Ben's confession: the secret chore-tracking journal
- Is it wrong to keep a personal accountability journal from my wife?
Ben confesses he has been keeping a secret from his wife for about a month: after she raised that she carries too much of the household load on their gravel-dust farm with four kids, a dog, two cats, and roughly fifty chickens in the garage, he opened a notes app to log everything he does around the house. It began spitefully as proof he was doing plenty, but within an hour became a mirror showing he did not do as much as he thought, and it now motivates him to sweep, fold laundry, and check whether he is actually contributing. He does not want his wife to see it because she is not a very encouraging person and he fears she would read it as a critique, so he once took his phone from her when she opened his notes app. He asks the room whether keeping it secret is wrong.
