Counting, motives, and the heart

The hosts press on the heart underneath the counting: are you counting for God's vindication or your own? They reuse the false-teacher sniff test from an earlier episode: does the thing elevate man or elevate Yahweh? The same action with a different heart builds a different kingdom. Examples pile up: Methodist church shirts at a build event, counting the ninety-nine versus the hundred sheep, noticing a missing kid because you love him versus noticing because you want to look like a parent. One host asks whether his Ezra teaching is making the word of God boring; he concludes the genealogy itself was boring, and the counting was beneficial.
