Segments
- Show open from the Pathway cafe; the failed October 21 rapture date 0:29–7:07
Produced intro names the on-air crew — Ben Foost, Mike Foost, Dan Hudson — plus special guests Pants Whetstone and Troy Spookenhauser. Ben Foost introduces the show from the Pathway Church cafe: the studio was handed to the church's 24-7 prayer room, so the broadcast runs from the cafe with the video feed compromised. He previews the night — the prayer room, whether everything is 'God's plan,' a survey claiming Bible reading makes people more liberal, an Alabama town offering 'Jesus or jail,' and Dear LFTP advice — and notes the world did not end on Harold Camping's October 21 date. The God's-plan question and the Bible survey are teased here but never returned to.
- The 24-7 prayer room concept and the creepy 'Holy, holy, holy' throne room 7:08–13:29
A host explains the prayer room: for two weeks, around the clock, members sign up for hour-long shifts, writing prayers on paper-lined walls, reading the Bible, or praying before a cross. This year's addition is a 'throne room' evoking Isaiah 6 and Revelation — a raised throne with flowing robes, scripture, and music — and the hosts confess they couldn't lift their eyes in it and felt they had to back out rather than turn their backs. They roast the room's audio-Bible soundtrack, whose flat-voiced readers intone 'Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty' instead of the jubilant thousands-upon-thousands of angels Revelation describes.
- Prayer styles: long stretches, booklets, loud music, and listening 13:29–32:01
Pants Whetstone, interviewed about his prayer-room hours, says he enjoyed the throne room and spent five or six hours with Engeldinger, watching a Mark Driscoll sermon on marriage and men and talking it through. Dan Hudson's last-minute idea — small booklets for writing down prayer reminders — gets praised, and Dan describes his own sessions: time in the throne room, then mostly sitting, listening, and asking God what he wants. Ben Foost describes cranking worship music loud and pacing, writing first as a 'cleanse,' and argues prayer shouldn't be only face-on-the-ground submission since God made people to go out and interact with others.
- Relationship over checklist faith; emptying self and the Holy Spirit's direction 32:01–46:43
Dan swaps into the prayer room while Mike comes out and reports a short, unfocused half hour — he wasted it hunting the song catalog for the perfect praise song — and admits wanting to sit on the throne-room chair, an urge the others shut down. Mike talks about shifting from a battle-oriented to a servant-oriented posture, and the conversation deepens into relationship versus checklist faith: a host compares rule-based religion to a marriage run on checklists, and the group agrees prayer must include listening, emptying oneself, and letting the Holy Spirit fill and direct daily life. They close on recognizing God at work rather than dismissing it as coincidence, and on not forcing righteousness.
- Troy Spookenhauser joins; the throne-chair debate and cafe banter 46:44–51:49
Troy Spookenhauser joins the show after work and gives his prayer-room impressions, quoting Francis Chan on a renewed 'hunger for God.' The throne-room debate continues — Mike admits the first thing he told Pants was wanting to sit in the big chair, and the others explain why nobody's backside belongs on the symbolic throne of God. Banter about the cafe's purple decor, big windows, and fake trees, plus an expected visit from Mr. Dudenhofer, closes the block before the news segment.
- Operation Restore Our Community: Alabama's 'Jesus or jail' offer 51:49–1:05:34
The hosts read a news item: under Bay Minette, Alabama's 'Operation Restore Our Community,' judges let misdemeanor offenders choose jail, a fine, or weekly church attendance for a year, with pastor-and-police check-ins and dismissal on completion, saving the $75-a-day cost of housing inmates. Troy compares it to the Crusades' forced religion; the others push back hard that a voluntary alternative to jail is nothing like taking Jerusalem by the sword. They then wrestle with the receiving church's side — whether offenders should be quietly monitored, whether 'all sin is equal' (one host argues Old Testament punishments were clearly graded) — and land on discreet leadership awareness rather than public announcements, closing with a Shawshank Redemption nod.
- Station business; worship posture: raised hands, clapping, jumping jacks 1:05:36–1:12:35
After a station break promoting prayer-room signups and a prayer-room link for the chat, the show runs a stretch without Ben at the helm. Troy thanks Pants on air for helping bring him back to church, then the group compares notes on physical worship expression: raised hands, clapping, standing, even aisle cartwheels and jumping jacks. Most admit their church backgrounds make raised hands feel awkward, but they've grown comfortable doing whatever they're compelled to do — while agreeing nobody should raise a hand just because the person next to them did.
- Mike's Wednesday-night church visit and the end-times lady 1:12:35–1:16:43
Mike tells a story from his week out of town: at a Wednesday-night Bible study walking through the book 'The Story,' he sat next to a woman who warned him the Lord's army would advance the next week — from China, from Florida, and via the Vietnamese from the California side — with earthquakes and the dead rising. He played along politely, concluded she was the congregation's lone end-times enthusiast, and the timing — days after Harold Camping's failed October 21 prediction — gives the hosts a springboard into how the deceived stay deceived because deception demands nothing of them.
- Christ's return, Gethsemane, and how much deity Jesus set aside 1:16:43–1:29:32
Riffing on the end-times lady, the hosts imagine Christ's return — one pictures an eight-story horse, then unpacks the symbolism: kings rode horses as conquerors, while Jesus entered Jerusalem on a donkey as a humble man. Troy asks about Gethsemane — whether Jesus' anguish was fear of the cross or of becoming sin — and the group agrees it was becoming sin and separation from the Father, citing Lee Strobel's 'The Case for Christ.' They debate how much deity Christ set aside (one argues he chose not to use it; another that he still knew men's thoughts), and reject the 'poor Jesus' framing: the crucified Christ is the same conquering king who knowingly took the beating.
- Persecution, heaven, hell, and the heaven-bucks wedding guest 1:29:32–1:40:24
The conversation turns to persecution — Christians being killed and raped in Egypt and other Muslim-majority countries — and whether the hosts would go if called, concluding God calls people where they are and 'forcing righteousness' is telling God what to do. They trade simple truths: Satan didn't create hell; God made heaven and hell and puts Satan there; nobody parties with friends in hell. A host shares the wedding analogy from a sermon: heaven is God's wedding, and trying to pay '$20 at the door' misses the point — echoed by Francis Chan's 'Crazy Love' question of whether you'd accept a Jesus-less heaven. The block dissolves into the 'heaven bucks' Book-of-Life bit, with joke aliases for Engeldinger (Roust and Hammer, Buford, Spankel Linger).
- Dear LFTP: a mother fears overreacting about her husband's touch on their preteen daughter 1:40:25–1:48:19
The hosts read a Dear LFTP letter from a mother whose preteen daughter Avery told her that her father smacked her bottom and played with her jeans' back pockets, saying she's 'his baby girl' — while the mother, herself abused as a teen, fears overreacting. The room lands on a clear line: whatever a daughter feels is inappropriate is inappropriate; positive touch like hugs stays, and the wife must talk to her husband without accusing. They read the 'secular' answer aloud — trust her gut, tell Avery no one may touch her unwillingly, and insist on professional counseling if he resists — and agree, while flagging the letter's aside about the couple's weak sex life as something to be mindful of but not to weaponize.
- Dear LFTP: the unemployed, depressed alumnus resenting successful peers 1:48:19–1:54:25
The second Dear LFTP letter comes from a prestigious-college graduate, 35 years out, with no job, debt, depression, and phobias, resentful that the alumni magazine only publishes successful peers and that Facebook friends are doing well. The hosts roast the writer's victim posture — 'John' becomes the stand-in for everyone-has-it-better entitlement — while conceding times are genuinely tough. The secular advice noted that others share the feeling, which the hosts read as a window into the Occupy movement's victim mindset.
- Dear LFTP: the chronically borrowing neighbor; is punching someone for Jesus ever OK? 1:54:25–2:03:21
The third Dear LFTP letter complains about a frugal non-working neighbor who constantly borrows — most recently socks for her daughter's dance recital — and asks whether to confront her or just refuse future requests. The hosts split between 'keep handing it over' and calling the absent husband, then spiral into a long comedic debate: is it ever acceptable to punch someone in the face for Jesus? Citing the temple tables and Ananias and Sapphira, they land where one host started — only if the Holy Spirit genuinely says so; until then, talk to the guy, don't hit him. The show closes the bit by inviting sock donations.
- Outro: station links and Troy hums the close 2:03:21–2:04:19
A host admits he can't fire up the outro music, so Troy hums the close — a 'Wild World' refrain — while the others plug the YouTube channel, thepathonline.org, and the podcast download for next Monday. They sign off with one host joking he'll see them 'if I don't have a restraining order against me.'

You've tuned in to the Live from the Path Radio Show, starring Ben Foost, Mike Foost, Dan Hudson, special guests, Pants Whetstone, and Troy Spookenhauser. You've been listening to Live from the Path. So we're short the proper technology to pull off the show correctly tonight, fellas. Pants, how do you feel about that? Pants, you've got to get right up in that thing, man. If that means no video, I'm good with that. Okay, yeah, that's what it means. No, no, no, no. We can still see you. Well, kind of. Pants, your head is cut off. There we go. There we go. We're kind of in a dark cave. It is a little bit dark in here. I kind of like it. Yeah. It gets a little vibe to it. Do I look better now? Oh, yeah. It kind of gives us our coffee shop feel. Yeah, you look fantastic. Anyway, you're listening to Live from the Path. My name is Ben Foost. Thanks for joining us tonight. Boy, it is a special night from Live from the Path. We've got a bunch of stuff going on for starters. We're broadcasting.
If you're checking out the show for the first time, then this is not a surprise to you. But if you've seen the show before, we are in some new digs that we are in the midst of a 24-7 prayer room here at Pathway Church. And as part of that, we had to abdicate our studio over to the prayer action. And so we are in the cafe at the Pathway compound in the midst of the Pathway studio. So we're hanging out in the cafe area. It's comfy in here. There's fake foliage in the corner. I feel there should be someone in the corner, the other corner, with an acoustic guitar just kind of singing a few songs. That'd give the place the vibe that it needs. We've got a guitar. I think the acoustic's in the prayer room. I've got one in my office. Hey, Ben, do you have your harmonica? You can just sit there and play. That would be good. We could make some coffee, right? A little coffee pot right next to it. Well, there you go. Anyway, all right. So, Pats, think about that. Put the thing on it. So we're in the midst of a 24-7 prayer room. I don't know. I've got some prayer thoughts. But maybe, Dan, I'll get your initial reaction. You're an old hat at the prayer rooms.
And I do have some questions for you about maybe if they're different. So think on that. So I'll ask you about that. Other stuff we've got going on. So we're going to be talking about that 24-7 prayer room. And also, there is a – something that always comes up when we're talking about prayer. And I feel like we've talked about this before maybe, but it's God's plan. Like we hear a lot. It's like, you know, something happens. It's like, oh, well, okay, that was God's plan. So the real question for the night is, is that true? Is it really God's plan? Is there a master God plan that we are following and hitting or – You mean like little things? I'm driving down the road. A raccoon jumps out. You go under a ditch. Oh, that was God's plan. Or big things like Gaddafi just got shot in the head. Yeah, I would say either one. I would say – maybe that's my question. I don't know. I don't know. No, because you tend to get it in response to a giant something happened. And it tends to be bad. People tend to say, well, it's a bad thing happened because God wanted the bad thing to happen.
Because God's an angry God. Yes. And he loves causing pain and torture. Yes. So we're going to have to get that straight now because I think there is some truth to it. I just don't know that it is maybe the way that we think about it. And I think perhaps we come to the wrong conclusion. How will we know? What is that? Is it? Oh, it's pants running water for the coffee. We're not used to being out into the coffee world. We're out in the world. We can't even shut ourselves away. And we're missing Mike at the moment. Mike is – so we are actually responsible for the couple hours that we're on the air for the prayer room. And so Mike is in there hanging out in the – for the prayer room for a while. And you'll see kind of us – The pants cam? Okay. Oh, there's the pants cam. And he's reaching for the 7th grade. Let's zoom in on the pants cam. There he is. He's reaching for the Dunkin' Donuts coffee. Oh, there's – put the filter.
He's got the filter in his left hand. It is oversized for the coffee pop, but it looks like he's managing quite well. I wouldn't make a good play-by-play guy like on the radio for sports. I will work on it. Yeah, he's run really fast. I missed three moves there. Yeah, yeah. Very good pants. Okay, so in addition to prayer room stuff, we're also going to talk about – there was a survey out this – from October that says the more you read the Bible, the more liberal you become. And so we're going to – I would disagree with that. We're going to see about that, man. Oh, yeah. I'm assuming just by what you said. Perhaps you will hardly agree. I would think politically you'd become more conservative. We'll see about it. But also, there's a town in Alabama that is offering Jesus or jail. So we're going to learn just a little bit about that. Also, we're going to give some advice on dear life in the path. People are teeming. There is just – a week has gone by, and people cannot control themselves. They need some help from life in the path. I saw people with signs out in our front yard earlier looking for advice. Begging for advice. We are the 1% that need advice.
I don't know what you're talking about. Oh, also, in case you hadn't heard, so we missed the deadline. We talked about this just a little bit last week. The world did not end. This was the final point, right? The May 21st was the date we're supposed to. It didn't happen. They said, well, that was the precursor. It was supposed to be done October 21st, and we missed it again. Has he spoken since? No. I haven't looked into it at all. And that is my greatest disappointment is I don't like it. Like, if you're going to be wrong, part of the fun of you being wrong is you having to do something about it. Yeah. To, like, either apologize or explain why you don't think you were wrong or refuse to admit that you're wrong. Either of those things is enjoyable to me. Yeah. But I don't like it when you're dead wrong and then you just fall off the face of the earth. Oh, nobody will notice. Yeah. If I don't say anything about it, no one will notice. I checked the website, too, because a lot of this was sponsored by that family radio. So I went to familyradio.com. I've been checking it every day for the last three days, waiting for them to say, oh, by the way, here's an explanation of how we could scare people into doing, you know, selling all their goods and driving around the country in buses.
Maybe they're all gone. Maybe they are. Maybe they were right and we were wrong. Although they have updated. Well, no, this was supposed to be the annihilation point. This was supposed to be the point of which. Oh, everybody's gone. Everybody was gone. Yeah. And that didn't happen. Kind of the planet of the apes. Yeah. Deal. Apes remain. So anyway, we're still alive. Love on that. All right. So let's talk about. So I think most of you that are listening are probably familiar with our 24-7 prayer room. But the concept is, is that for 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for at least two weeks, we have a dedicated prayer room in which someone is in there at least. They sign up for an hour or more. And the next person comes in and relieves them. And during that time, they are praying. And that prayer can be expressed in multiple ways. Either, you know, it could be face on your knees, monk style.
Or you can be doing, you can write your prayers, share your prayers with others by writing on the walls. The walls are lined with white paper that you can share that stuff. You can spend time reading the Bible. There's a cross in there, so you can kind of, you know, be in the presence of that. There's also, this year, a special to this year's prayer room is the throne room, which is a very poor representation of the God's throne. But it's the best a human might be able to come up with. But I've heard some pretty good reviews. I have, too. I have, too. And it's, so it's got kind of this throne that's up high, kind of giving you, there's a picture in Isaiah, 6th chapter of Isaiah, also in the book of Revelation, that gives you this kind of this throne up high and the robes that are flowing out. And so it's kind of got these robes that are flowing in there. And there's some scripture going and some music behind it. It's a pretty cool, here's the weird thing. So I went in there, and I was kind of kneeling before the throne and stuff. And then, like, I could not bring my eyes up. I couldn't bring, because, like, when I was thinking, you know, if I was in the throne room with God, I just couldn't. And then I started to turn around to go do something else, and I thought, I just turned my back on the Lord. Like, I felt like doing the old, you know, crawl, head down, face forward. I'm like, well, I shouldn't be alive. I don't understand what happened. There is the, I'm going to say, I had the same thing.
I went in there, and I'm like, yeah, go ahead and read in the walls, because it's just got that little red light. It's got the black paper with the white print on it. It's kind of cool. So you're doing that. And, of course, I went in, the prayer room had only been going a couple hours. So not much to read. Just kind of reading the little stuff, going through, and just kind of passed through, passed the throne. And I just ignored the throne. I ignored the symbol of God's throne. And I'm just, wow. You're really something else, man. I looked at the throne. What am I doing? And I couldn't lift my head the whole time I was in that room. I want to go back through and really think about this, but I can't do it. I just had to get down, sit down, just unworthless. The chat's review of the throne room is that it's creepy. I have also heard that, especially if you don't know what's going on, and we've had some females in there alone, and suddenly they hear a creepy guy's voice from the other room. Holy, holy, holy. Here's the deal. It's the Lord God Almighty. So I think in concept this was a good idea.
Yeah. And it's that you would be in the throne room, and then you would be hearing the angels echoing. And this is from Isaiah 6, where it's saying, Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty. And then there would be some scripture going through, and maybe God talking, just to give you the presence of God. And so we have this audio Bible, and I went to pull some scripture out, and boy, some of the actors in there just aren't doing what I wanted it done. It doesn't sound as grand as, I'm in heaven before God. It's kind of like, oh, what's the text say? Holy, holy, holy. Yeah, these guys are straight up creepy. Like, when you think, the revelation picture is that you have this throne, and then like thousands of thousands and tens upon ten thousands of angels saying, Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty reverent and awesome. And they're in awe, and they're just like overwhelmed with the presence of God. And they got these creepy, I mean, this is probably like four old geezers in a room going, Holy, holy, holy. And they like duplicate them a couple times. Yeah. And cheesy, it's kind of cheesy editing, I think. It's a little creepy. Yeah. But then I thought about, well, yeah, I suppose if I were there, I'd be a little freaked out. So it's probably right. It's a little creepy.
You just have to put yourself back into, okay, this is like a man-made thing with no budget. Yeah. Okay, we're pretending we're in the throne room of God. I'm going to worship. I'm tempted to see if I can find a better presentation and swap that out. Yeah. Again, it's the whole concept of prayer room. If you're in the right frame of mind, I mean, you could be praying in a broom closet, and it wouldn't matter. Right. And so it's kind of getting past that. But however, I will admit that it is creepy. We should have Spangenhauser read it tonight, and we'll just use that recording. That's a good idea. We can all read it. Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty who was and is and is to come. Yeah. That's the biggest problem for me is that they're so unexcited. Yeah. Like, I've got to think of these hosts of angels. You're in the presence of God, and you're back and forth. You're saying, holy, holy, holy. They're saying it together, and they're excited. And these guys, like, they just got off of three gallons of Robitussin. They don't sound good. And, you know, you hear sometimes people say, man, is that all you're going to do in heaven
is walk around and say, holy, that sounds really boring, you know? And having never been there, you know, it's hard to know what to respond. Right. But you read Revelation and go, these are people who have been there for millennia. I mean, the angels, you know, and then there's the saints there as well. They've never gotten tired of it. Right. You know, they're still rocking it. We get tired waiting for our wives to try on two shirts in the changing room at the mall, and we're thinking, really, this for eternity? Yeah. And they've, like, been there for hundreds of thousands of years as far as I mean. We don't know how many years, but they're still in awe. Right. That makes me go, it's going to be all right. It will be fine. It'll be fine. I've got to assume that if you make it, everything will just kind of fall in. Like, you're not going to be the guy. The Bible doesn't really niche out a situation in which, like, you're up there, and then, like, there's a guy that's a troublemaker. Yeah. Yeah. I've got to assume everything's fine once you get there. You won't be like, man, we sang this song yesterday. We're going to do it again?
Seriously. How many holies do you need? Where's days of Elijah? Come on. Oh, man. So, all right. So, Pants, tell me a little bit about you. You spent quite a bit of time in the prayer room. What are your thoughts so far? Like, A, you know, first reactions, and B, maybe compared to other experience you've had in the prayer room, any differences or things that are the same? I'm going to say, despite how much we were kind of given the mix and motions on the throne room, basically, I enjoyed that because, not to put down the people that helped with the last prayer room, last prayer room we had a holier-than-thou. The holy holies? Yeah. I love the holy holies. I thought that was pretty cool. You watch your mouth, Pants. Be careful. Tread carefully. This is just my opinion. Okay. Okay. That had a lot of good reviews. Yeah.
It kind of looked like a shower from a campground. All right. Well, I might. It was low budget. I might grant that. With that, you had a chair, and… Pants, you weren't supposed to take your clothes off when you got on there. Oh, Pants. Now, my pastor told me, in the prayer room, you can do whatever. What goes on in the prayer room stays in the prayer room. That's why you turn the volume up on the music and go at it. But it's just a little chair, a white curtain around. Now, outside that, it's stated, okay, this is the holy of holies. Tread as such. And do that. And that it is, it was a nice little thing to go and sit and feel closer with setting your mind to that. But this time through, with that room, the throne room, I got a lot out of that. And then I also, I, when I went, was there, I don't know, what was it, five, six hours? Yep. With Engeldinger. We went together, because, just kind of, instead of trading off, did that. And we were able to, with the, everything that you could do in the prayer room, converse, do our prayers. Because, I got on the computer with the, Mark Driscoll, watched one of his sermons, the marriage and men thing. And then, we were able to talk about that. And then, go through. And since it was, program just starred, not that much on the wall.
But, it also, I enjoy that, too, because you've got time to read every little bit that's there. Right. And get that. So far, I've liked it. Yeah, there's, there is something to be said for, and I don't, I'm not just saying this because I tend to do that. But, like, for some of those long stretches, being able to just, just settle in and kind of walk slow. And, like, I find that, if I'm in there for an hour, I tend to skim some of the stuff that's on the wall. Either I'm looking for my name or something funny. Like, well, it's not about me. It's not a joke. Nah. But, like, I know his handwriting. But, when you have, like, two or three hours, I mean, you've got time to kind of look and, like, and really think about what someone's, what's on someone's heart when they're writing something like that. Because it's easy to, where someone says, hey, man, my uncle's in the hospital or whatever. Okay, I'll pray for that guy. But, like, I mean, that's, you know, you may or not actually be putting any effort into prayer for your uncles in the hospital. You're just kind of checking around. Okay, I got that. I prayed for that guy. Like, that's, I would do that. And I think it's a good habit to talk to God in ways like that. But, like, there's something about actually, like, thinking about where people are at. You know, how people are feeling, what they're thinking about. Because think about what they wrote compared to what they're, what's probably in their mind. You know, they whittled that down to something. Yeah.
And actually reading, and I had this experience last night where I was reading something, and it was, there's a, somebody that's a senior. I don't know if they didn't put their name on it, but I, you can infer kind of what they wrote. Like, they're going to head off to college and, like, help me to be a, a stance for truth with my friends and stay strong in what I believe and not get kind of misled and brought down this path. I thought, you know what? That is awesome. That's, yeah. That is, that is awesome. And then I thought, okay, I agree with that and I can pray for that now. But I thought, you know, I want to pray for that tomorrow and the next day and the next day after that. And, and it's one of those things that, that you think that doesn't, doesn't cross my mind because I don't live in that, I don't live in that world anymore. I'm 10 years out of the world of which, you know, a kind of a domineering education culture can, you get a group of people and 10 people agree and the two guys are the freaky Jesus guys in the corner. And it's hard to be the freaky Jesus guy, you know, truth or otherwise, it's still hard to be that guy. And to be back in that and really put yourself in that perspective and think, you know what? I can, I can honestly pray for that guy and I know where he's coming from and that's a tough deal. And I can, you can feel that in the things that they write. So I don't know, like two hours or even more than one just gives you some space to really invest in some of the things that people are, people are writing. Have you noticed, I really haven't yet, I noticed a theme that, that kind of comes every year. It seems every time we do this, it's twice a year. Every time we do this, there's some kind of overall theme. Like you can tell sometimes like there's pain or there's, or there's worship or there's, there's something going on. And I haven't, of course, usually it's about day three when it starts really kind of mushrooming and it'll be the next couple, three days, things will, will start rising.
Rising, we only started Friday night, so, you know, it hasn't been enough time maybe. I haven't noticed it though. I don't know if you guys have. Yeah, I haven't yet. Yeah. There's some, like say general things here and there about different, different, different things on people's minds and that kind of stuff. Although something else new this time that I really like, I, I really didn't mess around with it that first time through, but think about it now, I know you've posted a lot about it, this time there's little booklets that you can grab beforehand or grab and write in them after you did your hour, however long, that you can just, it's a blank little booklet that you can just write in to remind you of things like that. Yep. That, that, I, thinking about it more so now, I'm like, yeah, that, I, I look forward to using that this time through. Yeah. I think those are a great idea. Yeah. A capital Dan item. Very impressed. Very good, Dan. It was literally a last, I mean, I don't, I don't even, it just popped in my head as everything was done. We're like, well, I guess we're done. I thought, I'm going to make these little books. I have no idea where it even came from. I've got all this loose paper. Yeah. I need to get rid of this. Actually, it was good, clean, unused paper, but I figured, you know, it's worth it.
I'm like, that's good quality paper. This can't be Dan. Dan, are you known for low grade paper? Yeah. What are you saying? What a bummer. Low rent Dan. I'm thinking Dan did this for somebody like me. He knows I don't deserve this nice paper. I mean, the crinkled up stuff in the trash, that's for me. That's Pants. That's for Pants. I get everyone's seconds. All right. Well, you're listening to Live from the Path. We are broadcasting live from the Pathway 24-7 prayer room. Special guest, Pants Whetstone, is in the studio with us. Mike is in the prayer room currently right now. We've got to swap him out here in about 10 minutes, and we will do so. We do expect to see Mr. Dudenhofer coming in here within the next half an hour or so, and then me and Dan are hanging out. So, Dan, how about you so far? Experience in the prayer room? I've been in there with my small group. I've been in there maybe, I've been in the LTG. I think I've been in there twice alone.
So, I haven't been in there enough yet to really say I've got some certain thing going. I've spent a little time doing a little bit of everything. Yep. I'll spend a little time each time in the throne room, maybe even two or three times. I'll go in there during my hour, you know, just to try to get the feel for it. And it hasn't, like, hit me yet. But each time I'm a little more like, okay, you look past the obvious, like, oh, these are curtains, you know. Curtains in the DJ lighting. That's like a DJ light. That's no rainbow. That's no sea of glass. And you kind of just get the feel of it. And, I mean, there was one time, you know, I did. I just got on my hands and knees, you know, like bowed before for a while. I was like, this is God. That's probably what I would do, you know. And then I was kind of like, I could feel all the blood going on my head. I thought, okay, I could probably sit on this little bench over here. And I did that. So, yeah, it seems like the longer these go, the more often we do these. I spend more time sitting and just contemplating, you know, God. I don't write near. I used to write a bunch of stuff down. I'll write something here or there. But I can go two or three times and not write anything. Now, I'll just sit there and maybe I'll have a couple songs that just kind of help assist me in worship.
Or I'll play a little guitar. But a lot of times I'm sitting there just kind of listening. Say, okay, God, what do you want? What do you want from me? You know, and kind of a reaffirmation of I'm yours. You know, I'm yours. Anything, whatever you want. Yep. And listening. Cool. Yeah. All right. I would say, I don't know, I've done a lot more. Well, I've been in there quite a bit early. So, I've been trying to kind of add stuff on the walls to help. But I'm a total music guy. I'm a total, like, crank it up and go nutty with it. And there's actually, I have another friendly tip, but I'm going to wait on it. But it's all centered around, like, finding a particular piece of music that expresses things better than I would or in a more melodic way than I can. Sure. And then being able to just kind of hijack it into my own prayer. But there's, you know, I've had that with, there's a kind of a praise tune where it's just like, I don't, I'm an awful singer. But if I turn it up loud enough, I can sing loud and no one will know. So, and it feels like I'm creating a lot of noise for the Lord. And so, you know, I spend a lot of time listening to music very loudly. And I have my eyes closed and I'm standing and I'm just kind of pacing the room.
Because I feel like there's a, there's a submission to prayer at points, like the throne room and stuff. And I usually write when I first get in there, it's kind of like a cleanse to say, like, I don't know what I'm bringing in here, but help me to get rid of it. Yeah. And then, and then I can move. And then after that, like, I think we, it's not wrong, but I think you could almost miss it if you, if all your time in prayer is spent with your face on the ground. Because, like, I, there's, I mean, God is not, not suck all your energy. I mean, he is the provider. You know what I'm saying? So, like, I, after I kind of, kind of do a dump of whatever it is that I drug in there with me, from there on, I just, you know, I spend a lot of time just like, you know, thanks, thank you, thank you, thank you. And then I got, then I got time with, like, I'm, I'm open to whatever, help me with whatever. And I'm just kind of walking around and thinking and contemplating and, and just being open to whatever God might have for me. Because, I mean, again, I, I think there's, there's certainly nothing wrong with, with, with being dismissive. But, like, you know, we're here for a purpose. I have a, you know, you have something going for you on earth for a reason. And, and, and, and a lot of that is going out and interacting with people. And it's tough to interact with somebody if your face is in the corner, you know, and if that's all you're focusing on, right? Like, he, he didn't give us grace so that you can spend every second of your day, you know, repenting for something that he's forgiven you for. So, yeah, you know, so, so I don't know, I feel like I'm doing that a lot and it's especially, especially energizing really early in the morning. It's, it's, it's, it's the, it's the naughty time to be in the prayer room. No, you're not supposed to be up. People aren't up listening to loud music and praying at two in the morning. But that's what we're doing and that's awesome. And it's hard to go to sleep afterwards. It is. It's very difficult to go to sleep. Yeah, I mean, I, each time, because I take those late night, early mornings, gotta have the coffee.
And get in there and then I'm done. I don't need any coffee. You can't go to sleep at all. You're just up and ready to start the day. I used to have to drive around a while first before I even tried to go home. You know, just kind of like. You're going to get pulled over in Johnston, Dan. You can't be scooping the loop in Johnston at two in the morning. Well, yeah. Yeah, I'll go down and it's a big loop. But, yeah. Looking for deer. There's always, I usually stop at this quick trip over here on the way out. And there's always three or four cops kind of hanging out there. Sponsored by. Can't get a decent sponsor. You're listening live from the path. Again, we are broadcasting from the 24-7 prayer room. Again, quick renewal of the concept. We spend a dedicated two weeks, 24 hours a day, seven days a week in prayer as a church. And so you sign up for an hour. You're in there. Someone comes and relieves you. They pray for an hour and you pass the thing off and it's two weeks. And, you know, the whole point is a commitment as a church to be to prayer. You know, I think it's foundational to be talking to God.
I don't know how you can live a life for God without interacting with him at all. I mean, if you're not talking, you're probably not listening. And that means you're probably walking in the wrong direction. Yeah, there's no relationship there if you're not involved and engaged in it. You know, and this is part of relationship building, really. That's the hardest part for me. One of the things that I, and I've been here, so don't take this the wrong way. But, like, one of the hardest things I find is it's very, very difficult to live a life, to do what God wants, to follow Christ, and do it in a nonchalant manner. And do it in a way where you're trying to follow rules or you're saying, okay, I read X chapters in the Bible today or I prayed in the way that they told me to when I was five. I mean, that is draining. It is a sapping way. It's as if you're trying to, think of it from a dating perspective, if you're trying to date a woman or you have a wife and, like, all you're doing is checking off stuff. You know, I'm supposed to get up. We're supposed to have breakfast together. Check. I'm supposed to say I love you. I love you. Peck on the cheek. Okay. I can do one on the lips but only on Tuesdays. You know what I'm saying? Like, that is draining. It sucks.
It's a crappy relationship. And I think that when I see, when I meet people that are struggling with God, and a lot of times struggling with even the belief in God, they're trying to do something and they don't know anything except for the motion. And it's very difficult to get excited and to try to live fully for, you know, something that you're just not invested in. And I see that in people and I feel so bad because they feel like they're trying. You know, I'm trying to be a good person. I'm trying to be a religious person, a moral person. But, like, you know, you're always missing something. And it stinks to miss something and you feel like you're really trying hard. And then you get disgruntled with God or what you now think maybe is the lack of God or whatever. You know, because it's not producing anything that's worth, you know, who wants to be a part of that? What kind of relationship is that where you're checking off rules? And that's, you know, Jesus came to make clear that's exactly the opposite of what we're talking about. But, like, you know, some people are, like, struggling under the weight of a false God that's looking for a checklist. And it's, you know, it's tough to get out of that mindset and really blossom into something that could be a, you know, that's something worth being a part of, you know. So I don't know. The prayer room, something like this, emphasizes that. No one, you know, no one comes out here and spends an hour, you know, walking around and praying and writing and reading the Bible, you know, simply for a checklist. That's not worth it. It's not worth coming out here two in the morning to do that. Yeah.
That stinks. I'll sleep. Yeah. So. I'm going to say, I know in all the previous prayer rooms, I, before I had my slot, my hour to go in, I'm like, okay, I have to get my checklist, make my checklist up, pray for Dan, pray for Ben, pray for my mom and dad, all these people. And that way I can go in and I'll read stuff on the walls and, hey God, punch over this, this, and this. Okay, I'm good. I don't know. And I just, last few months I realized, you know what, I don't need to do that. God knows what's on my, the thoughts and everything. I just need to essentially shut up, just clear my head and listen. And that I think a lot of people have a problem with. I just be quiet. And. It's really hard. Yeah. Because, because it's, you know, you don't know what you're listening for. Yeah. And, because I think a lot of people nowadays, they don't want to feel weak and surrender. Yeah. But, I think the best way to hear from them is to just stop using your brain. Stop trying to think what God's going to do. Listen, he'll tell you. You know, and.
And just submit. And that sounds completely foreign to, to, to, to, if you're missing the relationship part, right, that part sounds quacky. It just plain does, right? Like, oh, God, big God in heaven. Just listen for him. Just listen and he'll, he'll tell you things in your little mind. Whisper in your ear, this is the Lord. Bring me a soda. You know, like, it's, it's, without the, if you're, if that's a rules thing, that's quacky. If it's a relationship thing, you know, of course you listen to your spouse. Of course you listen to the, you know, the people that you're friends with. Of course, you know, you can, you learn to hear those people. And, you know, it's, is it likely to be the, you know, knock on the head? Hey, Dan, this is the Lord Jesus Christ. Here's what I want you to do. Eh. It happens. I'm not sure it's happening all that often. Yeah, yeah. But, but, but, you know, can you, can you recognize things? Can you start to think of things that are not yourself and start to recognize those, those actions? And, and yes, yes, yes. That is completely true. That does happen.
But, but, but it's a relationship thing. Cause like, if you don't know God, you, you don't recognize his voice. Right. Um, all right. Hey, we got to swap out. Mike, Mike needs out of the prayer room. Who's going? Me too. All right. Dan's out. I'm out. All right. Uh, we were listening to live from the path. You can catch us every Monday night from 10 to midnight, sometimes from 10 to 11. If the show's going to stink, we'll cut it down to an hour tonight. I think it's going to be a classic. We're running the full two hours. Um, we're broadcasting from the 24 seven prayer room here at pathway church. Um, Dan is swapping out. Mike, he's got a half an hour in the prayer room. Mike is coming out. We're going to see how his, uh, his half an hour went, uh, pants. I think maybe I'll take the next one. Run the station over here. I'm going to say we don't know what to do. Yeah.
Yeah. And then, and then you can, you can, you can march the show out, hanging out in the prayer room. Uh, a couple of things coming up on the show. We're going to talk about, um, the question is, is everything really God's plan? Uh, you hear that a lot. Um, sometimes I think we make the mistake of saying something like that, um, to cover something where we could otherwise be learning. Um, you know, something bad has happened and we'll say, oh, well, it's God's plan that that happened, but maybe we screwed up, you know, maybe we suck. That's very possible that we stink. Something bad happened and we should be learning a lesson, but instead we want to attribute that to God's plan. Um, you know, just something to think of. So we're going to talk about that and see if we can figure out what's God's plan, what isn't God's plan and whether, how we would know the difference. Um, we're also going to talk about, there's a, uh, jail or church. Uh, there's an option in Alabama. The judge is enforcing this as, uh, uh, you know, you can either go to jail or you need to go to church. And we're going to, we're gonna take a look at that and see if that makes sense. And the question is, do you want a bunch of prisoners in your church pants? I mean, children are here. I, you know, why not have church in jail? Well, so, so people do that, but this option is, is that you, uh, you have the option of either going to jail or you have to, you have to go to church.
You have to check in with the, with the priest minister dude that's there, have him sign up, uh, admit that you're there anyway. Something to think about. I, I, I, I, I more think, I mean, of course you want guys, guys have a struggle. He wants to go to the Lord. Absolutely. You want it in. Right. But the question is, uh, you got a bunch of prisoners in your church. It seems like that might be problematic, although I think it's on a nonviolent offense. So we'll talk about that. We're also going to be giving some advice. Um, we're going to do a, uh, deer live from the past. People are teaming for answers and we want to help out. Uh, Hey Mike. Yeah. How was your prayer room time? Uh, it was a little short, a little short. Um, uh, I don't know. So I, uh, I didn't plan a very good route this time. Usually when I, I could, when I sign up for a couple hours, I get a pretty decent route. I did not plan a good route this time. I wasted all my time searching through the song catalog, looking for the perfect song to really praise to. What did you end up at? Well, I could tell.
I don't know what's happened. Like someone has fooled with the media archives at the path website and added a bunch of songs that are pretty okay, but not really the one that I was looking for. So the ones, the ones that I was used to aren't there. Well, yeah, yeah. Yeah. There's two. So I, I, someone's, I think is, uh, mixed it up. There's a couple actions in there. Oh, I'll fix it. Okay. I can. Anyway, I helped. Yeah. Anyway. So, and I spent the, I spent the last 10 minutes in the throne room. Here's where I'm at on that throne room. So I, I, I did happen to catch the creepy, holy, holy, holy guys. Yeah. Uh, which was, I, which is not as bad this time around, but I really want to sit on the chair. You can't sit on the Lord's throne, Mike. I know. When they first set it up, I thought I'm not mature enough to go in that room. I, I'm going to start in that chair. So, so, so.
I really want to. Right. If you haven't been there, there's, it's a throne room, right? And it's, there's a chair set up. Like, it's supposed to be like a big throne. Yep. Uh, for, for, for, for, you know, you're supposed to, it's supposed to be a symbol. It's a symbolize, you know, God, this is God's throne and, and, uh, reverence and whatnot. And I, I just, I walk in there. I'm like, it's a chair that's high off, off the ground. I want to sit in it. Cause that's always been kind of my deal. Like, I always tend to like stand on rocks. I always tend to stand on top. Uh, like, I don't know. It's just kind of my thing. Like, I, I always end up standing on top of a ledge somewhere. I did not know that was your thing. It really is. I like to stand on stuff. I, I seriously do. Ask my wife. Like, I just, if we stand anywhere for more than a couple seconds, you know, give me about a minute and I will like inevitably gotten higher than everybody else for some reason. I like, I'll stand on top of a rock or a ledge or on top, I'll sit on top of a car. I will do just about whatever it takes so my head is higher than everyone else's head.
And it's just subconscious. I don't know why I do it. So this throne thing is like, like it's taken every urge of me to not go sit, sit on this chair on top of a table. It's very exciting. Your wife has agreed. I'm just, I'm telling you, I didn't realize this was a deal with myself, but it really is. I like, I like to stand on things. I don't know why, but anyway, it was, it was fairly cool. It was fairly cool. We're good. The throne room is a lesson to you to stay off the Lord's throne. I didn't sit on it. I'm telling you, I did not do that. Like, like I want it. All right. Well, good. Uh, I don't know. Any other, any other general, that's not your first time. You've been in there before. Yes. Uh, any other, uh, general stuff in the prayer room so far? Uh, yeah, I, I, I don't know. Uh, I've had an overall different experience than I normally have. Uh, usually like to go through and, and, uh, really read a bunch of stuff and not so much
this time. Like I'm just, uh, I don't know. I feel like maybe it's a, I got me and Jesus stuff to do, uh, this time around and not so much. It's like, I like to pray for other people, but, um, uh, uh, you know, sometimes I feel like I'm getting too much in other people's business. Uh, and really I just, uh, you know, I pray for, I, I pray for the Lord to show me what he's doing. You know, I've, I've been reading a lot of stuff lately and, uh, I've been trying to change my perspective to a little less battle oriented and a little more servant oriented, a little more, a little more, uh, cause we always say, you know, pray and move, pray and, pray and move, pray and move. But really like if you look at biblical examples of way that, that God really used, like it's a daily thing. He never told you jack squat. No, that's true. You know what I'm saying? He just told you enough to get you to move. And then he told you more when you got there. Uh, and so I still believe that, that it's, it's, it's not a sit and wait type operation, but, um, I don't know, I, I, I feel like, like I'm missing a certain relationship with God that I, I'd like to have back or I'd like to gain that I've, that I've not had. And so I, I've been really praying on that. And so it's, it's been, I don't know, it's, it's humbling. We'll put it that way. Yeah, I would agree.
I think I've, I've had a lot of that experience, uh, uh, so far too, is just, just trying to, uh, to, to straighten out, to straighten out where you're at or where, where am I at? What do you, what do you got going on? Am I listening to the right thing? Am I following the right thing? Am I doing the right thing? Well, and you know what the, the, the cool part is, is that you don't see this until you meet somebody that is absolutely in love with Jesus and you look in their eyes and you're like, I don't love Jesus like that. Why? Why don't I like, and, and Dan had a really good sermon this Sunday. It was about, uh, the, the love past the knowledge. And, uh, I, when I listen to the sermon, I'm like, I rock the knowledge. I get the knowledge. Like, it makes perfect sense to me. You couldn't convince me with any type of scientific fact that God, God has love and God's God, uh, you know, and, and Jesus is the savior and I am junk. You, you couldn't convince me otherwise, but I will tell you that, uh, the love part I lack, I lack cause I never trust God enough to give it to him. And so I, he's working, he's working on me, uh, for that. And, uh, and it's, it's a lot of me, uh, getting rid of a lot of my preconceived notions about what my relationship is going to be. Like I thought that my relationship growing with Christ was going to be, uh, it's over by the time it's 30. Then me and God are figured out and we're just going to sail the rest of this lifetime and I'm going to get so much done and it's going to be fantastic.
And then I kind of realized that, uh, all those plans were me writing the plans and, uh, boy, once again, I've just junked him up some fears. And so, uh, it, it takes a lot to say, you know, and not say, God, I, I, I want your will for my life, but, uh, uh, just what's your will in general. Let me see what you're doing. And I want to do that. Yeah. Yeah. You know, one of the things that, um, and this is, I don't know, this could be either effective or cheesy depending on who you are. Um, but, uh, kind of the practice of when, when I, when I get up, yeah, I, um, you know, like exhale, like empty of myself, right. And then breathe in deep, um, and kind of imagine that, you know, I am, I am full, uh, of the Holy spirit and I'm permitting that to be, to use me in whatever way necessary that it wants to that day. And it's, um, the emptying of yourself is, is kind of the thought that's difficult. It's the thought that like, I, I am getting willing to get rid of me completely and allow you to take this thing over and do whatever you want to do with it and let my mind be yours and my heart be yours and my body be yours. Right. Now see that, and, and I've always had a struggle with this and we had, I'd struggle with this when, when Dan was talking about this a couple of weeks ago, a couple of months ago, actually. So Dan said, Dan made a statement one time and he goes, yeah, I mean, uh, uh, you know, I don't, I don't, I probably go a couple of days without sinning. I'm like, whatever, no one goes a couple of days without sinning. You know, that's ridiculous.
Everyone sins every day. Everyone is garbage. And then like I thought it came down to a basic thought that I didn't believe that God has something for me to do every day. You know what I'm saying? Like I thought God just shows up when God shows up and when I pray something, he'll answer about it. And, uh, but I never thought like every day there's something that, that God has something for me to do. And the truth of it is, is that if you ask him every day and you get rid of you every day, God's, God's always working. Like what's the, what's the verse? Uh, he's, he's working. He's still working. It's in John. Anyway, it's, it's Jesus talking about, talking about the father and he says, the father only shows, uh, or the father shows the son what he does. And then he asked the Holy spirit to teach him how to do everything. And, uh, I don't like those verses just really applied to me the last couple of three days. I'm mostly, cause that's just when I read them. Uh, but, uh, but I don't, it just made me realize that I just, I just, I'm so stupid. I'm just so dumb. You know, like I always think that I got this whole thing figured out. I'm like, okay, me and God are like this. And then I'm, and then I read verses like that. And I'm like, I am so dumb.
That is not the way it is. Wait a minute. That was an either or. Or, Oh, Oh no, I, you know, I, I think a lot of this tends to come back to, um, a, a misunderstanding or a lack of understanding in, in the Holy spirit. Right. I think, I think the majority of your people who, who otherwise feel like they're strong Christians, but tend to miss a lot of this, um, relationship stuff, the love, uh, the love stuff, the direct my life, like really take the thing over. Or I think it, it, it, we can get on board with the father in heaven. We can understand that. I think we can fully understand the role of a, of a, of a son that comes and dies for our sins and reconciles us to the father. But when it comes to, you know, moving away from things that have happened, um, or stories that you have read historical things in the Bible and moving to a living Holy spirit inside of you, directing your life, um, you know, directing your path, setting, setting you in the, doing, doing things, doing things for you. Um, you know, that's the toughest one because it is, it is right now. It is everything right now. It's not just a, do I love God? Okay. Yes, I do. Do I believe that Christ existed? Yes, I do. That's not what it is. It's, it's a, you know, does my life reflect that there is a living Trinitarian God inside
my body rolling around and doing his business? Right. And that's the thing is like, is, and your, your, your first reaction to God moving and shaking in your life is to deny it and is to consequence it and to put it in some kind of logical thinking where you're like, that kind of stuff just happens. Do me a favor, ask the Lord, ask to empty yourself and then ask the Lord to fill that empty. And then you watch the next day. And every time you think that stuff just happens, think, no, it does not because nine out of 10, it does not like the same type of science that is trying to convince you that this world fell out of a million pieces and organized its own self over millions of years into some kind of crazy organism earth is the same type of science. That's going to give you the probability that that stuff just happens. That stuff does not just happen. And I promise you, it does not. And I would have been completely on the wrong side of this before I saw it happen. And, and God does things. And if either you're too much of a coward to, to admit that he's done it, or you're scared to death of it. Those are the two reasons that you won't admit that God does things because God does whatever he wants because he runs this thing. And I've, I've had a problem with denying that for a long time. I'm like, that's just a consequence, that's just a consequence, or it's just a, a coincidence. I use coincidence a lot. Uh, uh, whatever it's, it, there are, there are some coincidences. There are not very many, you know what I'm saying?
Every, and, and, and, and you know what? You see something like that go down, you thank God for it and you watch what happens. Right. I think a lot of you're trying to protect yourself from looking the fool. You know, I don't want to look foolish for saying God did something that otherwise the world has produced. Uh, but really, I mean, who's, who's the fool when God is moving around, uh, with your life and the lives of the people around you and you're trying to attribute that to the world that he created. Right. And you know what? That's the funny part is it's not to God's detriment that you won't buy it. You don't say it's not like, like God's going, come on, Ben, you know, get on board with this thing. God's like, that's what I'm doing. I can't, you know, you don't say I can't stop for you. Uh, I give you every opportunity and every advantage to see what I'm about and to accept my love, I got a billion other people on this earth to deal with. You know, I love you and I'll do the best I can for you, but I've shown you everything I can show you. What do you want me to do? Take one of your feet and beat you over the face with it. That's the best I can do. That's, that's true. Ultimately. And I guess that's where we need to be.
You know, if you're going to encourage yourself from, from your own position, it's that, um, it's you, it's you that it hurts. It's you that it hurts when you, when you fail to recognize, uh, or, or be open to the fact that, that God can and will move in your life and go about his business in the way that he wants to. Um, usually you have, you have to be willing. I mean, I like to the extent that you're, you know, you're what God will do it anyway, but you attribute to something else. Um, that's a, that's, that's problematic. That's a problem. Right. Well, and you know, that's the thing is if you don't believe in that kind of God, you don't believe in God. You believe in a God that you've made, you know what I'm saying? You believe in your version of God. Yeah. Yeah. And, and that's the, you're, you're putting God in way smaller opportunity than he needs to be. Yeah. Yeah. I would agree. Hey fellas, what's happening here? Pants, where are you going? I was going to go over there. Okay.
Why? You want to sit and dance seat? We're going to be a rotating group of four dudes. You might as well just sit and dance seat. All right. Uh, you're listening live from the path. Uh, my name is Ben Foost. Thanks for joining us. If you're just joining us on the chat, uh, we are broadcasting live from the pathway 24 seven prayer room. Uh, we'll be broadcasting both this week and next week from the prayer room. And, uh, in fact, right now, Mike, Mike took the first half an hour and, uh, he was in there from 10 to 10 30. Uh, Dan relieved him. Dan's in there now. I'll be going at 11 o'clock and then pants is going to round us out at 11 30 midnight and cover the live from the path shift in the pathway prayer room. We were just talking a little bit about our experiences in the prayer room so far. Um, and we're also joined, uh, just now by, uh, uh, uh, Rausten Hauser. Hey, hey, what's going on, Troy? What's up, man? I just got off work. All right. It's good to see you. Uh, how about you? Uh, any, uh, any initial thoughts from your experience in the prayer room so far?
God is definitely the best way to say it is I just being cliche and say God works in weird, weird ways. He really does. Definitely not through conditioner, huh? Definitely not through conditioner. No, for sure. Actually through two in one shampoo and conditioner. To the, the doobly. Um, no, you know, in all honesty, every single time without fail, every time I go in there, even if it's, I haven't been in six months or I haven't been in two hours, it's just, it really isn't in the root word and awesome thing. It really is. And I love it. And I absolutely love it. And so far I've literally, you know, within the last couple of months I've been doing, uh, uh, an LTG with pants here. And I have kind of renewed my, my, in the words of Francis Chan, my hunger for God. And it's awesome. I love it. And the prayer room has really been helping me with that kind of just sitting in presence and the throne room was an amazing idea. Pants took me in there. He was like, check it out. Honestly. All right. I'm the only one that thinks it's lame.
Fine. You can, you can think it's lame. I'm sticking with it. Everybody has their own opinion. Holy, holy, holy. I'm not saying it's, it's not classic. It's the recording, man. It's not classic. What's wrong with the recording? Mike, and I have an agreement that the guys in the Revelations are creepy. They should be jubilant and they're, they're, they're like, they're like Dozer from the Ghostbusters 2. They're Scooby-Doo villainous. They are creepy. Don't ever listen to the audio Bible. It's a disaster. Seriously. Oh man, I love it. I think it's, I think it's awesome. I think it's really cool. Do you want to sit in the chair? Yeah. Mike, Mike actually talked to me about that. I don't know if he said anything about him wanting to sit in the chair, but first thing he says, I wanted to sit in the chair. Literally the first thing he says to me before he takes in there, he's like, he didn't know
I hadn't been in there yet. So he was like, oh man, I really want to sit in that big chair. And I'm thinking, oh, they have like a big beanbag chair in there or something. That's normally the room where you can just really like sit down and really listen and, and think. Like, and I had no idea what he was talking about. And I was like, pants, I haven't been in there yet. He shows it to me. I'm like, oh, okay. No, I don't want to sit in that. That's it. For two. Okay. For two reasons. One is, it's the Jesus chair. One practical reason of it's on a table and a, it's not safe for me. I'm going to break the chair or the table or whatever. And then B, I couldn't get up there if I had to. Sure. Sure. Like, I would have to get. What about C? It is the Lord's throne. And that's, okay. Your butt does not belong in it. Look at, okay, you've got to listen to my bullet points here.
I now suddenly think of God sitting in a beanbag. I had two points. Take the stiff chair. I don't care. Take it. I had two points. I had point one, which was, I couldn't get up there. And I had point one, A and B. And then point two was going to be, and it's figuratively the Lord's chair. That is not how you presented it. You said two things, and then you gave two, and none of them included it. No. I do not kick God out of his throne and sit in his chair. I said I have two points. Point one, A. You know that's what Ben loves, is God on the throne reigning. That's all he says every day. You can take it as you want. That's not what I meant. Point two was going to be, and it's figuratively the Lord's chair. Hey, I'm going to tell you something. I love this room. I love this room. I love it in here. So do I. It's nice.
It's expansive. What do I mean? Actually, it does look like we've got big dollars. Look at it. Big windows behind us. I mean, this purple ain't doing us a whole lot of man points. There's fake trees here. It's nice. Do we do ourselves a whole lot of man points, though? I mean, in all honesty. I don't know. I think it's pretty cool. Double J, you coming in? What are you doing right now? Yeah, no kidding. Double J, you coming in? Double J. I don't know. Why do you say it like that? You think you didn't hear me and Ben that you had to yell? He's a cool dude. He's a cool dude. Cool dudes only hear what you do. Cool people bust out in a yell. Yeah. It just felt like a shout.
Just like hocking up to somebody you don't tell. Hey, what's up? Yo, what's up, man? You're really roasting him. He's getting upset. Don't yell at me. Don't sass the Jayster. All right. Oh, man. What do you want? Do you want advice? What do you read? What is that? No, no, no. Here we go. Jesus or jail? Jesus or jail. Alabama. So check out this. If you're charged with a nonviolent crime in one Alabama town, you might just have the chance to pray it all away. Starting this week under a new program called Operation Restore Our Community, local judges in Bay Minette, Alabama will give those found guilty of misdemeanors the choice of serving out the time in jail, paying a fine, or attending church each Sunday for a year. The goal of the program is to help steer those who are not yet hardened criminals the chance to turn their lives around.
Those who choose to go to church, there are no mosques or synagogues in the area, will have to check in with the pastor and the police department each week. Once you attend church every week for the year, the case would be dismissed. Police Chief Mike Rowland said the measure is one that would help save money and help direct people down the right path. Rowland told the news organization it costs $75 a day to house each inmate. Good, bad. So they won't have to house them anymore? Yeah, they don't have to go in the jail, but they do have to attend the church. As soon as they don't go to church, then they've got to go to the jail. Then they go to jail. How's the Crusades going? Is that fun? Mike talked to him. I don't even know what's wrong with you. What do you mean the Crusades? Forceful religion? I understand. I'm not saying. You're against this? No. I can't believe it. You're for everything. What I'm saying is I'm not in any way against the church. I'm not in any way against the people in the church. I am freaking shocked.
I'm serious. You're shocked? Somebody wants to write Jesus on a Butterfinger. You're like, yeah, I've been waiting for this for years. Yeah, Jesus bar. I can't believe it. Finally, they try to get card criminals to come to know Jesus, and you're against it. I don't even believe what's going on here. First off, you're contradicting yourself. You just said hard criminals. We're talking about non-violent offenders, most likely. We're a repeated misdemeanor guy. Repeated misdemeanors. It's not a hardened criminal. Jesus only wants to save the murderer. Listen, the Lord can fix any sin. The Eve is smaller, smaller or large. The Czech fraudster, deep and wide. Deep and wide. Deep and wide. No, I'm saying this sounds so much like the actual Holy Crusades. It's the Roman church literally trying to take over Jerusalem to completely change. No, what I'm saying is forcefully throwing on religion. These people, if they're saying you have to go to church once a week, they're probably assuming. They have the option. They could go to jail.
Right. They're probably assuming you aren't at church once a week. What do you mean? Well, I would also assume that. Right. If they're saying. Wait, hold on. This is your punishment. What's the example of a misdemeanor? What's a, what's a, what's a, what's coming? A Czech fraud. You're right. You're right. Bum checks intentionally. That's a misdemeanor. Yeah. A lot of them. Isn't it like messing with federal money and stuff like that? Okay. Oh, so still thievery is not a misdemeanor. That's a, that's a, it's a minor theft. You stole pants as cane. I was going to say, well, it depends on the amount of what you stole. That's where it is. Well, that's where the degrees of theft comes from. You know, it depends on the church, but that might be kind of harsh, right?
Hold on a minute. First of all, you're missing the principle. You, for starters, is this nothing like the crusades where people terrorized an entire European, terrorizing the right word, but they were trying to go back through the European countries and take back sections that have been overthrown by another violent religion. And they were doing so with the sword. These people are doing something wrong and then they're offering them to either go to jail, pay the fine, or go to church. That is not even a close, a legitimate comparison. I think it is. In my mind, it makes sense. It's, it's forcing religion. It's, you guys can laugh all you want. It's, it's trying. It's not a, he has a choice. Okay. But in all honesty, if they're going to choose, hmm, I could go to jail. Uh-huh. Because you did a crime, like both things you deserve. You either deserve a fine or imprisonment. Or you can go to church. Yeah. You think the non-believer is going to choose jail? No, they're going to take church and then hear the Lord Jesus like they should. Is that, is that. Your failure to agree to that makes me weep. I'm not saying I'm failing to agree that. I'm not, I'm not, I'm not disagreeing with them hearing the word of the Lord. I'm not.
Okay. I wasn't disagreeing with that in the first place. If you thought I was, you completely misunderstood me. Pants, how did he explain it that I missed it? I got the impression you're, you're not for that. Yeah. Send them to church. They're not saying you have to believe the sucker here in a church. You don't even have to, they're not saying you even have to listen. They're just saying go to church. They're looking for structure. It's like a job. Yeah. Go, go to church. But you're not for it. Each week. No church. I never actually said I wasn't for it. I never once said that. I'm just, I'm thinking about it because at first, at first hearing it, it didn't make sense to me. It didn't make sense to me. I'm thinking it through. Give me a second here. Yeah. Mike, you can shake your head and then you can laugh all you want.
Well, we did. Yeah. That's why I'm duly noted. That's what happened. I'm giving you permission to do it even more. Here's the thing. It's not going to bother me. Here's the thing. I'm going to, I'm just, I don't want you to take this the wrong way, but I'm going to teach you something here. If you're going to act like you're upset and outlandish at something, you have to have something prepared, Troy. You can't just say, I'm not fully convinced that when I got upset there a minute ago that I was right. I thought my crusades did this pretty good. No. First of all, I'm fairly certain you have very little facts on the crusades. Either that or you don't understand the implication of the crusade versus what they're trying to do because they are definitely not apples to apples. The implications of the crusades. Anybody, if you thought you were going to sneak that by, I would not have thought, I can get this one by Ben Foost. He is the one guy I would not try to get that by. That's true. So now we're at two mistakes on your part. Whatever.
I don't think it's a bad idea. What do we care? It's just an option. Well, no, here's the thing that surprises me is that the judicial system doesn't have to back, doesn't have to say this is okay. You know what I'm saying? Like other states or even the federal government doesn't have any business sticking their nose in there and saying, you know, we set up a system, we have agreed upon laws, you know, you can't, this is not one of the options for punishment. What would they let those judges do? You know, they always talk about the freelance judge who does something clever, you know, who says, you know, you, you, you, I don't know, tore out a chunk of Britney's hair at school. And for a fine, you're going to work for the wig organization for three months and then we'll let you off, you know, they always got people to do stuff like that. What are you leaving? So anyway, I, I think, I don't know, they must have more discretion than I know about. Yeah. I just thought that it was more regulated than that. I didn't think you could just do whatever you want. You know, it doesn't really say how, uh, what the equivalent of time served is. Cause I don't know if you're going to, if you're going to church, let's say you go to church here, that's only 52 hours of service. What's a misdemeanor get you more than an overnight, right? Oh, I'd say it depends on the misdemeanor. I gotta go to prison.
I don't know anything about it. Pants. All right. Anyway. Yeah. I, I, I, so no, okay. So here's my question. Here's one of the reasons I actually looked this up is how do you feel about that from a church perspective? Like from the receiving church. Now I get that these people aren't murderers, right? But they are, uh, they are still, uh, they're on the wrong side of the law. And you're saying, uh, it's always nice to have people that don't know Christ, uh, come into the church, right? That's the goal. But isn't there a certain element where you gotta be, you gotta be concerned about, uh, who's in your presence? There's kids there. No, no, they're not leading. So let me ask this convicted, uh, rapist. Yeah. No problem. No problem. You gotta, you don't at least put a guy on them. I don't know. I put a guy on them.
You, you got a new guy that's come to the church the first time. You have no idea if he's a convicted rapist or not. Uh, except for what? I'm, it's a program. They tell, don't they tell you who's causing the trouble? Probably. Yeah. That sounds like a great idea. But also. All right, church. Uh, we've got, this guy has been convicted of these things. Well, I think you gotta do it on the slide, Pants. I don't know if you gotta make an announcement. Just treat him regularly. By the way, ladies and gentlemen of the church, we are going to have a rapist with us today. Yeah, seriously, Pants. Everybody treat him good. I don't think you make an announcement like you're saying. All right. I'm going to go swap out for Daniel. That's cool. And I'm going to say. Hold the fort. There's, uh, there's optional church in prison. Just saying. There's optional church in prison.
Yeah, but it costs, uh, uh, it costs less. It costs 75 bucks a day to house the guys. If you, if you keep them here. Right. No, and I was, I was talking about like. They're saving money. Saving money and teaching Jesus. Let's talk about the rapist. I would never, I would never in any way, shape, or form unfailing ever say, you know, if you rape someone, don't worry about prison. Just go to church once a week. Never say that. I am not in any way cool with that. That I will stand behind. Well, and that, uh, because he said, and Ben was saying, it really didn't specify what just a small misdemeanor is, but. Right. But when it comes to. That's what I imagine won't be a small misdemeanor. Well, that's a, okay. Well, that's a, that's a felony. That's a, that's a good question for Daniel, actually. Uh, Daniel, if, let's say that they set up a program where they had. In Alabama. Uh, they had, uh, convicted, uh, right now it's misdemeanor, right? But we're going to say it's a rapist.
Okay. Okay. And they gave him the option to attend church services to avoid prison time. And they sent him to your church. Do you stick a guy in him to keep an eye on the fella? You say if he's a rapist? Yeah, he's a convicted rapist. I don't, I don't think it hurts. I mean, if they're not coming there to change their life, they're coming there to not go to prison. Right. So, uh, I think he, it's, it's responsible for the rest of the church body to at least not, not necessarily, he doesn't have necessarily have to know, you know, you're, you're spying on him, but you know, you want to be responsible. Um, yeah, I'd keep an eye on him. I think I agree with that. I think you do have to keep an eye on him. Troy? Yeah, that, that, I just, I just don't know if I would say yes to that. I actually, I know right now with where my, my heart's at right now, I would absolutely not say yes to that. To, to allowing them to come or to, to the watching them? No, to giving them the option of not going to prison and coming to church once a week. I would not say yes to that at all. I would rather give them a reduced sentence with a church services seven days a week at the prison.
Right. And that's what I was saying is there's optional church at the prison. Okay. Now, so now break it down. So it's not some crazy man. Say it's a check fraud guy. White collar crime. Yeah. I mean, I think it's still easier to manage if, if you give them a reduced sentence and have church on their facility because I'm just trying to figure out the paper trail, you know, I suppose you gotta, you know, I've done, done things. People have come and they had to do community service and stuff like that. And you sign off and you'd count hours and stuff. I guess you could do it that way. I mean, they have a system already for that type of thing. I sign off. Yep. Yep. You know, Joe was at church. No, wait. Why would you doubt seriously that that would be offered to a rapist? Now, I, here's the thing is I, here's where I agree with Dan. I agree with Dan in the fact that if they're forcing someone to come to church, you cannot expect a changed heart. I can't say that it's impossible to get a changed heart, but right. People who come to church who are seeking God, find God.
People who seek Christ, find Christ. And transform, are transformed. People who turn their back on God and want nothing to do with him, don't find him, doesn't matter where you put him. You're trying to say that church is a more holy place than, you know, the laundromat at your local apartment building. And that's just not the case. The God is holy. The place is irrelevant. Right. You know, and so I think I agree with that part. Although, I mean, I don't know, it doesn't, you know, people's past crimes or past sins, add all ours up, we're some pretty dangerous people, you know. So I don't know that you can, I don't know that you can look at anybody coming to the church and sanction whether they can come in or not. You know, you just have to prepare for it if it's an honest, you know, if you think it's an honest threat, it's not like you have to make it a public announcement, you know, but, you know, maybe the leadership gets together and goes, look, we just, you know, we have five people here, so keep an eye on him. Just see where he's at. That's all. That's all. See, I don't know, I don't know where I'd differentiate or even if I should differentiate where I understand that all sin is sin in God's eyes. There's no difference between sin. If I stole a rubber ducky or if I murdered someone, still is sin in God's eyes equal.
In a worldly law standpoint, the man that stole a rubber ducky, I'd probably be more comfortable around than the man who raped someone or murdered someone, you know, I, um, and that's why I don't know if I even should differentiate that or not. I think there's two ways to look at sin. All sin is equal in that it separates you from God, but not all sin is equal. I mean, even in the Old Testament, some sin had a higher punishment than others. Some was stoned by death. Some was, hey, just go kill that goat and be sad, you know, and get for God. Some could be atoned for by it, by a sacrifice. Some are like, you're out of here. Yeah. That makes sense. So things, I think that we, and I probably have said that myself at times, you know, but we've, we've kind of given this idea that, oh, all sin is equal before God is really not. Although still on the Klondike bar, something on, uh, at some point I saw it somewhere, um, is, is just as bad as rape or murder as far as separating you from God. And, and now you need to be atoned for, but it's, it's different in, you know, I'm not going to watch someone who, who, you know, I'm not going to keep an lie on someone who, who stole a, an ice cream bar, but if, uh, there was a, a money launderer or something, uh, we wouldn't make him treasurer of the church. Right. You know, but he's good with money. He's really good. He's very good with money. This is the guy we should get him hooked up with a job.
Offerings are up. He's got a new house. Here to say, everybody's happy. The Lord has blessed him with talent in a certain area. We should, we should definitely let him do it. You're amazing financially. Have you seen the Shawshank Redemption? He's the man. Andy Dufresne. Sorry. You have been listening to Live from the Path on a, uh, a special Monday night broadcast, uh, rocking from the, uh, live from the, uh, Pathway Prayer Room, uh, 24-7 Prayer Room here at the Ministry Center. Um, seriously, if you haven't, uh, if you're at all interested, uh, on, uh, getting this thing hooked up or, or giving it a shot, just coming out, praying for an hour, it is, uh, an absolutely awesome experience. Come out right now. Yeah. We, we, we have time. I think Live from the Path pretty much owns the overnight here. Uh, so, uh, you know, if you want to stop in for an hour, uh, you know, we're more than welcome to, uh, more than happy to pony up an hour for you or two hours or whatever you think you need, you know, just get a chance to, uh, get quiet, get louder, or get connected to God, whatever you want to do in there. That's what the room's for. So, uh, Dan, how's, how's your, uh, first stuff been going pretty well?
Yeah, it's been going okay. I mentioned earlier, you know, it's kind of, uh, it's, it's kind of early on, so there's no real theme yet to what's going on with me. I've tried a little bit, everything, um, just kind of playing with stuff and, uh, a lot of listening, a lot of music, um, playing a little guitar, uh, a little reading, a little writing, you know, um, no one thing has jumped at me yet. Sure, sure. Now, Dan, Dan, do you have the, uh, uh, do you have the prayer room link, uh, that you can throw up on the chat if you get the chance? Yes. Can you do that? Yeah. Okay. Just slide that over here. I'm going to say I need to give you your computer back. Yeah. So, uh, uh, Daniel will, uh, take care of putting a link on the, on the, on the, on the chat here so that you can go ahead. And, uh, if you want to go check out the schedule, you don't have to do it tonight. You know, you got to, we still got a couple of weeks worth here, uh, I think for you to sign up and take a look at it. And, uh, uh, I don't know. I think it's a solid investment of your time. If it's not something that you've tried before, it's not anything to be, uh, scared of. I think it's something just to give a shot. You know, you like it, you like it, uh, and it's going to rock out.
It's kind of, we're kind of a different situation here where we're out of the, out of the prayer room facility. Actually, we're still in the building, but we're just a little bit outside the prayer room walls and a bit is in there and we've, we've never run the show without Ben. Uh, so it's, we can do anything we want right now. It should be interesting. We lucked out just that he started the stuff up for us. I can hit a couple of buttons here. This is about as far as it can go. He's usually good at manhandling the conversation pieces and the camera angles. And I wouldn't expect a lot of that now. I would just expect more, some straightforward talking. The most camera angle you're going to get is just me kind of moving my camera back and forth. Yeah. So, so I'm pretty excited to be at the helm, kind of feeling the thing. Pants, how are you doing this evening? I'm doing pretty good. So if you had to say, what's, what's the one thing you've done for God this year? Your whole life, Pants. Can I answer that for a second? What has Pants done? I'm going to say, Troy, Troy will be my son. Character reference and brother witness. He has done an amazing job helping me get back into the church. Good man, Pants.
Is the best way to do it. He's definitely brought me back and I can't thank him enough for that. And I haven't yet. So I apologize for this take it so long, but thank you, Pants, for helping me out. So, and if you don't mind me saying one other thing, I wanted to let everybody, all the chat listening and everything like that, anytime that you guys see me in the prayer room, I never put that little guy next to my name for a reason because I'm never really wanting to be alone in there. At any point in time, you see hours that I've got that you want, you're more than welcome to come. Find me, text me, call me, find someone who might be able to find me or just show up at the time that I'm in there. More than welcome to walk in. You don't have to knock, just come on in, you can spend some time with me. Yeah. Like I'll never find you in like an arms raised, awkward position? No. Praising on Jesus in there? And that's not, you know, something I've come to terms with is that's not awkward at all. I don't, man. It still is for me. That's not awkward. I've just become comfortable with doing it by myself. Me too. If someone were to come in, I would feel like I'd be like, oh.
I'd be like, oh. I'd be like, I'd be like, I'd be like, I'd be like, I'd be like, I'd be like, I'd starting to be more and more comfortable with, you know, if I'm doing it in praise to Jesus and praise to God, as long as it's not inappropriate to where if someone walked in and saw it, I could care less who sees me do it. I really don't. I mean, because I. I think I envy you slightly. I don't, I don't, still don't know that I could be caught dead raising my hands. Like, especially if someone just came in and I had my eyes closed worshiping Jesus and someone walked in and I'd be like, whoa. If I. I would stop worshiping Jesus. You would have ruined it, Pat, if you didn't know. If I'm feeling it and I'm compelled to raise my hands or if I'm the only dude in church clapping, I'm cool with it. If I'm compelled to do it and I'm worshiping my God, I could care less. I can clap. What people look. I can, I can, I can even go, woo. I can do it. But there's something, I don't know. It's probably because both of us, our backgrounds, being raised, we were raised in churches, you just don't do that. Yeah, you don't do it. I love being in this church.
Where it's happening. Yes. But I just feel, what'd you say? I was raised in this church. Yeah, so it's okay to do it in our church. I've been here since I was like 10. It's actually, it's a very cool, it's a very cool feeling on my own. I've done, I do do it by myself, not very often because I don't want to do it. I don't want to phony it. You know, if I don't mean it, I don't mean it. I don't do it just to do it, you know. But if I do do it and someone come bowling in, I don't know, I would feel very weird. It would just feel awkward to me. That's one of the things I try and be careful with because if I just see someone doing it to church, I don't want to raise my arm just because I see them doing it. I don't want to see someone sitting out in the congregation. Kind of like when people stand. And you're like, oh great, we're going to stand now? I don't want to stand. I don't want to stand. I've got to stand. No, but normally if I stand up because somebody else is standing up, I feel like I want to stand up too. And that's, you know, it's nothing against the people that are sitting down when that happens. If you feel wrong for that, don't. There's no reason to.
I know for a while I did. If someone stood up and I was one of the people that was still sitting down, I felt like, man, I'm obviously not worshiping Jesus right now. Now see, I always think, okay, dude, there's no reason to stand up for this one. You know what I'm saying? It's not a stander. If someone is doing jumping jacks. Some songs are the stander songs. Some songs are just to sit, close your eyes, and take in Jesus. I try and find. There's dudes that stand up on the take in Jesus tunes that I'm like, all right. Sit down, will you? That's how they're taking it. I try and clap during one of the really slow songs. I'm just like, I don't know. Should I clap? Like, no. I've definitely become more and more comfortable with that. And if I'm honestly seeing someone do a jumping jacks down the aisle, if they're really doing a compelled and worshiping God, I could care less. I mean, I'll try not to sit there and be like, what is that guy doing? Someone's doing like cartwheels through the aisles. Hey, good. More power to them. I probably won't be doing that. But if you're worshiping God, who cares?
I really am to that point. And I'm happy about it. Because I've… I love being in that environment. I do too. Well, yeah. I mean, I really appreciate it. It's powerful. I mean… I'm going to tell you. Next week, I'm going to dance. I'm going to run around. I want to see it. David style. Exactly. Here's what I'm going to do. So I was out of town this week. Troy, there will be kids. Don't make sure I don't hit any of them. People don't scare the children. So, okay. So I was out of town this week. And I went to a church on Wednesday. I happened to be out of town on a Wednesday. And in the town I was in, I thought, you know, I should go catch a Wednesday service. You know, I'm away from my family.
I'm away from my normal small group. Like, I should do something Jesus style. I don't want to be sitting in a hotel room by myself. So I found a church. And I went to the Wednesday Bible study. And it was actually very cool. It's been a long time since I've been to a church outside of my own. You know, where I didn't really know anybody. And, you know, in a church building. So it was, I mean, it was cool. And they were doing a Bible study. They were walking through a book called The Story. Which is basically the, yeah, it's the Bible in a synopsis. You know, basically 31 chapters. You know, the entire Bible all the way through. So that was very cool. Now here's the, here's the funny part. I sat down next to the one lady in the church who's an end of timeser. He's an end of times lady. So I sat down, I sat down next to her. And I'm like, cool. This is like a 15, 20 person, small group. I'm like, I've kind of encroached on their small group. But they said it was fine. And I sat down. She goes, I just want to tell you that the Lord's army will be advancing on us next week.
And they're going to come out at us from China. He's going to come out from Florida. And then the Vietnamese are going to come at us from the California side. And frankly, the earth will begin to shoot up its dead. And the earthquakes will begin. And we will not make it. The Lord is very angry. Like this week. Yeah. Yeah. I'm like, well, that's a bummer. My name's Mike. And she goes, the Holy Spirit wanted me to tell you this. That it's just best to be prepared. I said, well, that's good advice all the time. Yeah. Be prepared. Yeah. So. You take from that. Sweet Moses, indeed. Sweet Moses is exactly what I thought. I don't think even Moses came up with that one. So I looked around the room. I'm like, okay, so either I've landed in a church where everyone believes this. Or they just have one.
And they're doing the best just to keep her close to God. You know. And I think she was the only one. So I felt a little more ease. They started getting into the Bible study. And I'm like, I think she was the only one. You know. But, I mean, she kept trying to interject crazy things. She's like, some people say I'm crazy about this thing. But I know I'm not. But I'm like, well, I think you should pray on that. And see where God leads you. Shall we take a vote? I'm like, I'm a guest here. It's not like I can grab her by the coattails and say, repent. You are not correct. The Holy Spirit is telling me right now. Yeah. And here's the thing. Is it coincides with, this was the end in time this week. According to. Camping. Yeah. The last prediction. I think it was last Monday. No.
It was. We were before it. I think last Monday. The predicted date was the 21st of May. So it was May 21st and then October 21st. Oh. The five-month tribulation was. It was like Friday or something. Yeah. So you missed it. You missed it. I missed the end of the world. Yeah. So the whole thing. The whole thing comes. We're done. You know. The world's supposed to be over. And it's just like we talked about on the first thing. Like, you have to be very deceived to continue on this line of thinking. Right. When everything that you've said shows no biblical backing and has not even shown itself to be true. You know? Like, there's not even a hint that what you're saying is correct. Yeah. For my seventh guess, okay, it's going to be this time I know it.
He would be doing terrible on, like, a test. Yeah. Like, answering questions for a teacher. Like, the prophet test. Yeah. Exactly. And we're trying to figure out if his spiritual gift is prophecy or not. End times. You keep saying that word. I don't think you know what that word means. He's definitely completely failed this test so far. I'm just trying to think about that in, like, a church announcement. Like, Dan getting up in front of the congregation right before church starts. And remember, everyone, go ahead and make sure that you're in your basements on Tuesday of this week. Well, you know, that's the thing, right? If people are deceived, they stay deceived. They stay deceived because they like it. They like to be deceived. Because it doesn't require anything on their part. So if it's the end time and somehow you know when it is, where do you go? I mean, do you want to be in your basement? The house collapses on you. Do you want to be outside? Do you want to be in a cave? In all honesty, if it's really the end of days in the way that it is described in the Bible, I don't know if I physically, just pain-wise, want to be anywhere. I think we'll be gone.
It's going to be terrible regardless. It's going to be awesome, Troy. That's the thing. No, I'm talking – yes, that's true. It is going to be awesome. I can't wait. Wait a minute. Hold on. I hope it's going to be awesome. How are you with Jesus? Good now. Pretty solid. Working on it. Okay, good. Here's the thing. Okay, fine. I know it's going to be awesome. There you go. Here's what I anticipate happening. Here's how I always see it going down. And this is totally lame. It's probably not how it's going to happen, right? But I just can't imagine – I'm driving or whatever, and then I see Jesus on a horse, and I look up at the sky. I'm like, that's a big horse. Because it's not like Jesus is going to show up on a small horse. It's going to be a big horse.
I see like an eight-story horse. I'm like, that's a big horse. And then it's totally not how it's going to happen. Like, that's just a – you know, and I didn't get the metaphor until I read something else, and I got the metaphor, right? Because when Jesus came – you know, when kings came into town, they always rode on horses. That's what the symbolism is for Jesus on the horse. It's a conquering king. Right. When he came in on a donkey just before Passover, that would show that he was not the conquering king. He was just coming in as a dude, a regular dude. He was a guy that's not causing war. He was the son of God, but he was just a dude. Just a dude. And, you know, obviously the son of God could ask for whatever animal he wanted. He asked for the donkey for a reason. I always thought that was a weird choice. I never understood why. Why not a camel? Go get me – yeah. Give me something that's going to be a little bit better than a donkey. Why do you have to get something so low to the ground? You know, it almost looks like a circus act opposed to a – you know, at least – Just feet dragging. At least just a male that deserves some respect on the way in on a camel or a steed. You know, it's like, give me a donkey. You know, they sit low to the ground.
They're like low riders. That just goes to show how humble he was about who he was and how he – You know what? And actually, I thought – I thought about that in the prayer room today. And actually, it's a – every once in a while in that prayer room, I'll catch a thought and I'm like, remember this thought. Remember this thing because I forget it. And I thought – I was going over the crucifixion. And for some reason in my head, I just kept thinking, he was not a victim. He's just – he's not a victim. Don't ever think about it that way. And I was almost irritated with my own self for ever thinking about it that way. It's like, oh, poor Jesus betrayed. Don't ever think – don't ever let the – don't ever let the way anybody spins it make you ever think that he was not that same Jesus on the horse, on the conquering. I'm coming back to really whoop on people. That is the same Jesus that knowingly got the living tar beat out of him because of something – because of a lie that I told. Let me – sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt you. No, go ahead. Go ahead. And I hope this isn't throwing us in a different direction. But, you know, now that I am actually truly digging into the Bible, I've got a couple questions. And I hope that people are okay on the chat and people are going to listen to this. Me asking some questions since we're talking about this. And I apologize. We're live on the path. Exactly.
We are live on the path. So I completely agree with Jesus was not a victim in any way, shape, or form. He knew what was going on. He was completely aware of what was going to happen. And he knew exactly what in every step of the way was going to happen. But I can't remember. I know it's in all the Gospels somewhere. I don't know any specific verses. I'm working on it. I'm working on being able to pull this stuff from a specific verse. But in the Gospels, it talks about before the actual crucifixion, how Jesus – if I'm not wrong in this, I apologize. If I am, please correct me. Is he praying in the Garden of Gethsemane, I believe it is, praying to God, asking God, if there's any other way to do this, please do it? Am I getting that wrong? No, that's correct. That's what you're saying. That's correct. Okay, and I just – I wanted to make sure that's what he was asking because it seemed like he was truly – I mean, this was to the point that he was in hypertension and bleeding as he was praying. And if you don't know what that is, read Lee Strobel's Case for Christ. Oh, my Lord, that's a great book. And I don't believe it was him fearing the cross as much as he was about to become sin. Okay, that makes sense. Scripture says he became our sin, and all of a sudden he was unacceptable before the Father, and everything turned black, and it was bad. I guess I didn't even think about that. Yeah. That's way beyond, well, they're going to put a nail through my hand, and it's going to hurt.
Right, that's a lot more than just the physical pain that he felt. This is, I'm going to become everything. Right, it's being separated from the Father. Even one sin had done it. Well, yeah, exactly. But he didn't just take the one. He took all of it. That makes total sense. Okay, thank you. I'm glad I asked that because I was really confused because I didn't know if it was fear of the cross. And, I mean, from my standpoint, that's completely understandable to be afraid of that situation. I mean, you are going to be brutally murdered. Because if you're God, you have a bigger perspective and say, hey, I'm going to do this for a few hours. Right, and that's what I'm talking about, my perspective. He's got a standpoint of he sees everything. Well, but here's the thing, is that at that point, Jesus does not. Like, Jesus set aside, he is fully man and fully God, and he chose to set aside his God attributes to become man. He was still fully God. But it's like, if this can make sense to you, that he took the half man, half God, and he chose to blind himself and cut himself off from his omniscience and from his God parts, right? Right. And so, you know, I do totally believe that it was the sin and not the physical that was going to pain him and that he did not want to do. But I totally believe that he was showing that he was fully man because fully man goes, I don't like the sound of this, Father. Father, is there something else we can do? If not, my will is yours. But this does not sound good. Well, you know.
I guess I never and never in any way thought about it is that was, in all honesty, that was his first sin. He didn't sin at all. He took the sin, though. But throughout his life before that time, he didn't do sin. Sin wasn't Jesus' thing. I mean, he was a perfect man up until he took our sin for us. He was about to become the very thing he was dying for. Right. That makes a lot more sense. Because he understood he was going to raise three days later. I mean, he told everybody, hey, turn on this temple. They're going to rebuild it in three days. But, you know, he knew it was short term. Separation from God. That makes a lot of sense. Thank you, gentlemen. I appreciate it. Yeah, I don't know if I believe what you're saying, Dan. Yeah? I don't know that I agree with that. I mean, I know he knew the assignment. I believe that Jesus 100% knew the assignment. He very clearly said he would raise in three days, though. Yeah, I think he – that's what I'm saying. I think he knew that. But I don't think that stops the apprehension from what was going to happen.
Well, sure. But not – I don't think to the extent – I thought he wasn't going to bail. Well, right, right. Like, he was never going to not do it. But to the extent of the garden scene, you know, he's bleeding and he's, you know, sobbing and he's so weak to the point that an angel has to come and revive him. I mean, why would he anguish something that deeply unless it was something so against his nature that – It's more of a physical pain. Well, I believe that. It's showing he is part man. I mean, even if I was going to the cross, I'd be thinking, man, this is a really bummer. But even I'd be thinking, hey, when I'm dead, it's over. Yeah, but how much – but maybe that's where I don't think we're meet night eye here is how much of God's – how much of his deity did he give up? I don't think he gave anything up. Because he still was omnipression. I mean, he knew what Troy was thinking. He'd sit there and say, oh, I know what you're thinking, blah, blah, blah, blah. They're like, you dirty – Well, but see, that's what I'm saying is that I don't – I believe he still had his deity. I believe he chose not to use it. Right.
Well, I don't know what you mean. Because he had to become – He had to recognize him from, like, down the street. Oh, Jesus, Nazareth. But that's exactly what I'm saying is, like – because he can say that he lived a life exactly as ours, and he can't say that with the deity. You know what I'm saying? He can say that without the deity. So Jesus still had the – He had physical temptation. He had physical hunger. Yeah, he had bowel movements. I mean, he did everything physically that we do. Yes. But he was still – See, so Double J, he abandoned the ability to be God for the sake of humankind. Right. I agree with that. Right. But at the same time, when they came to arrest him, he said, oh, yeah, it's me. And they all fell over. Yeah. Well, and that's true. I'm showing – I'm giving myself. You're not taking me.
I'm giving me. When the gal touched his robe, you know, and he's like, someone touched me. Like, he knew who touched him. Yeah. Freaked out to the whole crowd. Yeah. All right. Something just happened here. I wouldn't want to be in that crowd, just like Jesus completely stopping an entire crowd of people. Hey. I wouldn't want to be in the crowd where he started whooping on people at the temple. That was creepo. And I wouldn't want to be in the crowd where Jesus tried to escape them by getting on a boat, and they still won't leave him alone. Personally, I don't agree with that at all. I would like to have been there. I would love that. That would have been awesome. Ah. That's – I don't know, Troy. I don't know if I'd like to be there. I don't know. Hey. Right now, I can't wait to be in the presence of Jesus. Early Christians got the living snot beat out of them. Well, yeah. I've killed most of them.
It's a coming. I'd like to claim myself to be some kind of manly man, but I'm pretty happy that I'm not currently getting the snot beat out of them. You know what's happening in Egypt right now as we speak? A lot of stuff. Oh, they're killing. They're killing Christians left and right, raping, killing – Really? Oh, big time. All these Muslim countries. You're talking about the Crusades. I had y'all in the prayer room. I'm like, ah, but I'm not saying anything that'll be misinterpreted. I didn't know all that. You know, honestly, I know that. It's going big time right now. I know that we go through persecution and – Big time. And people of our age really do, but, you know, I was talking to Pants a while back, and one of the questions in an LTG is, you know, have you been a testimony to the Lord Christ in your actions and words this week? And right after I read Romans, I said – I literally said to him, I was like, you know, the past few weeks I've said, yeah, I think I have been. Dude, I suck. Yep. And he started laughing, and I was like, man, I am absolutely terrible. You know, I talked to somebody at work about God, yeah, but I didn't put up every single thing that I own and abandon my job and leave my family and go to a foreign country where I knew I was going to be persecuted and beat and bloodied and put in prison to speak the words of my believing God. Well, not to be fair, Troy, did God call you to do that?
If God called you to do that and you said no – Like the Holy Spirit really telling me to do that? Yeah, the Holy Spirit. Or in the Bible, him calling me to do that? If God's told – that's the relationship part, right? Like if God's told you to do that and you say no, you've got big problems. Right. If God has not called you to do that, you don't want to force righteousness, right? God's got stuff for you to do where he has stuff for you to do. Yeah, I was going to say, no, I don't – I didn't feel the Holy Spirit saying, hey, Troy, go to Iraq. Yeah, see, people get all fired up about this, and some of it's the Holy Spirit. Some of it's not. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, some of it's guilt. Like I've done this before where if you try to force righteousness, then you're spitting in God's face saying, I don't need you. I will decide what's best for you. Mistake. I guess I didn't even think about it like that. Mistake. Do not tell the Lord your God what to do. That's very true. I never thought of it like that because I would – you know, I want to say – and obviously in my human frailty, I wish that I could, and I obviously can't guarantee that I would, but I wish sometimes that I was called to do that. And I never thought of it as enforcing righteousness and telling God, you know what, I'm not – I don't need to be in the place I'm at right now. I'm going to go somewhere else just because I think you might want me to. And maybe he will someday.
So that definitely puts me in a little bit of a different perspective than I want to spend minutes a job. It's an all-inclusive deal, right? So when you – usually people are like, empty me of myself, God. Are you mocking me? I just said that. No, no, no, listen. Listen, but here's what I'm saying. People do that, but they don't mean it. You know what I'm saying? People empty it out and then leave – Well, they put themselves back in. Well, it's the 20% that's not negotiable, right? Like, empty me of all my ideas and give me your ideas except for I'm not moving. I really like my current job. And I don't want to be making any less than at least like 50 a year because seriously, I don't live that way. I don't want to be uncomfortable either. But apart from that, your will be done. I always just thought to myself, you know, I want to be able to stand before God and tell him I did that. And like in my list of crap that I did in my entire life, my long chalkboard written out of everything I've done, you know, obviously I'm not going to look at God and be like, hey, I know I did all this stuff, but did you see that? Like, did you see that part? I'm not going to do that, but – But there's something. There's a human urging to say, look, Lord, I did something. Yeah, exactly. I certainly have earned my way here. It's going to break – hopefully, I mean, obviously I don't know because I never died, but it's going to break my heart to sit there in front of the God that I claim to love on a daily basis.
And I claim to serve and worship and then say, yeah, God, Jesus, you were murdered for me. And I like to use that word when it comes to it because it really puts on a holy conviction for me. You were murdered. You weren't just sacrificed for me. You weren't laid down for me. You were murdered by my ancestors, in some way probably my ancestors, by men that you were in front of for years, murdered in cold blood for my sin. You took on every single wrong I've ever done in my entire life and then stand in his presence, look him in the eyes, and say, but I still did all this. I still did this list. However, that list is erased. Right. So you've just missed it all. It's gone. Do it when it's forgiven. I just think to myself that I'm going to go up there and I'm going to start writing. My dad used to tell me all the time, he was like, I really hope that God doesn't hand us a piece of chalk because I'm going to feel terrible when I look at God and say, hey, do you have any more chalk? I'm sorry. My dad used to say that all the time. I think that is the toughest part because, in fact, this happened to me within a month or whatever. I was just kind of walking along and some reason I was thinking about what it would be like on that day and you're there. And mixed with this huge sense of relief, like, awesome, I'm here, was, I'm sorry, I did nothing with my life. If I only knew. Yeah. Like, I did know, but I didn't know. Yeah. Right, right. And then he's like, you don't want to go back, but you're like, man, I really could have, I didn't really do, I didn't do anything with myself.
I think we're all going to be bipolar when we're there just because at the point of time when we do see the living God, we're going to be thinking to ourselves, yes, here you are. I finally see you, I'm in your presence, but at the same time, oh, crap, what all did I do? You guys are suckers because I'm going to be over there and going, how did you get this horse this big? Seriously, this is a huge horse. This horse was gigantic. And can I climb up on that throne there? I mean, you're not sitting there all day, right? God of the universe can go about. You can take a lunch break, can't you? Oh, my keyboard for you. I can just see Jesus putting his head on my shoulder going, you're the throne warmer. Yeah, buddy. I got a job for you. I put that inside you. It was the Holy Spirit wanting to sit back on the throne inside of my foost. Can I just imagine? I said, really? He says, no, you're the janitor. Move. You're right, Lord. I don't know enough about the scripture yet, but I would sure love to go up to heaven and just see God and him say, hey, you want to sit on my lap? You want to sit on dad's lap? I'm like, yeah, yes. That sounds awesome. And then he elbows Jesus and goes, watch, we're going to feed the horse. Go ahead and pet him, Troy.
Look at this little guy. He wants to sit on my lap. There's God, Jesus, and your old man going, sucker. Feed the horse. Everybody falls for that one. Dude, I get so excited talking about this stuff. I can't wait. I obviously I can because God is a calling for all of us here, but it's going to be this week we hear. I'm so excited. Mike's heard personally. Chinese are coming up from California. Vietnamese coming from California. Here's the thing. I didn't know God and the Chinese were, the devil and the Chinese were. So go. But here's the thing. Kim Jong Il. I say the devil, but I mean Jesus, right? Jesus is bringing about the rapture. It is not Satan. So that means God has to be using the Chinese to attack the United States and America. Wow. I guess I didn't even think about that part. It's not going to be Satan leading the armies. It's the army. I mean, if they're doing revelation stuff, they're assuming it's the army of Satan against the army of God.
So we're against God's people. So it's still Satan. And then Jesus comes and cleans up. Yeah. You know, I was, you know, the other thing that I realized actually after talking to that lady is I thought, God's grace is big. God forgives everybody. He sure loves us. That's one crazy love. That ain't no kidding. That's not what I would do if I were on the throne. Mike would say, you're crazy. You're out. Sometimes the simple truths just hit me that I think I've overlooked, like Satan didn't create hell. God made hell. God sends you there, and God puts Satan there. You know why? Because he doesn't want him in heaven. You know what I'm saying? Same thing with you, guy who doesn't listen to Jesus. You know, people are always like, well, at least I can go down and hang out with the devil and all my friends, because we'll be in hell. And that'll be fine, because my friends will be there. You know what? Are you quoting ACDC? God made both parts. God made heaven and hell. He put the people he doesn't want in hell.
You know what I'm saying? It's not like you and your buddies are going to hold hands and play Monday Night Football. You know, it's hell. Yeah, if it's fun, it'll be in heaven. That's the way it goes. You are not doing it down there. If it sucks, it's in hell. Because people always rebel against God. They're like, whatever, at least I can identify with the devil. I'll go down to the place he's created. We didn't create that place either. God made both. He made all three places. Yeah. He made heaven, the chasm, and hell. You know what I'm saying? He's renting. And he's about to be evicted. See, he's just living there until God decides he wants the space back. It's funny how people think heaven. I was thinking about this. I actually tossed it because I didn't end up using it in the sermon that I was thinking of. But, like, it's our entrance to heaven when people try to do things to get in there. It's very much like setting up your wedding, right? And you invite all the people that you want there because you're like, I don't want a bunch of people that irritate me there. Like, I want close friends and family, people that love me, they're going to celebrate my day.
And then, oh, but I'll also take $20 at the door. Like, that's what it's like. As if you kept everybody out because you wanted this great thing. You only want to be surrounded by people that love you. And you say, well, but also if they'll give you $20, I'll let them in. And, like, that's kind of the thought of what do I have to do to get into heaven? Like, what is the just enough? Because I'll pay that. And then I'll get in. I don't have to love God. I don't have to care about his wedding. I don't have to be excited. I don't have to do any of that. I'll just give them the $20 at the door, and then they'll let me in. But, like, here's the deal. God does not want to spend eternity with a guy that just wants to pay $20 at the door. Like, that stinks. Who wants to have a heaven with a bunch of, like, cool people in it and the love of God and everything's awesome? And then you get some schmuck who kind of gave his $20 and said, all right, now where's the cheese platter? Like, that's what people are trying to do. Like, what do I do to get in? I hear you have a buffet. Yeah. I don't really care for that guy, but I heard, yeah, I heard stuff was great. So, and that was the really good question was in Crazy Love. Wait, maybe I saw it somewhere.
And it was, would you accept a heaven that had streets of gold, no more crying, no more tears, complete peace, everything, everybody you've ever loved around you, and no Jesus? Would you accept a heaven that fit that definition? That was crazy. Okay. So, like, and if you wouldn't, what are you doing? Why are you looking at me like that? Don't put your, don't cup the microphone. That's why you don't get to sit in the big boy chair. Smackdown? Anyway. Anyway, that's it. No, yeah, that's. You don't want some sleazle that's willing to give you a five spot and something out the door to try to get in heaven. Right. That's not the way it works. And his point was paradise without Jesus is not paradise. Yeah, right, right. It's just another place. Yeah. That's not going to be as awesome. Filled by guys that are willing to get five bucks. I do think he wants to get five bucks. You're going to try it. I am right now. I'm working on it. Well, I always will be.
I mean. Yeah. Your grace plus a link and makes things happen. I just envision myself sitting there, bouncer next to me, just like. What's up? How's it going? Is that. Is that Engel Linger? I'm just trying to be sly about it. Just listening to music on the inside. What's up? How many heaven bucks are going to take me to get in? What's up, man? I got three terms. Jimmy, I know you. What's up, man? You want to let me know? What was the name? Engel Linger? Do you also go by the aliases Roust and Hammer? Spankendorfer? Ben, if you got me in the book of life as Spankel Linger, I'm going to freak out. That's your name tag for eternity. That actually would be funny if you're like Troy, Troy Engel Linger. Sorry, we don't have an Engel Linger. Also, try Spankel Linger.
Try Roust and Hammer. Try Roust and Hammer. Oh, there we go. Oh, Roust and Hammer. Try Buford. I'm going to feel bad about the dudes that are standing behind me. Billy Graham. Try Billy Graham. Try Roust and Hammer. I'm going to try to go before you. That way I can be feeding him stuff. Dude's behind me like, hey, I'm Troy, Roust and Hammer. Uh-oh. We only have one. Better get out your heaven bucks. Here's my heaven 20. Heaven bucks. You have been listening to Live from the Path on livefromthepath.org, broadcasting live from the 24-7 prayer room at the Pathway Studios. The Lord has provided it for us today and has really rocked it. So we're going to be moving on to some Dear Live from the Path. Apparently, here's the thing that worries me. People see four to five dudes sitting in an all-purple room and they say, those guys can help me. They've got style. Here's the advice that, you know, they're burning questions.
Look at those windows. Those guys know what they're doing. And so they wrote in. And here's the deal. And this one might hit a little bit home. So let's see what happens here. Dear Live from the Path, my preteen daughter, Avery, has started developing a more mature figure. She recently told me privately that one night while I was in class, her father smacked her on the bottom and started playing with the back pockets on her jeans. It made her very uncomfortable. When Avery asked him to stop, he told her that she's his baby girl and he could smack her cute little butt if he wants to. I think my husband truly believed it was okay and didn't mean it, at least consciously. But if it bothered Avery, it can't continue. I'm afraid I'll overreact if I try to discuss this with him. I was sexually abused by a relative when I was a young teenager. And this relative also said that because he was related to me, he could touch me in whatever way he wanted. Obviously outrageous. If there's trouble brewing, I want to stop it now, but I don't want to come off as a freaked out, paranoid former victim seeing abuse where it may be totally innocent. Any suggestions? This is a stepdad? No, it's a dad. It is the dad dad.
It's a dad dad. I am afraid to take this one. I'm afraid to take this one. I'm a son. I am not in any way a father. I am nowhere near a father. I'm not ready to be a father. I do not know. And I've never had daughters. I've never had sisters. So I have no clue. Anything that your preteen or teen or any age daughter feels is inappropriate is inappropriate. Okay. That's a very good answer. Even if you're doing it in innocence and not even thinking, because they're at that point where they're thinking, ooh, people are thinking, you know, it's just a confusing time. Right. It's best to find the line and then run the other way. That's just respect. But it's, you know, I, I, I, it's got to be positive. There's got to be a lot of touch. Right. Especially from dad. Right. Positive, positive, positive, positive, you know, positive hugs. Yeah.
Those are totally fine. Why are you going to say that to dad? Hugs. Give me the hugs. Bring me my tea and tobacco. Daddy. Hugs. Papa wants a hug. Here's the thing is I feel bad. I feel, and I don't know the bad situation at all, right? I don't know whether the guy is okay, not okay. I just looked at it from my own perspective and I'm like, I feel kind of bad for this guy because I could see that day coming, you know, where, you know, every day I, every day I would come home and hug my daughter and pick her up and swing her around. And then, you know, there'll be one day where she's like, don't do that. What will probably happen first is that awkward moment when you realize, uh, there, there's more to hug than there used to be. And you're like, oh, um, oh, I mean, cause we're, we're, we're a huggy family. Right. And, uh, you know, you just get to the point where like, as a dad, I'm like, uh, I need to, you know, continue hugging. All of a sudden you just need to be a little more careful. I just need to move my positioning. Like I, I, like I was wondering where, where, where, you know, when's the age when I stopped letting them, you know, come rolling in the bathroom when I'm taking a shower, talking to me, asking me questions, you know, they'll do that.
I don't know. Six, five, eight. When is it? 29. Who knows? Honestly, they will, they will, uh, they will come to the point where they'll be like, they'll filter themselves. Yeah. Like, okay. So that's okay. I don't have to worry about it. Cause I, I, I, I mean, it's nice talking to them. They don't like stick their head in there or anything, but like, you know, I mean, they're taking a shower. Is that right? Cause I do get that actually. The, the, especially the, the two-year-old will come in and go, ha, daddy potty. And then like run away. And I thought, oh no, daddy potty. Uh, I did, and this is hopefully not going to sound weird. And I apologize if it does, but I did that with my dad. Like not the whole hot potty thing. Hot daddy potty. Daddy's got a tail. That's terrible. That's terrible.
That's what they say. Oh, daddy potty. No, I never walked into the bathroom. My 40 year old father and me at like 18, just walk in like, ha, ha, daddy potty. At that age, you just turned the hot water off. It'd be awkward. No, I just walk in and like smack my dad in the back or something. Just like, what's up pops? No, I, I was comfortable, completely comfortable walking in and talking to my dad when he was in the shower. I never really popped my head in just to say, Hey dad, how's it going? By the way, it's me. Just in case you couldn't recognize your loud son's voice. Confuse me for the cat. Let's have a hug. It's T-Roy. Hey, you're pappy. You're potted. It's good. We are totally taking this in the wrong direction. I apologize for my pappy hugs. But no, I was completely cool with that. And I think, I don't know if that's different for guys. I mean, there's healthy and then there's, when they think it's inappropriate, it's inappropriate. Well, and I think, I think there is, there is a danger, especially when they're younger of, of going too far the other way with it.
And then like, I think that's where you get people who, um, who, who start experimenting and like, because you, you kind of bow it out. You say, look, we, I don't teach you. There's a difference between men and ladies. Uh, so then you're curious and like, you don't say like, it's completely natural, uh, that it got a putty and that it doesn't look like yours. Like there's no reason to wig out about it, but, but I think you can go the other way with it and back way too far off of it. And then it creates, uh, unhealthy, um, people looking at those things in an unhealthy way. Yeah. Yeah. I can see that. Yeah. No, I just, I didn't know how to answer that one. I apologize if I answered it wrong or anything like that, but I just, it's not a, it was not a right or wrong. Okay. I was just going to say, I don't know too much. If you, if you had a preteen daughter, I'd be a little. Right. Exactly. If I had a preteen daughter, I would have had to be at the most eight when she was born. Hello, daughter. Go potty. Yup. Excuse me.
At the most nine when she was born. That's creepy. I'm sorry. Uh, so wait, so, so what is the advice? Is it to, um, do you talk? I, I, I, I'd say you do talk to the dad. Yeah. Yeah. You don't have a choice. It says, uh, uh, dear, dear. Uneasy. Uh, secular says, yes, listen to your gut. Tell your daughter you're glad she told you what happened and you want her to come to you anytime anyone makes her feel uncomfortable. No one has the right to touch her if she doesn't want to be. And because what her father did, didn't, uh, did make her, made her uncomfortable. Her cute little butt is off limits. Actually, those, those are poor words from a dad. Yeah. It's awkward. It's not a, that's, that is kind of weird. I don't know that I would ever compliment my daughter on her behind. I say, you're pretty. You look very pretty today. They were like your hair. Those are where I'm at.
Your hair is nice. I think your hair looks pretty. Did you condition? I don't want to say that. If your husband gives you an argument, insist on professional counseling for the two of you. He may be slow to realize that his little girl is growing up and the rules have changed. I, I think that's a fair point. Yeah. It could be denial. A licensed counselor will not come off as a freaked out, paranoid former victim and, and can help him to understand that his behavior should not be repeated. Oh, I forgot to include in the previous part that, uh, he and his wife are not having a very strong sex life, which she's addressing here. Uh, that may not be relevant. Yeah. I don't see that. I will. Well, I would be careful as to whether that's not relevant. Like that, that, that the wife not make the conclusion that that is relevant when it's not. You'd probably just be mindful of it. I guess. Is he, is he seeking more than he's getting in? That's the question. And so he's looking at other places.
Yeah. That's the question is her fear. Well, that, uh, yeah, that's the question. Oh, that just got a little more weird happens all the time and it's disgusting. It, yeah, it does. Okay. That just, that just threw me off entirely. I'm sorry. I'm just going to be quiet. Okay. Here we go. Advice number two, dear live from the path. Uh, I attended a prestigious college, but 35 years later, I also find myself with no job in debt, battling depression and dealing with a host of phobias. Bummer. Wow. Really having a hard time. Is this from the Occupy movement? Uh, I read the, I read the school's quarterly magazine and see my peers have great jobs, travel extensively and are happily married. I once sent in news that not everyone is so lucky and that I am neither successful nor wealthy. Needless to say, it wasn't published. Would you do that? When my Facebook, when my Facebook friends ask how I am, I reply, it's a difficult question to answer.
And then I ask them about them and let them know I'm glad they're doing well. And when times get bad, I know I can deactivate my Facebook account until I feel better. What? Oh man. Only the love of Jesus would keep this person anywhere near me. Just kidding. This sounds like the most irritating person alive. Man, I don't have a job. I'm depressed. Dear college, uh, uh, yearbook. Not everyone is so successful. Love, John. Stop rubbing it in. You know, I graduated the same school. A list of phobias. I mean, seriously, I can picture this guy and he is totally annoying me as I sit here. He appears to be a person that, um, uh, has a lot of issues he needs to work out, which is probably why he's not being successful. Well, what do they want him to do, stop publishing the newsletter because he's having a crap time? What a whited baby. Seriously. I can't take him. Seriously. I can't. I, I, I, I know this guy. I know him.
What do you mean? I know this man and he really has roasted me. You've met a, you've met a man. I've met him. Yeah. The guy who's like, everyone else has it better. And, uh, you know, and he, and he feels like he's doing the strong thing by being able to acknowledge his situation. Like a guy who feels like there's, he's not dealing with his own stuff. He just, he thinks that he's the only guy that can adequately assess the situation by saying, you're not as successful, but I did the same thing. And it's nothing about me. It just, some people don't have it that good. You know, uh, you're lucky and I'm not, and I can see it, but you can't cause you're all story-eyed because you go on trips. You know what I'm saying? Like, you're part of the 1%. Yeah. This guy. You have a 99. Oh, man. I love this guy. Hi, John. I don't go on trips and I'll deactivate my Facebook. Anyone that deactivates their Facebook for any other reason besides spam and abuse. Like actual, like, reportable abuse.
Not just like, reactivate when I feel better. Yeah, exactly. That's just, he's deactivated. Or hide people. He's deactivated just for his act of rebellion. Just like, you know what? I'm sick of. Who would publish this news? Here's the thing that kills me. This guy sends in, he reads this in a bit of jealousy, writes in, some of us are not so lucky to be so successful. And then emails it off and expects them to write it in the quarterly letter. Now, here's the quarterly letter office at the Harvard University. Oh, man. John sucks. Should we print that? Wait, John who? Look up that year. 35 years ago. Who was that guy? He still doesn't got a job. I still don't remember that guy. Dear Harvard, I'd come down there, but I don't go on trips. I don't have enough money to travel down there, or I would. I'd tell you guys what's up. Can I pay an angry?
I have angry. You take angry dollars. Oh, man. You know, this guy's definitely going through a lot. And this is the current thing. I can't really lovingly say anything else, and I don't want to say anything else. That's what I said. Grace of Jesus keeps us, man. This guy needs some help. It's a rough time for a lot of people right now. I mean, you know, it's not just you, buddy. I think it is. Yeah. I think he's got a little bit more emotional further than economic recession. Times are tough, but I don't think there's ever getting on the level with this guy that's like, you should realize that you and others are the same. A little overdramatic. No one looks at it like that. Not like they're like, well, not everyone's having a job. You don't have a job, and you're highly in debt. These sound like things that are your fault. You know what I'm saying? Things just don't happen. Like, no job. That happens sometimes. In debt depends on how much of an idiot you are.
You know what I'm saying? Yeah. It's all things that are preventable. Because when people say stuff like, you don't realize how lucky you are, what they're really saying is, you don't realize how unlucky I am. Yeah. I mean. Not your life is great. My life is pretty crappy. I can't. I don't know. Maybe I'm just insensitive, and I don't know enough about the situation, but I don't know. I can't. I don't know. I want to say I can't stand it when people say they don't have a job. But there's, I don't have a college degree, and I have a job. I have a job that's better than a job, better paying, excuse me, I'm not going to say better than, better paying than a job as a cashier at McDonald's, and, you know, I'm more than pulling through. But I went to Harvard, and I should. I went to Harvard, and I need a job to pay $70,000 to $250,000 a year. And I should go on trips. Like, McDonald's is going to say no. What's the secular advice, Mike? Yeah, I gave up on it. It was actually a reply to somebody who had written a couple weeks ago.
And so it was just, there's about 10 more that are exactly just like that, explaining that they think the exact same way this guy did, and no one understands the feelings of the poor, drowned out guy. Even though, oh, man. Yeah. So that gives you an insight, really, into the whole Occupy people. Like where that, their victims. By the way, speaking of that, I absolutely love that picture you posted. I reposted. A couple, three weeks ago, they're all using iPhones. Yeah, iPhones, Nokia, wearing Rafflorine jeans, and all this sort of stuff. I laughed about that. You ready? We got one more. Yes. Okay. Dear Life of the Path. I appreciate frugality, especially now that we all have to watch our spending. However, my neighbor's incredibly frugal. She often asks if she could borrow something instead of buying whatever it is she needs. Her latest request was for socks. Yes, socks. For her daughter's dance recital. I put socks in the same category as undies. Something a little too personal to be lending out. Before that, it was leggings, a CD.
The list goes on and on. She always returns the items, but enough is enough. I work. She doesn't. I feel as though I'm expecting to provide for them because I have a job. I don't know if she should say anything to her about her constant borrowing or simply say no to all her future requests, which, of course, there will be. Please share your thoughts. Keep handing it over. I'd call her husband. Well, obviously, if she's having a… I mean, frugal seems like the nice word. She's lazy and a thief. Or maybe it's just good stewardship. Why, well, socks, that's a little awkward. I said keep giving it. I'm just saying, like, frugal is being nice. But in either case, I'd keep handing them over. I mean, like, if I need a chainsaw, I'd rather just borrow my neighbor's and go out and buy a new chainsaw. Or, of course, I don't know about it. Leggings. The example with socks, leggings, and a CD. Yeah, those are pretty poor. Just give her the leggings. She obviously needs them.
There you go. Or give a gift certificate to Goodwill. For leggings. They have leggings and underwear and all kinds of stuff. I'd call the kid's father and find out what's wrong with him. It's saying that she's got a husband? The kid's got a father. You're going to do… What? You're going to… We're going to call that guy? I'm going to say, hey, your daughter… It was for the kid's dance recital. Yeah, but do we know that the father's even present? I don't care. All right, we're assuming… Why am I supplying socks for his kid? Because he's a lazy bum. Because you're a good man and you love people? I was going to say… I'll give her the socks. I'm still making a phone call. And I guarantee you the people that are having to fight for their kids to have child support and everything like that, he's going to hang up on you when you say, hey… You know what that guy needs? Two people into his life to go knock on his oar and talk to him, like you and I.
This is the guy who doesn't have a job and can't travel. That's the husband. I mean, it's probably the same guy. It's a happy family. He's dead because of child support. My husband can't help me because he doesn't have a job. It's just not fair. He needs a little physical motivation. Look at all the breaks. You have socks. That's the thing. He needs physical motivation. He's letting it go because he… I go around on bare feet anyway. Right. Everyone's sensitive to his emotional play. I don't go anywhere. I can just sit there with no socks on. I'm fine. Yeah, he needs a little physical… You're going to go rough him up over the leggings? I was going to say, what exactly do you mean by physical help? You and I showing up at his doorstep and just throwing him against a sofa? Be like, hey. Hey. People need to be talked to how they need to be talked to to learn.
If they refuse to learn, you've got to talk to them their language. And you think of physical harm. So if you show up and Johnny Hippie is over there in the middle of his room crying because he hasn't had a job for 30 years because the man's after him, then why don't you introduce him to Mr. Big and Mac? Oh, man. Computer talk. I'm just telling you. First off, don't even lift your fists up and say Mr. Big and Mr. Mac ever again. Oh, yeah. Yeah, sure. He's dead. Absolutely. Now you're feeling bad. That's probably the case. Now, if he was dead, the mom could get a job. If she's not employed. Yeah. Plus, if he was only half a man, he would have slipped a life insurance policy to leave it to his kid and his wife. He didn't do that either. Now he should dig his mouth. Here, buy some socks. He's in trouble. He's a good time Sam. No, or good time Gary, excuse me.
I honestly, I don't. Tell me this, Troy. Is there any situation where you have to get physically active for Jesus? Would you do it? Physically active is different than physically beating someone. Okay, call it physically beating. No, there's not. Is it ever. Seriously? Are you saying is it ever acceptable to punch someone in the face for Christ? Yes. Yes. I think it is. Yes, it is. You think it's acceptable anywhere in our face to punch someone in the face for Jesus? Yep. If it is, please let me know when these situations arise so I can take advantage of that. Yeah, if there's a deadbeat father, punch him in the face. Don't kill him. Just give him a good whack in the face. You don't kill him. It's not right to kill people. I never said I was going to kill people. Troy, that's one of the commandments. Exactly. Why do you automatically assume I'm going to kill the guy?
Thou shalt. It's okay to be in the face. That's why you're asking. It's a leading question. Can I hit people? Can I kill them? No. It was not a gateway question. Can I murder someone? You were arguing that this is a gateway question for me to be able to murder someone, and that's not what I was saying at all. I've seen you. You've seen me watch. Here's what I'm saying. Deadbeat father, punch him in the face. If he will not listen to reason, punch him in the face. Dan, where you at? If they are physically assaulting someone and you have to protect them, punch him in the face. That's different. If you're just mad at him and annoyed, you can't. What if they won't listen? Then, can you punch him? What if he's being emotionally abusive or is withholding money for his family? You say, is that a form of violence? Jesus went into the temple and threw chairs around, threw tables around, overturned tables,
screaming. But that was because people were being lazy. Right. But he didn't take any of the tables and hit someone upside the face with it. He didn't say that he moved anybody that was in the way of the table. It just doesn't record. There wasn't a whole lot to that text, Troy. Just what I'm saying is, personally, I don't think that he went up to the table and then dude standing right here just flipped it right in their face. Personally, I don't think you wrote the book of John. No, I did not write that book. Obviously, because that would make no sense first off. So someone said, hey, how much did you sell that land for? Oh, we sold it for X amount. Death. God will kill people for less than I just want to hit them in the face. You got a lot of penned up anger, don't you? Once again, that's God. You. No, that's not true. Well, he ripped off the Holy Spirit for a few bucks and they met the ultimate demise. Yeah. Talking about how they wanted to give everything, but they kept some of the profit for themselves and put it away. If I'm not incorrect in that. It was kind of like the guy who's supposed to be paying child support for his kid who
has to borrow leggings and socks. Right, but where is it where you step in? He has money and keeps it for himself. Where is it that you get to step in and smite the guy? If I ask the Holy Spirit if I could punch somebody. Okay. If you ask the Holy Spirit. And the Holy Spirit says, yes, I am doing it. The Heavenly Father and the Holy Spirit. And this one's from Jesus. God, can I punch this guy in the face? This is from your daughter. And you get an honest answer that's not yourself stepping into it. God telling you, punch him in the face. Actually, so. I'm behind it. I don't have a choice but to agree to that. I suppose if the Holy Spirit says you got to punch a guy in the face. That's what I'm saying. God tells you to punch a guy in the face. Samson hit him with jaw bones. Yeah. The Lord permitted Samson to pull down the temple upon himself and everybody. Okay. Yeah. Like I said, Holy Spirit tells you, punch some dude in the face.
You better do it. But until that happens, don't do it. Now, why is your first reaction to like hold hands and weep? I never said that was my first reaction. Well, then you tell me if the guy needs a punch in the face, what are you going to do over there? If he needs a punch in the face? I'm not going to punch some dude in the face. So you refuse. The Holy Spirit has told you to punch a man. If the Holy Spirit tells me to punch some dude in the face, I'm going to hit him harder than he's ever been hit in his entire life because I'm huge and strong. I am a big man. I make big fists. Look at this. I make big fists. You have picked the right man. I'm going to walk up. I'm going to be recognizing my strength. I'm going to punch you in the face. Here's the problem. The Holy Spirit is going to tell somebody to punch me in the face. And I would be really sorry. Exactly. If I'm at home tonight praying and I honestly get the Holy Spirit telling me, dude. Mike needs to punch the face. I will drive to your house. Okay.
Here's the lesson for today. Okay. Don't ignore the Holy Spirit. If he says punch in the face, that's what you're doing. If he says don't punch in the face, don't punch in the face. Just do what God tells you to do. Don't try to force righteousness. Sounds good, Mike. I'm trying to force a guy. Sounds good. Now listen. I didn't say I was going to go off and log somebody in the head. I just said if the Holy Spirit leads me, I will punch a man in the face. Your second point was what? You did not say anything about Holy Spirit telling you to punch some dude in the face in the first part of that conversation. You know it. I said if it's a deadbeat dad, he needs to punch in the face. Not if the Holy Spirit tells you. Now here's the thing. If the Holy Spirit puts me in front of a deadbeat dad, I'm going to assume that means punch him in the face. Or maybe talk to him. He knows where I stand on punching people. Hey, this is where Jesus stands on this. This is where God stands on this.
I'm not going to punch you in the face, but I'll sure tell you that God ain't happy. Hey, listen. We're walking through these things together, okay? We're walking and we're talking. We're asking for the Lord's advice. We're bouncing it off each other for a couple of minutes. We're punching some dude in the face. Hey, man. I know you don't love your kids and stuff, but God loves you. I'm not saying you walk up to him and talk to him like, hey, man. You know, you're doing some bad stuff. I'll walk up there and I'll start screaming at the guy. Those are some nice overalls, buddy. Heavenly Father doesn't say anything. As far as I'm concerned, God doesn't have anywhere in there that I can't scream at some dude. We got to go. We got to stop this thing. You want to borrow a cup of open for me?
