Mike: raise disciples who can follow without you
Mike compares discipleship to raising kids: the goal is that they live without you. A community of Jesus-followers only works if each person follows independently — otherwise you get "a bunch of arms and heads" and nobody being the leg. You can't contribute to a community unless you're following Jesus apart from it, and you're the one introducing others to him.
