Dear LFTP: the to-go plate dinner guest

  • Is my dinner-guest friend rude for taking a to-go plate for her daughter without asking?

Mike reads the final letter: a friend's husband and wife always plate a to-go meal for their 20-year-old daughter before serving themselves, without asking. The hosts find it astonishingly weird, a dinner invitation is not a soup kitchen, and advise just talking about it, while Mike notes the gracious-host alternative of simply making extra food. Secular blames the host for not speaking up sooner, then suggests passive-aggressively plating the food herself, which the hosts ridicule. The show closes with the sign-off: 'be faithful in the means; God will handle the ends.'
