Romans 3:23-24 and the gospel beyond guilt

The hosts read Romans 3:23-24 aloud — 'for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God' and 'justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus' — noting everyone quotes verse 23 but stops before verse 24. They argue the harder struggle is not recognizing sin (everyone agrees humans fall short) but accepting God's love in response to it: God is closest, not farthest, at the moment of sin. They distinguish genuine grief over sin from manufacturing penance to prove sorrow, warning that self-imposed punishment is arrogance — telling God His punishment is insufficient.
