Segments
- Show open: Azazel, Leviticus 16, and the Denzel Washington movie 0:17–3:09
The hosts open the show at the Pathway Studios in Johnston, Iowa. One host introduces himself as Ben. A caller/voice asks 'Mike, Mike, are you here?' and the pre-show chat has been about Leviticus 16:8 and who Azazel is (one lot for the Lord, one scapegoat let go to Azazel). A host recalls a recent movie in which a man was Azazel and they nail it down as the Denzel Washington film (Keanu Reeves is ruled out; Training Day is cited to identify Washington).
- Studio banter: Intern or Burn promo, sermon jokes, a low-budget trip 3:10–7:20
The hosts tease the day's game, 'Intern or Burn.' Banter includes a running joke that a host steals sermon material ('I told you God created Google'), and one host recounts a comically low-budget vacation to the nation's capital: shared meals, staying in friends' homes in Pennsylvania ('We did anything to not spend money'), and a backstory about Cheryl being maid of honor at a friend's wedding while pregnant with Danielle.
- Question posed: how far does the Good Samaritan obligation go? 7:21–8:16
A host says he has a question about 'the length of which you are to be a good Samaritan,' describing a real situation from that day that left him unsure what he should have done, noting it has come up a couple of times in the last three weeks. The question is posed just before the trivia setup; its discussion resumes later in the show.
- Bible trivia warm-up: clean teeth, bleating sheep, the mule and the angel 8:16–11:14
Trivia questions from the Bible Brain Workout: which prophet alludes to people having clean teeth (answer: Amos 4:6, read aloud: 'God gave you cleanliness of teeth in all your cities'), plus 1 Samuel 15:14-15 (the bleating sheep and lowing oxen) and a question involving a mule and the angel of the Lord. The book answers with verse references only, so the hosts read the verses aloud.
- The Good Samaritan discussion: half-naked men, the QT, and the interstate 11:14–26:50
The hosts work through the Good Samaritan question with real stories: a half-naked man changing a tire in his underwear, passing a struggling man on the way to church ('I thought, I'm on my way to the temple'), a man standing outside a QT whom one host tried to send a colleague after ('I said, send Engeldinger'), a prayed-for commitment ('your will be done. I'll send someone back to get you'), and an interstate hitchhiker who needed a lift to Ames. Troy is addressed about running from smoking tickets; a host tells of buying deli sandwiches at Hy-Vee for a homeless woman; a purported homeless vet story gets dissected. Along the way they plug a July 1 'Saved on Sunday' tent revival at Eagle Vision and joke about the Cynic Byway.
- Honesty and unsolicited opinions: names, daughters, and what people think 26:50–36:56
The conversation drifts to honesty about other people's choices: silly example baby names ('Boot Rogers,' 'Sass Barilla'), a host's kid named Kurt with a J, and whether people should voice opinions on others' parenting. A Dear LFTP-style exchange surfaces about a man who said 'your daughter's an idiot' (his daughter Melanie is a social worker), turning into a debate over when honesty becomes cruelty and whether it matters what other people think. A movie 'playing in Pleasantville' gets mentioned in passing.
- Dear LFTP: is it ever okay to comment on another man's wife's looks? 36:57–44:11
A Dear LFTP letter: a listener writes that twice, at social functions, he and his wife met couples for the first time and a man leaned over and called the other man's wife 'gorgeous,' leaving the listener caught off guard and uncomfortable for the wives. The letter's two questions: is that comment appropriate, and what is the right reaction as the husband? The hosts rule it inappropriate ('It's none of your business'), note it feeds the ego, and land on 'you really married up, dude' as the only acceptable version of the compliment. Troy is polled and doesn't love it either.
- Dan Hudson's Bible Brain Workout quiz 44:12–48:56
A host announces 'It's question 248 in the Bible Brain Workout for Dan Hudson' and grills him: Ruth 4:13-17 (David's great-grandmother: Ruth), the only orator named in the New Testament (Apollos? Tertullus?), and Saul's words to his armor bearer from 1 Samuel 31:4 ('draw your sword and run me through'). A mock 'Welcome to open forum' segment and a caller-style 'take our next call' bit frame the round.
- Intern or Burn: Wily Characters of the Bible 48:56–1:16:00
The main event: 'Intern or Burn' with the theme 'Wily Characters of the Bible.' Troy Engeldinger is introduced as the second intern and pitted against intern Danielle; one host will write down Troy's answers. Roughly 18 multiple-choice questions follow (clean teeth = Amos, Jehu the reckless driver of 2 Kings 9:20, Jezebel, Saul vs. Saul, Leah vs. Rachel, Samson, Gideon, Eglon, 'Nibikanezer,' Ehud, Micah). The hosts admit they're stinking at it, George Washington gets a tangent ('always got picked to be the head of whatever committee'), and at the end nobody knows who gets the prize. Troy is told to answer first because it's funnier.
- Music: a clip from youth artist Echo 1:16:00–1:20:43
After the game, the hosts play a clip from Echo, 'the youth from an artist we had on last week,' directing listeners to check him out on Facebook. The song plays through, and the hosts react ('That was Echo'), admitting some of it stuck with them and some was painful.
- More trivia talk: Samson's riddle, the Sphinx, Saul and David, the Jubilee 1:20:44–1:28:09
Trivia discussion continues: where is the earliest example of a riddle in the Bible (Samson's riddle, Judges 14:12-18, quoted and paraphrased), a 'so pagan' tangent on the Sphinx's riddle, 'Samson's daddy,' Saul hurling his spear at Jonathan (1 Samuel 20:33), David cutting Saul's cloth in the cave (which prompts a host's confession about sneaking around bathrooms cutting shirt corners), and the Year of Jubilee ('the release to slaves,' land returning to families in the 50th year). A listener named JC chimes in from the chat with 'Saul.'
- Hard question: why don't modern Jewish people keep the Old Testament law? 1:28:09–1:29:42
A host asks why modern-day people of the Jewish faith don't continue to follow the Old Testament law. The hosts reason through it: there is no temple (the Temple ground in Jerusalem is under Muslim control), the required elements (the heifer's ashes, the cloth and ringlets) are unavailable, and sacrifices can't be restarted at a random temple — which raises the open question of how a future return of the Messiah is signified.
- Spirit Midwest promo, Vance Lambert's birthday, and 'Just Vance' 1:29:43–1:38:34
Technical difficulties hit while the show plays a track, so the hosts vamp: they plug the Spirit Midwest Music Festival (August; spiritmidwest.com), note that Vance Lambert is playing this year, learn it's Vance's birthday, and spin his Lady Gaga 'Just Dance' parody 'Just Vance' in his honor ('who has been on the show before'). While the track buffers they banter about Vance reminding a host of Jehu — then get tangled over whether Jehu was the husband of Jezebel ('Wasn't she wicked?').
- Declined invitations and planning the Mad Style remote broadcast 1:38:34–1:45:09
Two invitations were declined: a guest who politely declined to come on ('thoughts on… witnessing') and another contact (a writer of a New Testament authorship article) who casually ignored the ask. Then the hosts plan a remote broadcast at Mad Style for a Friday night and Saturday: how to power it (a DJ with 900 extension cords; 'An electrician doesn't equal power from above'; mobile spider boxes with 350-amp feeds), who will watch it (Joe Conn asks), archiving 48 hours of footage, RVTV 'like Channel 13,' camping on site, and 'broadcast into the wee hours for no reason.' A digression on Esau's hairy son and a perfume-making tangent closes it.
- The snipe bit: snipe hunting, Boy Scouts, and trout 1:45:10–1:48:43
Someone proposes live snipe hunting for the remote event, and a host who has never heard of a snipe hunt asks what it is. One host reads a Wikipedia-style entry aloud ('A snipe is any of about 25 wading bird species…'; the jack snipe restricted to Asia; hunting snipe gave rise to the term 'sniper'). They reminisce about Boy Scouts/Cub Scouts, the pillowcase method, and learn Troy has never seen a live trout ('That doesn't mean trout don't exist, Troy'). Dan is asked whether he's ever caught one; a 'hairy dude link from Stacy' gets pulled up on screen.
- The daughter's card and the wrong picture on the radio show 1:48:44–1:51:37
A host's daughter made him a card that got posted on Facebook before he saw it ('An amateur move'). Then the studio pulls up a picture on the show feed and nobody can agree who's in it ('She looks like Esther. My wife. My daughter is the one I'm holding hands with' … 'My wife is not in the picture. That does not look like my daughter at all'). It goes poorly for Dan, and the host makes a new rule: 'I don't want to see my pictures on the radio show.'
- Sign-off: Balaam's donkey, tornado warnings, see you next week 1:51:38–1:54:41
Closing banter: 'You should have said, I am Balaam, and I'm talking to a donkey,' Mike is told not to give a certain look, and a Jehu joke becomes the send-off gag ('Don't let Jehu drive you home now'). Tornado warnings are in effect, so the hosts give storm-safety tips (center of the house, as many walls between you as you can) before 'Thanks for being with us tonight' and 'We'll see you next week.'

Full transcript
Live from the Pathway Studios in Johnston proper, you are Live from the Path. You're listening to Live from the Path on liveforthepath.org. My name is Ben Fusco. Thanks for being with us. Mike, Mike, are you here? Azazel. We're having a, sorry, we're having a, we were discussing just before we came on the air, Leviticus, what did I say, 16.8? 16. Yeah. Yeah, Leviticus 16.8 on who is Azazel. And it was the, the story is about the scapegoat. So they, you cast lots, one for the Lord, and then one gets let go to Azazel. So who, who is Azazel? I seem to think that I saw a movie within the last five years where like there was a guy who was, who was Azazel. It was, uh, uh, gone completely. Was it with Keanu Reeves? No. He was a heavy smoker? Who was in any given, who was, uh, who was in Training Day? Denzel Washington. Yes, it was Denzel Washington. He was Azazel. It's like the Book of Eli? Azazel. No. Is that movie good? I haven't seen it. I love that movie. That's really good.
It was excellent? Yeah. Yeah, I liked it. Anyway, you're listening to Live from the Path. My name is Ben Foost. Hey, thanks for being with us. We really appreciate it. Uh, we have a, uh, uh, a par show. Par? Eh, probably. It's a par show. No, but nobody's getting video out there in the chat, they're saying. Do we have, uh… Man. Hold on a minute. Oh, now Stacey has it. Okay, then. Hey, if Stacey's got it, that's all we need. Hey, uh, refresh the deal if you're having trouble. Hey, Stacey. I told him on the chat, but I thought I better say something. What an embarrassment. Hold on, let me see if I got it. I think I got it. Oh, there we go. We're, we're, they're all. Yeah, everybody, okay. Okay, okay. We're rocking and rolling.
That's what we're talking about. That's Azazel. Anyway, has anybody seen that? Oh, I wish I could figure it out. I should have looked it up. I don't know what kind of slob comes up in a show like this and doesn't look up as what movie Denzel Washington was in that I'm thinking about. That's lame. Well, you're sitting by the computer, aren't you? That's why God made Google. I love Google. I don't think it was Dogma. I don't know what it is. We talked about Dogma last week. Troy Engeldinger did not like it. Yeah. Sounded offensive. Oh, because of the buddy Christ? Yeah, he didn't like that. It's an X-Men thing. No. X-Men? Unless I spelled it wrong. It's showing up all kinds of X-Men stuff. Anyway. Yes. All right, so coming up today, we are doing Intern or Burn. You're in some trouble. The intern really got smoked last time. What is the topic?
Or is it all over the map? Oh, how did they word it? You said like crazy characters or something. Yeah, it's not along that line. How did they word it? You stole it again? Well, of course. You stole it. I told you God created Google. Oh, damn. Now I'm starting to suspect your sermons. No, no. That's not stolen. Well, I would almost assume so. The life stories that you tell can no way of having anyone else. So I bought this shirt. I was so disappointed. I was thinking about this for two weeks. Dan was going to be gone on vacation in the nation's capital, and I thought, sure, he was going to come back with some kind of red, white, blue eagle button-up shirt that he bought in the capital somewhere. I probably would have. It was a low-budget trip. I probably would have. We told everybody before we left, this is as cheap. We shared meals. We stayed in homes. We under bridges. We did anything to not spend money.
You stayed in homes? In Pennsylvania. Really? Did you know somebody? Well, we did after we left. They looked nice. We're going to make you friends. Hey, can we stay at your house? Yeah, it was friends. Cheryl's a maid of honor. Oh, no kidding. Yeah, so they go back a ways. Matter of fact, well, she was the maid. They were there, they were in each other's, you know, maid, major, whatever, whoever. And Cheryl was pregnant with Danielle when she was in her friend's wedding. Oh. Did you have to pay more for a bridesmaid's dress if you're pregnant? I suppose it takes more space. But it was before there was a lot of showage, so the average person probably didn't think. Huh. Yeah. Anyway. So we're going to do an intern to burn. So we're going to see how Danielle does. What are you looking at? Okay, well, we'll set Troy up for the game. Okay. If it's pretty brutal, we'll say we're testing out interns so it can be Danielle or Troy. Okay.
That way you're not tanking it on your own if it goes terrible. We'll set up Troy Engeldinger to kind of… Double burn. So he's on my team? No, no. You're pitted against him. Yeah. Who will be the intern? Yeah. I think it's the better story. If I were you, I would make him answer first. Yeah. One goes to the Lord and one goes to Azazel. One goes to Azazel. Yeah. We better figure out what that Azazel is before we send somebody. With the scapegoat, with the sins of the people. This is genius. This is really going to work out. All right. So we'll do that when Spanglinger gets here. Have Troy answer first. It'll be funnier. After I already know the answers? Yeah. Even if you know the answers, say, Troy, what do you think? Okay. And then we'll watch him haul around. All right.
All right. These are pretty decent. I would say I was 85% though. We'll talk about it when we get there. Oh, you're in trouble over there. You shouldn't have said that right now. All right. Wait until… Just a psychiatric a little bit. Thank you. We're also going to do a Dear Live from the Path, a couple of those, where someone has written to Dear Abby and we have stolen the question and answered it on our own behalf because we're way more helpful. Oh, absolutely. We have spiritual advice in the pagan world. Yeah. We're going to do that. You know what? We did Dear Live from the Path last week and there was some dissent. There was some dissent at how hard I was on the guy, on the guy that didn't want to sleep with his wife. He slept on the couch. His wife wrote Dear Abby and said, hey, look, my husband's sleeping. He's sleeping on the couch and I don't know why. And I called him a coward and there was dissent amongst the group's fellows. No, I think you were right on. I think I was spot on. The guy was a coward. It was like he just wasn't communicating well or something?
Well, you'll probably have to go back and watch the discussion. Are you saying there's archives of the show? Yeah, yeah. I don't even know where you can find them. You can find archives on www.livefromthepath.org. You can also sign up for the audio podcast. Link on the far right side. Also, if you go to the pathway, the pathonline.org, you can find archive audio from the show on that website as well. Huh. So if I happen to miss a show, I can go back and actually watch it. Yeah. That's really cool. Well, that is fascinating. You can check that out. That's like… Do you send out newsletters? We're technologically advanced. To tell people what's going on with the show? Yeah, it's it, miss. Is it under the link Azazel? Oh, man. I have a question about the length of which you are to be a good Samaritan. I ran across this situation today, and I'm just not sure what I should have done. And this has come up for me a couple times in the last three weeks, so I'm going to need some direction on it. Also, keeping on the quiz route, we're going to give Dan, who is not prepared for this, a random 10 questions from the Bible Brain Workout. 1,001 questions to exercise your mind.
Ah, yes. Wait, here's the propaganda. Fortunately, I'm limber. Here it goes. One mind-boggling Bible trivia question after another will twist, stretch, and push your brains to its limits. Yeah. You know what the best part about it? Well, placed in order of difficulty from the novice to the Bible trivia pro. Give me the last one in the book right now. All right, here we go. I'll just skip it all. You know they don't give the answers. They just give the verse, so you have to read the Lord's Prayer. They're in the back. Here we go. Which prophet alludes to people having clean teeth? Alludes to people having clean teeth? I'm going to say Jeremiah. Okay, look at Amos 4, 6. I'm going to say Amos. I said that they didn't give the answer. They gave the Bible verse, and you said, no, they're in the back. Yeah, Amos 4, 6. The Bible verse is in the back. Yep. Is it Amos? God gave you cleanliness of teeth in all your cities, and lack of bread in all your places. Yet you did not return to me, declares the Lord.
God brings clean teeth. There you go. I have to say, I don't recall reading that one. We're going to have to go through the book of Amos. I'm sure I have at some point, but I don't recall it. After Hebrews, it's Amos. Man, who was this? Whose sin was betrayed by the noise made by dumb beasts? Was it that mule? What was the story where the mule wouldn't move, and the angels wouldn't move because the angel of the Lord was standing there? That was different, though. That's a dumb beast. Sin was betrayed by the noise made by dumb beasts. They didn't betray. Like, someone told on them. Like, it's like, oh, I found out you're saying. References, 1 Samuel 15, 14, 15. Samuel. 1 Samuel who? 1 Samuel 15, verses 14 and 15. What's he looking at? Who? Ben. Samuel said, I don't know. I think you're paranoid, Mike. My ears, and the low end of the oxen, I hear. Saul said, they brought them from the Amalekites, for the people spared the best of the sheep and the oxen sacrificed to the Lord.
Yada, yada, yada. Stop. I'll tell you the Lord said that this might. Yeah. Wow. Great. There's bleeding of sheep and low end of oxen. So that's because that must be the part where they were supposed to kill all the animals, and he's like, wait a minute. I hear sheep. There shouldn't be any sheep noises. And is this when they didn't kill the king either, and he cuts the dude's head off? Oh. I don't know. That seems rough. Yeah, it's pretty rough. Okay. Anyway. If God says to do something, you do it. So far, you stink. Yeah, pretty bad, aren't I? Let's go to page one. How does it feel? All right. It feels normal. All right. So here's what's going on this week. This happened today. I'm driving home from work, and I passed a guy on the side of the road in the back of
a minivan, and he is in his boxies. Just his boxies. What? Okay. No shirt? Nothing else? No. A pair of boxes of sorts. Oh, that was me. Oh. Well, then I'm sorry. You didn't help. He's in a minivan. So he's in a minivan. He's got the back open, and he's sitting in it kind of half Indian style with one leg hanging out, and it looks like he's twisting on trying to get a spare tire out. And there was a car that had been right in front of him that was pulling away right when I was getting ready to drive up to the guy. And I thought, man, I really should pull over. And then I noticed he was just in his boxer shorts, and I thought, maybe I shouldn't pull over. Because, like, what is a guy doing driving around in just his undies? And maybe that was a bad situation to put myself in. Huh. So I wondered, like, as a good Samaritan, should I have stopped the man who was walking around in his skinnies trying to change a tire? I mean, he obviously needs help. He's half naked and has a flat tire. I think you should find out the back story of what happened to him first.
Like, if it starts out, I was changed my tire, and then something happened, like a wild beast took all of his clothing, then I think you'd give him a ride. But if he's like, I knew my car needed a tire change, so I went home, took off all my clothes except for my boxies, and came back with a fresh tire, I'd leave him there. Maybe he had a business suit on. He didn't want to get sweaty because he's going to a job interview. So he took them all off, didn't want to get them dirty. Let me ask you this. Do you think a job interviewer respects a greased-up man when he walks in, had a suit on, but now it's dirty? He says, look, fellas, I'm sorry, I wanted to be here on time, but I had a flat tire, or I changed my alternator, but I didn't want to call and cancel on you. So I'm here, I'm a little scruffy, I'm so-and-so. You think job interviewers dig on that? I think it depends on where you're trying to work. Yeah, Burger King, they probably don't care. Worked in The Pursuit of Happiness. Yeah. Isn't that movie? Yeah, the printer guy, he sold the printers. Yeah. I don't know. That's all I know. Here's what I'm saying. It should work, but I'm not sure that it does. So I guess the question is, if you think, wouldn't that, from a broad view, be a precarious situation to put yourself in? Yeah. Yeah.
Did you say this happened to you three times? No, it's a couple times the last three weeks. A half-naked man? Not always a guy in his undies. Me and Pants passed somebody on the way to church on Sunday, or two Sundays ago, maybe, that looked to be broke, or he was just walking. He was hoofing it. And I really felt like I should pick him up, and I didn't, because I had to get to church. Because you went by and thought to yourself, I'm on my way to the temple. I don't have time. That is exactly the thought that crossed my mind. I thought, I'm going to church to learn how to lead a virtuous life, and so that I will walk out thinking, hey, I can pick people up on the side of the road, and I passed the guy to do it. So, I don't know what compelled me not to turn around, but I was ready to do it, and for some reason, I never actually did. Now, to be fair, do you remember that guy I tried to pick up from the QT there about three or four months ago for the church? No. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I tried to send Ben after him. Me and the wife stopped at the QT, and there was a guy out standing outside by himself, and he was by himself, by himself, and he was just kind of standing around, you know, kind of talking to himself, and so me and the wife were out there, and she got in the car, and I thought, well, I better go talk to this fellow. You know, we were on the way to church, and I said, hey, how's it going? He goes, you know, hi, blah, blah, blah. We're great. He's kind of fidgety, you know, and then he started telling some kind of crazy story,
like he escaped out of an institution, and blah, blah, blah. He's like, where are you going with your beautiful family? I'm like, whoa. I said, well, we're going up to church, and I thought, invite him to church. I thought, don't invite him to church. Invite him to church. Don't invite him to church. I don't want to put him in the car with the kids. So I said, so do you go to church anywhere? And then he said, God is an expletive, and then shook his hand, his fist at the world. He goes, but I do like to pray. And I said, well, can I pray with you? And he said, sure. He goes, but don't, what did he say? But don't feel sorry for me. And then he swore a couple more times, and I said, okay, okay. You know, so I went over, I put my hand on his shoulder, and then he freaked out. And he goes, don't blankety-blank touch me, blankety-blank, blah, yell and scream. I'm like, whoa. I said, okay, okay, okay. I said, I'll just pray over here. I thought, now I'm going to pray for this guy. I said I was going to do it. I'm going to do it. Yeah. So I backed up about three, four feet. I said, okay, I'll do this real quick. You know, blah, blah, blah, standard issue. Lord, watch out for this man.
He's got some stuff going. And, you know, your will be done. I'm off to church. And he goes, so can I come to church with you? And I said, I'll tell you what. I'll send someone back to get you. The car's full. And so I went to church. And I said, the guy's got the QT needs to go to church. Can you go pick him up? I didn't go get him. You know what Ben says? No. I said, send Engeldinger. Yeah, we tried to send Troy. You could have sent the Carsons, because they wouldn't even know if there was an extra person in there. Just another wily body in the back. Who's back there fidgeting? That's the homeless guy. Don't touch me, man. It was a freaky altercation. Very freaky. But I was determined I was going to let him in the car. But then I thought, well, I can't have this crazy man with my kids. You know, I'll send Ben after him. That's when it gets a little tricky, you know, when you have a family. You know, you've got to be kind of careful. You have to be careful. I mean, it's your role as a husband to protect the family, you know, and to put them in a place of danger is kind of scary.
You know, I'd be more likely to do it by myself. But even then, I don't know. Well, but see, that's the thing. It's the consequences of your actions that start taking into effect, you know. Like, true, my family's not in the car. But if this crazy man murders me, that really puts my family in the straits. Yeah, that's true. Of course, if the crazy man murders me, my family is going to be doing well. True. Financially. Yes. Emotionally, they'll be skilled. There's a lot of guys out there. Thank you. Emotionally, though. I'm easily replaced. They'll be destroyed. Nope. Not according to your family, Dan. Man, I mean, I see where you're coming from, but I'm just saying. There are plenty of good guys out there. So, I guess, chat, maybe to throw it out to you, like, have you ever had yourself in a situation, like, when was the last time you had to help somebody, like, side of the road or, you know, you saw them at the Walgreens or whatever, and they obviously needed help. And have you run into a situation where you decided not to help because something about the situation just didn't feel right, you know? Like, you wanted to help, but something didn't feel right. I remember we had a, we picked up a guy that was hitchhiking, and he was out, he was out on the interstate, and he ended up needing a lift to Ames, like, you know, a good 30,
40 minutes away, you know? And I didn't have anything else going on in the middle of the night that night, so I thought, well, whatever, I'll drive him out to Ames, because I thought, you know, it didn't feel weird. It just felt like a guy was kind of in the straights. I don't know what he was doing out there, but he probably needed help, you know? And it felt okay. But, I don't know, there's just some situations where it feels like it's just weird. Like, you can tell something's up, and it's probably not a good idea to get in on it. I think my biggest difficulty is that there's such a culture of people kind of make their whole living by doing nothing, and they just kind of live off the church, which, you know, it's still our duty as Christ followers to help people that are in need. But I battle so much, within my own mind, half the time, I battle so much that, you know, they're long gone before I ever decide, yeah, I probably should have done something, and I'll call Ben, you know? Yeah, right. But, you know, they have, like, you know, if they're on the road, you can call the highway helper. They'll come, and that's their job. I think we decided the highway helpers are pretty, I like it. I appreciate the highway helper being around. Yeah, yeah. Do you know that people take advantage of this highway helper in California because gas prices are so high? Like, the highway helper will give you one gallon of gas to get you where you're going. And so people purposely, like, that's how they get back and forth from work. They break down. They wait for the highway helper to show up, give them a gallon of gas.
They drive to work, and they drive home, break down again, get a free gallon of gas from the highway helper, and then haul home. They got a 15-gallon tank in the trunk. They get just out of the next jurisdiction. Boy, that's not cool. It's pretty low. That is pretty low. So, Chad, nobody stops to help? When was the last time you picked up the hitchhiker? Or loaned someone a couple bucks that you've never seen? Mike, you giving anybody any hobos any five bucks lately? No, you haven't, have you? No. I haven't been asked, though. You buy your own soda. I did have a huge premonition. I don't want to call it a premonition. But I thought of a, I thought, I thought, I've never been asked to buy smokes by an underage child. And I felt slighted to buy it for some reason today. Like, I walked out of the get-and-go, and this kid kind of walked up to me. You know, I'm like, am I finally going to be asked to try to buy underage cigarettes for a kid? This is going to be awesome, because I have a whole, I have a plan in my head of what I'm going to say to him. But he kind of awkwardly shifted his belt, and then went into the thing, and I'm like, oh, man, I'm never going to get asked. If I get any older, you know, they're going to ask a guy that looks just older than them so they can relate.
And I'm going to be way out. No one's ever going to ask me to buy smokes for underage kids. Hey, ma'am, will you give me some cigarettes? Yeah. Hey, man, will you buy me a pack of smokes? What kind do you want? And then he'll get the money out, and I'll say, okay. And he'll say, and then I'll just take the money and put it in my pocket, and I'll get in the car, and I'll leave. That's the plan? And he'll say, but you didn't buy me smokes. I said, I didn't say I was going to. I just asked you what kind you wanted, and you gave me five bucks. And then I was going to get in my car and leave. I also know what I'm going to say to the police when they call. But what's he going to call the police? I tried to get this guy to buy me illegal smokes, and he stole my money? Good luck. That's what I'm saying. The odds are he is not going to call the police. So it's good shape. So what would you tell the police if he called them? You said you got something to say to them. I would tell them the exact story that I did. I basically replayed my genius effort from earlier and hoped the cop would be like, look, you're going to have to give him his money back. And I'll say, all right. I'll tell his old man. But he gave it to you.
You didn't steal it. That's what I'm saying. I just hung my hand out, and he put five bucks in it. I'm going to shake his hand. I figured he liked me. It's not illegal to be an idiot giver, though. You've got to give it back. No. Yeah. No. If I gave you something and I said, hey, man, okay, you can give it back now. And you said, no, I won't give it back. That's stealing. No, he isn't stealing. You gave it to me. Is it illegal for an underage to smoke or just to buy smokes? To smoke. To smoke, really? To smoke in general, yeah. You can get smoking tickets any time you're under 18. You know, I'd like to see what happens to those smoking tickets after they hand them out. Actually, did you speak from experience? Did they ever chase you down and handcuff you? I'm not proud to say, yes, I do speak from experience. Did you run from them, Troy? How much does that cost? The smoking ticket that I got from my school was, I think it was like 80 bucks. Holy moly. That's from your school?
Or just the officer in your school? It was the officer, yeah. $80. Wow. Yeah, they don't get around when they're in smoking. That's a lot of space. That's like a lot of money. Just jumping in, yes, I have given money to a hobo recently. Really? What? Tell me about it. I actually don't give them money. I ask them what they're wanting. And if they save food, I'll go buy them a sandwich from the nearest Hy-Vee or Walmart or something. But I won't hand them just straight cash. Because I don't know what they're going to buy with it. They can tell me it's for my kids and they're going to go out and buy a bottle of booze with it. I'm not cool with that. And if a lady came up to me a couple weeks ago when I was at Hy-Vee, it was like 3 o'clock in the morning. I was just getting to where I live and pulled into Hy-Vee just to grab myself something to drink and a pack of cigarettes and the lady came up to me, kind of hobbled over to me and I could kind of tell that she was under the influence and she was just like, hey man, can I borrow a couple bucks? And I'm like, yeah, that's no problem. What are you trying to get? She was like, I'm really hungry and I'm trying to get some food for my kids.
And I said, okay, no problem. Come with me. And I took her in the side of Hy-Vee and I grabbed her three sandwiches from the deli and I went and paid for the three sandwiches and I gave it to her and she was like, well, thank you very much and walked away because I had no idea what she was going to do with it. She's probably going to sell them sandwiches for booze. Yep. I don't know how she's going to sell them sandwiches. She's going to trade a turkey on rye for some methamphetamine. That's exactly what's going to go down. Way to go. Way to go, Troy. I don't know too many meth dealers that are going to be like, all right, you got that turkey? How many meth dealers do you know? I want you to sell these both. I'm really disappointed in this chat. No one is helping out a hitchhiker or handing out money to homeless people? I can help money to people. I don't care. I'm willing to do it. I've given clothes to people. I'm a girl. I can't. That's probably what happened to the guy who changed his tire. Some other guy came by and said, look, I'm really hurting for some clothes. He said, well, I'm just out changing my tire. He took off everything he had and said, here. I got more clothes at home.
Be gone. Could be. I don't know. Be gone. I have trouble helping out a guy who's in his skitties. I don't know. Something says to me, either a guy driving around in his underwear or – I'm not even all that concerned with how he got to that point. Either way, he's had some rough business go on about five minutes before I got there, and I don't want anything to do with it. Do you remember that guy that I tailed to see where he was homeless at? Do you remember the guy? It was probably about almost a year ago we were talking about him. Yeah, and he claimed he was a homeless vet, and so I tailed him, and then I stopped by where he was homelessing another day, and I pulled over and talked to him for a little while. And the woman gave him a gift card, that same guy, after I harassed him. I don't know whether it was – JCPenney's? It was to the McDonald's. Oh, yeah. It was 10% off the Spiegel catalog, just in case it arrives at your tent. If you don't burn it for firewood. That's awful. You know, I was surprised – we just were in New York and Washington, D.C. I was surprised not a soul asked us for help. I figured we got all kinds of people begging for money. Did they, you? There was – I think there were a couple.
Yeah, I just kind of walked by them, I guess. Yeah. You don't make eye contact. Did you feel totally out of place there in the New York? No. No, just like regular Joes. Yeah. I love New York. Is it awesome? It was just tiring. We walked everywhere. I was just – I'm kind of used to a casual life, you know, with the air conditioner. I don't do a lot of physical walking. It was like 101 degrees. Walking through Chinatown. Yeah. We were starving. We walked about 12 miles. We're in Chinatown. We're like, we're going to get something refreshing here. They give us hot tea. You know, it's like 101, but barely a fan in there. You know, like, seriously? They give you glasses of water that have like four ounces of water. Do you have an ice cube? No, there won't be ice here. It's like, oh, man. All right. That's pretty brutal.
It was brutal. We kept asking for more, and they're like, more water? It's 101 degrees out. That's what they say. That city will eat you alive. Yeah. New York. You're listening to life in the past. That city will eat you alive. Stay away from New York. Azazo lives there. By the way, in case you want to make a night of it this week at some point, on June 22nd, a friend of the show, Kevin Lindgren, will be at the Greenwood Lounge. Try to make it out to that. Help a guy out, you know? Go check a man out at the Greenwood Lounge. Lindgren's good people. You need to go see him. Yeah. He's good times. Also, on July 1st, Saved on Sunday, we'll be putting on a tent revival at Eagle Vision Church at 7 o'clock. In the tent? That's right. Will it be hot? It's July 1st. I think it's going to be steaming. Do I get air-conditioned seating? Yeah.
Get a big glass of water. Bring your own fan. Yeah. There you go. Bring your own fan. There you go. Anyway, check those guys out. Will there be goats? I'm not sure. Hey, speaking of begging, my brother-in-law said he was out, he was in either South or North Dakota, and there's boroughs there that are like vagabondish, and they hang out on the side of the road if you're going through the Cynic Byway, and then you pull up and like these donkeys come up to your place, your car, and like beg at the door until you give them something. Doesn't that sound awesome? I want one of those. Is it South Dakota? It's either South Dakota. I think it's South Dakota. But that sounds pretty fun to me. We should broadcast from there sometime. That's what we're going to do. We're going to take the show on the road and hit South Dakota. I think we should. Yeah. Yeah. I have to go, though. It would be pretty sweet. Like, if you pulled up and all of a sudden three or four vagabond donkeys came up to your
door and kind of nudged on it until you gave them some food to go away. I'm hungry. That sounds pretty cool. What kind of noises do they make? I guess it's kind of an e-haw thing. Oh, yeah. That's what it is. Tsunami? That's what it is. Tsunami. That's what it's asking for when it's hungry. Where do you get these donkeys from? New York. There's those New York donkeys. New York donkeys. All right. Yeah, that's right. By its right name is playing in Pleasantville. Oh, at the Pleasantville Smokey Row? Uh-huh. All right. Is that its name? I'm not sure. That's what it is. We're not getting into this again. You're listening to life in the past. All right. Mike, do you have any letters? Uh, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep.
Sure do. Okay. Dear Life in the Path, our daughter Melanie is finishing her master's degree in social work. She's excited about pursuing her future career. However, when we tell our friends about her, we get disappointing and sometimes hurtful responses. Some samples. Whose idea was that? You know she's going to starve, don't you? Oh, they don't make much money. And I'm sorry. These comments come from people with whom we've had warm relationships for years. We know our daughter won't be rich. That's not her objective. We're proud of Melanie's choice and how hard she has prepared. We think she'll be a wonderful social worker. We have always been supportive of our friends' children and their choices. Is there a way to respond to these people without being rude? Proud parents in Des Moines. Wow. They could be listening live right now. Highly unlikely, but. I think they could be. What would you say to them, Dan? I would say, you know what, if your ego is attached to your children, you're messed up. I mean, you've done your job. You've set the foundation. They've chosen a field that either they're going into or in a Christian setting, you know, they feel God has led them into. Who cares what other people think?
Who cares what your friends think? Who cares what anybody thinks? It's their life. I mean. I mean, here's what surprised me about questions like this is when people write, here's how someone offended me. How can I respond to them without offending them? Yeah. It's like, well, offend them? I mean, it's not like you're callously offending them. You're basically offering a retort to their offense. You know, when they say, what was that one comment that I thought was outrageous? That's a bummer. Let's see. The comment was, whose idea was that? Who says that to somebody? Your response is, it wasn't yours. Well, it's the same thing when someone names a child and people give their opinion to, you know. Yeah, but that's not fair because some people name their child stuff really stupid like Boot or Sass. Oh, yeah, Boot Rogers. Or Sass Barilla or something, you know. So, I mean, it's stuff that, I mean, the point is, it's really none of their business. I made my kid Kurt with a J. You know what I mean? People are ridiculous. Yeah, yeah. Why do they really care? Like, what does it matter to them? What other people think of their child's children?
No, the other people. Why are they commenting? Why does it matter? See, that's the thing. The question is, did they bring it up? You know, like, did the parents be like, you know, my daughter Melanie is going to, she's going to be a social worker. Isn't that great? And then these people are like, you know, what do you want them to do, a lie? You can ask them a direct question. Yeah, you did ask them a direct question. If you brought it up like that and they say, no, that's the worst thing you could possibly go for, you know, it's like going to school to be a teacher. You paid a lot of money and you're not going to make very much, you know. But then, once again, teachers, social workers, you know, the people who do it have a heart for it, you know, and are really interested in that line of work. And people who don't do it look at it and go, you make what now? You know, you could have just been on welfare, frankly, opposed to these professions that you've chosen, you know. So, I don't know. No, it depends. If the parents brought it up, you know, and were like fishing for compliments on their child's choice, and these people didn't have compliments to give, ah, you know. Yeah. Somebody's wearing their pride hat. Who knows how many, who has that many friends with no tact? You know what I'm saying? Like, most people have one friend who's really rude, but who has, like, this friend? I like to call them the truth teller of the group.
Notice how they said it. They said, some samples. Some samples. Some samples, yeah. We have many. They need to get some new friends. Well, they're obviously over, oversensitive, and they're looking to be, you know, offended, and that, because otherwise they wouldn't care if they offended back. I mean, if someone offended you, you're going to sit there like, oh, I don't want to offend them. You're like, whatever. I'll just tell you what I'm thinking as well, you know, because, you know, we're not wired that way. As long as we're being honest, like, we usually hold back the whole truth, because it's not very friendly sometimes. Yeah. So, they're already wired a little bit sensitively, which is fine, but, wow, who, I don't care if anybody likes what, I mean, it's not even my business what my child does, let alone somebody else's business. What kind of your business? Well, not really. Is it? Is it my business? I mean, do I. No. See? But you can help me pay for it. Yeah. That's the mentality.
The less I'm invited in the business, the less the cash is. I suppose as long as it's on the up and up, then it doesn't matter, right? Like, it's a legitimate job, you know, whatever, you get paid for doing work, as long as you're not slouching it or stealing. I mean, it's just like, what if, it's like, well, hey, my son is going to go work at Firestone. What are you going to say? Oh, it stinks in there. Oh, that place is filthy. Oh, yeah. That's dirty. Your son will fit right in. I've heard him speak. He knows their language. I mean, I don't know. I guess I'm wired differently, too. If I disagree with someone, I tend to not tell them because I figure, why do they care what I think? So maybe that's just the way I'm wired as well. Well, I mean, like, there's nice ways to answer that, right? Oh, she's going to be a social worker. What do you think? Oh, that's great. I'm glad she's on something she enjoys. You didn't have to say, hey, I think it was a good idea. You know what I'm saying? Like, you can answer that and not be a jerk about it. No, that's true. You can answer it and not lie. Yeah, well, because it's not lying just because you didn't say exactly what it is you thought
about it. Right. I think a lot of crappy stuff all the time. Oh, yeah. You've got to keep that filter on. Yeah. I'd say I'll give you 20 bucks if she lasts five years. Yeah. There's a lot of turnover in that because low pay and then you get caught up in the You should wager against her demise. Yeah, you're right, Dan. That's much better. That's going to be a nice thing. Well, that's great. Here's my card. I do counseling. They got this phone call to collect on the bet. Hey, man, I hear your kid lost her job. Where's my 20 bucks? You're a terrible person. It's Dan Hudson. You remember me. Really sorry to hear about your child's meltdown. All right, so what, Mike, what advice would you give them? What do you mean? About the people? Yeah, yeah. What would you tell them? Get new friends.
Or stop talking to these people. I'd say ignore them. Or stop worrying about it so much. Grow a spine. Yeah. No, I think I'd just get new friends. Yeah. It's a classic. It's a symptom of a disease. I think I'd just get new friends. I'd just go to the mall. Here's the thing. They obviously can't choose good friends, though. I mean, this collection of people is not a good set of friends. That's true. If you have more than one friend that's a complete jerk to your daughter, then obviously you're bad at picking friends, and you're probably just a little sensitive. Yeah. Or stop telling people what your daughter does. How's your daughter doing? I don't know. Yeah. She's all right, I think. Yeah. She could be fine. Could not be fine. She's part of the system. She's in the institution. All right, so what was Abby's response?
I don't know. Abby couldn't come up with an answer. I think her daughter's stupid, too. Hang on a second. Here we go. You should be proud. You have raised a daughter who will make an important contribution to the lives of those seats she touches. When someone makes a thoughtless comment, such as the ones you mentioned, tell them what you wrote to me. We're proud of our daughter's choice and how hard she has worked to prepare. We know she'll be a wonderful social worker. Period. That's going to be awkward. So, yeah, let's try that. We don't even know her. Hey, Melanie, my daughter Melanie's going to be a social worker. Hey, uh, who made that choice? We're very proud of our daughter's choice and how hard she has worked to prepare. We know she'll be a wonderful social worker. This is reading off your three by five guard. Well, uh, friend B. Oh, my mistake. I'm happy for her. I'm sure she'll be great. You've won me over on that one. Disaster. Troy, where are you at on this? Here comes the big thought.
With a sigh. Well, you don't want to see when it comes to your kids, the mentality that I have, I really wouldn't care. Like, I don't get offended easily. I don't care what people think about me. And I hope that extends into my family life of when anyone makes a comment about my kids. I mean, it's just like, this is something that they're obviously passionate about or want to do. Or they wouldn't go to college, to school, even as far as getting their master's in this. Actually, I heard of social worker is the easiest degree to get. And understandable, but it's still something you have to work at. I'm just kidding. I didn't hear that. Yeah, my mom wanted to be a social worker. Anyone that talked down to her could deal with it. Because my mom loved what she did, and that's all that mattered. It had nothing to do with the pay. It had nothing to do with the situations. All she cared about was the people that she worked with. Now, I say that, but I don't know. It'd be a little different in that exact situation if someone was railing on my kid. You know, like, I guess it depends on how old they are. If they're old enough to defend their own self. Well, if they're in college, obviously they are. You know, I don't know. Like, let's put it in more direct terms. Your daughter's an idiot. It's basically what they're saying. They think your daughter's an idiot.
Yeah. Well, I don't know. Like, why would you get in some kind of deep conversation with someone about it who was obviously so petty? You know what I'm saying? Like, who goes around calling somebody else's kid an idiot? Well, that's what I'm saying. I would say you're an idiot. I think it's how they're taking it. Like, they're too sensitive. You think so? So they could have said, like, oh, that's great or something. They think, oh, why did, like, okay, I don't know how to explain it. But you can have a conversation and I could get something completely different out of that conversation than you would. Like, maybe these people just, they're not reacting as happy as this couple expects. And so now they think that everyone around them is a jerk. Yeah. Everyone should be as proud as I am. And if you're not, well, I can't believe it. You're not seeing it for what it is. I'm going to explain it to you again. You know, maybe they secretly don't like it either, and so they try to oversell it and then get on there real sensitive about it. Ooh, they're cowards. Yeah. Back to the cowards. The dude, at least. Everyone is a coward.
At least the man. Okay. Dear, live from the path. Twice, while attending social functions, my wife and I met couples for the first time. On each of these occasions, as we were saying goodbye, the husband said to me, your wife is gorgeous. They said it in front of their wives, which surprised me. The first time it happened, I didn't know what to say. The second time I replied, so it was yours. Even though the women weren't all that attractive. I'm wondering if their comments were appropriate, especially because they were made in the presence of their wives. I wasn't offended. Just caught off guard and felt uncomfortable for their wives. I'd appreciate your comments. Married to a knockout. There's… Never mind. What? How? Danielle, where are you at on this? What do you think? How would that feel? You and your dude are out and about, and you hear the guy lean over and say, your wife's gorgeous. And then you leave happily to go to the McDonald's. Okay. I mean… You're good to the gorgeous one, I suppose.
They chose me, so… If they want to be with me, then… Good. Confident in that, I guess. That's okay. I don't know. I'm not sure. I would depend. I need to… On what? On whether the other guy was attractive? No, I mean, it depends on… Like, are they… They're married, right? Yes. Yeah. Okay, so they've made a vow to be with this person. Which no one seems to honor anymore. Yeah, that's true. And he is a big schnozzola. Continue. And his daughter, Melanie, is a social worker. It's not normal. I don't think I completely… I don't think that's exactly the right thing to be saying. Troy? Troy, is it wrong to acknowledge that another man's woman is attractive to him in front of the woman? I don't know if I'd say it, like, right after meeting this couple.
I mean, they've literally met that night. Why? Either she's good looking or not. Why does it take three days to figure that out? I understand the concept that you look at someone, you automatically know whether or not they're attractive to you or not. But I don't know if I'd literally just walk up to some dude that I met. I'm with my girlfriend. He's with his girlfriend. I'm with my wife. He's with his wife. Whatever. I can't imagine being comfortable walking up to the guy at the end of the night and saying, man, your wife's gorgeous. And then just being like, all right, sweet. Thank you. I think it is not okay. Are they intoxicated? No. No, they're a bright mind. I just… I don't think I'd feel comfortable. Does that mean he was lusting after her when he was sitting next to his wife? Obviously. Kind of. I mean, that's not okay. Can he not acknowledge that a woman is good looking without lusting after her? Everyone is God's children. I don't know.
No. I mean… I don't know how… Where did that come from? They're all attractive. You are right. The thing is, I don't know how many dudes you know, but the answer is no. You can't acknowledge that she's a gorgeous woman without lusting after her. I've had to deal with this my whole married life. Everywhere we go, there's women telling Cheryl how hot I am. Sure, sure. And I'm always like, you know, this is inappropriate. It's awkward. Wait a minute. Finish what you were saying. Yeah, see, that was wrong. Now, you see, just so you know, you have no chance with me. See, this is a wedding ring, and I'm married with her. And she's very fortunate. And who says bavoom anymore? Come on. Stop. Don't say that to me. I don't care if it's my license plate. Now, has your wife ever put you in that situation where she said, boys, she was very pretty? About another woman? To you? And you say… Well, you…
I have no idea. Which one now? Which one were you talking about? Was that Sally or was that Judy? Yeah, I was talking to Dan. A bavoom. I'm missing it. What was the answer on the guy? Is it… Well, so we have the two questions, right? Is it right for the guy, as another guy, to comment that someone else's wife is attractive? And two, if you receive that comment, what is the appropriate reaction as the husband? Take the ladies out of it, right? Let's say it's just three dudes, you know, let's say it's the next day, and the three dudes went out to breakfast. Sure. And one dude says, boy, your wife is gorgeous. I think that's even worse. I'd punch him right in the face. I think that's even worse, because the guy was thinking about it all night. I'd be like, yeah, she is. No. Sorry. I wouldn't do it. Stop looking at my wife. Does it feed your ego a little bit? Well, it does, but why would you bring that up? Is that a bad thing? Why would somebody bring that up?
Yeah. You know what? The thing is… Except for he wants the excuse to think about it. Dirty perv. That's what he's doing. Pancakes and perversion. Because I tell you what, from now on, when you see that guy anywhere near your wife, and even on the surface, even if something looks just a little funny, like he goes to get her coat for her or something, because he's closest to the coat rack, you're going to go, Curtis, you sly boots, stay away from my wife. You look stressed out. Let me give you a back rub. Yeah. Forget it. I don't want to hear it. Nothing about that is okay. Even if it's true, I don't want to hear it. It's inappropriate. I know how beautiful my wife is. It's none of your business. Ben. Yeah. I think the guy is in the wrong. I think that… Because you couldn't… There's no reason to do it. Like, there's not a good reason to have done that. It's not going to produce anything productive, right?
Because, like, if I say, hey, your wife's hot, and he says, yeah, she is hot, like, then we're just a couple of dirty guys going, yeah, she's hot. But, like, the only thing is to not, like, disagree or, like… I think if you're going to say something… I think you can say it without saying it. I think you can say, boy, you really married up, dude. That covers a lot of ground without saying anything in particular. It just means you don't deserve this woman for any number of reasons. I think that covers a lot of ground. Yeah, because that focuses on how much you stink, not how cool your wife is. Right. And that's appropriate. You're a dirty hobo. That's understandable. Yeah. I hope you shave your back. That would be… Yeah. I hope you shave your back. I'm going to say bavum one more time before the broadcast is up. I'm not going to say when. Dear Married to a Knockout, not only do you have a gorgeous wife, but your wife is blessed with a sensitive husband. Uh, the comments those individuals made strike me as insensitive to the feelings of their wives because it invited a comparison which could have made the women feel uncomfortable. I think you handled both situations gallantly. How did he respond? Because I forgot that part. Uh, he said yours too.
No. No. That's not no. Just say thanks. That's right. Right back at ya. Steve. You too, brother. I would have just said okay. Wouldn't you just say I know? Like, if you were the guy. Yeah, I know. I think it would shock you so much. You'd be like, oh, yeah, yeah. Duh. Thanks. I married her. It's like, yeah, how can you say thanks? It's like. Yeah. I didn't do it. Yeah. Well, they molded her and shaped her. Talk to Jesus. I don't know. Yeah. I lucked out. I obviously married up. That's probably how I would say it.
Yeah. I've said that many times. Yeah. And mendously. Yeah. I think that's what you say. I think, I don't even think you need to say something, you know, but if you feel the need to have to say something, whatever. Just say, boy, you married up, dude. I'll tell you what. That's enough. Well, I certainly wouldn't comment on their wife then. No. Yeah. Well, now that you bring it up. Yeah. Wow. That's just awkward. Weird. I think so. It's unnecessary, really. All right. Mike, do you have any more? Not at the moment. Okay. Dan? Yes. What was the name of King David's uncle? It's question 248 in the Bible Brain Workout for Dan Hudson.
What was the name of King David's uncle? David's uncle. His dad is Jesse. What is Jesse's brother's name? I have no idea. I don't remember. Ben, give me the verse. I'll get it. Let's see. First Chronicles 2732. I always wished that I had Jesse's girl. Yeah. Jesse's girl. Okay, Rick. Vaboom. There it was. She's so attractive. What did you say? 2722? That's where that song came from. 2732. Yeah. It's a biblical narrative. Jonathan, David's uncle, was a counselor, a man of insight, and a scribe. We should ask him. We should change the segment to Ask Jonathan. All right. Here we go. Give me the verse first.
What was… Oh. But that would give it away. No, I doubt it. No. Yeah. No, it could. No, not on this one. Mike, Ruth 4, 13 through 17. Boaz. What was the name of David's great-grandmother? Boaz. Women of the Bible. Ruth. Women of the Bible. Who was the only orator named in the New Testament? In the New Testament, an orator? Apollos? He was an orator? It was a silver tongue. Axe 24-1. Dan, you have to look that up. Mike's looking up something else. I got it. This is the Bible Brain Workout. 1,001 questions to exercise Dan's mind. Axe 22, you said? Axe 24-1. 24?
I forgot the Ruth verse already. Yeah, so did I. Forget it. Here, let me… Okay, I'm going to try… We're going to do intern or burn here in just a second. Let's try the number one question. Okay, the very first one? Yeah. I think it's progressively worse. I've got to start somewhere. Wait, did you want to know Axe 24-1? Yeah, yeah, what was it? Five days later, the high priest Ananias went down to Caesarea… I can never say that. …with some of the elders and a lawyer named Tertullus. Tertullus. Tertullus. And they brought their charges against Paul before the governor. Huh? Tertullus. That's awesome. Which is the first suicide recorded in Scripture? Ooh. That's the very first question? That's the number two. Number one was, which is the longest verse in the Bible? I have no idea. I'm going to go, which is the first suicide recorded in Scripture?
Mike, 1 Samuel 31-4. Saul. It's Samson. I thought it was Samson. Somebody check it. 1 Samuel 31-4. I had the judges before the… So, I guess I think that'd be right. Yeah. Yeah, it'd have to be Samson. Tertullus. Is that right? Yeah. And shall we take our next call, please? Welcome to open forum. Saul said to his armor bearer, draw your sword and run me through, or these uncircumcised fellows will come and run me through and abuse me. So, we had Saul. Saul takes Saul. Yeah. All right. That's the scene I had in mind, but wouldn't Samson be before that? Yeah. Yeah. Saul, there it is. Did the… Nice. Is that wrong? No.
It doesn't tell you. You just have to go check it out. It doesn't give you the answer. You have to go look it up. I like it. All right. But Samson would be before Saul. I guess not. That's not the way that… Because he's a judge. He's part of the judges prior to the kings. Saul was the first king. How much did you pay for that book? I don't know. I found it on the desk. I don't trust it. All right. I think Jared got out of the grotto. Welcome. You've been listening to Live from the Path. And if you've just stumbled upon the show, thanks for coming on. You've just made your way into the… In what is the internet's fastest growing competition. Enter in a burn. Mike, do some sort of… I hate it when you do this to me. I thought we had some music for this already. What was that? There was something different, maybe.
No, we can get Deuteronomy. Actually, hey. I was thinking that, too. Didn't it sound like this… Didn't the servant kill Saul? No, the servant refused to kill Saul, and Saul killed himself. Oh. He took matters into his own hands because the servant wouldn't do it. Bushido. What kind of? Okay. The way of the samurai. Okay. I had the same question. All right. Enter in a burn. Go ahead, Mike. The way of the samurai. The way of the samurai. Bushido, yeah. That's… Your knowledge of samurai seems to be over your knowledge of the Old Testament. Did I watch… I watch a lot of samurai. I like Tom. I like Tom Cruise. They play King of Kings all the time. I'm like, whatever. Oh, my gosh.
You guys do actually have no bakes. No bakes. I told you. I was going to ask you. All right. Enter in a burn. So, we're going to go the dual intern. Troy will be filling the role as the second intern today. Oh, you need some of those? Yeah. All right. Troy, do you have a piece of paper? No. Hold on a second. Here. I'll write down Troy's answers. Here. There's a piece of paper. All right. You can play along at home and see whether you would qualify as an intern on Live from the Path. Now, this time we're going to do it… Hey. I can look. I'm not playing. Hey, you. I'm the announcer. Can we do one at a time and then get the answer for everybody? Then do the answer rather than like last time?
Like, wait. Yeah. Yeah. We'll answer it right away. There's no play. So, whoever wins this gets to be the all-star intern? Yeah. Yeah. All-star Live from the Path intern. What is the category today, Dan? It's something along like unusual characters or something like that. Unusual characters. It's a different word. I can't remember it. Wild and crazy characters of the Bible. Wildy guys. Wildy characters of the Bible. This is intern or Burn on Live from the Path. Question number one. These are multiple choice. Interns. And Mike. I rock this game. Which of the following is most known for being hairy? A. David. B. Esau. C. Peter. D. Joseph. Intern?
Am I supposed to answer first? Yes. Yeah. B. Intern says B. What? Say you. Who was B? Esau. Okay. You got David. Esau. Peter. Joseph. Troy? No clue. C. Troy intern says C. I'm saying Esau. Esau. Esau. A-U is Al. Esau. Esau. All right. Your guess was Joseph or Peter? Your guess was Peter. Troy went with Harry. Harry Disciples.
The answer is B. And Chad agrees. Answer was B. Wily characters of the Bible on Intern of Britain. You got that right. That's one point for Danielle. Zero points for Spangenhammer. Question number two. He went by Big Harry E. Okay. That was his rap name. I'm so glad you were gone last week. I tell you what. So if I wanted to start my own rap career. What was your name? Eco? Anyway. If I wanted to start my own rap career. Could I be buddies with you? Could I follow you around for a few days? Number two. Which of the following is the most known for being a doubter? A. Daniel. B. Joab. C. Jeremiah. D. Thomas. Intern Troy. What is the answer? D.
Intern says D. What? Say you. I will also go with Thomas. D. Thomas. Danielle. I will go with D. Thomas. That's true. Oh. It's D. Is the guesses. The answer is D. Thomas. Probably the easiest question in this quiz. Mostly known as Doubting Thomas. Exactly. You had a t-shirt. I'm a doubter. Okay. Number three. Somewhere there's a doubting Leonard. Who is really happy about how that turned out. I feel really bad. Do you want to be on a t-shirt? I don't know. Number three. Wily characters of the Bible and in Turner Burn. Question three. Whoever gets this correct will get a no-bake cookie.
Which of the following is the most known as a reckless driver? A reckless driver. A. Jehu. B. David. Paul. I mean, C. Paul. Or D. The Ethiopian eunuch. Which one are you referring to? Danielle. Answer. I think it's Mike's turn to go first. Mike is not an intern. Are you playing? Full-time job. Wow. I'm just here to make side commentary on your guesses. Go ahead. I went first last time. Can you say the answers again? The answer. Listen, you can't lose with eunuch. Reckless driver. A. Jehu. B. David. C. Paul. D. The Ethiopian eunuch. There's a time limit on this game here.
Okay. What was the first answer? Jehu. David. I don't even know who that is. Paul. The Ethiopian eunuch. Don't you dare. Hey. Don't I dare what? Psst. Tori's going to whoop at his phone. We're going to have to pick this up, people. Okay. I'm going to go with the eunuch. Okay. Eunuch. Yeah. Intern says D. What say you? Troy? I go A for Jehu because I have no clue who that is. Here's the deal. Go ahead, Mike. Mike, you ever seen Paul drive anything? Don't you think there's a reason for that? Better think on it. I'm going with the eunuch. Paul had an experience with a crazy driving eunuch.
That would have been Philip. That would have been Philip if you were correct. Now, the funny thing is, I don't know if the Ethiopian eunuch was really driving. He was just riding in a chariot. Indeed. Let's just go with, you probably don't know who Jehu is because he was a reckless driver and died. Yep. Yep. Jehu was deceived. That's not necessarily true. But that's 2 Kings 9. 20. Again, the watchman reported, he reached them, but he's not coming back. And he's driving like the driving of Jehu, the son of Nemishi, for he drives furiously. I went back and forth between those two. Oh, yeah. Don't be a Jehu. It's all tied up. It's all tied up. This is Wily Characters of the Bible. Question number four. Which of the following is the most known for being wise? A. Job. B. Lot. C. Solomon. D. Jezebel. Troy. Troy, I think it's your turn.
Who's most like you, Troy? 2. Sure. 3. C. Solomon. Intern says C. What say you? That's creeping me out. C. Solomon. C. Solomon. C. Solomon. The answer is C. Solomon. The other very easy question. I was hoping that was the easy one. If not, I'm so… I've pulled a hit. Number five. Which of the following is most known for being tall? Tall. A. James. James. B. John. John. C. Rebecca. Rebecca. D. Saul. Saul. I was really hoping Samson was going to be in there, like Goliath. Abraham Lincoln.
Intern Danielle, what is the answer? Saul. Intern says Saul. What say you? Roust and Hammer. A. Who's A? James. Tall. Big tall James. Big bad John and his brother tall James. I'm also going with Tall Saul. Tall. And the answer is? The answer is Saul. He was head and shoulders taller than all the people. And they said, hey, he should be king. Look at him. I have no clue. You know, that same thing happened to George Washington. George Washington largely always got picked to be the head of whatever committee or whatever people were meeting because he was the tallest guy in the room. Yeah. I used to get called to play basketball. And then they realized, just because you're tall doesn't mean you're good. I'll take Husky, Dan. I wasn't Husky back then. I know. I was just saying that like now.
Like, okay. I better have one of those no big cookies. As soon as I catch my breath, you're going to get it. Dear Evan. Don't get a head start. My friend Mike. He doesn't like my shirt. How could I retort to him without being rude? I don't know what to do. Side out of breath, Johnston. Which of the following is known, number six, for being bald? A. Jacob. B. Elisha. C. Adam. D. Micah. Intern. Doppelganger. You're up. Three. Two. One. D. I can't remember the first two. I have no idea what D was. Jacob. Elisha. Adam. Micah. You're sticking with Micah after hearing the choices?
I'm sticking with Micah. Okay. What was the first one? Jacob. Jacob. Okay, what was the second one? Elisha. Adam. Micah. Elisha. I'm going with, yeah, that's what I was going with. Elisha. Really? Yeah, that's what I was going to say. You are correct. B. Elisha. Small boys came out of the city and jeered at him saying, Go up, you bald head. Go up, you bald head. That's 2 Kings 2.23. What did that mean back then? It meant something. I've got to get back in second, Kings. It meant you had no hair. No, it means something. I thought it meant you were a prostitute. Well, if you're a woman. He has a lady's name and it's bald. Elisha?
That's a lady. Elisha? That's what I'm saying. No, not Elijah. Elisha. Oh, I didn't know there was a difference. I thought Dan was just saying it. Dan was just saying it. And Elisha, not to be mistaken with his friend and cohort, Elijah. We've got to get a Bible study together. We're running into trouble. Just for a heads up, I've pulled way ahead, 7-3. Okay. I am, uh… You should not be confused. We've only done six questions. I'm 5-1. I don't know how I do it. I am so good. Which of the following is the most known for being beautiful? A, Esther. B, Miriam. C, Penina. Penina. Penina. Whatever it is. Penina, go ahead. Or D, Lucinda. Daniel?
A, Esther. Intern says, A, what say you? I agree with Esther. Her name's Danielle. I agree with Danielle in the answer of Esther. Oh, because you're appointed. Mike? It does indeed have to be Esther. It is. Mike, the answer is, I wouldn't have any idea. I only look for my wife and don't comment on what other ladies look like. Esther was a poor shame. They were like 2,000 years ago. That Esther, she's hot. That is correct. That is correct. Woo-hoo! That's the first sermon pathway I ever did. That's true. I know that in the holiday end. Once again. Wow. Once again. Moving on. Next. This man's physical presence was weak. A. Moses. B.
Zelophe… Zelophe… Zelophe… Zelophe… Zelophe… Paul. D. Jequaniah. E. Mike Fust. E. E. I'm going to go with, uh… Zuka… Zuka… Whatever he be. Zelophe… Zelophe… Zelophe… Zelophe… Zelophe… I'm going with Paul. Yeah. Zelophe… Zelophe… I'm going with D. The intern says, D, what say you? It is. Everybody answered?
No. Okay. You wasted your guess on Mike Fust. I'm sorry. Oh, oh. My real answer… Chad is all over the board on this one, by the way. I want to say Moses. That may be completely wrong. Moses? Moses is a weak man? Well, it says he came… His physical appearance… He came down from the mountain carrying two giant stone tablets. I know. He put them both on one arm while he rebuked folks. Yeah, but what was the question again? This man's physical presence was weak. Doesn't mean he is weak. He looked weak. Moses? You can look weak but be strong, right? Is this a trick question? Isn't that to him? Doesn't that to him say, weak but strong? I'm going with Paul. I'm just going to go with… It's not Paul. I'm going to go with Moses.
We're all over the place. Dan, what is the answer? The answer is the Apostle Paul. Oh, it's Paul. No way. He's a terrible driver. It's exactly why God used him, because he didn't look like much, and he spoke like a crazy man. Paul, I thought it was like Saul Paul. That's not fair. What did I answer again? I don't remember the name. The Apostle Paul. Yeah, Saul Paul. For they say his letters are weighty and strong, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech of no account. But Saul was like a big dude. That's Old Testament Saul. No, he just… Old Testament Saul was very tall. His entire body changed. Saul Paul. I never learned that ever. It was a rebirth. No, no, no. Once again, that's Old Testament Saul. There are two Sauls? These are two Sauls. All right.
There is Saul of the Old Testament. Speckler, we've got to do a Bible study. I'm talking about tax. I knew after Saul… Wait, wait, wait, wait. …the New Testament is persecuting Christians. Listen to me. I know that Saul ended up becoming Paul after seeing Stephen, the first martyr, being killed. Well, not right after, but… Actually, it was after meeting Jesus, but we'll go with that. I know. Whatever. Who was a terrible driver? Are we talking after Saul, Paul, and Acts? In turn, answer C for the rest. Next. I just read them as I see them. I could have said the Apostle Paul, but then, you know… Well, there aren't any other Pauls. This was Paul. Okay, so in Acts, that Paul. Yes. But it says in Acts, he's like a big dude, and he was the one who was like the guard dude or whatever, something, I don't know. I think you're confused. That's why people follow Apollos. Because, for they say, his letters are weighty and strong, but his bodily presence is weak and his speech of no account. This man was known for his long hair.
Okay. Oh, come on. A, Absalom, B, Isaiah, C, Jesus, D, Abimelech. Ooh, Abimelech. I know the answer to this one. Thank you, children's Bible. In turn, that's Troy. I answered C if they're right now, I'm kidding. Jesus. You've seen this picture, haven't you? In turn says Jesus. What to say you? An answer that very likely loses anything. You've got Absalom, Isaiah, Jesus, Abimelech. Did you say Absalom? I don't know. Yes. I'm going to go with Jesus. The answer is A, Absalom would be David's son, who got his hair caught in a tree while trying to flee a battle, and where he got wrapped up, tangled, his donkey left him, he's hanging by his hair, and then someone shows up and kills him. He is thick and long, and he had taken over his father's throne. Yep. Dethroned David. David said, if you find him, don't kill him. He's still my son, but this doofus couldn't cut his locks down, so he got caught in a tree, and they killed him anyway. His dad already said to get a haircut. We had just read this in the children's Bible this evening.
Ooh. Ordained by God. Let's see, that is 13 to 4. You're the worst scorekeeper I've ever seen. I'm going to deduct a point. This man is known for being patient. A, Eliezer. Mr. Love. B, Shema. C, Jonah. D, Job. Intern. Danielle. Job. Intern says, get a Job. What say you? Job. Two Jobs. Three Jobs. Three Jobs. We're going to go with Job. The answer is Job. You're listening to Wiley Characters in turn or burn on live from the path. What's next, Dan? This man was known for wearing a leather girdle. Oh, my. A, Peter. Joseph. C, Elijah.
D, Zadok. E, man in a minivan on the side of the road. Intern. Peter. Joseph. Elijah. Zadok. Roust and Halsters. Zadok. Zadok, probably. So, Elijah, right? All right. Not the bald guy. Not the bald guy. Answer? B. B was what? Joseph. Joseph. Joseph, the leather girdle. Technicolor drink coat and a leather girdle. Give me that man. I need someone to lead Egypt with some style. Enslave him. Intern says leather-bearing girdle Joseph. What say you? Danielle, are you cheating? Well, no. I'm just thinking.
Did you search the word girdle? I'm still stuck on this Acts Paul Saul thing, really. I'm going through every chapter of Acts reading. Get out of there. I'm sorry. Okay. Two-point deduction for cheating. Peter. Intern. That's a question that was already asked. The answer is C. Elijah. Wow. What's a girdle? They answered him, he wore a garment of hair and a belt of leather about his waist. And he said, it is Elisha the Tishbite. All right. Wow. Garment of hair. Garment of hair. I don't think so. That don't sound good at all. Good, smooth camel hair. Come on. All right. Wily characters of the Bible. Intern or Burn Dan. What's next? This man is known as a traitor.
Uh-oh. A. Jonadab. Jonadab. B. Obed. Obed. C. Judas Iscariot. Judas Iscariot. Or D. James. Were these the hard ones you were talking about earlier? Intern Danielle. I'm going to mix them up. Mike, you're going to have to take that computer away from her. I don't trust whatever's going on over there. You can read it. I don't like it. No one else is allowed to use the computer. I don't even have to cheat on this one, so. Go ahead. At least I think. Intern. Go ahead, Troy. Save. Can you give me the options again? Judas Iscariot. I'm just kidding.
Judas. I already have like 75 points. I don't even know why I need to answer. You are. But I'll say Judas. The answer is C. Judas Iscariot. If I wouldn't have got that, I probably should have left. This woman is known for having weak eyes. A. Leah. B. Sarah. C. Rahab. And D. Mary. This was on the last quiz. It was. I cannot remember. There's two questions that were on this quiz that were on the last quiz. Intern. Troy. D. Troy says D. Think through the Bible stories. I know who Mary. Well, Mary. Mary.
You know, because Mary has terrible eyes. That star shown really bright. Yes. I recall that one. The greatest story ever told. His mother had weak eyes. Sarah. Fine. I'll change it to B. Sarah. Has Jesus been born yet? I'm not sure. I can't see him. He appears to be bald wearing a leather girl. Leave me alone. And he's an awful driver. Isn't Sarah Abraham's wife? Or the… Forget it. I can't believe it. Danielle? Okay. For real. I need Sarah and Leah and… Leah, Sarah, Rahab, Mary. I think it's Leah. I concur. Legitimate intern guest says Leah. What?
Say you. I said Sarah. Leah or Leah. I suppose that's really how you say that, isn't it? I say it differently every time I say it. Keeps me safe. So, Leah? Leah. The answer is Leah. Who is that? It'd be Jacob's second wife? First wife. First wife. Oh, yeah. It was supposed to be his non-wife. Yeah, I remember he was going to marry Rachel. Yeah, he was going to marry Rachel, and instead, the dad put Leah in there while he… Leah's eyes were weak, but Rachel was beautiful in form and appearance. And so he ended up having two wives. Yeah, he didn't want to marry Leah because she had a… I like to think of her having a wily eye that kind of darts around. That's what he means by weak eyes. The challenge of that is you never know which one to look at when you're talking to someone. Yeah. My wife's grandpa has a glass eye, and it's awkward. What? Because it seems like he's staring right at you with one of them. This one's going to be tough. Even if he's looking to the side.
All right. Wily characters of the Bible. Go ahead, Dan. This man was known for his exceptional strength. Joash, David, Paul, Samson. Intern Troy. Samson. Samson, Daniel. This one's got to be Paul. It's Paul. Samson. The strong Paul. I'm really going with Samson. Samson. The answer is Samson. D. This man is known for conversing with his donkey. A. Simeon. B. Balaam. C. Zelophaned. D. Amos. Troy guesses F. Daniel. I'm playing this again. Answer.
Daniel. I cannot. I don't remember. We just… B. Balaam would be the correct answer. I was thinking B, too. You know the story of Balaam's donkey? Balaam's donkey? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Thank you, children's Bible. And Balaam said to the donkey, because you have made a fool of me, I wish I had a sword in my hand, and then I would kill you. Dude, I really wish I had a children's Bible right now. We only get to read the illustrated ones, because Grace doesn't want to read the ones without pictures. I'm totally cool with that. I'm going to sneak them in. I act like the non-illustrated ones are part of the illustrated ones' story, and we read two a night. Tricky. This man is known for being meek, or humble. A. Moses. B. Gideon. C. Nimrod. Or D. Cain. I was really hoping you were going to throw Jesus in there. I'm going to shoo in.
He's humble or he's weak? Gideon. Meek. Meek. Oh, meek. Gideon. Meek and humble. We got two votes for Gideon, Daniel. Gideon. That's three votes for Gideon. What? Say you. I as will chose Gideon, and I was incorrect. It's Moses. Moses. Now the man Moses was very meek, more than all the people who were on the face of the earth. That's what I was thinking when you said that last time. Moses. Numbers 12, 3. I hate words. He wears a leather girl. And he's bald. This man is known for being short. Go ahead, Mike. Zacchaeus. A. Nehemiah. B. Joseph.
C. Zacchaeus. D. Joel. I think I know who Zacchaeus is, and I'm going to agree with Zacchaeus. Zacchaeus was a wee little man, and a wee little man was he. No one needs to know that. I'm not in a sycamore tree. 17. Answer is Zacchaeus. Zacchaeus. Uh, let's see here. Three more to go. You're listening to Wiley Characters of the Bible and Live from the Path, Intern or Burn. Question 18. Intern is currently winning. This man is known for being fat. Can we make guesses right off the bat? No. Sure. Okay, no, go ahead. A. Eglon. B. Aaron. C. Judas. D. Obed.
Intern guess. Troy. Obed. Intern says Obed. What? Say you. I'm going with the Eglon. Cat says Obed. Oh, maybe that is it. I cannot. I'm going with fat Obed. Yep. Obed. Yep. The answer is, I said Obed as well. It is Eglon. As well was incorrect. It's Eglon. Eglon. Yeah. He had Eglon on his face. Whatever. You shifted off Eglon. No, that was my real answer. Come on. Yeah. This man ate grass for many years. I think I know this one. Who is it?
Troy, go ahead. John the Baptist. Go ahead with the choices. I don't know. Shishak. Nibuzereddin. Rabshikun. Rab-Rabshika. And Nibikanezer. I was wrong. Okay. The baptizer ate bugs and honey. Okay. He smoked a little grass, but it was a whole different thing. I'm going with the end guy. Don't refer to the baptizer as a grass eater. There's Nibuzereddin and Nibikanezer. Nibikanezer. I already lost. Dance on it. I'm going with Nibikanezer. That was my guess before you said it. Definitely not. It really was. Answer is, from the book of Daniel, Nibikanezer. In what circumstances was he eating grass? I believe he was entrapped in a cave, was he not? No, he was… Pride and haughty as the king of Babylon.
He's saying, look what I have built. And the guy said, oh yeah? And he… Well, let's see if this is the verse. Turned him into a lion. He kind of. He was driven among men, ate grass like an ox. His body was wet with the dew of heaven. His hair grew as long as eagle's feathers. His nails were like bird's claws. And it was like 20 years or something. You gave a sermon on this. That's quite possible. In the last couple, three years. It's quite possible. Oh, let's see. Number 20. I'm fine. I've been here. Number 20. Which of the following was known for being left-handed? Oh, boy. A, David. B, Ehud. C, Elisha. Or D, Micah. Enter, Danielle. I'm going with Ehud. Ehud, Troy?
I go Micah. David. Second shot at Micah. Mike says David. David. The answer is… Left-handed Ehud. Yeah! In your face. Come on, that's David. Haven't you seen the bookmarks? What? What? As for me and David, we'll use this bookmark, Lefty's Rule. No. You haven't seen those? No. Yeah, you should. All right. I missed one. What do you got, Mike? How did you do? Did you keep a legitimate score? Uh-uh. Oh. Excuse me, I missed two. I missed two. No, wait. I missed three.
I can tell you in the order it happened. There were three. It was me, then Danielle, and then Troy. That's not true. It was me, and then Troy, and then Mike. Obviously not. I'm totally cool with being in last place. Mike was at least second. Wait, did no one keep a legitimate score? I was going… Okay, I thought you were, and then I was… Oh, that's disappointing. All right. Well… Oh. So we don't know who to give the prize to. You… Wait, there was a prize? You've been listening to Intern or Bird on Live from the Path. Hey, enjoy the following clip. This is the youth from an artist we had on last week. His name is Echo. Make sure to check him out on Facebook. Enjoy that you're listening to Echo on Live from the Path. By Echo on Live from the Path. What I do, what it is. Bad truth, bad truth, bad truth. Living love, I know, with you. Your new lyrics rock, and with this cold winter, gotta bring heat to thaw.
Even in the summer, we ain't gonna stop. We'll take it to the beaches, our flavors sweet like peaches. Call us this all of the earth. Our creepers of a child's birth, lighting up your taste buds. Showing you a peep, girl. Something greater than life, cause it takes you higher than a buzz. Be living longer than light years. Tell stalker man not to fear. A life with living has always been here. So I tell my youth, calling out from the booth. To stand up and step out. Let them know what we're about. Don't be ashamed to bring the truth. Yeah, I see your doubt. Look at the proof, there's a battle every day. Do not let darkness have its way. So affirm on what I say. Youth, it's time to rise up today. Don't let them look down on you, just cause you don't know what they do. Calling on my youth, let's move. What I do, I move. Bad truth, bad truth, bad truth. Living love, with you. Inside of you, you're dying to know the truth. You think life is chasing guys, chicks, rice, chips. Anything that'll give you lift, like an immature you biff. See life is truly a gift. Though you are given passions, you're consumed in your distractions. What a waste, like copy and paste.
I live by words I can never replace. But can you surrender to something better? I know life is rough, but will pain be enough? Do you wanna deny love? I know you're not dumb, so stop wasting your life. On temporary pleasure, on what you think is better. Thinking you got it together, but deceit to love the dresser. I'm sure you've already met her, ready to open your heart. Just let it go is the start. I'm not talking about the past, but you knew that wouldn't last. Those relationships, the strict, the intimate loss of innocence. Left you in distress, then they left. But now you knew, it's time to begin. What I do, it's bad truth, I know. I know it's tempting, but you've learned your lesson. You're free of past, the pressure. You don't live by baggage, you have a new carrier. Who lives with a passion, who freed you from bondage. We call that a chain reaction, that's a bit smack. Tell your past to sit back, they tell you you're too young. Put down the mic, you're done. Stop dancing or passing or hitting that practice. You're just not good enough, hard to ever feel love. But this could change, not talking about money. There still will be pain, ain't perfect glass but bunny. But you're human, not a practice dummy. So stop selling short, don't say mission aboard. I'll be by your side, not alone against the night. Cause we're together in this fight.
Stay through whatever on the grind. Time to fly, so above or go high. Feeling alive with a new life. I'm calling all the youth tonight. Time to fly out of the sky. Let's go. Time to fly. What are those lyrics? You're listening to Life in the Path. Hey, thanks for hanging out. That was Echo. You can find him on the Facebook. If you wanna. If you wanna. Mike, you like that rap music? Ah! They make me feel not cool. It's cause you're not. Yeah. That's painful. Good. Here's the thing. I'm not, see that's the thing, I don't even know what a thing is. That's how cool I am. People say hip stuff and they do beats and whatever and I just go, I don't know. That one sticks with me. That youth has been sticking in my head. It's the what it is. Yeah, what it is.
What it is. Yeah. There you go. You're listening to Life in the Path. Hold on, I thought I was gonna ask one more. I was gonna try to get one still close to the, we seem to be really stinking in this Bible brain workout. We're gonna have to work on it. Here we go. So, where do we find the earliest example of a riddle? In the Bible, where do we find the earliest example of a riddle? It'd be in Judges with Solomon and the whole, out of the, out of the. The split in the kid? With the lion, the honey and the lion. Judges 14, 12 through 18 is where the answer can be found. Yeah. Out of the lion, something to eat. Out of the something, something sweet or something. How does that go? Isn't it the Garden of Eden? That's kind of what I was thinking. Yeah. Tree of Wisdom? What is it, Judges 14, what? Judges 14, 12 through 18. Let me tell you a riddle, Samson said to them. If you can give me the answer within the seven days of the feast, I will give you 30 linen garments and 30 sets of clothes. If you can't tell me the answer, you must give me 30 linen garments and 30 sets of clothes.
Tell us your riddle, they said. Let's hear it. He replied. Do you want to hear it? We gotta hear the riddle. He replied. Out of the eater, something sweet. Out of the eater, something to eat. Out of the strong, something sweet. What is the answer? That is it. It doesn't say what the answer is? Oh, it does say it around. Yeah, because it was a lion that had died. There was a carcass and there were bees inside it making honey. That's what he had seen when he did the riddle. Oh. And if they got it, he was going to do something cool or something. What kind of crazy man was that? He was trying to fool him. He was trying to give him 30 pieces of linen and 30 things of clothing. Who? He wanted to get married. Who would guess bees nest in Dead Lion? Exactly. That's not a riddle. It's a riddle. That's outrageous. Yeah.
Did you ever watch the Batman? I was thinking that was popular then. I was totally, I'm sorry, this is so pagan, but I was thinking of the Sphinx's riddle. I'm sorry, this is so pagan. I know this is life in the past, but I got something pagan to add. It's like a t-shirt dude that's so pagan. So pagan. No, I was thinking about the Sphinx and the riddle. The Sphinx and the riddle, you know. Yeah. I walk on four legs in the morning and two legs in the afternoon and three legs at night. It's man. It crawls as a baby in the beginning of its life. It walks on two legs as a man. But that's not true, though. It doesn't do it in the morning and night, like you're saying. Morning, afternoon, and night is representation of your life in the day. That's not really a riddle. It's kind of a lie, really. I don't really like it. It sounds pagan. It is pagan. Dude, it's from Greek. Dude, that's so pagan. It's a Sphinx saying it. You can even take a picture of me for that t-shirt. That's modern day Hebrew, not old school Hebrew. No pagan allowed. I'm sorry, that was the only thing that popped in my head.
Who tried to kill his son at dinner? His son. I kind of remember that. At the dinner table? Yeah. I didn't really say it was at the table. 1 Samuel 20, 33. It was Samson's daddy. Get a job. Cut your hair. I'm out of here, dad. My daddy. He tried to kill his son. Was that Saul with Jonathan? 1 Samuel 20, 33. Okay. He was always trying to off-board Jonathan. He's going after David. I mean, but I don't remember. Well, but him and Jonathan and David were in cahoots. Yeah, they were good best friends. Is that… Yeah, Saul. JC says Saul. But Saul hurled his spear at him to kill him. Then Jonathan knew that his father intended to kill David. Right. That would have been an awkward moment. Wait.
Yeah. Dad missed trying to kill Jonathan. His son. And it affirmed to him that he was also trying to kill David. This was when David was on the lam. Remember the story when David ends up sleeping in a cave and Saul goes in to relieve himself? And why he's relieving himself? He has a bowel movement. Yeah. Saul… You're looking lost. David tries to cut a piece of his cloth off to prove that he could have killed him while he was in a precarious position of leaving the present. Yeah? Yeah? It just reminded me of him. What about it? It reminded me of him. Just because you wanted to talk about bowel movements? Ever since that time, I kind of sneak around bathrooms and kind of cut little shirt corners off of people. Dude, I was wondering what happened to all my pants. Yeah. I kind of… Underneath, I go… That is so insanely creepy. It was that noise that did it. It's not as sneaky when you sound like a gang of Smurfs taking pant legs on people. I wonder who's giggling.
I always check behind shower curtains for that reason. Exactly. What's back there? A laughing down? Go back three spaces. If I ever hear that noise. Be worried. Mike, what's happening in Leviticus this week? Anything? Oh, man. I don't know. I read it after my car thing from last week. You know, you read through it. Like, the tail end of Leviticus is basically old school laws, the way that the Lord's setting up behavior. And you start reading them and you realize how much that you don't do any of them. And how some of them will make a lot of sense. Like, that year of Jubilee, that's genius. And it's done to prevent widespread poverty. And what I was really interested in is to see exactly where it veered off. Like, you could see Israel, you know, got on board with the Lord and then they kind of gave it up. Got on board, gave it up. The Lord punished them, whatever. You know, all this stuff back and forth. And the year of Jubilee was set up on the seventh year. Everything returns back to its original landowner, correct? Wasn't it 50? Every 50th year, excuse me.
What was the every seven-year thing? That was the release to slaves. That was a seven-year itch. It was a whole different thing. So, in the 50th year, you go back to what your family owned. So, like, you sold your, if you got into the straits, like, I don't know, 25 years into it and you had to sell your farm, 25 years later, your family would get the farm back, basically. Would get your land back. Yeah, it's to protect your family heritage. Right. And so, it was set up to present widespread poverty, right? So, one guy can make a bad decision, but not necessarily drag down his entire family because of his poor choices. And look how many people that would have affected today if we stuck with it, you know? I think that would have been a pretty slick operation. Yeah. I called my car dealership the other day and said, hey, you know, I'm done. It's the year of Jubilee and they came and took it. I wonder how many, like, business owners of Jewish heritage really get tired of people saying that. They don't think that's very funny at all. Oh, it's very funny. Ha, ha, ha, ha. Hey, actually, that does remind me of a question. Why do modern day people of the Jewish faith not continue to follow the Old Testament law? Like, I don't follow it because Jesus fulfilled the law, but if they don't acknowledge that Jesus is who he says he is, why do they not continue to do that? Some do.
I mean, there's some people still doing it, like sacrificing a temple instead? Well, there's no sacrificing because the temple, you know, is under Muslim control. I mean, there's no temple. The temple ground is under Muslim control right now in Jerusalem. And you can't just build a random temple somewhere and just start doing sacrifices. You have to have the original blue heifer ash that they used to keep. It was from the beginning that they took, like, a little bit of ash from the original fire and they kept it aside so when they started anew and they had that ash they put in. So there's some continual thing. But that's been gone for centuries. Why can't they do another mobile temple like was in the Exodus? Yeah. Some kind of mobile business. Yeah. Cloth and ringlets and all that stuff. They have to, I mean, some people geek out over, you know, they're waiting for somebody to find an archaeological dig of the blue heifer. And then they'll think something that's the sign of the return of the Messiah. And, you know, there's just a lot of people geek out on this stuff. And I don't know. So how are they, I'm interested. I guess maybe I don't know enough about the modern-day Jewish religion. But, like, how do they, if they're not sacrificing at the temple, I mean, how are they not screwed? It seems like you're screwed, isn't it? It seems that way. I mean, yeah. I don't understand it. I don't either. This is the questions.
Man. Good questions. Mike, what do you think? What are your thoughts? We don't have that skeet-goat, that annual skeet-goat to take the center. And it's asal. Yeah. We need some more information. Help. Is that hail? I think it's rain, at least. Man. I'm hearing them through my headphones. That's going to make, this is going to sound a little rant if you can hear it raining in our radio show. You ever listen to, like, a legitimate radio program and heard the rain outside? I hear that on WHO all the time. It's normal. It's a sound effect. Gotcha. Anyway, you're listening to Live from the Path. Awkward silence. You can catch us every Monday night on livefromthepath.org, broadcasting from 10 to midnight. If you want to hook up with us during the week, you can go to livefromthepath.org, and you can watch archived shows. You can listen and sign up for the podcast. You can also sign up for the newsletter. And get some Live from the Path gear. Troy Engeldinger, I put a shirt out there for you.
Did you? Yeah. What shirt did you put out there for? I don't remember. I put one out there. Anyway, you can get Live from the Path gear. By following the Live from the Path LFTP gear link on the front of the website. And you can check that out. That's beautiful. Hey, and a heads up. We probably have a busy month coming up here because the Spirit Midwest Music Festival is coming up. This is the first weekend in August. Two days. Tons of bands. I think three stages. Maybe four stages. And the lineup is just topping out pretty quickly. So if you go to spiritmidwest.com, you can see the current lineup of folks that are going to be there. I'm not sure they have time. Is Vance Lambert playing this year? Yeah, Vance coming back. Hey, it's his birthday today. Yeah. Let's sing happy birthday to him. He probably is about watching. I bet he is. Vance?
I'm heard from him. No. No, it didn't happen. We could do a… Hold on. Anyway, so yeah, he'll be back. A lot of the folks that you've seen on Live from the Path will be there. So make sure to check that out. That's spiritmidwest.com. And you can… I don't think they have the calendar up yet as far as when exactly folks are playing, but they will be… The bands that are going to be there are sitting out on the website, so you can go check that out. Make sure you clear your calendar. We'll be there. Broadcasting. Live. Well, I think. We'll see if we can pull that deal off. So is the plan. Yeah. Yeah, that's still the plan. I tell you what. Just in honor of the birthday of Vance Lambert, who has been on the show before and will be at the Spirit Midwest Music Festival coming up here in August, we're going to let you listen to just a little bit of him. This is his parody of Lady Gaga's Just Dance. This is Vance Lambert with Just Vance on Live from the Path.
Feel free to talk amongst yourselves. Just a moment. We're having some technical difficulties. It seems the rain is causing us problems. How are you guys doing? Everybody doing all right? It's about time to give up. If you're tired, now's the time to go to bed. There's another 22 minutes of the show left, but you know what? Go to sleep. I don't know. This is going to take a while. Oh, Vance is kind of creeping me out if I leave him up there like that. Yeah, no kidding. Isn't it weird you out? He's too close to me. He reminds me of Jehu. Yehud. Who was the guy with the hair? In what context is Jehu? Like, where's he from in the Bible? Jehu, isn't that the husband of Jezebel? Wasn't she wicked? Yeah, she was bad. Okay, let me get on here. He's a bad driver. And she's wicked. Seems like they're having a rough go of it at their place. Jehu.
Jehu. I'm thinking, I'd say somebody else. It's a wonder Paranormal won't come on our program. Maybe he's checking it out tonight. You know what, friends? I made a good choice. I'm not going on that. I didn't see that email. Was it really like, you guys are idiots? No, he politely declined. He's a good guy. Like, I know him. His sermons are nice. He seems real nice on stage. So we extended an invitation to Pastor Perry Noble to come on to the show and share his thoughts on, what was it, Mike? Witnessing. On witnessing. He has a passion. He politely declined to not come on the show. Yeah, he speaks to like, I don't know how many, 10,000 a weekend or something. I asked him when I wrote him if he thought it was akin to like a casino circuit trip for an aging band. I would totally understand. His reply was from his assistant lady. She said, unfortunately, he's going to have to decline at this time. Who are you? I replied back and said, well, it would have been great if he could have made it on, but it's much funnier as a testament to our lower end operation that he couldn't make it.
So that's excellent. I said, we appreciate what you're doing for the Lord and we wish you the best. That's it. There was another guy. This guy wrote a pretty cool, I read an article about the authors of the New Testament. There's a guy named, it's either Bart or Bert Erwin, who writes some pretty critical stuff about the authenticity of the New Testament and the authorship of it. And this guy put together a pretty good rebuttal about where it came from and the validity of the content and stuff. So I invited him on the show because I thought it was interesting to talk about. He's not coming on either. He said no or he didn't respond? No, he just casually ignored it. I think it was a good move on his part. Anyway, please enjoy Just Vance by Vance Lambert on Live from the Path. That's like butter. That was Just Vance on Live from the Path. He did that SNL thing you tried to do last week, the butter thing. Did you try to say that last week? Yeah. Barbara says about it's coffee talk. See? Oh, I didn't recognize it when Dan did. See, Dan smiled at it. Me and Ben both went, what? I was just thinking, like, I can't believe how often I refer to Saturday Night Live skits and, like, I see it maybe three times a year. Over the course of my life, that's my average. I mean, it's not like I'm a Saturday Night Live, Night, Life, Life.
You love the night life? Is that what you're trying to say? I love the night life. It's not like a Saturday Night Live freak, although I love the political skits, because they make fun of both sides pretty well, but they're pretty funny, generally. But I don't know. Older stuff is good. It's just amazing how many times I refer to things. I need more cowbell. Oh, gosh. Christopher Walken, that was amazing. Hey, man. The ladies are making fun of our live coverage at the Spirit Midwest Festival. Whatever. Why? They're mocking it. Here's the deal. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Joel Consent on this thing. Just like SportsCenter, we can stand behind them and jump up and down with skins? With signs. I think that'd be cool. I think that we should make signs for them. I haven't seen SportsCenter in a while. They didn't used to do that. It used to be a clean operation. Anyway. It's more like that today show.
We need to talk about this. What we're going to do out of this. Yeah, we need to get some jackets. Oh, yeah. We got to make a trip to Goodwill. And we're going to do a fireplace. We need a fireplace. I have a fire pit. I got it from Trash Day. We can borrow. We have to ask Jarrah. We need a stage and some loungers. You mean like a recliner-like lounger? No. No, they have to be interviewing seats. Yeah. Like the throne that they have on the show? Actually, we need lights and jazz and probably a giant television. What? Yeah. It's going to look like a professional set. We'll get a projector. We'll just get a… We'll bring the projector. I mean, we're going to go ahead at Mad Style. Yeah. In fact, we might need to take a couple weeks off of the show in preparation for it. Maybe a month. We should have taken this one.
This would have been a good choice. Bulligan. Bulligan. Bulligan. Do over. How are you going to power all this? I don't know. I am an electrician. Look at it. They're ganging up. They didn't think of this power. I'm a DJ, which means that I have like 900 extension cords. Mike, that's what they think of you. They think Mike's an electrician. They have no idea how to power this ring. Are you kidding me? This is what I do for a living. You think I didn't think of it at all? You know, here's… You can't just sprout a power box from thin air. She can. Now, listen here. An electrician doesn't equal power from above. Oh, man. You're really in trouble. I have mobile spider boxes that supply like 350 amp feeds. It's done. Don't worry about it. I have discovered it.
Now, Joe Conn does ask the more legitimate point, which is who is going to watch it? I do not know that. It could be nobody. It could be us. Later. Here's what I'm going to do. I'm recording it. We're going to archive 48 hours worth of footage. Hey, we should camp there. We should totally camp there. It's the same thing I have for camp. We've got to do RVTV, like Channel 13. What day is it again? Like, what day of the week is it going to be on? It's a Friday night and a Saturday. The 6th and 7th. Friday and a Saturday. What time are you guys planning on leaving Friday night? Yeah, we haven't got that far, man. We're putting broads on the road. Are you trying to figure out if you're going to be in or not? Well, I'm in. Just show up when you're done, then. Okay, because I… What's whatever you're doing? I know. I've got to work. I got it. Just show up when you're done working.
It's fine. Hey, are we going to camp there anyway? Ask Troy. Troy, can you make it? I'm down. But let's not sleep in the designated areas. I saw a little pop-up camper for sale. Where did we see that? I don't remember. Because remember I said, oh, there's a pop-up camper for sale. It's a pop-up. It's a pop-up. I want to sleep on the stage, though, and leave the cameras on. With some night vision. Just us sleeping. You want to sleep? This is going to be like the Eagles. It's going to get a different crowd, but it's going to work. No, we're going to be up all night causing a ruckus so no one else can sleep. That's right. We'll be partying. Just like in the Olympics. Whenever we should have gone to bed, we'll recap what happened throughout the night through the loudspeakers. We can do that. We can record stuff and we'll do a recap and we'll wake some of the bands up. Hey, Radiance Effect. Get up, man. You're on it, too.
We need a makeup person, but totally unskilled. Someone who has no expertise in it at all. Just ruse or something. I know somebody. I know a few people. Here we go. Someone has a point. We can bring a tabernacle and we can start the sacrifices up. We can borrow a tent from Satan on Sunday. It'll be a tabernacle. Yeah. We can't build a tabernacle. Did you say that the Muslims have it? Isn't that what you said? Well, they have the ground where the temple was. It's holy ground there. No, it's not. Would it be wrong to build a tabernacle in your backyard? Oh, wait. So here was my question. You remember in Exodus it describes, God describes this perfume that they make. Yeah. That no one else is supposed to make? Yeah. Is that like gone now? Can we make it? Because I really want to smell it. Because it gives the ingredients. I thought about that, too.
Wouldn't that be cool? What? Maybe that's what they do like in Christian school science classes or something. That's what they make. This Christian chemistry is making that perfume. Maybe. I'm just guessing. I've always wondered that. You know what happens after you make that perfume? Dudes come up to you and say, you have a gorgeous wife. I feel strangely drawn to her. You don't want that kind of problem. I like to call her Esther. It's creepy. I don't know why they do it when you're not married, but they do it. It's like, dude, I'm like six. Obviously not having a wife here. Your wife is wonderful. Can I borrow your leather girdle? How about that really, really cool colored coat? My hair suit. People in the Bible are weird. Oh, sorry, Esau. That story is funny, right? Because how hairy do you have to be that you can put on an animal skin? And your dad thinks, oh, there's my hairy son Esau. That's disgusting. That's bad. Dude.
That a boy. And here's Esau. Come on, boy. Roll over. Bigfoot is the modern day Esau. Lay down. Mama leaves a rug. Esau is still with us. He's Bigfoot. Come Sasquatch. I mean Esau. We've got to broadcast into the wee hours for no reason. I'm down. You could search for Bigfoot. Maybe that's when we should broadcast anyway. We'll hold like the after party. We'll have like live snipe hunting. Yeah. Do that. Take a band on a snipe hunt that has never heard of it. What is it? I don't know what a snipe hunt is. Seriously? We can take them on a snipe hunt. Do you guys not know what snipe hunts are? Let's see. It's fun. I use snipe in a derogatory term. Like it's a derogatory.
What? I'm trying to say something mean about somebody. Look at that snipe. That's how I would use it. Is that what you're looking for? Mean people. Sir, are you rude? You're saying that person. Well, snipe is a real thing. Yeah, that person is. I go hunt for them all the time. What is it? Is it a bird? Is it an animal in general? I don't even know. It's like a type of bird. Okay, so there is. Is it not real? I have not found one. So snipe hunting is something you. Okay, here we go. Let's say you're a boy scout. Go ahead. A snipe is a group of birds? Yeah, so here's the deal. A snipe is any of about 25 waiting bird species in three genera in the family Scolopodacea. They are characterized by a very long slender bill and cryptic plumage. Plumage. The Galanago snipes have a nearly worldwide distribution.
The Limnos cryptus jack snipe is restricted to Asia. He's not even allowed out of Asia. You got in trouble. It's very strict. The three species of painted snipe are not closely related to the typical snipes and are placed in their own family, the Rastratidulia. So you go hunting for groups of birds? You get a pillowcase and you go out snipe hunting. It's actually really fun. A pillowcase? It says the difficulties involved in hunting snipe gave rise to the term sniper, referring to a skilled anti-personnel military sharpshooter. That's intense. I still have yet to figure out what exactly snipe hunting is. You guys have danced around it and told me. Dave, have you caught snipe while you've been out? Who's a dorky? What do you mean? I've never even heard of this. Neither have I. None of you guys did like Boy Scouts? Boy Scouts. I did Cub Scouts. I did like the soapbox derby. The camping. It sounds like some kind of weird thing that they get you involved in in your fraternity. It sounds creepy. And then steal all your clothes and make you leg back to the house. It sounds like the way you said you've never seen one, it really made me think that it's just something to do when there's nothing to do. You're just like, hey, let's go snipe hunting. I'm just saying I cannot personally describe one.
Let's go hunting it. Have you ever caught one, Dan? No. Have you ever seen one? I haven't caught one. Check out that hairy dude link from Stacy. I've also never caught a trout. That doesn't mean trout don't exist, Troy. Oh, that didn't work. He said he's never seen. One. I've never seen a trout. A live trout. You've never seen a live trout? I do bullheads. I don't have fancy gear. I just have a worm. Oh, my gosh. You're talking to me like I'm an experienced fisherman. Yeah. And me as well. He doesn't look hairy. Hold on. I'm going to see if I can find him. Who are we looking for? That guy doesn't look all that hairy. That guy does not look hairy at all. Is that Esau? Hold on.
Hold on. There he is. Well, I mean, he might be. Is he? Who is that? It's on his back. It looks like Colin Powell is what it looks like. A white Colin Powell. Yeah, I was going to say. You guys are definitely Caucasian. I don't make distinctions like that, Mike. There's a noticeable difference. There's a big noticeable difference. Hey, man, my daughter made me a Father's Day card, and I was certainly an African American in this picture. Like, I was colored in with a dark face. Why? I don't know. She was, too. She had black hair and a dark face. I have the cutest four-and-a-half-year-old blonde girl, pasty white face for a daughter, and I'm a pretty white fella myself, and we were two of darker-toned individuals in this picture. That's funny. I'm not sure what to do about it. Okay, so my wife sees this picture, and she's, I'm out of the house on Saturday. Okay, she, my daughter makes me this card. My wife takes a picture of it and posts it on Facebook and says, here's what Emma made Ben for Father's Day. Yeah, I saw it prior to when she gave it to me because somebody posted it on Facebook. Well, you're going to see it anyway. I don't know. That's an amateur move.
An amateur move. Did you just call your wife an amateur? No. Like a Facebook amateur? Is that what you're saying? I'm just saying, if someone were to do it, it would be an amateur move. Oh, here it is. Not mine, though. Look at that. You haven't? You can't. You are definitely African-American. Why don't you pull up that picture? Okay, let me see if I can find it. It's not funny. I've never heard of it. As a matter of fact, yeah. That's what I say, your wife is hot. Not cool. Not cool, man. There it is. I'm not, I'm the guy. She looks like Esther. I'm the one with the big hand. My wife. Take a strong hand. My daughter is the one I'm holding hands with. And then the, uh-oh. What was that?
My wife is calling. You can answer it. I'm not. You can stay at my house if you'd like. We'll be sniping later. That could not have gone worse. Was that, was that your wife, the small person in the background? Did she just delete the picture? No, that's my, uh, that's my other daughter. My wife is not in the picture. Oh, okay. That does not look like my daughter at all. That's kind of awkward saying your daughter's hot then. It's gone poorly, Dan. It's getting worse. Oh, my gosh. Stop. Okay, Dan. She has a little crown. I figured that's the queen. Queen Esther. Oh, disaster. Mulligan. Jesus. By the way, Mulligan. I'm making a rule right now. Don't look at my Facebook. I don't want to see my pictures on the radio show. And he's going to do it.
I knew it. How do you spell Spangenhammer? Don't even try and spell my last name. Don't. Just stop. You're listening to Live from the Path. Thank you. Hey, your wife just befriended me. Oh, I, I'm pretty sure I'm in some trouble. You called her an amateur. Do not call your wife an amateur. Woman, there's only, no one's watching. No, no. To be fair, apples to apples. We just described how we're going to rock the Spirit of the West Music Festival. I'm pretty sure it's obvious who the amateurs are around here. We didn't even think of power requirements. Hey, you said you got that, Mr. Electrician. We're not, we're not even using that much power. How much do you think we're going to use? I'm not against this. Why are you on the woman's side? I'm not. Troy. You just, come on. You called us amateurs. Who? You. Called who an amateur?
The people that are planning the Spirit Midwest Festival thing. No, I didn't. Yeah, we, four. Troy, are you with us or against us? I said three times already. Yes. Oh, what was that thing? Well, don't, and I want to be, is, okay, don't defile me on the radio service. I'm not defiling on the radio service. We're friends. We're friends. I know we're friends. What I'm saying is, though, you were saying, you're calling, your wife, you're kind of bailing out on me. Oh, yeah. I'm totally bailing out. You're Balaam. I'm not Balaam. Hey, actually. You're Jehu. No. Get away from me when we're on the way home. You should have said, I am Balaam, and I'm talking to a donkey. That's what you should have said. I am Balaam, and I'm talking to a donkey. Good one. Jehu. Hey, I'm still trying to get down these names. I've read 60 chapters since we've been sitting here.
No, that's not true. That's good. Oh. Mike, don't give me that look. No, you're making my stomach hurt. You're like a virus. Didn't you just call me your friend like a minute ago? Our friend is a virus. I love a virus. I've made a lot of mistakes in my life. Mulligan. Well. Has that Mulligan the last six years? Have you read the chat lately, Ben? Ben. Hold on. It appears you're. What? Oh, yeah. Answer the phone. Tornado warnings. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Go into the basement, woman. I want to answer the phone next time. That's not even funny. Wow. I'm broadcasting. I'm in the middle of a live broadcast. Do you know who I am?
There's six people. I will not be interrupted. Oh, my. This place is built like a tank. We're in a good place for tornadoes. This is the place to be. Yeah. Well, in the basement. In the basement, yeah. We'll drive out here. Come out here to the studio. Put the kids in the car. God. Don't let Jehu drive you home now. Actually, I have the only vehicle. We can't put the kids in the white van. There's no seats in it. We'll broadcast live from the basement. Yeah. Anyway, you've been. Hey, here's the deal. You've been listening live from the bath. Thanks for being with us tonight. It's one minute to midnight. It sounds like there's some foul weather out there. Yeah. You best take shelter. No reason to hang out and listen to the show. This is not the last thing you want in your head before you're on the outs.
Before you meet Jesus. I'm looking. Make sure you get to the most center part of your room. That's all I have. What? Is that supposed to be it? Jump in the bathtub. It's a central part of the house. Get as many walls between you as you can. Stay away from glass. Do they still recommend that? Getting in the tub? Probably. No. I don't think they do. Why not? Well, because most of the feeds nowadays for both plumbing, especially plumbing is not hard pipe anymore. It's free-flowing plastic, so there's nothing to hold you in there. That ain't right. It's dead on. All right. Unfortunately, you've been listening to life in the past. We'll see you next week. See ya. Have a good week.
