Snakes, ostriches, and bears: the three office politicians

Tim explains his three office-politician types. Snakes are backstabbers and credit-stealers. Ostriches avoid all office politics — bad avoidance, like pulling a blanket over your head to hide from a monster — and just make matters worse. Both snakes and ostriches are motivated by self (self-promotion vs. self-preservation). The bear is the winner: in the wild a bear looks out for something beyond itself (cubs, food, home), and with the keenest sense of smell of any mammal it can sniff out danger proactively instead of being blindsided — i.e., proactive influence, not manipulation. The hosts probe whether bears get along and whether snakes and ostriches are needed for bears to matter, and Tim closes with a story about Sean Engeldinger mocking Sears incentive gimmicks by handing out chocolate bars himself. The transcript ends mid-sentence.
