Finding common ground under the noise
The hosts look for shared premises: conservatives defending Ten Commandments displays at courthouses are really trying to protect fealty to God (even if the facade doesn't drive what happens inside the building), and liberals pushing government programs want everyone to get a fair shake — a premise the hosts agree with even when they dispute the mechanism. They agree most voters arrive at positions without reasoned thought, and one host describes triangulating news across five or six sites from the most liberal to the most conservative to find something reasonably true. The thread also touches Allen West's secession talk from Texas and the founders' design of checks, balances, and flexibility.
