Segments
- Interview already in progress 0:00–0:15
The episode opens mid-interview: an announcer-style voice introduces an exclusive interview with the band Silversyde and points listeners to their website, then the interview is picked up already in progress with the announcement that the band's next album is called 'Hush'.
- 'Hush' is really the new album title 0:15–0:33
The interviewer riffs on the 'whispers' / 'Hush' wordplay with the band, confirming the new album really is titled Hush, and briefly returns to his running panda joke ('I should've bought that panda').
- Current album 'Circus Circus' and where to buy it 0:34–1:09
The interviewer confirms the band's current album is 'Circus Circus' and gets the list of outlets where it can be bought (iTunes, their website, Amazon, CD Baby), which leads into a joke about finding one's own CD at the Goodwill and a father's betrayal.
- The panda gag returns 1:11–1:22
A short callback to the running panda gag: the interviewer jokes that he no longer speaks to his father ever since 'that panda incident of a couple years ago', and commits to sticking with the joke.
- Last night's show and the 'nothing exploded' standard 1:24–2:00
Asked what brought them to town, a band member says they had a show the previous night that went well, and sets the band's standard for a good show: 'Nothing exploded.' The interviewer adopts the standard, adding a bad-piece-of-toast confession of his own.
- Laura's traveling tattoo shop 2:00–3:22
The band is sticking around town, and band member Laura runs a traveling tattoo shop packed into the tour van. The interviewer jokes about getting tattooed in a van, suggests a bounce castle as a venue, and barters imaginary three-star-to-five-star hotel stays for tattoos.
- Staying centered on Jesus on the road 3:23–5:13
Asked how they stay centered on Jesus while traveling, the band says they bring their Bibles, pray together, attend church when they can (they went in Osceola the previous Sunday), and encourage one another. The interviewer then delivers a long heartfelt appreciation for the humility of touring Christian artists who proclaim Christ without the cushy life.
- Introducing the song 'Hear Me' 5:13–5:54
The interviewer clarifies the album naming joke (new album 'Hush', nothing to do with 'whisper'), and introduces the first song: 'Hear Me' off the Circus Circus album, noting an accidental 'cochlear' hearing theme across the album titles.
- Performance: 'Hear Me' 6:19–8:34
Silversyde performs 'Hear Me' from the Circus Circus album. The lyrics (as ASR-rendered, including a recurring 'May' that likely reflects sung 'me') move from voices that cut and shove toward being called out of darkness and belonging to Christ ('I'm yours').
- Applause banter after the song 9:28–10:09
After the song the interviewer thanks the band, jokes about his failed attempt at a crowd-like double clap with his two hands, vows to practice at home late at night (to his wife's dismay), and tells them to 'go talk to Mike's cat'.
- Van technology and embarrassing iPod songs 10:10–13:44
The interviewer asks about technology in the van (the band runs MacBooks and iPhones) and then asks the most embarrassing song on their iPod. The band pleads no shame; the interviewer confesses a Miley Cyrus tune and the whole Chipmunk movie soundtrack. The band counters with Disney classics, ABBA, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Taylor Swift's 'Trouble'; the interviewer adds 'How Do You Know' from Enchanted.
- Introducing 'Circus Circus' ('Circle circle') 13:45–14:44
Asked for one more tune, the band offers 'Circle circle' – their joking in-name for the song 'Circus Circus' – and the interviewer introduces it as the title track off the Circus Circus album, again plugging iTunes, Amazon, and CD Baby.
- Performance: 'Circus Circus' 14:51–17:46
Silversyde performs the title track 'Circus Circus'. The ASR-rendered lyrics frame life as a circus of pain and broken pieces, with refrains of giving up when there is no God versus cleansing and reaching up for life.
- Sign-off and plugs 18:06–18:40
The interview closes with thanks to Laura, Allie, and Melody by name, a plug to pick up the album, watch for the new album 'Hush', visit the band's website, and follow their Facebook page and Twitter feed, followed by the show sign-off.

You're listening to an exclusive interview with the band Silverside here on Live From The Path. For more information about these ladies, go to silverside.com. Now join the interview already in progress. I've heard whispers that you might be working on a new album. We are. It's called Hush. Oh, man. Yes. Wait. Is that is that part of the joke, or are really working? Kind of a coincidence. Oh, yeah. Whispers. Yeah. No. It's it's
the actual title. I feel like there's a play on words. People are making me look like a fool. I feel like I'm back at home. I should've bought that panda. Well, it's not that hard. But you do have a a current album out. Correct? We do. And and they can get ahold of what's it called? It's called Circus Circus. Okay. And you they can get ahold of it where?
They can find it on iTunes. They can find it on our silverside.com, Amazon, CD Baby,
probably the corner market, black market. Have you ever found one of your own CDs at the at the Goodwill or something? No.
Not yet. I've had that happen to me. Oh, thank god. I put out a low rent CD that I know personally only five people bought, which means my old man turned it into the Goodwill. It's a good thing we don't speak anymore ever since that panda incident of a couple years ago. Okay. The panda. Yeah. What's what's with the panda? Yeah. I I gotta once I pick a joke, gotta stick with it. Oh. Yeah. Funny or not. Okay. So what are you guys doing in town then?
Oh. Am I am I speaking? I feel like you don't know. It goes well. Honestly, we had a show last night and Did it go well? It went pretty
well. Yeah. It was awesome. And Nothing exploded. Nothing exploded. Yes. And that That's how I mark my good days as well. Mark it as it was a good show. Yeah. We had things fall over, but nothing exploded. Yeah. Actually, with that standard, let me reveal something to you. I once had a bad piece of toast. Consider what may have gone on. Continue.
And we're just sticking around town, hanging out with our friends, and also Laura's got tattoo traveling tattoo
shop, I guess. You keep the stuff in the in the van? In the van. Yeah. We pack it with everything else. Hold on. Don't don't Portable. Don't don't take this the wrong way. But but but I was told specifically never to get a tattoo from a van. In a van. Well It's not in a van. Do you have, like, a roll out canopy or something like that, you know, like that makes it feel like home? I have a Kind of. Have a blow up castle that you can go in and bounce around then sit down and get a tattoo. I would just pay the money for the castle.
You could keep the tattoo. It is I was in a bouncing castle in a van. That sounds awesome. Nice. Now how many how many road tattoos will you say you've done? I've done a good amount. A lot, like, where we just stay and then we stay and tattoo. We'll stay for a couple days like we're doing here in Iowa. Uh-huh.
Do you ever use it to barter for hotel rooms or something? Not yet. I feel like you should get on that train. I know. I'm willing to tattoo a warm bottle of water on your back for three nights. Yeah. Only if it's a five star. Yeah. That's solid. Yeah. That's solid. Five star with a pool. Now we're talking And a jacuzzi. Jacuzzi. And a spa. Okay. It's not gonna work, ladies. You're way overshooting this. I
don't know what fool you're gonna find at the night desk, but I mean, seriously, the Jacuzzi's too much. So let me ask you this. You guys are you're traveling around. It's it's a different kind of life than in every kind of day job. Right? So, you know, what do you do to keep yourself,
centered on Jesus? Well, I mean, what is what do you do? Drive. A lot of driving. We have, you know, we bring our Bibles with us, and
we're able to get some praying in. We try to hit up church when we can. Yeah. We went this past Sunday in Osceola Yeah. With our friends and
just really focus, you know, just try to encourage each other and focus on our relationship building it and how we can share our message more effectively. So You know, here's here's the deal. And and I use I say this to just about every band in here, but, like, what you guys do and what bands like you do, they blow me away. Right? Because they
I am I am tied to my responsibilities and and my, schedule. You know what I'm saying? Very rigid about it. And, like, without it, I'd have a hard time finding time to read through Deuteronomy again. You know I'm saying? All these things in place, I almost have to have them
to base myself. And then you guys are out there in the public eye proclaiming Christ and set an example. It just blows me away what you do, to be honest. I I and in fact, every Christian artist that I've talked to that's been in here has been the most humble. Because the problem is the message isn't about you. You know what I'm saying? It's about Christ. And so, like, you get people out there hoofing the road, you know, living living a lifestyle that is just proclaim Christ, and it's, it there's not much cushy about it. You know what I'm saying? And so, like, just just, just what you do just just tends to blow me away. And so I you know, at the very least, I appreciate what you're doing, And, and I think it's awesome. So Oh, god. We, we're looking forward to hearing a tune.
Now hold on. The the name Hush was the name of the new album? Yes. Whisper is the name of the what? I think nothing. We made that Silence Yourself. Because here's the so the song that we're gonna hear is called hear me, and I feel like there's a there's a there's a cochlear theme. Yeah. Thing going on in here. Ear problems in this band.
There's a a test a test to the wild show. That's what's going on here. Someone took a beach ball right to the ear, and that was the end. So we're gonna hear we're gonna hear hear me, and that's on Circus Circus? Yeah. It is. Okay. So we're gonna I think we're gonna step aside, and, you're gonna hear hear me off the Circus album from Silverside. Hear me, please. Set me free. Won't you hear May? Heal May.
You know I'm reaching out to you. Yes. So save May. Change May. I know it's you who'll break this hook on me. All these voices keep on laughing,
keep on cutting, keep on shoving. I can't pretend this isn't killing me. I feel the pressure closing
in. It's closing teeth, I'm sinking in. Heal May. You know I'm reaching
out to you, so save May. Change May. I know it's you who'll break this up. Once you hear me, I look into the mirror,
and I'm hating all I see. I'm broken, choking, suffocating, longing to be free.
But then you call me out of darkness so that I can finally see that that's not me, that's not the rest of them.
That's not me. That's not who I am. I'm not like the rest of them because I'm yours. That was awesome. Well, thank you. Nobody else I hooted. Nobody else nobody else hooted. I was trying to double clap, it sounded like there was more people in the room,
but I couldn't pull it off. I only have the two hands Jesus gave me. It's because you have to put your elbows together and because I There's nothing cool about this thing right here. No. No. No. You gotta keep the elbows together. I can't do it. I can't do it. Okay. A slightly embarrassing note. I'm gonna try that later. Okay. That's a good move. I've done it now. I'm stay I'm gonna get home from the show at, like, one in the morning and be out in the living room doing this. My wife's gonna wake up and It's one. Gonna freak her out. Yeah. I told you not to do this. She's gonna say, I always do this about you.
Go talk to Mike's cat. So do you guys do you guys play very many acoustic type tunes? Not really. I really love that one. Yeah. I feel like I I don't know. I feel like it shines. Like, the the the melodies are good. The the the harmonies are awesome. They're catchy. Not
that it gets lost otherwise, but I really liked it. I it was really nice. So now let me I I kinda prepped you this question because I I like to know this. How are you on technology? Do you have the iPod or the m p three player? Do you still rock the the eight track? What happens in your van? The van vinyl? We rock MacBooks. Yeah. We the MacBooks and iPhones. Okay. Okay. So you're there. What's Most of us. Jeez.
I still use the tablet and hammer. No one understands me. So if you had to if you had to say, what what's the most embarrassing song you have on that iPod?
I can't say I'm gonna just admit this right now. I can't say I have anything I'm embarrassed of. If it's on there, it's because I wanted it there. Exactly. And I have no shame. I feel like you're either doubling down on a mistake or you really have really good taste of music. I downloaded the Oh, we have really good taste of music. Here's I'm gonna start. Okay? Here. I'm gonna tell you the two that maybe I just hope made people one, I have I have a Miley Cyrus tune on on the on the iPod. Now here's the deal. I downloaded it for the ladies, but I secretly love it. So that's the end of that discussion. Two, I also downloaded the the soundtrack from the Chipmunk movie. Oh.
Not just to I didn't see that going. Not just select bits, the whole thing. It was on sale, and it was good. So there it is. That's what I've done with my life. Oh gosh. Let's hear it. Somebody has to have something. Alright. Randy Travis, digging up bones. Alright. I have I have, like well, it's not like Laura said, it's not really embarrassing, but, like, I have a lot of stuff. Like, I have
and it's not embarrassing. Right. Like, a lot of Disney classics. I have Abba. I have Now wait a minute. Like, Beauty and the Beast style? Disney classics? Like like Little Mermaid, like Fun stuff. All that stuff. Like a whole new world? A whole new world. Yep. Yep. And we sing along, like, Bare Necessities. That's one of my favorites. I love that song. Yeah. That's true. That's a good Who is the guy who's the who's the dude in there? Louis Prima. Louis Prima was the orangutan. Yeah. I I think that's good stuff. Yeah. And, like, I got Carly Rae Jepsen and
just, like, just a lot of good stuff. Mel's having a thing that's embarrassing. Come on, Mel. Taylor Swift trouble. Okay. Hey. That's not embarrassing. That's some good songs. Okay. Love Taylor Swift. Now hold on. I just I've just heard that song recently, and I started playing the game on the iPod called the ruzzle.
It's like it's like some kind of word game. Right? But I found myself walking around the house going, ruzzle, ruzzle. Also embarrassing. My life is an open book of embarrassment. But anyway Oh, good. Okay. Alright. So so you got Disney classics. There's nothing wrong with that. I'll see that. Yeah. I have I have
how do you know from the Enchanted soundtrack. You guys heard that one? It's it's where the have you guys seen You're not gonna sing it, are you? No. No. I'm gonna do it later when I'm doing that. I am a thing. Sing and do that. It's from the have you seen the movie Enchanted? Yes. It's got the like, Amy Adams and she's the princess that comes to comes to life, and they're they're singing in the park. There's, like, a big roast of them singing around. So it's okay. Yeah. That's a little embarrassing. It's it's bummer.
My chipmunks went better than that. Yeah. Exactly. Oh, yeah. Bummer. I'm glad I've not been day one. Yeah. I think, actually, we have time for one more tune. Do you guys got one more tune you can play? Yeah. We do. Okay.
I you're gonna have to you're gonna have to tell me what it is. We'll we'll do circle circle. That has nothing to do with hearing. I'm excited about it. Circle circle. It's called circus circus. Circus circus. We just call it yeah. Circle circle. I'm not in in with your inside jokes. I've just met you. Not yet. I'm sorry. Not yet. Okay. Just circle circle. We'll get there. Yeah. Okay.
