Dear LFTP: in-laws raiding the snacks

  • My in-laws' family raids our food when they drop by unannounced — am I overreacting, and must I keep my mouth shut?

A retired listener on a fixed income writes that his wife's family drops by unannounced several times a week with kids who eat the food — he hides snacks in the bedroom and loses planned leftovers. The hosts advise setting plain boundaries rather than stewing: announce a new program where leftovers are his and laid-out snacks are theirs, and tell the kids directly. The Secular answer says the wife should handle it by asking relatives to ask before helping themselves.
