Pastor Ryan Bell tries atheism for a year
- Can a pastor 'try out' atheism for a year?
The hosts read and react to a CNN story: pastor Ryan Bell of a Seventh-day Adventist congregation in Hollywood resolved to live a year as an atheist - no prayer, church, or Bible - lost two Christian-school teaching jobs within a week, and received $19,000 in donations from atheists. The studio's verdict: you cannot 'try' atheism like a diet, since either God is or He isn't; Bell had already drifted (Hebrews), mischaracterized God, and was leading his congregation dishonestly. Passages touched include Revelation 3 (lukewarm), Jonah, Job's Pleiades, and Philippians 4:13.
