Secular vs Solomon: the proverb game

The recurring game: the host reads ten bits of wisdom and the players, joined by Phil in place of the absent fourth host, who is assigned escalating negative points in absentia, must call each 'Solomon' (biblical) or 'Secular' (worldly) plus a country of origin. Rounds include 'a country can be judged by the quality of its proverbs' (secular, Germany), 'a house without a dog or a cat is the house of a scoundrel' (secular, Portugal), and five Proverbs hits: 20:13 on sleep and poverty, 17:8 on the magic-stone bribe, 18:9 on the sluggard, 16:24 on gracious words as honeycomb, and 18:19 on the offended brother. Running gags include guessing Italy for everything, 'hurricane Harvey' submitted as a country of origin, and a 'biblical' mulligan granted to Phil. The final question, 'a society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they shall never sit in,' is secular, Greece. One player wins as the only one left in positive points.
