Research on 50 atheists who found Jesus

  • What did atheists believe before their conversions?

The hosts discuss Jaina Harmon's research (a C.S. Lewis Institute teaching fellow) on 50 atheists who came to faith. Common pre-conversion beliefs: caricatured views of Christianity formed through unfriendly cultural distance, faith painted as superstitious and irreconcilable with science, Christians seen as intolerant and hypocritical. The hosts admit Christians have earned some of that, argue most people's strongly held beliefs (including atheism) aren't from considered positions, and land on a long tangent: much professional and institutional life runs on a "house of cards" of people who don't have things figured out.
