's say it's, it's natural, right? It's part of the genes. So you have it at birth. I mean, wouldn't that be the part of the, the person that doesn't perpetuate itself? That's a breed of folks that would die off. So by evolution standards, that'd be the weak link. Right. Right. And so, and for some reason that just hit me today, like, that's the disconnect. Like, and, and, and that's where I decided. We're obviously not scientists. I'm just saying, like, that's, that's, that's the leap where I look at it and I say, you know, people, people who, who purport their entire organization on rational thinking, logic and, and, you know, let's get faith out of it because there's no scientific backup for this, but they embrace, you know, a homosexual lifestyle. They're only embracing that because the church isn't. They're only embracing that because God says, I don't like it. It's a sin. And, you know, I, I'm not for this, you know, and, and, and nowhere does it say that God doesn't love the people involved in the sin. He just says, I don't like the sin. And so that's the disconnect for me. Like, I don't see, that's where it comes off as a blatant anti-God movement and not just a group of people who like to have scientific thoughts.

Well, why would you have de-baptisms if you didn't believe in baptism? You know, somebody who, I don't remember who it was, but I saw the comment on the Facebook and said, you know, that's, that's not atheism. That's cultic. That's cult. And, you know, the more I thought about that, that's completely true. That's right. Because really, if you heard somebody, you know, they come into the church and say, hey, man, I was dunked in Jell-O when I was eight years old because of this clown cult I was in. We wouldn't like, well, we need to de-clown cult that guy. We're like, that's goofy. I'm sorry you spent time in Jell-O. But like, so all, because, because really all they're saying is like, and it was for the living and the dead. We say, hey, my, my, because really to their extent from a rational thinking mind, if they don't believe baptism, what it says is, all you're saying is, grandma took a bath 40 years ago. Well, we better do something about that. Yeah. Yeah. That's outrageous. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Like, it was, and it was weird because it was that same line of thinking that I didn't understand. I saw, we did, we posted a YouTube clip, I don't know, it says October 1st of 2010.

It's when we first, we kind of heard about it and we were kind of chatting about this atheist event coming up. And part of the discussion we had was, it had been reported that the folks from the atheist had asked that the Bibles be pulled from the hotels. Okay. And so we talked about that for a little bit. And some, some guy got on and left a comment on our YouTube clip and said, you know, let me make some corrections here. You know, first, let's see, they, the reason they took the Bibles out of the rooms is many atheists throw them in the trash if they see one. Well, yeah. So that's a different guy. So the first guy was, that is the first guy. No, that's the, that's the, that's the, that's the guy that left it today. Oh, right. So one said that they don't care whether it's in there or not. The other guy said, the active atheist community in Iowa. Okay. So then some guy got on there and this is what, six months later. And he says, the reason they took the Bibles out of the rooms is many atheists throw them in the trash if they see one because they consider it poison and a detriment to society as do I. So from a sphere of, I'm a logical thinker, let's say there's a book in a room that I don't agree with. It's a work of fiction. Okay. Does this, his line of thinking is I go to the public library, I find a book that I don't agree with how the characters behave.

I take it off the shelf. I throw it away. Wouldn't they scream censorship on that? That's exactly, like, does this not sound like a radical Christian to you? It does. Like a guy who says, hey man, that's poison. We're going to get rid of it. We're going to burn it. We're going to hold a, you know, candlelight vigils about it. We're going to get in the news about it. We hate it. It's dirty. That's, isn't this exactly what this guy's saying? He's saying, you know what, this is, it's poison. I don't like what it says. This work of fiction. So I'm going to take the hotel's property and throw it away. Yeah. That doesn't sound like a guy that's not. That's not logic. Invested in, like, poking somebody in the eye. Actually, to be fair, I think the same way of the hotel's conditioner. It claims on the bottle to be a high quality product that is not tested on animals. And I read the bottle and I say, this is a work of fiction. This is junk conditioner. And then I throw it immediately in the garbage. I find this man to be a rational thinker.

You know, I've stayed in motels where there was a Quran. I don't throw it away. Did you look and say, this is poison and throw it in the trash? It is poison, but I don't throw it in the trash. The same with the Book of Mormon. You know, I've been to stay in motels where there's a Book of Mormon. It's like, you just look at it and say, well, isn't that a nice fictional book? Yeah. And then you say, well, that's silly. I'll take it to the John with me. I just didn't understand it. Like, that is not, that right there is not the mind of a rational thinker. That's irrational behavior. Here's something I don't like. Burn it. Throw it in the trash. So the hotel's property, even. It's not like a guy came to the door and handed it to him and he did it. This is like, the hotel puts it in and you say, you know what? I don't care with what they've put in the room, these books. I'm just going to throw them away. That's not rational thinking. No. No. Well, and that's the thing. See, that's where I find the disconnect to be is, you know, they'll claim up and down that they, that's what they run on.

They love the thought process and scientific, you know, this and that. And the thing is, like, if that's the truth, they, like, my main point, you know, our main point as Christ followers is we believe in a God. The side point is, is that we're against certain sins. Their point is, is that we believe in logical thinking, rational argument. Thought processes, this and this and that. And, but for some reason, their main running point is we don't believe in God. That should be their side point. You know what I'm saying? Like, we believe in science. You know, like their, their conventions most likely should just be all about scientific theories and what the world is doing in the development of atoms and this and that. And, and, but the side point is because of what we believe, we don't believe in God. You know, that's kind of the side point to their main belief. But they've moved it to the forefront where it's like, this is it. This is what we think, which, which means it's just, it's, it's phony. It's a shadow. Yeah. This is an attack on the church and we just had to come up with some excuse to, because we're atheists. Yeah, that's it. You know. Yeah. It was, I don't know. It was still, it was an interesting deal. So Dan, you spent a lot of time in that atheist prayer room. Like any other, any other thoughts coming out of it?

Yeah. You kind of go through the whole gamut of, of emotion with the whole thing. On one hand, you kind of feel sorry for the people because they're so lost, you know, and, and, and they think they're so not lost, but they, but they are, it's a technical term. Yeah. And part of it, you get defensive because it's the human sides. Do you hear people say little comments and, and, and all of their side conversations are, are mocking the church, you know? So, um, and you're just like, why? Well, we, man, get over it, you know, you know, and, um, at the end of the day, I mean, it was, it was exhausting. I can't even tell you how exhausting it was. It was, it was, uh, I stayed there Wednesday night, Thursday night. No, no. It was Thursday night, Friday night, uh, Saturday, uh, late, I, uh, late afternoon or whatever. I went off for, for a wedding and, um, I left the building. I was just like absolutely just exhausted, which is, you know, it's, you know, it's, it's just kind of an odd thing. I think just from the, the pure outpouring of emotion and prayer, you're always praying. Like you said, you were praying down over the, over the sixth floor, looking down into where they were. Yeah, I showed a picture of that too. Go ahead and keep talking. I'll show it again. And, uh, or even eating breakfast down there. Uh, I think the picture you showed earlier was where the breakfast area was. Whoops.

That, that was a nice one though. That wasn't broadcast. Go ahead. This is, this is the picture looking down, um, from the sixth floor on the lobby. There's a story behind that that you don't need to hear. I'm afraid I'm going to have to show it to him now that we've been laughing at it. Um. Close. Okay, go ahead. It was. It's, uh, it's just draining, praying, praying for people the whole time, knowing that you're wanting it more than they are. You want it more than they do. You, you want them to, to have salvation and they don't. And you believe in God and they don't and that whole thing. And, and I don't know. Well, and that was, that was kind of the tough part. It's, it's always the, it's always the, the end of the deal where, you know, you want something for them that they don't want at all or think they don't want. And like, and they'll say, you know, don't, don't pray for me. We saw that there was some, an interview going on with a couple other dudes, uh, atheist guys. And they're like, you know what, whatever you don't pray for me, it's offensive. But it would be like a guy walking around, you know, with a, with a, a rabid raccoon stuck to his leg who has no idea it's there. And you're like, dude, I want to help you get that raccoon off. And they're like, there's no raccoon in my leg.

I'm smarter than you. Don't, don't try to play me. I know raccoons. I'm fine. It's like, uh, that raccoon doesn't exist. What was that movie with, uh, uh, where they kept cutting off the guy's arm? You know, you've lost your arm. No, I haven't. Oh yeah. The body Python movie. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Where he kept cutting off limbs. It's just merely a flesh wound. You know, so it's that very same thing. It's like, I understand where they're coming from. They're like, I don't need it. Like, you know, there's a raccoon on your leg. And I know you don't see it. And I know you don't want me to do anything about it. But doggone it, I'm, I'm going to try to get that raccoon off your leg because. Yeah. There's a raccoon on your leg. Yeah. And so it's a very, it's the exact same concept with it, with the person who's missing God from life is they, they don't know that they're missing him. They don't know what their life would be if they had that experience in the life. And so regardless of whether they like it or not, sometimes you just got to pray that

the raccoon comes off. Yeah. Well, in all honesty, I was in there, I think it was Saturday day. I was in there from about five to, I think it was 1230 when I finally left when Ben came in. You know, I, I had talked to you beforehand and you know, Dan said that it was emotionally and spiritually draining and I didn't really understand what you're talking about. I was like, okay, well, yeah, it's, it's praying, man. It's like, yeah, we did it at the prayer room at church. Why is it any different? You know, I completely agree with you now. I mean, 100% agree with you. I was, Ben walked in and around, oh, I'd say at 1145 and I'm just sitting on the couch, just kind of staring at him blankly. I'm like, wow. But you do that most every day. Yeah, pretty much. Just kind of lay on the couch and stare blankly. But it was just completely interesting the fact that, you know, I was sitting there and I was praying and I was praying to, you know, sitting there over, looking over the ledge and everything like that, looking at people just saying, you know, I pray for these people, Lord, lift these, lift this building up and all this different stuff. And I started kind of getting down into, into more detail of Lord, you know, help their souls, help them to understand where they're coming from and, and where we're coming from entirely is, you know, we're trying to love on these people. Yeah. And they.

But the motives were, we're out of love. I mean, it wasn't like, we think we're better than you. Well, actually, I caught a lot of flack from people I know that follow Christ, you know, for even getting involved. It's like, why do you have to go down there and be pious, judgmental Christians, you know? Yeah, that really wasn't the idea. And, and, and I did, I did, I catch that because I told a couple of people about it that I knew like at work and stuff, you know, that follow, you know, they know the Lord. And I thought this ought to be an interesting story, something for us to talk about, you know? And they're like, yeah, I don't even know what you did down there. You know what? That was a mistake. You know, I mean, you're just another one of them causing the problem. And I'm like, man, we couldn't have been any more incognito, incognito about it. Yeah. You know, and I thought, I thought, I thought it would be, it would run on its own steam. Like, hey, we're just tannering it over the Lord. You know, that's all we're doing. Right. And, and I caught a lot of flack from the Christian community about it. And I thought, well, that's too bad. Okay. Last week, you know, we were kind of talking about what we're going to do. And we had someone on chat, you know, saying, hey, you really got to go in there and you got to preach, you got to preach, you got to preach, you know, and we kept saying, hey, we've been called to pray.

Other people, you know, can be called to preach. We don't know. I mean, all we know is we've been called to pray. And, and, and, you know, even in the midst of saying that, I kept thinking, well, you know, he's really right. I mean, the word of God is, you know, they've been inactive and the whole thing. I thought, but, but still, nonetheless, we were called to pray. So that's what we were going to do. And it was kind of neat for me because, you know, like I said, we started Thursday and we prayed from, from 3 p.m. on Thursday and all day Friday and all day Saturday. And as I'm leaving Saturday, you know, I'd, I'd maybe left twice. Once was to go to Spaghetti Works and eat and, and once to go to Java Joe's. Other than that, I was there the whole time. And as I'm leaving the, the, the, the hotel to go to this wedding, I look out and there's like these little street evangelist guys all over the place, you know, and, and, and they appear to be having intelligent conversations. They weren't like the, the people with the signs and the gorillas. They were like, just, it was what I overheard was like intelligent conversation. Right. And I thought, well, there we go. We've been praying for three days, kind of like the air raid. You know, you go into an attack of place and, and there's like, you have a commander in chief. He says, here's, you don't, you don't have to know what all the other services to do. And all I know is I've got the airplane. I'm going to bomb that building, you know? Right.

And, and so, so God called us to pray. We were cultivating this all. We were doing something, praying, praying, praying, praying. And then a few days later, the ground troops came in from who knows who, I don't know who did it, who was there, who at church did that, or if it was just people individually. But that's kind of cool to think God had a plan already. And we stuck to the plan that, that we were called to do without being sidetracked, you know? Right. Because it's real easy to take the, to take the glorious spot of being, of being the Paul, you know, of being the guy that's like, you know, you need people to talk to other people about Christ, I'm your man. You know, I will handle the witnessing here. I know everything there is to know about God. And I will reach people for Jesus. Yeah. You know, and, and, and maybe it does every once in a while take a time to step back and say, you know, why don't you figure out what God wants you to do here? You know, maybe there's a guy that's better at it than you or more compatible with the guy that we're after, you know, to talk to about Christ. And he'll find you offensive. He finds this guy palatable. He thinks you're a jerk. So, you know, I mean, sometimes that, that seems like such a weird dichotomy to think that a great witness for Christ can sometimes be full of his own steam, you know, be full of his own virtue for God. Like I am so good for God.

I am the guy to send in to do this, you know, and maybe that's not what God's going for you this time, you know? I mean, as long as you're praying on it and the Lord keeps on ascending you, then, you know, have at it. But as soon as you, you throw up that disconnect between you and God and you start deciding how you're going to serve God's kingdom, that's a mistake, you know? And so, you know, maybe God had us on the air raid for a reason. Who knows? Yeah. Yeah. I felt pretty good about it. Well, that's the thing is that we prayed on it and that, and that, that was the, that was the answer we got back, you know? And so, and it was, we verified it with everybody who was praying on it and said, what do we got? And we say, look, everyone involved here saying God's saying prayer, let's do it. You know? And so you can't lose really. Yeah. I like it. Overall, I think a pretty, a pretty sweet experience. Yeah. I guess given the circumstance, I mean, again, it was kind of like, you know, of a, it was kind of a downer. Like every once in a while, you, I, you know, we, I think we were sitting there eating breakfast and I, you know, I just saw a couple of people walking around and looking, I thought, you know, I, I can't, I'm not going to say anything to that guy, but boy, I really hope he.

I thought that about the old people. I had a problem. There was a lot of old people there. You know, it was weird. I said that today and I was really surprised. And this is probably just my ignorance on the matter, but like, I was surprised to see so many old folks and ladies. Like when I think atheist, I think angry dude. Right. Angry, middle-aged. Angry, young, young, uh, self, self-propped up dude, you know, or, or confused dude. Angry is probably not completely. I mean, that's, that's, that's, that's a little stereotypical, but you know, I think dude, I think like a, like a 30 to 40 year old guy is probably what I think. Um, and there was a, there was an old lady there. I can't, I can't begrudge the quality of this shirt. It's like a, it's a white sweatshirt with a, with happy heathen written on it. And I thought, well, that's clever. I mean, I don't like what you stand for, but I, you know, it was, it was in rainbow letters and everything. I thought, well, that's, you know, you know, one of the things that, one of the things that, I mean, I saw when I was looking down in the, on the, uh, main commons area of the hotel, I was, I was there, I think it was probably, I'd say seven o'clock on Saturday night. And I looked down and I saw a table of a bunch of 16, 17, eight year old guys, or there was a couple of girls guys. And I looked down and I saw one of the dudes that looked like to be one of the speakers and he comes and walks over and he sits down and starts just talking to these kids and

these kids are just smiling. They're like, yeah, yeah, yeah. And I was thinking to myself, I'm like, oh my gosh, this guy right here, this, this older dude that's walking down is just trying to sway these kids minds. Cause nine times out of 10, I mean, I understand that there's, there's different situations with all these kids, but most of them are just confused and are just going to be like, well, I don't know what I believe. Well, here's what a lot of people are doing. I'm going to run over here and check this out for a bit. And this guy's sitting here witnessing to these people in the wrong way and is saying all this different stuff. Obviously I don't know what he was saying. I was probably 150 feet above him, but. You sure made up the conversation in your head. Yeah. Obviously. Maybe he was like, look, I need one of you young bucks to help carry my bag. Can you help me? And they're like, yeah, yeah, yeah. Or, or I'm considering changing my ways and living Christ. I don't think there was a 20 minute conversation about, Hey, can you carry my bag? And then no one get up. Well, maybe. Unless they were just very indecisive about grabbing the bag. Maybe it was a long argument about how they're not going to help. I don't think so. Cause I'm not getting on.

He wouldn't give up. Was he, was he waving his hands and stuff? No, no. Like outward movement. I don't know. Troy, this story is pretty conjecture. You're right. It is. There's a lot. That was my opinion on the situation. And I thought to myself, if this is the case, obviously I can't say that's what they were talking about. Cause I don't have bionic ears, but if this is a case, I wish I, I can't remember if it was you or you that I talked to. I wish that I could have gone down there five minutes. Just like, Hey guys, seriously, let me talk to you about my side. Let me tell you about the God that's going to love you and not about the science that's going to sit in the textbook. I mean, I don't know. I like your style, Troy. I'm going to stand and watch people from a hundred feet away and go, what? There's a dinosaur around the block. And then I'm going to go, okay, I'm just guessing here, but Lord, if there's a dinosaur around the block, please take care of it. I don't, I don't want to see this dinosaur. Lord, please keep this T-Rex out of this hotel. This thing's going to go on a rampage and eat us all.

I don't know if it can climb very well or go in an elevator very well, but if it comes up here, I'm in a lot of trouble. Unless he eats raccoons and then sit back for that guy. There's one guy in his leg. Take him down. The Lord's come back with play Michael Bolton. Dinosaurs are afraid of Michael Bolton. I better learn. Obviously, okay, now that I look back on it, it's very presumptuous. Listen, if it guides your prayer life, there's no problem. Exactly. Well, it was presumptuous on my part, but still, I just thought to myself, you know, I just wish that I'd have a couple minutes to those kids because at one point in time, I wasn't that sad. Obviously, no offense to you guys, but I was a lot. Well, that was a shorter time ago for me that I was 16. Right. And I was, you know, I mean, yeah, I grew up in the church and I've been a pathway for since its beginning, but, you know, there was times when I was just like… You're not going to tell the story about the hotel and the Book of Ruth again, are you? Esther, actually. No, I'm not going to tell that story. I was just saying, you know, at one point in time, yeah, I was going through the motion of coming to church, but I was in doubt. I mean, I was thinking to myself, you know, what if there really is a God? I mean, is there a God or, you know, I want to go over here? And I was confused and I was trying out a lot of different stuff and I'm glad that I came

back to God and decided that this is the path that I want to take and this is the faith that I have. And I love Jesus Christ with all my heart and he is my Lord and Savior. But, you know, a lot of them are confused. Well, and I tell you what, when you're approached by a nice old man in a blue blazer who looks like he wouldn't hurt anything, you're like, oh, he's such a nice old man. Look at what this guy says. Yeah, he's lived a lot of life more than me. What are you selling? I need to get a blazer. He's got it all figured out. Wait, you know, the weird part was when I walked in the hotel the first time, like we were coming in there for the first hour, we were going to open her up, the prayer or whatever, and I go rolling in there and for some reason, like I get out of the car and I look at myself, I'm like, okay, I don't have any Christian type markings on me. I got my Pathway shirt off. All right, I am in, you know, and I start walking in and then I start walking kind of slow. Like I think everyone's on to me already. Like, oh no. I didn't get any more than three steps in, you know. There's a guy right behind me and he's come walking in the door and I hold the door open for him. I look down and I'm like, I bet he's the ringleader. Can we speak? I just held the door open for the ringleader. I thought that I saw the ringleader in the elevator because he had a bigger name tag and a couple ribbons.

I wonder who's handing out the ribbons. I thought I saw the ringleader because I saw a guy with a blazer on that had like 47 buttons. That's what I'm saying. Atheist of the year. He was the guy. I think that was the guy. How do you become atheist of the year? I don't believe in God the most. I've got to dislike God stronger. What I really liked about this though is we got to, without them having the alarms and the defenses go up because we had Jesus written on us somewhere, they just assumed we were one of them. Yeah. So we could have conversations in the elevator walking. Hey, how you doing? Oh yeah. Blah, blah, blah. You know, they could be standing right there saying, well, yeah, we're going to take the Bibles out of our room. Can you believe there's Bibles in the room? And in our hearts, we're going, oh man, I want to say something so bad. You know, it's like, but we weren't there to do that. And instead you're going, yeah. No, I didn't say it. No, I didn't agree with that. I don't know if I'd go as far as lying to that.

I'm with you. I'm really trying to finish. It's King James. Get rid of it. You know, and the cool part was is we didn't just have people from our own church community. You know, we had body of believers coming from all sorts, you know, coming to pray. And I ran into a, you know, a small group from another church. And Jeff Arendale, who we've had on the show, was out. Yeah. And it was really cool to see him. And they took a full hour of, you know, rocking the prayer. And I don't know. It was just a really good experience. If not only for, you know, God will do whatever he wants with people's hearts. You know, if they turn to him. God's not a closed door, you know. I mean, he's a patient and loving God. And he'll wait until they're ready. But, you know, I mean, the prayer is just as beneficial for them as it is for us. You know, I mean, it's just a time to come close and find out what God's got going for us. And saying, you know, here's what we, you know, obviously these people need you. You know, we'll just, you know, throw up a prayer for her. No hurts, no, you know, no foul. So, I don't know. It was a very cool experience. I liked it. Apart from that, me holding the door open for the head guy.

I should have just let it go. No. And they had the children there, too. Just because he's the head guy doesn't mean you can't love on them. That rips at your heart. Ben's trying to pray for their non-discernment. So, they're like, they feel unfulfilled. What's wrong with me hitting the guy in the ankle with the door before he comes in? Well, in all honesty, Ben. Maybe he can't make it. Ben and I talked about it for a couple minutes when we kind of met up around 1130. And he was like, you know, I've been praying, Lord, confuse him. Make him walk out of here just like, man, that was not what I wanted it to be. So that they have doubts. And I was like, dude, I didn't even think about that. That's awesome. But that would be funny if the Lord's Prayer, if your prayer had come true like to a T and there was a bunch, 80 of them walking around in the middle of the lobby yelling crazy things. Like, there's a raccoon on my leg. What's with all these raccoons? I hate this convention. I really thought, because we were on the sixth floor, I thought, you know, I was trying to figure out something clever you could throw or like write on a piece of paper. Holy water. It was more like oil. I can hear what you're saying, and I don't like it. Love Jesus. They're going to toss it out and then run away. They're like, Jesus is speaking to me.

So I was shaking people's hands, but I put Crisco on my hand. So like holy oil thing. I was like, oh, yeah, you've been anointed. Sanctified. Sanctified. I am totally sure that you got to more than one guy when you were known as the guy with the Crisco on his hand. Christian circles, non-Christian circles. Spreading everywhere. You're gross. I don't think it matters. Stay away from the guy with the cooking oil. Excuse me, ma'am. Can I spray some Pam on you? This dude was shortening all over his hands. I think he loves Jesus. That is shortening. It's one of those Jesus freaks. That dude had the weirdest handshake of all time. It was like slippery. Then they say, if that's what those Christ followers are about, I am out. They're not bringing people to Jesus. They're like, man, I really don't want Crisco on my hands every time I go to church. Dad goes, I would like to lay hands on you. Not a chance. He's like, I'm a free thinker. Go for it. You can get your oily fingers away from my jacket.

If I could only grab it. Stupid Crisco hands. I can just imagine a bunch of dudes just, Dan walks in, everybody runs to the other side of the room. They're like, hey man, you keep your Crisco covered hands away from me. I'm sick of this nasty stuff. I'm going to go talk to that guerrilla protester. I was so fried by Saturday. I mentioned that earlier. I was so fried. I mean, my mind was just like jelly. I had this wedding that Saturday night. I do this wedding. We're at the van. I'm like, okay, everything's written out for me. I don't have to worry about my brain frying. Except at the very end, I have the couple turn around and face the audience. I say, I now introduce to you Mr. and Mr. blah, blah, blah. And everybody started laughing. I'm like, that came out wrong. Did you just think to yourself, Mulligan? I was like, you really can't take that back. I said, I really don't do those. Just in case they're thinking, oh, he's used old notes. It's like, no, I don't do those. Old notes. There's a guy in the back.

Gosh, yucks. I thought we found a guy. I liked that guy. Nice shirt, by the way. He's such a sweet feature. Fortunately, they're fun-loving people, and they thought it was rather hilarious. What was even funnier was before the wedding, I kind of go back to where the guys are, and they had a whiskey flask thing. Was that what they called? A flask? Yeah. A whiskey thing. And they saw me like, oh, they tried to hide it, and they're like, well, okay, bust it. And one of the guys goes, hey, do you want some? And I said, dude, believe me, I don't even need that stuff. And so I kind of confirmed it as he was walking out. I was like, I told you. Oh, Mr. and Mr. You know, I went to a wedding once, and I was walking outside or whatever in the rooms when we were out in the back, and they were sitting there, a couple of them were drinking a beer or whatever, and then this guy goes to pull a flask out of his pants, and his pants were so tight that you could see the outline of the flask. And I said, I think you're missing the point, man. Some people don't know. That's right. The flask is kind of to hide the drink. It's a little bit of carrying around a big bottle.

And your pants are so tight, you can see the outline of the flask. That's my small Bible. I don't think you're getting it. That's my New Testament Bible. Yeah, exactly. Living water, anybody? Living water. Living water. Living water. It was weird. You were saying about that, you checking yourself for Christian propaganda before you went in. So I was in my car. I pulled up, and I realized I had my Pathway sweatshirt on. It's my go-to shirt in the in-between weather. And so I had it on. The hoodie? Yeah. Yeah. And so I thought, I can't wear that. But it was too brisk out to go in the quasi-nude. So I looked around my car, and I found another sweatshirt in there. And I put it on, and I started walking in. And it occurred to me about 20 feet in that I had blown my nose on that shirt not a week ago. If I just had some Crisco. And I thought, oh. That's so gross, man. And then by that time, I mean, I already had it on.

I had a layer of protection. But it's pretty weird, like, when you know that you blew your nose on this shirt, but you can't take it off. I would recommend to you to keep Kleenexes in your car from now. What am I going to do with those? I've never in my life blown my nose on a shirt. I don't know. I do it all the time. Seriously? Never. You've never what? Blown my nose on a shirt? Neither have I. Never once. Are you serious? You guys live a different life. Obviously. That ain't no kidding, brother. I never thought to myself, hmm, you know what? That's not that nice of a shirt. All right, fine. It's like, no. Well, it's washable. Point taken, yes, it's washable. But still, when you don't wash it and leave it in your car, and I know myself. I'm going to need a dried up shirt, right? In all honesty, I know myself. If I take a shirt off while I'm driving or something like that, like I've got a sweatshirt on,

I throw it off my car, I leave it there for, like, weeks. And blow your nose on it? No, I wouldn't blow my nose on it. That's what I'm saying. Do you keep a hanky? Here's the deal. My wife will let me keep a hanky. She says it's disgusting. I mean, old-style folks did it. Had a nice hanky. There's a lot of stuff that old-style folks did that's really gross today. Hey, hey, SP, she's on the chat. What did you, what's your feedback from the Atheist Convention? You were there. Yeah. You guys have to stop talking. I just thought I'd throw that out. Give me an example of something that old-style people do that you find disgusting. Keep it clean. Are we talking like old-style people that are living today? It was your caveat. Old-style or just old people? I'm taking old-style. Like stuff people… Troy, it was your point. You can't ask other people to elaborate on your own point. The question was asked to me, and I don't know what context the question is being asked.

In the same context that you brought it up. Fine. I'm saying old-style, not old people. Okay. Go ahead. So old-style people, obviously… I just completely combined the two. I didn't even realize that. Old-style… Stop stalling, Spangledanger. Whatever. Spangledanger? The clocks are ringing here. Or, no, chicken ringing. There were times when people didn't shower, but showered once a month. That's gross. I can't… I know myself… You're going to adopt the old-style of not showering. I'm just saying, I'm already there. I'm part of the old-style. Go to town. Once a month. Good for you. I don't think… I don't know anybody that used to… My grandma was old-style.

She bathed once a week. Yeah, you don't go to grandma on a… What is it? Saturday night. She always bathed on the night before church. Yeah. So, you don't visit on Thursday. See what I'm saying? There's a reason you didn't visit on Thursday. I'm just… Well, grandma smells… She smelled all right. I don't know. Well, I know myself. I wouldn't smell all right after going six days without a shower. All right. Arendale didn't shower before 1987, because he's trying to perpetuate the lie that showers were not invented until 87. So, I'm assuming that he went dry-style. Just did it and chill the thing and washed off and dust. This baby powder works for everything. Enough deodorant, you don't smell. I specifically remember showering with the football team prior to 1987. What? I was on the football team, okay? Hey, guys. I see you have an open shower policy here.

I've got some… Dan wasn't even on the football team. It was on the chess club. He just needed to shower after chess. Dan from the racquetball courts. I'm here to annoy you. You know, we looked at our budget, and we thought, we can't really afford to spend the 50 bucks for the censor button for Dan. But I'm really thinking that we should reconsider. That was with the filter on. I showered with the football team in 1987. Oh, man. We weren't really going along for a good clip there. You said 50? And then the atheists say, and that is why I don't want anything to do with those guys. You see, one of them doesn't want to shower but once a month. Everyone showers with the football team. Okay, while we're talking showering, okay, I never got this. It was like there were two round pools with shower heads all the way around it, so you're all facing each other. I was like… I think that's just to do with the lack of space. I don't think anyone's just like, all right. Oh, no. They had space all the way. I've been in others. Like the YMCA has them all across the wall where you can look at the wall.

That's the best way to do it. They don't have… They made it so you're like, hey, how you doing? Oh, I'm okay. How are you? That's exactly how my high school was. It's just like, look up. Look up. Who's chatting in there? Hey, how's it going, man? Dude. Man, that guy really hit you. I don't understand yelling at the guys that are already out of the shower and getting dressed and everything, but you're staring a dude down. It's just like… Yeah, they very rarely have the urinal in the round anymore either. You know, it's like a… It's a trough. You know, it's all facing one direction. It's a trough because I feel so awkward when there's not like a wall barrier coming around us. It's like… Because then people are more compelled to actually talk to you. And I'm like, really? You don't need to talk to me. Dude, this separation here, I know it doesn't cover my entire body, and I know it doesn't even go out far enough to cover my entire body, but seriously, this means…

This automatically means we are against you, away from each other, through a force field. Leave me alone. You've been listening to Live from the Path, and if you've been listening for the last seven minutes, you've realized that you've made a mistake. That was a mistake. That was a mistake. Like, I'm sorry. It's my fault. Surely there's more prayer stuff we can talk about. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. Shower, shower, shower. Actually, I thought of a… Actually, when we were talking about that shower thing, and Jeff Arendelle doing the dry shower, it occurred to me that, like, he's watching a band commercial, and he's like, raising your head… I assume deodorant showers. You see kids do that? Apparently, that's the deal. Like, as opposed to taking a shower, you just take the spray deodorant and kind of hold yourself down. I used to do that with actual roll-on deodorant. I would iron it into my shirt, because I thought it would help my shirt to smell clean. If one of my shirts was dirty, I'd take clear deodorant, and then I'd iron it in there. But the problem is that deodorant activates as soon as it gets hot. That's why it keeps the sweat out of the way. So it ends up making a film right where you would iron it in. It doesn't stay clear.

That's the thing about it. So it turns yellow or something, and it kind of burns? Oh, that's so gross. It's very noticeable. Not gross. And honestly… Oh, man. You know what is good idea? If I ever see you with one of those stripes, I'm going to laugh at you. You're saying? From a good smelling perspective, is you take some dryer sheets, and you put them inside your vents at your house. And so every time the heat kicks on, it puts a fresh scent into your place. Or you could buy a candle. Then you've got to light them. But I mean, think of it. Every time the heat comes on… Yeah, no maintenance. Throughout the whole night. If I look at myself, man, I really want a candle. Ah, man, I don't want to light it, though. I mean, it's going to take too much effort. So you have to maintain it, you bulb. You've got to turn it on, and then blow it out, and then fire it back up again. Why are you so comfortable with a stinky house? Everyone else just wants people… Dude, I'm the guy that…

I have candles on my TV in my room. So your place is really stinky. And by your bathtub? No, I don't have any candles. I'm coming in. Look out on. I got bubble stuff, and it's nice. Take me taking my bath. I just have Kenny G's saxophone. I can see you're getting real upset if your special bath music is not available. Like, man, who took the CD in the bathroom? Me and Zanfier spend this time together. It's a designated time. Who used my perk plus? Hey, is Zanfier dead? The pan flute guy? Yeah. I don't know. You haven't heard much from him lately. I haven't seen him forever. No? He dominated late night TV for the longest time. He did. Maybe he ran out of money. It's possible. Emphysema is pretty rough on the pan flute. What?

You think he was a heavy smoker? I don't know. Sounded good. Zanfier loves licks and whatever the cheap smoke is. I mean, he can't buy the expensive ones. He can't make that much money. He's hanging out with checkers. Have you guys seen? Who was it? Oh, my wife. There's a pan flute guy that hangs out at the farmer's market and then also goes to the malls. His name is Pedro Madero. Pedro Madero? Oh, man. My wife got suckered into a CD. I couldn't believe it. She comes home and is like, I bought the pan flute CD. Was it signed? I got his autograph, too. It's absolutely possible. Find one that's not. He printed it on the cover. I think it's Pedro Madero. Oh, that's awesome. I mean, he's all right. But I mean, I certainly don't need to record a music home with me. Well, yeah.

I've met a guy that hits a bucket with a drumstick. He's all right, too. But I wouldn't buy a CD from him. Hey, why won't you buy my CD? It's terrible. Live from the Walgreens. Lenny. My rendition of Stump. He's on there going, go, Lenny, go. I like guys that carry their own support. Because those guys are actually pretty cool. Like, if you're out there, they're one-man shows, playing the harmonica or whatever. But they always got a really good friend who stands next to them and, like, cheers them on. And is, like, really excited about whatever they have going on. I don't have any of those. Like, I don't have anybody that likes me that much. You pay me. I'm there. Like, I want you to support me. Out of the kindness of your heart. Not because I'm giving you ten bones. I want ten bones. Because for ten bones, I can… I'm sorry, but I can buy a more high-style guy to give me support. There's more options for ten dollars. I can barely take you seriously in that giant cowboy. That's a lady's hat.

This is a sombrero from Mexico, okay? It's a lady's sombrero. This is not a lady's sombrero. It looks like you stole it off a well-to-do camel. Here's the deal. This is actually my Easter present. It's a lady's sombrero. Who gave you a sombrero for an Easter present? My grandma. This was the Easter basket. Like, had all the candy in here and all the different stuff. And I hope she's not watching this, but I was like, oh, yeah. She's one of our most faithful watchers. Oh, hopefully not, but in the best of ways. Because I told her I'd wear it to work today, and I wasn't going to lie to her. Why would you promise her that? I would compel you to say that. You would, bro. I don't really like this hat to grandma. I'm going to wear it to work. She looked heartbroken. And I knew she would be if I said, grandma, that's the stupidest hat I've ever seen in my entire life. I don't know how to say that. You don't have to say that's dumb. She's the only thing that I knew would make her feel good if I was just so enthused about it.

Like, yes. Grandma, this is so awesome. Thank you so much for this hat. And the candy. I don't need to eat candy, but thank you. You're a phony. You're a weak-livered man. There's a difference to an old lady, no doubt. There's a difference, okay? There's a difference between being phony and being a loving grandson. Being a loving grandson. Because I told her that I would wear it to work. I never said, oh, I love it with all my heart. I said, I'll wear it to work tomorrow in a happy tone so it made it seem like I loved it, but I did not like it. All right, we're going to try this out to see if you react differently in the same situation. I will be Troy's grandmother. Oh, this doesn't seem like it's going the wrong way. All right, go ahead and open your present, Troy. It wasn't open. It was open. I hope it's bigly chew. So, what do you think? Thanks, Grandma. See how easy that was? That was absolutely horrible. Okay, here's what Troy did.

I hope it's bigly chew. Awesome, bro. I will wear this to work tomorrow, definitely. I will wear this in my wedding. I drew a picture of this last night before I went to bed hoping I would get one. Grandma, this is my, this is the best present ever. Although, I have noticed a trend because of the gigantic lady sombrero, whatever you want to call it. The last six holidays, I've gotten hats. Do I seem like a hat guy? Well, with the reaction you gave your grandma, I would assume people just, that would make me think, oh, I know what I'm getting next year. I think from now on, like, I need to start saying, you know what, I appreciate the hats, but no. Just stop. Yeah. Because I got a hat from my grandma. Why don't you just try telling the truth? Why don't you give an honest reaction to your present? Maybe you won't get crappy presents. The reaction, like, I was smiling because it was thoughtful of her to do so. You're placating an old woman. No. I was, it was very thoughtful of her to do it. So, I wasn't going to be like, okay. Well, any gift is thoughtful. It's not true.

Yes, it is. That is not true. Any gift is not thoughtful. Yes, it is. If you are, like, literally, like, the day before Easter, just like, oh, crap. I need to get some. What is thoughtful about that sombrero? They thought, they said, oh, crap, I wanted to do something nice and haven't done it yet. I don't know if it's, I wanted to do something, it's like, I think I'm going to look like a jerk if I don't do something nice. Those, those aren't thoughts. So, they're thinking of you. In the wrong tense. Maybe if you weren't so judgmental with people, they wouldn't be so afraid not to give you a gift. Me being me, I'm the judgmental guy here. Whatever. Go back to talking about my lady sombrero on a different day. Whatever. Whatever. I'm done with this radio show. I like how you've gone from placating the old lady because she's one foot in and then saying, you know what, I'm going to put the line down, no more hats. It's getting ridiculous. Like, I didn't even notice it until yesterday when I got another hat. My mom got me like a Tasmanian devil, like, little, like, really tight hoodie that goes, like, stocking cap goes to here and then it's got, like, the brown little threads coming

down here that are curled up and I'm just like, here's the, here's the, here's the deal. There's something very disingenuous about your face. You look like a robber. You might be the guy that stole Damasus' moped. Oh. Somebody stole his moped? Yep. No, they found the moped. Yeah, they did. Really? They didn't know that happened. I actually, I thought it was something very funny about that, but it seemed inappropriate to say. Do you know what I almost got today? What's that? So I was riding around with a friend of mine and we were at his workplace or whatever and something was over by the dumpster that caught my eye. How do I? Wait for it. So you know those animatronic animals that they have at, like, the kids' pizza places that sing tunes? Oh, gosh. They were throwing away the whole band. Oh, no. And you did not get it? Okay, here's what happened. I said, are they throwing those away?

He goes, well, I don't know. I suppose I could call. I said, do it. He goes, well, how are you going to get them out of here? I said, I can fit one of them in my van right now and then I'll make arrangements to come pick up the rest of them. We would have emptied a trailer out for that, buddy. So I will go get those directly. So he made a phone call and it's totally cool. The owner said, well, you can have them as long as I don't see you and them on YouTube later and you're doing something weird with them. Fair enough. I said, okay, fair enough. Wait a minute. Hold on. What's the definition of weird? I didn't want to expound. Okay, fair enough. But anyway, the problem is they're not electric. They're pneumatic. So they have to have an air supply. Are they big? Oh, yeah, they're big. We totally need to put one in the corner. Well, that was my thought, but they are very big. Like how big? Really?

They can fit to the ceiling? No, not to the ceiling. Oh, we've got to get it. We've got to get it. Well, wait. It would be a… Here's the thing. I'm currently… We'll be ending the broadcast early this evening. We're still on the hook to take them if we like. And I can get them to work. I just can't store them at my place because I don't have a place. I'm going to put them. That's what I said. In the kids' room. The kids actually use the kids' room. I can put one in my… The basement. How many… The basement has 80 under a thousand things. Two of them are unusable. Okay. Hey, anybody on the chat willing to adopt one of these pneumatic band members? Which one? Okay, which one? I'll take… Okay, I'll take one.

Can you fit one in your garage? I'll put one in the garage. I honestly want to say I'd take one, but I live with Ann and Trey, and they would kill me if I brought that home. Well, thanks, Troy. That's very helpful for you. Ann is throwing knives right now. She's in. We'll take one. We're in. Ann is not freaking out about this. Normally, if I say, man, I want that, she says, absolutely not. Can't we put one in the baptistry? We'll take it out when we use it. How much are these things going to weigh? He's not going to put them back in. Put down your demon music. These are great. How much are these things going to weigh? I mean, obviously, they're tall, but I mean, how much is it? I bet they're 200 pounds. JC, come on. Now, hold on now. I don't think you're thinking this through. Now, think… Picture this, okay? You've had a rough day at work.

Your wife's had a rough day at work. You come home. There's nothing in the place for dinner. And all of a sudden, the showbiz pizza bear is standing there with a warm hot pocket. Now, listen to me. I have the full… I can totally program these fellas to do whatever we want them to do. I'm thinking put on the bathrobes and we have a nativity scene. That's creepy. In the front window here. What does that have to do with the animals? Oh, you want to put the bathrobes on the animals. I happen to have my bathrobe with me. We do have a shower here. Never mind. Never mind. It could have gone either way, to be fair. Arendelle, what if I talk to your wife? You think she can… I'm a pretty smooth character. I think I can talk her into it. Hey, SP, listen here. Indefinitely. I'm not really sure when we're going to be able to get something done with these guys. But if you're willing… Let's put one on the roof. Let's put one on the roof.

Absolutely not. Okay, should I put us on… Put some lights on them. Should I put us on the hook for at least one of them? Welcome to Pathway Church. I'll reconsider if we can keep them here. I'll take one. I could probably find room for one. If Anne really wants one, one has one. Are you serious? I did the same check. I'll stick one. How many of them? I've already made the room. Mike, you said there's four of them? Five. I think there's five. Okay, well I'm down for one too. There's room from the basement for one more. There's four. Okay, I'm going to… Are they wet? Well, they've probably been rained on tonight. Well, are they like… What are they… Okay, I'm confused on where are you getting these from? Who said what?

Dan got in trouble. Who said what? We have a storage area. All we need is camels and donkeys, and we have a nativity scene in the Christmas time. I think this is a great idea. I love it. It's stellar. Okay. I'm confused because I don't know what animals there are. I don't know what… Wait, is it the old show biz? Show biz? It's none of your business. I'm not going to reveal it. It's not public information. We'll put it that way. Okay. But we will certainly talk about it off air. And they have instruments? They have instruments. So we need to… Oh, dude. We'll need to have like a… In fact, I'll tell you how old they are. The horn player is a… Which he's in the worst shape.

We might not take him. But the horn player is like a racist drawing. Like you know what they had back in the 50s? Where they… You know like it was a very racist depiction of the horn guy? Oh, like a Louis Armstrong looking guy? Like big cheeks and stuff? Yeah, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, we've got to have him. Yeah. What do you mean he's in bad shape? I think he's a little rough. He can be redeemed by Jesus. We have people that can make him… He's a redeemed by Jesus. Pull that into him, why don't you? The drummer. The drummer's in great shape. The banjo man's in great shape. So we can have living Bible scenes every week. We can change it. We've got big Goliath, you know, with little David throwing a rock at it. Yeah. And we'll have car wrecks out here. There'll be all kinds of attention.

It'll be great. It's not from Chuck Cheese, Con. Stay out of it. I'm telling you, it's not Chuck Cheese. I don't want to divulge anymore for this. I would agree. I think Aarondale's right. You've got to keep the band together. You can't leave that horn guy in the dust. Okay, so we're storing one at Aarondale's place then. I talked his wife into it. Okay, we're good to. You know what? We can put them all at Aarondale's place. He's got a heart for the thing. I got one. I think we've got it covered. Go get them. Go pick them up. Call whoever you need to call. I'll place a couple text messages here and get this taken care of. Cool. Man, I'm so excited. I'm telling you what. Strange things happens in the prayer room.

He could be standing right out this window. We could put the big one. That would be so great. Tell him you don't roll past those guys every day and go, yes. Yes. Oh, man. I'd have taken the rest of the day off work. You should have told me this earlier. We need a truck. We definitely need a truck. Oh, man. That's exciting. All right. You've been listening to Live from the Path, broadcasting live every Monday night from 10 to midnight on livefromthepath.org. If you visit the website and want to check some stuff out during the week, we have clips from our past performances from the show, including all our musical guests. You can check out past episodes of the show and sign up for the podcast. We'd love to have you to do that. This upcoming Sunday is the first Sunday of the month, which means we will be broadcasting on AM 940 at the 5 o'clock or around 5 o'clock time slot.

If there's a Cubs game, that's when it generally gets pushed late. So we'll have an hour show there at 5 o'clock. Again, big thanks to JC Walker for moving Iowa, who was graciously donating that time slot to us. Just out of the goodness of his heart, really, he just called and said, you guys want to take the spot? He'd let us have his. It's his spot. So thanks a lot for him and allowing us to do that. That's really cool. So we're going to take a quick break. Just in case you're not sick of it, I'm going to let you watch the first anniversary collection video during the break. And we'll be right back with you. Thanks for listening to Live from the Path. Live from the REMAX studios in downtown Des Moines. It's 6 a.m. And you are live from the Path. That's a lot of pressure. It makes me probably the old guy in the room. I'm sorry. I got three chauvinists looking at me saying, what are you doing in the kitchen, Mary? What do you want?

I don't go to a movie with whoopie in it. I mean, I'm a maggot. Bacon, I think. And I want a cheese. You can buy this mouse for $19.95. And here's a little Jesus. It's terrible because I like to put my favorite things on my boxers. So hey, you guys. Where is American Samoa? I don't have much of a back hair problem, but I mean, if I did, I wouldn't want to have to ask my lady to take care of me. And it says I'm overly acidic. You seem to both have possum-type characteristics that I'm all-knowing. Can we say butt? That's why I go speedo. Very nice. Very nice. The origami undies. You're way too intellectually invested in your underwear. I wore a hole in my pants. Right. I mean, my boxies were shown when I left at 4 in the morning. Your grandma's friend is really Ben Vereen. It's like holding a very warm, dead fish. Oh, this will save me time later.

I won't have to re-watch the show. It's a long delay. You know cars can't function on wall peanut butter. It's very adult, Daniel. We tried to pick him up, but he stopped to pee in the bushes, and we couldn't wait. You spent your holiday season hawking pagan Christmas wares? I'm not in that chicken. Just saying branch out a little bit, that's all I'm saying. What? This is going to be the most interesting three minutes of radio I've ever heard. Men do not smoke Virginia slums. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. There you go. That's so sad. Do I jump from one hit to another? You can't convince your mind to allow yourself to pee your own pants like it's out. Chicken, chicken, chicken. Oh, some Keith, oh, some chicken, chicken, chicken, chicken. I got this cat skeleton to me. I'm full. I'm hungry. I think I'll have that again. You're listening to Life from the Past. Well, my observation in life is the whiniest people on earth tend to be Christians. Okay, first of all, you're not funny. So don't even worry about it.

No, I thought it was great. I don't need your approval, Daniel. Slowjack. Hey, slowjack. Look at that slowjack. Find me a slowjack. Come on, man. In either case, I'm growing my mustache in here until the world understands me for who I am. Not just a cool guy in a sauna, but a well-educated man who gets all his information from live from the past. There is a half-naked bust mannequin woman in the church office. He's afraid someone's going to steal it. Along with a plastic BB handgun. And I say, what goes on in here? It's like that time you claimed that you created the peanut butter that rolls up like a deodorant. I've said too much. I didn't burn me. Where's them shady internet characters? That's who I want. Giving my kid a pucker on the head. I've always been just freaky. Looks like the back alley, you know, used donkey dealer. Who left my underwear outside in the rain? What's next? A bag full of aphids that eat your face? Christians don't have gas. That's the deal.

Do not ever buy deodorant at an airport. Next time I find a naked dude out rolling around in my rock garden, I'm going to come looking for you and say, you caused this. What's that got to do with it? Big sir, the best waterbeds, that's for sure. Big sir. Waterbeds. Funk kind of did that on that smelly politician question. Yeah, that's true. I've worn a dress. Oh, yeah. I fell asleep at the wheel. We had like a gang of feral cats. What's a doobie? Hey, you know what? You're fat. Donkey rib cage, 30 bucks. Where'd you get that? Here it's coming. Oh! Okay. Anyway, you're listening to Silk Sheets and Rainbows. My name's Ben. I call it the street Jesus. Now, hold on. I'm not past it yet, Cassie. I'm sorry.

You don't like any sandwiches? I've written Abby and said, Mike and Ben, they make fun of my shirt every single week. They say I look like a couch. What should I do? Hey, Ben, the van's gonna stink. I could have said it was Big Jacker if I'd have known him face to face when he was my father. This has been Life in the Path. Daniel, what did I tell you about that? We'll see you… Go have a party next week. Have a wonderful week. It's jazzy. Try to put a little culture in here. It sounds like rain. This song is way awesome. It's funky. It's like… Yeah, that's more like a… Yeah, that's kind of like a chicken thing. You see that move that they do where, like, what cruise? I speak Portuguese. Hey, hey, no. King de Guado. I… Oh! One… Disaster.

Dan started it. All right, ready? One. From his hiding place, Jack gets… Dan's breathing heavy. Jack is hiding. That head thing was classic. And Jack rushed out and grabbed the head. That's realistic. That's realistic. And then Jack took a grab. My name is Ben Foost. Thanks for hanging out over the break. We really appreciate it. You've been listening to Live from the Path, which is live on liveforthepath.org. We are on the path. Love it. Live it. Thanks for sticking out during the break. If you guys didn't see it, I did post a link to the Live from the Path gear, the shirts. You can pick those up. There's no markup on those. We can't make any money around here because then we have to file some sort of weird tax business

or non-profit organization. So we don't make any money off those. You're getting them as cheap as we can. I do like the… If you didn't see it, the less haired, more Jared shirt glows in the dark. So that's pretty slick. That's awesome. I really want the Secular Solomon. The Secular vs. Solomon shirt. If someone would like to gift that to me, that would be fantastic. How big do we get those? Father's Day is coming. It is coming. So is Mother's Day. Here we go. There's a… Let's see. But none of us are mothers. No. Oh, the Solomon Bruiser. We're saying that they won a… Look at that Solomon Bruiser. That's cool. I'm not listening to you.

I'm just saying. That vintage Solomon is cool. I like that retro… The retro tee. Is that brown one? Yeah. That's brown. With the red… Dude, those are cool shirts. Look at this donkey. I thought that donkey shirt's pretty slick. What's it say? It just says life from the path on it. Oh. In all honesty, seriously ask this. How big can we get them? Hold on. 2X. Yeah, double X. Except this one only goes up to 1X. Yeah. What? Because I thought that looked kind of fun. I was going to get it. And I thought, oh, I need a 2X. You do double X? What's the Bruiser go up to?

Hold on. They all do double. Yeah, double X. And of course, I'm losing massive amounts of weight. Actually, I can design you more. If you want one in a size that they don't show, I can get them. They're pricier, but I can design them up. I don't care how much I have. Okay. I want one. I'll put some in. Anyway, buy them up. And here's the deal. Here's the thing, friends. If you don't want one for yourself, get one for me. Get one for me so that when I lose weight, I can fit in it. That will be Troy's motivation to lose more weight. Somebody gets me a Live from the Past shirt that's in a 2X, I will do everything I can to get down to a 2X fast possible. We need to get them for our new friends that we'll be picking up in the garbage. Oh, man. Yes. Oh, dude, that's awesome. I want that trumpet guy to be less haired more, Jared. Okay, so here's the deal. I was way excited when I saw him, and then I was kind of bummed. And now I'm way excited again.

We're going to get him. It's a roller coaster. Yeah. I want the donkey one for my dude. What do you mean you won't be able to read the words? If they went red. Which one? Oh, I don't know. Yeah, just don't buy red, man. For the blue donkey ringer, just don't buy the red color. Oh, yeah, that's a good point. Yeah. I think they're all right. Why would you insist on choosing the one color that makes it creppy? Why would that color be put on there? Because I can't keep them put on there. I really do like that Live from the Past retro sports tee. And the Secular vs. Sullivan. I think I'm going to try it. What do they get for the retro sports tee? Does that make you feel good that that was the first one I was going to get, Mike? No. I think you're really evolving in your style. That's great. It scares me. No, that's awesome. If you give one to me for a gift, I will wear it to work the next day.

The retro sports tee is $18.40. That's reasonable. Free shipping? Probably not. Oh, come on. Well, there's probably a free shipping option. The Secular vs. Solomon is only $14.90. You can buy 20 shirts. Yeah, I would say, how's that not? Do you want to pay or not? The less hair, more Jared is $12.90. Oh, that's not bad. It's because it's text only. They charge it for the pictures. And the ones, the secular, like the Solomon ones got a life in the path dude on the back. Oh, that's cool. It's just the guy. So explain the less hair, more Jared. There isn't much to it. It sounds clever. You just… So it's not like a new segment we're doing or anything? No. No. We need to make one up. I was trying to make Jared Roy feel good, so I thought, less hair, more Jared. We got to do hair, more Jared.

Yeah. Yeah, so here's the… There's not too many hair, it quotes. Yeah, I was going to say. Kill the baby. Oh, that's Jared. That's Jared all the way. Hey, wise men. How about you let me know about that baby so I can go and worship him? Did you say you have a dream? You know what would be real cheesy, but if they did it, it's if like a dial or whatever had a commercial with Herod and it's like, I wash my hands of this with dial soap. Nice. Conscious Pilate's just like, dial's the best way to do it. Do it again. I won't. It was a mistake the first time. You're listening to Life in the Past. So here's… I saw this and I wanted to talk about it because I'm not sure how I feel about it, but I saw it on Facebook. There was a church that had the Easter services and they basically said, you know, if you're new here, you get a chance to win 50 bucks or a sword at other prizes. A $50 gift card to Target or a sword at other prizes. Okay? Show up to Easter service, put your name in, drawing for 50 bowls. What are your thoughts?

What are your thoughts? It's one heck of a try. I mean, going out kind of, I don't know how to explain it. Two shirts are four bucks shipping, by the way. Okay, cool. Who's their target? Well, see… Is it going to play on words for it's a $50 gift card to Target? No, no. I mean, it's just like… It's a pretty good bank because, I mean, even if you go to Sunday school, that's a couple hours. That's $25 an hour. That's a good deal. You can't make that at the slushy shop. If you don't go to church and they're going to pay you $50 to come up, maybe, they better pay me a lot more than that. I guess that's my thought. $25 an hour is sufficient for you to get off your duff and go to the church? Yeah. And free breakfast. $50 isn't really much anymore. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. $50, that's what I was going to say. Who's their target? Who are you guys? Yeah, I was going to say, I'll take $50.

Well, I mean, I'll take $50, but remember, you're asking someone who… They're targeting people who don't go to church. Okay, so here, come to our church and we're going to parade you around and we're going to have you come up and get a $50… That's the feeling I would get if I was like Joe Blow going, I'll go to the other one that isn't going to try to pay me to go there. I'd be like, hey, you've never come to this church before. Yeah. Oh, you've never come. Well, you're in the drawing. I mean, I don't know. Doesn't that be a little freaky? I just… Your church, go on number 316. You're all… Sorry, everyone. The odds have just gone down. You're our 316th person to go and take communion today. Oh, boo, there's another guest. Here's your target card first. Express your love for Jesus. I don't like it. Mike? I don't know. I don't usually like any stuff like that. I like the pretty much straightforward approach. And I don't like trying to represent something or doing something that is out of your norm

on Easter or Christmas. You know, I don't know. It just feels cheesy to me. Like the Lord has to resort to cheap tactics. Yeah. If it was a life in the past shirt, I'd be all over it. Oh, yeah. See, I keep thinking to myself just envisioning someone saying, well, you get eternal salvation and a $50 gift card to Target. And popcorn bowls. It's like, oh, wow. Yay. Cool. Yeah. I don't know. I don't even know. I don't know what I think about that. It just kind of gives me a creepy feeling. I'm not offended. I'm not offended by it. But it just, yeah, it seems like you're cheap and in what you love. Straight Jesus wouldn't do it. Here's what I thought. Here's what I thought. Is I thought it's not… You know, why did you make me and Dan go all the way through that when you just wanted to say what you thought?

That would have saved us a lot of times. Make us look bad. That's why I have commentary of people in here. Why don't you just say, here's what I think, and then just start going? Because here's what happens. I will say what I think, and then you two look at me and go, yeah. Yeah, yeah, that's good. And then it's the end of it. Well, you're so smart. We just go, oh. We got a two-hour show here, fellas. We can't have all this Ben says something sweet. Okay, I'll come up with some more stuff, man. I'll just disagree with what you say. Go ahead. Okay. So here's what I think. Confrontational. Here's what I think. There's nothing wrong with it. That's ridiculous. How do you say that? But I find it cheesy and ineffective. Yeah. I'm not offended. It's not bad. It's not necessarily wrong.

Long-term, if they show up and think, you know what? I love that place because I got a $50 Target card. Maybe Jesus is the real deal. That's not really going to work. I think you want to avoid things. Anything that falls into the category of, we just want to get them in. That's an issue. I honestly think that's an issue. Some people do a lot of things like, we just want to get more people in the door. Yeah. And here's how we're going to do that. Which is a higher priority than, we want to introduce you to Jesus. Right. Or is it, hopefully, it's to get them in the door to introduce them to Jesus. Our church has 10,000 people. Well, none of them know Jesus, but they're there. I think you're looking for a steady influx of new people to your church. You're not looking for a wham, we have 50 extra people in church today. I mean, depending on your proportional size of your church. But let's say you run 200 people. If you have 50 people show up because of promotion you did, I don't think you're promoting a healthy growth. You're promoting a flash in the pan. You can't, there's no way if you have a quarter, if you have 125% of your normal congregation in your church on a Sunday that you cannot connect with those people. Because you don't have enough people to do that. You know what I'm saying? Like you don't have, you don't have, if you have 50 new people come in, there's no way that you can service all those people correctly. You know, with that fast of an influx.

I think you like a gentle, a gentle influx. Now, if you're running 3,000 people at your service, 50 people's good. You have enough people in place to, you know, to serve those people. You know, but I don't know. It seems like any flash in the pan gimmick, like you just want to avoid. Now, if people show up because of you, you put on a good vacation Bible school and their kids were there, that's cool. You know, if you have a real good worship band or you have a good Easter play and people show up to, you know, to church next Sunday because of that, that seems all legitimate because you were going to do that anyway. That service is not only the people outside of your church, but the people in your church. It's a two-fold victory, you know. But I don't know, anything that you do, you know, like says, like, you know, if you change your sign out front to say drink beer in church, you betcha, you know, and you got a bunch of people showing up just to drink in your church because they think you're cool. I don't know, it's a little different. Was that you always talking about trying to rent a bar? Free donut. No, I don't know what you're talking about. That was you and me? Okay. Yeah. Actually, we spent a little bit of time, like right when I got there for that, for the atheist stuff. And we must have come up with 50, well, 50 is an exaggeration, but like a bunch of different ideas on where we could hold church or where we could put more churches. Our next campus. Yeah. Oh, yeah. We could rent a bar from one of our friends. From a bar. Yeah. And just do what you'd like a Tuesday night service. Just say, hey, bring a Tuesday night.

You know what I find kind of irritating is American Christianity and their aversion to alcohol in general. You know what I'm saying? Like, the Bible is biblically consistent on drunkenness is bad. Excess, bad. It's poor choice. Yeah. These things are not great. You know, folly. That's what it is. You know, the Bible describes it most of the time. But like. Folly. It does. It does. It points it to folly. Piety and foolishness. But like, I always look at it as one of those religious aspects, you know, where they say, you know, it just gives someone else another stronghold to judge another guy. You know, like drinking a beer after, you know, just in general, one a night or whatever in regular moderation is totally acceptable in Ireland, in England. You know, in most of the, you know, that doesn't make them less Christ followers. It doesn't make them non-biblical, you know. But, you know, so we can walk around and we can point at everyone else and say, you know, alcohol, it's bad, it's bad, it's bad, it's bad. And, you know, there's detriments to living an alcoholic lifestyle, you know. But like, I don't even drink. I'm not. I don't even drink at all. You know, it's just not something I dig on. But like, I just, I don't like the, I don't know, the demonizing of a simple sect of population because our religion chose to make it a big deal.

You know, but you turn around and you look at our high school. That's the old time. That's the old time action. The dirty, no bathing, no drinking. Well, and I've seen people, you know, be upset and stop attending church for that exact reason. Because, you know, they, someone in the church they used to go to felt at a call on them to come after this guy and tell him to repent of something that's not a sin. You know, and the guy's like, you know, I'm sure he didn't really look into it. But he's like, you know, they had a problem with me and they made my life out to be just this terrible sin. And I don't know, parts about that just really annoy me. That there's no reason to be for religious piety like that when it's, I don't know, like the things that we let slide, like our excessive lifestyle, you know, our debt-ridden bank accounts and our fancy car action for most Americans, you know. But beer's bad. You know, these are the poor things that we can, you know. We're going back to the days of prohibition. I don't know. Generally, people pick the things that they don't do and don't have an issue with. Right, right, exactly. That makes me better and you less. I don't drink, so, listen, obviously I am an example of the Christ follower here. And I don't dance, so therefore. And I don't dance. Look at that. Or wear makeup or pants. Dear life from the path. All right, if you've been hanging out long enough, congratulations. I appreciate you hanging around. You have made it to the pinnacle of the program, which is the ever-popular, always scintillating, secular, or Solomon. That's it.

That's all there is to it. Are you ready? Are you ready to prepare secular or Solomon? Mike, have you been, you know, working on it, getting yourself worked out? I haven't read the book of Psalms yet. You're going to get creamed. I haven't done it. Is it rough today? The answers are on the TV. You guys can't look at the TV. I'm ready. The answers are gone. Let's do this thing. Okay. Mike. They're back up there. I have to look at them. It's my reference computer. All right, so, again, for those of you in the chat who are new to the game, secular versus Solomon, I will give you a proverb. You need to tell me whether it was written by Solomon or it was a secular proverb, so not by Solomon. Okay, ready? Okay, I'm ready. I'll take away their temptation. The answers are secular. Because I don't trust them. Or Solomon.

Good choice. Here we go. But I can see. No slides today, so you're going to have to take my word on it. Here we go. Option number one. Death and destruction are never satisfied, and neither are the eyes of man. Death and destruction are never satisfied, and neither are the eyes of man. Secular or Solomon. Hold on. Dan's writing the answer now. I just put down number one. Wait for the answer. I'm going with secular on that one. Secular? Spanglinger? Solomon. Solomon. Dan? I'm going to go secular. The answer is Solomon, Proverbs 27, 20. Boom. Death and destruction are never satisfied, and neither are the eyes of man. This sounded awfully Solomon-ish, but that's what threw me off. I said Solomon. You said secular. Oh, I think you're wrong, sir.

I got the right answer. You did not. I did not. Who? Okay, secular Solomon. I got the right answer. I said Solomon. You said secular. No, I did not. Yes, you did. No, I didn't. Yes, you did. You said secular. Turn the TV on. Next one. Here we go. Bean, JC, Pants, all put secular. What a mistake. They were just- Nobody knows Solomon. You better buy the shirt so you can be more like him. Secular Solomon. Okay, I'm ready. He says, if you can't be me, at least wear me on your body and shower with the boys. Here we go. Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth. Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth, secular or Solomon.

That's really close to a biblical. It has to be Solomon. It has to be Solomon, so it could be- No, no Jesus. Yahweh. I'm going with secular. Spanglinger. I'll go Solomon. Solomon. That sounds like Matthew to me. I'm going to say secular. Okay, secular. Or at least not Solomon. Dan is voting not Solomon. Okay, secular. All right, here we go. In a rough start for the traditional life in the path of boys, that is Proverbs 27, 1 and 2. Yes. Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth. I'm 2 and 0, baby. Actually, I think I'm 2 and 0. Huh? You want that animatronic dude in your room or not? I'm 0 and 2. Thanks. Hello, Troy. Good morning.

Coffee. He's not effeminate. I will be doing the voice work for him. Go ahead. Would you like a Canada Dry? He sounds like the Back to the Future guy. Your jacket is now dry. Joe is a Joe. Or he's very mean. You stink, Troy. No, you would make it so that it's like that. It's like, you suck. Change your ways. If he was real sassy, too. That's what we'll do. We'll do a John the Baptist animatronic guy. Every time someone walks through the door, we'll put him on a photo sensor. Poodle vipers. Repent. It's the day of the Lord is at hand. Camel, hair, and everything. Is that a locust? Okay. Are you reading that? Nothing's going to be pneumatic John the Baptist guy. It's going to be awesome. It'll be just like that guy we tried to put in the baptismal tank at Grandpa's church.

That way they opened the baptismal doors. We were going to have John the Baptist come rocking out. Oh, it's going to be funny. He wasn't on board with that. Anyway, some people are uptight. I'm 2-0. Let's dance. Old timer. Actually, I'd like it. We should record some things that that thing can say. Put a motion sensor on it when it comes in. And I'd like it if it changes its mood every once in a while. Like every three hours. And sometimes it gets sassy. It's like, Troy, you stanky. You stanky. Don't start with that. I mean it. You stanky. Do not start. I was two shakes away from putting his stankiness on the prayer wall. I had my shoes off, obviously, because I'm walking into the prayer room. And then I was hanging out and I took my socks off in there because I just was like, you know what? Hold on a second. Quick poll. Anybody else gone down to their socked feet in the prayer room? No, sir.

Continue. Go ahead, Homeless Joe. Tell us the rest of your experience. They call me Shoeless Joe Jacks. I didn't want to lose my socks, so I just stuck them on the wall. And they stayed there. I was the dude that has the sock in the freezer. That's my… Okay. I'm not going to be on… Or I'm not going to lie and say, well, I was doing it because of this. I just wanted to take my socks off. I mean, I had worn them all day and just was like, man, let's get some. I want to feel the whole feel of Jesus. Isn't that the plight of the working man? I had socks on all day. The whole time. The whole time. Nobody works like me. Socks and everything. I think it led to my rheumatoid arthritis. That's why I'm so stanky. Hey, shut up, animal. See, I know Anne is joining here tonight. Anne is sitting right next to me thinking to herself, man, I live with this guy. You have no idea. I was trying to figure out that.

Thanks for getting him out of the house for a while and putting him in the prayer room. I'm tired of them socks. I thought, what was that, Funk? It's Troy. And the pants being pants just automatically looks at me and is like, you know, Ben's not lying. You got some stanky. And I was like, really, guys? Really? You know what? Fine. All right, here we go. Anyway. If you sit in a hot bath, you think the whole town is warm. Oh, God. If you sit in a hot bath, you think the whole town is warm. Who said that? Secular or Solomon? I'm going to have to go Solomon on that one. I'm going to go secular. You better not be using that Bible software. No, it's secular. It's, uh… Okay. He's saying it with a lot of confidence. Wait, wait, now, hold on, hold on. I even put it in print this time.

If you're voting on secular, take a guess on the artist, on where it came from. And here, I'll give you… It's a nationality. All the non-secular proverbs from tonight are of a nationality. Guess what nationality it came from. I can't because I saw it. I saw it on the TV. I didn't realize those were the answers, and I looked up. You took it in, all of them? No, I didn't take all of them in, but I know what nationality I saw. What is it? You really want me to tell you? Yep. Yiddish. Agreed. It is Yiddish. You cheating, no good vermin. I just told you I had no idea those were the answers. You and your stanky feet better repent now. This is going to be the coolest thing we ever got. The Lord does not like stanky feet in the holy place. Now, I'd like to go on record, if you notice, we're not spending any of the church's money on these things. And we're invested totally by ourselves. All free. Because what's going to happen is people from the congregation are going to walk in here and go, what is going on in here?

I'm tied for that? They bought four giant dogs. It's the nativity scene. Just watch it. It'll get people in the door. It's our Christmas special. Man, have you been to that ministry center? Dude, they've got a dog sitting in there that tells you you're a pet when you walk in. I'm going there more often. They've got a prayer room? I'm there. All right. What was it? It was a Yiddish proverb. Solomon? Solomon's not Yiddish. I rock at this game. What's that, Mike? 3-0? What's that? For you? 3-0? He's 3-0. Here we go. Secular or Solomon. A priest's beard is always soaked in butter. A priest's beard is always soaked in butter.

Secular. Are you even trying anymore? Or Solomon. It's been anointed. He was at the atheist convention. Dan grabbed his old beard. Like, my, you have an amazing beard. Chris goes, I can't believe it's a beard. Okay. If it's not Solomon, what nationality? Who has oily priest beards? It sounds like Ukrainian to me. Put me down for the Ukraine. Ukrainians don't waste butter on beards. They just rub their roll in their beard. Save you for later. This tastes like my meal from yesterday. Gross. Gross. Dirty beard. Either this is an excellent roll or I have a very tasty beard. I'm sticking with Ukraine. Okay. Solomon or secular with nationality. Ukraine. You want in on this stank feet? I'm going India.

India? I don't know. I'll go secular and I'll go Greek. The answer is secular. The nationality is Russian. We also would have taken federated states of Russia. Or Ukraine. I will take Ukraine as part of the Soviet Union. Ah, whatever. Pre-fall. Ukraine is acceptable for us. So you're saying if I would have said Czechoslovakia, you would have went with? The Czech Republic we would have taken. Why not Czechoslovakia? Because that wasn't the technical name for it. Prior to that point, they actually, at the end of the war, the First World War, they went as the dynasty or the kingdom of Czechs and Slovenes. So I'm just making up Czechoslovakia? There's something not right in your mind. No. No, because when the split of the USSR, it became the Czech Republic and Slovakia. So they weren't Czechoslovakia. They were Czech Republic. Yeah, before they were. No. I'm going to have to look you up on that board. Ben made up that whole story.

I think so. I know so. I can tell by the look on his face. He made it up completely. The Slovenes. Dynasty of the Czechs. They're the Slovenes. They're the Slovakians. So they were Slovenes. Slovakians, Akia, came from the Mockians. Mockians? Hey, that was the point where I lost it. Hey, man, stupid Mockians. Sounded like a sixth grader. It's the last of the Mockians. You ever been to Mockia? You'll hear it's awesome in winter. Here we go. I hope it's big thing too. Go ahead. Adversity brings knowledge and knowledge, wisdom. Secular or Solomon. Adversity brings knowledge and knowledge, space. Wisdom. Secular or Solomon. Dan's feeling Solomon on this one. But not quite sure of the original text.

The Hebrew doesn't quite put it that way. If we look over at Dan. The Quineye Greek. I'm saying Solomon. Hit me. Solomon. Daniel? I'm saying secular. Do you have a guess on the nationality of secular? Sounds like Chinese. Chinese. That's what I'm going to say. And the answer is secular. And it's from the Welsh. Really? The Welsh say, adversity brings knowledge and knowledge, space, wisdom. So I'm four in one. There we go. Instruct a wise man and he will be wiser still. Teach a righteous man and he will add to his learning. Instruct a wise man. Dan, that's definitely Solomon. I'm saying yes, that's a nice quote. No, no. Here's the thing. That is a quote. Just like any good Bible preaching boy.

Any times you hear the Lord's word in any fashion outside of church, he goes, yep. Oh, yeah. Preach it. Preach it. I recognize. See it. Dan looks at his dollar bill every day and goes, yes, sir. Yes, sir. Solomon. Solomon. I'm saying Solomon. The answer is Solomon. I don't know what verse I'm saying. I'm not going to lie. I went right off of you guys. That's why I don't play poker. No. Yes. Yes. Oh, my gosh. They're talking about my Lord. I can imagine Dan seeing this like, do you see this hand? This is awesome. Moving. The words of a gossip are like choice morsels. Semicolon. They go down to a man's inmost parts.

That sounds weird. The words of a gossip are like choice morsels. They go down to a man's inmost parts. Secular Dutch. The Dutch are always talking about parts. I know the Dutch. Leave it to the Dutch. They smoke the grass and talk about parts. I'm going secular and Pakistani. Dan. Solomon. Chat. Very good. Everybody in? The answer is Solomon. Ah. Solomon, 26, 22. The words of a gossip. And you figured the Dutch. Solomon's up in heaven. He must took me for a Dutchman. I'm not a Dutchman. You know, that's one of the higher sins, Troy, is taking the Lord's word and attributing it to others. That sounds like manly wisdom. Secular Solomon has become dangerous. We're creating sinners. We are walking a thin line here, Troy.

Be careful of the blaspheme. Oh, man. From now on, I'm just going to say, nope. No comment. I'm not sure. Secular Solomon. Solomon. Bleed the fifth. I trust Jesus. Hold on. Let me pray on that one. Where's my beard? What's that answer? Where's the butter? Anybody got a roll? Death and destruction are never satisfied, and neither are the eyes of man. Well, we already did that one. Solomon. Did we do that one already? That was the first one you did. I'll go Solomon. I need a check mark. I can't keep track of these. I'm going to go Solomon on that one. Okay. Here we go. Okay.

I got one. I got one. I'm feeling Solomon. Ben is great. Secular or Solomon? No, no, no, no, no, no. Here we go. Fresh father, do not rebuke a mocker, or he will hate you. Rebuke a wise man, and he will love you. Do not rebuke a mocker, or he will hate you. Rebuke a wise man, and he will love you. I'm really hoping this is Solomon, because it would go right with our atheist text. Secular or Solomon? Solomon. Bring it. I say, um… I plead the fifth? No. Um, I'm going to say secular. Plead the fifth? Dude, I'm the king of the belly, shake, and laugh. Don't try. Your original comedy is astounding. So clever. Dude, don't make me… Troy or Solomon, no. Don't make me flip out the wild, wild Babylon.

I will. No, I will do the wild, wild Babylon to show my original humor. Yes, grandma, I love this hat. You're a phony. You're a phony. I say secular, and I'm just… You know what? This is just me throwing this out there. Norwegian, okay? I'm saying Solomon. It is for Solomon. Solomon, Proverbs 9, 8 through 9. Do not rebuke a mocker, or he will hate you. Rebuke a wise man, and he will love you. I have a feeling that I'm slowly tying up my score in the worst way. Secular. All right, here we go. Four and three now. No matter how far you have gone on a wrong road, turn back. That's not… No matter how far you have gone on a wrong road, turn back. Secular or Solomon. Let me see the whites of your eyes, Daniel. Daniel, I say you go first. That is not a proverb. I mean, that is not a psalm. I'm saying it's a…

It's not secular or psalm. It's Solomon. Secular. You really need to read the Old Testament. Mike. I'm doing it in stages. At least there's got to be a Cliff Notes on it. At least take a scan through. Spark Notes of the Old Testament. It is not a… Nehemiah, that's a dude. That was a hairstyle. Habakkuk. I thought Nehemiah was a city. I ordered Habakkuk from a deli left. No, Nineveh. Nineveh's a city. I got an Ezra sandwich over there. You're thinking… Yeah, you're thinking of Nineveh. Um, okay. I am Leib. Can you, uh… Can you repeat the… No matter how far you have gone on a wrong road, turn back. That's not biblical. It ain't.

Secular. Secular. I'm going to say… Secular. Somewhere in the South Americas. Secular. Secular. South American secular. In the Northern Hemisphere. Chile. It is Turkish. Ha ha. I win. That's Southern Hemisphere. Which means it is secular. Congratulations. Dang. Yeah, I said Northern Hemisphere. I win. Go often to the house of a friend, for weeds soon choke up the unused path. No, no, no. No, no. There's… Isn't there a Solomon that says, don't go over to some guy's house all the time, it'll get sick of you. Kill you or something. No, no.

No, sir. That's… There's nothing wrong here. That's contradictory. Secular. Yeah. Secular… Secular urban Chicago. Ha ha ha. Secular downtown Des Moines. Um, secular Greek. Would you read that one again? Yeah. Go often to the house of a friend, for weeds soon choke up the unused path. That's an African… Secularism. But I think it's also a proverb. No. Which proverb do I listen to? I'm going Solomon. I'm out of here. Ah. Talk amongst yourselves. I've got to find it. It can't be a direct contradiction to the stay away from somebody. You're bothering them. It's a friend, though.

Well, what's the verse on the… What's the verse on the other one? What's the verse on the friend one? We're going to need to compare the two. Okay, so it's listed as, go often to the house of a friend, for weeds soon choke up the unused path, as a Swedish or Scandinavian proverb. I do not know if there's a similar Solomon. I'd be interested to know that. Because I'm fairly certain the last time we talked to Solomon, he said, do not… What's a more direct quotation of the verse? Do not spend all your time at your neighbor's doorstep. Like, will he grow weary of you? Or he will grow to hate you? Yeah. Did you just come suddenly and make that up? And get your wife out from off the roof. Yeah, no, that's Solomon of some sort. I haven't read the book. I only pick up bits and pieces until I get there. What's this guy? There's a guy on YouTube with a video of Song of Solomon pickup lines. What? I really would like to play that, but I've been so burned by YouTube before, I'm going to have to not do that. That gets pretty graphic. I might have to screen it. All right, you have just participated in America's fastest growing internet game show,

Secular or Solomon. And now, for America's fastest growing game show. That is just in it. Secular or Solomon. And there you go. That was Secular or Solomon. That's awesome. Thanks for hanging out with us. Mike got my tune. Boy, I like that. So next week, I think we'll do a Deuteronomy or Dan next week. Dan, you whip one up for next week? I'm in. Deuteronomy or Dan, a similar setup where we will give you a law, and you need to figure out whether there's a law that was actually from Deuteronomy or from the Old Testament or whether Dan made it up. That's Deuteronomy or Dan. And be advised, we're going to do our darndest to get one of the… Doomsdayers on this show. Yeah, so tell me about… Mike, you ran into some of these dudes? Yeah, so I saw them pulling into the Walmart. I was driving by the Walmart, and there was a caravan of four of them, plus a guy pulling a fifth wheel in a junkie truck. And it said, whatever, what is it, May 21st? And then they had 2012 with a big red line through it, like we don't allow 2012 around here, kind of like the no parking signs.

So they had 2012 with the big line through it, said, it's not going to happen, you know. And then it said, the Bible guarantees it. And I thought, oh man, you guys, I'm telling you, like there's making some errors, you know. And then there's, boy, God, I just can't imagine God's going, I'm not happy. You're slandering my book. You're slandering my word. You know, I don't know, that seems like a big trouble for the guy who puts words in the Lord's mouth, you know. Especially when you look, look how the universe was created. The Lord didn't come down and physically make anything except for man. Everything he spoke into existence. So when the Lord says, this is my spoken word, I don't know, it seems to me you'd just best leave it be and not throw your own spin on it. So anyway, we're going to try to get him on the show. I think this will be a really interesting conversation. I'm not really interested because I want to see where they're coming from. I just want to talk, well, that's what is why I'm interested. I want to see where they're coming from. I want to see how they're ignoring certain parts of scripture, especially one that says, no one knows the day, not even the Son, not even Jesus. Jesus doesn't know. You know, only the Father knows. And so how they're getting around that and circumventing, you know, biblical fact, I don't know. I'm very interested. As am I. Check this out.

So here's, they have a website that, like, tracks 44, like, the false end of the world predictions. Uh-huh. So I was just going to take a quick look and see what we've seen over the last, okay, here's the last entry. 1919, meteorologist Albert Porta predicted that the conjunction of six planets would generate a magnetic current that would cause the sun to explode and engulf the earth on December 17th, 1919. That makes sense, doesn't it? It didn't happen. No. Are we here? Here we go. Oh, this is awesome. The previous entries, here we go, 1914, 1915, 1918, 1920, 1925, 1941, 1975, and 1994. Who? You know who? Group? What group? Oh, Jehovah's Witnesses. Jehovah's Witnesses. 1914, 15, 1820, 25, 41, 75, and 94 were among other dates that the Watchtower Society or its members predicted. There was 34 years of inactivity there. That is, how do you continue to hold on and believe in a religion where you have a set of dudes that have been wronged eight times? Pat Robertson's predicted a few times.

I don't get it. I mean, you got to have cojones the size of Volkswagens to put it out there and saying, especially as a public figure, because once it doesn't happen, you've lost all credibility. Yeah, well, how do you talk yourself out of that? How do you talk your way out of that the next day when you're still wanting your people to send money, you know? Well, now here's the… You know, send money because obviously I need more help. Well, here's the big point that I thought was really interesting that I thought about this week was, it's not coming on the date they say it is. It's not coming on May 21st. It just ain't, you know? But then I thought, it could still come before. It could come the 20th. It could come before. Yeah. That's the thing. Do they have a specific time of day it's happening? I don't know. Yeah, I don't know. Just sometime during that 24-hour period? Right. So they'll be holding out until the last minute, like, wait for the Lord's glory. Wait for it. Wait for it. I got to pee. They're like, ah.

I don't want to miss it. Wouldn't that really stink? If you had to use the bathroom, the Lord's comes back. Ah, bummer. Come on. I wanted to see the sky. Where's the cloud? He comes down in all his glory. He's like, Troy. I said, be ready. It's happening. Come on. We got to go. I really hope that doesn't happen. The same guy. So that can't be totally accurate, right? Because the same guy that's predicting it this year has predicted it once before in 1994 and has been wrong. Yeah. I can't believe how often these people are wrong. Here we go. 1891. On February 14th, 1835, Joseph Smith, the founder of the Mormon Church, attended a meeting of church leaders. He said that the meeting had been called because God had commanded it. He announced that Jesus would return within 56 years, which would have been before February 15th, 1891. You know, here's the thing. This is why I have such a hard time listening to people who say the Holy Spirit moves them to do things. This is the exact reason.

And sometimes I take that too far, and I don't trust that the Holy Spirit has moved anybody to do anything, which is not correct. But most of the time when someone says the Holy Spirit prodded me to do this, I have to go, I'm going to have to pray on that. Or I'm going to have to just wait and see what happens here. Like, because people like that say stuff just like that. They say, the Lord has told me that this is the end of the world. Or the Lord has told me that I should start this over here. You know, I'm like, okay. Is it just you? You know, or do you have like a team of people that are praying like this and have all gotten the same thing? Or is the Lord just speaking through you, oh prophet crazy man? Huh. Here, here's what I'm going to do. Tomorrow, I'm going to buy the coolest car I can think of. And the first payment won't be due until after the 21st. And I'll never have to make a payment. But I'll enjoy one month of it. I would not bet yourself on that one. Well, actually, that fit right along with the parable of the shrewd manager. There's nothing wrong with being wise with your money. If you don't have to worry about it, you know, buy yourself something nice. They'll come to collect money and they'll say, I guess you've been left behind. We'll get that censor button. Everything's looking up. Actually, in a very similar vein, October 22, 1844. Sorry, March 21, 1843. William Miller, the founder of the Millerite movement, predicted that Jesus would come on that date. A very large number of Christians accepted his prophecy.

October 22, 1844, so a year and a half later, when Jesus did not return, Miller predicted that new date, an event which is now called the Great Disappointment. Because many Christians sold their property and possessions, quit their jobs, and prepared themselves for the second coming. Nothing happened, and the day came and went without incident. I've actually heard stories of this happening now. Like someone that I know, they had like a sales rep that used to come to their business to sell them things. And they said, he just stopped showing up. And they said, well, you know, what happened? And they sent a new guy out. And they said, well, what happened? He's like, he quit. The end of the world's coming. He's going out to preach the gospel about Jesus and try to get people heading back on the right track. So here's the problem with that, is according to the Bible, it could happen at any moment. They've been waiting for this since the first century. So why the heck wasn't he doing that in the first place? Yeah, right. If you were going to quit your job and go get people for Christ and you know it could happen any time, why don't you wait until some doofus threw out a date? Oh, now we know it's May 21st. It's like, no, every breath you take is in preparation for the fact that at any moment he's going to come back. And so why is it suddenly urgent? Because we think it's less than a month. I think it could be before I go to bed tonight. Right. It could be before I get the sentence out. It didn't.

It wasn't a good thing you didn't predict it, but it could have been. I didn't predict it. We're safe. Yeah. Finally. Is that a way to, like, pen the judgment office to predict every second of every day and never stop doing it? It's going to be… Just so I say, well, he predicted it and I said you wouldn't know. I can just imagine Ben sitting in the corner. Now. Now. Now. I would say, like, you could get a real guy, like a guy who thinks he's pretty sharp. And he goes, well. And he just writes a book and it says, well, I predict it's going to be Tuesday, May 4th. I predict it's going to be Wednesday, May 5th. And as long as he does that, the prediction can't be right because God said we won't know it. Well, that's not true. Just because you wrote it down on paper doesn't mean you know it. Oh, I was going to do it then, but now I can't. I've written down a lot of things that I was unsure of, you know. That doesn't mean I know the date. That just means I've written down a bunch of dates. I think that disqualified him from actually knowing. Okay. I don't know. I'd be really interested to have him on the show.

I'm really interested. We've got to make sure we have the John the Baptist. Police. Police, too, but John the Baptist right there. Hey, can we park six RVs inside your parking lot? No. No. Do you have large animal animatronics? We're in. I don't ever want to meet the guy that that's his stipulation to come somewhere. It's just like, okay, I'll come if you have an animatronic John the Baptist in the front door saying, repent. Well, he just happened to have that. It's like, wait a minute. What a coincidence. We have one of those. Maybe he's got his own and he's hoping that he can bring it. Oh, you don't have one? Well. Okay, now that's what I could not say. And a guy that has one of his own and finds out that I have one and is really jazzed about it. I thought I was the only one. I think that one guy would be mega awkward to deal with and I was afraid that I would have to disown him. I wonder if they have conventions. I mean, they have atheist conventions. Why can't we have animatronics conventions? We're going to start our own? Yeah.

It's an outreach ministry. We don't believe in what or another kind. I don't know. Electricity. We don't believe in electric animatronics, only pneumatic ones. Yeah. That's right. Everyone else who does that are fancy pants yuppies who can afford electricity. We deal in air only. I feel like they have a lot of Amish in attention. Yeah. We can do clever shirts like our animals have wind or whatever. Click, click, wind. Click, click, wind. Whatever noise they make. Oh, man. I have the power to do shirts. You monics are my homeboy. This is an excellent idea. Anyway, coming up on the show in the weeks and months to come. We've got Vans coming in. He didn't agree to that. I didn't say Vans. Oh. I said Vans. Well, Mr. Matt Cassidy will be returning to the show in the first few weeks of May at Mike's request. Is this before or after the end of the world?

I think it will be just before. Why bother planning? Just before? It might be just before, yeah. Will we do signs of the apocalypse when those people come? Oh, we should most certainly do non-biblical signs of the apocalypse. Non-biblical signs of the apocalypse. We'll introduce it. We'll say we're doing non-biblical signs of the apocalypse. Here they are. Yeah. I'll just turn it on and we'll stare at him. Number nine, fuzzy math. Fuzzy math and propagated Bible verses taken out of context. Go. Explain to us, oh wise one. That's mean. That is mean. I like it. There's many people straight. What? Well, that's the problem. They're heresy. That's the problem. It's all ha-ha funny, but we're standing here going, obviously it's not true, and there's people freaking out at their house. Quitting jobs.

You know, doing that exact same thing. It's like, you know, so whose job is it to call up and say, look, this is heretical. It's heresy. It can't, you know, we can't stop them, obviously, but we can, I don't know, they can stand on their pulpit and scream as loud as they want, and we can do the same, I guess. I can be louder. I can guarantee it. It's nasty. It really is. It's bad. What did you say? I said I can be louder. I guarantee it. Just saying. I'm glad you're not low on self-esteem. Don't take me seriously in that hat. No. I don't have a hat on. I'm saying that people will remember it. Unless your grandma shows up at the rally, and you can put it on there. You can put it on like, hey grandma, I love this hat. Because you promised it was your favorite hat. No, I told her I'd wear it today, so I wore it today, and I'm not wearing it again. What, are you going to stiffer on a technicality? Grandma, I only said I would wear that one day. You do, this isn't the first gift I've done this to, in all honesty. You're a king of the jerks, Troy.

Dude, I got it. You promised all kinds of things. That poncho I got you a couple years ago? It was present, and I told her I'd wear it, and I put it on, and then when we left, I cut the sleeves off, so I'd have a Larry the Cable Guy shirt. How about that poncho I gave you a couple years ago? I don't remember you giving me a poncho. You said you loved it. Obviously. You said your puppies gave birth in it. Well, I have never had a puppy. It's a family heirloom. I gave you a Sherpa shawl not six months ago. I don't remember that either. I gave you an animatronic dog. I remember that happening in the future. But yeah, yeah, but you can take care of that. Let's get them on. Okay, I'll send them an email. Here's the thing. Of all the people that I've emailed to try to get on this show, I'm most certain they're going to respond, and I'm most certain that they will either Skype or bring a man personally down here to take care of it. I want dudes in person. Okay. They want to get the outreach out there. Why wouldn't they?

I'm going to put in the email that we don't agree with them. I'm going to say, be advised that we're not on the same side here, and we're going to talk about it. Yeah, I would definitely say that. Here's what we're going to need to do. We need to schedule them for May 22nd. I mean, 23rd. Oh, man. Just have them the day after. And say, please come in. We'd like to talk about it. And then when the show starts, we can say, big shocker, he cancels. Yeah, do that. I don't think we should go with that whole, God calls, said he's going to have to take a rain check on that May 21st thing. And I don't know what kind of battery. I don't know. That's disappointing. That's disappointing. I mean, seriously, there's people ruining their lives and totally missing Jesus. That's the whole point of people that get misled because they get pissed at the church. Something bad happens at the church and they get pissed. They hear some kind of goofus yelling outside. They get pissed at the church. They get some guy who decides that the end of the world is this date, even though God said it wasn't, you know, and they get led astray. In none of those scenarios is the focus on Christ where it belongs, right?

It's always on something else. It's always on man. It's always on, oh, look what I found in the Bible. Look at the dates that I've conjured up, sitting, you know, burning the midnight wax, right? They're totally missing Jesus in those scenarios. And that is the disappointment. But the thing is, is like, if you're reading your Bible, you know who's screwing it up. You know what I'm saying? Like, if you know your Bible, if I've been reading the Word of God, I know where man is screwing up. But instead, if I don't bother to do that, man can lead me astray. Some doofus in a big bus can convince me that the end of the world is X date, even though I know Christ didn't say that. Well, and there's, I mean, there's, there's, there's a scripture, like a Pauline epistle scripture, right? Pointing to, don't, don't sit here and try to do this. It's not a checklist. Like, the end times are not a checklist to be marked off and wait to see. Like, man, I wish I had a direct verse. I'm kind of looking for it, actually. But, you know, like a direct representation of Paul saying, look, don't, don't sit around and try to figure this thing out. You know, just, just keep on living. You know, it seems like I, it's, it's kind of annoying. You know, people say stuff like this and, and totally misunderstand a, the heart of God. They're more, they're more worshiping the event and you're missing, you're missing not only

the sacrifice that Jesus made for you, but you're missing the heart of God in this whole thing. You know, God set up a set of rules to help you maintain your freedom. You know, I mean, he sets it up so you have, you have a lot of freedom in your life to, to, to live, you know, and there's a set of rules that he put up so you don't get, so you don't hurt yourself, you know, and then they, they, they get focused so much on the end times and what this great massive thing is going to be. And, you know, you're missing the whole point of God in the first place. You're, you're missing the whole point of a loving creator, uh, that wants to know you personally because you want to know him personally when he comes back, you know? Yeah. Yeah.
