Communal memory of God's faithfulness

Answering the confidence question, a host walks through Daniel 2, where Daniel praised God after the dream was revealed despite his family killed, the city ransacked, and the temple destroyed. Confidence, he argues, comes from zooming out beyond one pinpoint of history to the recorded faithfulness of God across time and community: scripture, altars, and Ebenezers are reminders that suffering is the fallen world's nature, not a personal vendetta. A church father who warned things would get worse and then died a martyr around 165 AD is held up as the same lived confidence.
