Interview: the founding of the Pleasantville Youth Initiative
Jenny Koenig tells the ministry's origin: as a pastor's kid she struggled with self-image and identity despite strong mentors, and she saw most kids lack such voices. It also continues her parents' earlier Pleasantville youth ministry that grew from 12 to 100 kids before they moved away. It began seven years ago with after-football-game parties that drew about 100 kids on the first night, partnered with an organization in Knoxville to feed kids over the summer, and grew from events into community programming.
