The sheep's perspective: personal benchmarks
- How can a regular Jesus follower properly measure where they are putting their time?
A guest asks the layperson's version of the question: if he reads his Bible twenty minutes a day, seven days a week, is that good enough, and is it okay to measure that? The hosts answer that many goals are self-imposed and arbitrary: daily Bible reading is not a biblical prescription, and the early church shared Paul's letters for a week before passing them on. One host notes the data comparison that convicted him: fifteen minutes of Scripture against hours of phone scrolling, staring at the ceiling, and watching the cat. Another says the real measure is outpouring, not intake: at some point you sit down with coffee and talk about it with someone else, from Acts 6. The landing: it is fine to count, as long as the count does not own you; aim for gospel transformation, not behavior modification.
