Telling his wife about the journal; open books and accountability levels
Boova proposes a script for telling Ben's wife: the list is for him, not a report card for her, and she may see it if it is important to her. Dan shares his own checklist approach to his wife's requests, purely for himself. Ben concludes with levels of accountability: he should be a totally open book but she has to choose to read it, without chucking it at her face, warning of the danger of growing comfortable hiding spending or other disapproved behavior. He recounts the gas-station coffee example, where his wife's reasonable limit of three times in two weeks was half of what seemed normal to him, showing why he trusts a wife's perspective and why the journaling has expanded to tracking where his days actually go and reminding him to thank his wife when she carries the full burden.
