It's very much a solid. Okay. The last world premiere we had here is when Pants showed his ankles. And, whoa, buddy, there was disappointment. Woo! I'm telling you. I'm glad I wasn't here for that. Yeah. It's the promo art for the world premiere of Pants' Ankles was real tricky. Also, Rebecca's in studio with us. Rebecca, thanks for being here. Thank you. Hello, hello. You'll also be world premiering something? Pretty soon, yes. Okay. See?
Exciting. Stay tuned. I don't have anything. I brought the same old mic with me. Just as disappointing as last week. What would you premiere if you had the ability to? My new poem. Give me a couple lines of it. It's not ready yet. It's not ready for world premiere. It starts out, in a blade of grass, I sit alone. That's it. That's all I got so far. It could turn so many corners, it would blow your mind. I do have a question about that. How can you sit on a blade of grass? Sir, that is impressive. Now see, the end of the poem explains how it's done. I don't want to let it go. It's mystifying. It has to do with Jesus. Okay. It's a Jesus piece. Jesus can make it happen. I guess if he can walk on water, I guess he can sit on a blade of grass. The last line is, Jesus can do what he wants. All I have to do is get myself from alone to whatever rhymes with wants, and I'll be finished. Really, it's not going to be very long. As long as you present it as a Mike-oo.
Hello. Hey, so I thought, speaking of really corny, so Harold Camping had a stroke this week, or today. I think it was over the weekend. Okay. So Harold Camping was the guy that predicted the end of the world, and we talked about this for a long time. Remember, we had Steve Brooks on from Boone Bible Ministries who came on and kind of shared where that perspective those guys were coming from. And so I read in the news report today that he had a stroke on his right side, which means that all he has left is completely wrong. Hell. Hell. It's like sandpaper. It's a bit rough. Oh, man. The end of times. I was really happy with that. I mean, really happy. I don't know if I'd put our flagship on it, but it's somewhere to start. Oh, man. Ben Foost, you genius, you. All right. You're listening to Live from the Path. Let's get to Echo a little bit. So you are a rapper, a hip-hop artist? Yes, sir. Is that the best way to say it? Yes. I'm pretty white, so you're going to have to help me out.
That's okay. Yes, I am a rapper. Okay, good. So how did you get into that? What took you on that route of expression? What got you into that part? I have to say it kind of began when I was younger. My mom just brought us up with a ton of music. She's always been musically inclined. She just brought us up with a lot of jazz, and that's kind of what there was back then. Now I've been listening to a ton of rap, kind of got into that about four years ago, just listening and listening to artists and just hearing what they had to say. It just kind of got me going. I can't really explain it because it's just a passion that all of a sudden burst from me. It wasn't something that I had been practicing over and over for years. It's something that I had been listening to and just thinking about and putting into practice in my life from what I've heard from them and how that went with Scripture and just how those two combined. It was a beautiful thing, I guess I would say. Well, and that's a unique thing. And one of the things that I guess, after listening to some, because I will admit to not being all that familiar with Christian rap, one of the things that I think it really does is it brings out the power of the Scripture because there's… Which actually rap tends to do anyway. Yeah. Yeah. But I mean, you can… It's like the cadence of it just has a little bit more of a punch and a push than… We're kind of used to Scripture, hymns, you know, flowing nicely.
God's rowing the boat down the river, whatever he's got going on. And there's something that just is… God's rowing the boat down the river. I thought God was walking on water. Oh, man. What a bummer. God's rowing on the boat and Jesus is walking on the water beside him. How's it coming, Poppy? All right, you young buck. Give me a ride. I won't put up with this much longer. Can I just get in the boat, Dad? I walked, you're walking. Mother, I didn't buy this boat for you to enjoy. So, but it's the… But the cadence of it, like, allows it to be… I don't hit you differently than I think other forms of music may allow you to do so. Right, there's a difference between he keeps me singing as I go and, you know, something with a little bit more rhythm and walking. Are you going to do an example, Mike? Yeah, I thought about it, but then I backed out totally. I didn't do it. I should have, but I wasn't going to do it. We'll leave it to the professionals. I couldn't think of anything that rhymed with Chronicles. Bummer. So, I guess, do you find that you're normally getting inspiration for your tunes from Scripture? Is that where they start or they weave in? How does that work for you?
I would have to say it's kind of more of a weave in kind of thing. For me, whenever I look for inspiration, usually it comes to me, which is a blessing in itself. I mean, I would not expect that. But it just comes to me, or I just listen to secular radio, to be honest. I listen to what people are listening to these days and what really gets them, and the stories that are behind that, and that's just kind of what makes my music, the stories that people have, the pain in their life, and then just what I feel God is echoing to me. That's also kind of how I came up with my name. But yeah, a lot of it is just Scripture coming to me after the fact that I started writing, and just realizing that, whoa, this matches up with this piece of Scripture, which is an awesome thing because, I mean, there's just so much truth in the Bible. I like that because it reinforces the thought that God plays in every arena. Right. You don't say, like, whatever you've got going on, I don't have to say something that's biblical and hope that you kind of squeeze yourself into it. I can say, where are you at? And then, you know, in this way, God can meet you where you're at, whatever you've got going on. Here's something that helps. He doesn't just know where you're at. He invented where you're at. He knows what you're about. It's not an issue. And so, yeah, that's very cool. It crossed a lot more lines and doesn't alienate people who would otherwise be alienated just by almost just simply by music styles, you know? Well, you know, and that is kind of an issue, right? Because if you try to shove somebody in the God box, they don't get to know the personal relational God, right?
You say, like, here's God. Now, you try to fit your life here. And obviously, there's some bending to do in a relationship with God, right? But when we're talking about the one-on-one, the relationship that you're allowed to have with the all-knowing Savior, you know, it's good to meet on that level and to understand that he's playing on that level. Sometimes I think we feel like he's, you know, a million feet in the air without walking with God implies next to, right? Not towing behind, not looking at the binoculars and see what he's up to, not walking next to him as he rose the boat. Yeah, exactly. And that's what I try to convey is we have a mission to be the bridge to God because we aren't God, but we do have him dwelling in us. So they should be able to see that light shine. And that's what I'm hoping with this music, that they be able to see God through the message and I don't have to say God, God, God over and over again. And I don't have to proclaim a verse for them to get the truth that comes from that verse that I found. Which is actually, I mean, that's a goal for just a Christ-following life anyway, right? Like, and we've talked about this before, like when you're attempting to, you know, witness to people and talk about how you have a relationship with Christ, you know, you say Jesus 50 times, they'll shut you down. They don't want to talk to you anymore, you know, but they'll look at a lifestyle from afar and see, man, there's just something about that cat that I dig on. What's the deal? You know, and if it's Jesus coming out of you, then they'll eventually get that point without you having to say thee, thou, and shalt not, and really blow them over the head with it. Yeah. Sandals and put that robe on.

So delicate, your mind can't overcome it. So, so you feel, just want to run from it. But you keep on feeling you're going so weak. Because to the extent that he's sleeping on the couch and she's wondering what's going on, that means he's a coward. That's right. Because if there had been a legitimate reason, like he could have said, look, honey, I love you, but you snore like a Kodiak bear. I got to be at work at 530. I'm going to go sleep in the kid's room or I'll sleep here until like 3 and then I'll get up and move to the living room or something. Then, you know, here's the reason. Here's why I'm on the couch. If he wasn't a coward, his wife would know the answer to this already. He's a coward. He may need to shut it down. He's embarrassing. This table just took a lot of damage from that package. There's a lot of actors out there, so make sure you find the right guy. How do you know which one he is? Describe yourself for everyone. Yeah, sign language conversation real quick. It's a radio show. What's up? What do you know about life? Well, it's a board game. And a PlayStation 2 game. Oh, and a computer game. It's so many games. Life is one big game. Go to the serpent. Go to the serpent. That game has got to be terrible. It's actually kind of funny. They're like bobbleheads. Their head's like five times their body size. They're like this the whole entire time. Yeah. Oh, man. The head is bigger than the car. They're cruising to good music. Mike, you got… What are you talking about? Some kind of Old Testament business? Oh, right. We were going to talk about this. So, here's the deal. As I was in Leviticus this week, you'll notice this if you pattern, if you watch the show from week to week, which is very unlikely, but if you do, I'm in an LTG where we go through like 20 chapters of the Bible every week, 30 chapters, supposed to, and anyway, about
every week I read the chapters I'm supposed to, and I come up with like some new crazy thing that I think is the be-all end-all. And so, we happen to have started, gotten through the New Testament, and now we've made our way to Leviticus. So, we're just going to hit Leviticus real quick. There's something that I thought was really interesting. It said, it was just after the Lord had got done, the Egyptians got out, the Egyptians, the Israelites got out of Egypt, and the Lord, freedom, walked through the desert, got them to where they needed to be, and then he spent 40 days and 40 nights telling Moses how things were going to happen, how the sacrifice is going to work for atonement, how they're going to live life, what's allowed, what you can eat, what you can't eat, all this jazz, okay? So, God says, here's the deal. I want you to do sacrifices like this. Aaron, who would be Moses' brother, has a couple boys, and they go through the sacrifice thing and kind of get them fired up, and Aaron's boys thought they would help, and they did it wrong. They didn't do what God had asked them to do, and they didn't do it in the exact way that God had laid out for them, and God killed them, smoked them, set fire down, burn them up, that was it, and it's a huge deal, and the line in, the verse that I really liked about it was in Leviticus 10.10, it's because you see God do something like this, and you go, man, that's a bit strong, isn't it, you know, that you've got to kill somebody, you know, just because they started a fire, you didn't tell them to start or whatever, and the thing is, is the verse that applies to it is at Leviticus 10.10, and it says, you must distinguish between the holy and the common, between the unclean and the clean, and you must teach the Israelites all the decrees the Lord has given you through Moses, and what this reminded me of is that when you're going to follow Christ, you're going to do it on purpose. It's not something that's going to come on accident. Just by you attending church, showing up at youth group, or showing up at your midweek
class, and, you know, being around people who love Christ, it's not going to change for you. You have to be able to discern between the common and the holy, because that's how you know the difference, and that's how God knows the difference between you and everybody else, is because the holy is the set apart, and that's you. And I was thinking about it on my way here today, is the, it amazes me the agreement that the Lord has entered us into, you know, like, for some reason I likened it to go and buy a new car, like, I show up to buy a new car, and I say, I'd like to buy this car, and they say, well, we're going to have to pull your credit, and we're going to have to look at your finances, and we're going to look at your driving record, and it's terrible. They have no business giving me a car, and they say, you know what, you're qualified. We're going to give you a brand new car. All the bells and whistles, everything. I'm like, oh, great. You know, how much is that going to cost? And he says, nothing. It's free. I said, no financing or nothing? He says, no, it's yours. He says, but I got some rules. I want you to keep it clean, and I want you to drive it nice. I want people to look at it and say, where'd you get that car from? I want to know. And I say, well, you know, what if someone runs into me, you know? And he says, well, we'll fix that. No problem. I said, what if I break it on purpose? What if I crash it? And he says, well, I tell you what, don't try to fix it yourself.
Don't take it to someone else to fix. Bring it back to me, and I'll fix it. But that car stays here, and that car will run forever because I gave it to you, and it's my gift to you. The car is salvation. The car is your relationship with Christ. It's free, and all you have to do is remember that he wants you to keep it clean so people look at you and say, where'd you get that life from? I got it from Jesus. That's where I got it. And it's free to you, and you can use it, and it'll run forever for you even when you wreck it or someone tries to take it from you. I'll fix it. Just bring it back to me. As long as you don't bring it somewhere else, don't take it to your mom. Don't take it to your dad. Don't take it to your buddy. Don't take it to Oprah. Don't take it to Abby. Bring it back to me. I'll fix it because it's my car. And it just seems to be a huge deal to me when you're really trying to figure out where your brass tacks are of where your walk with Christ is. Can you look at your life and say, I am the difference between common and holy because Jesus is the difference between common and holy, and I'm walking with God, and that's it. And that's what I got out of our reading this week, and it was in Leviticus 10. Dude. That was awesome.
That was great. Solid. Are we going to fist bump? If you want to. Let's put it all around. Boom. Are we doing like cross table fist bumping and everything? Yeah. This is really cool. I generally don't touch people. Ben's like, oh, no. No. What happens? Squirts out some of the chair backs. Yeah. I like it. I like the thought of, I'm going to give this to you. You keep it clean. And then if you don't, I'm going to kill you. And if you don't, I'm going to take the car and I'll kill you. You can't, I call the loan due when it's my turn to call the loan due. Oh, I had another example there about the maintenance, and I forgot to, dang, I had it in there. I was going to say, look, what if I have maintenance troubles with it? And Jesus, aka the salesman, says, you won't. It runs fine. There's nothing wrong. I love it. Dang.
Anyway, I thought that was a solid example. I think it relates easier, because sometimes you've got to put God's stuff in a box that you can handle. It doesn't make God's stuff any less holy. It makes you an idiot. And you've got to put it in your own idiot box so you can get it. And I have to do that a lot. I have to take what God has said and put it in my little viewing box so I can understand it, because then I can expound on it. I can't grasp half the stuff that he says outright.
