Theodicy clip: asking the question correctly
- Why do bad things happen to good people?
The show plays a pre-recorded clip of an outside speaker on theodicy (diarized as a distinct fourth voice). His thesis: after one semester of philosophy, people ask 'how can an omnipotent, omnibenevolent God allow evil?' -- the wrong question. Asked correctly it becomes: 'How can a holy and righteous God know what I did and thought and said yesterday and not kill me in my sleep last night?' Until the question flips, you believe in the supremacy of man; flipped, you believe in the supremacy of Christ -- 'the last breath I took I borrowed it from him, and I'm never gonna give it back.'
