Advice on the journal, and Dan's intimacy-checkmark calendar
Dan says Ben overthought it and made it a secret by snatching the phone, and advises simply telling his wife it is his accountability tool because its motive is right. Boova sympathizes, saying the journal is accountability for a behavior Ben wants to change and he has no obligation to submit it as a report card for her evaluation, while acknowledging it is messy. Dan then confesses his own parallel from before smartphones: he put an X on his paper calendar every time intimacy happened, intending to prove his wife wrong about frequency, but quit when he recognized his heart was bad. He says he only wanted an excuse to say the word intimacy.
